Reviews of Barrafina
M. M.
My hotel recommended this restaurant and I decided to go on the first day I was in London on this trip. I was not disappointed! They have traditional Basque Country dishes, which are hard to find, and do them correctly.
The atmosphere is great since everyone is sitting on barstools around the kitchen, and service is on top of everything. The food is top notch and I wish I would've been hungrier and ordered more than 3 things. Every item on the menu sounded delicious.
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation to go to this restaurant and try some new food!

OK I am OBSESSED.
My new favourite Spanish restaurant in London, and I don’t know how it’s going to be beaten.
I’m still dreaming of the Spanish tortilla and I DEMAND you order this otherwise you’re extremely missing out.
Every dish was a knockout. I will be coming back. Bar seating is fun, exciting and fast paced but without feeling rushed. I’m coming right back ASAP.
L. O.
Exciting sit at the bar tapas restaurant. Eat, chat and watch the chef's do their thing. The marinated olives were divine. The menu is pleasingly short and changing. We had the house wine and it was lovely. Decor fairly standard but the food is the focus here.

Barrafina @ Drury Lane is a much quieter branch of the restaurant but with the same friendly staff and delicious food. We really enjoyed the various items on their specials menu (particularly the prawn croquette & the John Dory rice!)! We didn’t quite like the lamb skewers although the bread that comes with it is delicious.
N. E.
Fantastic food! Barrafina never disappoints, the quality of their seafood is unparalleled 👌🏼
Special mention to the lemon sole in butter and garlic, the manchego croquetas, prawn tortilla... And of course the cheesecake. So good it gave me goosebumps!! I'll come back again and again. Friendly staff and excellent wine list.
A. L.
What do they do to these foods? Even simple food like tortillas with chorizo are so delicious...
The octopus dish was amazing too!!
I can't wait to go back to this heavenly place...
L. W.
The food here is consistently fantastic. The fresh ingredients really shine. It feels like your are in Spain for a magical few hours.
K. A.
Great food and can enjoy tapas style eating with lovely champagne to go with the dishes. Bar style eating, so not tables. Definitely recommend the squid, but really all the food is great. The lettuce as well was lovely. Recommend to book in advance as places are limited, and the staff were just really nice! This is not a cheap place, but the food and service are worth it.
j. w.
Phenomenal menu. My only regret is that the ham is carved by a machine and not a seasoned Jamon carver by your table. But nonetheless, great experience. I was also a solo diner, so it was easy to over order. Also, they made me move halfway through my meal, as the restaurant is set up like a bar around a diner and space is very limited
N. K.
Fresh and perfectly prepared food, friendly and helpful staff. Will surely recommend to anyone I know will be going to London
J. K.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff who explained the entire menu to us first timers.
C. S.
Fabulous find! We went here as its was recommended and it didn't disappoint. Food is cooked freshly in front of you. A real buzzy atmosphere, amazing food and friendly Spanish staff. Booking is strongly recommended and no more than a party of 4.
C. Z.
As per usual super busy but the flavours are always worth the wait. Got in at 5 when they open and literally had to roll myself out. The staff was so helpful and even the head chef who was crazy busy was still able to come over and say hi.
D. P.
The food is very tasty and authentically Spanish. The ink rice is amazing! There are only bar seats though and the lighting is quite bright so maybe not appropriate for a first date but great to catch up with friends.
D. T. G.
We've had a fantastic dinner. Spanish high cuisine, with a great service. Luisa was very attentive and friendly. 100% recommended
D. L.
Absolutely phenomenonal experience. There isn't much seating available as everyone sits round the bar, but it makes for a more intimate experience and allows you to watch the chefs work their magic. The flavours of every dish were perfectly balanced between expected and unexpected - truly enjoyable. Dishes came out in good time, and staff were nice. In regards to getting a seat - it gets busy very fast starting at 6pm, and because of this they don't let you hold seats for others, you'll need to wait until your whole party arrives before they'll seat you-- so do bear this is mind! They also do jot take reservations at this site. P.S. The octopus and potatoes I totally recommend - but everything is good!
M. D.
Went here for private dining, so can't comment on the main restaurant. The experience was pretty good but the room was very noisy when everyone started speaking.
The food was good but if say that the vegetarian menu I had was pretty unimaginative: lots of tomato and cheese. The fish dishes, the ones I sampled from the table, were really good, especially the cuttlefish croquettes.
Was hoping for something a bit more as I've heard good things about the main Barrafina, so was a bit disappointed. Main bar restaurant might be very different though so will have to come back to compare.
