Reviews of Aviary
K. B.
I went to Aviary in a weekday and it was about 2pm, so fairly quiet. Really airy and fabulous interior throughout hotel. When you get to the Rooftop, it's like another world. Got a slight vintage feel to it.
Food was served to perfection and tasted great, they had really great customer service. I started off in restaurant, but then half way through was able to get into the igloos which was amazing. It took my experience to another level. It was great having the view and the privacy of eating in the igloo pod.
Igloos will be around until April, so I'd strongly recommend going there and eating inside. They are well heated and they provide blankets.
Great canadian waitress named Laura, who had such a great energy about her. Sophia was lovely too.
I'll definitely be coming back!

This was such a spectacular restaurant. The quality of the food was incredible but the best feature of the restaurant was the atmosphere, for sure. Very classy but young at the same time. The rooftop was lovely as well, I'll be coming back in the summer. Probably one of the best rooftop restaurants I've seen so far.
Staff was incredibly helpful and polite as well.

Had a wonderful time in these cozy igloos situated on the 10th floor. Excellent service provided by all the staff members. We had to pre book the igloo for the day. The igloo is available for 2 hours. There is a special jungle theme menu. The snacks were delicious. I would definitely recommend to try out their cocktails. It was totally an amazing experience and worth the price.

Fantastic experience! The dinner pods were perfect for a special occasion and had the privacy, luxury and most beautiful views.
The food was delicious and the staff were friendly, kind and knowledgeable.

Lovely experience. Fantastic food, excellent service from Alex. Fairly pricey, but you are paying for the exclusive view. Highly recommended for a family event meal or romantic experience for 2.

The Aviary -
Positives:
- Excellent food, the beef was particularly nice
- Friendly, kind staff
- Cocktails were lovely and they were happy to help
- Fantastic location and view
- Enjoyed the restaurant decor
Negatives:
- The staff got a few of the plates mixed up (I.e. wrong starter). Think they could've done with a better system. This was rectified as quickly as possible though which was good.

Great venue shame about the food.
Beautiful spacious rooftop in the middle of the city with fabulous views. The music and atmosphere was great for an evening with my girl mates.
We started off with aperitifs (mine sans alcohol - they have a regular selection of soft drinks but easily whipped up a mocktail) and enjoyed the atmospheric views of the skyline and city skyscrapers as dusk fell. We were fortunate to have visited on a mild summers evening.
We also had a booking for late dinner, and were very grateful that they were able to bring our booking forward when we become hungry much sooner than expected.
The food was beautifully present but really lacked any real flavours. It was poorly seasoned, bland and the sides somewhat greasy.
The service was great, the staff were friendly, cheerful and eager to please. Just such a shame about the food.

With an amazing view and central location in London, this is one of the best restaurants to enjoy a meal. I loved the winter pods on the rooftop. Awesome.
J. P.
I loved my whole experience at this restaurant, we sat in one of the igloos, I loved the fact that even if it was winter the igloo was well heated and we were not cold. Also Trish was amazing she took care of us from the time we got there to the time we left, the food was amazing my mum complimented the steak, I had the chorizo and sweet corn croquettes as a starter, I would highly recommend and salmon and prawn fish cake for my main it was okay. The staff are very respectful and not in your face. The view is amazing I also liked the fact that the meal wasn’t rushed we were there for 3hrs. Thank you
C. H.
Great for special occasions! Great food, drinks and service. The view is to die for and definitely recommend being camera ready. They were able to cater for my vegan and gluten free dietary needs.

Had a fantastic meal here last night. It was very busy, but our waiter was great. He never wrote anything down, but he had an impeccable memory and remembered everything we ordered, including who ordered what.
The sea bream was beautifully cooked, lovely and flakey but with a crisp skin. The Granny Smith apple mousse crumble stole the show though. We were amazed at how it was even made, as the mousse was a delicate green on the outside but a creamy white colour inside. Amazing!
Would definitely recommend!!

Worried about going out due to covid but still want to be able to go to a restaurant/bar? Then these igloos are perfect for you! Friendly staff and delicious tapas style food in the igloos. Only unfortunate thing is the outdoors closes at 10pm so you’ll have to leave your igloo and go indoors. You get a two hour booking for the igloos so make sure to make the most of it!

Everything is right here. Excellent menu sequence, suitable wines and friendly service. I would love to come back. Nice atmosphere. Very good quality. Thank you for a great evening!
E. B.
Nice pods and comfortable temperatur. The steak tartare was delicious. The other small plates were small... Service was nice when you could get hold of one. Some kind of notification system in the pod would have been useful- like in an airplane. Service was however lacking inside too.
w. b.
Excellent. Our igloo was nice and warm. Had the set menu of starter of Salmon tartar, Mains of Chicken & crushed new potatoes and Sticky toffee pudding to finish. The waiter was helpful too.
P. S.
Really nice hospitality and cosy glass igloos... we relished the snacks and drinks.... desert was such a sweet gesture. Loved it.

Me and my fiancé was here over the weekend for our Anniversary/Valentines, and had a lovely meal at the aviary. We was warmly welcomed and very well looked after by the manager Feri and a lovely gentleman called Simone. Cocktails was on point. The attention to detail and customer service is amazing. Thank you very much guys and hopefully see you soon.

I visited Aviary with 12 guests for my birthday, and booked 2 dinner Igloo's. I cannot recommend this experience enough. The venue were kind enough to answer a lots of Q's beforehand, ensure our igloo's were side by side, and accommodate our food intolerances.
The dinner igloo's are on their own private balcony away from the top floor bar - so my group had a large balcony area all to ourselves! This was great to freely move around in between food courses so we could all chat. FYI, book the 5:30 slot to watch the most stunning London sunset.
The staff were incredible, kind and so attentive, always making sure we had drinks. The food and drinks menu were reduced for the pods but we still had more then enough options for ordering. I ordered the Oysters & Sea Bass and they were both SO delicious.
This the perfect venue for a smaller private dining unique experience in London. Myself and my guests had a fantastic night, and we all would love to return. Thank you every member of staff at Aviary.

Saturday night was amazing, we sat outside on the terrace and enjoy the view and the good weather, the food, and the service were beyond expected by Alex and Sofia.
We moved inside later on and enjoyed the night environment.
Thanks also to the manager Fari.
High recommend!!!

My friends and I came here on such a lovely sunny day. It was hot in the pods but still a great experience. We only had 2 hours to chill in the pods which went by super fast. We felt kind of rushed, but based on the food alone I would highly recommend this place.
We had quite a lot of starters and that was enough to fill our tummys and feel good! Additionally I bought my son along he is only 5 months so I had to hold him, there was no way I could bring my stroller but that didn't deter me from having a great time. IG: @lisaedunsin & @wherethefoodtho

I went here with a friend on Saturday 19 June to celebrate my birthday. It's a popular place and had to book a month in advance. I now know why it is so popular, the ambience and atmosphere was relaxed, chilled and welcoming. All the staff were super helpful and always did it with a smile.
We had the bumblebee cocktails went down very well, highly recommend trying these. The food was amazing, I had the seared tuna and sea bass as my main. The thing that made it though was the service, our waitress was fun and if she didn't know the answer to our questions she found out. We were genuinely sad to leave there but we had a booking elsewhere.
One tip, the dress code is fairly strict and security turned people away that had scruffy trainers.
L. C.
Great rooftop igloos, your own private space. Food was delicious & staff very friendly. Highly recommend.
R. A.
Fabulous rooftop igloos and great staff attending those and we loved the rooftop bar after our igloo. The staff in the downstairs bar were awful so not the best finish to what was a great day.
R. A.
We have been here twice now.
The first time was great, good drinks, good food, relaxed, great service. We were in one of the pods attached to the restaurant. The only issue was the igloo was too hot in the August sun but the staff took care of us until it cooled a little and we moved into the igloo to eat.
The second, more recent visit was not so great. The food was good and a good selection of drinks, especially cocktails. Unfortunately the dinner was not ready when we arrived and this ate into it 2 hot time limit! I then had to go looking for waiting staff after 35 minutes to place an order for drinks. Similar issue with placing the food order. All led to a rather undignified turfing out as soon as we finished eating. Not the kind of relaxed experience I was looking for when taking the family out at Christmas.

