Really enjoyed this place. There is not a lot of seafood places to choose from Leicester, but this is the best one for me. A good choice of options as well as non-seafood such as chicken, lamb etc, so caters to pretty much everyone. This restaurant splits opinion, but the food was really good. The service we had was good, however my only complaint will be space. There was 3 of us, placed on a table for 4. But because we ordered a decent amount of food, we were struggling for space. Would have made sense for them to move us to a bigger table, but the other tables were taken up by the time our food had arrived.

Nice place with good atmosphere although no parking. Ordered the large platter of prawns which comes with 3 sides. Also a dynamite shrimps starter. Dynamite shrimps starter wasn’t great. Didn’t really have much flavour. Prawns were nice to begin with but got a little boring after a bit. I wasn’t too keen on the dips they came with, they were quite similar to each other and probably a little too thick for my liking. The rice and chips were good. Everything seemed fresh. Overall it was a good experience. I would recommend to get a small portion of prawns to share and get different mains. Probably would be more enjoyable.

Trip to Jimmy’s Killer Prawns in Leicester today! Can not fault anything.. we were advised that the lunch time special was 50 prawns & two sides for £40 of course this was what we ordered 😂🦐 There was only two of us & we had to have a takeaway box to take lots home could have easily have done four people. I ordered the dynamite prawn burger, and my friends ordered a chicken burger, grilled chicken and a prawn platter. The prawns in the burger were cooked nicely and tasted even better with the peri sauce we ordered on the side. The burger also came with decent chips. It was worthy travelling to here, heaven for the prawn lovers, tasty food, tasty drinks, parking isn't available as it's very busy road. Staff is super friendly and hardworking, service is very fast, can't fault except the rice were not tasty to me and option for bread were missing.

Ordered a prawns plater for 4 and a cheesy mushroom gratan as well as Calamari. The portion sizes were very generous, the prawns were fresh and well presented, making the food look very appealing and appetising. The prawns platter consisted of a portion of a large portion of chips and rice. The platter came with lemon butter, garlic & herb butter and Peri Peri dips. The prawns were medium prawns, grilled covered in a tomato based sauce making it very juicy, succulent and full of flavour. The calamari was crispy and went really well with the tartar sauce. Personally I found the prawns went better with chips than with rice. The mushroom gratan was really creamy and silky and the grilled cheese was really crispy. The mushroom were cooked to perfection they weren't too chewy or to soggy.

If u like prawns this place has buckets. Busy restaurant and a bit rushed but the prawns were great. All dishes prawn dishes were good. Just don’t order the prawns hot as the chilli level is off the scale. Could have done with some cold beer but no alcoholic drinks. Good location near town but parking is difficult. I’m told they no longer do the giant prawns.

Probably should’ve gone to eat in for the full experience but, I had a takeaway instead and the prawns weren’t really tender the texture of it was just really mushy and the chips did not taste fresh and the rice was quite flavourless to me. 10 out of 10 Absolutely beautiful food - no waiting around . Staff are extremely professional and attentive. Highly recommended and I would definitely go again. We ordered a prawn platter for 2 with rice and chips and it was absolutely succulent. Very very reasonably priced. I've added a video of the food so you can see how it looks. The food came with 3 x dips but the best out of the three is definitely the garlic butter!

Staff are attentive and food comes out quick despite how busy it is. The prawn platter is nice - prawns are a bit plain so I would recommend to get the spicy one for a bit more flavour which I enjoyed. Drinks are big no from me I didn't enjoy the pineapple mojito at all. Overall it's not amazing but worth a try.

Went with friends, group of six adults for a dine in. We tried the sharing plate. And ordered the 50 pcs shrimp. Lovely food. We also had the cream soup. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our visit and have already planned our next visit 😀

The service was great. We got the seafood platter for a family of four but needed to top it up with a platter for one due to small sides. The prawns were lovely . we got the spicy to start with which were great but then ordered the extra spicy which really had a kick both were amazing. The king/queen prawns were also delicous and were like mini lobsters packed with flavour. The calamari was a little dry and small, think they may have been over cooked slightly. The crab was also delicous but i gave up on the legs as they were so small and couldnt be asked. The fish fillet was fresh had nice flavour but pretty much standard sitting next to the king/queen prawns and crab. Chips were really nice too but the rice was a let down. The sauces were great and the jug of passion fruit lemonade went down a treat. I would go back for the spicy prawns and chips especially.

