Reviews of A Toca Restaurant
M. G.
Great food and hospitality! Authentic Portuguese cuisine and very generous portions. The seafood was fresh and delicious. There were a good selection of desserts available. The atmosphere was very genuine and friendly. Highly recommend coming here especially if you've got a big appetite. Lovely staff and an all around great restaurant.
K. P.
Very nice food, big portions and as everyone else has already said, good value for money
Nice atmosphere, it reminds me of an old-fashioned Greek restaurant from back home.
I got the chicken fillet with egg on the top, the chicken was very good. Big portion comes with chips and rice.
Forgot to take pictures of the mains, just the desserts. The Ferrero Roche ice cream was delicious.
I just can't put 5 stars, not sure why as everything was alright, it was just not as I had it in mind.
Also, we discovered later after we left that they charged us an extra cola. Mistakes can happen, it's just not nice to happen. Also we asked for tap water but they brought a bottle instead which I think they charged us too.
I think I will go again sometime, but not soon, just to try some other interesting things I found on the menu.

Had the best time on Saturday evening! Great venue which has been looked after well, along with a great selection of food & drink choices. The burgers were unbelievable, highly recommend!
The hospitality was really good as well allowing us to play an extra 30 minutes on top of our already booked 90 minutes for free. They also gave a free drink to everyone in the party at the start of the night.
Thanks for having us!
M. N.
Best octopus I tried in London!! Well presented food, tasty, good portions, I will definitely order again!
A. N.
Authenthic Portuguese food run by Portuguese folks! They are popular with local Portuguese population on this side of London. Amazing meats and fish dishes! They grill the meats without the all the elaborate seasoning and spices that takes away the real taste of the food. The Bacalau was tasty! We will definitely come back again and try other dishes on the menu. Eating there feels like you are in Portugal on a holiday! I recommend the restaurant
J. L.
Stumbled upon this place my chance, what a little gem. Family run Portuguese restaurant that looks unassuming from the Wandsworth Road but being inside feels like you have stepped into a cafe on the side streets of Lisbon. Amazing array of seafood options, with rather generous portions that absolutely stuffed. Loved the bread, pate and olives at the start. Good draught beers and lovely atmosphere. Recommend.
K. R.
Very good food, the sardines were really good. The tapas portion of pork and chips was excellent. Slightly underseasoned but nothing a pinch of salt couldn't fix. They also have some nice port available. They have a long list of Portuguese wines but we did not try these
E. K.
Very authentic. Relaxed atmosphere. Prompt service with excellent guidance and the menu, which is extensive but not overwhelming. Amazing value. Will most certainly be returning. MY companion chose the Bacalhau à Brás as a favourite dish. The water when asked for a good dish to pair and share suggested the Bacalhau à Gomes De Sá. The dishes are similar but comparing the different preparations was very enjoyable. Less than £50 including two beers and a coffee.

A well known Portuguese restaurant and as a matter of fact, a very busy one! Food was delicious, over the moon with joy! It was my first time in years that I had Portuguese food, after visiting Madeira.
Sadly, the service was very slow, so instead of a 2 hrs lunch, we ended up spending 4 hrs, mostly waiting for the staff to attend us. They seemed very dedicated people so I'm sure they can do better in the future!

Food was fantastic, wine was delicious and the service is excellent.
The price is very fair too.
We had octopus and beef also a seafood rice dish. It was just too delicious. Close to Stockwell or nine elms
S. D.
Came in on a quiet Monday night. The food portions are huge: grilled octopus and cod were to die for, steak was cooked to perfection and the cous cous just right. The service is good, professional and unintrusive. They have a very good selection of wines to chose from. This place reminds of the ones you go to when you're on holiday in Portugal.
Great night overall, my friends enjoyed it and we will return for more!!
E. M.
Amazing selection of truly genuine Portuguese food, the best I’ve been in London. Only suggestion is that the vegetarian/ vegan menu needs a bit more to choose from. Overall, a 5 star experience.
j. n.
Love ..love .. ..The customer service ..the seafood and pork belly wowcher..could sit here all day if i could afford it. Im obsessed..
J. M.
good service, good food... cozy atmosphere. thanks

My favourite Portuguese restaurant in London! Great food and very friendly staff. Bacalhau a Bras is one of my top options in the menu
C. S. M.
Best Portuguese food restaurant in London!
I only go to toca to eat Portuguese delicious cuisine .. is just the real Portugal taste !
The food is perfectly cooked!!!
The staff is professional and welcoming, topical Portuguese way!
The food is served on time ..
I have tried other Portuguese restaurants but none meets my standards (and they are very demanding) except A Toca.
The price is reasonable; the food proposition are good .
A dish + 2 bottles of good wine+coffee +dessert =around £30 per person, which is very good .
Highly recommended!
L. S. S.
Good price. Great portions. And really tasty. Service is good but make sure u make a reservation. This place is packed. Try the seafood rice for you. Grilled octopus is also really good.
M. F.
Very close to our house, we love it - our favourite local restaurant! You can experience the real Portuguese atmosphere, food is simply delicious and the wine selection is good.
