Reviews of Tharavadu
J.
This is an excellent restaurant. I’d particularly recommend the fish curry wrapped in a banana leaf. It looks absolutely amazing and tastes exceptional. The popadoms were also delicious too, and there’s a variety of them. The restaurant also had a nice vibe. However, the service was a little slow and we had to ask for water three times. It’s also very busy on a Saturday night, no doubt because the food is so delicious! I’d definitely recommend this place.

One of the best Kerala cuisine/Malayali food in Leeds. 😍
Authentic Kerala taste.
Large filling portions.
Affordable prices.
Friendly cheerful staff.
Clean, hygienic and aesthetic interiors.
Wide range of Kerala food and drinks.
Quick and excellent overall service.
I definitely recommend the Meen (fish) Koottan, Thenga Chor (coconut rice) and Kozhi (chicken) Biriyani. Worth all the hype. 😍
Also, their Pothu (beef) Ularthiyathu is amazing. The fish and beef were the best I've had in a while. 😍
In drinks, I recommend their Mazhavil (rainbow) and Pranaya Rasam. 😍 Fresh fruit juices.
Definitely recommend Tharavadu and will go again.

My favourite Indian restaurant. We went 2 years ago and basically returned to Leeds also to enjoy their food again.
Not the typical British Indian restaurant but an authentic Kerla restaurant.
We got a lamb Express lunch and a masala dosa.
Is also not expensive and the service is good and fast. Very clean too.

Have visited this place in 2014-2016! Used to love this place! And went there again! Service was good! Food could be better! The chaat was definitely good but the rest was Not as good as it used to be! And I felt, it was expensive for nothing! I used to recommend this place to others, but I will not recommend it here after

Went for lunch. Their chicken is halal. Took 2 dosas prices ranging from £9-11 ( masala and chicken one). They only has 2 dosas in the menu and did not have an option for plain dosa. Drinks menu was quite limited for people who do not drink alcohol. But the dosas were crispy and thin and I really enjoyed it with the Sambar which was absolutely delicious and it was accompanied by 2 types of coconut dips.

This is not your average high Street curry house! The food is fantastic; some crazy huge artistic creations in carbs and super welcoming and attentive staff. Nothing is too much trouble and it all arrives really quickly. Wish this was our local!

Excellent Indian food. Good portions and very tasty. Friendly staff as well. Highly recommended!

Authentic South indian food.
Super tasty, bit pricey but the food worth every penny you spend.
Nice Ambience and Good service.
Holding 1 start from review for having less Vegetarian dishes

This Kerelite restaurant is definitely a five star.
Ordered a chicken starter. It was filled with so much flavour. Every bite felt like you were in Kerela.
The mixed sea food had a really nice coconut curry.
Also ordered shrimp in a nice spicy curry which went great with parotta.
The staff were excellent right from the start to the end.
Will surely visit again.

One of the best Indian resturaunts I have ever been too as the curries and food was different to a normal balti curry house. Service was good and it was very busy on a Monday night! I would say it'd a coconut infused theme of curries and also had a good fish selection
D. C.
One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The food was magnificent, the service great and a totally wonderful experience
J. R.
Just wonderful. Coeliacs will feel v. safe here - they even have their own gluten free brewed pilsner and ipa as well as the range of items on the menu, including dosas and breads. Staff were really attentive and knew the menu really well. Not your typical place at all, flavours and bold and unfamiliar in a good way. The dosa really surprised us, again in a good way! Just excellent
A. F.
I don't get to Leeds very often post pandemic, but when you walk into a restaurant on a Tuesday night and both floors are packed and you're lucky to get a table, you start to hope that the food will be amazing. Why else would it be so busy?
It turns out the food is outstanding and every little bit of spice and taste is right up there with the best
Will definitely be back, great food, amazing service, top atmosphere.
A. D.
One of the best Indian restaurant in Leeds. It's a must try restaurant. The service was very fast and excellent. Amazing job!
S. R.
The ambience and service were top notch
Definitely worth a visit, gets crowded by 7 pm so check in early to have an Indian food experience
M. L.
You get really tasty, nicely blended seasoned food here. It really excites the taste buds and encourages you to savour and enjoy the meal. The clientele was really varied when I visited so I know that a variety of people eat here and seem to enjoy the food. The service is great and it is one of the few restaurants where I did not have to wait very long between courses to get my freshly cooked food. Well worth a visit even if you do have to make an advanced booking as it is a very busy place.

What should I say about this Kingdom of food , the heaven of taste and the mini Kerala in UK actually I would say mini south India :) Tharavadu is the hilt of Indian food in UK. I came to UK in Dec. 2017 but could go to this restaurant only in 2020 due to multiple circumstances but it was worth a wait. I have heard a lot about the taste , menu , ambience before going here . There was a lot of hype and euphoria about it but when I tasted the Kerala parotta with vegetable kuruma I felt like crying because good food can do that you . It brings back lot of memories and the emotions linked to it. I have been here thrice here and cherished every visit. When I went the second time I took my son and wife and we enjoyed it a lot. I even ordered via just eat and took a take away during the Corona season when the restaurant was closed for dining. Chutta meen, Kerala parotta, paneer starter, the pappadam starter, express veg lunch , Kerala chicken curry are some of my favourites here. The sambar they give for the dosa ignited my taste feeling to eat sambar rice. The ambience is too good with Malayalam and Tamil songs in the background which are so pleasant and goes well with the food. I still remember the Yuvan number (Oru naalil) from Pudupettai when I went here for the first time. You made me feel home , keep up the good spirits guys. I was served by Tom last time who was super friendly and me even more comfortable by speaking in Tamil.
A. S.
Can I say I did a happy dance when I came across this restuarant?to find your home food so far away from the actual place and to be able to just believe for a brief time you are back in kerala devouring the delicious food...absolutely the very best. Even the hospitality was mindblowing ..keep it up guys..
R. R.
I stopped by without a booking but they had a table for me. The lunch menu was simple and spot on with something for everyone to choose from. The table menu was a bit overwhelming for me with too many options. I liked their drinks menu, well laid out and quite a few options for any palate.
I ordered a lamb/mutton dish and chose the flaky bread called parotta, instead of rice, to go with it. Although I wouldn’t call it “authentic Kerala” the food was served piping hot and was very tasty. The portion was just right for anyone with a good appetite. I would have it again.
I then ordered a peculiar dessert called vattayappam. It was served with good quality vanilla icecream. This is something I would go back to this restaurant for. The vattayappam wasn’t freshly made as I would expect but it was a tasty treat that went really well with the ice-cream and the Armagnac I ordered as an aperitif.
The Armagnac was served how it should be and kudos to these guys for getting it right when popular pubs and bars throw in ice cubes even after I ask for it to be served neat.
Overall I had a good dining experience at this restaurant and I hope to go back there with friends and family.
H. A.
Tharavadu is one of the best dining discoveries I've made. This is a restaurant that prides itself on fresh quality, spectacular flavour and effecient table service.
Food here tastes absolutely amazing and is served piping hot, as it should be. Colours pop off the plate and flavours take you by surprise - in a very good way mind you.
The staff here are passionate about serving quality and it really shows in their food and waitering. Tharavadu has a warm and welcoming feel to it, with the restaurant well kept and clean at all times.
In terms of pricing, given the portion size and freshness, you really cannot complain!
Overall, a brilliant experience. I will definitely be returning for more.
M. H.
The starters are amazing and well presented. Staff are incredibly kind and knowledgeable of the dishes and get the orders in and out quickly. If you come here, you must try the dosas. They are the best around, and massive and tasty, the best I've ever had. I highly recommend coming here. You may need to book in advance as it's very very popular, a rare thing for restaurants these days.
S. S.
Excellent food and service. Love this place!
M. C.
Excellent food and service. It's quite spicy though 😉
S. P. w.
I visited with my family in Leeds found Kerala restaurant near train station the food was really tasty and delicious I would recommend everyone should try at least once you will definitely visit again .service was very good and staff was very friendly and polite. Overall I would say clean and maintained hygiene very efficiently.I will definitely visit again. Thanks for your good service and complimentary chilli paneer which is my kids favourite starter also.
R. L.
Fantastic authentic dining experience. Visited during eat leeds and had 2 course menu. The food was amazing! Lots of flavour, generous portions and the breads were amazing! 100% would recommend and will return.
L. A.
Really good, authentic food. Decent vegetarian and vegan options too.
T. q.
really good service and food. I had the Kerala Kozhi Curry, which had just the right amount of spice and full of flavour.
P. M.
I cannot give enough recommendations for this place! I've been 3 times in the past 2 months and would happily go again!
Put simply the food is incredible, there is a extensive menu and there are options for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The bulk of the menu is fish and seafood based but this is cooked to perfection.
There is a reason this place was reccomended by the Michelin star team, if in Leeds worth seeing and having a taste of genuine Kerlan food!
J. P.
Great meal and we'll priced . Went there by accident actually meant to go next door from reviews but got wrong place. That been said we really enjoyed the food . Tempted to give 3 stars due to atmosphere. I felt bit unrelaxed with staff hovering bit too much and did not feel great with the place as a whole but I can't fault the food . Really good
A. L.
The lunch menu was a good selection. Curry of the day with rice or paratha only £8.25. Would recommend the fish curry though and definitely the pre-meal snacks and nibbles. The portions are very generous for lunch.
Previously been for evening meals and parties. Always left full, smiling and satisfied. Always a lovely atmosphere and good staff too.
w. t.
Visited as s stag party of 15 and advised to have 3 selection between us. Had a share meal of starter and main along with 1 pint and a shot which averaged out at £37 per head, think before you order am sure would have been cheaper to order individual. Excellent service but will not be revisiting as was poor value and there for the party only.
e. c.
Delicious and super tasty cuisine from Kerala . Quick and friendly service.
Would definitely recommend to anyone !
M. C.
Excellent food, unique menu, chaotic staff and experience.
Very little explanation of the dishes and their uniqueness, staff were rushed, dropping items, spilling food. Service and experience would be 2 stars.....but saved by the excellent food. Let's hope they sort themselves out.
K. M.
This place hits us with nostalgia the moment we enter, with Tamil and south indian songs !! It gives major home feel and the food here brings back all the good memories from home.. it is a bit costly but definitely worth it! Those who love south indian food can definitely give it a go.
S.
Being twice at the place. Gr8 and popular restaurant. Food quality and quantity is good. Staff very friendly as well.
Unfortunately, the chappatis were not fresh, tasted and felt like stale left over from previous day. Also were not fully cooked.
J. V.
Ab fab! Wonderful food very different from your average Indian. Charming, helpful and generous service. What's not to like? It certainly gets a top rating from me.
J. B.
Very authentic and well deserved reputation. The fish curry is to die for 👌
A. C.
Expensive, food was different but alright. Need to book a place before going. We hadnot done so, so we were seated in quite a crowded corner-which is why I had to keep wearing my mask all the time. (Ofcourse not during eating :p lol) food was good overall. Mixed seafood platter was good and dosa was good. I ate chefs special chicken curry which I liked.
J. A.
Excellent Keralan restaurant, finally visited for a Birthday meal after hearing glowing reports from friends. It did not disappoint, amazing varied menu, generous portions & the food quite simply delicious. Be sure to visit this jewel in the crown be sure to book in advance to guarantee a table.
K. R.
BEWARE - Everything here is spicy, if you don't tolerate spice well you must ask about each dish and ask whether the chef can make it more mild. None of the dishes on the menu had any indication of spice levels and key ingredients were omitted from some items (E.G. whole black peppercorns in the uzhunnu vada). Very disappointing meal for myself as everything was too spicy for me to eat, even a dish listed as a "creamy sauce with yogurt and coconut".
Other than that the variety was nice, the breads were tasty and the other people at my table seemed to really enjoy their food.
E. S.
Well has/had a reputation for being of a superior dining standard. Was on my to do list for quite a while and I found an early evening slot. They were welcoming, but it all felt tired and conveyor beltish with way over the top multiple staff asking the same questions over and over again.
Are we being hustled to minimise our time for the next booking, sure felt like it. It stopped things being a relaxed friendly expearience after a while.
It's not cheap.
Closer inspection of some of the decor e.g.windows and windowboards were an indication of a lack of care/scruteny happening to the smaller things that built up to a bigger picture.
There was without doubt some very tasty food.
I didn't understand why all my dishes got served with an oiled and finely sliced cabbage and carrot mix. SO NOT NEEDED.
Hard root fiberous clump and over salting in two of the dishes my guest ordered again suggested lack of attention to the smaller things that make a meal go from ok or good to excellent or outstanding.
Maybe its suffering from its own popularity but sorry even on a busy night there are some fundamentals that need to be looked at. What a shame.
K. C.
First time back in a long time. We enjoyed our food as always but we did feel very rushed despite the restaurant being almost empty. At one point the waiter was literally whipping our plates away while we were still eating from them. We were sat upstairs and because it was empty it was very cold. The combination of that & being rushed didnt make us feel very welcome. As a customer you want to feel valued. So probably won't be going back any time soon which is a shame.
N. P.
The best and only Indian restaurant in leeds wow amazing flavours so authentic, staff are so friendly and helpful atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming... I would recommend this place 100% I've been there twice now and not disappointed A+++
A. C.
Birthday treat with family.Menu had a great choice and each dish described from all provinces of India.Great taste as well and the service was excellent. A must if you like your Indian food.
L. M.
Fabulous food and great service. The best Indian meal we have had out for a long time. Can't fault it at all.
A.
What a wonderful, wonderful place.
I took the family out for a treat and ended up deciding on Tharavadu. Everything about this place was exceptional. The way the staff interacted with my 5 year old to the depth of flavour found in each of the dishes.
The crab side order was a particular family highlight, but I have to once again state that all of the food was delicious.
M. P.
Really amazing stuff. I had chili paneer and an eggplant curry both of which were fantastic. Best Indian food I’ve had in the UK.
G. R. S.
Food is absolutely amazing, very tasty. I will definitely go back again but I won't order as much food. Their portions are generous.
R. K.
Kerala food is like festival of spices: chillies, curry leaves, coconut, mustard seeds, turmeric, tamarind, and asafoetida. The Tharavadu restaurant can take you for this wonderful food travel. Family atmosphere, kind and polite staff members which sre also very helpful. Every served dish was tasty, fresh and slightly different to the classic Indian kitchen - much better in my opinion. Cgefs focused on both, present and taste delivered 5* meals. Mango Lassi, seafood mix starter (definitely to share) or Tharadavu Sadya (sort of few currys, sides and bread with soup and dessert) recommended. I enjoyed every single piece of the food and every moment I spent in this lovely restaurant.