This Restaurant is truly fantastic!! We enjoyed all of the food we had and the prawns feels like eating Cloud . The beautiful Alexandra was really great to us and she made us feel absolutely welcomed . She was particularly concerned about the noise being too loud for our daughter and just wanted us to be comfortable . She’s awesome!!
J. D.
Great views over London - great spot to have a group dinner too. We went for a friends birthday and whilst slightly on the expensive side, it was a great evening out. Food was gorgeous and they have a nice selection of cocktails!
The outside terrace is a lovely touch for the summer months too - smoking is allowed but you might want to book for a table as it can get very busy!
C. B.
The pods are amazing. Great views. Service a little slow and expensive.
M. O.
This was meant to be a review a about a month back. For some reason. Google got it confused.
Absolutely stunning setting, amazing views from the roof top over St Paul’s Cathedral at night.
Staff were super friendly from the entrance on ground floor up to the roof top.
Knowledgeable and knew exactly where the birthday table was.
Never had time to eat but really good cocktails.
L. D. F.
I been there for my birthday with my girlfriend, they gave to us a place to seat at the bar and after when we ask if we can move to a different table the waitress was a bit annoyed but luckily the other guy ask us to seat outside if was fine for us.
We ordered some cocktails and was ok .
I left 5 star for the skyline
C. P.
Fantastic views! Well worth a visit, we enjoyed it so much we went twice over the weekend. Highly recommended. 🍸
C. M.
Amazing night at the Aviary. The outside iglu pods are just stunning at night and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to show off how lovely London can look at night.
Highly recommended and will be back in future!
C. B.
Lovely rooftop in Shoreditch, very trendy with great views. I do suggest booking as they tend not to have availability for walk ins. There's an inside restaurant with a medium sized roof terrace. The staff are lovely and have great customer service! And they have the best cocktails I tried out of the 5 locations near by. X
S.
Up market bar with a great spot to look over London. Spacious rooftop with a wide selection of drinks. Would be good to see some more bar snacks on the food menu.
T. A.
Came here for my birthday in the Rooftop igloo. Views were really nice and Luca our waiter was amazing. He was so attentive and really made it an enjoyable experience
J. M.
Had a good meal with my wife. The decor is dominated by dark colours as is the case with the rest of the hotel. Paid £92.00 for main course and desert plus a beer and juice.
C. C.
Amazing views, shuts too early that's even I you can get a seat.. no spaces even when there are other weather proof terraces available when raining.. maybe a good point to use the umbrellas that are already in place.. staff are friendly but seem to give special treatment to some guests.
E. E.
I had a lovely afternoon. The ambience is calming. The place is beautiful. The bartender was a wonderful gentleman who suggested cery tasty cocktails. I would highly recommend.
K.
Located on the tenth floor of the Royal London House, the view was spectacular, especially during sunset. The food and drink was spectacular (I recommend the pork belly), worth the price. Make sure to check today's specials, as the dessert was sublime. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and do their best to make your visit comfortable. A bug had flown into my red wine and a lovely waitress had replaced the glass and wine (with a slight top up!) Free of charge.
Overall, an excellent choice for a dinner out in London.
H. P.
We had a lovely vegan meal & starters here last night, beautiful wine & delicious cocktails! The evening was topped off by our amazing waitress Alessandra, she was the most friendly & professional waitress we’ve ever had. She was simply amazing. A true credit to your company. A wonderful evening with wonderful service. A very happy Heather & Scott
B. K.
Was beautiful, staff were lovely, food was excellent and cocktails were outstanding thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely visit again
D. A.
We had a good time in Aviary, the service was friendly and helpful. It took a long time between the starters and the mains. We enjoyed the steak tartare but unfortunately, the steak and the risotto weren't good enough for the kind of restaurant you're going
P. I.
This place is quite good, but not a great for the price.
And they also show reluctance to improving. There are numerous reviews that mention the chewy duck and the duck was really chewy (so much so they brought a steak knife as cutlery).
Overall it's got potential but execution is poor.
None of the staff wore masks, which I find a bit reckless given they are the main interaction point between all customers.
J. P.
Rooftop has a nice atmosphere, and views of the shard in the distance. The pods gives this place a unique touch. Bar offers a good selection of drinks. All finger food / starters were decent, fusion of different cuisines. Would recommend a visit here at least once. No Dress Code.
T. R. J. (.
Because of its location on Finsbury square, on the edge of the city by Moorgate, you get an amazing view of the city. The place is beautiful and the view at night or day, just stunning. A real good feeling about the place
R. P.
Was it the joy of being out for drinks with special friends for the first time in a while? It certainly helped but everywhere I looked there were smiling faces in the foreground and fascinating skylines beyond. Aviary are certainly doing something right to spread the joy around.
C.
Staff were lovely, really helpful and nice. The margaritas are very well made. The food was decent but I would have expected better for the calibre of restaurant. For example the steak was cooked perfectly but the peppercorn sauce was completely tasteless. Overall I’d go back and hopefully get to try out the terrace, it was a bit rainy when I visited but the restaurant’s interior and views made up for it!
J. B.
I brought my mum to Aviary mainly for the view. We were really happy to enjoy our drinks outside on the sofa, felt like at home with heater and blanket. The staff was really really nice (I insist) the French guy with the braid at the bar and the French waitress just made our day! The food was really well presented and nice. I didn't like everything but maybe I should have choose something else. The tuna was really good my mum liked the salmon and her desert. I recommend Aviary for peoples who wants to impress with the location (decoration, view) and have a nice dinner.
r. k.
We were placed on the treetop igloo. It was a very pleasant experience.
The drinks were refreshing and amazing.
Snacks were filling and delicious. Our host, Sophia, was warm and very accomodating. Loved the hospitality.
M. H.
I think the food was delicious and the staff was lovely. The only thing was that the portions were quite tiny, I went home and ate instant noodles. And there wasn’t much of a view to look at from where we were seating, it’s more the feeling of eating outside without being cold, but can’t expect to have a night view
r.
Came here for a birthday lunch and it was alright. Don’t think I would come back solely for food but definitely would again for the views on a warm sunny day. All staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Only issue is the mens toilet is awkwardly positioned, where if the door opens.. anyone walking past gets a view of the urinal.. and anyone standing there.
R. G.
Only worth the hype if you get to book the igloos parked outside. If not, it's just your run of the mill resto-lounge facing concreted abstractions of buildings, with good and attentive service staff. Hope this helps, cheers!
D. K.
Very pretty restaurant, good that they have Vegan options but the Vegan mains were very average. Friends had fish/ meat and said this was very good.
K. N.
Visited the bar in the evening on a Saturday so it was fully booked and only had space at the bar. The atmosphere was decent, I'm sure better for the folk in the transparent globes on the rooftop. Enjoyed a mid Long Island Ice Tea, and exited stage left.
G. K.
Cocktails are nice and music was good but it was expensive and the service wasn’t very good. We managed to get the attention of someone 25 minutes after being seated for our booking. It was quite difficult to get served for subsequent drinks.
A. S.
Decent view, nice cocktails. Food was mixed- the courgette with goats cheese mouse and quinoa was great. The calamari was tough and a bit cold. The service was awful - I had to order a couple of things twice and like the bill, they just never showed up so after more than half an hour we gave up and went to the till to pay
A. G.
Excellent service. Beautiful evening & views. Great food. Our waiter went with the flow.. My brother mistaken his name for "Sébastien" (actual name Alex).. He was helpful, kind, funny... His sport...
M.
Lovely time had here for a friends 30th! Really yummy starters which we ordered a bunch of and shared among the group. I would have liked them to be bigger/ more of (I was still hungry afterwards) but it was a delightful first stop for the birthday girl. We had booked our table in advance and had no problems being seated. Lovely decor and felt like a real treat being there. Hope to visit again soon.
A. K.
A good rounded rooftop restaurant.
Well furnished, with good views, decor, after work feel and casual dinning, wine list had interesting portugués wines, with most classics, champagne list was drab, with sparkling showing off better. Pleasant service. Surprised by no table umbrella for shading outside in hot sunny weather. Good just not great!
H. S. L.
Had a work event there, pre-booked or ordered the drinks plus food. Staff was attentive, drinks were nice and the food amazing. However even though we pre-ordered food the last item didn't arrive until nearly everyone has gone home! Which was a huge waste, also the food came out later than when we asked for.

I have to say the experience was really impressive. I have been to many of the best hotels in London like Claridges or Ritz but the Aviary really delivered. My honest feelings when I first booked was apprehension as 2 Asian men. But the reception from the two women was superb so friendly and engaging. This was at 7.30pm booking on Wednesday. Alex the bar staff was a real credit knowledgeable , friendly and felt like we had a personalized service. True 5 star standard. David the curly haired bar specialist who created us great cocktails gave us such a great experience we can't thank enough for creating a great experience. Even the bouncer Ibrahim was very polite as were the other bouncers. I would definitely recommend booking a table. All I would conclude is this is a 5 star hotel dress well treat the staff with respect and you will get a amazing experience so much so my friend said he wanted to hire the place for his engagement party in the future.