D. W.
Excellent food, with a good variety of fish and meat dishes, and a great atmosphere. Efficient service from an experienced team of waiters. We arrived for lunch on a Bank Holiday when the restaurant was busy as we expected, however they found us a table and we really enjoyed our meal.
A. S.
Amazing food with great presentation. Large portions, really fresh and tasty. Also, friendly staff... Would totally recommend.👌🏻
S. A.
Great value food and drinks at A Toca. We went there with some friends and we ordered the Arroz de marisco, they brought us a massive pot with great seafood, for only £ 34. Amazing restaurant in south London!!!
C. A.
First time coming to Toca restaurant... what an amazing atmosphere. Staff very attentive and respectfull and understanding of my undecisveness at times. Really recommend for a home family feel environment.
J. M.
A fantastic place that is buzzing with diners and with good reason. The quality and variety of dishes is simply 👌 All three courses were not only faultless but special, staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely somewhere to eat with family and friends.
A. D.
Great meat and generous portions!
Love it every time more, this time we had Claudia looking after our table and she was really good even if was extremely busy! Thank you!
V. K.
Good place to have a tasty meal. Lots of options to choose from traditional Portuguese dishes. Big portions, reasonable prices. Attentive service.
N. S.
Always a good place to eat portuguese food. I like the grilled octopus, the salt cod os very nice as well but to be honest everything I've taste I've liked there
Usually very packed so book ahead.
Staff os very friendly and helpful
All types of people around and it gets a bit loud sometimes but it's all good fun.
C. R.
We are loyal customers and we never get tired of the place! The service is invariably fantastic, and so is the quality of food and drinks. Thank you so much for having us!
R. J.
Great place with fabulous staff and lovely food - octopus was a firm favourite!
F.
This was my first go at a proper Portugese restaurant and it was unbelievably awesome. Lots of food options (meat, fish, vegie...) and the waiter guided us into picking the right dishes based on what we thought we liked. The taste was on-point and customer service is faultless. Portugese football match going on too so atmosphere was electric. Paid parking on the road and you can find free parking on weekends and evenings on side roads. Highly Recommended
I. C.
Very nice Portuguese restaurant for a decent price. The food was very good, and the waiters were very kind and helpful. I had the grilled squid brochette with prawns and it was amazing. Might be better to do a reservation as it can get quite busy. I would 100% recommend.
A.
It truly felt like I was in Portugal in one of those traditional restaurants. The waiters were super friendly and welcoming, everyone was passionate in what they were doing and serving, and the dish ‘Arroz de Marisco’, which means sea food rice, was absolutely banging!
Muito obrigado!
J. d. S.
Polvo à lagareiro is my fave on this place. Sangria is a great drink to several people drink together. Service took a bit at first but we called them and everything starts to work fast enough. Really good food. The rice pudim dessert is the best I’ve had.
A. R.
The food was nice, although quite bland. The prices are acceptable. They get only 3 stars because of the service. We waited about half an hour for a table without being greet or anything. The clients that were dining next to us left because they said their food was not ready after an hour wait (and indeed, they were there before us). I might have to mention that this was on a Sunday, it might be better during the week.
M. D.
Food was amazing, I had Seabass with vegetables, the fish was grilled just right and marinated well. At the end of my meal, the dessert choices were vast. My absolute favourite is the Camelo, OMG! I am super addicted.
P. M.
As a person of Portuguese heritage the food was absolutely superb! Amazing wine from my hometown Bairrada. Great service too. Will definitely be back.
J. L.
Apparently the best Portuguese restaurant in London. I've got to taste amazing grilled octopus for a very very affordable price. I'm terribly happy. The noise level tho..... Everybody is shouting. Not the calmest place to be.
A. M.
Second time back after 1 year and the food was just as delicious as last time. Traditional Portuguese cuisine, generous proportions sizes. Great for groups including families. I would highly recommend eating here.
J.
Great authentic Portuguese food, friendly staff. Hard to choose one dish as all there is good!
M.
The best Portuguese restaurant so far! If you go for seafood- worth trying octopus “À LAGAREIRO”. It literally melts in your mouth. Cod is great as well! Accompanied with Vihno Verde and finished with Almond liqueur known as “amêndoa amarga”. Big portions, nice vibes
W. D. C.
I'm bias because I'm of Portuguese background. To me this is the best affordable Portuguese restaurants in London. There's no airs and graces here, just great food. Make sure you book or you might be in for a wait.
J. B.
Can’t rate this place enough! Cracking food, great portions, tastes fantastic, nice staff, good drinks, great value for money
L. B.
Me and my partner are Portuguese and you won’t find any better. The food is fresh, amazingly cooked and has every bit of flavor you could wish for. By far the best restaurant in London. Felt very welcomed.
Y. O.
Amazing food. Only thing is the delay... we had to sit for an hour and a half for lunch and a further 30 for a drink.
Worth the wait thought 🥰
P. R.
It’s like coming back for a couple of hours.
