Reviews of Zaynab Indian Cuisine

Great quality Indian food. Extremely tasty and a great selection of curries. Really enjoyed our visit and will try it again when we’re in the area.
K. H.
Beautiful Indian restaurant located just off the A12 coming into Capel St Mary.
Beautiful atmosphere in here and the gents are all very polite and helpful. Lovely experience we would recommend, and the food itself was well cooked and tender! Defiantly one of the best in this area!
A. D. S.
So we went to this one because you guys rated it quite high which made me want to check it out myself, and I have to say, I quite agree with you.
I went for the Vindaloo, personally as a chilli head, my personal preference would have been to have it a bit more spicy, however it was indeed quite spicy, but I do like it VERY spicy, mainly because I eat raw chillies, Carolina Reapers etc.
The dish itself was very tasty and had a lot of substance, sometimes you go to places and it's just thick'ish coloured water with a couple of bits of this and that in it that tastes quite bland, and made spicy with lots of chilli powder which ruins it even more, well, this was NOT one of those places!!
As I said the dish not only had substance to it by having more than 3 sparse ingredients in it. but it was very flavoursome as well, a top notch dish.
My coconut rice could have done with slightly more coconut flavour in it, don't get me wrong you could clearly tell it was a coconut rice, I just put a bit more in mine, but I would very happily order this again and again.
The saag Aloo was spot on for flavour and put together very well, with perfectly done potato's both in this and the Vindaloo, which also had a good amount of chicken in it as well which I forgot to mention, however it could have been a bit more tender.
Both my friends dishes were also well filled out with meant and other relevant ingredients, and I was assured they were both very tasty.
My last little note, is that for the price I would have liked to have seen slightly bigger portions, we normally pay around £15 to £20 less than we did here for similar dishes and drinks.
Overall a very good experience and I will be going back here again, mainly to try the all you can eat buffet on a Sunday!

Wow what a surprise and yes this was a recommendation from Tripadvisor. Once again not in the top 10, in fact number 16 of 286. Looking for someone to eat with good reviews and our travel or distance to the venue not an issue. Long story short, we arrive by side of the A12 to see what looks like a closed little Chef. With the clouds gathering my wife wants to go and get back home before the rain. I need to feed and open the door and walk in and by now we have also seen a poster for A travelling Elvis. Intreagued? So was as we had seen the Elvis impersonator some 9 years earlier. More doors, we enter. The room before us is full of tables laid and in waiting for feast to be served. No guests or staff in sight I call out and so begins our feast. The Food! The appetisers, popdoms with beautiful accompaniments, starters fresh well cooked chicken with great spices and flavour, Salmon tandoori dry cooked and charred to perfection. Main dishes Tandoori King Prawn shashlik and Lamb Num Num with pilau rice and sagaloo. All very fresh cooked perfectly and with spice so well balanced. This really has to be tried to be believed. We will definitely be visiting again soon, and big thank you to our host and server Nasim.

It was the Sunday lunchtime buffet menu and it was a very English Curry menu. Good acoustics and pleasant background music. Tables far enough apart to not worry your conversation was being overheard.
G. E.
A Great Discovery . Went because of the great reviews. Wasn't disappointed. Lovely venue, which filled up as we ate (we had booked early). Non intrusive music playing in the background. Waiters were friendly and welcoming. Food on the menu offered traditional indian cuisine but also some less predictable items. The food was well presented, plentiful and delicious. The prices were reasonable. We both had chicken tandoori to start then chicken tikka biryani and lamb madras with special rice, onion bahji and a garlic nan bread - also two glasses of diet coke each and generous coffees which all came to £58.70. They do have a dessert menu which comprises of various ice creams but we were very full so didn't partake. It would have been nice to have been able to have a fruit salad or mango/pineapple etc., and they might consider having decaff coffee available but now I really am nit-picking. All in all had a lovely indian meal and will definitely be going back. Might avoid the nights when they have their Elvis tribute on, but that's just our preference and I would imagine it would be very good, if you're into that sort of thing, since the act has appeared on various TV channels and radio. Just leaves me to say .... nice one Zaynab! PS. Loos are very nice too!!! ☺☺☺

