A nice little break away from the hustle and bustle. Mr and my partner came here for some late night food and a couple of drinks tonight and was pleasantly surprised. For a reasonable price I had a Liverpool specialty famous Scouse which was rather tasty. My partner had the fish and chips which was also really nice portion wise for the price. It did seem very quiet and the only real downside was no normal pepsi only sugar free but otherwise it was quite a lovely building, would benefit from live music like other pubs on the same night. With a quick visit for lunch for sure. £10 for a main course is very reasonable.

Really beautiful building which was the old bank, good was very nice and reasonably priced, however it was very very loud in there. The live music was nice but it was very distracting.

A great space for larger groups thanks the the large booths downstairs. Shows the sport and has live music on Friday nights. Always something wrong on the order when you get a round in, but it's a nice space and the drink prices aren't ridiculous.

The Old Bank has a very ornate interior and when we went, it was reasonably quiet. The food was great, I had the Katsu Chicken Curry and it was delicious, I didn't stay for dessert, but the menu looked like standard pub fayre (brownies, sticky toffee pudding) you can't really go wrong with those. The only thing preventing this from being a 5 star review, is that the service was a little leisurely, not a massive issue, as we weren't in a hurry, but worth noting.

Food was lovely service was poor !! This was due to lack of staff. Staff on duty worked really hard but overstretched. So our food came out in fits & starts. One of our party was completely forgotten about, despite ordering ahead she had to wait an extra 30mins for her meal. When it finally arrived we had all finished our mains & starters.

Used to go here regularly, when it was the First National, loved it. Big pub, plenty of space to sit or stand & cheap beer. Went a few years ago after it was renovated, changed inside, for the better, bar moved to left side of pub & new booths with big screen TV's where old bar was. Prices still reasonable. Went in again two weeks ago, 1 pint of lager, 1 pint of cider £9.60! Only £3 more than Wetherspoons opposite. Shocking increase in prices & dearer than some real ale pubs in town where you pay for stronger craft ales.

Booked in nice and easy for a table for 2 people. Drinks were a little expensive saying over the road were half the price. Ordered burger with pulled beef halfway through eating a few big lumps of fat were in the middle of the pulled beef. When we spoke to the waitress they couldn't be bothered to sort out the problem very poor customer service took over 10 minutes for them to serve

Booked in for a family meal, the food came out very quickly and everyone seemed to be loving it, as was I until I cut into my pie to find it was stone cold, I told the waiter who couldn't apologise enough and had a replacement in minutes. He saved the experience from being a huge disappointment to somewhere I would consider going again.

Had a lovely evening at the Old Bank. Had pies for starter and a pie for main, they were good time pies. The manager treated us like old friends and the rest of the staff were efficient and friendly. I’ve found my city centre base from now on.

By the initial impression, The Old Bank has had quite a new refurb. Don't get me wrong, its been done to a high standard, or at least the parts that the public see. We only went on on a Monday evening, so it was very very quiet. Staff were still well presented and chatty when engaged, bit clearly quiet if you didn't want to engage. Plenty of choice on 'tap' beers and bottled too and a fairly good wine and spirits selection. They did food, but we we were only meeting up with family before moving on. Would come back, but probably closer to the weekend, as I suspect its more lively then.

Wonderful old building fitted out with modern facilities. SKY Sports etc. We ate the finest lamb chops for lunch with cheesecake for pud. Beautifully presented dishes with real vegatables. Friendly & helpful staff made it a nice place, different to the usual pub scene.

Love this place. Still has some of the decor of the old first national, but upmarketed, with some wine bar elements. Nice to sit down with friends either at the bar or upstairs, with a nice selection of food and lots of screens showing the sport.

I arranged a Reunion some weeks ago for 12th April 2013 at the First National. The Management were brilliant throughout. The party went off very well and everyone enjoyed themselves. Food was good. Staff and Management helped to a successful night. If another is arranged would definitely consider the First National. Easy to get to for people ...right next to Railway Station and buses etc