Real Kerela cuisine find in Leeds. Went the there Wednesday night and the plane was packed. It was like bring in Tooting having a curry.
Very good value.
H. P.
We are visiting Leeds and went to the restaurant on the 18th if April.
The food was authentic and tasty . Reminded us to our visit to Kerala. Service was excellent and we will again on the 19th.
P.
They don't do butter chicken or chicken tikka ? Strange, thought it was an Indian restaurant, my two favourite dishes as well, so had a lamb dish which wasn't the best, plus the mint sauce dip was like a pot of milk!
N. G.
Hello,
Went to this retsaurant over family lunch as this is famous for Kerala Food and was also recommended by a friend. The Medu Wada is really delicious and scrumptious and a must have starter.
Also, the fish dishes were really great along with laccha paratha - this is really huge paratha and really fill you up.
Also, other snack recommendation would be Paper Masala Dosa.
This resturant is visited by Indian Cricket team whenever they play in Headigley and has a cricket bat signed on it's wall. Not that this is related to the food but again to show that this is popular :-)
Great service, city centred location and quite economic so, a great combo of reasons to recommend this place if you're in Leeds!
G. M.
Excellent service and excellent quality food. You can't go wrong here. Highly recommended give it a go you won't be sorry.😁👍
E. A.
By far the most exquisite cuisine in Yorkshire, I am already looking forward to visiting again and would certainly recommend this restaurant to everyone, blessings and many thanks 🙏🏻
A. W.
The best Indian food I’ve ever had. Absolutely exquisite and very friendly staff as well!
A. B.
Very good. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Indian cuisine and wants to taste authentic recipes
O. W.
Beautiful food, spice mixes were sensational and pretty unique! Really lovely team, so very welcome and kind 😊
K. N.
One of very few places that I would give 5 star for a restaurant. The restaurant looks and feels very cozy and has the unique character. Foods? Actually, I've only tried curry with Dosa but it was so good. Price is around £7 for lunch, which is very reasonable when considering the taste. I really do recommend this restaurant. Love it.
Taste: 5/5
Design: 4/5
Staffs: 5/5
The only thing I concern is the restaurant is a little dark. But that's it. Kind staffs, wonderful foods, cozy interior.... why else you need?
M. M.
Great atmosphere, service, and some very authentic South Indian cuisine with a neo-urban twist. Definitely one of the most authentic high end Indian restaurants in Leeds. On the more expensive side, but worth it.
c. d.
Lovely food and great staff! Been here a couple of times before, no booking but they've always made the effort to accommodate, with this evening as a particular example where the waiter from last night (I'm a restaurant stalker!) making sure I got a table. Can't recommend this establishment highly enough.
C. B.
First time visitor, went for a meal after work with a group of work colleagues. The place was packed with people and we were lucky to get a table.
Menu choices were very good, great selection of fish and seafood, vegetarian and some meat dishes.
This makes it into my top 10 curry restaurants.
Service excellent
Menu excellent
Food fantastic.
Not to be missed, you will not be disappointed
A. W.
Was highly recommended by many friends and colleagues... went for our office Christmas meal for 7 people. Every table was taken and relaid even though it was a mid week night. I can imagine it been heaving on a friday and saturday night.
Plenty to choose from, even if most items I could not pronounce.
We were seated upstairs which would not be suitable for people who needed mobility assistance.
Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Suggestions and advice was not too pushy.
Only negative thing I could say was the upstairs toilet was rather small for a busy restaurant. Seemed to be fitted as an after thought.
Overall a very enjoyable meal, at a reasonable price. Not your average curry house with cheap same-old same-old dishes.
Definitely will be back again soon
A. C.
A nice twist on the traditional Indian. This restaurant serves food from the southern region of India with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Excellent service and beautiful food. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment as this place is always packed.
L. H.
You can understand why they have been in the mitchellen guide for so many years, the food and the service where excellent. Some of the best food I have eatten in ages, flavour sensation and all perfectly balanced, we enjoyed our meal so much that I have been telling everyone I know in Leeds to go!
M. L.
Unusual but excellent food. Good old-fashioned service. Highly recommend.
J. “. S.
Absolutely excellent food with great service. Spicy and tasty. Ask for lighter foods if you've got a weak tongue, because when I say spicy I mean it's not something mildish like red Tabasco. I suggest reserving a table - might not be able to get seated for a while otherwise.
O. K.
Food was OK. Expectations were big based on reviews. Know better Indian restaurants for less money.
D. E.
Had the express lunch vegan. They do meat options, veggie, vegan and gluten free. The food came out quickly and was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed it - loads of flavour but not too spicy, perfect for lunch. Service was very friendly. Definitely coming back here for an evening meal.
B. S.
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Theravadu and we cannot praise it enough. The service was fantastic, the food was the best we've tasted and the manager and staff were so friendly. Best ever!
S. L.
Incredible food, lovely staff. My new favourite restaurant!
a. t.
Service was super efficient; there was a problem with our booking that was swiftly resolved. Food was beautiful and v well presented with just the right break between courses. A must visit if you are in Leeds!
Y. B.
Great restaurant, never disappoints. Great Indian food, both veg and non vegetarian options are fantastic. Staff is very polite, full marks to them.
D. R.
We came here on the strength of the reviews and the fact I like a challenge... Eating more authentically really appealed
It is not recognisable as your normal Indian so don't expect korma etc.... The dishes are from a certain area of India and are cooked as authentically as possible
I had a chicken dish and my other half had lamb, they were both nice but hot, much hotter than I would normally order... There is no indication of strength on the menu so it was a little surprising.
Pappadoms and pickle tray are not the norm, but very nice, no naan bread but asked for an alternative, which was also very nice.
It was busy, a constant flow so that will tell you something, we enjoyed it, being taken out of your comfort zone can be a very good thing
N. D.
Unexpectedly excellent food, from a unique and non-standard (and I think authentic) menu. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a curry in town.
A. D.
Excellent restaurant. Terrific traditional Keralan dishes full of flavour and well presented. Don’t expect any British Indian classics on the menu, do expect a taste experience. Packed on a Tuesday evening - says it all.
K. C. W.
Located in the middle of Leeds city centre, Tharavadu offers authentic Kerala cuisine. Kerala is a state in South India known for its cuisine rich with its wide range of spices, coconut and seafood. You may have to find a paid parking nearby as there is no dedicated parking space. The ambiance is good and staff friendly. The spread is very good but very different from what one would find in many British Indian restaurants. The friendly staff should be able to guide you. Overall it was an enjoyable dining experience!
L. B.
The food was delicious, good service and nice atmosphere. However the menu is relatively small and you won't see many familiar dishes. We just went for a selection of dishes and starters. All of them were of high quality. However the prices are a bit on the high side and portions are smaller than I would expect for the prices.
S. K.
Awesome place and really authentic Keralyan food.
M. B. (. C.
Lunch menu is simple, every taste of curry is so different and it is delicious. Dosa was excellent. I was thrilled. You can get tap water. I should try something from main menu.
V. D.
Authentic south Indian food and equally amazing north Indian dishes. One of the most popular Indian restaurant in Leeds.
A. P.
First attempt at eating 'vegetarian' (apart from prawns...) and without beer, and it was a great success. Tried three starters, inc Paneer (cheese) and a roasted egg curry, and all were lovely. No more need for chicken, beef, or lamb!
N. P.
Fantastic. Authentic South Indian food. All chutneys were quite fresh as well...
W. H.
Outstanding food we absolutely love the place!! Food is authentic and delicious. Highly recommend to everyone you have to try this place.
D. J.
I visited this restaurant last weekend for a works Xmas night out. First of all the food is of exceptional quality, bursting with lots of flavours and meat that just falls apart, I was really impressed by this. My only criticism is that the service was a little rushed. We were seated immediately, orders taken and had the poppadoms brought to our table straight away, again I was initially impressed by this but unfortunately before we could even get close to finishing these appetisers the starters were brought out and they started to take the poppadoms away which we politely asked them to leave them for us to finish. The same thing happened with the mains, one of us was actually still eating the starter when they were putting the mains on the table, the waiter had to actually be notified of this. I personally like to have a short break in between courses but this was not an option here. All in all this is an excellent restaurant and this was just my personal experience on the night, if it wasn't for the rushing then I would have certainly been giving this an easy five stars!
D. J.
Nice food and nice service.
A. J.
The new menu is very limited and increased their prices too. Took down some of the authentic Kerala dishes which were actually really good. Highly disappointed with the menu for that pricing.
J. P.
Excellent experience. Food was delicious and service polite and efficient. The variety of drinks was also a pleasant surprise. A real gem of a find.
P. C.
Delicious food and good service, the fish curry and prawn starter were amazing and not too heavy. Will definitely be back.
R. K.
Delicious food and very vegan friendly menu! can't wait to visit again!
R. W.
Superb. Real taste of proper South Indian food. Staff were excellent - very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.
K. N.
Everything you read is true. The service is impressive. The staff went out of their way to answer everything I asked.
The food is amazing! I got the Sadya/Thali. I will be back whenever I return to Leeds
J. P.
Excellent lunch yime visit, made sure we booked as it gets very busy. Had the lamb express lunch, Excellent value x
D. A.
Top class authentic Keralan food. Attentive Waiters who relly look after you. Having visited Kerrala this is food synonymous to the region and excellently cooked to perfection. Was rather crowded on the night we visited but the staff went out of there way to find us a table. Definitely recommend. 8
L. T.
Extremely yummy. The host is very helpful. The comfort and design is great too. Only positive emotions. Thank you guys.
A. S.
Food was amazing and very authentic good atmosphere would be recommended to anyone looking for fantastic flavour currry
S. C. S.
It was amazing to be at Tharavadu tonight for dinner and it was the best I would say...and it will be a place where I would mark as a must visit place whenever I visit Leeds...it's been a year for me in the UK and it's the best ever restaurant serving the best food served with all the flavours and love all the way from Kerala...from now on I know where I have to head up when I feel missing home...good luck to the team❤️
S. F.
Been there twice- first time was an exceptional experience - the second during a very busy time on a Friday- food wasn’t at the same standard as the first visit- recommend visiting as whiter times !!
R. V.
Tremendously Resourceful. Amazing atmospheric. Ambient lighting throughout interior. Excellent Art on show. Truly recommend for any occasion celebration.
T. K.
I dropped in for lunch and tried the express lamb lunch and a home made lemonade. The food was fantastic and I will definitely be coming back to try the evening menu.
The atmosphere is great and staff are attentive the service is also quick and efficient.
S. S.
Food is very good but the service is very bad. Had to remind them to get out the dishes we ordered one by one.
C. R.
One of the best curry places I've been to. Not a clue what I was eating, but that was the best bit.
A. S.
Excellent food. Felt so good after having authentic South Indian dishes.
N. F.
Loved it wonderful food, service, good vibe and lots of veggie options
P. D.
Good food = good mood
P. W.
Absolutely superb, most varied menu I have ever seen in an Indian. Will be back.
Whole boneless Sea Bass stuffer with prawns etc. Gorgeous.
M. L.
I would thoroughly recommend this, the fish starter was cooked to perfection as was the chicken main. Great service too and a lovely atmosphere. A hidden gem, well worth a visit.
D. L.
Celebrated my birthday yesterday.
And the reason they have the Oliver awards is obvious - great food, great atmosphere, and great staff.
For sure me and my partner will be back again and again!
D. T.
One of the best south Indian restaurants I've been too. The food was so tasty and spiced just right. The service was excellent even though there was a few in. Would definitely go back.