Proper traditional Portuguese food at a great price and locations. I would recommend to book if you have a large group.
S. R.
Went there with my girlfriend as she suggested to me cua she is from Portugal.
The place has a nice cosy feeling
The staff are very heplfull and give a varm service.
Food is amazing.
I never though the scallops was this great.
The beef was juicy and soft as butter.
Sagress is good to go witb it.
Definetly recommend it and I will be returning here for sure
E.
Huge portions, great value for money, tasty food, the desserts are outstanding too! Lovely staff as well
F. G.
The food was absolutely delicious.
No complaints whatsoever the portion sizes are great for the price.
The staff were 5stars excellent customer service.
Would definitely recommend eating here
100percent will be going back
F. R. F.
Good Portuguese food. I like specially the rice and seafood, recommend. Friendly staff.
A. R.
If you like Portuguese restaurant with a very raisonable price. And they are generous with the quantity.
A. B.
The most genuine Portuguese place I've found anywhere in the UK. Brilliant food and staff makes you feel like you're having a meal in Portugal. Will definitely come back!
K. Z.
Excellent Portuguese cuisine. Tasty food excellent service with waiters and waitress who have a knowledge of wines and wont sell you an expensive wine. Certainly one of the best !
Y. M.
I recommend to order the mains directly and especially their octopus grilled and house special rice dishes.
L.
Really good food and friendly staff. The giblets were so tender and sauce was tasty 😋
I. A.
Nice portuguese restaurante.
Very nice staff
Could do with more vegetarian options inspired by the traditional Portuguese food (such as leek a bras? Or Not-bacalhau com natas?)
D. C.
Decent food, low standards on the service.
Also, finding at the end, that there is a compulsory service charge is no fun. Paid nearly 20 pounds compulsory tip for the most tasteless service, not even a smile.
Do not recommend.
C. B.
We had a really good time. Our meals were reasonable and the price was fair actually. The Service was very good as well. The only downside was we didn't have any Music in our side of the Restaurant.
F. C.
A Toca is a tradicional Portuguese restaurant
If you like real Portuguese food this is one of the best I know so fare .
Very friendly people, with a very good prices.
M. M.
Authentic Portuguese food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Make sure you book a table in advance and go for it!
I. S.
Wonderful place warm and welcoming staff and they serve the best portuguese food ever i strongly recommend this place
N. C.
Spent the evening with some friends here. The food was really good, portions are massive and The staff was lovely!! Highly recommended!
R. P.
10 out of 10, top quality food and huge portions. Portuguese food at its best
L. E.
Absolutely amazing food as always. Reasonable price. The plans for my boyfriend's birthday party went wrong and the last minute I have to figure out the food. We had amazing dinner at the end.
W. S.
Very nice food, Recommend for gathering or meeting friends
L. S.
A busy place with very good service. Food was ordinary I thought but have never been to Portugal to try authentic Portuguese food.
H.
First time I have dined here was in 2012 . Kept going until the Pandemic in 2020 as we love the food / service and its one of the best Portuguese restaurants . Although I understand it was a difficult time for the hospitality sector I think the rise in prices is just ridiculous . A Picanha used to be around £13 max £14 before the pandemic it just went up to £18,50 ..... around 22/25% increase .... ??? We used to pay average £25 / £28 per person and now we have paid around £38/40 per person . The management is clearly trying to make up for the pandemic but Im not such high rise in price strategy will play up as desired . Not going back for sure . Wish them the best .
U. F.
Great customer service and the food was divine!! Strongly recommended!!!
F. E.
Too much olive oil on my plate but the octopus was perfectly cooked and seasoned
C. R.
I have been dining at Toca for over 15 years and this is my favourite Portuguese restaurant.
The food is super tasty and portions are amazing!
The staff are always so polite and attentive.
The restaurant / cafe / restrooms are always very clean.
Can not fault this restaurant at all, I have always received exceptional service and eaten delicious food! 10/10 for me!!
A. M.
Buzzing atmosphere and food was good - unfortunately the attitude of our waiter wasn't the best and we had to wait a while to pay then not so much as a thank you or goodbye. Put abit of a downer on the evening which was a shame. Won't be going back.
e. a.
Amazing Portuguese food and lovely service too. Popped in for lunch and was quite busy which means it’s quite popular. Plenty of seating however. The octopus was salad and actually had it as my main as the size was more than enough. Plenty of different options on the menu from fish, meat & vegetarian options too.
m. h.
Very typical Portuguese cuisine and great service!
T. W.
Great family run vibes and an amazing Portuguese menu. Fish or the steaks are best things to go for and everything comes with a decent portion of sides. They also even have Sagres on tap so would very much recommend!
E. A.
Good price, good portions and depending on the dish good everything. Thank you Atoca
R. A.
Great portuguese food and lively environment
A.
We ordered king prawns and calamari to start. The prawns were served in the shell and I felt they were over done and the calamaris were not very nice. We also ordered chicken with mushroom sauce and the chicken pieces were very dry. The lamb chops were good. The couscous and vegetables was a bit mushy and not what I had in mind. Grilled salmon was ok although it was not de-boned properly. Mains were served with below average chips and rice. The salad was ok. Overall not impressed with the food at all and wouldn't return. Our waiter was good though and overall service was fine.