First time experience of eating a platter of prawns. You get a good selection of 5 different varieties of prawns, cooked in various delicious sauces. This is a messy feast though. Luckily, your asked if you would like gloves and a plastic apron before you start. The drinks were a little bit of a let down. I had the passion fruit lemonade. While it was freshly made, it did lack some flavour. Maybe my taste buds were dead after the spicy prawns!! Overall, a fun experience to try if you don't mind messy eating.

Nice fresh food, prawns are good but don’t know what the hype is about. A bit pricey but you would expect that from a seafood place. Ordered the 72 prawns platter between 3 people, was too much for us and got sickly, the sauce was horrible that came with it. Would I go again… yes just to try the other things but again nothing that was wow, just prawns that got abit boring. Customer service was 10/10. Turned up without booking a table, had to wait an hour for a table. Dont mind waiting just to see what this new kid on the block was all about. Was okay the overall experience.

Three and half stars for Jimmy's Killer Prawns and here's why: 1. Hygiene: As always, hygiene is what matters most to me. I think there was absolutely no problem with the hygienic conditions at the restaurant. The cutlery seemed clean, the tables, the floor and even the toilets. 2. Food: I always go for the same thing at Jimmy's: prawns. They have amazingly crispy prawns that are hard to find elsewhere in Leicester with reasonable prices. The plate in the picture is a two- sharer, filled with delicious prawns for 29 pounds only. I am absolutely in love with their garlic sauce. However, I'd really recommend that they provide discounts for their loyal customers. If you are looking for delicious prawns in Leicester, this is your destination. Yet, I haven't tried other seafood dishes they serve so I wouldn't be able to generalise. 3. Vibes and atmosphere: To be honest, I'm not a fan of their decoration nor their seating arrangement. Every time I go there, I find it extremely noisy and crowded. However, I love the fact that they have see- through glass where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of London road at night. 4. Service: One of the most important things for me as a customer is customer service. I will say that I am neutral in this one and I would really recommend that they provide seats for those who haven't booked tables so that they can comfortably wait for their table to be arranged instead of asking them to stand by the door. They are your customers after all. I meet with really nice staff sometimes when I go there and other times, I don't. I wish all restaurants would highlight the importance of providing excellent customer service to their customers. This would really improve your business and also satisfy your customers. All in all, Jimmy's Killer Prawns do serve killer prawns that I really recommend. I would have given them four stars if it weren't for customer service and awkward vibes.

First of all , this is one of the best places to go if you like seafood in the midlands and secondly the staff are very friendly and helpful.Special thanks to Chow and Zayne for being amazing people and treating us with respect and making us feel at home. Great great staff! Very friendly and professional, I would say they're the best thing in this place. The servings were nice. The amount is very good for the money. However, I -unfortunately- didn't like the fried platter. To be honest, the waiter advised me to get the grilled, but I was craving some fried seafood. Only complaint, although the parking is free, the carpark is tiny, had to wait 30mins to be let out by people who blocked me in. Was asked to pay in cash... saw others pay by card... had to go to a cash point in the rain... I have a feeling from reading down the reviews the owners stereo type people for payment options. If you don't eat all your food they place in take away boxes... and when we got home it was still warm, perfect... overall I liked it... but not sure I will go again.

Expensive but such a treat eating here!!! Food was so nice. All I can say though is that the lobster is not whole meat. It is just a lobster shell stuffed with filling that contains a tiny amount of lobster meat so not worth getting. Tues/Thurs prawn platter deal is extremely worth it. We went in with the government's 50% discount and got our booking at 9pm and the restaurant was still busy. However, we didn't wait for long for our table at all. Even after we placed an order, the food arrived quite quick. You have to get the menu by scanning the QR code so make sure your phone has battery and can access to internet. We ordered spicy Killer Platter for 2 people. Lovely prawns! Strong seasoning yet not too empowering, went well with the rice. The prawn size was not massive but good bite size. The prawn meat was firm. I love that the shell was easy to peel or if you want to eat it with the shell you can do as well as it was really crispy. One thing I didn't particularly like was that they used plastic cutlery and cups. You cannot use a plastic knife to cut anything. For the price of their food, plastic cutlery/cups make it look a bit... Cheap? But then again that's maybe just me or maybe it's their regulation for Covid-19. I also like that they have many hand sanitiser stations and the toilet was clean. We went on a busy so it's really loud in the restaurant and you can't really talk to anyone cause you have to keep shouting. Not really the restaurant fault but wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a quiet place. The service is ok. They handled a busy long night pretty well. Platter for 2 (36 pcs) £29.00

