Reviews of Ka Pao Glasgow

This place is easily missed since all that’s visible from the pavement is a sign, a door and a menu.
Once inside the decor is modern and pleasant.
The menu was explained to us and we were asked about food allergies. The menu itself highlights any ingredients which are likely to be allergenic. Once the waitress had noted food allergies all staff were aware and at service confirmed which items had to be avoided by either one of us. The staff were very attentive in every respect throughout the visit and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done for us.
The food was excellent. From start to finish every dish was something which I had not eaten before. As you would expect the food is ‘Asian’ and similar to Thai cuisine.
We visited around 5pm on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was busy. We were luck to get a table, had w arrived later I think it would have been impossible to accommodate us given the number of diners who were arriving as we left.
On the down side the restaurant was noisy; lots of loud chatter from all the diners and when we arrived music from a near by ceiling speaker. It wasn’t possible to have a different table but the staff were kind and turned the volume right down. Here the only potential negative comment I could make (noise) was turned into a positive by the excellent staff.
Despite being downstairs the restaurant has installed a lift therefore disables access is excellent.
Regarding price I was pleasantly surprised; I expected to pay considerably more and given my total satisfaction would have been happy to do so.
PS. Good place for vegetarians and vegans.

Staffs were very friendly and attentive. Service were excellent and food is good too. We ordered 5 dishes and a dessert for 2 and we were so stuffed!! Some dishes is slightly on the sweeter side which I don't quite fancy but it is just a personal preference. Would return to try more dishes next time!

First time at KA PAO. "Asian fusion with a twist" in the heart of the West End. Although absolutely rammed , quick efficient service and amazing food. Owen talked us through the extensive gastronomic options and it was a great experience. Booked for next weekend. OUTSTANDING.

The food and service was great. Nice and unique way of food presentation. Some of the dishes were really salty thought. But if you're looking for an authentic thai food, this is not a place for you.

Absolutely outstanding meal, one of the best we’ve ever had. We had 6 sharing plates between us which was a lot but we wanted to try as much as possible as everything looked so good. Stand out dishes were the spicy caramel chicken and the crab. The staff were lovely and helpful and knew the menu well and gave recommendations. We’ve already booked to go back and try more of the menu.

Bona fide Glasgow gem. Cool place, funky vibe and sensational small and bigger plates of top notch, memorable Asian cuisine. Great drinks selection, including beer. New favourite restaurant, after The Gannet 💚

So we first came here on opening week, this was at the start of 2020 just before the pandemic hit. We didn't really feel the urge to rush back even though the food was nice (too many other new places to try). However, we thought we'd give it another go almost 2 years (!?) later, and I have to say they really upped there flavour game! Some of the dishes were similar to the first time but with tweaks that just made them hit different.
The tamarind sauce that came with the pardon peppers was insanely good that I had to go out and buy a jar to recreate the flavour at home (I've yet to succeed at this however). The mushrooms were the same as before but somehow tastier, as were the corn ribs. The caramel chicken was like, well, basically KFC on steroids...12/10.
To finish was like the tastiest gourmet Mr Whippy ice cream you've ever had.
Definitely looking forward to visiting again, won't leave it so long this time.

Went here for birthday meal. Wow!!! The service was very personable and measured. With help with the menu. I am vegan and the menu was focused but interesting. When the food arrived at the table as a staggered event. The quality was overwhelming!!! Honestly one of the best restaurant meals I have had. I'll be back!!!

I am not an expert so can't say if the dishes are authentic but they are definitely delicious. So many interesting flavours and combinations to choose from - it's brilliant they follow this tapas-like concept (smaller plates to share) as it's perfect excuse to order everything! The place was a bit noisy but in a good way - you can't have an intimate conversation but can still enjoy yourself. Service was quick and very helpful. Especially recommend if you like spicy food.