D. F.
Octopus salad was great , sadinhas fantastic , espatada a bife is fantastic , big portions and the meat is of the best quality , tender and tasty. Bacalhau Gomes de sa is very good ratio of potatoes and fish is very good . I will highly recommend this restaurant and think it's best Portuguese restaurant i have been to in london. In fact it rates highly on best restaurants in london.
K. E.
Great authentic food and plenty of it. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly service, highly recommend.
A. M. S.
Food quality is very good and the price is very good aswell.
R. L.
We have been to various Portuguese restaurants and bars in the Vauxhall / Stockwell area and this one impressed us most. we had a Sunday lunch here and though it was busy the manager found us a table and service was quick and efficient. We tried the Bacalhau a Lagarteira, which was excellent.
S. C.
Great food and service !
Highly recommended.
Obrigado!
M. B.
Very very delicious Portuguese food
M. M.
Great food, great service. Will be back soon.
M. Z.
Very friendly family business. A hidden gem in west London. Fantastic meal and really big portion!
B. L.
Best Portuguese I've tried in London. Totally recommend.
C. J.
This tiny little treasure needs more recognition, food is always nice.
M. A.
Gute restaurant. Shones essen. It's worth being there. Nice ppl. The difference is so clear.
P. V.
After 12 years still think its the best Portuguese restaurant in London. Only thing to improve is the waiting time for the food to arrive to the table.
A. F.
This was one of the best meals I had in London. Amazing food. The roast chicken a d fish soup were famous. Nice helpful, friendly professional staff. A,little gem in Stockwell aka Little Portugal:)))
J. W.
Highly recommend - delicious and value for money. I came here with a Portuguese friend and we were both so happy with everything. We had grilled octopus for main, and coffee cream cake, and some light fluffy egg white thing for dessert. It was all reasonably priced and very tasty.
A. P.
The best Portuguese restaurant in London! Absolute must go
Y. L.
Great atmosphere, very good and abundant portions and good quality of food.
Careful only as a "medium" cooked meat is usually a "medium rare" and for some it might be at the limit of "rare". Next time I'd perhaps go for a well done cooked meat.
Also, they might charge you for bread, butter, olives, and other things customers find on the tables, but you can challenge that.
J. N.
Good food very nice service and friendly staff
F. S.
Very popular and I can see why. Well allocated, very friendly and the food is excellent. Don't get surprised if you are served, all the way, by the owner. I still have to test one of their dishes - Francesinha. I will definitely recommend this restaurant but, I would also advise to make a reservation to avoid disappointments. Although it got loads of tables, is very hard to get one on the spot.
J. F.
Nice little restaurant, went with Portuguese friends which was just a well as the staff's use of English a bit limited. Food good, full of Portuguese so you know pretty authentic. Don't bother if you're vegetarian though (as my partner is) as don't believe this exists in their vocabulary =0)
S. D.
A Portuguese Delight - Coming from an Italian expat! This is a great place to get good fish and meat dishes, with space to eat outside in a non busy street. The staff is wonderful and they are very helpful and create a nice atmosphere. They also do very good home made desserts.
Definitely recommended!
A. F.
Really good service. The guy was happy to serve us and very helpful with the menu. I had the mixed grill which was really good. The chicken was really good and juicy, the pork belly was nice and crispy, the steak was tender and the sausage was amazing
R. J.
Great food, fresh fish and shellfish. I recommend the bacalhau (salt cod) especially. Nice restaurant, very enjoyable meal. Waiters can be a bit impatient. But plenty of friendly, Portuguese diners willing to offer advice on what's good on the menu.
A. M.
You shall not leave hungry, the portions in this place are very generous. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes, reasonably priced and of good quality, tasty but not to die for. The ambient is pleasant and informal, the service is good but can be slow (the place was almost full when I went). Another great feature is a large selection of wines, but not being a wine expect we weren't sure what to pick, the two we actually had where not that exciting. All and all, a place worth trying at least once.
K.
Fantastic, well prepared authentic Portuguese food. Nice atmosphere and the staff - although a bit inattentive - were always pleasant and friendly. Although there are few, this one is by far the best Portuguese restaurant in London hands down and for me was well worth the trip all the way from northeast London! Looking forward to making it a regular monthly spot!!
s. b.
A large informal dining area that was comfortable enough. The mixed grill was excellent with the chicken being perfectly smokey and succulent. The Beef was also excellent, pink in the middle and almost melt in the mouth. Served with a bread basket and olives which were certainly nothing special but a welcome accompaniment none the less. They also have a small selection of bottled craft beers from Lisbon which is a welcome change from most Portuguese restaurants in London. Overall an excellent dining experience
S. L.
Another super satisfying time in A Toca!
Great service, all Hygiene and social distancing requirements observed, excellent service, but above all - food!!! Delicious, we only popped in for tapas, but the taste is second to none.