Absolutely incredible food! Best Indian we’ve ever had! They food took a time to come out but we preferred that because we didn’t feel rushed but just make sure you have enough time when going for a meal! Very good service, lovely staff and amazing food!
D. G.
What a wonderful meal. Everything was perfect. Could not fault the food or the service. Thank you.
Was my son's 7th birthday and they surprised us with this lovely ice cream and played happy birthday for him.
f. w.
Another great experience dining here. Sam and his staff are very polite and the food is delicious especially the lamb bhuna. They always ask after my son Charlie who likes to order his takeaway chicken tikka masala and rice from here.
Perfect every time we visit. Thanks guys!
C. S.
Food was tasty, but be aware that they add VAT to the prices stated in the menu (its in the small print on the front of the menu). Felt a little underhand.
T. K.
Very quiet but it was a Wednesday evening. Staff were welcoming and charming. The food was good and the service efficient.
L. S.
Four of us had a absolutely fantastic meal there tonight ,highly recommend ,definitely be going back
J. L.
If you get the chance to go you wont be disappointed, the food was excellent and the service quick. Couldnt fault it ,a little pricey but worth it .
K. S.
Zaynab Cuisine is a wonderful Indian restaurant for dine-in and takeaway. Delicious as always. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Occasionally the service can be slow for takeaway so I recommend calling ahead for takeaway orders. We love coming here, so close to our family’s neighbourhood! @spiffingtravels