Quite simply the best restaurant in Leeds. Stunning food and somehow got even better after lockdown.
g. Q.
This ranks very highly among all Indian restaurants I've been to - including the ones in India. It's super authentic, excellent service and brilliant value. Would highly recommend. If your in the market for a lunch time Tali this is the THE place to go.
R. F.
Really enjoyable evening. Delicious food with a unique blend of spices. I had the lamb cubes starter and a chicken korma style main. Left full up!
R. A.
"This is one of the best meals I've eaten."
Said my wife, herself a fantastic cook and very fussy eater, after our meal in Tharavadu today.
I shared her sentiments 100%.
Fantastic food. Top quality tasty stuff at very reasonable prices. Nice service. Theravada thoroughly deserves all the awards it has won. Definitely coming back here👌👏👏.
M. S.
This place had a limited menu, as focused on meals from Kerala region but each meal we had, whether fish curry, lamb or chicken were the best in terms of flavour and intensity for a very long time. The breads went well with the dishes. The Indian icecream wasn't to the taste of my husband who ordered it but my coffee calpyso was all I desired and for under £5. My son enjoyed his chocolate icecream. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who really enjoys authentic Indian cuisine rather than euopeanised.
A. A.
The environment is very nice, the food is tasty, and the staff are professional. I would recommend give them a visit
B. B.
Great food, great service, what more could you ask.
D. J.
Absolutely delicious food. Excellent service. These guys really know what they are doing!
R. B.
So tasty! Really good covid adherence and full of all sorts of people. No negative feedback at all
N. F.
Genuinely one of the best meals I've had in years, regardless of cuisine. An absolute treat from start to finish. Shame I live so far away otherwise I'd be here on a regular basis. I have one happy belly right now.
j. w.
Staff excellent. Couple of the meals tasted very alike. But on the whole, very good.
R. M.
First time at the restaurant. Have to say it’s the best Indian food I’ve had. So much flavour and variety. They even will make the food milder if you require (needed that for my kids). Will definitely be visiting again when I’m up in Leeds.
W.
Great food, prices are good and value for money. One negative toilet soaks you when flushed be warned.
M. C.
Nice food, nice ambience, culturally inclined, good place for family and kids, polite staff, near Leeds railway station.
V. D.
Awesome food. Best Indian restaurant in UK. Must try for every one who loves Indian food. This is not the regular Indian cuisine which everyone is used to (North Indian). This is a different cuisine from South India which is so authentic and crazy yummy. Excellent service as well. Very busy so book in advance. We were lucky to get a table by walking in, but had to finish fast as they were all booked. Will definitely visit again
g. a.
Indian food with a big difference an absolute must if you like Indian fish dishes but you won't feel short changed if you like your meat. Can't comment on vegetarian options but if they are cooked to the same standard you needn't worry. Only people who can't try something new will be disappointed.
c. c.
Great food. One staff member was really rude and unpleasant towards our group, though. Would think twice about going back.
J. D.
Nice and good food for South Indians
J. J.
Amazing food and great service. They were so accommodating when we realised we've booked for the wrong date. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Leeds!
S. B.
Great food, atmosphere and lovely staff
S.
Lovely restaurant near city centre and railway station. Excellent food and great service. Highly recommended!
R. “. R.
The best Kerala Indian Cuisine restaurant in Leeds. Very cosy, nicely decorated and friendly workers. We enjoyed the food here. 👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
j. p.
Nice ambiance. Good taste. Thali option is also available for lunch and dinner.
J. P.
Excellent food and really nice, inviting staff. Initially booked assuming they served bog-standard takeaway Indian style food but the menu immediately corrected that notion. Very interesting dishes and good sizes. Would happily recommend.
B. W.
Great food, and different from the standard Indian menu. Very friendly staff as well
G. L.
Excellent food and service, huge quality portions and I would advise booking as it gets busy.
M. D.
Amazing food. Great choice on the menu. Very busy restaurant and still had great service. Absolutely top place and worth checking out
P. T. K.
Today I visited this place with my family . This place was beyond my expectations. The food was delectable ,feels like I am in Kerala. We all love the starters and main course. Parotta and chicken curry ,wow very delicious. We will visit this place again. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hats off Siby.
G.
Very nice staff, easy to book. Delicious South Indian dishes, nicely cooked, served hot. Not expensive. Clean toilets. Indian beer served. Near to train station.
Only improvement, serviettes to wipe hands would be useful & save having to walk to toilets.
All in all, we will definitely go again.
M. B.
Delicious Indian curries. Not the usual Indian menu which is what makes it more special. Seafood options are great and they cater for vegetarian and vegan.
R. B.
Great for something a bit different curry wise, definitely recommend the dhosa
J. j.
Nice place to enjoy south Indian dishes
R. R. (.
Authentic Kerala food. Wonderful food, excellent service , quality ingredients, the curry is delicately prepared. Masala Dosa is crispy and light. I had the chicken platter for the main course and was not disappointed. I did try idlis vadas, again it was so tasty. The chutney isn’t authentic probably because they use desiccated coconut, try using fresh or frozen coconut. The coolers are amazing too.
P. G.
We are passionate about Indian cuisine. Both my wife and I can honestly say that Tharavadu in Leeds is undoubtedly the very best Indian restaurant we have ever eaten in. Trust me, we have tried hundreds of restaurants across the globe and we are gobsmacked that this gem is on our doorstep!!
D. W.
Lovely food, and all Vegan, gluten free available too. some things were a touch on the spicy side if you don't like spice
A. M.
Normal excellent service and lovely food for a Sunday breakfast
B. R.
The perfect curry and cold beer. I had the Meet Koottan, beautifully cooked, delicious. Service was good considering it was very busy. Well done
J. M. W.
Went for lunch. Great quick lunch offering. Delightful curries and accompaniments. Really need to ho back for an evening meal to experience the full range of dishes.
M. D.
Was in Leeds and saw the reviews on this place, best curry ever! You won't be disappointed, staff very attentive, food brilliant and reasonably priced!
L. P.
Excellent food, good quality and value. Friendly and efficient staff
R. O.
The best curry we have ever had!
Amazing value for money and the Paratha was out of this world
D. E.
The take-away service was wonderful. They were very accommodating of my tight schedule. The paneer was outstanding-- I've never had such a creamy, fresh tasting version of this before. Everything else was tasty too. My one year old ate up almost the entire plate of Idli!
S. W.
I've been several times and have never been disappointed: everything I've tried is delicious! Also exciting to see dishes I've never heard of. One small niggle is the menu could be more descriptive, to have a better idea of what I've ordered
m. c.
Fantastic food. Been going for over a decade. Not a (typical curry place).
Keralan food, southern India.
Mix of sea food, lamb and chicken.
Dosa's are fantastic along with the paratha.
Menu is not what you expect to see if you go to run of the mill curry restaurants.
Can be a bit confusing, stick with it and you'll come to love it.
Friend of ours said they have had fish curry from other places.
None as good as tharavado. Various fish choices as well.
Not for me though.
Kidilan kozhi starter is a chicken dish.
So full of spice, leaves such a delightful after taste.
S. J.
Indian to die for. If you want an authentic Indian experience this is the place to go.
C. M.
Lovely Indian restaurant specialising in the food of southern part of the country. Lots of fish and vegetarian option. I would say pricing a little high, service was excellent as was the food. Well worth a visit.
M. “. C.
Excellent, I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. The waiter was very knowledgeable in helping us to decide what to eat. The food was exceptional, very well presented and tasted great.
Two of us didn't hold back when it came to ordering food and drink and the bill came to £66. Money well spent.
They've got great Covid-19 protection between the tables also.
e. m.
Went here by accident when drunk once and i've been thinking about it every day since (it's been about 2 years).
j. t.
My first visit here with my family was excellent. Food was very delicious n staffs were too friendly. Hygiene of the restaurant was awesome.. best wishes.. n thanks for Ur service..
C. Y.
best service I have ever met. curry is delicious and various breads are made immediately to order
C. M.
Lovely food, really nice staff and speedy service!
A. O.
Every dish, every curry for our party and even mango lassi were superb, worth every penny. Served with heartfelt attitude, we felt really welcomed - I wish it could be our home town restaurant.
J. J.
Good place for South Indian, specially Kerala food.
J. G.
Was an absolutely beautiful meal, the menu was pretty much all gluten free meaning we were spoilt for choice, we didn't have a table booked but seated us no problem we'll back very soon 😀
E. O.
Brill lunch menu with quick service. Evening meal was a lot more chilled out, lots of staff checked in on us, very tastey food!
S. :.
Loved dining here! Was absolutely delicious, lovely staff and they know how to set a good atmosphere
D. A.
This restaurant offers something different from the norm. Yes they sell curry, but it's not the usual pages of tikka masala etc on the menu. This isn't a criticism in any way - though the menu is a lot simpler, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and help you get food you will enjoy. I had the Wayanadan Kozhi with paratha, and it was delicious. Service was amazing too.
A. M.
One word...'Awesome'....you will not be disappointed I promise.!!
The South Indian cuisine is truly amazing...much much better the North Indian food which is often served in Leeds.
Yesterday I ordered the kidilan kozhi, paratha and malabar kozhi biriyani using the 'just eat' app yesterday and was ready for collection in 30 mins.
This was my first time and I was blown away by the exceptional quality and taste of the food. Well done Tharuvadu. I will be back for sure..
M. R.