Thank you and we'll be back soon.
T. C.
We popped in for a late lunch. . . . A nice relaxed atmosphere with a friendly service.
Starter: Chourico (very tasty), pickles, olives. Good standard.
Main: Lamb cutlets. Generous portion of rice and chips served with delicious lamb chops. No complaints.
n. o.
The food very nice and very friendly service
J. C.
Amazing food! Sooo delicious... 🤤 If you want to feel that you are in Portugal, A Toca is the place! Also, very friendly service!
T. J.
Will be back. Authentic Portuguese menu. The seafood is on point but avoid the meat dishes which are lazily prepared. Deserts are brilliant.
Expect authentic Portuguese service: friendly staff but no one will check up on you; if you are ready to to order you're expected to wave someone down.
J. D.
A delightful Portuguese restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal here. Even though the place was very busy the service was good and attentive. Great prices and portions too. Will definitely be back.
p. s.
Really good Portuguese restaurant. Very tasty traditional Portuguese food, and the portion sizes are huge at cheap prices. The restaurant looks clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly. I would recommend it.
I. M.
Excellent food - as close as you'll get to eating salted cod in Lisbon! Friendly and hospitable staff. Great selection of vinho verde. Good range of prices - two can eat for £30. Been here twice now and looking forward to returning.
D. C.
Excellent family run restaurant. Never had a bad meal in there and great menu with great princes. Lovely wine list as well and staff is super friendly and helpful. My local and go there at least once a week.
L. O. B.
Service: On arrival took ages to be seated even though we had a reservation. Very busy. Was a weekend.
Food: ordered the seafood rice dish 3/10 would not personally order the dish again. Needed more flavour.
There was a starter but can not tell you what I had as I can't remember. If a dish stands out to me I would remember as I usually keep going back to the same place and order again.
Passed on dessert due to service. Was very noisey.
Would not revisit based on
above. I've been to Portugal and the food is tasty. Fish meat chicken e.t.c of course depends where you go !!
D. T.
Great Portuguese food, mostly from the grill. The menu has a lot of variety, and includes a section of tapas perfect for a early dinner with friends, all watered down with some ice cold beer. Desserts are also good and traditional. Reasonable Portuguese wine selection, nothing fancy but still better than most normally available wines at other restaurants. This is definitely THE Portuguese restaurant in London. It gets quite noisy and hot at dinner sometimes.
M. C.
Very Portuguese feel in decor and Portuguese TV being screened.
Well cooked, generous portions at a fair price. The seafood ingredients of the cataplana and clams in white wine alone would have cost a fair amount. Helpful and polite service. Relaxed visit on a weekday afternoon.
M. T.
Wonderful traditional Portuguese restaurant. Delicious and cheap. It's a place that I keep going back to. The grilled octopus is to die for. Don't expect much of the interior design, though, not that it will matter after you stuff your face with incredible meats and seafood.
J. G.
Good service and good quality food and excellent price
N. P.
If you want a taste of Portugal this is the place in London to go to. Portuguese run with a good selection of tasty fish and some meat and vegetarian dished you can't go wrong with. I personally highly recommend the grilled octopus complemented by a glass or, if you wish, a bottle of green wine...With its unpretentious atmosphere, wide selection of wines, this is the spot for an easy going Portuguese dinner night out.
R. R.
One of my favourite places to eat. Excellent food (clams, octopus and vinho verde being my go-to menu), massive portions, super casual. And yes, I ALWAYS eat the starter (you don't want it, then you don't touch it - it's the Portuguese way, get with the program :D!)
r. c.
I have visited this place many times. One of my favourite restaurants in London.
This time we waited almost 20 min to get a table (we didnt have a booking) but the problem was that the waiters didnt let us know if we would have a table in a while. They didnt come to.receive us. Restaurant was very busy as always but i think they should come and let you know how much time we would have to wait. A part from that, 100% place to go
R. W.
Seriously amazing fish! Seriously!! Boiled potatoes were stunning (who knew right?) Although chips pretty naff. The mixed grilled fish was massive too. Spent most of the time talking about how great the food was. Will be back for sure.
R. F.
I was introduced here by a Portuguese friend and alas, finally some decent Portuguese food since my trip to Portugal! From the starter of sardine gras to the traditional bacalhau a bra, everything tasted delicious despite the simplicity of ingredients. The bacalhau tasted just like the ones I had in Portugal.
C. R.
We had a lovely meal two days ago. My wife had the octopus and I had the squid, beautifully cooked and very tasty. Service was great and the restaurant was lovely inside. Throughly recommend.
M. R.
Come here for the authentic Portuguese experience. Excellent food and service, in large quantities at very accessible prices. One can indeed feel like they are in this small coastal country surrounded by this restaurant's offer. Doesn't get top rating because of distance and for the minor repairs it needs.
L. C.
Great food. Grilled squid was perfect. Pork chops were maybe a bit dry. Octopus salad was delicious - lots of onion and garlic though, beware. Picados de vaca - meant to be a tapas dish - was huge, could have been a main for two. And very tasty - beef and chips in a gravy type sauce: not what is normally order but surprisingly delicious. The vinho verde that I tried was bit sweet for my taste, but they had others - will try next time.