I attended the 2018/19 NYE party here and have also visited since then, for brunch. The views over central London are great and they have a massive roof terrace to enjoy those views, weather permitting. The prices for food and wine are pretty reasonable taking into account the central location and the relatively high standard of service. The menu isn't especially adventurous and I think they missed a trick here because the stylish decor and upscale atmosphere raises expectations beyond the standard of what is actually served. I would return but I would be more excited to visit if I learned that they were launching a new concept for their food / drinks menu.
A. C.
Went for drinks and dessert, service was incredible and on a fairly busy night as well. View was amazing at night and great for pictures!
A. M.
I had a nice experience the view was amazing. The staff was kind .But my favourite was the cocktails .Top 🤩🤩🤩
E. A.
Good meny with great comfort food... stunning roof top view. Perfect for a business lunch or shopping break...
S. G.
Great for rooftop drinks. Restaurant was nice and staff friendly, burgers are only cooked well done. We were celebrating two birthdays and restaurant was advised when booking. Only when we left we noticed another table had received a birthday dessert plate, wish I had seen that before and would have asked for this!
K. F.
A memorable night on the rooftop, for all the right reasons. From the moment we walked up the stunning glass staircase, past the larger-than-life suspended birdcage, we were treated as guests in someone's home. For pre-dinner drinks, Julia escorted us to the personal, glass igloos on the terrace, which was a pleasant surprise (complete with champagne) and for dinner, we had a cozy table next to the floor-to-ceiling windows, so we had a view of all the action. Our server, Giresse, was friendly, attentive and personable, providing us with great recommendations for our courses and drinks. Now to the food: the duck parfait was a revelation, the sirloin was perfectly cooked and dessert were surprising treats of chocolate ganache and a re-interpreted apple crumble. We thought we had had enough, when the final surprise was a Happy Anniversary selection of sweets to top off the experience. The music in the background is more club than lounge, but kept the energy high. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion. Kudos to the staff!
M.
The restaurant was so lovely, really romantic and beautiful atmosphere. The food was delicious although the portions are kind of small but definitely great quality and flavor. It was my fiancés birthday they brought out a lovely pecan cheesecake it was so delicious I loved everything about this restaurant. Definitely recommend it for romantic dates or birthdays and celebrations.

We dined our first Christmas Eve at Aviary roof top restaurant. What a lovely place with wonderful view of London City. Service was great. The food was stunning. The Chef is for sure a genies, the crispy taste of his steak and combination of Artischocken, Pilz, Apple on my Peterhead cod made a Aviary for us memorable.
O. W.
The views are fantastic, and the cocktails were top class - all had a small twist on the usual recipe that made the experience feel really bespoke, and the flavours were great! The only thing letting this place down was the service - some of the waiting staff were not particularly attentive, meaning we were sat at our table without being asked what we wanted for 15 minutes, followed by another 20 minute wait for drinks (the one lady that was working on thr day we went was fantastic however, unfortunately I can't remember her name for this review). Even so, the views were great, the atmosphere was very chilled, and the drinks were lovely when they arrived, so I would still recommend trying it out (just maybe don't book anything immediately afterwards, as you may overrun at the Aviary)
L. I.
Really lovely place to go in the summer for their terrace outside with gorgeous views.
The signature drinks are very nice but service may take some time to get around which is not very pleasant.
R. C.
Be warned there's a dress code but a great vibe and beautiful views from the rooftop, I got room service for food as there was no availability and the food was delicious !
ʙ. ᴄ.
Had a lovely three course meal at the Aviary! Food was very nice although my main did come out luke warm and we had to remind the waitress a couple of times. I always enjoy staying at Montcalm Properties so I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed with Aviary at RLH!
A. v. B.
Came for food and drinks on a sunny day and absolutely loved the views!! You can step out onto the terrace on nice days and take in great city views. The inside is quite chique as well and the food enjoyable.
B. C.
So delicious! Whoever cooked the pork belly needs a kiss because that was beautiful. So soft on the inside with a lovely crackling. No pictures as I was too busy scoffing.
The cocktails were also to die for. Such a variety and some I’d never even dreamt of before. Our server gave us one to taste, on the house, not surely entirely what it was called but it was sweet and whiskey based. We had a fabulous night
L. B.
Really nice and quite rooftop
Perfect for brunch and a nice cocktail in the morning
I. M.
My Girlfriend booked an igloo for my birthday, had such a great time. Alex looked after us so well
Z. F.
Beautiful decor, excellent customer service, delicious food and a diverse selection of cocktails - would highly recommend the flamingo riff. Would definitely return!
J. C.
Late lunch at the Aviary with colleagues, staff are super efficient & friendly. Food are served in big or small potions, ideal for sharing. Thorougly enjoy that.
J. L.
I get what they are trying to achieve with this place but they sort of missed the mark. We were here on a sunny Saturday afternoon and when you first walk in, you're immediately impressed. You get Chicago rooftop vibes; beautiful decor in an open room with floor to ceiling glass windows showcasing city views. Things fall apart when it takes 25 mins to get a drink. The place was severely understaffed for the capacity. 2 overwhelmed bartenders struggle to make drinks as fast as possible with a crowds of people clamoring to place orders. You will spend more time waiting than actually enjoying the place. Lastly, food was just ok.
A. S.
Ok.. So the place in general is really decked out well, clean and decorated really well, the toilets are clean amd tidy, now the food👌 we settled on the set menu, and cant complain, presented as expected, and tasted really nice, portion size was good and waiter service was really good, would i return.... Yes i would on looking around everyone seemed happy and enjoying the experience.. Well done, keep this up and you wont have any issues with people returning... 👍
N. S.
Amazing food!!! And ambience! Staff were really nice too!
S. L.
I went to a private birthday party on one of the rooftops. The views were great, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the canopies were really tasty (mini fish and chips were my favourite). Nice venue.
A. G.
"Sébastien" aka Alex (brother thought that his name was Sébastien).. And he just went with the flow.. Plus, he gave excellent service letting us know of the times to order, helping with a dish that was not cooked properly.. Made excellent suggestions.. It was an excellent meal and evening..
J. C.
Nice spot to take clients for lunch with great views over the city. Well-cooked, refined (but not too fussy) food with a decent wine list. Would highly recommend.
J. N.
Fabulous experience at The Aviary, special mention to the staff, a credit to fantastic customer service, Katie was a superstar! All very attentive and professional. Food, drinks and ambiance all perfect.
C. S.
We visited here during London cocktail week and was not disappointed. Great cocktails accompanied by fantastic views of the city.
R. D.
Had a lovely waitress in the Aviary, her name was Alena. She was very hospitable and patient; recommended cocktails and dishes.
Views outside was amazing. Pity it's COVID or we could have stayed longer although outside was a little windy.
K. E.
Had a nice time here - Friday night drinks with colleagues.
Rooftop bar has a great view (especially at night) with heaters for when it gets chilly. The prices for the drink are a bit on the 'peak' side but with the view and the decor you get - it's forgiveable.
Would recommend a visit with a group of friends/family, if you're in the area.
B. W.
The cocktails were deliciousand well presented, but the service was incredibly slow and they could do with better heaters in the igloo, it was freezing!
S. P.
Me and my partner had dinner for my birthday at the beginning of June. It was an amazing experience due to our waitress Kim who was absolutely awesome, professional, friendly and helpful. I'm very glad we were served by her.
Food was great and the ambient was stunning. The only let down was the terrace closing quite early, we couldn't even go out to enjoy a drink after dinner or to take pictures
B.
Amazing bar/restaraunt with excellent views of the City ❤!
Wonderful food too from a well selected menu as well. The Spring & Summer months must be chock a block in a venue like this for sure.
Great service from the Waiting Staff too, couldn't find much to fault if any 🙌🍽.
I. O.
Really nice atmosphere with a roof overseeing the London City sky line. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There are also tables outside on the open roof which costs a little bit more. Highly recommendable for birthdays and anniversary parties ❤️

contemporary feel and a very nice atmosphere, with good food to match!
Visited for my partners birthday we had booked for the Terrace but soon retreated to the restaurant inside due to the heat and not having Parasols available (only umbrellas?). This needs to be addressed in my view as it was a shame we could not take advantage of the fantastic weather.
I would still recommend as the food was tasty, with very good service and the atmosphere was there.