I went here for my 18th on the 6th of November. The food was fantastic, full of flavour and the seafood tasted fresh. I ordered the mussels, calamari & prawns. The mussels were slightly overdone as it was chewy but the sauce was nice. Calamari was gorgeous, tender and juicy but the tar tar sauce was way too vinegary. The prawns were slightly over done because they weren't easy to peel. But the great customer service meant we got new ones which were more tender and easy to peel. I would also say that their prawns could have been drained as it was really oily at the bottom, so the chips ended up absorbing it. The garlic dip was fab, but too oily as well, it would be better as a fresh garlic aioli. But overall, great flavours and if the chefs learn and improve, it will be a better favourite of mine! 😊

The decor inside is very nice and modern, I have been to their branches in Sout Africa and was used to the food there as well as the portions given there. In comparison to the south African branches i can say that the portions were a lot smaller here. The service and ambiance was great when we entered we got seen and served straight away, food didn't take long to come. However after the food was served it took around 10 mins just to ask someone for the bill as they all seemed busy. Overall i would say its a nice pllace, i couldn't find parking on london road easily on a Saturday afternoon.

Great place to eat if you love seafood. Lots of choice on the menu, staff friendly if a little slow to serve but it was relatively busy on a Tuesday evening (Specials night). Prawns were cooked spot on. Spicey option is not that hot to be honest. Price is a little expensive but to be expected for seafood really. I would visit restaurant again and recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood. You get 50 prawns in the Tuesday special platter and rice or fries and dips. This easily fills 2 to 3 people. Restaurant is halal so no alchohol.

Thanks to my friend Socraties, who referred me to go Jimmy's killer prawns Leicester, to taste the best seafood in uk . Went las week ordered seafood platter and prawn fiesta with some starters. Really enjoyed the food , especially fiesta and seafood platter special thanks to cheff who made it, it was fabulous and fantastic. I had similar items in other areas,but this taste was very good . Love to go again with friends next week . Strongly recommending others just visit once to taste your favorite food

Got a slight canteen feel to the place, this isn't a fancy Michelin restaurant, they just serve great prawns along with some other seafood and none seafood dishes . The prawns are always on point. Really tasty. We had a platter for three as we're hungry hippos and the dynamite prawns. Definitely stick to the Prawns, as that's what they're really good at. Entrance is suitable for a wheelchair and they will happily accommodate your needs. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The men's however, were worse than Shrek's swamp with water all over the floor and smelt horrible. The sink is some weird flat thing which just wasn't draining fast enough. Someone needs to think these things through.

Absolutely love this place. Found it on YouTube reviewed by halal hangouts. Its a shame I was in a rush to get to Gatwick, so could only stop for 30 mins to eat. I told them this and they had my platter out in 10 mins perfectly cooked and soo juicy, be warned if you have an issue with shelling prawns then this particular dish isnt for you. If you want comfort seafood then this is the place for you. They do have a large menu and seating capacity is plentiful. The platter for 2 comes with 36 prawns, fries or rice and 3 dips which were amazing, get plenty of napkins...you'll need them. Service was prompt, polite and helpful. Be warned though, it is on the main road in the town centre so parking is an issue. I do recommend driving past it, take the first available left and make your way around the back, near the train station. There is a relatively cheap pay and display parking lot just on that same street. I do recommend this place and I can't wait to go back, take my time and go through the menu.

Ordered a big family platter so the wait was quite a while. At least 45 minutes. The prawns were amazing so juicy and flavoursome. And the fillet fish was so delicious and crispy. The chips were decent, but the rice was horrible no flavour whats so ever so bland. Wouldn't get that again. Crabs were yummy but so fiddly so if you have time to mess around defo get it. Service was good and there was a prayer room which i was most impressed about.

