Lovely meal and good value for money with plenty of choices on menu. Was full after main course but still managed dessert which was amazing. Brownie and ice-cream, jam sponge and custard and donuts with ice-cream were all delicious. Great friendly service too.

The food was amazing! The fish is not too oily and the place is cozy! I wasn't able to finish my portion of large fish n chips so they gave us boxes to put our leftovers. Front desk is lovely and service is fab.

The best fish & chips in the UK! Excellent service by Suzy and Danielle and their efforts to make guests happy were exceptional. They even made a lifelong dream possible by frying up some mars bars as a delicious dessert although they are not on the menu anymore. Absolut must go to Restaurant for locals and tourists! Thanks to Suzy and Danielle and we will definitely return.

The fact they clearly identify GF on the menu is always a huge winner for me.....they understand Coeliac's and allergens and I trust them. I ordered a medium haddock and chips with mushy peas. The batter is so light and tasty, fish was beautifully cooked and I enjoyed every mouthful. Our server today was one very happy Libby, she never stopped smiling and was very professional, an absolute delight.... Great customer service. I haven't been here since between lockdowns and it's so reasonably priced, my meal was £8.99 plus drinks. My mum opted for the Senior Special £8.99 and that includes a pudding too. See you all next time!

I had the sage patties and chips, my partner had the fish platter. Staff where friendly and efficient. It was my partners irthday, and they brought him chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream, and a candle in it, whilst 3 staff members sung happy birthday. Very good service, would go again.

Good food. Lovely decor, great customer service. Couple of things I'd like to point out : bigger serviettes/napkins, bigger plates, is nicer when you have some free space on the plate and the fish is not hanging outside the plate. The girl with the glasses serving in the up sitting was quite professional.

Having booked a table we waited 20 minutes for our table and a further 40 minutes for our food. But unprompted, the restaurant gave us a further round of drinks and knocked all drinks and all side orders off the bill. The service was very polite. All the food came in large portions, the haddock was thick, white and very tasty, the batter was crisp and dry, the sausages and patties were lovely and the sides and sauces were excellent. The Fish Platter is certainly recommended. All served with Yorkshire Tea. Food heaven.

It was mine and my mums first time visiting this particular one as we normally go to the Bilton Papa's. The food and service was really good, great prtions and very accommodating with the menu. The interior was amazing i loved how it showed the old fish fryers. There are seats set out over 3 floors so if you have mobility problems let them know if you book a table. It wasn't busy when we got there at lunch but as we was leaving it was proving very popular.

The food was very nice, and reasonably priced. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. The only thing I would say would be that the chips were warm, and not hot like the rest of the food. Other than that was brilliant and would recommend!

Sadly disappointing for 2 of us, the third enjoyed hers but for me the chips were not hot enough and lacked that just fried taste. My scampi was far too bready and lacked any real substance - for me disappointing. For balance though back to the one who enjoyed hers, she said the medium haddock was larger than she expected, was very hot and overall was enjoyable. The restaurant was very spacious and the staff very attentive but I won't be returning.

Fantastic fish and chip dinner! Visited on a Saturday evening as a party of 14. Efficient, friendly service and excellent fish and chips. The kids loved the slushes that came with the kids menu and the large haddock, fish pie, and scampi were all to perfection. Mushy peas and curry sauce great too 😀 Thank you Papa’s!

We come here every week for our fish and chips as we find it’s much better than the average fish shop. We’re usually served by Yvonne and/or Matthew and they are both so welcoming and friendly, especially to my little girl who’s autistic and has to bring an item in every time we come to the takeaway which they make a fuss of. They always pay attention to the individual requests I make on my order too and I haven’t had any issues using papas so far. I’ve also overheard Yvonne dealing with a complaint on the telephone and she was very professional and handled it accordingly

Great service, great food. Would definitely recommend . Plenty of choice including vegetarian options of battered tofu or hallumi. Huge portions, different sizes of Haddock, medium was enough for me and I have a good appetite. Very crispy batter on the fish, tasty mushy peas.

Previous visits to Papa's have been great and some colleagues had been raving about it recently so thought I'd pay a visit. The chips were a bit hard in the middle and the fish was a bit tasteless and the batter was soft and not crispy. They seem to have gone downhill and really 3 stars is generous!

It's OK, was it as good as it used to be is the question when they first opened the first papa's in Hull ??? unfortunately NO, the very young staff who serve are great, just the product is letting there efforts go to waste or maybe there fryers just can't cook with what they are given in front of them due to lack of produce in this present climate. Same with there restaurants unfortunately, we will still use them for convenience as other fish & chip shops have a very limited opening times available. Hopefully Papa's will turn it around and get back too there quality ways soon.

