Reviews of Brawn
W. K.
The best friendly neighborhood restaurant with lovely food and pleasant vibes. I can't express how happy I was with this dining experience. Everything was so simple but unique. You will not order anything wrong. The service was excellent. It's my new fav in town!!
M. B.
Great food, loved the calcots, burrata and the Parmesan fritters but the service was horrible. The waiter didn’t ask for our order, didn’t offer us any drinks and the food took forever.
I wish the service were better because we genuinely enjoyed the food!
D. W.
Sourdough bread, crab bisque, ox cheek, mushroom agnolotti pasta, rhubarb panna cotta, lemon tart. White wine.
Five stars for attentive and personable service, beautiful interiors and well composed dishes. Would highly recommend and visit in the future.
C. K.
Great menu, delicious food, fab wine menu and friendly staff. Parmezan fritters, chargrilled broccoli, burrata, tuna tartar, pardpadelle ragu, oysters, steak, pudding and cheese plate!
T. K.
Good quality ingredients meet with good chefs and result is amazing food.

The best meal I’ve had in a long time!
After walking past this place countless times, my son and I finally managed to pay a visit for dinner
We’ve visited most of the highly rated / well known restaurants in town but this place truly stood out from some of its peers and is certainly up there with the 1 Michelin starred places locally
First class cooking, friendly and sharp service and very good value
I ended up raving about the place for days and have already rebooked (unfortunately getting a table requires some forward planning due to the restaurants popularity)
A newly firm favourite
M. D.
I recently moved here from NYC and I have very high standards for food. The dishes I had here were all very impressive, from flavors to presentation. The service was also great, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in London so far, and I eat out a lot. I will definitely be back, probably often.
C. S.
Incredible food, service,/staff is warming and experienced. Little gem in Hackney, always good. Definitely would recommend

Brawn was an incredible experience. The restaurant itself had a great interior, the staff were fantastic and the unique flavors and quality of food made for a fantastic evening out.
Our party enjoyed every meal and dined tapas style to maximize the delicious meals that were available, dining upon a large selection of the available courses.
Whilst the menu offers up some unique options, it's a heavy hitter on all of the great takes that it prides itself on.
I recommend it to anyone especially if you want to try something different !
N. N.
Great ambience, friendly service and amazing desserts. Starters were fresh but I had ragu pasta and that was insanely salty-and spicy. A bad taste stayed with me the whole night. They are understaffed but that seems to be the norm nowadays in post-brexit London.

I these days moved right here from NYC and I actually have very excessive requirements for food. The dishes I had here were all very marvelous, from flavors to presentation. The provider became also super, and I simply enjoyed the surroundings. This is one of the first-class restaurants I’ve been to in London so far, and I devour out plenty. I will in reality be lower back, probably often.
P. B.
Pretty common flavors for an extraordinary price. Not sure if it’s worth it, so many places do the same kind of thing.. but beautiful inside and great staff.
M. L.
Warm and cozy, mouth watering aromas, a sustainability focus (real towels instead of paper) and Aesop soap - what’s not to like? Oh and delicious food and a nice wine menu too! Had a great time dining at Brawn. I even got to have a glass of wine that was not on the menu but one they were evaluating for their menu - it was delicious and I felt pretty special. The staff was accommodating to my vegan diet and my meal was delicious. Definitely bringing more friends!
J. C.
Dined there a couple of time a couple of years apart and quality has always been excellent at a correct price. Waitress, Penelope, was so sweet and lovely. Such a great evening in a nice atmosphere and well decorated. Would definitely recommended
G. H.
This is a corker of a restaurant.
Firstly, it's properly cute. The seats at the back of the restaurant give views of the kitchen; it's great to watch the chef's at work.
Secondly, the staff are great. Our waitress gave us food and drink advice and was genuinely passionate. She was helpful and friendly.
Finally, the food is bloody brilliant. Get the beef rib. Don't question it. Just do it.
P. W.
Outstanding. Light bright and airy.. Service was totally on point right from the start. Food of simply fine taste combinations and quality. Their bread was so wonderful I almost took it home. A lovely refreshing lunch.
