Reviews of Obsession of India

Very good value for money at this great Indian on the edge of Glasgow's Merchant City.
The food was delicious & quickly prepared. As we came in for lunch the restaurant was quiet, with only ourselves and one other set of customers present, but the atmosphere was still pleasant and authentic. We booked a table for lunch but it didn't appear to be necessary.
The staff were pleasant enough, could be friendlier but no complaints overall. The layout of the restaurant was very simple, facilities were easy to find and extremely clean.
I would recommend this restaurant.

5 Stars are not enough to rate Obsession of India. I would rate this 10 stars!
I first visited this Glasgow gem in 2018 on a Thursday evening and the place was packed. We were happy to wait for a table, as someone (with impeccable taste) recommended it to us as the BEST India food in Glasgow. Although no one left the restaurant suddenly a small table next to the kitchen was empty. Once seated I noticed the man who had been at the table sitting in a chair next to the coat rack. He offered up his table as his finished his wine. We invited him to join us and he offered us recommendations as he eats there several time a week. The meal was FABULOUS!!! Back in Glasgow in 2022 I fancied another amazing meal. I mentioned the man who gave up his table and the owner said they called him to say we were back. Reunited with an old friend we enjoyed another great meal. On my last night in Glasgow before going to see Sparks at the Barrowlands I returned. On all three occasions the food was spectacular, atmosphere was perfect and the service was impeccable. I'll be back again and again. Thanx to Cammy and Sangeta for the great food and hospitality. Do yourself a favour and stop in for a wonderful meal and a great night out.

Without a doubt, the greatest Indian cuisine I've ever had. I cannot recommend it enough, you would be foolish to pass up an opportunity to eat here. Do yourself a favour. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, the food is otherworldly.

The best Indian restaurant in Glasgow, unbelievable tasting food. Real curry's with no artificial colouring. Fantastic value for money.

Fantastic food. We had the lunch time menu. A bit short on the pakora. You only got two pieces. Apart from that the chicken korma was delicious. Served hot with a choice of rice or nan breads. Staff are very friendly and the service is great.

First time trying this restaurant and it wont be our last. The staff are amazing especially the young lady who served us. The food was 1st class. We asked for 2 portions of spiced onions to take home and she never charged us. 10/10

Excellent venue for genuine, aromatic Indian food. The quality of the cooking did justice to the raw material. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Well priced and great value for money. Thoroughly recommended.

This had a lot to live up to with word of mouth singing its praises and it totally lived up to everything said about it , the food was fantastic and the atmosphere great as everybody seemed to be out enjoying themselves but i just want to point out the best thing about the restaurant and that was the service. Ive been in many a fine indian establishment but none matched the quality of the service from everybody on the staff, they were so polite and attentive and when asking for another drink it was there in 30 seconds , please move to Aberdeen so you can show some of the places up here what it means to be the best. Back to the fantastic food , I had the Garlic chilli chicken and the gf had the Chicken Masala which she said was the best she had ever had , both superb meals and a fine way to end our week in Glasgow

My partner and I love Indian food, whilst visiting Glasgow, we took the opportunity to visit this gem of a place, the staff were lovely and the food was a absolute treat. The dishes were beautifully authentic, this won't be our last visit. It's a good idea to pre book as it was busy when we visited.
Thank you to the team at Obession of India your doing a great job x

Been here a few times already. Amongst the best Indian restaurants I know worldwide. Delicious food and very friendly and attentive staff. Pretty authentic and laidback place without bells and whistles.

The most authentic, delicious Indian food I've had for so long! Tandoori King prawns to start are a must (I've never seen prawns this size in my life). Chicken Tikka Smoked Kahari is out of this world! To top it off the staff were so polite and friendly, if I could give them 10 stars I would!

Really good Indian food! Exactly what we needed in the end of our one day trip to Glasgow!
We booked the table for right after they opened so we were the only people in. Staff was super friendly and really helpful! Food was delicious, perfect portions! And prices I guess were normal for Glasgow?
I definitely recommend!

Obsession of India is a real gem of a curryhouse. The food was exquisite, the curry flavourful and spicy (we ordered madras) and the naans were delicious, too. The staff are lovely. Super friendly and accomodating. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We loved it. It was our first trip but we will be back. I didn't manage to get pics as we dived right into the curry.

The place is absolutely fabulous! We had a fantastic experience having dinner at the Obsessiion of India, thanks to great service provided by attentive and efficient staff, and the wonderful food. Don't miss out on this gem

As the owner stated the place does not look like much but the food is fabulous.

One of the best Indian meals I have ever had. Quite a small cozy restaurant, and a bit old fashioned in layout and decor but in a chic retro way. Staff were very pleasant, given both Ala carte and Pre-thearter menu, a lot of interesting dishes, we had the Pre-thearter as we needed to be quick, I had fish pakora my wife and our friend chicken pakora- all delicious mains were brilliant just the correct size portion, not a desperate Dan size but more than enough, I could still move after eating it, sometimes with Indian restaurants they give you so much you feel like a beached whale but this was an ideal amount. Lovely meal and will be going back.