A. C.
Excellent place for Spanish tapas even late into the night! 75 pounds for 2 wine, 4 dishes which is super fair. Recommend this branch as it is much less crowded. They all dont do reservations anyway!
A.
I love the setting, small bar type space where you watch your food being prepared. Everything we ordered was exceptional. Tortilla is a must and the grilled clams were a favourite as well.
In order of pictures: sea bass tartar, pumpkin with lemon mayo, calamar, artichoke grill and grilled clams
S. S. (.
Barrafina well known for its seafood selection dish. The restaurant have 30 seats in front of the bar so we can enjoy our dish being cook right in front of you. The atmosphere is good and staffs are friendly.
A. A.
We really enjoyed the evening at Barrafina, the food was great and worth the wait. The bar side dining is first come, first serve and we had to wait around 30 mins to get the seats. We had pimientos (green chillies) and fried calamari with our drinks during the wait and then when we got our seats, we ordered the grilled octopus which was great, a beef steak which was also delicious amongst other tapas. We had a number of other tapas. The service is great and while it does set you back around 70 quid a person if you generously order, it is all worth the wait and the money. Really recommend it
L. L.
I found Barrafina to be refreshing to the point of endearing.
From the no reservations first-come-first-serve concept, to counter seating where one can see the chefs at work. The staff are so engaging and knowledgeable; it is also refreshing to see the manager going around in hoodie and jeans working as hard as the rest.
Highly recommend the monk fish main and artichoke salad. I will definitely be back to sample their next menu.
A. C. C.
Nice waiter and waitress, just only waiting time a bit long. I queued up outside for 30mins from 9pm, waited to get the standing side bench for drinks and snacks around 9:30. Then, wait until 10:50pm right before their last order, I got a counter seat. Food, wine, beer, service, mostly excellent. Just the waiting time, which nothing they can do, as everyone is trying to stay longer for the time they spent waiting. There seats capacity are only
~22 bar counter
+ 5 windows seats
+ 4 3-4 ppl tables outside.
S. L.
Very delicious tapas in good sized portions. Squid ink rice, peper croquettes, chicken wings soft shell crab and pork belly were my top picks. Juicy, well cooked and fresh off the kitchen. Good service, but bear in mind the wait can be long especially for the limited tables outside (waited over an hour at Drury Lane branch), or shorter wait for seats at the bar facing the chefs. Only downside is the price. I would come back again for special occasions.
E. G.
Great food, bustling atmosphere and amazing seafood. This place live and breathe Spanish vibes. I have really enjoyed tapas style lunch in Barrafina. If you pop in, definitely try Octopus. It was a sure star in my opinion in their menu. Arroz Negro was also really great. Service was attentive but not too pushy which is usually a tricky balance. All in all definitely a great place for a more upscale lunch or dinner. Please note that all the seating are at the bar so there are no separate tables.
S. P.
Great ambiance and a happy staff, and very friendly too. Fine Spanish cuisine. Tried chicken liver, chorizo and pumpkin tempura. One of the best foods.
Clean and modern interior.
D. M.
Really enjoyed my dinner at Barrafina. Good Spanish tapas is an amazing thing, and you can certainly find it here. People are friendly, great experience as you get to watch your food being made. Can’t book, so you do have to queue, but generally doesn’t take too long (probs queued for 25 minutes on friday evening at 6.45ish). Queues do get longer later in the evening around 8pm. I recommend the octopus, and the lemon or orange sorbet which where super tasty!
D. L.
Very nice and authentic tapas place. A truly open kitchen, I enjoyed watching everything getting prepared. Menu got a nice variety, and the fish of the today's special were super fresh. However, the food wasn't as good as everything else, my fish was basically olive oil and paprika, kind of lame and not creative in my humble opinion
E. S.
Came here for a friend’s birthday and had the best time, from the entrance it looked like there was only standing room and tapas but there was a private room below with plenty of space and a private cooking area.
It was a great experience and the food was delicious, the service was quick and efficient and the staff were super friendly and helpful towards our private party.
A great private setting for formal events and parties, that is quite recluse.
J. H.
Can't get enough of this place. They don't take reservations so my MO is to show up as soon as it opens, grab a bar stool, and order away. They nail the classics like tortilla or arroz. The fresh fish fritters are delicate plus some. The pork ribs drip with a where did this come from sauce. And the milhojas (mille-feuille) maybe my current #1 desert. Bring friends so you can get maximum grazing, order a Priorat, and slide on up to that counter.