Just got off a long flight and decided to grab dinner at Aviary. I was not disappointed! I had the deer for dinner and the cheesecake for afterwards, both very delicious. The deer was cooked perfectly and the pear complimented it well.
Great service tonight! The staff were very attentive to what I might need/want. After dinner, I went outside on the terrace (its a rather chilly night). Quite a gorgeous view of London!
C. S.
Super nice Location with extraordinary good food. A 25£ 3 course menu with a glass of wine !! Super delicious and good price quality ratio. The rooftop terrace has glass balls where you can have drinks in a wonderful location with beautiful view.
C. S.
This was my first restaurant in london.this rooftop restaurant and bar was the most amazing place to go eat in London.it has nice views and lovely coppa bar outside.it was not so busy by time we were there so we had a quite a nice and peaceful time.thw staff were so helpful and nice 👍.our waitress was a young beautiful girl.she can even speak Italian which was super good also.shw did super good service.ahe even recommended me to try some chicken breast menu which was so good but to little.oh guys please you should try their sticky toffee pudding, cramelised apples and marshmallows.Mmmmmmm the taste was like Santa maria 😂.make reservations before you go please.
R. A.
Had a business meeting here, This restaurant is.on the roof top had pods outside which provide privacy along with spectacular views. A nice trendy place to have semi casual business meetings, or even take your partner for romantic drinks before a big night out to set the right mood for the evening.
J. C.
My favourite rooftop restaurant in London. Beautiful views across the city. Great cocktails and service from their staff.
S. M.
Amazing rooftop in the middle of London, great food and drink!
G. L.
Pimm’s, white wine were super good.
Great view, great music and great people!
Quite hard to get there, But the place is so good :)
N. A.
The Aviary is a very beautiful restaurant with nice views and a cosy atmosphere.
However I was not too fond of the food. It was a nice experience though!
R. H.
Very nice igloos , most of the food was very nice ( especially desserts ) , however they ran out of the specials and there was a bone in chicken breast. Staff were helpful and professional.
R. R.
Great place, drinks and service. Alexandra looked after us and gave us an excellent service. I will be happy to come back.
M. B.
Nice 80s bar for out-of-towners. Good view over the square.
O. O.
Fantastic place. Stylish with a very indulgent terrace. Great drinks selection at the bar. Loudness volume is just perfect to also have a conversation, but you have the jacket, the terrace is ideal for this. Can't recommend it enough...
G. W.
Fantastic venue, rooftop drinks in an igloo for my girlfriends birthday.
T. G.
Came here for the amazing Rav Bansal mother's Day afternoon team I can say without doubt that this was the best afternoon tea that I have ever had. The fenugreek scones are a total revelation and the lychee entremet was the lightest I've ever had. I cannot recommend it enough. The view is also brilliant!
F. C.
Phenomenal views from the rooftop bar and well presented and executed dishes. Enjoyed the blackened cod entree and yellowtail tuna starter.
C. M.
The igloo was nicely decorated with flowers and fairy lights. The heating made it nice and warm. The staff was lovely. The food was great too. The plant based desert was delicious (dark chocolate cheesecake).
A. M.
The aviary and the cocktails were very delicious me and my work colleagues got a number of nibbles and while we waited which was good. I'm on a day that we chose to attend the Avery and there was to work events which meant that the upstairs deck was very busy and that we had to queue to get to the outside deck. The bar and there was a bit of a way I believe my colleagues waiting 20 minutes to be served. As the cocktails were very intricate and they're making some of them and that also took a bit of time to be creative. The reason Deco at the Avery were very nice and modern all the staff were very clean in their terms of presentation in terms of their clothing and the way that they look and spoke to the public.
M. S.
• Staff on the day, fantastic
• Igloo, warm and cosy. Although, the high chairs are uncomfortable.
• Igloo booking could be longer but I understand quicker turnaround makes money.
• Cocktails, wonderfully strong and wonderful taste!
• I would definitely return.
s. s.
Stunning Igloos with amazing view a bit price and there is a 100£ minimum spend per igloo. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful
J. A.
Lovely venue and view but this cocktail was disappointing :(
S. G.
Nice place. Some of the staff were extremely friendly, some less so. The food and cocktails were great. The place had a nice atmosphere and the rooftop terrace was nice. The stuffed birds were a bit jarring though!
h. h.
Really amazing view, great drinks BUT on a Thursday evening it was so crowded could barely move and they were making us queue to go into the balcony and wouldn’t let another member of our group out due to numbers. Just make sure you book a table!
D. D.
Food is lovely. We had a pod for two hours. Our starters came prompt however our mains order wasn't taken till our starters were cleared which meant a long wait in between which meant we were asked to leave our pod as we'd run out of time having our desserts in the restaurant. In the restaurant there is little to no social distancing, tables of more than six and masks for staff well some did, some didn't, some had them on their chin and curiously the majority had exemption badges...I'll leave you to come to your own conclusions.
V. *.
Great food and service but indoor space not as spectacular or vibey than expected, maybe outdoor area a bit more special but it was closed
D. Z.
Nice venue but not overly impressed with the quality of care, service, attention and communication given to non-staying hotel guests. Had to raise issues with staff which only got resolved after asserting myself. Could do much better.
A. L.
Went with a few colleagues from work. Good food and a fantastic view from the top. I think this would make a great dinner & drinks date location.
P. D.
Nice location, decent views and attentive staff. Limited selection of drinks (really limited!) but hoping that is a temporary issue
M. B.
Roof top bar with views over Finsbury Square and the city. Has pods outside for inclement weather. More sesting inside where you can also eat.
C. C.
Was a pleasant surprise. Cocktails are good, food is also pretty solid and the service is not behind in any way. Enjoyed my time there and it's very likely that I'll be back!
F. B.
Amazing food , great service, slightly under cooked dauphinois.
C.
Went here for a ladies night to celebrate a birthday and had the loveliest time! We wanted to stay longer, and so booked two igloos - one for dinner, and another afterwards for drinks. The food was lovely, and the views of London are fab. The igloos can get chilly, but there are blankets and heaters inside. The highlight of the night was definitely our waitress Sofia - we wish she could've joined us! Very charming and attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. There was also another lady from Spain on site (sorry forgot your name!) who was also lovely, and very accommodating. Thanks Sofia! xxx
R. F.
All style and no substance, least for us. The place is well decorated, great atmosphere but the food was disappointing for us. We had previously booked to come here last year, but had to cancel due to covid. The starters seemed fine, if anything set us up for what we thought would be great mains. We ordered drinks, but they didn't arrive until after our starters were delivered. I'd ordered a red wine, but a white arrived. At this point I was just grateful to have something to drink... The mains were lack luster. The homemade mayo that arrived with the ketchup with the fries was more like spread, to the point I had to ask if it was accidentally butter they gave me.they assured me it was thick as it was homemade.either way, spread or thick homemade butter, not the kind of thing you can dunk a frie into. My partner ordered the miso pork belly. It had been pan fried. But the bottom was burnt and the fat neither rendered or crispy. Again we let them know and was just told that people prefer it that way... all in all, I would return for drinks. For the price point, if you're foodies likes myself and my partner, there are better places to eat in London.
S. S.
Lovely roof top bar...the staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive we really enjoyed it. The only downside was we only had a table for 2 hours, but glad we went. Well done to all the staff.
F. G.
Unsure if we would return - the photos online make it look luxury but when you get there its a tiny terraced area with a few tables with no music or atmosphere. Male who seemed to be the manager was rude and made everyone feel uncomfortable. All staff advising different things - seemed a bit unorganized but drinks are reasonably priced and is ok for chilled afternoon after shopping but not for a birthday or if you are looking to an atmosphere.
O. W.
Visited for a lunch for a very special birthday. Originally booked a big table but as restrictions were extended we had to split our table into two but we were right next to each other and it was totally fine. The restaurant were really accommodating, service was great and food was really good! I'd definitely recommend and will visit again.
L. M.
Has the best server Kim! She was so attentive and brought us enough dessert to share on my birthday! Bartender was ace.
G. K.
Aviary is a really nice bar/restaurant, depends what you are wanting. After work drinks here are great and they have a vast variety of them.
The terrace is magnificent with the best view in Moorgate for sure. Get there early or reserve a table to ensure you have the best of times. IF not, you will still have a good time just not where you can put your drinks.
Staff are really great.
D. W.
Great outdoor terrace with stunning views (of Finsbury Square) but there can be quite a long wait at the bars at peak times. Could do with more staff behind the bar.
W. G.
It's ok, touristy. Music abit too loud, rooftop bar crowded with instagram chasing millenials, this is their main draw. Food is ok. Not for special occassions.
Y. C.
Super slow service
View is ok, not impressive, sky garden is much better.
R. V. (.
