Reviews of Zaika
t. t.
This was a fantastic venue. The food was brilliant, service was smooth and flowing. Promptly asking if we would like drinks but not in a pushy way. We went in for a work meal table of 14. Food all near enough came out all at the same time all piping hot. Also a good selection for the vegetarian of the group. They were very busy and large parties were coming in, more seating upstairs.
Would highly recommend.
Only criticism could do with a revamp of decor but not the biggest issue.

My Son and I are just back from, simply the best Indian in Ipswich, Zaika. The Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. They are very experienced and will even guide you to the food that will definitely delight your palate.
The authenticity of the food is amazing, presented nicely and within a reasonable time frame..You can't go wrong. I would highly recommend Zakia. Unfortunately due to the new COVID pandemic the restaurant has received several cancellations...I would say be sensible and try this place...I know you won't be disappointed.
K. W.
Great Indian restaurant with a good selection of dishes from starters to desserts. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining dishes to us. The one thing I did find unusual is an Indian restaurant with a choice of desserts. I would recommend this restaurant, but must book in advance to avoid missing out on a table.
M. D.
Just fantastic! Friendly staff, amazing food! We popped in on chance for a nibble: the sashlik was perfect, tender, moist and perfectly seasoned. Lamb tikka was sublime and chicken pakora again tender, juicy and succulent. Generous side salads, an excellent mint yogurt and a chutney(?) that wasn't too sweet and complimented everything perfectly. Highly recommended in every way.
C. L.
Lovely food good sized portions good service there is a service charge added onto your bill just so you are aware. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
P. S.
Very good Indian restaurant, lovely flavours and good service.a little expensive but what Indian restaurant isn't. Wine and beer avaliable. Good atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing experience from booking to walking out the door. I'm Celiac and lactose free so for me finding somewhere to eat this kind of food is near on impossible but I normally have a korma which makes it impossible to have as its mostly cream but as soon as I called up to book they went to the trouble of going out that day and buying me plant based cream that I suggested and then made everything we had gluten free. Although Indian meals as they assured me should mostly be gluten free if cooked properly of coarse there is still a chance of cross contamination so they went to the trouble without asking to cook everything my table ordered to be seperately just incase I wanted to try some. AMAZING to say the least. they even did gluten free lager. The staff were so polite and helpful and the food was just as great. Can't praise them all enough. what a treasure of a restaurant, thank you all so much :)
R. A.
I ate that chicken special curry. It was really good. Service was good and they take AMEX.
m. g.
The best curry we've ever had! Great service, a selection of unique vegetarian dishes, all of which were delicious. Absolutely superb!
O. S.
Amazing!
I was going vegetarian for January so was apprehensive as to whether there would be enough options for the veggies but to you can literally have anything and choose your protein! I had never tried paneer before but the waitress explained what it is (Indian cheese) and what main it suits best.
Really rapid and high quality service.
I'll be back!

Without doubt the most authentic cuisine, great staff - the team there literally were the very best especially regarding my daughter who was treated like a princess. Wonderful food 😋
H. O.
What can I say other than, it's not a coincidence that every single time we eat at Zaika, the food and service is excellent!
Despite being short staffed during this pandemic, Abdul and Kashwi still maintain such high standards in both food and service.
As much as we would love for Zaika to be nearer to us, it's probably a good job we have a 50 mile round trip otherwise we would be here every week.
From the first time we came here, we have never eaten Indian food anywhere else.
So if you haven't been here before, make sure you try as you won't be disappointed.
Thank you Abdul and Kashwi for another lovely meal x
R. M.
Had dinner with my family at this wonderful restaurant yesterday and we all came away extremely satisfied. First of all, the service is excellent: the waiter had complete knowledge of the menu and gave us advice on what to order. The food itself was exquisite, packed with flavour and authentic. Overall, I am really pleased we came and we'll certainly be back again soon!
J. B.
The best Indian in Ipswich. Amazing food and perfect service
k. f.
Amazing food and service definitely be going back
G. H.
Best Indian meal I've had since... I can't remember. Food excellent - possibly even better, staff frienly, helpful and smiling (well, I think so, behind their masks!!), prices very reasonable. Probably worth booking on a Friday or Saturday. Enjoy!
M. F.
Lovely food and excellent service, friendly and polite staff will definitely be returning.
