Lovely chip shop, very old apparently, like step back in time, great little seating areas upstairs and down. Good food chips very fresh not at all greasy. Not overpriced either.

Great service and great meal. The shop is however small so waiting outside is something that will happen. There is a a rat in option but on this occasion we did not use. There is disabled access to the take away area. Also great jokes on there outside boards kept my little one amused till lunch was ready.

Absolutely amazing Fish Chips and Peas for a very good price. They are definitely the BEST I have had for donkeys years. They reminded me of how they use to be when I was a child. The staff and owner were very professional and friendly.The only downside is that this Ciippy isn't in Nottingham :-( but will definitely be visiting it again in the near future.

Mini fish, chips and curry sauce. Sat at the side of the river to eat them. Prefect Friday lunch. Always brilliant fish and chips, always good service. Great value for money. And nice and spicy curry sauce.

Usually nip in once a fortnight or so for a cone of chips for a lunchtime treat. Today I had their fish for the first time in my many years living here and honestly it was the best battered fish I've ever had. Blumming delicious.

Really nice fish and chips, but quite pricey. It was £9.30 for regular fish and chips and a breadcake which seemed a lot for just a takeaway. The fish also still had the skin on it which may upset some folk. Tasted very fresh and top quality and will definitely go there again when visiting the area. 10/10.

I was 5 years old when I had my first fish and chips from sign of the fish 20 years later I'm still coming here getting the same order fish chips and mushy peas, and every time I have been since I was a boy has been fantastic there has never been a problem with the meal the way its made makes me feel close to home

I travelled up from London for work and popped in here. I can honestly say it's some of the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Non gressy and perfect size crispy chips. Fish was fresh Was going to get takeaway, but they mentioned they have a restaurant, which was a nice quaint quiet getaway sitting upstairs away from it all. All on all, very enjoyable, great prices. Will definitely visit again.

Not flashy but as traditional as it gets great fish and chips good prices see below. In my top 10 Fish and Chip shops. Make sure you head though the ally to the back door and sit down upstairs near the window. Back again. And again have to add something prices have risen a bit now £8 for fish chips and peas quality and portions still good.

A delicious generous piece of fish with chips well presented in a tray and wrapped to look like a boat (if left open). Staff really nice and friendly but too shy to look at camera 😋. A little dining room to eat in also. Recommended 👍

Have always loved Sign of the Fish chips, they are always fresh, hot and tasty. I only have chips and scraps but they is a lot of choice otherwise. Prices are perfectly reasonable, tray of chips are £2.10. Staff are always very friendly and chatty. There is a cafe/seating area around the back but never used it so couldn't comment. There are plenty of benches nearby if you want to eat outside, be ready to share with the local pigeons though!

Lovely fish and chip shop, stairs are small and a challenge but worth it for the food. All the staff are welcoming and helpful. You and even get batter bits or scrums as they call them.

This came up as the best "place to eat near me" on Google and the reviews are very good too. It's a small entrance to the cafe which is easily missed, but we'll worth finding. ( Side of the main shop) Plenty of seating upstairs and a couple of tables downstairs. We sat near the window and had fantastic " Typically British" fish and chips. Lovely white meat on the fish and fresh made chips. We will definately return here again.

Initial impressions are misleading. The fish was beautiful and white, the batter super crispy and not a greasy chip in sight. Staff couldn't do enough for us. If you want 4 fancy triple cooked chips, this isn't the place, but if you want classic fish and chips done right this is perfect

Best fish and chips a I’ve ever tried and before this experience i couldn’t understand why some people really like this dish. But this lovely place changed my mind. Must go! The Sign of the Fish is a restaurant I have been gooing to for many years. The staff are very friendly and helpful good value for money as Monday to Friday they do a pensioners deal as well as a deal for children. Very clean old place good value for money and a very friendly atmosphere. We'll done to the Management especially the serving staff for nothing is to much for them.

The place serves amazing food, which is a huge compliment for any business. However, I'm a bit questioned as to why it's only opened for 3 and a half hours during the week, especially on a Friday when it's the 'fish n chip' day of the week. On a Saturday, you've probably got the right opening times (11-4), so why not the same for Friday? Other than that, I do highly recommend getting your fish n chips from here and the staff are really friendly as well. Just take note of the opening times in case you get out of bed too late like I did 😃

mixed reviews from myself and my partner. I have been using this shop since the early 80's but it has been a very long time since I last went due to not being local anymore. It is still as charming and oldy worldy as it was it 20 years ago. The fish and chips are excellent and the portions very good. It all tasted lovely and filled a much needed hole. The staff were very polite and friendly. On a whole it was a very good experience. obviously things change over time but some points we would like to raise are. my Partner doesn't like the skin on her fish so really you should give people the option. Mugs of tea are ok but we preferred it when you did individual pots etc.(old fashioned) We would recommend this place to anyone without a thought. Keep up the good work guys as uk traditional fish and chips is slowly being eroded and merged into other food areas ie burger and kebab shops with appalling results.

I always come to sign of the fish , I have tried fish and chips from so many different places , but sign of the fish is the best chippy in Lincoln . Real traditional , authentic British fish and chips . I love this place !!!! Friendly staff too . Great food .

Was in City feeling Hungry, walked passed and Smelt the lovely smell of Fish and Chips , Takeaway was really busy so we thought we would try the Cafe , it was a bit of a Small area downstairs , they do have more tables up some winding stairs , but got a Table and the food was lovely , well worth every Penny, the staff are very Friendly, Would go again .