Watching the food coming out of the kitchen was mouth watering and wish we were in Leeds longer to visit again. They had some lovely and unusual things on the menu and we weren't the only table asking what certain things were arriving at other tables. Wish we had a similar quality of restaurant in our area - we'd be there every week! The service was excellent and very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and a good range of drinks, very nicely decorated and the cute little shopping trolley the bill arrived in was super cute!
P. Y.
The quality of the food here was phenomenal. This is not your curry after 10 pints put with your mates, its a quality restaurant with prices to match, so come with a mind to spend.
N. A.
Lovely food. Great atmosphere and staff.
R. M.
Great ambience, very good service and excellent food.
N. P.
Good food ,Good Drinks
C. C.
Lovely restaurant. They squeezed us in about 9.30 for last orders and the food was excellent. I had a recommended fish curry with rice - delicate fish, perfect spicing and generous portion. Service fast and pleasant - helpfully, they remembered what we were each having rather than relying on us remembering the Keralan names! I'd definitely visit again.
M. W.
A truly outstanding meal, sensationally flavourful.
K. B.
Absolutely gorgeous food. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
M. C.
In a country packed with generic "Indian" restaurants all selling the same western style dishes it's incredibly refreshing to experience a regional gem like this.
I'm not from Kerala, I've never been to Kerala, but I trust these guys that what it says on the menu about each dish is true and this is an authentic experience.
Everything tastes fantastic and there are some really unexpected flavours that add to the dishes complexity.
Presentation is a little "fancy for the sake of it" at times and portion sizes feel a little small (I'm looking at you chilli paneer!) but you leave feeling satisfied.
Service is top notch, the surroundings clean and the menu choices good, it's no surprise Theravada constantly ranks where it does.
The addition on tiny branded shopping trolleys to deliver the bill feels a bit cheap but it's novel I guess.
Theravada is where I always recommend to anyone looking for a "good Indian" and nobody has been disappointed yet.
D. N.
Wow best curry I have had for a while. Great lunchtime spot. Such fresh ingredients and variety amazing flavours and light and fresh. Def worth a visit the lunchtime special of 3 Curry's a bread and some rice was just the perfect amount of food.
M. N.
Amazing food and service. I took my family here on a Saturday evening after quite a few visits over the last year or so, and although the restaurant was very busy, there was no delay in taking our drinks orders and then the food orders promptly. The staff here strike the perfect balance of being attentive and there if you need anything, but also don't hassle you. The food itself is consistently lovely, and there is a decent range of dishes on the menu. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Leeds
B. R.
A very basic and very over-lit restaurant but the exquisite food far outweighs the lack of interior style. We dined upstairs and the staff, the service and the food were all outstanding. The vegetarian options for me were numerous which was good. One point, not a negative one, rather just a personal thought...there was some great authentic Indian music playing in the bathrooms but nothing in the restaurant areas which I felt could have added to the dining experience but other than that I couldn’t fault it. Amazing! Looking forward to going back for a re-run!
M. L.
Very authentic food, good service and resonsbly priced. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!
S. P.
Amazing food, really good service and my first experience of Kerali cuisine. I had sea bream and it was beautiful x
J. W.
Been meaning to go for a long time and what better occasion than the end of lockdown and my birthday! Delicious curry and some great recommendations from the server. Masala dosa nearly as wide as the table!
D. L.
Very nice place, food was great & the portions were big, so big i only managed to eat half but i really didn't want to waste the rest so asked to pack it up so I could take home which is a testament in itself as to how good the food was. Would definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed. 👍🏻👍🏻
L. Y.
Very good, as one would expect. But for me, it doesn't quite hit value-for-money (quality per pound), even though the quality is higher than other Indians. However, it is somewhat more upmarket, and you can sense that from the service and presentation. Good to go for special occasions.
A. K.
I had a fantastically authentic meal in this delightful restaurant! They were well prepared to adhere to the social distancing rules and the wait staff were phenomenal! Will definitely go again and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try some delicious, authentic South indian food!
D. W.
Very distinctive curries, a bit different to anything I have had before - very enjoyable evening!
C. A.
We love going out. Yesterday we came to this delicious place which friends told us about. We enjoyed a lovely evening there with very good dishes and a well-trained team and a distinguished chef. We put this venue in our phone list and we shall certainly come back very soon. We deeply recommend.
K. L.
Real nice food. I really like how the menu is laid out and it includes a great detailed description about the dish, it's components, traditional ways of cooking and some have a history behind the dish. Place is a nice earthy decor, reasonable selection of drinks. We were easily able to identify vegan and vegetarian dishes too. The staff, I couldn't have asked for anything more. So attentive, helpful and friendly even when it was incredibly busy with a loud group on a Friday night. I would definitely recommend this place.
R. D.
The restaurant was clearly closing doors to new customers at 10pm on a Friday night, which seems very early. But the waiter asked what meats we liked etc and then produced 4 delicious meals (including one vegan) tailored to those choices. Felt slightly hurried though. Quality was fantastic.
C. C.
Had the vegetarian express lunch, very tasty. Restaurant was very clean. Staff were very polite and friendly.
G. W.
This is an Indian restaurant giving you very different food from your usual Indian restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, but it is a bit more expensive than you usual Indian meal.
A. K.
Great Indian food. Tried the Traditional Paper masala Dosa. Was great and filling.
S. S.
Great Indian food, low prices and very tasty dishes
m. c.
Without exception this is the most delicate, delicious and most perfectly cooked seafood I have ever eaten. I would be surprised if I didn't give it an equally glowing review the last time I visited (6 months ago) and it's a measure of the quality of both food and service that I have tried to revisit many times since, only to find that the place was fully booked. Plan ahead! The fish cooked in banana leaves (the cheapest fish main course) remains my favourite but the toddy shop special, served with cassava is in no way a step down from those Olympic heights. If nature had blessed you with a mouth, you should give it a break and eat here.
S. K.
Had the express lunch. Excellent value
s. n.
Worth the price. Delicious food and good service
A. R.
Nice to visit somewhere different for a change but although the food was nice I wouldn't say it was good value for money.
r. s.
Was craving Indian food...away from home...boy!! Was I glad I discovered this place!
Excellent, authentic Kerala cuisine... Very attentive and helpful staff who were on their toes all the time. Went in with no reservations but they accommodated us. Felt it was a bit pricey though. A must visit place...you won't regret it.
J. W.
Tharavadu is a lovely restaurant, it has vegan and gluten free options, a mixture of milder and spicy dishes and the service is friendly. The overall cost of both the meal and the wine is very reasonable. I would advise booking though as it can often be very busy due to the quality of the food. I particularly like their special take on poppadoms and pickles, which on it's own sets them aside from other Indian restaurants. Highly recommended for a casual meal, date or group meal. Conveniently located near the train station and a couple of excellent pubs too.
R. P.
Simply the best Indian I've ever been.
Everything I've ordered was very good and above the average. But the fish curries are excellent, you must try it.
Customer service is good, staff is always nice.
The price is a little bit higher than average curry.
A. M.
Great food and awesome selection of Alcohol Free Beers
B. D.
Excellent restaurant. Great selection on the menu, and this was available to view online. The quality of the food was first class. I had the Wayanadan Kozhi curry, which I would recommend. We were quite a large party and the service was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere. Very conveniently placed near the train station. Reasonable restaurant level prices. Certainly hope to go again.
G. A.
Never been to Leeds before, and found Tharavadu completely by chance. And very lucky chance. The food was amazing, and the service friendly, quick and seemingly effortless. The staff clearly take great pride in the restaurant and the food. If you're in Leeds, go there, and you won't be disappointed. Sadly, we aren't local
H. R.
I honestly thought I had a pretty good grasp of Indian food before I ate at Tharavadu. Turns out I was totally ignorant to the existence of Keralan cuisine. Tharavadu is an absolutely sensational restaurant, I was blown away by every flavour, texture and aroma. The staff fantastic hosts and make every effort to ensure you have a lovely dining experience. I can’t wait to go back!
A. D.
First time I'd visited the restaurant, off the back of a recommendation of a colleague. I'm a big curry fan, but I'm not familiar with Kerali dishes. However I soon found that everything on the menu looked delicious. Since there were a number of us eating it was a good opportunity to try out different things, and they were great. Relaxed place and friendly staff too.
P. B.
Awesome place to go for South Indian food. Taste of the dishes are great. The staff is also very good. I even loved the choice of songs in the restaurant. Just loved the experience overall..... Even 5 stars are less for this restaurant
G. K.
Some Dishes are extremely good. Some dish we don't like much. Good service. Good location. Finding parking place is bit difficult near to the restaurant. Price is not bad. Reservation before 3 weeks is bit annoying, otherwise some one have to cancel it when you pop in. Starters my child liked it.
R. S.
Great real taste food and service! Staff is very accommodating. Definitely recommend to visit Tharavadu restaurant when you visit Leeds.
