Reviews of Little Tokyo Restaurant

We were lucky to get in without a reservation after an early evening cinema trip. It'd been many years since my husband and I had visited. Pleased to report its still just as good. We both ordered bento boxes and everything was fresh and tasty and served very quickly. Cannot complain. Next time we will opt for a sushi platter - that look amazing (serious food envy!)

Absolutely fantastic food, such a great find!! If you love japenese food this is the place for you. Food is fresh and presented well. Staff are friendly and helpful. We went on a sunday so could book a spot to feed the koi karp, my nephew loved this!! Such a nice little activity to do. The dim sum was delicious and definitely a dish too try. Will be back 😊

The food here is absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend this enough. The staff are so friendly and were more than happy to help. The food was also unreal, the best sushi I've had in UK and the chicken Karaage starter was by far my favourite.

Went there last Saturday early evening as a party of 4, as a first visit for all of us.All the staff wore masks, as did most customers when walking too and from their tables. Quality of food was excellent and the portion sizes for both starters and main courses were just right.
Service was very friendly but had to remind them both for our drinks order and then for the bill even though it didn't seem terribly busy.
More concerning was the lack of soap/gel in the gents toilets or a working dryer for your hands .

My favourite restaurant, I have loved little Tokyo for years and was so happy to be able to go back after the restrictions were lifted, I felt safe & comfortable, the food was amazing as always ❤️

I just popped in during a shop around Leeds, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food! 😋
The portions were just the right size and the prices were extremely reasonable.
I will definitely be visiting again the next time I need to eat when in Leeds! Highly recommended 👌

We went on a Thursday night - service was very slow and we had to ask to order. However the food was extremely good with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The staff were very friendly and polite.

Our meals were delicious, great quantity and fair prices except maybe our starters.
Sushi were big size and noodle soup was bottomless. Menu is online, you scan a QR code on the table to access it which is very good during this covid period. Meals on the menu are well explained. Try their chrysanthemum and honey drink, it's so soothing!
They made a to-go bag with what I couldn't finish so I can enjoy a bite of Japan at home. Sake is available for £5 (6 shots).
The restaurant itself is very confortable, plugs are available under the tables to charge your phones if you had a long day in Leeds. The atmosphere feels very authentic.
The staff was welcoming and polite, wore masks the whole time, very good in these times. On a busy Saturday night they still made themselves as available as possible.
Only issue is the downstairs bathroom which was in a shed and very grim, like in a camping area. You can tell they tried their best to make it comfortable and welcoming with candles and decorations. I hope they get the opportunity to renovate it soon because it is the only part of the restaurant that was not nice.

Are you looking for a cosy Japanese Restaurant in Leeds? Little Tokyo Restaurant would not disappoint you!
They serve the best Bento menu in town. In addition, we are obsessed with their Stir Fry Yakisoba. It was flavoursome. The portions here are very generous too!
Highly recommended to everybody! Check it out!

2 of us came here for Lunch and drinks and were seated straight away and our order taken very promptly. We order two of the set lunch menus as well as some extra sides and the food was simply sublime. So fresh and well presented. In particular the chicken karaage, the ebi katsu and the salmon make. The sake we ordered with and our 2 pints of Kirin were simply faultless. Well worth the £47 bill and we will 1000000% be back again very very soon. Arigatou Gozaimasu!

Little Tokyo is fantastic, there's no quick or easy way of saying how good they are! Their vegan options are great, the atmosphere is amazing and the staff are always so welcoming and attentive. If you're sat upstairs it's a great vibe but the basement area is amazing, the seats are great. Little Tokyo will forever be a favourite, such great food with amazing options at fantastic pricing!

I have been here three with my girlfriend and each visit has been fantastic. The nicest chicken wings I have ever had and the gyoza are huge and really packed with meat (much more so than other gyoza I have had). The mains we have shared have also been really delicious. Neither of us have pushed the boat out and trained the sushi yet but perhaps on the next visit.
The staff are really attentive and incredibly friendly. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the music they play is awesome.
Highly recommended if you love Japanese cuisine or want to try it for the first time.

Had a lovely meal on Monday evening. Food arrived quickly, the service was very very good. I recommend the salads too! It was a little cold beside the window, but I wonder whether this was due to extra ventilation for covid?

Went to Little Tokyo for the first time, the atmosphere was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious! We were really happy with the customer service we received and we are taking about coming again!

Good resturant! The chicken ramen had great tasting broth but unusual vegetables, I wouldn't put snap peas in it, and it had a bizarre rooted leafed plant too. I had the fried button sushi which was tasty. Place looked a bit worn and dated, could use a refurbishment. I did love the koi fish pond and bridge. Reasonable priced. Nice staff.