S. H.
Just always spectacular. I’ve been to a silly number of Michelin starred restaurants in London but this is my favourite restaurant. I’ve been here on memorable dates, and more recently with my wife and little kids! The pasta dishes are invariably outstanding, and the FOH team led by Wes always strike the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism. If you’re into natural wine, support Brawn. They were doing it before it was cool!
A. W.
Seasonal menus with nice selection of drinks.
P. T. S.
Amazing food from the starters to the dessert! Great service! The kitchen is open and you can see how they carefully prepare everything. It is a must!
J.
I had the most amazing pasta with rabbit ragù here in London. It is pretty authentic and close to what I would do at home in Italy. Waiters were extremely kind and a pleasure to talk to. We observed the chefs preparing our meals in the open kitchen, savoured excellent prosciutto and marvelled at the gorgeous plating. We will definitely come back.
v. t.
The perfect night! The service was exceptional and the food super tasty. Well done guys.
m.
Nice space, relaxed but vibrant atmosphere and good location across from Ravenscroft Park. The food was very good, only giving it 4 stars because they had run out of a couple dishes that we really wanted to try and the server could have been more helpful. Wine list was extensive and reasonably priced, and food really tasty with a unique menu.
My favorite was the asparragus with egg yolk to the dishes in the pictures were great too. Good for a date or small groups.
J. L.
Fantastic experience in this quaint restaurant. It’s hidden away from the main streets of Shoreditch. A little bit of a walk from the tube. But it was worth it! The duck liver was very flavourful and tasty. The pasta with rabbit and veal Ragu was also very good. Tiramisu was a nice finish to a simple yet classy meal. Great service. Book ahead.
J. L.
Great food! Just nits and bits that mitigated the experience for us. We found the onglet fairly bitter, perhaps due to grilling more intense than common, I'm unsure. There was also a loud high pitched noise coming up regularly that wasn't pleasant.
S. R.
Been here multiple times already and every time it's amazing!! Food is delicious, great portion size and presented very well. Staff is super friendly and the vibe is very chilled! Can definitely recommend
C. C.
Salt hake fritters and the pork chop were both incredible.
B. M.
Very excellent. Came recommended by a friend, couldn't really fault it. The gnocchi puff thing for starter was surprising and delicious. Fantastic wine if you are into naturals. Great service too - and the bill came to less than I was expecting even with the annoying already-included-but-""optional"" service charge.
G.
Both the food and the service were superb!! Deep wine list
D. H.
Great place if you want to meet friend, talk, share delicious food. Amazing winelist, plenty of natural wines. Highly recommend.
L. B.
Went for dinner last night.
The bread was soft and fresh.
Complimentary, delicately bubbled water.
Succulent lamb, simple yet delicious wine to pair.
Service was amazing, the chocolate mouse was some of the best I’ve had in my life and the ambiance was on point!
Warm, cozy, glowing energy and well dressed, polite team!
J. D.
Really loved the food, especially with the autumn sun shining through the windows. Would recommend the anchovies in rosemary oil to start with. And definitely try the mallard with lentils.
M. H.
Yet another outstanding meal at Brawn, so I figured this time I would actually leave a review. From the aperitif to the snacks and starters to the main and dessert, everything was top-notch. Service was impeccable as well - authentic and thoughtful without being overbearing. I’m already looking forward to my next outing here.
S.
We had dinner here last night. Food quality was high, especially the mussels!
Portions were a bit small.
We asked for Channin white wine but it got warm very quickly and they didn’t bring an ice bucket at any point of the dinner. Shame coz everything else was perfect!
R. O.
Tonight was my birthday dinner, and the staff made it feel even more special. By kindly offering to take our pictures and allowing us to take our time and enjoy our night out. The food was fantastic.
S. G.
Been to Brawn 3 times and each has been a lovely experience. Love the intimacy of the place, lovely staff and constantly changing menu. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting London.
Huge fan of their extensive wine list and homemade bread. Make a reservation ahead of time!
A. P.
Everything is executed to the perfection, a lot of taste, very nice waiter and beautiful restaurant. I warmly recommend it ! Excellent value for money.