P. K.
Awesome food, good service and reasonable price makes it a good restaurant to enjoy Indian food
P. D.
Delightful Indian restaurant with a more interesting menu than the typical. Amazingly friendly staff and solidly cooked food. On the pricey side but worth it due to quality. Covid protocols were being followed scrupulously.
P.
Absolutely excellent food with great service. Spicy and tasty. Ask for lighter foods if you've got a weak tongue, because when I say spicy I mean it's not something mildish like red Tabasco. I suggest reserving a table - might not be able to get seated for a while otherwise.
R. A. S.
Hands down, the best Indian food in Leeds. The staffs are really great, nice owners, and the amount of effort for the details is astonishing. All of the silverware are nicely polished, giving you a sense of comfort and high standard on hygiene. They will do their best to deliver you a great dining experience with the authentic taste of southern Indian food. They also offer a wide selection of alcohol to goes along with your food.
Food - 10/10
Drinks - 9/10
Services - 10/10
Price - 8/10
Hygiene - 10/10
J. E.
Amazing meal, exquisite cuisine, reasonable prices for the standard
C. T.
Visited Tharavadu for our dinner...iam really glad to tell that as always food was amazing...specially kappa and mean curry...Yummy...Definitely I will suggest this to everyone who loves South Indian taste and who all are interested for a new taste...Along with this I would like to mention their customer service which was really excellent and appreciatable..
Thank you all for this wonderful evening...
G. N.
Authentic kerala food.. nice place to dine
I. P.
Wow, the food here is exceptionally good. Great portions of super tasty amazingness.
When I saw the menu I was a little unsure as couldn't really tell what anything was, definitely not your usual curry options but we went as a party of 17 and went through many options unknown what the outcome would be, every dish was spot on lots of flavours and cooked to perfection. The staff were super friendly and helpful nothing was too much for them.
At the time they were in the middle of expanding, so a little bit of building work was around but this didn't spoil the experience of this wonderful restaurant one bit. I will most certainly be visiting again.
C. P.
Great food, service and value for money
C. G.
Amazing Indian food, staff are friendly and very helpful. Reasonable prices for the centre of Leeds.
a. r.
Love the place , food and friendly staff
K.
Very good food, every seat at every table was filled and the food and service were still excellent. We had a pint of Kingfisher and cobra both were good. We didn't bother trying any deserts as we were full from the starter and main course, so I can only say they looked good. The bill was quite reasonable, and we are going back soon!
M. H.
A wonderful mixture of delicious food and fantastic service. This was, quite genuinely, one of the most delicious Indian meals I've ever had. I'll certainly be recommending this restaurant very highly to others.
J. R. V.
A real South Indian -Kerala palate which is delicious too. A bit of north Indian dishes have seeped in. Over all its a great experience
P. O.
My only regret is that after the starter and the excellent black pepper chicken curry, I had no room for dessert! The Peacock mango and lime cider was phenomenal. The staff were kind and helpful. A great place to eat.
N. R.
Went in and booked table. Wife has allergies so talked with manager when booking table. Went there in the evening and had the best tasting and presented food I have had in a very long time. Well worth booking and visiting. Staff very attentive and food excellent.
L. J.
Amazing food. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable.
Downside is the accoustics dont go for an intimate first date go for a big family beano.
S. R.
Ok quality South Indian foods. High expectations based on comments but not satisfied with the South Indian dishes.
M.
Food is exceptional and service is great. Can't recommend highly enough. Check the menu before you go though as you're not going to find a lamb bhuna here
N. M.
Totally loved the paneer sabzi and naan. Best Indian flavours in Leeds! Absolutely amazing and delicious food
B. A. B.
Very quality food with a good experience. Excellent customer service. One of the best south indian places around.
D. S.
Amazing restaurant. I visited with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had Uzhunnu Vada (lentil doughnuts) and Kildilan Erachi (spiced lamb cubes) to start and both were great, especially the lamb. I had the byriyani for a main which was incredibly aromatic. The chicken was slightly dry (and there was loads of it!), but the dish was so good overall that this is still a 5/5 review. My wife had Meen Koottan (one of the fish curries) with a paratha (which according to her was amazing) and that was really nice too (if a little spicier than expected!). We also had a side of Parippu Ela Curry (garlicy spinach dal) which was one of the best dals I've ever had, my wife (who usually doesn't like a dal) even enjoyed it! The staff were very friendly and attentive. As an added bonus the menus make it clear which foods contain gluten and they even had Virtuous (a gluten free beer) on tap so this made my life a lot easier as someone who can't eat gluten. Overall a solid 5/5 and we'll definitely be going back!
M. M.
Great curry here. This is Kerala quinine very different from the usual Bangladesh menu. Booking is advisable it's packed all the time and for good reason. Chef's special chicken was fantastic. Service impeccable.
n. m.
Taste was good but bit costly. Good service. Overall good
C. G.
Absolutely fantastic food! I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants and this is by far the best. Really great value too, loads of tasty options for vegans x
S.
Really delicious food and cheap! I was shocked at how little our food came to. Just didn't like the waiters hovering around us and constantly looking at us other than that its really nice.
L. D.
Well nice. Food was great and staff were lovely. I would definitely recommend the mutta roast for all you egg lovers out there! 10/10 dining experience.
b. k.
Good taste for UK locals and less spicy lovers
T. E.
Had a stunning fish curry here. Showed up with no reservation and it was packed but the staff were friendly and accommodating - after a short wait we were seated. Excellent food - would definitely go again.
R. s.
Nice food and friendly service.
The restaurant has adapted a Chinese take away approach, load everything with sugar and develop a menu for the ignorant British public. The food is nothing like any food in India. It seems to work the place was packed but if you like good authentic, healthy Indian food then it's not the place.
M. M.
Friendly atmosphere and top quality food. This is a warm and welcoming Kerala Indian restaurant with an excellent range of fish dishes. Brilliant food with subtle and authentic spices served with great care. Staff are extremely helpful and efficient and caring. Special place that stands out from the region's already good curry restaurants. Highly recommend and it's popularity means booking days ahead even if earlier in the week.
C. B.
1st visit on Thursday 9th. An excellent Starter and Main for less than £20
C. A.
First visit but not my last. Fantastic express lunch. Tasty food, well presented
S. G.
Great atmosphere, the best curry I've ever had!!!
J. C.
Lovely staff and nice venue. The food is really nice. But very different yo main stream Indian
R. P.
Fantastic lunch. You get 3 mini curries, made with either chicken lamb or veg, a Roti and 2 dips. Vegetarian option came with Bombay potatoes. So tasty. Very busy at lunchtime. Don't know what it would be like at night. Very cheap lunch menu £6.95!
D. M.
To say this place is good misses the point. Seven of us dined here, all of us had different dishes, all of us enjoyed the food so much. Gets busy (even on a Wednesday), and the food justifies this. Service is good, but obviously when busy can take a while to be served. Recommended to book.
C. M.
I've been once before and everything was incredible. We were with someone who was not good with spice and they really really went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable
This time everything was better. There was three of us, we split a nice dry white. Split our starters between three. We had the king prawns, the fried squid, and the paneer. They all tasted beautiful but the sauce with the king prawns was beyond. I had the spinach curry for main and it was the nicest I've ever had. I had the crab side which I couldn't ignore.
I can't compioment the service enough. I only wish I took photos to add to this. I'll be going to this restaurant more on the future.
R. F.
To be clear: The food was top notch. We ordered a variety of dishes , more food than we could eat and it was very well prepared. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. We could not have asked for a better experience.
G. K.
Never had Keralan food before and now wish I was local because it was absolutely fantastic. We popped in really early on a Tuesday evening and got the last table for two they had .. another couple came in behind us also without a booking and had to be told No!! Absolutely visit here - but definitely make sure you book in advance!
s. b.
The restaurant has recently been refurbished and it's looking a lot better than before. Service was informal and personal which was a nice touch. So many dishes to choose from on the menu and it's tough as they all sound appealing. The food we ordered was well seasoned and delicate. A Good depth of spice without being overpowering. Certainly a little more refined than your average curry. The lentil soup was a standout dish, zingy and spicy. The chicken in the Dosa was juicy and exceptionally moorish. I can't recommend this place highly enough. A must visit if you're in Leeds
H. M.
Lovely food recipes cooked to perfection
T. M.
Lovely south Indian food. It has a good lunch option. Friendly staffs. Egg Roast with appam here was really good. Don't know why they removed egg items from their menu. would recommend for non-vegetarians; sorry vegetarians, you don't have much options.
L. C.
Fantastic traditional Indian food, but definitely not your run of the mill curry house so don't expect to be ordering a vindaloo. The service, quality and taste of food is excellent. Make sure you book as it's always busy which isn't a surprise given how good it is
V. D.
Just amazing food. Good atmosphere. Efficient friendly service.
J. E.
Strong recommendation! Very different from the traditional Indian places. Nicely themed around the south Indian island of Kerala, it was very refreshing to all new dishes to explore. Were a group of 5 and everyone agreed to the surprising uniqueness and good quality

