Wonderful family run restaurant. I’ve tried many things on the menu and enjoyed all of it! You can take your own wine and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, would highly recommend for some Colombian cuisine

Just wanted to give a shout out to Ernesto, Maria and the rest of the team at Balboa in Greenwich. We recently celebrated a birthday party with them and their service leading up to the event and on the day itself was impeccable.
Ernesto went out of his way to propose a menu for my guests. Recommended somewhere for me to purchase the alcoholic drinks , shout out to theatre of wine Greenwich and Rebecca for all their help!
On the day of the event itself Maria and her team were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them not even the insatiable curiousity of a 9 year old phased them.
The food was amazing and all our guests enjoyed themselves immensely. The portion sizes were more than sufficient for all appetites present. We went away from the evening thoroughly satisfied in all aspects!
I would highly recommend this establishment to everyone wanting to try something different.
Ernesto and Maria I'll always be grateful for giving us such a memorable evening and allowing us the privilege of taking over your entire venue for the evening.
Thank you so much!

This is my first Colombian food experience. Must admit I didn't really recognise most things and had to Google a little but everything we ordered was packed with flavour and was so delicious! This is such a good find, can't believe I only came here today. You can probably just order the starters like tapas and they are really good and you get to try different things (most of them come in 2 so great for sharing between 2). Definitely coming back again soon!

The food is excellent as it's the service. We really liked it!

The food overall is very nice. The plantain fish and plantain pork belly is delicious as well as the mains. But some of the mains were too salty (seafood rice and beef brisket flank). The arepa starter is not traditional arepa and I would probably avoid this. The food wont blow your mind away but you will enjoy it. However, portions are small and you need at least one starter and one main and one side per person (if you eat normal amount). The service is also very very slow and inattentive. We were waiting 50 mins before starter, tap water was forgotten for an hour, a dish was also forgotten when mains arrived. Friendly staff though and you can bring your own alcohol since theyre unlicensed.
Overall, this is a nice restaurant with decent food trying to upmarket colombian food and attract middle class clientele. However, they need to upskill the staff to match this.

Great experience, from a family run business the service eclipses most of the bigger chains. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive..
Excellent Service..The owner took her time to explain the dishes with a smile on her face at all times. Presented herself with a polite and pleasant demeanor. I will definitely be eating there again. For someone who hasn't eaten A lot of Colombian food i would recommend everyone to give this place a go. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

The empanadas (carne) were very good. The plating and presentation was excellent. They offer great Colombian fruit drinks. The Cazuela de Mariscos (seafood soup) was good. The service is excellent, I highly recommend this place.

Amazing food!!! Lovely service, the best colombian restaurant 💜

Amazing food here, everything was exciting and delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much!

This was my first experience of Columbian food and we will definitely be going back. There are so many fascinating flavours. We need to try all the other starters because the empanadas and arepas were delicious! The service was fantastic. Ernesto the chef came over and chatted to us. He’s a very friendly guy who is clearly passionate about his craft.

I rarely give 5 stars as I always finds something that could have been better. In this case most probably would have been the location, it's a bit "coffee shop" and not much restaurant however..
The food is absolutely amazing, the owner cooks everything himself with love and attention. It's one of those places that don't exist anymore where you feel you step in a different world and you have been given a personal treatment. I spent here my anniversary dinner and I couldn't have wished for anything else. They stay opened till late to accommodate our late booking on Sunday, nobody gives this service in London anymore. 5 starts and above we will definitely come back.

Excellent service. As a Colombian I felt at home. The flavors are very authentic and prices are affordable. Definitely recommend it!

Delicious Colombian food at good prices - yummy plantain. Already looking forward to being back and trying more dishes!

What a gem!! We had an amazing experience at Balboa last night upon the recommendation of a local. The food is authentic, unique and absolutely amazing. Its BYOB and reasonable prices too. We loved how the Head Chef Ernesto came out to talk with us between courses, it really made for a special experience. Can't wait to go back.

You never know when you will enjoy a good meal when you walk in off the street- - this is a wonderful family run eaterie. This little restaurant is a coffee shop, during the day, and transforms on some nights every week into a charming Colombian restaurant, where you can bring your own alcohol.
The food was delicious, and so were the home made Colombian drinks, I had a sort of lemonade made with sugar cane, and mint. Lamb chops with chips, and sweet potato mash, - delicious. The Colombian family running it were warm and friendly, and the service was excellent.
Prices reasonable, food good, friendly and warm atmosphere, will be back there.

Great place for dinner! Really good service and very nice food (especially for the price)!

I am a born Colombian, so I know how our food should taste. Balboa is a 5/5 for me, 10/10, the food is unique and flavored amazingly with distinctive tastes from the Pacific areas of Colombia. The family run business have wonderful customer service! with all the negative media news we seem to be presented about Colombia, the Balboa restaurant definitely changes this tone and narrative- making us Colombians proud!! Gracias Balboa team! please go to Balboa to experience a piece of Colombia in London town..... epppaaaa! :-)
V. B.
Wow...what a wonderful restaurant right near home. We consider ourselves very lucky. Food is amazing...the arepas are better than my girlfriend's (between us!). The fish Tamal...amazing, empanadas....the best you'll try. But the owners and chef, Jorge and his wife are so friendly. We'll be back and we'll bring friends to support this local business
Gracias
Vito and Emanuela

Truly amazing food and good service. Went back again just to have the sugar cane drink as was passing last night

Lovely authentic columbian food, would recomend to anyone looking for a cozy place to spend the evening.