M. C.
Well seasoned dishes, great beers and very nice staff. Dessert was a honey drizzled cheese cake that is a must try.
B. Y.
Bold rich flavours in small tapas style dishes that are excellent for sharing. The counter style atmosphere really make this a standout experience worth visiting!
M. M.
Love the tapas here. Sit at the counter to watch the cooks in action. Friendly service. Must try! Go early to avoid queues.
P. M.
A lovely Spanish tapas bar. The concept is you sit at the bar and order food and drink. Because of this spaces are limited to about 30 people at a time, if there's more then you wait I a queue around the edge eating and drinking nibbles. A reservation is highly recommended.
A. L.
You can try wonderful tapas in the Michelin starred restaurant with small budget. Don’t hesitate to order the Pan con tomate. Actually all dishes are perfect!!
N.
The food is amazing, so fresh and tasty I would definitely come back here for that BUT the host wasn't very friendly and actually made me and my girlfriend uncomfortable...he kind of rush us with the drinks and didn't recommend any when we asked for one, then when there were sits available he stayed behind the bar talking so we just sat ourselves down and just after that a waiter took over and cleaned the bar for us, I mean we basically got ignored a lot and it wasn't even busy that night (there wasn't a queue outside for once) but like I said, I'll give it one more try for the food most definitely...CHECK MY PICTURES IF YOU WANT TO GET HUNGRY 😜
G. L.
This was a great experience. You have to go early to avoid a long queue.
We had a incredibly delicious mix of Spanish cuisine that were prepared before us by very friendly chefs. It felt very welcoming and interactive.
I would recommend the octopus and pork belly.
X. W.
3.5 nice venue and some nice dishes including the arroz con conejo and the cauliflower , but around half of what we ordered were a bit too salty for my taste
M. L.
What a place!! Amazing food, so many tastes, great service and friendly waiters! Will definitely come back consider 30-35 per person without drinks
R. Z.
FELIX IS AMAZING. Best server ever !!!! Thank you so much to Barrafina and even more so to Felix an invaluable member of staff, who made our visit unforgettable. We will certainly be returning especially when Felix is working. Thank you Barrafina.
B. K.
Great food! Love the way you sit and watch the preparation of the meal. Really popolar place, we went there on a weekday and had no problems getting seated. Recommended!
M. L. H.
I wasn't drinking alcohol so I was a little restricted. I asked for a non alcoholic cocktail and chose orange and lemonade. Our kind lady put an orange with it so it looked great
B. T.
Incredible meal and excellent service. Can't miss experience!
D. L.
Great atmosphere and service, very reasonably priced food, we ordered the paella which was very very nice huge portion for two we couldn’t even finish it. Also ordered the croquettes which were tasty although were sort of little oval looking things as oppose to the typical big croquette were used to.
A. Y. J. J.
Was recommended here by a friend! The tapas were incredibly good and service was great. That's a high compliment considering we had to wait for about half an hour before we had a table! They have 3 branches in total and I was told each menu is different from the rest. Dishes are unique and well cooked!
A. G.
Amazing food and great service. We really enjoyed our dinner especially Spanish croqueras!
M.
The atmosphere s great, chart with the staff and chief. I love the way they cook fish.
S. D.
Great tapas- each outlet has a different menu and the moment I noticed this one had mato cheese on it I made a beeline for it. Did not disappoint! Staff were friendly and food was delicious. Also has txakoli wine- perfect for the hottest day of the year!
J.
Arrived 5.45 pm and missed the seatings, waited almost 1.45 hr . Great Tapas food, very fresh and tasty, very friendly and great service . Definitely recommend this place minus the long wait.
K. W.
Went on a Sunday and was blown away by the natural skill of the chefs and service by the FOH. Relaxed and informal. Really gave a sense of being abroad in Spain.
d. B.
Had a wonderful meal after the Opera. Luisa was very friendly and helpful
W. L.
Amazing food. Super delicious. Be aware, small portion but freshly cook.
C. S.
We went here on a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Atmosphere, food and staff were 10 out of 10!
S. K.
Bustling Spanish Tapas spot w/ amazing small plates. The Octopus and the Ham croquetas are not to be missed. Staff was friendly and the wine (and sherry) was delicious too!
J. P.
One of my favourite restaurants. Flawlessly delicious food, awesome service, and great buzz/atmosphere. Can't recommend highly enough. The pan con tomate is one of the most delicious bites in London.
B. S.
Lovely atmosphere, very knowledgeable hosts and great food.
J. V.
A favourite & great place to eat. Fantastic food prepared before your eyes. Staff are friendly & professional conjuring up wonderful meals. It's a first come, first served policy unless large party which need to book private dining room.