Went here for a friend's birthday party, the igloos have a special cosy feel. It was a cold rainy evening but the igloos are warm and the view of the city is amazing. I don't drink alcohol but the staff were willing to make any of the drinks into mocktails which was nice, and we also had some snacks like houmous and bread. After our time in the igloos was up we were allowed ot go inside for as long as we liked. The decor is beautiful, it has a very modern London feel. The Rooftop is not easily accessible for people who have trouble walking up stairs, there's a lift to the 9th floor but then you have to climb one set of stairs to the top, so something to keep in mind.
M. G.
Really good food here. I had the pork belly and would highly recommend. Pints are okay priced. Venue and setting is great. Staff were really nice to us.
Date nights and anniversaries - cannot go wrong.
L. T.
Me and my boyfriend came here for a couple of drinks on a Sunday. We hadn't booked but was staying at the hotel and we called to see if they could fit us. They got us a table no problem so thank you so much for fitting us in. We tried pretty much all of the cocktails and I have to say that the Mojito here is one of the best I've ever had (and that's saying alot as I've had a fair few!) Alex who works there was great and is a credit to the team! The atmosphere was great and the views were stunning. Can't wait to come back and enjoy it in the sun next time!
M. G.
Really nice place. The view was nice at night and I was given a special plate to say happy birthday 🎂 🥳
M. T.
Nice restaurant with a really good variety of food options on the menu. The food was great. I wish they'd do more mocktails as they only had a few virgin mojitos! The staff were lovely. Decent views from the outdoor seating area too!
M. a. M. O.
Lovely rooftop restaurant, great customer service and good quality food!
N. A.
Nice place but disappointing service. My friends had booked an igloo as a birthday treat for me. We were a group of 8. It was a very busy day and we were given a 2hour slot. Firstly, you are only allowed to order the terrace menu which is small plates and secondly, by the time some of our plates arrived, we were unable to order more as our time ran out. So unfortunately, we left hungry and had to eat a meal elsewhere. Also the girl serving us was upset and getting harassed by her manager which was not pleasant for us to see. So this place is good to go for a drink but not to enjoy a meal for a special occasion.
T. B.
Had a catch up with friends here in one of their outdoor balcony pods. Perfect for the changeable British weather. Did get a bit warm when the sun popped out occasionally. The food and drink were good, as was the service.
L. S.
Great place to hang out after work when it's sunny. Lively place with lots of standing room (with shelves to hold your work bag). Had the hummus with flatbread and it was quite good. Great view of skyline.
N. S.
Our server Ricardo it’s so attentive and friendly he care about us all the time.
and Luca it’s him college it’s also friendly and attentive.
We have amazing day spend with a lot of attention and great service and because of this I booked again to celebrate my birthday in your amazing place and I have to tell the girl who worked today blonde (I don’t know her name) she help me for my reservations really professional and friendly.
Thank you everyone for great service and for make our day beautiful.
See ya next week ❤️
J.
This is one of the coolest bars I have been to in London! The drinks menu was extensive and the cocktails fantastic. The outdoors terrace offered beautiful views across the city at night. I'll definitely be visiting Aviary again
I. R.
Unique experience being in an igloo on a rooftop terrace. Highly recommend
K. J.
Delicious oysters and champagne! Amazing service!
J. M.
Had a business lunch here today, service was excellent, food was very good, had salmon fishcake and the views on a beautiful sunny day in the City were wonderful. You must try it.
M. G.
Went to the Aviary for my birthday 🎂, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Food, service, restaurant and hospitality was excellent. Definitely 5 star's.
A. F.
It's an experience, staff is so friendly, and the food is good, the view is amazing but the cocktails are fantastic..would go back as well.
J. S.
Rooftop bar inside Montcalm hotel in Finsbury Square . Great service, nice atmosphere and fantastic view.
G. V.
Food was pretty good and at a fair price point, but the reason for my review is because of the service by our waiter, Feri. He was absolutely outstanding, perfecrly exemplifying professionalism with the right amount of attentiteveness.
Reason for 4/5 is because place is way too pompous for my taste and some of the other waiters seemed arrogant. Not our guy though, he was great.
A. D.
Great place for corporate work drinks, will come back.
F. P.
Great views, great food and a lovely vibe. Definitely worth a visit
N. W.
It was a lovely evening out. Share a bottle of wine with my sister and lovely ambience.
G. L.
Our server Ricardo was so attentive and friendly. Couldn't wish for a better waiter. The food was delicious. We had the gyoza and the sauce was divine. The squid was tasty and the chicken yakitori was so soft. Lovely view at sundown.
E. A.
Fantastic Views over London. Busy buzzing place. Last orders by 11 pm.
S. D.
Brilliant location. Some staff are good some are forgetful. Few very drunk people in a party. View from the bathroom is a great site to see.
H. M.
I booked the igloos for my family and was a bit worried it was going to be a rip off but while expensive, it was the nicest experience! The staff were lovely and attentive, the food was very tasty and the alcohol was great quality. I would recommend booking the 3.30pm slot as we got to see the sunset and then see the view in the dark.
S. K.
Food was delicious. Staff very friendly. Great vibe and not forgetting the best feature the roof top terrace, spectacular views and those glass pods jus amazing!
C. E.
Great views and Cocktails, nice cool vibe
A. A.
Nice food, let us use igloo for an hour after dinner free of charge which was lovely
F. H.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. Nice and airy not too stuffy with decent views over the city. Service was excellent. There were two of us and each waiter always knew who had ordered what and just placed the correct order in front of each of us. Would have loved to have taken pictures of the food which was delicious but didn't want to lower the tone of the place. Good deal we had too 3 courses plus a glass of wine for £29. Bargain!
R. B.
Thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic meal here with a stunning view of London at night. Food was tremendously well cooked, the drinks menu gave more than enough choice and the service topped off the evening. The whole venue felt very covid secure with separate lifts for coming and going. Would definitely reccomend and hope to come back one day to try out one of the pods!
L. L.
Lovely food, nice view
D. G.
Loved it in the sun. Tried oysters also. Really tasty. The gentleman (i forgothis name) was the added ingredient to a fantastic dining experience
T. W. N.
Place is very good. Customer service was excellent. Food is not up to the standard and value of food is also a bit high. Place is good for parties or events.
V. P.
Lovely experiance in the amazing Aviary restaurant. Really good and delicios food, thanks to Alexandra we ate the best
desert(chocolate delice) she has good recomandations about cocktails as well. Excelent customer service we hope ti see all of you again.
A. R.
We stayed in the hotel below this bar so popped up for a drink one evening. Great bar with fantastic views.
B. W.
Very enjoyable. Quite reasonable prices and nice small plates of food. Views aren't amazing but nice place
O. S.
Great views on a sunny day. Drinks are pricey but cocktails are amazing! It however can’t get 5 stars for the disorganized queuing system.
K. A.
Great location, great food. Would only wish the rooftop bar stayed open until 11pm.
N.
I liked this place a lot. Service was fast and very friendly. Security staff was super nice. Rooftop is gorgeous with a nice view. Had a great girls night here :)
Only thing is the food is not as tasty as I would expect for the price. The ingredients seemed a little cheap for the price. Roast chicken was very ok with a meh hummus.
But the rest was top. Great drinks and good vibe.! Would go again for drinks.
P. T.
Lovely views of London from the roof top and the catered food for the event was very tasty. I will definitely recommend.
D. K.
Great cocktails selection
S. G.
We had a lovely birthday meal here. Our table had a great view of the terrace - the staff were very kind and helpful. Thank you !
K. L.
Amazing, nice decor, fantastic views
A. d. L.
Good business location for events on london roofs
K. S.
Had a fantastic time. The service was timely and our waiters where phenomenal, friendly, fun and Alex was a gem who if he is no longer working here i won't be returning. More Alex!!! His service was just amazing.
E. M.
The service was exemplary. Was there for a work do and my champagne glass never got a chance to be empty. Food was good and the view of the London skyline was wonderful.
V. L.
Staff were very in mine and my companies faces about silly little thing apart from that it was a good experience with a nice view
J. T.
Really great location, well looked after by the staff. All very COVID conscious. Terrace is a nice place to be. We were there in an IGLOO shortly after Lockdown 2.0. Igloo was a little chilly (its outside so expected) also a bit small for 6 of us to be in there.
Good drinks, nice food
C. t.
Nice lounge good service.
Ambience was a bit low, can do with better music (chill out style would suit it best)
D. C.
Good atmosphere, great food, great customer service especially from the ginger Viking. Would recommend and would come again.
X. C.
Great views, food and attentive staff.
M. H.
What an experience! Stunning view, amazing service, the best food. Get the cabbage, it's mind blowing! Special shout out to our waiter - unfortunately I didn't catch the name - you've been so great! Super attentive, yet not pushy. See you soon!
A. R.
Great view across the City good quality coffee and wines.
D.
Us and our guests had a wonderful time at our baby shower(even if the surprise cake was spoiled by email by an employee)
B. z.
The view is amazing. The food very tasty and the service very good.
K.
Nice rooftop bar, not too big. Nice views, comfortable seats. Nice staff. Great cocktails.
K. M.
Had a beautiful meal here for my anniversary. The food was faultless, the surroundings are gorgeous, and our waiter - George - was brilliant - so friendly and attentive. The roof terrace is a lovely area to enjoy the surrounding views. I'm sure I will be paying another visit in the future!
T. _.