Very friendly staff , good choice of food , has the right ambience for sitting down and having a meal , the food came out hot and a nice portion for a hungry diner , drink choice is wide on variety and always served well always feel looked after when I dine at papas , I've also used the drive through and the service is at a nice pace and food comes out hot , the car park is big enough if you want to eat in your car or take home , I've also walked into the takeaway part and the service is always friendly and a nice amount of chat not over bearing like some places I always recommend papas when family visits and never has anyone not agreed with my statement, see you soon papas .

Absolutely delightful meal, we began walking in asking for a table of 4 and were seated promptly. Fantastic service from the staff and perfect timing with asking for drinks orders and food orders. They really have it down to a tee. I had a large cod and chips, the batter was beautifully light and the fish was to die for, which was perfectly complimented with the lemon and salt that danced around the palette with ease. The chips were a perfect balance and paired beautifully with the meal they weren't overly oily and added an amazing base to the overall dish. I had mushy peas and gravy as sides, I couldn't figure out what the stock for the gravy was but it was stunning, a great deep and rich flavour that allowed for hints of vinegar and salt to come through on the chips, the mushy peas was the ideal. No over the top mint flavourings and it was unbelievable. The home made Tartar sauce was to die for, the shallots really added to the body of the sauce. The milkshake was delicious and again, I could not fault the service.

Ate in here today for my work’s Christmas dinner. We wanted a change from the usual Toby Carvery across the road. I’ve eaten here before and have always been impressed. It is a spacious venue and the staff are always very professional and helpful. There were 6 in our party; 5 of us got the large haddock and chips, in a bid to not be outdone by the other, and 1 got the seafood platter. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and there were 5 clean plates afterwards. The 6th plate let the side down as their eyes were bigger then their belly and tried to cover it up by playing the pensioner card. We plan on making this an annual Christmas tradition.

The staff were very smartley dressed and very professional. We didn't have to wait too long. The food was quite expensive but you did get quite large portions. We asked for tomato sauce for our kids, two big pots arrived. Unfortunately it didn't taste very nice. The batter looked impressive but didn't really taste of anything and was quite greasy. The ladies toilets were a bit scruffy, only two toilets were available and one sink didn't work.

The interior decor is a bit dated and there’s a lingering stale smell of old paint, carpet and furniture. Wow… took my family and mother-in law for her birthday at the Willerby restaurant. We all ordered different items but all delivered at the same time, this is great when dining as a family. Our waitress was called Katie what a lovely, friendly, helpful young lady. She took time to explain all side options and sauces and brought us everything that everyone asked for ( lots of different requests.. Tartare, Mayo and even Coleslaw) she kept checking if we needed anything else. And was everything okay which it was. The food was all fresh and delicious. I have never been here before, but we decided to try it for a family meal and we were so glad we did, it's more of a dining experience than a restaurant! There are plenty of staff on hand to look after you and ensure that everything is taken care of. The food is cooked to perfection, the surroundings are well furnished and relaxing, and unlike other restaurants the drinks are very reasonably priced. I tried the jumbo haddock, it was massive! You really should pay this restaurant a visit, you will not be disappointed!

Have to say there are other takeaway fish shops that are as good and in a few cases better. Sue says stick to the fish. Our most recent visit shows the quality very good particularly the batter but unsurprisingly a large haddock is not quite as large. Also I don't quite understand why potato scallops are available in the take out but not to eat in...

From the cheerful greeting when I arrived right up until I left, everything about my first visit to Papa’s was pretty much 10/10. The restaurant itself is spacious, nicely cool, immaculately clean and when I arrived at 1730 on Saturday was not too busy, in fact I had a choice of tables. The toilets are also spotless and obviously regularly cleaned. Table service was impressively polite, professional and efficient. Sophie looked after me so well that I was surprised to learn that she was new to the hospitality business. This demonstrates a successful blend of natural skill, good temperament and the excellent training which was apparent in all the staff I encountered. Now to the crunch, the food: I am quite a big chap with an extremely big appetite and when I arrived at Papa’s I was so hungry that I contemplated starter, main and dessert but after a chat with Sophie I decided on the Giant Haddock and a pot of tea. My tea and bread and butter was served very promptly by a polite and cheery young man soon followed by my haddock which was indeed “Giant” and looked and smelled fantastic! Perfect crispy batter, beautifully cooked, fresh tasting fish accompanied by delicious chips and mushy peas. Not greasy in the slightest and I must say that after many years of enjoying fish n chips all over the country I would definitely award Papa’s a 10/10! Even the pot of tea was good so I ordered another to wash down the last of my meal . Even with my appetite I could not squeeze in a dessert but was tempted by the menu. I was also impressed by the menu options for my vegan and vegetarian pals and family members so will be returning with them very soon. Thanks Sophie and the young fella who served me, thanks to the chef and thanks to Papa’s keep up the standard and great work