T. L.
Excellent Spanish food. The chef pays much attention in preparing the food.
P. Q. A.
Great Spanish food. Small plates ideal for sharing. The arroz negro (rice with squid) is spectacular. The have estrella Galicia. You eat at the bar as there are no tables. No reservations
M. M.
Genuine Tapas, classic dishes, excellent service from friendly Spanish staff. One of my 'go-to' places in town.
K. O.
Lovely tapas restaurant. A bit expensive, but worth it. The chicken was delicious. Lovely staff and excellent service.
J. D.
Amazing Spanish Tapas Restaurant! All the dishes are sublime and the staff is more than happy to explain the specials.
A. A.
One of our favorite spot in London. Delicious tortilla and torrjias. Arrive at the opening time if you don't want to queue for more than 1 hr particularly at the weekend.
A. B.
The food was ok, but super overpriced. The waiter was kind of annoying and provided a bad service overall.
B. V.
Pretty nice Spanish tapas have. You can find from the typical to other not that well known tapas. Tortilla de patatas made at its perfect point with the leaky egg..... If only they could control the amount of salt (too salty!!!)
L. V.
Service was good and food was good but wouldn’t say it is a value for money type of restaurant. If you go with more than 1 other person would be hard to have conversations since it’s bar seating.
S. T.
Nice place with friendly staff, creative tapas, slightly off the main tourist street.
S. A.
Quick service with some really interesting dishes. The terrace is nice and quiet. Unique tapas great for sharing. Best of all is the quality of food. Clean and great-tasting
E. M.
Great service, excellent food. What's not to love?
s. p.
Unique plates, loved the John dory rice. Service was excellent. Found it a bit pricey but still worth it.
E. S.
Sure the best Spanish restaurant at London. Very good product and attentive very professional service.
No doubt, a very good place to have a unbeatable culinary experience.
M. O.
Classic, simple tapas made fabulous by Barrafina. Get there early, or expect a wait. (It's worth it.)
M. K.
I cried out of happiness
J. P. B. W.
Good food, but doesn't match the hype
T. H.
Excellent place for Spanish tapas even late into the night! 75 pounds for 2 wine, 4 dishes which is super fair. Recommend this branch as it is much less crowded. They all dont do reservations anyway!
D. O.
Delicious food ! Very fresh fish and tasty tapas
A. B.
I think this is the best tapas place I have been to London. Loved everything here!
E. L.
Great experience, personal yet casual and great food
C. ..
Good tapas and quick service. I came early so did not have to line up :)
L. H.
Food was tasty, a couple of dishes over-salted. Service and atmosphere was great. One huge complaint, though; it was vastly over-priced.
S. Y. T.
Just the place for good tapas. Great service too
i. d.
Amazing! Wonderful experience and delicious food.
K.
The most amazing food i have eaten is a long time. The service was top quality to match. Would highly recommend!
A. K.
Fantastic experience. Very good tapas style food, especially good fish.
I had to wait for the restaurant to open on a Sunday, but it was definitely worth the wait.
There are a lot of places where you queue to get in, and it becomes a bit of a ritual. And then, because you waited for so long, you try to justify that and say that it was worth it, when objectively it wasn't worth it at all...
This place was worth it.
Felt like having a nice brunch in Spain. Really fantastic food, service and atmosphere.
C. P.
Such good food! If you love tapas this is the place for you. The restaurant itself is cozy and the service is friendly. We got our food quickly and it was all delicious. They lost one star because their desserts weren’t as amazing as their entree and dessert is super important.
J. R.
Place is great for Spanish tapas. Line up and wait for a spot at the counter. Chose from a great selection of Spanish wines. Never had a bad dish here in 4 or 5 visits. Watching the Spanish staff scramble to get everything made is almost as fun as the food.
M. C.
I was super-excited about eating here, and I liked it. There were plenty of creative options that I had never seen on a menu before.
Service was very attentive, even aggressive. They clearly plan to be busy and want to move people through quickly. Overall the atmosphere is a little cold compared to what I expected.
C. W.
Grilled seafood dishes were incredible, especially enjoyed the monkfish, octopus and razor clams. Perfectly seasoned, amazing crispy sear and beautifully presented with the chefs preparing it right in front of you at the kitchen counter. Other dishes I tried, like the tortilla and ham croquettes, we're not as memorable. Not exactly disappointing, but not something that you'll think of again after ordering them once.
P.
