Reviews of Mustard&Co

Went for a birthday dinner on a Sunday. The food was incredible and the servers were attentive. Small menu but this just ensures the quality of the food is top notch. We had the Salmon and Beef roasts, both were great (special mention to the roast potatoes which were 👌 ).

The food couldn't have been any better. Possibly the best food quality I've ever experienced. The staff are all friendly and helpful and we really appreciated the free starter. It was exquisite. Thank you so much! 😁🙏

We got a warm welcoming and friendly staff with a lovely atmosphere. Food was cooked by Thomas the head chef. Food he cooked was a work of art you didnt want to brake it up to eat it. Reasonably priced food and drinks. A hidden gem and a must visit if you like beautiful food. Will be definitely going back.

I wanted to like this place more than three stars as the food quality and presentation is excellent, but there are some things that just let it down...
Ventilation - it needs windows that 'open', we were offered a seat near the cooking area, it was like sitting next to a Furnace 🔥, we opted to sit outside, this was much nicer (I could see people inside 'fanning' themselves)🤣
Bread Rolls - when you offer Bread, I'd expect it to be nice 'Artisan' type bread, not a Bread Roll like I get on a Plane 😱 - the Marmite butter was nice, but charging £3.50 for a little (overcooked) Bread Roll is bad 👎
Pork Belly starter - Looks great, the pulled Beef ball accompanying it was great, but the Pork Belly was cold, far too fatty and miniscule in size! Again, charging £11 for that is poor 👎
Fish and Chips - This is where you excelled 👍 The Fish (Coley?) was probably the best fish and chips I've ever had - well cooked and delicious. The Veggy Goan Curry was also excellent, both a bargain at £17 each 👍
Drinks are reasonably priced which is another good thing 👍
Service is good with the staff being attentive and helpful.
It is a nice place to eat, with great food and its local too. Lots of people rave about it, so maybe I was just unlucky that night..?
It won't put me off going again, I'll just be more careful with what I order next time 😉

Great vibe, great food, great service. We had the Sunday lunch, one vegetarian, one beef. Both incredibility good! Definitely worth a visit here!

We had the 8 course tasting menu. We were seated in the conservatory area which unfortunately had tables that meant you couldn't move your legs or sit comfortably. It also meant you were away from the buzz of a restaurant. The first four courses were wonderful. The steak was particularly rare, mine alot more than my husbands. Three courses of desserts was a bit too much dessert and the only one that stood out was the macaroon. The wine pairings were ok, not sure 40 pound for 5 small glasses of wine which includes a dessert wine was decent? Staff were lovely and when trying to tip we were directed to a website that charged a fee to tip and then froze several times so we didn't end up being able to tip. I didn't feel like the experience was worth the money. Also being charged for coffees seems mean when you have already paid 120 per person.

We had a rather tasty roast dinner but sadly the beef wasn’t pink as promised. The red cabbage was too sweet and I was judged for asking for salt. The carrots and gravy were delicious. The meat portion could have been more generous for the price tag. We were disappointed to be offered just one dessert which was the sticky toffee pudding (sadly not with custard), when my friend was queuing for the toilet she saw the staff eating a chocolate torte and offering other customers two dessert options. I have no idea why we were only offered one option and we decided to go for dessert at another local establishment.

Presentation by Jay the chef is an art!
Avocado rose amazzzzzing and poached eggs cooked to perfection! Check out the Acai Super Fruit Smoothie Bowl too.. yum! Highly recommended x

This is a charming small cafe - the chef is right there at the centre of things, and it's wonderful (and perhaps comforting) to see fresh ingredients laid out in the open.
Pictured are the special breakfast tacos, which tasted as good as they look. The blue corn tacos add an extra dimension to the flavour and the dish was well executed.
The menu is light bites and quite 'brunchy' which is no bad thing for this style of place
If you can't eat eggs and don't like avocado you might find the menu a bit restricted as one or the other feature in most dishes.
It's a touch of the main strips in the area, but for sure, it's worth the effort to seek this place out.

Superb in every way. Went with a party of seven and everyone loved the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended

Great experience, and the highlight is Ruby, whilst clearly new in her career her service and attention with effort was outstanding : quite rare these days and a credit to her trainer! And the business. Promote her !!

Wow another fantastic meal @Mustard&Co on 9th April. The tasting menu was amazing and we chose to complete this alongside the wine flight and we were not disappointed. Every course was beautifully presented and explained and the food was delicious. There was a nice time break between each course and there was no rushing you along like there can be in some restaurants.
Staff we all friendly, but not too fussy, so you could relax and enjoy each others company.
If you haven't yet booked, what are you waiting for? Would highly recommend. We've already booked to go back.

Great place, great food, great people!

The roast has recently been ranked in the top 4 for the best roasts in the UK, and you know what I can confirm it deserves to be there.
Every aspect of the roast is seasoned to perfection, to the point I was contemplating licking the plate clean (this is also why I don't have any pictures, I couldn't wait to get stuck in).
This is a great restaurant with amazing food and superb staff, which I can't recommend highly enough.
Make sure you go and check them out!

Small really friendly restaurant. Went for afternoon tea which was excellent.
The savoury selection was amazing much better than the usual run of the mill sandwiches.
The staff were lovely and very attentive
Will be back soon

Thank you for the hospitality

Visited Mustard today for a Sunday Roast, the food was absolutely amazing. I would go as far to say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had in a restaurant. The service was great and the staff were very helpful. However, the portions were on the small but still worth it.