Prices were very cheap, considering quantity and quality - the picados was 9 and squid was 12. Service was decent, fairly fast even though the place was very busy.
Not impressive decor. But if you just want good food from a decent restaurant, visit.

Well, we went a few years ago and find ourselves going back ever more frequently, introducing the place to friends and they love it too. If you have the Arroz de Mariscos (rice with shellfish) for two you will be given a huge saucepan full of delicious rice, tomatoey sauce and lots of squid and shellfish. You won't finish it but you'll wind up taking it home and having enough to feed 4. The quality of the meats is outstanding and they are well cooked. The portions are huge. The staff are efficient and very friendly; the place is packed with Portuguese, Chinese (like my partner) and Japanese, so you know the fish is good; the wines are good if you ask for advice as they recommend the good ones rather than push the expensive ones and, unless you go very early, you'd better book. Oh, and it's great for children.

Great restaurant, amazing authentic Portuguese food just like being back home. Super friendly service with a wonderful atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough
M. B.
I had a tasty traditional portuguese steak sandwich. This was served quickly and the pieces of meat were of good quality. Lovely snack. Service was typical Portuguese : warm and welcoming.
V. C.
So happy we discovered this gem. We ordered such a variety of starters and mains. The seafood is definitely better than the meats. The octopus is just amazing!!!
R. B.
Very good food and amazing atmosphere.
D. H.
Delicious food and AWESOME service.. totally recommended!
B. J.
OOOOH WELL, WHERE DO I START?
THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY,
VERY EFFICIENT AND THE FOOD???
WELL, I HAVE NO WORDS TO
DESCRIBE THE INCREDIBLE THINGS
THAT COME OUT OF THAT KITCHEN.
THEY ARE SO DELICIOUSLY GOOD!
THE STAFF ARE EVER SO EAGER
TO HELP YOU, IT MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY
THE MOMENT THEY PUT FOOT IN THE DOOR.
THE PRICES ARE SOMEWHAT REASONABLE
AND THE PLACE IS ALWAYS PACKED.
GREAT STAFF, GREAT FOOD, GREAT RESTAURANT!!!

Best Portuguese restaurant in London, so far! Traditional Portuguese food, traditional wine and beer, very generous portions, busy but friendly environment and service. Good value for money. Recommended!
D. D. S.
Very cosy atmosphere (child friendly), the food was superb (we waited for about 25 minutes before it was served), extremely friendly staff, and perhaps most importantly very reasonably priced. Would definitely come back again and recommend this restaurant to anybody!
Well done guys!
E. A.
The lady that dealt with me was very pleasant.
D. d. P.
Essentially like a trip to Portugal. Down home cooking at family friendly prices, packed with locals and the Cataplana is sensational. Haven't had better Iberian seafood outside Portugal or Spain than here.
C. C.
Wow. What a great find. Everything I had was excellent. Enjoyed the cod, pluma iberica, padron peppers, and tuna tartar. Wish I could have kept eating as many unique flavors in each dish.I probably had more food than that, but I've forgotten so great was my joy.
S. F.
Always great food here - vibrant local Portuguese restaurant with fantastic mains, especially the enormous sharing specials (for 3/4 people, not the two like it suggests in the menu!)
L. B.
I went last Friday with 8 friends and I must say it has been one of my best experiences in London so far! Absolutely incredible seafood for a very cheap price! I particularly recommend the king prawns and the moussels in tomato sauce. I also very much enjoyed the huge and tender beef skewer. We ordered 20 starters/tapas (all of them were either seafood or meat), 2 bottles of wine plus desert (you must try the passion fruit mousse!) and only paid £24 per person. I've never seen better value for money and a very nice service on top!
V. V.
Always one of the best restaurants in London. Good choice of fish and meat, always fresh, tasty and huge portions. Friendly customer service, it's six years I know them, a friend of mine is fifteen years.
T. R.
I've been going here for 5 years and it's still the best place I found for Portuguese cuisine. Food is delicious, great value for money. Casual and relaxed atmosphere,.
A.
Proper portuguese comfort food. The service is good and the staff is friendly. Price is affordable. I had: picanha for main which was perfect; Baba de camelo for dessert which wasn't to my taste and tried their black IPA which went well with the main dish: strong and a bit sweet type of IPA. My friend had the Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa and the Passion Fruit Mousse and was delighted with his food. Tip: they have Super Bock by the draught in the bar (not shown in the menu). I can't wait to be bck and try more dishes.
C. E.
I love A Toca. It's friendly, the food is great and comes in huge portions , it won't break the bank. It's all the best bits of Portugal rolled into one. They are a bit fond of football though.
A. R.
I had dinner in A Toca few hours ago and I've been there more than 15 times. It used to be better than nowadays. I think the authenticity and quality decreased; I also don't like that some tables are charged 10% extra for service charges and others are not.
e. s. a.