Went quite late, so I can't give a full review. But from the time that I did spend there, it was nice! The security guards were definitely doing their job and very vigilant! The bar staff that served my partner and I could have been a bit more forthcoming with his answers to our questions; I understood that it was busy, but customer service doesn't stop when it gets busy. Lastly, because we went around 10pm, unfortunately the actual rooftop was closed, so that was a shame; I will definitely be going back though, even if it's just to get a moment on the rooftop terrace! 😊
J. P.
Great views and drinks with exceptional service!
B. L.
Came for lunch. Got a corpse reviver 2 but it was without the little dashes of absinthe that enliven the drink. Everyone seemed pretty pleased with what they got. The burger seemed to go down... somewhat badly though. The crust on the tuna was a little mild and tame. The yakitori was well received.
M. W.
This review is left in spite of the current lock down but should hopefully be an indicator for the management to review and improve their marketing and hospitality for when things reopen. Its going to be hard for everyone In the business but if the Avery are to succeed they should make it easier for the new year patrons to find them while they remain hidden inside the Montcalm Hotel. I hope to visit again and add to this review when the opportunity arises.
D. M.
Could be improved significantly.
The terrace is nice (not the best views in London, but tastefully done) and service generally good. Food was very average (duck very chewy, burger was on par with mcdonalds, chips undercooked) and they forgot to bring out the 'birthday plate' they promised me twice beforehand on the phone.
A. K.
Great atmosphere, staff and view. Not big fan of their burgers.
C. M.
Great menu, great drinks and absolutely brilliant service.
A. S.
Wonderful staff, brilliant food and a great atmosphere.
I. G.
Very good place, great cocktails, nice people and great vibes overall
J. R.
Beautiful view and fancy drinks. Great bartender with serious skills
M. G.
UPDATE: I am so sorry I have left it this long to update, however, I just wanted to say, that the Aviary surpassed themselves and really went out of their way to offer an apology and alternative date for my booking at no charge to myself or my guests. We were provided with complimentary food and champagne and lovely, attentive service throughout. Thank you for accommodating us so well the second time around!
I had booked an igloo for my birthday and very much looking forward to this unique experience. I was very disappointed and upset to turn up at the time of my booking to be told my reservation didn't exist. I booked for the 8.00-9.30pm slot to be told that I was booked in for 6pm. As you can imagine, I was shocked and extremely upset that my evening which was booked around going to the igloo had been ruined. The lady at the front desk was very nice about it and offered us a lounge area, but I was so upset we left. I had been looking forward to celebrating my birthday here and had multiple emails back and forth to the event planners about this booking for at least a month. I have been left feeling completely devastated and embarrassed for my guests who had made an effort to join me for my celebrations.
D. F.
Great service, the waiters were lovely and the food and drinks were great so I will definitely visit again, unfortunately my pictures were blury thanks to the lovely recommendations from a lovely waitress lol
S. O.
Great service and amazing view. The decor is also really beautiful, nice for a date
A. P.
Through my own mistake I messed up the date on my booking. The aviary were very accommodating and tried to find us space inspite of this. The food and service was excellent and the views are spectacular. The staff are extremely helpful. Really enjoyed my time there and will be coming back x
K. T.
We had a work event party here and had a semi-private area which was set up very well. The waiting staff was attentive. The food (canapes) and drinks were great alongside the service was efficient. The security guards were helpful too. The manager, Ricardo really made our night by ensuring that the service was seamless and smooth. From the result of the party, everyone really enjoyed themselves. I definitely recommend this place especially if Ricardo is hosting us again! Also, there was a female bartender at the bar with a blonde ponytail, who I thought was efficient and gave great customer service. Thank you all.
G. h.
Beautiful view from the rooftop restaurant. It was a Sunny day, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
R. C.
Brilliant vibe, views and people. I loved my visit.
R. P.
Long wait (service) on busy nights, but otherwise a great place to go to on a night out + amazing views of the city at night
M. D.
Great view and location.. drinks are expensive but for London it's ok.
Since covid half of Essex has invaded which has definitely lowered the tone 😬... You can tell by the look on staffs faces.
I. C.
Excellent food service and ambience. Great staff. Great views, too.
K. A.
Enjoyed a couple of drinks on the rooftop bar. Friendly staff and there was a good vibe. Highly recommended!
D. L.
Great food, service and views! More on the pricey side.
J. D.
The view is amazing, but a glass of wine cost me £12.90 - you decide whether it's worth it
M. M.
The Aviary rooftop restaurant, terrace and bar is located at the top of the Royal Montcalm hotel situated in the heart of the city on Finsbury Square.
The incredible views from the rooftop are enough to make this a top rate experience but the service seems to enhance this experience further.
The food is clearly freshly prepared and of high quality. They accommodated all of our requests.
Our mocktails were delicious and had the dehydrated fruit garnishing you only see at high quality places.
There were pods on the terrace you could book for drinks which were cute too.
Highly recommend for drinks or dinner with a view.
O. B.
Cannot recommend this place enough. Fantastic service, fantastic food, we felt treated like celebrities. It was wonderful.
B. F.
Over priced food for portion size and quality. Not suitable for a quiet dinner.
D. S.
The Aviary rooftop bar was very nice. The views were wonderful! My only issue was the slowness of the service. We would order a drink and it would take forever, that is if we got it at all. If we hadn't received it we had to go directly to the bar and order because our waitress did not bring it out. However, when we did she quickly stopped us to tell us we needed to pay for the drink we hadn't yet received (we had to pass by the exit to get to the bar). They remember we need to pay but can't remember to bring a drink.
J. C.
Weirdly, for a rooftop in central, the staff are on another level.
The security especially!
The terrace was busy and the gentleman controlling the door noticed a pregnant women further back in the line. He found her a seat and told her "I am sorry you can't jump the line but please wait here and when your friends are at the front I will come and let you know"
I know this doesn't sound much, but, it shows the staff are looking beyond what is in front of them and are concerned and aware of all the people in their bar.
His concern was making those who are waiting comfortable.
He was fair and considerate.
Rare
This level of service should be celebrated
Drinks are nothing special and food is so-so. Although that is forgiven as it's the staff that make it a good place to be.
A. S.
I never thought of attending a restaurant within a hotel for breakfast and I did with my family. It was by far least from what I had expected! Because of the great host who looked after us we had an amazing experience. I would definitely consider going back. Thanks to Housam (I'm sorry if I spelt the name wrong) but we really enjoyed our morning. Not just because of the food but because of his hospitality too :)
M. L.
Booked an igloo with a party from work for the evening. Was a freezing night but the igloo was great, warm and cosy and private. Drink service was good and snacks nice to have as well. If you can plan ahead then the igloos are a great way to be able to speak to people on a night out. We had one for 6-7 people which meant you could sit down and chat and stay warm! Main bar was crazy busy and the restaurant is next to the bar which would have made eating a quiet meal almost impossible.
F. A.
Great location, beautiful decor and the food does not disappoint. The manager Oliver is an amazing man, he was charming and helpful despite the fact I was almost half an hour late for our brunch reservation and made the day by throwing in a couple of glasses of bubbly! Highly recommend. The service makes this better than other posh places in London, as they Re a bit more down to earth, warm and ethnic.
A.
Drinks are very expensive for what they are which is not really boozy enough and very sweet. We tried 3 different drinks and while they were pretty and instagrammable, they were sickly sweet. The patio was closed but the bar itself was very nicely decorated. Decent service. Wouldn't go back.
L. F.
We dined at the aviary at the weekend for our anniversary and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was stunning, some of the best food I’ve ever had. The rooftop area closed before we had finished our meal so make sure to check it out before if you’re going for dinner. There was a lovely atmosphere and we cannot wait to come back again soon x
C. L.
We visited the rooftop bar and restaurant. The food was excellent, the views great, slush g&t delightful! These are the good things, the staff were all new and didn't have a clue what was going on, I really felt for them but ultimately it was paying guessed who suffered.
It feels very much like they haven't got themselves past soft launch, but we paid enormous prices.
I'd say give it a few months and try again
O. P.
Lovely views and non alcoholic beverages Available.
A. A.
This restaurant & rooftop bar is quite impressive. Visited for a friends birthday and the service was outstanding. The food is very good and they have a wide selection of wines / beers. It’s a bit pricey but when you go out to the rooftop, you don’t mind paying that little extra.
A.
Classic London rooftop bar after a heavy week of work. Beautiful views and a stunning skyline
B. P.
Follow up review: They killed me with kindness upon my second visit - very apologetic for the first experience and comped my steak dinner and drinks tonight. Four stars instead of my initial two.
Initial review: I had an 8:30 pm reservation, showed up at 8:30 sharp and was seated. After receiving a menu and water I was never served. I sat around for nearly fifteen minutes after putting down my menu and finally gave up and left.
It wasn't terribly busy, several empty tables, not really any excuse with relatively high menu prices.

