Many years ago I visited here and wasn't very impressed, but decided to try here again, to see if it had improved, was pleasantly surprised to see that it had improved immensely. Speed at which the food came out was fast, the customer service was amazing and super helpful, the food itself was well portioned and super tasty. The sushi was super tasty, extremely well priced, especially compared to other mediocre and over priced locations. Definitely need to visit again

Been here a few times, never disappoints. Can't go wrong with the ramen, sashimi, sushi. Sashimi slices are bigger, thicker than other typical Japanese restaurants too. good service as well. Luv that they show those Hong Kong foodie shows on TV.

The food was DELICIOUS!!! the Bento Box was HUGE! Our eyes were definitely bigger than our belly. The staff were really nice and we had a wonderful experience here. We will definitely have to return! We ordered: Miso soup, Edamame beans, Aomori King Prawn Dragon signature roll, Chicken Katsu roll and Waka's Chicken Bento Box⭐

I only started ordering from here fairly recently in the last few months but love the ramen and sushi here. Just better quality than many other sushi places in my opinion. Bigger portions, more flavour, better appearance, the soya sauce isn't too salty, the wasabi actually has some spice to it instead of being too pasty. There's lots of things I haven't tried yet as I always end up wanting what I had before. But really good. Only criticism is they take ages with the delivery which can be quite annoying when you are ordering for other people not just yourself.

Sushi Waka is an amazing place to try some great Japanese cuisine. Everything is freshly made and amazing thing is that it arrives a lot quicker than you expect. Sushi is lovely, always tastes fresh with a variety options to choose from, there's something for every sushi lover. My favourite though is the beef ramen which I simply think is to die for. Perfect combination of flavours, great broth, it's all pure heaven. So if you like Japanese food, you're around, don't go anywhere else, spare yourself the disappointment and go to Sushi Waka instead.

Ordered late lunch time delivery. It took quite a while and was not hot when it arrived. If ordering takeaway I’d avoid the tempura (always a risk with travelling but this definitely didn’t hold up). The prawns were dirty and veg was soggy. The yasai gyoza needed more flavour, the chicken gyoza were lovely. The sushi was fine, but I’d say the chicken teriyaki sushi tasted a bit like all the unwanted parts of the chicken. We ordered a few other things but I didn’t try them so can’t review. I think I’d eat in here again, but I wouldn’t order delivery.

Delicious tasty food! Absolutely love Sushi Waka. Polite staff who greet you with a smile and are always are happy to help. Only thing would be maybe some dishes could be slightly cheaper (we'd probably come more often if it was more affordable) but this is the case with most restaurants nowadays so that's why I'm still giving 5*. Takeaway has always turned up on time and we've never had any issues. The restaurant itself is beautiful too. Just overall really happy with everything and cannot wait to continue ordering from Sushi Waka :)

Absolutely loved it here! So I was invited here by a friend and didn't know what to expect. The staff were very friendly, chatty and really chilled out. The atmosphere was light and warm. We ordered a range of foods, sushi, Rahman, dumplings, fried chicken, a feast :) The dumplings arrived first, then the beef Rahman. I'd never tried a Rahman before so got stuck in... Oh wow! Delicious! I tried the dumplings, again delicious. I'm not a fan of sushi but, was encouraged to try ... I was blown away. The best Sushi I've tasted. This place is a hidden gem. I hadn't heard of it before but will definitely be going again. I was pretty surprised at how quiet it was but I guess it was a Tuesday evening

Nice and tasty food! Well presented as well. The only slight issue for me was a smell of cigarette smoke for a short time which probably came from outside (I had a table near the doors), but it disappeared later. The place itself is quite clean, some signs of furniture/chairs being used. There were not many people but I had my lunch a bit late, so not sure how busy it gets.

Went for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday, Sushi Waka was quiet and we were quickly seated. The atmosphere is modern and airy and the establishment is following enhanced Covid protocols asking patrons to continue to wear masks to and from their tables. We started with deep fried baby octopus which was exquisite. Perfectly fried and seasoned we ended up ordering another portion as we enjoyed it so much. The sushi was beautifully presented but I found it did not hold together as I would have liked. I suspect the rice was not allowed to cool sufficiently to allow the rice to stick effectively and this meant that some sushi pieces broke apart. The sesame seeds were well toasted which gave a nice earthy flavour to round out the sushi. Of particular interest was the sushi rainbow donut which was Avocado, Sea Bass, Salmon, Tobiko (Roe) and Tuna served on rice and wrapped in Nori (Seaweed). I think this is intended to be picked up and eaten by hand but I couldn't bring myself to eat it this way and as the rice fell apart again I suspect picking up the donut would have been rather messy and inelegant. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

Went for a lunch date, it was amazing. The food is so fresh so filling!! The customer service was great. The waitresses were professional and lovely! Usually Japanese places are very overpriced but the prices were even great definitely worth what you’re paying for. Would definitely go again!