I have been coming to Toca restaurant since my university days and it never disappoints. The food is fantastic and atmosphere is very authentic and friendly. Friends and family all very impressed also.
T. K.
Clams and prawns are delicious there, all food is reasonable priced, though £15 for a bottle of Casal Garcia vinho verde is a bit too much. Still highly recommend this place, the food is authentic Portuguese, would be coming back.
M. T.
I've been to several Portuguese restaurants in London and this one has the best value for money. Great and authentic atmosphere, nice and tasty food. Generous portions.
Took a friend with me and she ordered 3 portions of Arroz de Marisco for her birthday.
G. L.
Great Portuguese food and friendly staff
R. R.
Best value for money traditional Portuguese restaurant in London. I recommend their steak "a Mirandesa", huge and delicious. They also have an excellent range of Portuguese craft beers, showing they know craft breweries are booming in Portugal.
D. P.
Great food, generous portions.
P. G.
Best Portuguese in London! Incredible value for money. Excellent service
R. B.
The food was very good and the staff was impecable.
We went there to see Portugal match and have dinner which was a great idea, totally recommend 😊
In my opinion one of the best portuguese restaurants in the area. Not too expensive.
A. I.
All ways I go here ,I love it amazing menu a lot choices the food is yummy 😋 and is not expensive, very traditional Portuguese xx
J. B.
Nice cost Portuguese restaurant, popular with locals - been twice and the food was great! Will visit again.
E. M.
Very good service.
Traditional Portuguese food really well cooked.
Very nice people running the restaurant
I love the cod, outstanding!!
D. L.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. If you enjoy seafood this is your heaven. Staff are friendly and the fish is fresh. Make a reservation of you can remember, and come with a few friends and get a bottle of wine. You won't regret it!
F. i. h. w.
As the rating for that place was quite high we were excited to visit it (especially after spending a week in Portugal in April and eating lovely food). Sadly we've been a bit disapointed : the food isn't bad, the restautant looks ok and the service is nice. But it's just ok : the food is tasty but not that much (big size though) and the place is just a very classic restaurant.
B. C.
I am quite sad to say that one of my favourite restaurants in London was a complete let down today. Let's start with the silly bit... I've asked to the waiter how was the "Bacalhau Alentejano" Codfish in Alentejo style, that was one the day specials ... And the answer was "I will have to ask as I am not from Alentejo". It took 1 hour for us to get our food, and the food that normally is very good was just "meh". The Febras Grelhadas (pork) was so "overgrilled" that it felt like I was eating a rubber sole, the grilled codfish (bacalhau a lagareiro) came with 4 little potatoes as side dish, the salad that normally used to come with the mixed grill and so on... Was nowhere to be seen, and it was all a bit of a mess, the prices have gone up, and the portions are smaller than ever. So in the end I was already so peeved that didn't even got a dessert and just asked for the bill, paid and left pretty much completely disappointed that one of my favourite restaurants just went downhill. 😢 😭
s. C.
The food here was amazing and plentiful. The staff were very helpful and looked after us well. I will definitely go back
R. C.
If you are looking for this variant of European food at an affordable price then this is the place to go.
This restaurant has a select variety of seafood and meats. Staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is good.
M. G.
Always get a great meal here. Prices are great, big portion sizes and lovely staff. Not recommended for vegetarians as the menu is mainly meat and fish.
S. K.
Love this place, the food and service is always amazing
P. M.
Amazing and well confectioned food. Only for those whom apreciate one of the best foods in the world. Very welcoming and friendly staff. It's Portuguese... What else 😊
J. M.
Amazing Seafood rice! We had a portion for two and it was delicious and gigantic. Enough for 4 people to eat. Nevertheless, the food was so good that we were happy to take it home.
S. a.
Great place, tasty meals, amazing team work.
Will be back.
J. T.
First time using A Toca, it was a delivery service due to lockdown. The food was delivered in good time, the fried octopus was exquisite and overall everything was great and it was worth the money.
P. S.
Authentic Portuguese food and atmosphere. If you want to try what the portuguese food has to offer you must try this restaurant. And do yourself a favour and taste the amazing octopus. Good value for money.
A. F.
This place is the absolute go to for Portuguese food in London. You're surrounded by Portuguese and Brazilians and the service is fast and friendly. Go for the polvo a lagareiro because that's heaven...epic spot
S. S.
Good portuguese restaurant with wonderfull food. I recomend the meat and octupus. Sometimes is too crowded and the noise can bother a bit, however when you leave the restaurant your stomach gonna thank you for the quality ans quantity of the food. The price is reasonable. Must eat!
D. L.
The service isn’t the best, sluggish waiters and lots of waiting. But if you’re willing to see past that, the food is value for money. Big portions but the quality of the meat is rather poor. You get what you pay for.
J. C.
Really good on amazing food a little bit spencil but is nice
J. L.
Very nice food.
I did not give 5 star as i think they should inform customer that they will be charged for the starters they put on the table without ordering it.
I understand it is a portugese tradition..but not everyone knows it.