If you want different, get your table booked here. Fantastic food and staff couldn't do enough for you. Had a team night out here so 15 in total and which was no challenge to them . All tables taken when we arrived 7.45pm but at it closes at 10pm most diners are there early evening. Can't blame them neither.
A. K.
This is BY FAR the best Indian food I have ever had in my life. We were lucky to get in somehow without a reservation. Apparently some people book this place months in advance. Very reasonable prices too! Great service.
L. B.
Oh my goodness, this place is incredible. I raised an eyebrow seeing mains priced at £15+ but you know what? That Keen Koottan fish curry was worth every damn penny. The Kidlan Erachi lamb starter was amazing. All with the best post-covid service we've had so far. This place deserves more attention.
T. A.
Lovely food and atmosphere. It can be loud, depending on how busy it is and the service can be slow (spent 3hrs here with a party of 4). However, the staff are friendly and food is great. Good variety of vegetarian options too.
P. G.
Great Meal Quick Service too considering we were a large group - Reccomend giving this a try.
K. D.
Great place, staff very helpful, and very nice food too
Z. A.
Overall a good experience, the starters were unique and the mains were good, although the deserts were poor. I ordered a beef dish which was very good, my companions ordered Chicken & Duck they both liked. Mrs being a vegetarian ordered the Thali which was OK . The portions were large and filling. With drinks it works out circa £30 per head which is not bad. The place is small and busy, which means its very noisy and there was a steady stream if customers coming in and out which meant a bit of a distraction. We were there in total for about 2 hours & 10 mins. Staff were friendly and jovial.
J. M.
Went for a friend's birthday and it was amazing. The service was excellent, the best I've ever seen. The serving staff were attentive and joined in on jokes with other customers. They knew who had ordered meals without even asking them. The food was absolutely amazing, and we'll worth the price
a. s.
Lovely food, quite different selection from your standard curry place. Staff really friendly and helpful in helping us select what dishes to order. Lost one star purely because the service was a little slow, but we had a lovely evening there.
I. J.
This is a wonderful restaurant with a fine selection of authentic dishes and attentive staff well worth a visit
J. W.
Great authentic indian food 👍
Kingfisher on tap 🍻
P. B.
Great meal, chefs special.
M. J.
Loved the food, loved the service! The staff recognised us from our last visit offer a year and half ago and greeted us warmly. Strongly recommend if you like authentic Indian food
C. B. (.
Stopped in for a small lunch, ended up having a full meal. Great tasting food from the rice to the curry to the sides. Staff are very friendly and always on hand to help if you need anything. Would definitely recommend and I will certainly be coming back again.
B.
Lovely curry, nice Beers and great service. Reasonable prices especially considering how central it is being right next to the station
M. E.
I just left Tharavadu and am feeling wonderfully happy about the service there. I am very intolerant to hot spicy dishes (I like things flavourful - spiced - but not hot - spicy). I told the waiter this, and he went out of his way for me. Even negotiating with the chef to figure out the best 'custom' meal for me. I wish I remembered his name. Not only did the food end up being delicious, and finally not too hot, the kindness and care that waiter showed me made my night. Thank you! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!
F. T.
We were greeted by Siby one of the partners who is a charismatic gentleman who made our visit worthwhile. We asked about the name and learned that Tharavadu' means family which keeps the values of tradition. We did our homework and Tharavadu is and award winning restaurant with Stirling reviews. That week we had visited another 3 of the top rated Indian restaurants so we had a good basis of comparison. The decor is chilled and not overbearing. The service is amazing. We were asked by 3 individual members of staff if everything was to our liking. Sometimes this can be annoying but the staff were warm and efficient. The starters were impeccable. The mains were a knockout. Its hard to describe really. The food is very fresh and light. The balance of flavour was perfect. We learned that the restaurants is owned by 5 partners and some of them were in the kitchen. So they absolutely live up to their name “Tharavadu”. We are now lifelong patrons of this talented family.
L. C.
Amazing!!! Food, service, everything, couldn't have been better.
But... If you don't like your food too spicy then you must ask for less spice and they will cook your food to your liking.
R. J.
Always great. Very good lunch menu with reasonable prices. And it's different from any curry place I've been to in Leeds. The focus on Kerala cuisine really works. Very tasty indeed.
J. P.
Outstanding, Paratha bread light, buttery and layered. Lamb curry delicately spiced. Pricing totally reasonable for food this good. Service quick and friendly, tables well spaced.
T. G.
Good for a quick lunch, the main menu is quite expensive for what you get but the lunch deals are worthwhile. The thalis are a typical size but the curries you get in them are very generic and have a home made feel to them rather than a restaurant feel. The staff are friendly.
K. L.
If you enjoy Kerala cooking this is the place to come. Excellent menue covering plenty of choice, knowledgable service and easy going atmosphere. Totally different to your 'standard' Indian restaurant. A great way to spend an evening.
D. C.
We were visiting Leeds on a tour and searching for a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. All eateries close by were crowded (Sat night) and pricey, so we walked out and found Tharavadu. We thought we would give it a try and it surprised us with the flavors and price. The food was perhaps the best we had on our trip, with exquisite sauces and full flavored
k. d.
The best Indian restaurant in Leeds. Will come back again..and again... I definitely recommend
S. S.
Quite simply the best curry I’ve ever had in my entire life. And I’ve had a LOT of curries in my life.
M. D.
My fiancé and I have been coming here for over 2 years now and we refuse to go anywhere else for Indian cuisine! I've always said you've never really tried traditional authentic Southern Indian food until you've been here, no where else compares. There's always more than enough staff to help, the food is served promptly even at the busiest of times (they get absurdly busy!!) and the consistency of food quality and taste is unlike anything I've tried from anywhere else, especially independents. If you live in West Yorkshire or are just visiting and want a try taste of India Tharavadu is a must. To top it all off the pricing is great especially with the portion sizes. On our most recent we had a starter each, 2 chicken curries, masala potatoes, rice, 2 servings of Poori, dessert and a bottle of Malbec, is was only £75! We'll be coming back time and time again.
R. S.
Delicious cuisine that is very different to what is normally offered. Very good quality food and friendly service. Also, a good ranger of drinks. Price-wise not unreasonable. Expect around £30 per head for food and drinks.
R. W.
Unlike any other Indian. The menu contains a list of unknown dishes so you have to randomly select. However, the food is excellent and am yet to find a bad dish. Highly recommend the paratha bread.
H. N.
Everyone raves about it and it is fresh curry. However I've had better elsewhere. I also tend to find something they cook with disagrees with me. Not with anyone I dine with tho!
If you are a good curry cook you won't find anything exceptional. If you're not, you'll think it's amazing.
Z. C.
Excellent restaurant! It was a very busy Saturday night, and we had not booked, yet they still managed to find us a table for two (although I would recommend that you book in advance). The staff were very helpful, and the vegetarian dishes were excellent. Highly recommended!
s. g.
Good place for Indian food....
J. W.
Bit shabby but very attentive staff and very tasty food. Not expensive but not the cheapest either, main dishes are on average £12-16 and that's without sides (rice, paratha, etc). They do seem quite keen to get your order and get you served but I guess that's because it is so popular.
J. B.
My friend gave me the option of what he called near Michelin star vs a standard Indian restaurant. I'm glad we chose Tharavadu, as the food was outstanding. I have only ever eaten fish curry and paratha as good once before and that was in Chennai... The staff were also very helpful and I would love to return as the menu was varied and enticing.
S. N. L.
The best indian food outside India! The Dosa melted in your mouth and the fish was amazing. All 18 of us really enjoyed all the dishes. Great place to celebrate, to socialise and relax.
H.
Best Indian I've ever come across, food is South Indian/Sri Lankan, spiced to your taste and there are a lot of fish and vegetarian options too. I took 5 people from India here and they said it was the most authentic Indian restaurant they've been to outside of India. Can't recommend it highly enough, booking is essential though.
b. c. s.
Really good food. Authentic. Large portions. Great ambience. Very good service.
S. K.
It was a lovely South Indian Kerala restaurant with tradition Kerala deco. I am an south Indian from Chennai and I was spoilt for choices. Had prawn curry and parotta and king fish curry and steamed fish wrapped in banana. Food was authentic tasted a class. Thanks to the chef. Will definitely recommend. I am not a local but I will surely visit with my family next time.
n.
Delicious food, great portion sizes, friendly and efficient service. Great value for money. Good veggie and GF choices :)
S. W.
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
J. p.
Best among all the other South Indian restaurants in Leeds city. Very consistent in maintaining the authentic taste just like how we would get in India. Cheers to the crew behind this restaurant..
C. S.
What a change to the usual curry house's. Total different menu to the standard fair. Went as a small Birthday gathering so did not what to expect. Great food and service will definitely go again.
I. L.
Really good food, not so good service. We felt very rushed when we arrived and when ordering, our poppadoms and starters both arrived before we'd even got our drinks. Then after we got our mains the waiters didn't even look at us, we had to get their attention to clear our plates when wed been done with our mains for 20 minutes, then it took another 40 to get the bill
J. F.
Excellent South Indian cuisine. Very different from the usual curry house. The starters are unusual and delightful. The fish main courses are especially good - try the fish curry served in a banana leaf. If you want onion bhajees and chicken rogan josh go somewhere else. Come here for fresh and exciting food.
K. V.
Amazing food from the state of Kerela. Good ambiance and nice vibes, enjoyed the time with family and friends.
C. B.
Very nice food quite pricey , but very different
C. P.
This restaurant is within walking distance of Leeds Railway station. The exterior of the restaurant is fairly modest but inside the dining area is pleasant and the staff friendly and attentive. What is special about this restaurant is the menu which has many dishes that I have not come across in any other restaurant. My wife and daughter really enjoyed the Uzhunnu Vada as a starter followed by the Kerala Khozi Curry. I ordered the Thali which also included soup and an ice cream. Our bill for the three of us including drinks was £68.
c. c.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Excellent
S. D.
Absolutely beautiful well worth a visit x
R. F.
What an amazing place! The pickle tray starter I've never had anything like, I can't even remember what they were all fantastic,Il feature a picture of the menu chosen, not had mango chutney like it,or lime pickle, both so nice,we ordered for mains some chapathi, some other bread, rice,a lamb dish an the fish speciality, Il put highlighted screenshots of the dish from the menu,to be honest the fish was disappointing, it was clean an fresh fish bit basically was in like tomato soup..the lamb however absolutely amazing, lovely instant taste an melt in the mouth, warm spicey after,so good! Had nice red wines too, organic malbec was better than the Chianti. All in all top service an food as good as I've read an been told about..defiantly a must go to!
A. R.
Food was amazing and really friendly service. A nice change from a normal Indian restaurant and we all loved trying new dishes
A. S.
I am allergic to shell fish.....as soon as the waiter knew about this they were fantastic. They cooked my food apart and especially for me it was tasteful and wonderful would definitely recommend this to anyone food is fantastic service is excellent and prices are reasonable...don't listen to me try it for yourself you will not be disappointed promise
U. S.
Biggest paper dosa I have seen in UK.
Very nice food. Good measures for social distancing.
Also mix uttapam and mango lassi were to the point.
Perfect in taste.
F. C.
So good. Appetizers of different types of poppadom and other savory snacks with sharp, spicy and coconut chutneys. Chicken starter was basically a full chicken curry, wonderful fresh Idli. The fish curry was very tasty with the coconut rice and parathas. Excellent for vegetarians too. Staff are so friendly, let us try the beers to figure out which one we liked best. Couldn't face dessert, way too full!