Tried for the first time to get takeaway from this shop with a 20% discount due to the shops re opening again after the national lockdown. Fantastic quality and very well prepared food. Amazed by the chicken teriyaki don dish and the unaki king prawn dragon signature rolls were probably the best sushi rolls I have ever had! Will definitely order again! Drove all the way from Castleford to collect but definitely worth it!

Sushi Waka is definitely one of the best sushi places in Leeds (and much better value for money than chain places like yo!). The service is a little bit slow sometimes but I think that’s mainly because the food is cooked to order. The portion sizes are huge so it’s great value for money! The only thing I wish is that they did more veggie options! Love coming here and will be back really soon.

If you are wondering whether to get this as takeout, I recommend it! The sushi was really nice and the katsu curry too. The staff followed my request for no wasabi which was great as I am intolerant to it, so even if it was just next to a sushi and very slightly got on it I can't eat that one any more so I was glad they really read the request and did not put any in the sushi box. You can get 30% off on their app too! I recommend a delivery tracker for the app, but if not possible then a closer time estimate would be good, it said 60 minutes but arrived in 30 which is great but it would be handy to know how long it may take.

The food was really really good I've never had tofu that soft and fluffy before! the staff were very kind and knew what options on their menu were vegan friendly without having to ask seven people which put me at ease that they really knew what was going into their food. As for the none vegan options obviously I didn't eat them but there were 15 of us and all of the other girls I was with seemed to be loving theirs too. The takoyaki went down a treat and the staff were friendly.

I really love the food here, some dishes are amazing. so, I go every now and then while i'm out. the lunch menu deal is pretty good. Once however i didn't finish my food, and asked for the rest to go, they brought over a take out tray and plastic bag for me to pour my own food into which i thought was unprofessional. (Every other sushi place i have been to do it for you). They either don't get asked this a lot or don't like to be asked it. I'll keep going despite this, as it is yummy, but i do plan to buy less.

Awesome awesome food! Since moving up from London ive been dying for some authentic Japanese food and this really hit the spot. Reasonably priced considering the sizes, but im used to Eat Tokyo prices so 😅😅 decor is super lovely and the servers were probably the nicest ive ever had! The food came super super quickly, the only thing taking a while being the salmon sashimi don but the waitress came and apologised before i could ask where it was. Also the music is great, proper good east asian stuff like radwimps, taeyeon and twice!! Only regret is that neither me of my girlfriend could tip as we had no cash. Will 100% be coming again.

The first day I had a meal at Sushiwaka was in fact the first day I had eaten Takoyaki and it was delicious, and rather decently priced also. There is a large variety of Japanese dishes and sushi on the menu, I ate the spicy seafood ramen and it was gorgeous but sadly I couldn't finish my bowl as it was a hugely generous portion. There is also a lot of different drinks on the menu, including more simple bubble teas, which aren't the best in Leeds but are arguably decently priced. Overall, I had a lovely experience eating in this restaurant.

Having a girlfriend who lived in Tokyo for three years, I can say with certainty that this place puts out the best sushi in Leeds. The noodles and ramen are OK but not to Japan standards but the sushi rocks. We go regularly and have never had a bad meal, and it's not going to break the bank to order as much as you want;, yes lots and lots! We haven't had a meal over £60 including a couple of drinks each... 5 star!!

Amazing food. Octopus sushi is one of my new favourite things to eat. Reasonably priced. Knocked one star off due to weird timings of food coming - they delivered one main and had to wait 10mins for the next to come- was okay as we were sharing but would be weird otherwise. The restaurant wasn't really busy so did t quite understand why they couldn't deliver food at the same time. Also, took a long time to get served - seems they need a few more waiters! However, even though the food came and odd times a d you had a bit if a wait, it's honestly the best sushi I've ever had. Worth the waiting.

Fast, SUPER TASTY Japanese food at very reasonable prices. We visited Japan last year and this is one of the more authentic places we've visited (in terms of food) since. It's doesn't look 'traditional' inside and it sits below a Karaoke bar so don't be expecting high class dining. The toilets leave much to be desired and it's not dressy or particularly impressive interior but it's honest, great food. Get the Tempura fish! Another benefit is that you can ALWAYS get a table. When you find yourself in Leeds and everywhere is booked, drop in here.

I've been coming to this restaurant since 2014.. the food has been good ever since then, however, the portions have reduced drastically! The old owner from 2014 - 15 was more hospitable, but the new management has lead to an awful customer service! Some of the things that the waiters do are: - take our order in a haste - bring our food one at a time with a minimum of 8 min wait time for the next person to receive their meal, therefore when dining with more than 2 people become bad because the food get cold when waiting for the other persons meal to arrive - the toilets are really bad, maybe because it's shared with a karaoke place above the restaurant - they take your plates away without asking if you are done with them or not.. if it look like 3/4 of it is finished, they just assume it's okay to take it.. It's like they want their customers to leave the premises asap.. This restaurant has so much potential, but it needs more work!