Jimmys killer prawns in Leicester UK. South African style prawns recipe went there 3 years ago for a table for 2 smelt good but walked out within 2 minutes of arrival empty restaurant and despite requesting a table in a warm location and was placed by the window so we walked out. I reckon that was down to the waiter not doing his job so anyway gave this place the benefit of doubt and gave it another try and boy were we impressed . We had a millionaires platter for four and it came medium spiced and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was really lively and nice too. I'm giving it a solid 10.

A bit confused with the high rating. Their food is quite overpriced and not really worth the cost. For the price you'd expect authentic food, however their Paella is nothing that resembles the Spanish dish. Likewise the rest of the food, although decent, was nothing special. Better off going to a cheap fish & chip shop. The interior is clean and new- looks like a diner instead of a fancy restaurant. I have to say, their Covid-19 safety measures have been the best I've seen so far though.

Went here today for a birthday meal. Food was varied African chicken and prawns were great. Jimmy's saucy prawns tasted like the other platter of prawns we had ordered. The Caribbean chicken was tasteless just grilled chicken breast with no taste. Drinks are very sweet most tasted the same just with different colours. What was really lacking was the service we had to keep asking for things forks, napkins, drinks menu (even though the waitress was really nice) and when we had finished no one came to our table to clean up or get the bill I had to send my son to get it after waiting over 15 minutes

Visited restaurant about 6 days ago. Neat and clean. We were in a group of 6. Service was excellent. I have full marks for the waitress from South Africa. Not only did she bring our food but she gave us a two minute demonstration how to peel the shell from the prawns and eat it with our fingers. Very Jolie person. The owner of the restaurant, Mr Makda, who came to the UK from Malawi, also came to our table to get our comments on the food. We were pleased with his behaviour. We ordered a platter of 50 prawns for £29.99, a special feature on Tuesdays, and several other dishes. I liked the dynamite prawns. They were lovely. Hand washing facilities were at some distance from the food hall and we had to make our way there in a somewhat dim passageway. Overall, well worth the visit. It cost us £18 each, approx.

When we initially went the waiter brushed us off but there’s a really nice lady working there, a main member of staff who sorted us out with a table quickly. But on the last visit I found the quality and the service is bit lacking, some of the prawns on the platter weren’t fried/cooked well also the hygiene level of the resturant floor weren’t appealing. Toilets conditions were very poor. I thought of sharing so that they would improve in future. Hence taking off 2 stars away. Cash payments are very inconvenient as most people prefer card payments, Other than this it’s a must visit seafood resturant in town. Take cash , not card!

I have never seen such positive, proactive and helpful staff and they are a true credit to the restaurant. It's family friendly restaurant with high chairs and they bring an activity sheet and crayons to keep little ones occupied. TIPS: 1) It's 2019 and the place doesn't accept debit/credit cards. There is a cash machine nearby but that's not the point, it can put a damper on the evening. 2) Parking is very limited to about 6-7 cars, so got to get there eearly otherwise you'll have to park elsewhere. 3) If you have a birthday coming up, join asap! It's a little convoluted but we saved over 25%. FOOD: Ordered a very large platter of prawns, crabs, calamari, chips and rice platter as well as sushi. Sushi was very good, I think there's room for improvement when it comes to the tastes/flavours of the prawns but nonetheless it was still very good! Definitely be revisiting on special occasions.

Personally this is the first time I've ever left a review about any food place .That's because me as well as my family were all blown away with the quality .The staff were immaculate as soon as we walked through the door. They were all very engaging and service was great. Decor was terriffic, great environment. And the food omg. 10/10 my whole family has never enjoyed a meal that much. Except for my dad who wasn't impressed but yet still ate the leftovers the next morning before anyone could get their hands on it. So I'm guessing he loved it too .keep up the good work and I'll be back!