S. S.
Great place to go and great tasting food as well very busy restaurant always book ahead if you can as busy nights mean either a long wait or no seats available... They do a great takeaway as well... Parking nearby and it's not far from places to have a drink at before or afterwards
B. S.
Probably the best Indian restaurant in central Ipswich. Fresh flavours, portion sizes are just right, the curries aren't half sauce, and great service.
Always busy and you're better booking ahead of time.
M. L.
Excellent customer service the waiters were really lovely guys. The food was very tasty eyes to big for our bellies though. Cant wait to go back
H. O.
Have just had another amazing meal at Zaika!
The thing we love about this place is that no matter when we go, we never have to worry whether the food will be as good as the last time...you can't improve on perfection!
The reason why we drive a 50 mile round trip is because what Abdul, Kashwi and their hardworking staff do is go out of their way to not only serve you the most delicious food, but are so attentive and the service is second to none!
Keep doing what your doing guys which is why is you reap the rewards with how busy you are.
Look forward to coming back soon...Helen and Kane
G. B.
Small India restaurant very welcoming servers. Been here several time and food always well prepared and served. No pushy or delayed service for large groups. Traditional Indian dishes and mixed with UK ones on menu. All dishes spiced to you taste.
H. C.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Food is amazing. Huge choice. I personally love the Nepalese chicken. Highly recommended 👌
n. s.
We had a team night out here last week. Staff were efficient and friendly. Food was very tasty, quite a bit spicier than some other local Indian restaurants. Good size portions and reasonable prices. Atmosphere is a little quiet but we were upstairs in a smaller room
A. K.
Excellent, absolutely amazing, best mix grill I have had in a very long time, delicious, excellent spices, juicy & melt in your mouth. If ever in Ipswich, 100% recommend it.
G. J.
Very good food and drink and the staff are so friendly. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family.
K. L.
Food was excellent everyone had a positive experience.
However on this occasion service was slow with an hour wait for food
M. G.
Have eaten here three times now, excellent every time.
While visiting Ipswich for business we have eaten here. Once was a very busy Tuesday evening and the other a much quieter Monday evening. I would suggest that booking ahead is a good idea if there's more than one or two of you. Last time was another Tuesday which again was fairly busy but not full.
The range of dishes available is great and the quality as good as I've eaten with dishes being full of subtle flavour not just overpowered by strong hot spices.
J. H.
We went here for a birthday celebration. I love Indian food and eat it quite often, yet I can sincerely say that this is the best I have ever had., every item was spiced and cooked to near perfection. The location was also very good, great food, attentive staff and despite it being quite busy we were always looked after. Completely and utterly worth it.
C. M.
Great food, portion sizes are good and very reasonably priced. Always polite over the phone and delivery service always on time. When eating in the restaurant the staff will do anything to accommodate any special requirements. Plus they don't force a service charge on you bill when in a large group like other places. (Naturally we tipped 10% anyway). Anything not finished you can take home which is another nice addition to a good night. Only a selection of three wines (1 red, 1 white and 1 rose) but unless you're a big wine drinker (I'm not) this is easily overlooked
E. D.
Absolutely incredible. We have been friends with Mac for a while and decided it was about time to pay him a visit at his new work place. So glad we did. Such amazing staff members and great food. Lovely atmosphere and not to crowded. They also have an upstairs space for more diners as well. The food menu is really well laid out and so much choice! if you can't decide on what to have then you can ask one of the staff and they will happily suggest something for you. Mac does really well handling the business and treats all guests really nicely. He always tries to make time to have a chat with everyone and puts you first in making you feel welcome. I recommend this Indian 10000% and always will. Thank you so much Mac and Shahan for a lovely evening. Full of laughs and great food and drink, what else do you need? :D
M. O.
This is a firm favourite for me and a few of the guys from work. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the staff are very friendly. The menu is varied and the food is great. Will be returning soon without a doubt.
S. T.
Great food and service probably the best Indian in Ipswich. All had a great meal in our party never had any reason for complaint in the last 5 years of going there. keep up the good work
R. G.
After a visit to the Empire Cinema I really fancied an Indian meal. I googled Indian Restaurants and found Zaika, I'm so glad this restaurant popped up in my search. The food was fantastic and the service was attentive. The cost of the meal was good too. Had a gorgeous shaslick Next time I'm in Ipswich I'll be coming back here again.