V. L.
very carefully selected products, cooking is spot on. good selection of decently priced wines.
A. C.
Very tasty food and lovely intimate location. Great wines as well ✨
G. A.
Came for my husbands birthday. Food was delicious, staff was very nice and accommodating.
C. F.
Great spot with well-made, homey dishes and a wine list full of funky natural wines. Friendly and efficient service that can’t be faulted.
B. L.
Had dinner with my partner at last minute. Did not have a booking. The staff wete welcoming and friendly. We had the Salsicce and Squid along with some bread and butter fot starters. Alldishes were nice. The main dish, ricotta (see photo), was also nice and tasty.
Overall a great restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere. A pleasant treat.
N. S.
The seafood, especially monkfish, was amazing. The service was perfect with a relaxed atmosphere. Really well done.
A. A.
New favourite restaurant in London! great dishes, highly recommend.
g. s.
Best combination of tastes and colours and all the ingredients are the top of their range .
L. B.
Fantastic high quality food, a dinning experience, the cured trout horseradish & apple starter was outstanding
P. D.
Difficult start to the night because we were seated 20mins late to the tablet BUT more than made up for with amazing service and great food
J. G.
Incredible food, lovely natural wines, attentive service.
J. T.
One of the best British restaurants in London. All the mains were delicious, starters were a bit hit or miss but anchovies were very good!
J. C.
Love the vibe of the place, the staff was very friendly and food was delicious! Would definitely come back again for the burrata, crab tagliolini and tiramisu!
L. L.
Perfect!
C. S.
Had a lamb wrap to takeaway for lunch today and it was so delicious! I can also recommend their rhubarb tarts, wonderful pastry and beautiful to look at too...
Service is always friendly and welcoming.
A. K.
Great wine menu, lots of interesting new varieties, the staff had great knowledge too. Every dish was perfect, had the pork Ragu and parpadelle, murkshroom liguine, black pudding, all incredible.
M. L.
Even if you try to find a negative point you’ll not be able to find it! Everything was absolutely perfect ! We had dinner at the bar, super nice atmosphere, lovely and caring staff and the food was stunning. Special mention for the turbot with the mushrooms. Congrats guys don’t change anything because it’s already a 10/10!
R.
Amazing natural wine. Oysters and cheese delicious. Need to go back for a proper meal.
D. W.
Beautiful unpretentious restaurant with extensive wine menu. Good British flavours, the steak with cheese and walnuts was superb👌
D. F.
Truly first class! Highly recommended and ticks every box
F.
Brawn is the kind of restaurant you want to come over and over again. Great food, perfect cocktails and the staff is just AMAZING. Plus: soundtrack always impeccable.
Thanks for a great experience :)
J. P.
Inviting atmosphere, delicious food, informed and interested staff... the perfect spot for a mid afternoon escape from the hectic city.
D. T.
Excellent food in a lovely setting. Great value too
S. S.
Best food we’ve had in London! Must try burrata and tiramisu!! 👌🏻
T. R.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff serving well cooked classic dishes. I really enjoyed the steak bavette, simple but full of flavour with a really nice sauce made with salty anchovies. The wine list is impressive, full of all sorts with bottles to suit any budget.
A. T.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. There isn’t a bad thing to eat or drink on the menu. My partner and I often pop in here and sit at the bar for a drink, some almonds, the burrata, and the bread and butter. The rotating menu of seasonal dishes keeps it interesting, and the pastas, in particular, are just fantastic. The staff are attentive and all lovely people, and the ambiance of the place is perfect.
My only complaint is that we can’t eat here as often as we’d like because we’re not that good at planning ahead and it’s hard to get a table!
E. W.
Perfect evening out. Incredible service, beautiful food made with love and an interesting wine list. Artisan hand sanitiser on each table, each table socially distanced, such a perfect evening. Highly recommend!
M. B.
One of the best meal's I've had in a long time, Brawn has immediately jumped into my top restaurants in London. It has a wonderful atmosphere and a brilliant kitchen team. The food is deceptively simple but magnificently prepared. It's all built around first class ingredients. There is nothing not to like about this place, so worth it.
