Wow!!! Not sure what else I can say.. the food was amazing!! I had fillet steak and the Mrs had rib eye and both were cooked to absolute perfection!! Both melted in the mouth and tasted supreme!! Amazing selection of cocktails on offer and the price over all was well worth the quality. Staff were attentive and great.. couldnt do enough for us.. When we are back in this part of London this will be our absolute go to steak House!!

Our first day in London ever...walking around the Borough Market District we came across Black and Blue. Staff was amazing as well as the atmosphere... what was most surprising was the menu from top to bottom. From the salad to the steak and salmon and desert was perfect. A nice selection of wine to go with our meal made the evening. You absolutely cannot beat the price of what we we experienced tonight. We highly recommend it!

I thought it was really nicely located, loads of movement to keep your eyes busy, and to use as conversation aids. Good for a first date, slightly noisy on packed days, not too bad, experienced great live music. Loved the option of outdoor sitting. Took a while to get seats a few times. But the bar is also very accomodating for standing around whilst you wait on your seats. Love it. Hate the wait. Love it

My daughter and my partner had arranged a birthday celebration meal for me at Black & Blue in Borough Market in January 2022, I had never been to any of their establishments before so did not know what to expect – which is I believe why they call it a Surprise!! We arrived at 7pm on a Friday evening and were greeted warmly by the door staff and quickly directed to a very nice table in an enclosed seating area. Our waitresses Perla and Barbara were so professional whilst remaining courteously warm and friendly that we were talking like old friends within 15 minutes. Before one can truly enjoy food at a restaurant the level of service is what prepares you for the gastronomical treat to follow, this would be a very hard act given the exceptionally amazing service we had received just to the point of receiving pre meal cocktails – which were fantastic and full of tropical flavours (Mai Tai & Espresso Martini). The ambience was very relaxed and laid back and we soon settled into an evening which would be full of laughter, stories and great food, we all fully enjoyed our meals and without going into too much detail, I had the Baby Back Pork Ribs and if I had one criticism the portion was quite modest, which led me to ordering a second portion (the first time I had ever done that!). A few more rounds of cocktails and dessert and we all agreed that the night had been a great success and made even more so by the attentive Black & Blue staff of Monica, Barbara and Perla, thank you guys for making my Birthday very special.

Went here for a birthday meal, very friendly welcome by the staff. For starters we had bread, olives & salt/pepper chicken with lime which were superb. For mains we had the Vegan Cheeseburger/fries & the Cote De Bouef steak (as shown in pics, perfectly cooked medium rare) which was brilliant (as seen in pics, perfectly cooked to the bone which was the only part left on the board), plus fries and sides of green beans & peas. I requested both stilton & peppercorn sauces (highly recommend ordering both as the steak is large & it mixes up the flavours nicely). Desserts were the mango sorbet & the chocolate fondant - wow.....warm & gooey in the centre :), finished off with espresso martini. Highly recommend to visit

I'm always a bit underwhelmed by B&B. It is conveniently located, but the food and service always seems average at best, with the quality of both being just enough to be OK. It isn't cheap but I guess you know that going in. The lamb chops were incredibly fatty, so I'd recommend something different.

Expensive, and you definitely get what you pay for. Excellent quality steak. Interestingly the 2 courses for £16 or 3 for £20 lunch offer is available until 7pm (not certain about weekend timings though) and also looked great. Being someone who is usually chatty during meal times.... Let's just say I was unusually quiet by virtue of enjoying it far too much. The waitress had a lovely sense of humour too, very pleasant and solidified an already good dining experience into a great one.

Burger and steak chain style restaurant. Wasn't expecting much and wasn't disappointed. Prawn in breadcrumb starter obviously one of Iceland's finest. Ribeye steak not very tasty and at £32 rather pricey even for London. Bit fatty too. Green beans had seen better days, a bit tired. Mashed potatoe was quite good. All edible, but distinctly average and very much chain restaurant fare. Nothing interesting about the menu.