Lovely evening at this venue if you can ignore the struggle to get into the venue. As it is very popular guest are dealt with in a very disrespectful manner. A pity as they try to sell an upscale product...
The drinks we prop on the view even better. Our food looked and tasted good but not the best in the area...
C. C.
Beautiful drinks, not so great food. But you’re booking for the view and the igloo’s, and these do not let you down.

This is fabulous rooftop restaurant with a real luxury feel that is accessible. Food was exceptional, with imaginative options for the vegan and vegetarian in the group. Staff were professional, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was very customer focused. Would highly recommend!

Really lovely place, very hip for the young crowd!! But also good for dining out!! Service is great! Served by a lovely Danish waitress, very attentive and polite , credit to this restaurant!! Definitely happy to give her a bigger tip! Made us feel very valued as customers
C. C.
I came here on Sunday for a friends birthday Lunch, the venue and atmosphere is lovely and the service was fantastic, our waiter Giresse was brilliant! Could not fault him at all. We all went for the roast chicken which was delicious and a great portion. We will definitely be coming back soon.
D. C.
Nice place, drinks are on the pricey side and the rooftop is smaller than it looks in the pictures.
J. C.
Forgot about the touristic view...
aviary offer Amazing view on London 360 degrees with skyline and rooftops of the neighbourhood like you rarely see.
Drinks are not expensive for a rooftop.
Quality of drinks and food.
Employees and bar tender are Sexy, funny, smily and professional!
Loved it
K. T. G.
The lady at the reception was rude and terrible with me and my kids. The manager did apologise on her behalf but seeing it's in a5 star hotel you 'd expect someone nicer at the entrance of the restaurant.
G. B.
Great spot overlooking The City. Decent food and good service.
S. A.
A hidden gem of a venue in the heart of the City. The Aviary is a great mix of Manhattan chic and contemporary design, with a great outlook over the city. The restaurant is first class as well, with excellent quality produce cooked beautifully. The staff are welcoming and attentive, without being interfering. A brilliant all round ecperience.

We had a great night out with quality food. The prices are high but it's worth it. Very friendly service that takes care of you. The rooftop bar was a visual delight and the interior of the bar and dining area was nice too.
M. S.
Excellent attention, very nice and tasty cocktails, I personally asked this guy Simone for a whiskey Sour and I was delighted.. nice food I shared some starters with the person I was with.. definitely the place to be.

Really good experience!
The view and the atmosphere are great and the staff is very thoughfull and professional!
Their drinks and wine list is great and of very high quality.
The food is ok, but not as great as the location, staff and drinks. The burrata starter was missing some flavour and this fish as a main was way too salted. but these are things they can improve.
Overall a very very pleasant experience! I am coming back

Great experience, food and service excellent 👌.

I booked an igloo on the terrace for Christmas drinks with my team (and boss!) and we were really impressed. The igloos are a lovely size for 8 people, although they do fit up to 10. It's really nice to be able to sit and chat without having to shout over a noisy bar, and you can still hear the music playing on the terrace so there's plenty of atmosphere. We pre ordered drink and food packages, and everything worked really well - ordering two packages in advance meant we secured the igloo for 3+ hours rather than the standard 1h30 booking. Also, the G&T Old Fashioned - absolutely stellar!
L. B.
My friends and I had such a nice evening at the Aviary - the food was delicious (tuna sashimi was super tasty), great selection of wines and beautiful cocktails too! (really recommend the 'not a cosmopolitan' cocktail). Would definitely recommend this place, it has awesome views too!
C. S.
Good views. Tip: if you work and can't just slug off at 17:30, be prepared to queue inside to get to the terrace and make sure you drop any bags you may have off at the concierge before going to the terrace as they don't allow bags outside the bar area. I suggest having a drink inside, drop off bags while someone buys second round, then go out

Feb 2018:
My original post and rating was regarding my experience for my friend's birthday, where the igloo was double booked (see below). I would award now 5*s but have done an average of them both.
After my original post (see below) The Aviary was excellent. 5* service not only setting up a second igloo ad contacting my friend straight away, but also looking after all of us with the highest level of service. I would definitely go back, although I would just triple check that everything was correct with the booking.
The staff were amazing and the igloo experience was wonderful for my friend as well as for all of us. Thank you to everyone at The Aviary for this wonderful evening.
Jan 2018:
Very disappointed to arrive at this restaurant to use the igloo, which my friend had booked months in advance, to be told that there was a double booking. Their only solution was to offer us a space somewhere else. It spoilt the whole evening, as we had planned around the igloo experience.
A. S.
Delightful lunch time took 3 enjoyable hours perfect 👌
V. S.
Fantastic venue. Had my birthday drinks on the roof top where they have igloos.
A. T.
Luxury 5 star dinning. Amazing love it.
M. G.
Fab views from the rooftop pods, fair choice on menu. Not cheap and steak not up to cost, but everthing else was very good. Super staff too.
T. R.
Super attentive service, caters for vegan, and delicious meat for non vegan too. A bit on the noisy side for a romantic night out but a great venue for a night out with friends or a birthday party. The food is well executed, totally recommend the polenta fries with truffles...
A.
Nice views of the City.