J. W.
Had a meal here last night and highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service was second to none. The ambience was fantastic, the food was fresh and delicious and the staff really seemed to care that you had a great dining experience.
I.
Really nice food, good service. Table was a little cramped but would recommend.
A.
A cosy little restaurant in town centre with delicious food.
When we arrived we were greeted by the hosts, who took our party of four up the stairs to one of the two dining rooms. The upstairs room while small, did not feel cramped as they have made good use of the space with their table placement.
The food was excellent. I had chicken tikka for starters and it was perfectly cooked. And chicken bhuna for main which again was delicious.
The staff were very attentive and polite, I could not fault them.
I would consider this a once every so often curry house because of the price, but don't let that put you off as the food is 10/10 and well worth a try, will definitely return.
C. W.
Poor service, staff were not attentive. Food was nice but wrong dish bought out. Toilets are horrible and really need a refurb. However I would go again as the food was tasty.
P. B.
Best Indian I've had in Ipswich really nice food and drink selection and very nicely priced meal for 4 with drinks came in at 80 quid which is in my eyes very good. Naans were really nice in particular and well seasoned.
V. T.
Very good food.. fairly tasty.. north-Indian style.. reasonable price.. value-for-money.. good place for groups.. less ambient though.. not much options on drinks.. still a recommended option!
V. R.
Thank you guys - onenof the best Indian restaurant in ipswich. The owner lady and the boys who work there were very friendly and ensured that customer service is the top most priority. We were a team a 38, as the night went along- alchohol started playing its role but the owner and other guys continued to remain positive through out the night. Thank you for the amazing food as well! 🙂
A. P.
The door opened just before 5:30pm. On time. I ordered a take away Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. Quantity enough to serve two and taste is great. They ensured I have all kinds of chutneys and sauces to go with it and of course poppadum. Enjoyed the dish, would like to go again to try other dishes. 👍
V. M.
Fantastic meal had . 5 * and more . Staff courteous , accomodating , and caring
Food was absolutely delicious . Would Def recommend.
T. D.
Really like Zaika - lovely staff, very tasty food and good value. It's the best curry I've had in Ipswich although my view is far from complete. Open late.
M. v.
Must go place for Asian and who like tase on thier tips in Ipswich. Enjoyed a lot with thier hospitality and lovely taste 😋
R. F.
Classy Indian restaurant with excellent food and service. Professionally run with a reputation locally as the best in Ipswich. I believe they also cater for the takeaway trade.
E. G.
Nice food staff very helpful
L. H.
Often visit this place with work colleagues, friends and my wife. The food is always very good and the owner is absolutely lovely. It is also good value and located in a good spot. Definitely recommend.
J.
Came here last week, wasn't really expecting much but Wow this place blew me away. Brilliant food bite after bite. Zaika special and sizzler was amazing. Nice friendly service, my compliments to the chef. Will be visiting again very soon
P. J.
Fantastic menu with imaginative dishes.Absolutely top notch food with high quality, fresh ingredients and excellent service from friendly, knowledgable staff. Relaxed atmosphere in this very historic building.
C. M.
Such a great restaurant. Food was amazing loads of vegetation options. Staff were fantastic opening the door as we left, sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. Thank you. Would recommend to friends and family
P. S.
Small and bijoux food very tasty.
C. S.
What a find. Happened to be in Ipswich and found this wonderful Indian down St Nicholas Street. The food was superb. The dishes were cooked fresh to order. I will definitely be returning.
F. B.
The service here was brilliant. Had the layered biriyani which was really tasty and unique to this restaurant. It is the traditional way biriyani is cooked. It did take a while to get the food but the waiter (Ashiq) was really nice.
M. l.
Food was excellent and well priced.
Facilities were OK but are located upstairs.
Service was quite slow however, partly due to the restaurant being very busy.
M. B.
Best curry house in Ipswich by a country mile. Excellent food and really friendly staff. Price is slighlty higher than average but it is worth every penny
F. L.
Tasty, good service and decent prices
E. A.
I think it's the best restaurant if you want to eat a great curry. You can book a table for two or more, or you can also order by phone and collect it or get it delivered. If you collect it you can have a discount (20%) on order or £20 or more.