Loved the seating by the kitchen so we could watch what was going on. Nice variety of wine and great service. We took our 6 year old who liked a lot of the dishes though I personally found that while they were all tasty, nothing really stood out as super delicious, so it was a bit expensive for that reason
R. D.
Very good. Oysters are over three pounds each which is well expensive. Any ordered veg is extra. Good staff and good experience. Everyone wants to leave in time for west end theatre. We only just manage to pay to get to the theatre in the nick of time.
B. G.
This is probably my 10th time visiting Barrafina as I go every time that I'm in London. Food was still exceptional, but I wasn't overly impressed with this location compared to others. Service at the counter was slow and not overly helpful or friendly. It was late in the lunch serving and all the staff seemed a little bored. I will say the oxtail was new and one of the better dishes that I've had there.
L. B.
The experience was tainted by rude staff on entry. It's understandable that you should wait for the whole group to arrive before being seated but we made it clear we are eating now, as our other friend was joining us later and did not eat much. We didn't even ask to save a seat for the missing person! However they said it is their 'policy' that were not allowed to sit or even order if someone is coming later. We arrived early and the place was very empty. Fortunately our waiter after that was nice and the food was good although small portions, but it was a bad start.
C. A.
Superior tapas, very friendly service, good wine. Seated at the bar, refreshingly informal for the quality of food. Didn't have to wait as long as we expected for a seat (but popular, even on Monday night. This is Covent Garden!)
E. F.
This is my favourite tapas restaurant in London! It's very small and you cannot book meaning you can wait up to an hour for a table but can enjoy wine and small dishes while you stand and wait for a seat to become free. All seats are high chairs located at the bar / kitchen where you can watch everything being prepared. The food is delicious. A great menu of fish, meet and veg. Worth the wait.
N.
Excellent service as with all Barrafina branches - it feels intimate and personal which is ideal and rarely offered in chain restaurant settings.
As with Spanish tapas in general, the vegan offerings are nonexistent making it unsuitable for a growing demographic within London. Otherwise the food is very rich and indulgent - if you like your meats and fish you will be well served.
K. V.
Amazing Spanish tapas!! I went there with my boyfriend for his birthday. He really loved it. Josep and Valeria were extremely friendly with us plus the food was wonderful. A little bit of waiting time but it was definitely worth it. Thank you guys!!!
L. V.
Best Spanish tapas in London. You have to queue and I don’t think they allow you to make reservation. We waited for 45 mins before we were seated, however the wait was worth it. The food was simply excellent. The head chef checked every dishes before they are delivered to the customers. That is how serious that they treat their food and customers. Lastly, remember to order dishes with Octopus, they are so delicious.
J. W.
What a beautiful little restaurant. It feels authentic. Spanish chic, sitting at a marble shrouded bar on little stools, with a place to hang your coat. The food; freshly prepared in front of you and served as ready, pretty on little plates. A little pricy, but worth it for the flavoursome Spanish food!
G. S.
Pricey but worth it. Knowledgeable staff who are super friendly to help with any wine pairings or trying new dishes. The black rice with squid is absolutely exquisite. Depending on your appetite, be prepared to shell out at least 40 pounds for drinks and a few tapas
T. T.
All of the dishes are presented wonderfully in a bright, casual environment. What makes this place special is the quality of the staff. Casual yet very professional service. If they cut their jamón by hand, and had a more adventurous wine list, I would be here a lot more.
L.
My favourite Spanish restaurant in London. Top class, never disappoints!
Update October 2020: the menu has changed after reopening due to COVID, I'm afraid it's not as good and very expensive. Let's hope it's temporary.
O. M.
Even better than some of the tapas in Spain.
It’s casual, cozy, delicious, exactly the same as what you would expect a tapas place should be.
The long queue is personally acceptable after been served with such great food.
A. M.
Gorgeous food, nice wine and friendly service. Octapus dish was star for me
Ł. K.
Delicious spanish tapas in the central London
C. V.
One of the best Spanish tapas in London. A bit pricy, but worth it. Open kitchen: you can sit at the bar and look at the chefs that are preparing your food. Great experience. No reservation, so prepare to queue a bit.
I. M.
Probably the best tapas I've enjoyed in London. The specials were particularly delicious with the ciperones (baby squids) simply fried off in seasoned flour and the boiled octopus amount the highlights.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the ambience and layout were just right for lunch (not too sure the atmosphere will carry over as well for diner?).
J. B.
It's a hell of a lot of work for what amounts to a few mouthfuls of food (when shared with 3 others). The menu is impossible to parse without constant reminders of what everything is from the waiting staff.