Willer you - Fish great but chips are old and overcooked. Don’t expect this from here. Haven’t been for a while as last time was in Scarborough where the outside eating area was dirty and food all over the floor. I emailed the company and didn’t even get a reply. Won’t be back.

Good selection of menu as you would expect from a fish and chip restaurant. Hot, Cold and Alcohol drinks are available on the premises. Menu includes dessert if desired and optional side extras to accompany the main meal.. Some starters are also offered from the menu. This venue includes dining on different levels within the building that have steps in places but also offers seating on ground level. Portions of the main course range from medium to large with Haddock but only large with the Cod dishes and they are ample, special smaller portions are included on the menu for the over 60s in a Deal offer. Good Service provided along with table service. Outdoor seating available as well as take away service.

I live 6 minutes drive away and the food was pretty much cold by the time I got back. I had a special order of Cod which was overcooked and as they didn't do "small" cod the meal was just under a tenner. Not as good as it used to be, should have realise half 7 on a sat evening and the takeaway area was almost empty me and one other.

Had my 60th birthday meal here. They let my daughter decorate around our table earlier in the day with banners and balloons. There is plenty of choice on the menu including vegetarian dishes and the amount of food on our plates was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was excellent and very attentive. I know as a vegan this review is probably not going to receive much consideration as people come for the fish but oh well! There’s one single vegan option on the menu (Tofish), and each time we go for a family meal it’s fairly disappointing to see that this hasn’t changed. The first time I tried it I’d hoped that it would be firm tofu seasoned and maybe mixed with some shredded nori for a faux fish flavour, but it’s literally battered sliced silken tofu, which is insanely bland. I beg you to fry the patties in vegan oil so that they’re vegan, I love patties and just want some flavour! It’d also be nice to see vegan tartare sauce, I considered sneaking some in last time 🤣

A colleague told me about this place and what a place it is! Upon walking in you're welcomed by a sailor themed decor, very fun, quirky and fitting indeed. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very helpful. And the food was absolutely amazing. I ordered a medium haddock and chips and the batter was so light and the chips were done so perfectly. Not to mention the swift serving time! It is kind of expensive compared to your local but I felt it was worth every penny because each little bite is that much better. I used Papa's take away in Willerby regularly for Friday lunch and the standard is excellent, it's simply the best F&C shop in the area, but sadly I can't say the same for the restaurant side of the branch. Four of us had an evening meal there and I found the food to be only just warm enough. The restaurant uses cold plates to serve and this cools the food even faster. The table we were seated at wasn't particularly clean either and there was food on the chairs I had to clean up before I could sit down. The service was reasonable, although empty glasses and bottles were not removed and our coffee order was overlooked but it did arrive after we prompted it. Small things that if improved could make Papa's a really top venue to eat.

We called in for a family tea on our way back from The Deep and we were very pleased with our choice. The restaurant is set out across multiple levels with tables grouped in small numbers. This didn’t really affect us as we ate early in the evening but I imagine it would really help to break up the noise and feeling of a such a large place when it’s busy. The service was quick and efficient and we really enjoyed our food. Fish and chips all round were well received with good sized portions of hot and crisp food arriving promptly. There is plenty of parking and it is well placed to get back on to the M62.

We use the click and collect service, which is great. I have the gluten free fish which is brilliant. My criticism is with the chips, the last few times we’ve had them they’ve been terrible! We couldn’t eat the last lot of chips in the order. They taste really dry, they have a rubbery texture or are really hard and sharp to eat! I’m really disappointed as we’ve not ordered since and as a celiac it is hard to find anywhere that serves gluten free.

Went to pap's for the first time today good friday 2021, understandably we had a bit of a wait. However over an hour and 20 mins later, they brought our order to our car. Visited Papa's for the first time the other day and I was really impressed! I loved the interior and layout of the restaurant and the newspaper style menus are a nice touch to fit with the fish and chip theme. Plenty of choice on the menu too, including some good vegetarian options and the portion sizes are massive!! My one suggestion would be to add a vegetarian option to the burger section of the menu - something like a halloumi and mushroom burger maybe just for an additional veggie choice, that would be perfect! We all really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back to Papa's in the near future!