The food is amazing. We usually start with popadoms with a selection of dips (really tasty), or meat samosas and onion bhajis (both are so great!). Then you can choose between mild, hot or very hot currys with meats such as lamb, chicken. You can also have prawn or fish currys, and they also have vegetarian currys. Then you choose your rice (pilau, egg fried, meat fried or prawn fried, and even vegetarian ones). You can add a naan (i love the garlic and coriander naan).
They even have English food on the menu (for people that are a bit picky with what they eat, or simply for those who are not fan of currys).
They have a very good mango lassi. They have selection of desserts as well.
All the portions, whether you eat there or at home, are very generous. You won't regret it. And all is extremely tasty.
L. B.
Our first visit to this restaurant and for sure it will not be the last. We had such a lovely evening; a great welcome, good service, and fabulous food. A very pleasant experience which we shall be repeating very soon.
A. W.
Lovely food! That’s it!!
M. G.
And excellent south-asian restaurant, which not only has the regular "english" curries, but also a variety of others. Staff helpful, courteous and friendly. Always a good sign when you see other south-asian origin customers coming to use the place. I will definitely go again. God willing.
P. S.
Have eaten at Zaika many times always greet you like a long lost friend, nothing is too much trouble, if its not on the menu they will cook it for you, takeaway or dine in its all excellent, The Best Indian in Ipswich
p. k.
Cozy little Indian restaurant in the town center and an all time favourite for most folks in Ipswich. Mostly busy, Reservations recommended.
R. L.
Absolutely amazing service and the food was out this world. First time at Zaika last night and won't be our last. Thank you 😊
C. R.
First time coming here and I can say I was more impressed was greeted at the front by very kind and polite staff very well spoken once I was upstairs and ordered our food and drinks the starters was amazing I had the cheese sag onion bahji and garlic mushroom puri they was all amazing and freshly cooked with great seasoning for mains I had the tandoori mix grill with prawn fried rice it was a dish packed full of flavours and a bit of spice overall my experience was beyond amazing I haven’t experienced anything like that before and for the first time it was great I really recommend this Indian cuisine the staff really take pride in their job and it’s great to see I am 100% coming back at least 1 time a week thank you so much for the experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
D. E.
Very nice Indian, good food at a fair price with a very friendly service.
Lost a star only because the bar prices are a bit expensive.
P. R.
Best curry in Ipswich go regular can't do enough for you just be patient at busy times. Best dish chicken and mushroom tikka balti
M.
Awesome food and great service! One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. Unfortunately, the room is a little narrow.
C. K.
Had the best meal ever. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was incredible, i wont be ordering tika masala ever again! Thank you x
A. M.
Fresh and tasty Indian food, reasonably priced and served by friendly waiters. Best Indian in Ipswich for reasonable price. Try it. I love the Naga chilli curry.
K. J.
Okay place for Indian food. They neither offer a perfect blend of Indian receipies nor have real Indian food as they claim.
Visit India, have food there and you'll notice the vast food quality gap.
R. B.
Great lamb Ceylon and all round tasty food had by the whole group
h. h.
Loved the curry, brilliant keema rice and delicious starters, lovely meal out
L. G.
Went here on a Friday with a friend for 5.30pm without booking. It was made very clear that we had to vacate by 7pm.
Every two or three minutes we were needlessly being interrupted by the waiting staff and it seemed to us that they just wanted us out. chose a Chicken Chilli massala and my friend had some mild dish. Sundries consisted of a dead looking Keema Naan.
My Chilli Massala wasn't even chilli hot, made to a poor standard and the Keema rice lacked favour.
My friend could only eat half of his food, claiming that it was awful. A quick taste revealed an extremely bland un flavoursome dish.
We paid £47.00 including drinks. What sucks is that for around this price we could of gone to one of the good restaurants along the Waterfront for anything far superior.
D. C.
I have eaten 3 times recently in the restaurant which was amazing every time, just had a takeaway and it was absolutely delicious. Book a table and allow plenty of time for takeaway and you won't be disappointed
S. F.
Hands down the best Indian food in Ipswich. Eat in or takeaway, you will not be disappointed!
D. B.
I've not tasted anything close to this, truly worlds apart from the competition, delicious from start to finish. Its not just a meal out at Zaika, its an experience where perfect food is complimented by great staff.

Great Indian restaurant in the historic St Peters St area. Great menu, lovely building and very friendly and helpful staff. My favorite Indian restaurant in Ipswich.