The food is decent, it's just so damn expensive. Nothing mind blowing. The service was great but I don't think I'd eat there again frankly.
S. R.
Always perfect.
Today the highlights were the tomatoes, the cuttlefish croquettes and, well, pretty much everything we ordered!
I enjoy the buzz of the Soho branch, and the charing cross branch is my favourite for a night out but this one, drury lane, is the best for chilled, relaxed lunches.
Can't fault it. Excellent.
A. W.
Great place for tapas and small dishes. Not a particularly large menu, but a tasty one. I had the stuffed courgette with goat cheese, and drizzled with honey. The presentation was lovely, and was delicate and delicious. I also had the chorizo torta, which was a good portion, and was filling.
Tip: This restaurant does not take reservations. Also, not shown in any of the photos is that they have a heated patio that seats about 10. This is the better area to be if you want to sit down. The curious thing about this place is that it only has bar seating inside, or you can stand. All in all, a nice choice for dinner.
C. J.
We had originally gone to barafina in soho, but it was a three hour wait. So we walked to this one and only waited s few minutes to be seated. There is no table seating only a tapas bar so for large groups it's not so ideal. But for just myself and a friend it was perfect. You can watch the food being prepared and cooked in front of you. The food was simple traditional tapas but of an exceptional quality. The pork belly and octopus were especially good. We ordered a great bottle of aalto rioja grand reserve which was pricey but delicious. Would recommend for a long relaxed dinner.
S. A.
Simply delicious, amazing restaurant!!!!
R. B.
I have visited on several occasions and it has made my regulars list for places to go when I am in London. I am usually dining alone on business trips which is perfect as it is easier to get a seat for 1 (crowded and almost always has a line) and it is great to watch the show behind the counter. I like their vermouth cocktail and so far have not had anything off the menu that I didn't like. Highly recommend.
C. F.
Absolutely stunning food with really friendly staff. The food is pure art, I am so happy we went out of our way to visit. Would recommend to anyone who likes tapas x
J. H.
Really Great Food. Nice staff. Very highly recommended.
M. Y.
Delicious! Very long waits, but you can have a drink and nibbles while you wait. The atmosphere is great and lovelt sitting by the kitchen watching them prepare everything. Highly recommend!
M. J.
Amazingly tasty tapas with a huge focus on fish and shellfish. Nice selection of wines and sherries. Looking forward to visiting the other branches. At the Drury Lane branch yesterday and had shrimp fitters, grilled Gurnard on ailoli, a whole baked John Dory and a sumptuous tomato salad. With a couple of glasses of Fino, lunch came in at £120. Very tasty, great atmosphere and a nice corner of Spain found in London. Will visit again.
A.
I've visited this breanch twice, but I prefer the soho one better. The food is obviously delicious and high quality . They cook in front of you and you can taste that everything is extremely fresh. They lost one star mainly because the second time I went there the staff was extremely rude. When we entered the restaurant we were just ignored. After we tried to speak to someone they finally came, but the restaurant was full so we had to wait to be seated. The waiter didn't even tell us the waiting time and left. We then ordered something to eat while waiting to be seated, but no one really paid much attention to us. The first time I went it was so much better, the service was excellent while this time the service was just poor.
S. M.
Amazing fresh and beautiful refined genuine Spanish cuisine. The seafood is particularly good - octopus, squid and fresh fish perfectly cooked to order. Take a seat at the wrap-around counter and watch the chefs at work as you sip on chilled cava or Fino. Usually a very busy restaurant, you may have to queue for a seat.
M. L.
Lovely Spanish food! Friendly staff and super fast service. They don't take reservations, which is nice for last minute dinners. There's usually a little wait but not for long.
K. L.
Went with some friends for a farewell dinner, expectedly there’s some wait but the waiter didn’t seat customers by coming order and put us in the back corner. Not sure if it was the reason no one seemed to be bothered to take care of us...I think we waited longer for ordering and for the food to come...Service was not friendly or helpful either.
Overall a very very unpleasant dining experience. Although the food was ok, I don’t think we will come again
h. S.
Lived in Spain for 8 years and never had tapas this good. The staff are amazing and so is the food they make. You sit at the bar watching them prepare the food, it's entertaining

Barrafina is my favourite tapas restaurant in London, the quality of the food is always outstanding and the service fantastic. Each branch has a slightly different menu, for me the standout dishes at this branch are the black rice. It is not to be missed!