Absolutely wonderful food. My partner is a coeliac and was blown away by the Gluten Free choices available. The meal was very filling and I know I couldn't have tackled the giant haddock! I would have given it 5 stars but for the wait to be seated which involved a discussion on the location of the ladies toilets! The only thing I can say is maybe a slight negative is that the chips are maybe a little too dry and lack that slight soggy Ness your favourite local chippy you would have. If you are over 60 they do the senior special of fish chips and a dessert and the fish and chips are the same size as a regular fish and chips so great value. Very popular place to eat and always busy. If going in a large group I suggest reserving a table before you go. There is also outside seating for those warm summer days and a nice bar area with a decent selection. Quite like the mini Museum aspect too. Eat and enjoy :-)

Great food at a good price Updated 20-10-2018 2 stars at best now. Sat quickly the place was busy fair enough. Ordered food and drinks 1 small beer 1 large soda 2x fish and chips plus bread. The bread arrived first then 5 minutes later the drinks. 20 minutes after that the food. I asked for the bread to be changed and it was taken away with more butter added before being returned on the same dirty plate. The young lad looked bemused as to what the problem was. No sooner had I just cut into my fish we was being asked if it was ok. Please at least give us time to try it. The fish was bland and the chips was cold. The only good part was the soda. Sorry Papas it was rubbish.

Was warned upon entry that there was an electrial issue so glutton free was off the menu.No worries for us though. We was prompty seat and with in a few minute the waitress was back to take our food and drinks order. Drinks was with us in a few minutes but after 10 minutes after that the manager came around the tables to say that the elecrtical issue was effecting all fryers now although they had an engineer onsite now trying to rectify the issue and thanked us for our patience if we didnt mind waiting a tad longer. Again no worries for us so sat and waited with our drinks. Much to our suprised a waitress came around with complementry starters of a prawn cocktail with the manager also announcing that everything was fixed and our food should be with us soon. By heck thought it was worth the extra 30 minute ish wait . I'd order the chip shop platter (10.99) and the wife got the large haddock (10.49). Both fishes were huge. Mine over hanged the wooden platter on both sides and was in lovely golden crisp batter. It came out on with a mound of chips in the middle and a large Patty and sausage at the other side. I couldnt even attempt to eat my fish without clearing the way of the chips patty and sausage. The wifes haddock was a monster being over a foot in lenght and 4 to 5 inches wide. Despite the oval shaped plate it was brought out on it still was hanging over the edges. Papas also have a giant haddock on the menu but cant think how much bigger that one could be in comparison the the large haddock. Safe to say we both stuffed afterwards. Yet there was still one more thing upon paying for our meal,as we stuck it out and waited, we was given a £5 voucher for our next visit which we will happily using in the near future.

We visited Papa's Willerby as a party of 12 adults, and had a very good experience. We were seated and our orders taken within 10 minutes, and the food arrived within another 15 minutes. We had haddock, cod, plaice, calamari, scampi, fish skewers, fish cakes, pattie and sausage which was all cooked perfectly. The manager and the waiting staff were very attentive and saw to everyone's needs. Very good all round.

We came to papas tonight for my sons 16th birthday. The food was lovely, as always, and the staff were great! There were 8 of us and the timing of food and drinks was spot on. They let me take my sons cake, banners and balloon in at lunch ready for the evening as he didn't know anything about it. When we arrived they had set the table up with his balloon on and put the banners on the wall. After we had ate the staff brought his cake out and even sang happy birthday with us. Took our friends to Pappas willoughby last Saturday night for my birthday.Had been raving about it to them . We have been 4 times before and I must say I was disappointed this visit. The staff were 5 star as usual but the fish and chips disappointing. I love crispy batter but it was alot more crispy and quite chewy . The other times we have been the fish when cut into has been chunky and so fresh but although the fish on th plate looked huge it was all batter. The chips were disappointing and tasted more like oven chips. My husband said the scampi was nothing to write home about. Feel disappointed that I am writing such a bad review.But was so looking forward to it.

Takeaway food is very good, this outlet doesn't seem to offer the same specials as some the other outlet in Hull. Papa's need to keep the outside tables cleaner if only wiped down a couple of time a day would reduce the amount of bird lime etc on the tables. Otherwise can't fault it.