Delicious South American food unique to the area, staff are always charming and make us feel at home. Great for anyone who fancies a delicious casual meal with friends. Highly recommend the fish baked with plantain and the arepas. The restaurant is also BYOB
A. M.
The family that run the place are so friendly but what really makes this place is the food! This place is a gem!
Our group ordered 8 different dishes from the menu (starter/main/dessert) and every single one was good.
Do NOT miss the starters at this place. I strongly recommend the Encocado de camaron (king prawn in plaintain cup)

this was my first time having Colombian food and i am glad i had it here. first you could see how nice the owners are and their radiant smile behind the mask! i had the braised flanked steak, and it was deliciously cooked, generous amount of beef, presented on a banana leaf with buttery rice and plantain, it was amazing! cant wait to try the rest!
F. L.
Delicious! Fantastic food with lots of variety. The chicken was great, fish was excellent, empanadas were amazing. Great local spot for takeaway. Will definitely order again, and visit once it's safe to do so!
T. s.
Honestly one of the best fry ups I’ve ever eaten. Service and atmosphere was really good.
Best bacon I’ve ever eaten.
Oh, and the fresh OJ was fantastic.
Thanks again guys
L. H.
Fantastic menu, and as someone who had never had Colombian food before really exciting. Food was delicious, service friendly. It’s BYOB, and with such reasonable prices for the food it was one of the best value meals I’ve ever had. Ambience was also really pleasant, especially as the venue is normally my brunch spot.

Incredible, honestly just incredible!
We ordered a selection and everything was just so well seasoned, delicious and a treat; the pork empanadas are fantastic and the cassava arepa are a must get, the shredded pork is great but don't pass by that Hogao sauce, it's a smokey tomato delight and came with this incredible spicy mango relish that explodes with heat but then just sort of immediately mellows out, incredible!
For mains the sticky seafood rice was definitely the group favourite, creamy and packed with flavour, the panela chicken was beautiful with its sticky sugary sauce and that amazing blood sausage rice!(which I wish had about twice as much of!). The fish tamal was beautiful and reminded my boyfriend of his mums cooking! And the breaded pork chuleta with the patacones and that just incredible mash was a great combination!
And the brownies! The brownies... they were a hell of a lot better than they have any right to be and the guanama cream that goes with them is just mouth watering. The balance on the chilli is perfect and its baked to absolute perfection but I need to be able to buy more pots of the guanama cream because I want like 2-3 next time!
Unfortunately we cant get delivery so ended up collecting and our food and spent an hour on a bus in rush hour traffic; if the food tastes that good after an hour on a bus I can not wait to get to dine in!
You can tell this place is someones passion project, this isnt just a restaurant; its someones heart and soul expressed in food they genuinely love, throughout every dish we tried the one thing that just sung through was a masterful depth of flavour, well balanced and beautifully seasoned.
Highly, highly recomend and cant wait to dine in once things have opened up!
A. D.
Really lovely food, great staff, great value too!
C. M.
The food is amazing and so is the presentation. The restaurant is clean and the employees use mask.
This restaurant also does natural fruit juices and the passion fruit one is delicious!
L. M.
We ordered from this restaurant as a take away. So happy that we found this place. We ordered a lot of stuff. Empanadas, Plantain, Fish dish, Beef dish, Pork dish etc. It was far too much of course but we planned to finish it off the next day. All of the dishes have been great. Highly recommend.

Stumbled on this gem while walking & getting slightly hangry near the park - & we're glad we did!
Lovely restaurant housed within another restaurant called the Trafalgar - *so keep your eyes open if you're going to get takeaway or pick up an order, as the signage for Balboa isn't clear.*
The couple (?) Running the show were extremely friendly, & the foods delicious! Haven't had quality colombian food in ages so was pleasantly surprised.
Had the beef empanadas (it's the fried kind, fyi), arepa, grilled chicken (delicious!!!), & the flank steak (also pretty lovely).
Will definitely be back!

I am so pleased to have found this restaurant! We went a couple of weeks ago and it was just great - the food was fantastic, the staff were so friendly, and it was a lovely experience. I would go back in a heartbeat!

I was recommended by a friend from work to visit Balboa with the family. I have never had Colombian food before so we ordered different things to share and I have to say that everything was delicious. Empanadas were soooo good and the mains and garnishes were lovely really tasty food. Luxury food with a great price tag.
S. B.
We had a fantastic dinner at this lovely restaurant. Great value, byob and run by really friendly people.

Easily my favourite restaurant in Greenwich! Delicious fresh tasting food using high quality ingredients, great veggie options and BYOB

I immediately fell in love with the corn cakes and the fried plantains. If I could write an ode to the corn cakes, I would.
As takeaway food it's perfect, delicious, simply packed, super warm for long.
Also, staff is amazingly friendly and I can't wait for the situation to improve and have food in the restaurant itself.
G. O.

Beautiful food. Really put effort into even the side bits - stuff like the rice and plantain were delicious. I'd say this is the best plantain I've ever eaten.
A. C.
Ws tried this place out about a month ago. Instead of ordering mains we tried 6 of their starters and had it tapas style. The food was delicious. You did have to wait a bit as everything was freshly made, but it was well worth the wait. The service was great, they were very attentive. Planning on going back soon.
C. M.
Excellent place tor enjoying Pacific colombian taste!

Great food and really friendly people. I totally enjoyed the flavours and textures. I had the arepas, some really yummy pulled meat and the coffee flan. Can’t wait to go again and try some of the other things on the menu too .
J. M.
Ernesto was a great host. I opted for the empanadas to start & the Arroz Atollado Marinero for the main course. The sticky rice was fragrant with flavours that balanced well with the coconut. It’s a highlight of Colombian pacific food.
BYOB capped off an already excellent experience.
T. H.
Hands down the best restaurant in Greenwich at the moment - the menu has so much that you want to try it's ridiculous, the staff are lovely and the food was excellent.
