Came in today to taste the new menu and it was spectacular! The food was amazing, the lady who served us Cathy was lovely, always asking us about drink refills and the man behind the bar mark always had a smile on his face, the staff in here are nothing but friendly, thank you halfway!

Plenty of space to eat, the out door area is nice as well, as it was a warm night it was good to have a choice where to sit. The Fish, chips sweet potato fries with peas and and an extra side of salad was absolutely lovely very hot and crisp. Some times sweet potato fries in other places can be a bit soft , the ones I was served were hot and crisp as was the fish, the side salad was very tasty. Cathy the server was very attentive, friendly and hard working , nothing was to much trouble. The bar staff were very friendly We Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Visited the Halfway House for a family meal with a party of 17. Although we hadn’t booked we were sorted with tables next to each other and every effort was made to accommodate us all. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, especially our waitress with the dark hair(sorry didn’t catch her name). Food was nice and very reasonably priced too. Decor is very good and there’s plenty of space between tables if you’ve got children with you who get a bit restless and want to walk about a bit. Overall a good pub, great staff and nice food! Also has the footy on and an outside area with tables!

Foods OK, looks better than it tastes, but bland, big portions, chicken bit dry, tasteless, chicken platter with no chicken wings. No butter for corn on cob. Pints are nice, staff friendly, lovely decor and set up.. Great for watching the food all, tvs are really clear.. Cooks let this place down ..

Since the Halfway House started serving food again, it has been our regular eatery and has never disappointed in delivering quality food and excellent service. The service from the staff is absolute top-quality, notably Cathy, who is never seen without a smile or a friendly word or two while she looks after her customers, even when it is busy. Booked for a late lunch with my aunty and grandad who has mobility issues. Food was great but the service was amazing. Cathy could not have done more for us, despite being on her own serving several large tables she gave a personalised and warming service which went above and beyond. This place has improved massively over the years. It used to be quite run down,but we were warmly welcomed by lovely staff, into a pleasantly decorated place. Bar staff were attentive, but I was disappointed in a few things. The Pepsi tasted like soap, the burger that should have had onion rings on it did not come with said onion rings, and it took about 25 minutes to bring out 2 desserts. Underwhelming is the word.

Visited the Halfway House yesterday, not having been there for a while. We where really impressed with the new look inside and out . On entering the premises , we where quickly seated by a lady called Kathy at the rear of the building by a large window which flooded the room with natural light and a view outside . The food was hot and tasty , exactly the way you'd want it to be. When ordering our food we explained to Kathy that if possible could we just order some starters , then the mains afterwards . Thats not a problem she replied. So a big thumbs up to the halfway house and a big Shoutout to Kathy (Cathy) very attentive.

Thank you very much food was very nice and the whole team do you proud kayleigh and Pablo always make time to talk to us and have everything we need. Food was tasty and hot also got us a nice spot for the football as the bar was full up with regulars moaning about the sound being to loud if this was liverpool playing its a whole different story. You have to take into account that other people want to come out and watch games. They need to stop putting pressure on the staff as its not fair on them to be made to feal awkwardness. Anyway thanks for getting us moved to the snug and all worked out for the best I will be phoning up to book the tables I require in the sports bar and I feel like I'm becoming a regular now and enjoy my time in the pub Well done staff for doing your best 👌

My favourite family friendly local pub. Since Marie and Paul have taken over with Sizzling brewery, the Halfway House has become the best pub in the area. And to top it off they serve quality tasty pub food. The peri peri chicken skewers are delicious and even quite healthy. The pub bites and sides are very tasty and perfect if your having a drink and don’t want to get too full. Atmosphere is friendly, warm, cosy and inviting. Nice customers, mostly from the local area. We are very lucky to have such a nice pub to call our local. Thank you to all the Halfway House staff 😊👏🏼

First time we have visited here in a long time and was surprised at how lovely it looks. Food was lovely too. However the experience in itself was far from pleasant. We were sat at a table up a few steps which seemed to be a children's play area. We were trying to enjoy our meal but had Several children climbing on the chairs at our table, children running around our table squealing, knocking our belongings over several times, was just a really unpleasant experience, which is a shame.

Good social distancing - difficult to see how you could book beforehand though. We did manage to sneak in without a booking and were well accommodated by Cathy (who told us kitchen was closed but managed to get us fed) and Dave ('there's an hour wait on food' - food came within 10 minutes). Stuff like menus could be cleaner. They were sticky. Otherwise, good and good value.

Even Better Buttermilk Italian Style Chicken what was I had and I could easily eat it again, absolutely gorgeous. The new decor is a huge improvement to the way it looked before. There is more parking at the back of the pub to the right.

Nice Traditional Surroundings. Service at Bar a little slow and were not even busy! Have had a meal here previously and food quite nice, but potatoes very dry and soggy, looked like they had been left there reheating for quite a time. Didn't have much to do with staff but management didn't seem hands on. Too busy eating and talking themselves. Prefer the Greenhills if I'm honest!

Haven’t had a carvery here with the meat in a long time so I can’t comment on that. However, the fish served here is impeccable, the fish is succulent and tasty with a perfect crispy battered coating. Surprisingly it was the best we have had compared to chip shops and other takeaways. The vegetables are also nice and the quality has improved. The chocolate fudge cake is delicious and good value for money as you receive a huge slice with 3 chunks of chocolate fudge, ideal for chocoholics. With the meals we’ve had here we haven’t had any issues and come here occasionally for family time. The only thing that could be improved is the sticky tables that we sometimes find. There aren’t many staff around to clean up after which is a pity. Other than that there isn’t much we can complain about.

Since my last visit (pre covid) this place has had a refurbishment and has been really well done. Huge beer garden at back and ample parking behind that. Didnt eat there but prices and variety of food very good. Covid wise they have a flow control through the building and sanitisers etc about the place. Will certainly go back

(Review Change.) This great pub is spacious and serves great food and beverages. Ideal for getting together and family friendy. Careful of the car park as, unuasually for pubs, it is goverened by Europarks and you have to log in your car details on the bar Ipad . Not knowing this and I did get a fine but on reporting back to the pub the staff were excellent in dealing with this and reversing and quashing the fine. Thank you.

Traditional old large pub in Childwall. Very limited beer selection, with two regular and very standard real ales on tap. Normally Doombar and an Adnams They used to have a nice, if a little bland carvery, costing next to nothing. A firm favourite among locals, and sadly now gone, leaving the question of, what’s the point of the place now? I was struggling with either two or three stars, but settled on this based on the fact that it’s nice and quiet, and a relaxing place to spend some time after work.

10th March turned up at 1830hrs cold and dark and drizzle in an unlit car park failed notice signage about parking. Enjoyed our meal must have been obvious to staff we hadn't been before. Left the pub 1945hrs no notice at the exit from the restaurant to say about parking, or around the restaurant (sign to say have you registered your car on the way out would have brought it to our attention) . Got a nice surprise 7 days later in the form of a PCN for £50. Entirely my fault for not checking but certainly tainted the evening.

Cavery was okay but no organisation behind the scenes so you always have a wait or miss out on something like stuffing or Yorkshire puds. Cath who is the hostess in the restaurant is fab, she spends most of the time apologising for the failings and cant do enough for you. This place could be a goldmine if it was better organised and the company spent a few quid making it fit for the area which deserves a quality establishment.