Lovely little gem in Waterloo. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and excellent food.
T. C.
Amazing food, drinks and they have Spanish Alhambra beer.

Had a lovely birthday meal tonight. Great food and service in a relaxed setting. Visited a couple of times and never been disappointed

I love what they are trying to do ... not perfect at this price point but by far the best in the area .. the tasting menu has many highs but also some not so high. Its still very nice and good value.. One little bit of advice to them would be the gravy / jus would be better started from scratch and the essential cuisine if used needs to be managed better or ideally not used at all. Its a long process but that's the detail and endeavor that will set you apart, and at the price point its what you would expect .
They have a stonking pinot noir sold by the glass that is fantastic ,expensive but fantastic . Staff are great warm and relaxed , and its so good to have to have this quality on your door step ....so on the whole a lovely night and a recommended local bistro .. give it a try ..
J. B.
The food is delicious presented beautifully. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and efficient. I personally feel, it's slightly overpriced.

My wife and I went for dinner last Saturday evening and had the December tasting menu. Back in the day, we've had brunch at Mustard & Co and then during lockdown/Covid restrictions we enjoyed the takeaway roast and a couple of takeaway/finish at home menus so we have seen some evolution to where it is now! The food is imaginative, varied and delicious. The wine pairing was excellent. The staff friendly and clearly passionate about their diners enjoying their experience. This is Michelin Star quality food in a cosy local restaurant environment. There aren't many places in Liverpool and the surrounds that can compete. We will be back!
J.
Fantastic food and wine. Never a bad experience here!
B. H.
Great place for a top class diner.
P. K.
There is no question about it, this is truly the best restaurant in Liverpool. The menu is varied, meticulous and delectable. I would highly recommend to anyone. Definitely deserving of Michelin Star. 😊

Wow were do I start. We went here for anniversary on Friday 20th the food was absolutely stunning. We were so looked after. I can honestly say I didn't want to leave here. What an amazing place can't wait to come back, we've not stopped telling our friends, think there getting fed up of hearing about it 😆. Thanks once again for making our night so very special x
R. S.
Super afternoon tea. One of the best I have had. Will definitely return and try the main menu. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.
A. O.
Food is absolutely gorgeous 😍 and the staff too 😍
J. M.
Disappointing as went for lunch with a friend, unfortunately only a 2 courses for £22 menu available, no lighter options. Had soup which was very rich with fancy rolls & butters but not great for £6.95. Guess I should have checked the menu beforehand. Staff attentive but had to specifically ask for a soup spoon.
P. A.
Superb food beautifully cooked and full of lovely flavours. Your staff were very helpful and pleasant.
K. B.
With all restaurants closed Mustard have offered a service that is outstanding. Its more than takeaway, much much more. With easy to follow instructions we've had some fantastic meals that have been better than I've paid for in seated restaurants. When they open for real we'll be there, sat down, eating.
A. W.
Fantastic cook at home option, instructions were clear and food was too quality, worth every Penny. Also special thanks for sorting out a gluten free option. Can’t wait to eat in soon!

Decided to come here instead of moose after having been recommend Mustard&Co. Must say, we weren't disappointed one bit. Great food selection, great choice of drinks and lovely staff. They even went out of their way to get us a condiment we were after. Decor is also on point, nice little touches with all their wine bottles on the wall with a description below. Highly recommended!!
C. B.
Excellent small local restaurant. The menu is small but the food is excellent when we went they had two meat, one fish and one veggie option. The fish and meat options we choose were fantastic.

We went to Mustard on Monday 24th February. There was three adults and one baby. My niece and I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. My sister - in - law had the avocado and poached eggs. The baby had pancakes with fruit. The service was excellent, they promptly got a high chair for the baby and made us feel welcome The presentation of our meals were second to none, with the salmon and avocado designed as roses. . We would highly recommend this place to anyone. We can't wait for our next visit.

Nice little local business. Have only visited here for a coffee but hope to return for food as the menu looked good and it smelt lovely inside. Plenty of staff and service was relatively quick. Staff very friendly. Not lots of seating inside, but they do have a small annex on the side to get more people inside. Will definitely be returning here soon
J. S.
Went to Mustard last Sunday for a roast with my wife and discovered an absolute gem of a place, the staff were excellent and professional and the food was unbelievably good. We couldn't eat it all but it was probably one of the best roast dinners I had ever eaten. Definitely worth a visit and I will be returning sooner rather than later.
Regards
John

I really can't put into words how good this place is. I found this hidden gem by pure chance, as I was working in the area . If your looking for a feel good atmosphere , with amazing food then this is the place for you. Short and simple menu , staff are really pleasant and in a nutshell 10/10.
Spanish omelette with halloumi is my choice for breakfast and the Mrs was the smoked salmon. Kids on the usual pancakes and again food was amazing.
.some may say it could be slightly expensive
But if you want quality then it worth every penny .
Also perfect for all the family .
I'll deffo be returning

Second time there today. First time my partner and I both had a gorgeous veggie breakfast - literally one of the best we've had! Then today he got the same because he loved it so much 😋
I unfortunately couldn't indulge as I've got bad toothache, but they were so accommodating to that and my food intolerances. I had a lovely lentil dahl, yum!
Definitely one of our new favourites, thanks guys 😘😘