Indian food isn’t my favorite but this one changed my mind!! I enjoyed my dinner, I recommended the nice fresh scallops for starters…superbe, I will come back for sure !
R. R.
Good food and nice setting but very expensive even in these times
b. b.
This is a nice restaurant. The food is good. We went for the Sunday Buffet, and it was very pleasant.
S. W.
First time visit and very impressed. Tasty dishes & the best we have had around colchester and Ipswich.
D. D.
The place was absolute banger, me and my partner were on a road trip and we stopped for an early dinner tuesday. we had this young lad who served us and despite being busy managed to talk to us about a lot of things. i think they are short staffed as the lad was the only one we saw working. The foods were exquisite and compliments to the chef. Highly recommended
S. A.
Had dinner here last night, and cannot fault it. It was absolutely brilliant!! From the service, to the venue to the most important part - the food - was all amazing.
It has all the dishes you expect from a typical British Indian (we tried the masala and it was a winner), but it also has authentic bengali dishes which were a hit too!
So if you're looking for a venue that is spacious to make you feel safe in this environment, food that is genuinely "authentic" indian and service that is friendly and accommodating, this is the place to go.
I can't believe it's only 10 mins away from us so we will be visiting more often. Can't wait to try the other dishes!
S. B.
This was my first time at Zaynab - really couldn't fault it. I collected my food (having ordered on-line) and it was ready (and hot) when I arrived. Ordered 4 main dishes and 4 sides and they were all excellent (maybe the Indian lamb shank and the Brinjal Bhaji were the pick - but it was a close run thing!). Also, the staff I met whilst collecting were friendly and the restaurant looks like it will be nice and airy when it's allowed to re-open - so I think I will also try them out for "eating in" as soon as we can.
G. L.
Amazing food even better service, friendly staff. The whole restaurant was clean and tidy. Will most defiantly will be returning and this was my second visit.
P. B.
Most attentive service, really good food, every time too, our daughter and husband are regulars, understandably
S. B.
The dishes are just so tasty and filling. The ingredients are fresh and flavourful. We had the king prawn biryandi and lamb passanda dishes with garlic and plain naans. The portions are large for an Indian and great value for money. By far the best Indian we've had in this area.
J. W.
First time at this restaurant. It was recommended to us. You wouldn’t just happen across it location wise. There were 4 of us. The food was delicious, all of our dishes were really tasty and served piping hot. The service was polite and friendly. Probably the best curry I have had in a long time. Would highly recommend this restaurant. 👍
L. C.
Without doubt the best Indian restaurant for miles around, you will not be disappointed.
L. H.
The nicest indian meal I have eaten, had the chilli lamb shank. The meat fell off the bone. The flavours were absolutely gorgeous.
A. M.
Excellent Indian food... loved it ... the best one in Ipswich
S. S.
I've been here a couple of times now and the food is spot on every time! I recently saw an Elvis tribute act here and it was everything I hoped for and more! I recommend visiting the Zaynab even if it's out the way!
a. e.
Very good food, not greasy and I was able to eat all of it and feel pleasantly full. Great decor and felt very welcome with a 6 month old. They do have a table in the disabled loo which can be used as a changing table. Clean and chilled atmosphere. Really recommend.
j. f.
Last time I ate here, unbeknownst, they had booked a lounge act, a sole performer. He wasn't bad, just way too loud for my liking. Nevertheless, the place was quite packed. I thought the food was good, as usual, but because of the volume we had to get to food to go. Next time I'll call ahead.
S. D.
Last nights dinner here was amazing! Fresh, hot and very tasty food. Would definitely go again when next in the area. Shame we were the inky ones in there as if didn’t have much of a eating environment. 5*’s
A. W.
I had my first ever takeaway last week from here, as opposed to a sit down meal, and it was the best Indian takeaway i have eaten, and that's saying something given that 'The Spice' in Hadleigh is also superb. Very very tasty, plenty of it, pure quality! We have booked a table this week :)
K. B.
Best Indian food you'll ever get in the UK. The food is incredible - and I mean incredible, you must try it! Sam (the owner) is also one of the nicest guys you will have the pleasure of meeting if you choose to go. On my most recent visit the chef has started decorating the plates with a beautiful tasting sauce, that only enhances the food even further. If I could give this place 10 out of 5 I would do that. If you like spicy try the Sizzling Chicken its amazing! If you prefer mild then go for the Shashlick chicken or lamb, served on a sizzler with peppers and onions and tastes incredible!
H. P.
The food was fresh and tasted good with a hint of south Indian flavour. It was not too hot or spicy for the children. The chicken was however so chewy that my 5 year old was not able to swallow. This is the first time she has been to a restaurant where she has not been able to eat the chicken. The portions were reasonable but not generous. The service was OK, but appeared lacking in experience. You at times had to look around a lot to be acknowledged for something that you need. When asked the waiters did not necessarily remember what you asked and you has to ask again. On a sour note we were made to pay an extra £4.25 for the chutneys that came with the poppadoms which you pay another £4 odd anyway. We never had to pay for this before anywhere we have eaten. This was odd. Thus based on our experience we have mixed feelings about this place and unlikely to be going out of our way to get there again.
S. C.
This place was brilliant. The food was delicious, the staff were welcoming and the interior was beautiful. The only quirk was that the food was a tad spicy for some of my family, but that's just because we went for the spicy "Indian style" version of everything. It's a brilliant place to eat. Try the mixed grill platter it has some really good items and that biriyani is decadent!
c. R.
Birthday bash Sunday lunch Buffet all u can eat chicken & lamb dishes very good will go agen try out the full menu 😋 keep it up boys more customers will come 5*
c. c.
Been here for the first time and the food was delicious, the staff very welcoming and friendly. We live far away but if we will be passing the area in the future will be a come back 100%.
R. H.
This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The whole experience was phenomenal from the welcoming staff to the exquisite cuisine, also the ambient atmosphere. Compliments to owner and the chef !
D. M.
Excellent food with plenty of subtle flavours. Whilst many Tandoori restaurants have a lot of very oily heavy dishes, this place is far better. The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant is nicely decorated. My current favourite Tandoori.
M. G.
Not been open long so though we would try it out. A fixed price buffet taster night, food was very good, not quite excellent yet but this may improve with time. Very busy and a good atmosphere. Drinks a little expensive. Beware no lights in the car park and some deep potholes, I nearly took a tumble!
J. T.
Food was good and the staff very friendly and polite, not to badly priced
S. A.
Excellent food, very good find in the Essex area. Lots of parking, lots of space and tables, ambient is quite nice too, timely service. Food was the best part, really hard to find decent desi food, loved the paratha and rezala chicken. Will definitely be going there regularly. Also all food was halal except for lamb shanks
O. H.
Excellent restaurant - the food was tasty and not too expensive, the dining area looks great (not to mention very clean) and the service was exemplary. Well done!
A. 2. S.
Yeah was ok nothing special £73 for 2 people.
J. B.
Food was excellent, freshly cooked, would definitely recommend a visit. Only negative was the lights were very low, so had to use lights from our phones to read the menus.
S. T.
Fantastic food. Been 3 times now and never been disappointed. Staff friendly and attentive.

P. N.
We've been going here ever since the opening night. The service is excellent and the food is top notch. We've been enjoying their takeaways since the Covid lockdown and look forward to dining in soon.
M. T.
Very very good food. Probably the beat the of it's type I've eaten. It's slightly more expensive than the average but delivered massively more in quality. I rarely visit Suffolk but look forward to returning to Zaynab. With food I'm ....allegedly.... hard to please, this restaurant gets a 10/10.
K. A.
Very very good food, one of the best I have eaten in 70 years of eating Indian food. Prices reasonable, £55 for 4 people, more than we could eat. Highly recommended. Ken
N. L.
Excellent but pricy.Spent nearly £100 on takeaway most was good however my lamb Madras was the worst I've ever tasted it was like someone had put suger in it. Absolutely dreadful 😫
M. A.
Delicious food and hospitality, my family loved it. Brilliant customer service, definitely visit again...
