We both had ham egg and chips which was excellent. The pub looks a bit run down and was serving only bottled products on the lunchtime we visited, but they were all well chilled. Service was friendly.

Awesome place!! The food is fantastic - I can recommend the slow cooked beef brisket; the beers are well kept - certainly all the 'Tributes' I tested were; And Steve and Dodger create a great, friendly atmosphere. And we came home with fresh duck eggs that are available from the bar!!!
[Update - 21June2019] Went for a return visit. Just as awesome!! Had to have the brisket of beef again - slow cooked in Tribute Ale and Jack Daniels. Huge slab of beautiful beef that just falls apart in your mouth. And the sauce is so rich! Fantastic meal. And - of course Dodger came into the bar to see everyone. Thanks to all at the coalhouse inn, especially Steve and the chef, for a really great evening.

We were on a long walk from Tewkesbury. Lovely pub but beware it's not always open and only had a choice of bottled beer. Landlady very nice 👩🏾

Good setting, simple pub grub. No draught at time of visit only bottles
Staff friendly

They're trying, but Covid seems to have had a lasting effect. No draught beer or soft drinks.
Staff were helpful, but its not the experience we thought it would be; Other reviews on here are pre-Covid.
Limited opening hours, so check before you go. Understandably, as a traditional pub, maintaining a detailed online presence is not their number one priority :)

First time visiting due to recommendation. Food was just brilliant, the pork belly was the size of my forearm! value for money is great!
the atmosphere was your usual local pub, hustling and bustling! the manager has great charisma about him and very chatty and welcoming!
wouldn't hesitate to visit again

Excellent briskets. Fine ambience. Steve was a great host.made us feel very welcome. Great selection of wines and ales. Nice horse (everything will become clear). Don't confuse this place with the Coal Bar and grill at the Quays which quite a few reviewers seem to have done on Trip Advisor. This place is honestly great.

Amazing place and amazing food. Steak on the stone was most amazing steak I’ve ever tasted. Host was second to none - and even his shetland pony made an appearance! Will be coming back again soon! Make sure you book in advance as it is popular and like animals roaming around the place - personally I love it!

Fantastic food, amazing host.
The food is the best quality we have tasted in as long as any of our group could remember and the price is very affordable. Steve, the host, is a great guy making everybody feel welcome and has a (justified) pride in his food. The atmosphere was perfect and we would all love to return again soon. I would recommend to all.

AMAZING FOOD AND HOSPITALITY.
We have ALWAYS had a lovely experience, with amazing hospitality and food.
The portions are large so wear your stretchy clothes and be prepared to take some home.
We are trying to go through the menu and what we've had so far has been delicious.
Treat yourselves. You WONT be disappointed.
Steve and Kay the owners, will welcome you like you are friends. Kate, the beautiful waitress is a star and will serve you always with a smile. She goes out of her way to make your meal enjoyable.
Thank you Steve, Kay and Kate
Also, love to Dogde the miniature pony.

Have taken the family and eaten here several times. Also visited here with just the missus for a date night: the landlord set us up at a table on the lawn overlooking the River Severn with an aperitif and starter then invited us indoors when our Steak-on-a- stone wash served, OMG ssssso tasty. The owner used to be a butcher so you know that the meat is gonna be superb. Nice selection of ales & plenty of soft drink options too. Good food and lively atmosphere - the landlord is a very welcoming host and a jolly good laugh! Arrive, kick back and enjoy...

This is an outstanding place to eat and drink, the food is second to none, whatever you choose on their menu you will not be disappointed. Everything is to very high standards including the staff, who are incredibly helpful and will give you lots of information about the history of this delightful Inn. You can always enjoy your meal and drinks and surrounding scenery. It is also a beautiful place to stay if you want to get away from it all. I would highly recommend this Pub to anyone looking for a good night out or weekend away.

Fantastic location, brisket was amazing and a nice range of drinks. Friendly and warm ambience, you feel part of the family. Met the Dodger, and Steve was a great host. Im sure we will be back.

Huge portions but great quality. From a really good chicken and chips or ham egg and chips using good fresh ingredients which all the family will be happy with to braised beef cooked with whisky and peppercorn sauce to die for, a pork loin (special) large enough to feed a family or cook your own fillet steak on a hot stone which is the most juicy steak you will ever have.
Down side - Steve only opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtime and often closes during the winter due to flooding which leaves you dreaming of braised beef until the spring and in the summer the riverside location can make it very busy, but if you phone and book this should not be a problem.

Delightful weekend stay at The Coalhouse Inn. We stayed in the self contained apartment above the pub. It was very comfortable with enough space in the bedroom for a cot for our toddler. The living room has a view of the garden and the river Severn.
Our 2 yr old had an amazing time. He got to play with the hosts grand-daughter, feed the ducks and stroke the pony.
Kay and Steve are lovely hosts and very welcoming. We had the steak and ale stew which was delicious. They have a lovely selection of wines and ales. We had a wonderful weekend and would definitely recommend the apartment.

Lucky enough to have spent a couple of days as guests in the apartment. Great location, well equipped and clean. The hosts Steve and Kay could not be more helpful. All this and the added attraction of the resident ducks, chickens and not forgetting Dodger the Shetland pony. Would recommend to anyone looking to chill out. we will certainly be back. Colin & Sue

Great pub in a great location! Just called in for a couple of pints during a walk! The landlord made us more than welcome! Felt like we were old friends! Didn't get to eat there but throughly enjoyed our visit!

Used this pub on this weekend along with five friends. We were staying at a local campsite (Red Lion) and found the Coalhouse by pure chance (Google area pub search)
What a welcome....A PROPER pub landlord who couldn't do enough for his customers. He was friendly, chatty and gave truthful advice on the menu. One of our number had the 'steak on the stone' option....Superb choice. All the meals were served together and all were of the best quality. 10/10, 5 stars, or whatever you want to say, this was top nosh served in a fantastic location right next to the river.
Please, do NOT miss the chance to try this pub.....I only wish that we lived closer as I would be in there all the time.
NOTE ....Only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday...

Excellent evening- had the fillet steak for my part and others in the party, the brisket. Portions are a good size so don't go for a starter unless you're hungrier than Hungry Jim McHungry....