“Can that many people be right” is the question I asked myself on the 25 minute walk from the hotel I was staying in for the night, “could it be as good as they say”. Well the short answer is yes!
There’s a reason this place is rated number one at the time of writing, serving up a meal that turned out to be one of the nicest Indian meals I’ve had in a very long time, maybe ever.
I started off with the Chicken Tikka Malai Boti (not before a few popadoms of course), which turned out to be the most tender, juicy piece of chicken I have ever eaten. Marinated in yoghurt and garlic, tender before being baked in the tandoor it was packed with flavour,l and meant I knew it was going to be good from here on out.
Next it was the Chicken Tikka Shahi Karahi, perhaps the nicest curry I’ve ever eaten. Packed with layers of flavour, Smokey, spicy, sweet acidity from the tomato’s and a bite from the raw ginger. The type that you can smell the second it leaves the kitchen, the type that the waiter brings over with a smile knowing how you are for experiencing this for the first time and the type that’ll make me forget a plain old tikka masala for the rest of my life.
So yep, it turns out a 1000-odd people are alright, this is THE place to go if you’re up for a curry in Glasgow, enjoy all those who are lucky enough to live within its presence!

Not had a decent Indian meal in Scotland for 6 years
This was authentic tasty food.
Not found anywhere before that doesn't also sell pizza kebab and those awful munchie boxes
Worth the trip into Glasgow highly recommended

2nd visit here. Just as good as the first. Very friendly and efficient service, good range of dishes. A very pleasant evening all round

Lovely food, staff and restaurant. Excellent service. The balti was a little spicier than average but delicious 😋

The best meal we had in Glasgow - wonderful! We were going to Mother India but went here after a recommendation. I can honestly say I think it was the best Indian meal I've ever had. I would highly recommend visiting this place - you don't need to book but worth doing so if you don't want to miss out. Also, try their Indian cider!!!

Another fantastic meal courtesy of Obsession! One of (if not) the best Ruby Murray’s in Glasgow. Great speedy service and food with such immense flavour. Also highly recommend a take-away from here, foods just as awesome in you’re own front room watching the telebox, superb!
Watch out for lime and soda, you’ll be hit for £4 a pint! Absolutely scandalous!!!!
F. S.
It was delicious Indian food for a fair price and the people there were super kind. Will go there again when visiting Glasgow 😃

Visited Glasgow for the bank holiday weekend, so good was the food we visited 2 times over the 3 days...

Massive fan of Obsession of India. The staff are the best and the food is excellent. It's slightly more expensive then it's competition but it's worth every penny. Recommended is the smoked chicken tikka karahi. 10/10

Food is fantastic. Service is good. Reasonable prices
Only issue is that the toilets are up a steep flight of stairs so not good for those with limited mobility.

Really delicious Indian food (especially the lamb!) and top-notch service!

the service was impeccable! i walked in on a busy night and was seated immediately, and despite the busy crowds the servers were so attentive and kind. my only complaint is that the chicken (i got the chicken tikka curry) was over-cooked. i’m sure if i had ordered something else it would’ve been delicious though! i definitely recommend this place to others

Amazing, delicious and unique food, super friendly staff, beautiful design, great location, nice, warm, cosy. Definitely coming again and recommend visiting!

Had the lamb biryani, vegetable pakora, peshwari naan. Very good food. Peshwari naan was easily the best I've tried. Polite and authentically Indian staff. Deserving of five stars.

Delicious indian food! With so many good reviews this place did not disappoint us. The place is nothing fancy and the beers are slightly overpriced, but the food is definitely fantastic. I had the lamb masala and would highly recommend it. Nice friendly staff too.

Not in a part of town you would pass through by accident but worth making a detour to try it this restaurant. It's not a large place but there are plenty of nicely spaced tables to provide a good atmosphere. Staff are great, really helpful and friendly. There is a good choice of food, all the normal choices plus a great selection of more unusual dishes. Really good selection of vegetarian options too. Staff were great in ensuring our group knew what was vegan, vegetarian or other. The food was nicely presented and tasted really nice. Definitely will get a return visit when I'm next in that side of town.

Amazing service and amazing food! What can I say? The servers attended to us exceptionally well. Offered to change the dish if I didn’t like it, which was never an issue as the food was outstanding. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Couldn’t have asked for better service or a better meal! Highly recommend

The food was delicious, The environment was very pleasant and we even got a dessert.

Table booking was easy, service was excellent but food was at best average, starters were quite obviously pre cooked and microwaved, main course was nice but just didn't have that 'freshly cooked taste......OK but expected better.
