Reviews of Albie

I would have to agree with most of the 3 star and below reviews. You cannot fault the atmosphere and the aesthetics of the restaurant, but the most important thing is the food and as a slightly high end establishment it failed to meet the standards that I expected. Having experienced the food at Eggbreak London I was rather disappointed at the two Eggbreak dishes on their menu. It did not meet the high standards at their stand alone branch in Notting hill.
We decided to get a pastry and it was nice, but was surprised how burnt it came out. Overall it was average experienced let down by the food.

Staying in the ibis Blackfriars in London for the weekend and we wanted somewhere nice to go for breakfast that wasn’t that far away, so we decided on this place and we were glad we did. Service from the staff was okay and not the best service. Just seemed slow and a little uninterested. As for the restaurant itself it had beautiful interior and somewhere you would like to sit and just chill out for a while. Would recommend this place to others it’s just the service which could be improved!

The atmosphere was relaxed, and waiting staff were so friendly. Food was delivered promptly and the portions were just right. A lovely relaxing lunch and would definitely visit again.

So I'm just gonna get this out the way first and say, if I'm honest the service was a little slow. When we came in, the staff were standing there for almost 10mins chatting and laughing and it took a few more mins to be seated. They didn't really greet us when we came is and we were told we came in the wrong door (not clearly signed)
Once we got seated, it did take a while before we were saved. The waiter we had was very friendly and he took our drinks and food order once we were ready. He was a little forgetful though, we had to ask him where our coffees were after we got our food. Besides the service being a little slow and it wasn't over busy, we did really enjoy the meal. This was brunch, once again there was a little bit of a wait, but the food was incredible! As mentioned we had to ask for our coffee, but they quickly sorted that out, and they were sorry for the delay.
All in all the experience wasn't amazing, but the food made up for it and we really did enjoy it. The venue has the restaurant, a co-working office and a hotel. The location is within a 15-20min walk from Waterloo, or 15min walk from Blackfriars. I think the service needs some improvement, but the place is really nice.

Just an overall lovely experience, from the friendly door guys when we arrived (and a lovely goodbye when we left!) to the reception team and a special shout out to Eugene I think he's a manager, we felt really special, and looked after. Will definitely be back.
We literally booked inner at 6:30pm in Albie, and I admit I was fussy - the seat we were taken to was a bit stiff ( I was hoping for a comfy sofa window one, so I asked to move and the staff and Eugene couldn't have done more to accommodate me and my friend. We were taken up in the lift to the mezzanine and settled upstairs, the bar man even came over to our table so we were treated like princesses.
The food was yummy. - we had Aubergine, a salad with halloumi and you must must must order the chips too, THE best we've ever tasted!
A lovely lively party of 40 came in around 8:30 and tbh I didn't want to leave, and wished I had dressed up more! The atmosphere was wonderful
Id love to go back - they could totally get a DJ in the mezzanine for a few hours - that would be amazing... hint hint!
We even had a check in from Eugene as we left and I will be coming again! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

We had a lovely lunch come brunch at The Albie this week. We booked a table because they have plenty of outside space on the pavement in front of the hotel. We selected one dish from the EggBreak menu and from the Hox Classics. They have enough options for vegans and vegetarians. The food was nice, staff friendly and the location is great. A good brunch spot at the weekend. I wrote an article for my blog so have posted some of these pictures fro you.

Good food. Good atmosphere. The staff need to step it up, though!
I visited Albie at the Hoxton in Southwark yesterday (a Monday) and was initially greeted by a nice lady who I assume was the host (she was stood at a stall ready to take me to my table). This lady was kind and friendly, so I was looking forward to a good evening with good service.
While waiting for my family, I sat at a smaller table and ordered a beer with my brother as we were a little early. The lady who took our order seemed friendly too, but after watching her doing laps of the restaurant, we felt we had been forgotten as it took about 15 minutes to receive our drinks (which was a simple order of 2 pints of the same beer)!
Once sat at our larger table, the rest of my family ordered their drinks which, to my surprise, arrived in good time! I even made a joke to warn them that they may have to wait a good while. However, the feeling of being forgotten prevailed as it took a long time to order our food and this was only once we asked the waitress to do so.
The food, however, was lovely! There was a good variety of vegan options; a citrusy salad, a 'meaty' burger, and a garlicky pesto rigatoni (which I also tried and was stunning!). I went for the tabouleh salad and some chips which was really refreshing, crisp and zesty. I would definitely get that again. For dessert, I had a 'Happy Ending' vegan ice cream sandwich. Again, very good. There were plenty of options for everyone!
Overall the atmosphere, thanks to the music and interior design, was up to the Hoxton's usual standards for its hotels. Always a nice and cool vibe, I would definitely go back for that. I just hope that next time the staff are a bit more attentive and don't make us feel in the way! It wasn't a huge issue as I had a lovely time with my family, but it could be improved.

JEFF is a 5 star bar tender. Very friendly. Very accomodating and I had one of the best bar experiences ever. He has given me a detailed tutorial on Corpse Reviver Cocktail and it’s not even on the menu. Excellent employee!
The overall ambiance of Albie is excellent!!!