Delicious, had such a lovely meal. Would recommend to anyone :)

Little Tokyo is such an amazing place. The food is delicious and the cocktails were great! Despite the place being super busy, me and my boyfriend got our food pretty quick.
One thing that I disliked was the fact that one waitress kept looking at our table but didn't take our order and instead took the orders for other tables close to us. Other than that our experience there was so so good and the staff were the kindest people ever.

Were fortunate enough to find this place when we couldn't find the place we were looking for! Lucky they could seat us with a reservation. Good covid rules. Felt comfortable and safe. Staff were lovely. Food was great! Not expensive but good value for money. Would go again.

I absolutely love this resteraunt. It's my special occasion place to go. A fine dining experience, with fresh Japanese cuisine, friendly staff, and a great aesthetic. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to try something new/different, or to just have an overall good time!

Great food ☺️ Was no space inside but there was tables outside. Only downside is that the service for outside was a little slow but overall I love Little Tokyo and will 100% be back.

The aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful even had a bridge over a coy fish pond. The staff are very friendly and available regularly if you need anything. The food is exquisite and presented nicely and the cost is appropriate to the quality. Fully recommend.

What an absolute gem. Loved the food, the presentation, the ambience. I can't wait to go back.

Authentic Japanese food for a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I've been going here for years, and it still remains tasty and unique. I recommend the seafood Udon and the sesame ice-cream.

The sushi and bento box we had were great. The staff were very friendly but a little slow when it came to bringing us the bill.

Such an amazing place. Very unassuming from the outside, but inside is absolutely beautiful. A surprise visit for my birthday, and they did not disappoint. Very good food at very reasonable prices! I will definitely be returning

Superb food, good service reasonable prices and wonderful ambience. Had a great welcome and great service throughout the meal. Can't wait to go back.

This is a restaurant I used to go to for every birthday when I was younger, I took my partner for their birthday as I had to show them how great it was, we had a fantastic time, the food was amazing &, as expected, very authentic, and there was a sparkler in their dessert and 'happy birthday' played over the speakers, as I'd mentioned the occasion during the meal. Was so lovely to go back, can't wait to again

I have always loved this place. Polite staff and delicious food and drink. Highly recommended the fried tofu, prawn dumplings, yakisoba and plum wine. You won't be disappointed!
D. M.
Lovely atmosphere, fast service and great, reasonably priced food! You won't leave hungry as the portions are very generous. Would definitely recommend 👌

Very nice, friendly and authentic, not too expensive, 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 4 soft drinks, the bill was just over £50. My daughter loves it and goes frequently, she took me for lunch as a treat.

Wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend.
Service and staff:
All very friendly and super helpful. They were prompt with our drinks orders and our food came in a very reasonable time.
Atmosphere and décor:
The whole restaurant is very well furnished and decorated in a very exaggerated Japanese style. It has a koi pond that greets you as you enter the main dining area which is a great touch. We were seated downstairs which was also set up very nicely. There was blossom trees and bottles of what I assume was sake. The only downside of the downstairs area is the lack of natural light and phone signal. However, there's free WiFi for the latter.
Drinks:
We had cocktails, wine and a draft Asahi beer. The wine and beer were really nice but to be expected from any nice restaurant. The cocktails were more special, they had nice twists on classic cocktails such as the passionfruit margerhita. I had a mojito that was above average.
Food:
Firstly, the menu is massive and very varied with great options for meat eaters and veggies alike. Lots of seafood too if you're pescatarian or just like that sort of thing!
We ordered about 3 dishes per person consisting of a starter, main and side. The starters were amazing and really blew us away which was a fantastic start to the meal. The mains and sides had the same effect, they were truly great quality and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
Mains recommendations would be the chicken katsu curry, ngiri set (particularly the salmon and tuna ngiri), and the sashimi set (particularly the tuna sashimi). For the starters and sides; the dim sum was unreal and the gyozas were also fantastic.
Prices:
Drinks were a little costlier than I would have liked but it's in Leeds city centre so it's to be expected. £5 for a pint and an extra pound or two for the cocktails.
Food was very reasonably priced considering the volume of good you get and the quality. I personally spent around £15 for all 3 dishes I ordered and I was pleasantly stuffed at the end.
All in all, great place. Will definitely be going back!

I got a bento box and my partner steak. As usual, high quality food, delicious, however, be prepared to pay above the average prices. I think the prices are worth for the food and the service they offer. The waitresses are attentive and very polite, the place is looked after and clean.