My first visit to Jimmy prawns with family, I was very happy with the service, my family was looked after very well and the food was delicious and plentiful. Kashmiri prawns were delicious and nice and spicy, rice was also very tasty. Overall I'm very happy and will come back again. Young gentleman called waleed looked after us very well and came often to our table and made sure we were ok and was very friendly with our children. Have been here many times but was let down this one time, the prawns were very bland. It's like they are being tight with there marinade. Prawns were tasteless. In their first few days of opening so if you want to eat here, reserve in advance. Friendly and helpful staff but they seem mostly very inexperienced so expect to ask and also be asked the same questions multiple times... The food itself is quite good. Would highly recommend the dynamite prawns for starters. If you have the mussels in the spicy sauce, prepare yourself, that sauce is super spicy! Had the killer prawns platter for main as that's what they are famous for and although it tasted good, I was expecting abit more kick. The waitress told me it would be spicy and it wasn't in the least. The trio of sauces that accompany it arrived 10 minutes after the platter and only after we'd had to ask for it 3 times! Service was generally terrible but as I have mentioned, they seemed inexperienced so can't really do anything about it except have some patience.

after hard search of best seafood restaurant ,visited jimmy a day back on my friend suggestion . me and my friends ordered a seafood platter ,millionaire with cheese bread and burgers . what i came to know after had a delicious dinner . polite waiters ,immediate response from them when we need something. food was delicious , i never had that tasty seafood platter and millionaire before . mostly their commitment towards social- distancing and covid-19 rules made me wonder . finally must visit restaurant ,i m sure you loved it . thanks to jimmy you made my day........ waiting for next visit....

Can't complain with the food at all (just be prepared that you will wait 35-45 minutes for mains as that's apparently how long all mains take) Service overall was slow. We waited 30 minutes just for drinks and with the weather, we were desperate. Waitresses are obviously inexperienced but there was no apologies for anything. A different girl to who took our order asked on 2 separate occasions about what we had ordered. We asked 3 times for our sauces and they came once we'd finished our food. We spoke to the manager just to give some feedback and she didn't seem too bothered about their customer service either. Overall, we were in there for an hour and a half and we're only giving 3 stars because the food really pulled it back.

It's a nice place with good food. I has read the reviews before choosing to go with family so thought we would try it out. The waitress we had was very knowledgeable about the food and specials, which makes a change as most of the time you find the waiters simply expect you to know what to get. I was not sure that prawna would fill me up as I was quite hungry so ordered a mixed dish. There are a variety of options, which include family platters as well as a la carte items. Only downside is the car park, which is small in comparison to the size of the restaurant. Also they do not take cards so cash only I'm afraid.

The prawns were really nice, especially Mozambique variety. Best place that has served prawns in Leicester at least. Best prawns we had since Tenerife. we did request additional chilli type seasoning on the prawns this was not done even though the waitress said they would. Service was pretty slow but this is not a bad thing if everything is prepared freshly. However the ribs were not very tasty and has a ketchup type sauce pasted over them and the meat tasted old.

Went today with my family and friends, rang before 5:30 for a last minute booking for 18 people. The lady that answered and served us in the restuarant I believe is called Maria Mary, she was absolutely amazing. Her hard work and amazing customer service honestly made our first experience at Jimmy's unforgettable!! She asked us if we would prefer more private seats considering there was a lot of us, and so we did we felt very accommodated! Food was amazing, this place is defo needed in Leicester. Cannot fault the food, the staff and of course especially to Maria for being so lovely and hard working. Thank you so much, we will be coming back again and again!!

This is probably my favourite restaurant in Leicester. Food is great, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and to top it off they have prayer room facilities and parking (yes, on London Road!). On Tuesdays they have their Killer Prawns Mountain deal and it is amazing. It's 50 massive prawns and a side of chips or fries for just under £30. I always get their creamy seafood soup which is without a doubt the best soup I've ever had in my life, and I also love their Just Peachy Mojito mocktail, so nice. Highly recommend!

I do not know the young lady who served us mainly, however, Waleed I remembered his name because of his name tag. I would like to thank Waleed, the young lady who served us at Table 24 which we kept for the 3 days that we ate dinner at Jimmys. We are the family of 3 from Antigua, the starters were excellent, we had the two types of mussels, calamari, garlic bread, the main course was excellent also, the salmon spaghetti, or the grilled salmon served with rice, stir fry vegetables and the desserts were awesome, I tried the frozen ice cream, the cheese cake, brownies. Thanks a lot Jimmys for making my family first trip to England, at Leicester a memorable one. A hearty thank you to Waleed, our server, the young lady and the rest of the team.