We went to Aviary on a hot summer's evening around 6.30pm & didn't have to queue for too long to get upstairs.
After arriving at the top floor there is a bar & stylish indoor area but beware of another queue to get outside to the roof. There is bar out there with limited drinks menu (you had to queue to get back on to the roof once you've left).
The cocktails that we tried were delicious although on the pricey side as you'd expect from a London rooftop bar belonging to a lovely hotel, the view was great & we met some nice people, although very heavy on the business/finance gang.
J. W.
Stunning views. Great service!
M. G.
New rooftop bar in the area setting the standards high- loving the views and the atmosphere. Used to go to Madison but gladly switched to Aviary. Great wine selection (when in stock) and the Polish mixologist is top notch. Friendly staff and good service
D. S.
Great food, excellent service! Fantastic terrace and views!
L. H.
Friendly staff, great location, the igo pods were fantastic
V.
Had lunch for my birthday here. Food was amazing, and of course the view from the rooftop!
C. P.
Great place for a few drinks. The pods provide a different view and feel and are equipped with blankets and heaters so even good on a cold rainy day. Well worth a visit.
B. G.
Absolutely great bar / restaurant at the top (10th floor) of Montcalm Royal London House - City of London. Many people Friday and Saturday night and there is a good atmosphere. Awesome rooftop (closes at 10:00 pm) with a wonderful view of London's skyline. Nice domes where food and cocktails can be enjoyed.
D. M.
They asked if had a reservation. Don't they know who I am?! Anyway, great views, cocktails staff on point but the terrace could stay open later. Would drink there again but won't be reserving a place. Try the veal
a. h. s.
Very private and unknown but still one of our favourite rooftops in London.
p. f.
Staff and restaurant amazing. But I had the steak at £49 and was disappointed with it. Lots of bone and fat. Definitely wouldn't have it again. Luca who served us was fantastic. They should be proud that he works for them.
J. B.
Igloos outside were great, specially if you have a largeish group! Very nice food, decent cocktails. Bit on the expensive side, specially when it comes to buying bottles of liquor
A. C. G.
Really nices views over the rooftop, the cocktails were really good.
K. A.
Even though we had booked a room at the hotel we were unable to have some drinks on the roof top bar which was quite disappointing, so please book ahead if you plan to stay here. Lovely hotel and welcoming staff.
P. S.
Food ok, views good and services slightly mixed.
A. C.
Great views and a chilled atmosphere. Let down by the £6.50 a pint and £12.80 for a G&T, but that's what you pay for. Fills up fast after work and you might have to queue to get outside on a nice day.
A. A.
We loved the place. We had some great cocktails, recommended by Daniel, who was very friendly and made us feel really comfortable. We will definitely come back!
D. H.
Good location, lovely views from the rooftop. We booked for brunch at 12.30pm, only to find out they stop serving brunch at midday. Aside from that it was nice. Food and drinks expensive, but probably not uncommon for a rooftop bar/restaurant in London.
N. H.
Very good, superb steak, the rib eye was excellent. Really good duck fat chips. Key lime pie dessert was very good. Barolo red wine very very good.
Service was only OK, a little lax and unenthusiastic.
P. L.
Had a great breakfast here. Amazing views, great service. Maybe not what you think for a fancy breakfast, but their granola is one of the best I ever tried!
D. S.
A great experience!
I was impressed by the service we had and we thank Mr. Cătălin B. who made us feel great.
What a gentleman!
The place was stunning...
My friend was impressed and told me she had one of the most beautiful nights in her life.
Keep it so!
V. P.
Food was ok but roftoop closed at 10pm...
P. S. (.
High end cocktail making with a fantastic view of London. A hidden gem.
C. B.
Fantastic diner experience, delicious food, and extremely friendly staff.
K. P.
Never knew this place existed. Service in the restaurant initially a bit slow but picked up once food ordered. Art deco themed restaurant. Would be a great place for roof top cocktails, especially early autumn when sun sets.
v. S.
Great drink and excellent service
O. S.
Very much liked this place, its views, the staff and beautiful island bar. My main meal didnt quite hit the heights of other places, enjoyed dessert.
H. B.
Great location, beautiful views and decent wine list
g. k.
Made our day special with delicious food and views.
R. H.
Stayed at the montcalm for a long weekend and enjoyed breakfast here both mornings with my other half, lovely food and drinks. The staff are wonderful and amazing views.
J. R.
We had drinks and food last night at the Aviary. Interior design is lovely, the vibe was good, the staff were very friendly but the food and drinks did not meet our expectations.
The Aperol Spritz at £13.50 and over-iced was poor value for a spritz. The Chalk Farm Trout starter was under-seasoned. The artichokes of the fried artichoke and polenta main were overcooked, being too tough to cut through and too dry to eat. The pan fried cod was also overcooked and lacking in the flavour it seemed to promise. The eaton mess to finish was excellent.
In summary the presentation of food was excellent, however the flavour and execution just didn't match it. For the prices charged and the level the Aviary pitches itself at this should just not be the case.
m.
Very cool spot - amazing views and fun atmosphere! Delicious cocktails as well! Service, however, wasn't 100% yet and food was good, but not breathtaking.
D. P.
Had the best time ,my server was Antonella she was amazing so kind and welcoming ! Such a lovely night
T. C.
A lovely evening out, the French waiter even though very busy gave exceptional service, the cocktails were delicious the food very tasty, great people watching, clean toilets. For a very busy establishment the night ran very smoothly.
E. C.
Fantastic evening out with family. Excellent food and great service!! Definitely going back.
R. H.
Sharing a pre-dinner refreshment, in the form of a seasonal cocktail overlooking the city, is the perfect apperative. The ambiance, the view, the service and the starter menu are all awesome. The mains didn't personally appeal as much on paper (so I doubled up on starters) however, from the odd snoop at rival tables, they looked quite tasty in carnate.
We were served most expertly by the divine Kim, though all the staff we had the pleasure of interacting with are of a high calibre. Although I prefer not to be interrupted mid-mouthful, especially with quality control questions: the in-passing "how is the food?" is a ubiquitous cliché that the Aviary is of sufficiently high standing to be better off without.
B. T.
It is one of best rooftop bar in uk next to finsbury park. It is hard to find place to sit but the coctails are really good. The view is amazing looking towards Liverpool st station
B. A.
Great restaurant..a little pricey ... Slow service in the peak but you wait for the view
R. H.
Lovely place to eat and have a drink. Good service. Disappointed to find you cannot eat main meals in the pods (only drinks and bar food (significant minimum spend to use them)). Worth a visit.
N. E.
A firm favourite of ours. This stylish bar and restaurant offers breath-taking views over the square mile, allowing guests to celebrate the sunshine while gazing at some of London’s most iconic buildings. A popular spot for office drinks, birthday parties and celebrations. Aviary combines tasteful décor with gorgeous vistas and a buzzy ambiance. A truly impressive rooftop spot.
Y. S. -.
Love the food, the Salmon was great, definitely planning to come back. Good service
S. S.
Rooftop bar with brilliant views of London. Drinks on the pricey side but it is on top of a hotel so not surprising. If it is a nice day, get there early otherwise be prepared to wait around peak after work time!
J. B.
OK, but very pricey and for a roof top restaurant and bar & the view really ain't all that great. Tourists and visitors will continue to come here and rave about the place, but if you're a Londoner, there are better places to go.
C. S.
Fab dinner on a very cold and snowy evening last night! Great vibe, amazing cocktails and team were very friendly. Definitely recommend, perfect place for a celebration
S. D.
Quick service and still follow cleaning process for covid. They have hard working staff who were very polite
R. O.
Nice place and very friendly staff especially Sophie,
H. S.
I had cocktails and dinner with friends here - loved it. I had the tuna sashimi to start and shared the wild bass for main. Really delicious. Amazing views of the city too.
A. P.
Great venue with friendly and helpful staff. Delicious, nicely presented food. chorizo croquettes were divine! :)
A. G.
Great views across London with good food and cocktail menu. The only downside is its popularity with the city banking sector. Not an ideal venue midweek for romantic dates
S. C.
nice atmosphere great view good food but portions were small please give larger portions then a full 5 stars!! overall great for spending money
C. D.
Food was increible. Staff were attentive but not to the extent that it becomes irritating like you so commonly see. Views from the balcony are spectacular as well.
A. K.
Good cocktails and enjoyed time in Igloo. But an hour and a half isn't long enough in the domes. You should rent them out for at least 2 hours.
R. G.
Very nice bar. Good selection of drinks and a very pleasant place to be. Friendly and helpful staff throughout hotel
C. H.
Very cool rooftop, top view ! Standard city prices. The queue though is a bit of an overkill and the fact that people coming to your party later need to queue as well instead of coming in with you.
S. S.
The view is good, but the sentce is terrible. made a reservation for a friend's birthdog and informed him that it was a birthdog on & Sunday at (0:15 pm) on the other hand, it was a birthdag, tteu | did not tet us before that 't see alcohot before 12m | De Ordered coffees, and one of the three never came. md uoften you uent to pay the bitt, the can not figure out) tb despite split the tb every single testaurant in london does this . They were not apotogetic or seem to care about our unpleasant experience.
A. X.
Super view and nice cocktails!
S. C.
Stunning venue and exceptional service - very easy to book and smooth communication from start to finish definitely recommended!
S. V.
Although our server was very attentive, the food took quite a while to come, I had ordered a Sunday roast which arrived cold, it then took another 15 minutes to come back out and still could have been hotter, just get the feeling Sunday roasts weren't their thing.

A terrace on top of a hotel
Not heard of this place before but it's a beautiful terrace at the top of the royal London house hotel near Moorgate. Has nice view of London only issue is they close the terrace at 10 so you can't have drinks out there but you can stay out and smoke
C. P.
So glad we tried this place. Food was lovely and the cocktails went down a treat !
We were lucky as it was a sunny afternoon so enjoyed the great views too
C. M.
Nice bar on a rooftop with great views of the city. Reasonable choice of drinks and cocktails. The food is decent and the staff is very attentive.