Have eaten here twice in a couple of years, burger both times. One of the best hamburgers I've had in London, I reckon, apart from the ones I make myself. Because they chop the meat themselves they can cook it medium (whereas most places buy in ready-made patties and always say that they have to cook them through), so mine was lovely and juicy and pink. Very tasty meat, nice fries. Fresh tomato and lettuce, melted cheese, and some gherkin... Only noticed halfway through eating that there was no onion slice, so will definitely ask about that next time. Still, very enjoyable.

Really disappointed last night. We went to London for the night & wanted a nice dinner. We ordered prawns for starters & they were very overcooked, the chicken wings were ok though. We also ordered 3 steaks which were again not as we'd ordered/overcooked (medium rare & medium) also had ribs which were ok but would've expected more meat on them for the price. The staff were lovely & very apologetic & they didn't charge us for the 3 starters & 3 steaks. Just a shame as we only went for the night & didn't expect the low quality of food for the money they charged. Hoping it was just because it was Saturday & busy & they couldn't keep up with the demand, but as I say, don't mind the poor quality in a spoons but not somewhere that charges £20+ for a steak....

My best restaurant experience in London for years! Very friendly and welcoming service, and the food (we had the steak) was perfect for all four of us, as were the cocktails and beers! The outdoor seating, sheltered and with plentiful heaters were the cherry on top, I felt comfortable but never cold - like we were inside! Will come again!

I came to Black & Blue for lunch as part of a social event with my business networking group. A table of 11-12 people, we were excellently treated by the Black & Blue staff. For a restaurant which is more expensive to dine at than others, the cost of my two-course set lunch didn't hurt my wallet as much as I thought it would. There wasn't a compromise on quality either, and the menu catered very well for my nut allergy. The waitresses were very friendly and personable. Not robotic at all. Happy to joke about the World Cup and take fantastic group photos of all of us. I'd happily return and recommend Black and Blue to others wanting a classy social lunch or dinner!

Situated in the ever so trendy area of Borough at few steps from the market, this is a really enjoyable eaterie, informal and yet elegant, outdoor seating with large umbrellas to repair you from the sun. Staff is friendly and polite and their Steak and Frites is pure heaven (...for meat lovers that is!!!) And their caipirinha is the perfect companion to your meal.

Have eaten here quite a few times and always had good food. The portions are not huge but just enough so not a problem. They do a special 2 or 3 course menu until 7pm which offers a small selection of starters, mains and desserts which is good value. Most of the staff are very friendly and the manager is very nice. Sometimes can be very busy, probably due to the location so close to Waterloo station. Very clean restaurant.

I really liked it here. It was clean and tidy, staff were polite, friendly and didn't leave you waiting to long, yet gave you enough time to look through the menu. There was no music playing, so it was easy enough to have a conversation without having to shout over background noise. Food was lovely. We had to wait nearly an hour for our food. I had to sent a steak back as it was mostly grizzle. The one that came back was barely any better. The only reason Black & Blue is getting three stars is because my colleagues seemed happy with their meals so I need to be fair. The chicken Satay skewers were just okay, a bit over cooked. Wings were very good. Nice and crispy. Of the sides, the grilled mushrooms are very good. As are the green beans. The service was okay. Very apologetic about the bad steak and the delay getting our food. The steak was not charged for in the end and we were gifted a complimentary bottle of wine for the delay. I would not, however, recommend this place to a friend. Nor would I be back.

I went with my family (5 people) for dinner on Sunday around 4 pm. The restaurant was really quiet. However the service were slow, waitress were chatting while we were waiting for a drink we could see on the bar far around 10 minutes and our order was forgotten. Before paying we were asked for feedback and service was taken off voluntary, which shows the management is aware of how good the service should be and it might have just been the staff that could be new. The food was amazing and good value of money as well as it is a beautiful and comfortable place to eat and spend time with your family and friends.

