Reviews of Murgatroyds
P. S.
Lovely place to come and eat. Lots of choice. Not just fish & chips. Licensed bar for those of you that like a drink. Fast and efficient service despite the restaurant being full. Very tasty fish & chips. Large portion of fish. The restaurant was also very clean and tidy. Well worth a visit.

A lovely treat for tea, crispy fish and good size, even the smaller choice had plenty, the curry sauce was yum and you get plenty of bread and butter. Choice of restaurant or take away. Always busy so would be worth booking, although when we queued for restaurant it didn't take long before we were seated.
Staff were attentive and friendly.

Hands down the best Fish & Chips! Look at that light and crispy batter…
My family always have a great time here. Ordered the Billy Murgs 2 Course special (includes starter or dessert, peas and tea or coffee) so I ordered Calamari and Tiger Prawns for starters. The parents ordered the Citizens 3 course special for £14 with Battered Mushrooms and Yorkshire Pudding for starters and Apple Crumble and Ginger Pudding for dessert. The Apple Crumble was yum!
Service was good; had to remind the waitress to bring the peas, and I think she may have forgotten one of our teas as we only had a small pot between us but we will know for next time!

Lovely restaurant. Fish has nice crispy batter. Our party was served very efficiently. Plenty of choice on the menu. Well trimmed up for Christmas. The conservatory is light and airy.

Update: Still fantastic 😹 Had a very tasty lunch today. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, which made for a very relaxing lunch. We love eating here, a treat and a half 😊
Original review: Fantastic trip to this lovely place. The staff were great and the food was brilliant. They're pretty big portions also 😁. They can be busy, so patients or booking ahead may be needed 👍

Highly Popular restaurant. Excellent Fish and Chips..... But there are other menu items too together with a large choice of traditional Nursery Puddings ...... Sponges and Crumbled with Custard or Ice Cream.
Friendly and efficient Service in a Spotless environment. Since the slow and sad demise of the once great Harry Ramsden's, Murgatroyd's is now the best in the Leeds/Bradford area.
Very busy Friday Evenings when West Riding folk take their High Tea.!!!

Only my second visit in 5 years! I should come here more often.
I ordered the Big'un and I definitely was not disappointed with its size. MASSIVE!! Comes with extremely large fish, chips, peas, mushy peas or baked beans also comes with tea (the teapot came with 3 tea bags which was good) coffee with 4 slices of bread for good measure, all for £21.50
The staff was very friendly and the place was packed. Big car park but not many places available.
Oh, and I couldn't finish it and I got a big appetite!!
My only very small criticism was the baked beans, I was told they were Heinz but didn't taste right. Think they were microwaved and not as tasty from a saucepan!

Loved this restaurant. Though quite far from the city center but it is a must visit when in Leeds. The best fish n chips and soup restaurant in the city.

My husband saw a Facebook review video from here and we travelled from Manchester to try it out!!
The food was absolutely delish! Staff were super approachable and accommodating.
Our two young girls (3&2) absolutely loved having their own sharing plate.
My only tip would be...we need you to be closer to home! 🤣

Meh. Not worth the prices they charge. This burger and ships cost £11 but came with frozen, stale and flavourless fries. The burger was dry inside. The salad was ok. Wouldn't recommend coming here for anything except battered fish.