Amazing place for Indian food lovers...
A. A.
The ambience is lovely...feels to be in god's own country 🌴staff is friendly and the food is delicious.i would highly recommend to every South Asian 🥰
K. B.
Delicious food and friendly staff
R. H.
Lovely food. Nice atmosphere. Most staff very helpful.
S. M.
I loved this place , if you a willing to have South Indian dishes and also any other dishes you can have a visit to Tharavadu Restaurant. Situated near Leeds city centre area just beside Bandobast restaurant. I had gone for the lunch thali, but because of christmas time we got a an extended version of the regualar lunch thali. But i felt it was quiet costly otherwise taste is very good.
Happy eating..
D. P.
Fantastic choice of food, both vegetarian and otherwise. Friendly, efficient service in a nice setting. Very reasonably priced considering the high quality of the food and the city centre location.
P. O.
Honestly the nicest curry I've ever had. I cant remember what it was called but it came with masala potatoes and it was beautiful. It's just a shame you have to book so long in advance but it is so worth it.
R. V.
Amazing steamed authentic seafood!!! Thoroughly enjoyed meen polichadu :) Please try beef and mutton polichadu, they taste amazing too. As an Indian I would definitely vouch for the genuine native taste. Good service, but over crowded and noisy during dinner. If you are planning to visit as a group please reserve in advance.
J.
I found the starters really nice but mains were ..well meh!
P. M.
Well, meals were good, very warm welcome. The prices are little bit too high, but still reasonable. But it wasn't outstanding just like everybody stated. I am sorry to say, it was average in all ways.
C. N.
My favourite Indian restaurant in Leeds. Dishes are mainly from South India, which makes a change from the usual. Fish dishes are excellent and the lunch thali is great value. Lovely staff too!
S. C.
Great food, great service. One of the best Indian meals I have had. If you are on Leeds you must try it.
J. B.
Some of the best curry I've had. A step above what you usually get. The flavours are rich and clean, the portions are fair and are great for sharing and the service was top notch
A. R.
Superb food. Enjoyed thoroughly. Service team cheerful and very courteous. Fish & Prawns starters and Thali, awesome. Highly recommend this authentic Indian cuisine restaurant.
M. B.
Fantastic restaurant. The staff are very attentive and have a great sense of humour. The food is exquisite. A must try but can get busy.
A. B.
A regular and popular place for me and my colleagues. The food is so authentic and well prepared. The taste of each dish unique and true to recipe. Delicious food every time!
R. P.
Really glad to find an authentic kerala cuisine in the UK. Ambience and food both are amazing. The only thing that didn't live up to the expectation was the semiya payasam. Will definitely recommend and would visit whenever we are in the area.
J. G.
Love this place, lunchtime specials are especially great. Staff are brilliant and the food is better.
j. p.
You can never go wrong with this place.. mouth watering food ... Excellent service !!!
N. B.
This is one of the best South Indian lovelies you would find in uk.
Really good food at affordable price. Quantity is almost at par with traditional India.
Even though the taste can improve, this would be handsdown the best place to eat traditional Indian food in leeds.
P. J.
The food is delicious. Lovely helpful staff. Thankfuly this time we booked in advance. Now i know why its difficult to eat here. Definitely will return.
T. H.
This is not a curry house to go to soak up the beer at the end of a night out. This is a quality restaurant Indian style. Talk to the staff and they will recommend what to order
R. S.
The place decorations is nice. Pictures of all the regions from India are painted on the walls. Great service and delicious food. The price feels a bit steep.
S. C.
Just had lunch with a mixture of the express menu and full menu and the food was amazing. Group of seven and service was good, good piping hot and came out together. Overall a great experience.
S. B.
Always amazing! Keep coming to this place and never disappointed. Good food, great service. Must book in advance. Recommended.
C. H.
Excellent food. Have used for work dinners many times.
J. R.
Some of the food is really fantastic and some other dishes are exceptionally average. Negative marks for the pricing, which is punching way above its weight, and the laissez-faire attitude to service bordering on rudeness from a few staff members.
P. R.
Unbelievable
delicious food.
Attentive table service.
They go above and beyond expectations
Their mission is to provide excellent food and service
Fantastic 👏
A. E.
Menu is fairly intimidating to someone not familiar with Indian cuisine. Tried a couple curries which were very good. Service was a little sloppy... I had to ask for the check 3 times.
C. O.
You may walk into the venue and be slightly disappointed by the decor but that's purely superficial, sit down to eat and you'll be met with an array of beautiful flavour that pop in the mouth. Friendly helpful staff and busy jovial atmosphere. Will definitely go again
D. B.
I was sceptical about fish curries until my first visit here and now I love them. This is my favourite curry restaurant in all of Leeds, food is top top quality.
J. B.
I lived for nearly 2 years in Sri Lanka and the dhosas here brought those memories back. They felt authentically South Asian. Good varied menu, excellent service. We went at lunchtime and wasn't too crowded.
A. E.
I live this place for lunch. Would even partake of the veggie option. Who doesn't love a dosa.
Have been back again December 2018 and have to say just as good. I cant think of a place i would rather have a work day lunch. Tasty food, swift service and great value.
I upgraded to lamb v tast indeed if only a small pot. Dosa was crispy and pretty perfect.
C. H.
Very busy restaurant but service was good. It's in no way romantic or cosy but it's good for groups. Food was excellent but it is not the usual indian menu so you have to go with an open mind..
O. O.
Beautiful scenery. An amazing place to for a date or a group of friends. Delicious dishes as well
P. S.
Brilliant place for food guys! Awesome ambience and great staff! It's not just the food, but the staff which is fabulous! Will be back soon! Cheers! Keep up the good work!
M. B.
Love this restaurant the foods amazing.
M. R.
Awesome food and lovely staff. Probably the best curry I've had in Leeds or elsewhere. Highly recommended if you fancy something authentic.
A. V.
Very good restaurant - quite a surprise really. Excellent choice of vegetarian dishes. Very helpful and friendly staff. Decent range of beer as well.
R. A.
I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance, the staff were very helpful and the food was amazing, I had heard alot about this place and when I looked at the menu I was very reluctant to go, but the taste and flavours were very good.
E. A.
Some of the best food I've had in Leeds. Opted for the thali, as it gave a good taste of the menu. The beer selection is good, but worth nipping next door to Bundobust after for something a little more interesting.
J. B.
Great place to eat!
Really good actual Indian food. I'm hoping to get to Kerala some day but for the time being this will have to do!
Great service and food. You should go there.
T. V.
Very tasty food !!! I was for first time but I will come back.
v. s.
If you want authentic Kerala or South Indian cooking then look no further and run there! No need to take the next plane to Kerala!
Been here quite a few times with colleagues, friends and family. This is surely one of the best places to eat Kerala cooking / south indian cooking in the UK or even compared to the ones in India!
Portions are good and rates are reasonable. Service is good. Decor is OK but I and many others go here for the food. Evenings are usually fully booked and will certainly need a reservation even though the restaurant is only a few months old. Next to impossible getting a weekend evening booking unless you reserve well in advance. You know its a proper Kerala cooking when you find loads of Indians raving about the food here. The dont presently do event catering (I enquired) as they dont want to stretch the cooking staff and reduce the quality.
Dishes that are great are PADIPURA MIX SEAFOOD starter consisting of batter fried squid, grilled prawns, fried fish and mussels, IDLI, several fresh fruit juice cocktails, aapams, kalthaapams are out of this world with the delicious THARAVADU SEAFOOD CURRY consisting of King fish, squid, prawns, mussels and tilapia curry or the out of this world NJANDU VATTICHATHU whole crab curry, MEEN POLLICHATHU steamed fish curry wrapped in banana leaf, MEEN VARANJATHU Marinated whole boneless sea bass stuffed with ‘chemmeen peera’ made of shrimps and mix vegetables and grilled. The THALI non veg meal Tharavadu Sadya is good value for money and very filling. CRAB THORAN side dish is good too. The prawn soup is good as is the SEMIYA PAYASAM dessert. Tried quite a few other items too on the different occassions we went. Not sure why I am writing this review as I am not keen on not being able to get a reservation here in the future and its already difficult to get a reservation on weekends and have resorted to going there for lunch instead but that is a more limited menu except at weekends. Cant seem to get enough as after a meal there I end up getting a take away too for the next meal!
Hope they expand into a place with more seating soon or buy out the nearby restraurants to expand into. Do hope they open branches in the nearby towns as I presently have to drive 45mins to get there! Parking is at the nearby multistorey parking next to Chaophraya thai restaurant which is a minutes walk away or other locations nearby.
A. B.
Very nice, well spiced Sea Bass dish, with patatoes and rice! I was really happy with my choice. Good IPA beer.
A. R.
Yummmmmmm yummmmm yummmmmm😋😋😋 scrumptious food!!oh yes,, absolute true...the thali,,the soup,,the payasam everything is so perfect that you won't be able to forget until and unless you go next time to have it...I love it everytime😍
P. S.
My wife loves this place, me...its alright, I think its just a matter of taste. The place its self is spotless and welcoming, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is excellent, just not to my taste, but, cant fault it.
M. A.
Very friendly staff and very tasty dishes! A must to visit while you are in Leeds.
R. H.
Very friendly staff. Attentive. Clean restaurant. Wonderful food. Very busy but this didn't stop the service. Would go again when in Leeds.
A. P.
Excellent food, and most importantly excellent service by their staff.
W. P.
Personal favorite for Kerala food in Leeds....the taste is authentic and the staff helpful. The upper level opened recently and love that. Would highly recommend.
S. L.
Fantastic food and equally great service from and India restaurant with a south Indian focus. Slightly more expensive than your usual curry house but we'll worth it.
T. T.
Absolutely outstanding food. Service superb. Very authentic stunning food. Close to the station so easily accessible. The entire experience was fabulous 5 stars
D. G.
SouthIndian restaurant - very tasty food. Lunch has got special cheap thali which most people prefer.
I liked Appam with curry. Curry is not spicy but it matches my taste.
My wife likes pysam very much in a desert.
I would recommend to my friends.
Cons -
They dont do home delivery or take aways.
It’s always full on weekends.
S. B.
Best Indian restaurant in Leeds!
J. S.
The food is perfect (everybody at the table was 100% happy). Service is brilliant too. I'd eat here every night if I could!
R. d. S.