A birthday treat for my daughters. They both enjoyed the food in a modern restaurant on the fringe of Borough Market. We visited on a Sunday evening and it was very quiet. Service was excellent. As the name implies the menu was predominantly beef based but there were fish and vegetarian options too. Our steaks were cooked beautifully and my youngest enjoyed her burger. Food nicely presented.

I went to Borough market on Sunday, 12 May 2019, but forgot to check the opening day and time. It ended the market is not opened, only the restaurants around were. I strolled along and finally picked this restaurant for lunch. The venue's decor was simple but looked stylish to me. Food taste alright as it was not fine dining so couldn't be too picky. As I was the only Asian entering the restaurant, again, those who were sitting there dining looked at me in a strangely way. The lady who served the food was quite nice though. But when I finished and settled my bill, the waiter/waitress just looked at you passing by without even a simple greetings of saying "Thank you"! It seemed only most restaurants here in London were like that.

My wife, two children (10/13) and myself looked for a restaurant close to our hotel that served, for want of a better phrase, plain, not fussy, good quality food. We literally strolled into this place on a Friday night and got a table. Service was attentive but not over the top. Surrounding was clean, warm and friendly. Chicken wings were nice but a very small portion. Main courses were nice But no lasting impression on the whole experience other than just okay.

A large cavernous place and still with ambience. We really enjoyed our dinner, the steaks done to perfection, excellent fish and chicken dishes as well. The choice of wines is good and the food was fabulous. The staff are friendly and efficient and seated us pretty quickly even though we had not pre booked. They also do a mean Manhattan. Not cheap but fair value for your money. Later in the evening the music became quite intrusive though.

Now I never leave a review but I went here for my mums 50th birthday, and I must say this is one of the best restaurants I've been too. The staff were lovely and very welcoming and in my opinion made the whole experience perfect, from laughing and joking with us, to being very professional when needed. I highly recommend the fillet steak here at only £27 but tasted like a £50 cut. For 4 3course meals with 2 cocktails each worked out to be £55 a head. Very much worth the money and in my opinion that's cheap considering were in London! I highly recommend this place and I will be returning with my girlfriend. - Toby Harvey 07/11/2018

We were a party of four and visited on a Friday evening without a booking. Not surprisingly it was busy but the staff were very obliging and found us a nice table. it is much bigger than the impression you get from the outside looking in and it has a lively,pleasant buzz. We all had an enjoyable meal despite the fact that there was a minor glitch when it came to serving the four of us at the same time. The manageress, Dominika, was great at sorting this out and very courteous in the process. She made a very generous adjustment to the bill and we all left content. Thank you Dominika!

I had the set menu for 3 courses. The deep-fried butterfly shrimp was ok, 4 pieces and sweet chili sauce. For the main I chose the Steak frites with Béarnaise sauce. The meat was pretty much tasteless, no seasoning at all. The sauce was decent. The portion of the meat was small-medium and the size of the fries was small-ish as well. For desert I chose Ice cream sundae. Was not impressed at all by the store bought ice-cream they served me with, I could taste ice-flakes, it wasn't smooth. I think I've had better tasting ice-cream from Iceland. All in all, It was okay/mediocre. I do not regret the experience, however, I wouldn't spend £20 again on a meal like this.

Excellent value Steak Frites at £15. Good quality cuts, cooked how you like them. If you're feeling fancy, they have more upmarket cuts but you may be best served by spending the difference on a good bottle of red wine.

Set meal of 3 dishes included a stater, main and dessert. Starter of artichoke, cheese and spinach dip with tortilla chips was excellent and cheesy. Main was salmon salad with baby potatoes, beans and peas. Potatoes looked very old and were dry, came with a holendae sauce however the salmon was 2 very small pieces which I could of finished in 2 mouth falls. Dessert was a brownie with vanilla ice cream, 4 tiny blueberries and 1 small strawberry cut in half, the set menu dessert is much smaller than the non set menu brownie which is twice the size. Seats are very comfortable, decor is appealing and customer service and was good. I gave 3 stars due to the small portions.