S. K.
Really good vibe, food's great as well. Went with some Portuguese friends who assured the authenticity of the dishes. Recommended whole hearted
V. C.
Omg is delicious!!! At first i thought prices were bit high, then i saw the portions...AMAZING!!!!! I have been there 3 times now and me and my friends simply love it! Book in advance....is very veeeery busy!
J. S.
Friendly, welcoming and excellent staff only beaten in rating by the food.
R. F.
A Toca has had better days in my opinion. The current chef is not the best. Too many sauces where they shouldn't really be used, like adding mustard to clams. Still an ok venue, but there are better options around. At the moment, I recommend Octopus (polvo à lagareiro) as a good option in Toca
S. C.
Great Portuguese food.
A. A. H.
This place is by no means bad, it just takes a little getting used to - the menu is vague, so go during slightly busier times to scope out what looks good and what maybe doesn't. Portions are more than generous and the prices are fair.
Can't complain about the service, however some staff are friendlier than others!
F. “. B.
First time ordering from here via Uber eats Value for money breakfast including a choice of coffee tea or hot chocolate.
Will be ordering again from here.
A. E.
Amazing food, excellent quality and big portions. Bacalao natas is great, Polvo Lagareiro, octopus, fantastic. Good service. On weekends is better to have a reservation.
P. N. S.
Nice offer of portugues dishes, good value for money (not cheap though). The doses are very generous. The grilled black pig was very good.
J. E.
I'm suspicious to talk about A Toca as people think that's my second home. And it almost is. Go there and try any grilled food, try the seafood rice, the "picanha", or Toca steak. The sangria is one of the best I have tried. The atmosphere, the staff the desert (try the freshly made camels drool) and when asking for your coffee (bica) ask for cheirinho (smell of grape spirit). In a nutshell, just go there!
L. R.
Good food, generous portions and friendly service.
B. F.
Great food and good atmosphere. The staff could have been a bit more attentive at times as they could be a bit difficult to get hold of despite it but being busy, but the food was worth it.
A. s. S.
Great restaurant, amazing authentic Portuguese food just like being back home. Super friendly,
R. M. M.
Place to be for Portuguese food. Really authentic and you truly feel you are in Lisbon. People watching Portuguese football all the time.
B. P.
Excellent food and very nice staff. If you like Portuguese food, you most likely to enjoy this place.
A. M.
Stands out from the competitive Portuguese Vauxhall restaurant scene, the grilled octopus is outstanding! Have recommended to my friends and they loved it too.
M. Q.
Amazing food, I keep coming back everytime and I always have my Birthday dinner here, because of the great service, it's a bit pricey but this is not just a good portuguese restaurant in London, it would be a good Portuguese restaurant in Portugal too
C. R.
Excellent food and plenty of it. The fresh bread and olives with friendly family atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
L. A.
Nice food, bit a bit pricey for what it is....
V. S. B.
Delicious picanha! All the dishes I have tried are excellent quality and amazing taste. Bacalao is really good as well. Loads of desserts choices and a good wine menu.
F. C.
Nice place . Excellent food 😋 👌 👍
R. M. D. S. F.
Slow and unprofessional service! Came inside and after 4 ou 5 waiters passed by me and completely ignored us I made my way to the table I saw empty. Tasteless, low quality food at fine dining prices! Go somewhere else! Won't be back!
P. S.
Excellent grilled sea bass, and amazing price, you'll be charged £30+ in central London for a small piece and yet here the whole fish for £17
A. A. B.
The food was good, the portions are very big and the prices are small. The only downside is the fact that the customers are very loud, so loud that i would recommend a takeaway, instead of eating in the restaurant
S. P.
The best around
I highly recommend it to all
Very good service and delicious tradicional Portuguese food .
Been coming here for years and will keep returning for delicious food.
Busy because is very good ..
S. L.

The Caldo Verde soup is as good as Ive tasted.

Casa de Benfica! Great food, great service and fantastic if you want to watch Portuguese (and especially Benfica) football.
The main course was incredibly generous and the selection of vinho verde is plentiful.

D. P.
Very nice Portuguese restaurant, serving the large Portuguese community which lives in Vauxhall. Typical Portuguese cuisine; moderate prices; friendly service.
F. C.
Great food, great service, bear in mind the Portuguese are one of the largest consumers of food per head when you visit as their portions are very large, overall amazing value for money!
J. M.
Best peri chicken in town...
Staff are warm, friendly and very accommodating. A family favourite.
A. T.
Place is OK, but the waitress seems to be really unpolite and upset, the cod was oddly without any flavour. Big shame.
C. B.
The food is very good, all staff was using masks and was space between the tables.
V. D.
Amazing food!!!!! Delicious and highly recommended for seafood lovers. Reasonable price and good service. :)

J. T.
My local (when I'm in London) Portuguese option. Not the cheapest around (some places in little Portugal on South Lambeth Road are perhaps a little better value overall), but good for sharing with friends/family.
A. G.

The chicken or beef sword are the best main dishes!! Really authentic food!