I was dying for a quality Indian meal and found this extremely busy restaurant, which managed to fit four extra people in. Quality of the food was top notch. Service was a touch slow but the food was worth the wait.
A. N. K.
Most tasteful authentic honest Kerala food i have had in UK over last 10yrs!!... Great ambience and service. Absolutely loved it. Top place.
C. D.
Great food, curry with a difference. Good range of vegetarian options, and the wine list even specifies vegan / vegetarian wine. Express lunch is very good.
A. M.
In terms of South Indian food, Tharavadu is without any doubts at the top of the line. Having a meal there is a cultural experience and a journey into the flavours that only the Kerala region can offer... An uplifting experience!
J. A.
If you pay £13 for a curry without a side you want it to be a standout meal. It wasn't. Fish was bland, slightly overcooked, and the snack tray, pickle and starter were, despite trying to be different, quite dull and poor. When Bundobust is next door I'm surprised they thought it would be acceptable. A £50 bill for 2 people for starter, mains and a drink each but I felt it was worth £35 maximum. This was part of my xmas present to my partner so I have particular reason to be disappointed, and it will be quite a while before I am tempted back here. If you are vegetarian, I would try Prashad, Bundobust or Corner Café first.
C. P.
Michelin recommended Tharavadu serves up some fantastic South Indian cuisine. Booking in advance is recommended, whenever you plan to visit. Service is fantastic and staff are incredibly attentive.
W. S.
Really good food. Authentic taste, friendly helpful staff. Acoustics could do with improvement. A bit pricey, but worth it
Y. A.
Excellent restaurant. Food was great, we had the express lunches and the dosa was hot and delicious. Service is excellent, couldn't have asked for a better experience!
S. K.
Delicious food's,friendly staff and very good service. Highly recommend..

J. C.
Some of the best Keralan food in Leeds if not the UK - fantastic place. Service overwhelmingly friendly too. Everyone must go to Tharavadu!
C. L.
Probably lives up to it's claim to be the best restaurant in Leeds.
Delicious food, HUGE portions.
Well worth the visit and the price.
M. C.
Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. Top-notch Indian food based on cooking from the Kerala region. Portions were huge.
B. B.
Good food & service, some of the dishes are unusual and a class above the usual Indian fare and really delicious
S. R.
It was my first time visiting Leeds and went for dinner here with my Friend (who recommended this place). The food was amazing...seriously it was the best Indian food I had in Europe 😍
S. D.
Amazing food by far best Indian food I’ve ever had . Next time I am in Leeds I will be making another visit .