L. J.
My love affair with Barrafina is over after committing 5 years to them. Our family have truly loved this place & it has been our go to restaurant when we're in London that we have recommended to numerous friends. Our San Diego family will to be gutted to hear this as they always looked forward to Barrafina delights.
Our split with them happen because of disconcerting staff that made us feel like ghosts. We had to ask 3 time for our starter dishes that finally came after the main, with 1 coming at the end of the main. We were brought 1 main that we didn't order & they insisted we did, our drinks never came so had to ask again. It felt like a night of constant reminding of something because our waiter wasn't attentive. Our son had been 2 weeks earlier & said he had a similar experience that made him feel Barrafina had lost its sparkle. Maybe the warning sign was the lack of a que outside on a Fri night that was expected if you didn't arrive promptly on opening. Saying that we still enjoyed what we had but it felt all wrong because of the order it was brought to us & we didn't go away with that feeling of contentment as we always had in the past. Bye bye Barrafina!

The best food I've had in London. Make sure to come early, as there will be a line for seating and it does not move quickly. But you can order drinks and snacks while you wait, and it well worth the wait. The ox tongue, a dish I'd never tried before, was incredibly tender and well sauced. The eggs and chorizo was absolutely decadent. The sopresata croquettes were a bit salty, but that's my only complaint. Everything is vood here, and since it's tapas, you can try everything (well, almost). They have especially fresh seafood and they cook everything in front of you. The service was also very friendly for such a crowded, busy restaurant.
Eat here. You will not reget it.
T. K.
Insanely good food and friendly service.
G. S.
Top tapas in the heart of Covent Garden. The produce is extremely fresh and the preparation of all the tapas is exquisite. The croquetas were fantastic and the jamon was top.
The guys at the counter were super friendly and it really was fun to see them cooking everything live!
T. R.
Excellent, delicious food prepared right under your nose. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great fun dining experience. Can get noisy at peak times.
J. D.
Surprisingly not the same quality as the sister place on Adelaide Street: there a reasonably copious meal seemed light, here a similar selection left us with a poor sleep and a lasting unpleasant stomach the next day. Otherwise, taste and execution are very convincing.
Y. Y. W.
Excellent Spanish tapas. Try the octopus and croquetas
I. M.
One of the best tapas places in London! Amazing food, great vibe and staff very helpful and kind. Has the real Spanish atmosphere!! On of the places I repeat more often in London!
m. e.
Really fun spot and delicious range of authentic Spanish tapas and dishes.Definitely get there for opening because it is a small restaurant and everyone sits along the bar. Parties of four maximum which makes sense when you are there. Brilliant spot!
J. A. N.
Great places for tapas and sharing. Kitchen-bar seating. Great vibe and really good food. Prices a bit higher than reasonable. Spanish food.
O. R.
The food here is delicious. It can be an awful wait at peak times (e.g. 1.5 hours I waited on a Thursday evening) but just about worth it. Lovely authentic bustling atmosphere and good value for money (if you avoid the £18 langoustines!) when compared to their places.
P. M.
Best tapas in London. Even waiting for a table is fun with snacks and a cold beer. Have never had a bad dish here and I've nearly polished off the entire menu.
O. B.
The food here is exceptional. Thoughtfully prepared, especially the seafood was great. Being seated at the bar also gives a cozy fuzzy feel with your server.
K. B.
Lovely food, friendly service and dog friendly!
F. G.
The latest opening of my favourite tapas restaurant in London. Excellent selection of daily specials as well as my favourite staples like croquettas, courgette flowers, razor clams and tortillas, all in a casual setting at the bar for you to have chats with the staff as they prepare your food.
M. c.
Delicious tapas well worth the wait. Great service and nice bar style seating with a great atmosphere. Definitely try the octopus and the courgette flower!
M. K.
Amazing, amazing experience, the food and the atmosphere is great. But the service is outstanding, me and my partner love going to this resturant, mostly because of the service by Antuan who is really friendly and goes out of his way to make sure we enjoy ourselves.
I would definitely recommend, and ask to be sitted with Antuan (anthony).
R. M. M.
Busy, energetic, Spanish and brilliant food. Best Arroz Negro on the planet.
E. P.
Not the best tapas I’ve been. Plates are too small and too expensive. Taste was also not the best. Menu needs a review. Staff seems to be tired and work very slow.
N. L.
Friendly staff great Spanish tapas
A. E.
Barrafina Drury Ln is one of my favourite restaurants in London. The incredible menu, the queuing concept and open kitchen makes this restaurant a special place. It's a joy watching Diego and his amazing team create every dish with such perfection. 👌🏼
J.
It was not the usual good service and one of the Waiters was really hard to understand we could not hear him he kept getting more and more agitated. the food is good and it is always delicious serve that the is prepared in front of you
P. L.
The same tasty excellent Spanish food you expect from Barrafina but this one has a grill which means the menu is different to the other ones I have been to, with some great choices, we had the rib which was very tasty
J. F.
Even though it's a small and busy restaurant and very often you have to wait before you cramp into a table. The food is excellent and always surprising.
S. N.
This place has a great tapas menu. Losing a star as they do not take reservations, which makes it a lottery at busy periods if you want to meet someone there, as to whether you can get a table or not.
O. L.
Every dish was amazing.
D. B.
We first encountered Barrafina at Dean Street. There it was excellent, offering an exciting and imaginative eating experience. I’m afraid that after visiting the Drury Lane branch, the expansion strategy seems to have lost something: the Barrafina brand now seems compromised in food, service and especially hospitality. We didn’t feel welcome. Such a shame.
T. H.
Really great Spanish food, lovely tapas. I heard really good things about Burrafina and was not disappointed at all. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommended.
Y. C.
Great place for small tapas made with fresh ingredients, and a great experience to watch the chefs cooking right in front of you. Queue extra early to avoid the wait.
G.
Simply the best. If you want the best Spanish tapas in London there are two places, there is Jose and there is Barrafina. I cannot make my mind on which one is better, they are just different. I encourage you to try both.
J. C.
Delicious food in a very well-appointed venue. Also has a private dining room with its own kitchen and service. Highly recommended.
S. T.
The food is very good, the wine could be better. On a Thursday night we were 3 and had to wait 1h30 to be seated... only 24 seats available.
M. C.
Great service and tapas paired with wine. The server explained the specials and portion sizes were good for one person or to share.
F. A.
Closest thing to having great tapas out of Spain. Marvellous selections and everything tastes delicious. There's usually a queue to get a seat.
S. R.
Lovely place with hilarious staff. Was quite busy when I got the to meet a friend, but after some lovely wine and food we were well taken care of on a sunny summers day.
K. B.
Easily my favorite place for pintxos outside of Spain. Amazingly fresh ingredients and friendly, helpful staff. Great wine selection, too.
G. W.
The attention to detail and the teams passion for their craft shone. The food was totally delicious. We don't live in London so please come to Scotland Barrafina
M. P.
One of my favorites! Great food prepared by convivial bunch of Spanish guys having a blast!
Don't miss the plain sounding tortilla!
J. W.
Excellent all round. An authentic Spanish tapas bar. Not cheap. Staff as lovely as the gourmet offerings.
B. B.
We initially had a poor experience, but the team went above and beyond to make it right.
j. e.
On this occasion was not as good as previously
D. R.
Good food and enjoyed the atmosphere. However portions rather mean sized and extremely expensive.
A.
Is a amazing food and experience
O. G.
Delicious food, friendly service. Sitting at the bar is busy but allows you to see everything being made which is fun.
T. W.
Excellent chicken breast dinner
P. K.
Where to take a first time visitor to London? When you have an out of town guest, the pressure is on to deliver on the restaurant selection. Barrafina Drury Lane is the new, Covent Garden outpost of the popular Spanish casual dining restaurant and as we’re big fans of the other 2 Barrafinas it seemed like an obvious choice.
H. P.
Excellent fresh food and wines. In this small restaurant you will seat around the open kitchen and eat nice tapas.
Q. A.
Just be aware that there are no tables. Great for two people. Tricky for more! But food is exciting (oxtail, lamb's glands, etc)!!!
R. M.
The best meal I've had in London. Arrive when it opens if you don't want to wait a long time to be seated.
v. y.
Pure love, just too good to be true. Please guys, order the red king prawns, £18.50 is your way to heaven.
B. E. B.
Awesome food. Very good for groups. 👌🥰
O. G.
Delicious food, friendly service. Sitting at the bar is busy but allows you to see everything being made which is fun.
G. N.

D. N.
Just so good, without a shadow of a doubt the best tapas in the UK. Device and quality consistently top draw
D. R.
Good food and enjoyed the atmosphere. However portions rather mean sized and extremely expensive.
K. L.
Went with some friends for a farewell dinner, expectedly there’s some wait but the waiter didn’t seat customers by coming order and put us in the back corner. Not sure if it was the reason no one seemed to be bothered to take care of us...I …
S. R.
Lovely place with hilarious staff. Was quite busy when I got the to meet a friend, but after some lovely wine and food we were well taken care of on a sunny summers day.