A. C.
It's a lovely restaurant and the food is consistently very good. The service was a bit slow this time and some of the portions (especially the ravioli) were too small. Just charge a bit more but give a decent size portion for the mains.
The Tiramisu was fantastic!
J. G.
Just outstanding. Such tasty food. Great service. Really good ventilation.
P. L.
My favourite kind of food - the best ingredients simply prepared to make them sing. The natural wine list is incredible, and I also highly recommend their after dinner drinks - especially the wild cherry liqueur. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere and fantastic, attentive service.
S. G.
nice atmosphere, welcome people, tasty chicken sandwiches
L. O.
If you can find it you are in for a fun night out in a bustling hot spot buzzing with a good looking crowd sharing dishes at reasonable prices. It’s cozy so definitely make a reservation. Everything on the menu is good so you may want to just order most of the dishes to share. About 3 per person average and then adjust up or down depending on how hungry you are.
A. A.
I had one of my best meal this year. Great tasty menu with top quality ingredients that have been cooked, paired and used with experience and great knowledge
a. v. e.
One of the nicest places in East London. Love the vibe and the food is delicious.
A. P.
Staff very friendly in a adorable place with lot of choses among wines, dishes and as ending the most suspance waits about, what there will be on next menú?Thanks Brawn!
F.
Absolutely outstanding! Incredible food, perfectly served wine, beautiful staff, ethical ethos. This is probably the best restaurant I have been to in London. We will be back 100%. Thanks for making our night so fun and special.
R. D.
Really outstanding experience. Took my mother here for a treat and she loved it. Top notch food, atmosphere, cocktails and Jack was absolutely wonderful looking after us throughout our meal. Can't wait to come back!
J. H.
Better than average service and high standard food! Lovely vibe of a neighbourhood restaurant.
A. B.
This has to be one of the classiest restaurants in London, whilst remaining entirely informal in terms of vibe and service. Above all, the food is excellent: superb saucisson, with bread and butter to die for. For the main I was very impressed with the mallard (wild duck has very tender meat!), and I was equally impressed with the tiramisu. I felt incredibly safe in terms of social distancing; hand sanitiser was available on the table, and equally the Aesop soap makes for a pleasant bathroom experience. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and ornamented and strikes exactly the right balance between ‘hipster’ and ‘chic’. I could not recommend the restaurant more highly; with an online shop and ‘take away’ corner shop options for locals, I am optimistic for the future of Brawn!
T. R.
As a driver I have sadly never eaten here, that being said, I am always treated with the upmost respect when using the facilities when my clients use this restaurant.
Very pleasant staff and the young gentleman who works there is a delight.
I have and will continue to recommend this establishment
J. R.
Excellent food and impeccable service. The American/Canadian person who was looking after us was so lovely. The food was delicious as was the wine. For 2 people- 4 courses each, bottle of red, lots of bread and service £150
N.
Tbh the food in this kinda level of restaurant should be good and amazing so we don’t need to talk about it. Impressively, the staffs are super helpful to get you into this amazing food adventure and wine experience. During our conversation, I think I’ve learned more about my food and wine taste. Also they understand what I want and what I actually want more.
A. N.
Absolutely brilliant meal here. Gorgeous ingredients perfectly prepared. Fantastic wine list. Lovely low key atmosphere. Returning tonight after my first visit two weeks ago.
J.
Friendly staff and a very extensive wine list. Some very expensive! but a few around the £30 price mark one of which we went for and it was a brilliant red! so no complaints there, they have something for everyones budget. The food however was outstanding! We have some olives to nibble on, they were good. For starters we unsure of to get except the whole deep fried quail and we chose the mozzarella with aubergine (odd sounding but we were hungry!) both were outstanding! Not a huge fan of aubergine but the way they prepared it, it was super tasty and complimented the mozzarella amazingly well. The quail was very tasty, i prefer it to chicken and the pesto they give with it was very tasty too. Mains were also amazing The taglioloni (spaghetti) with mushrooms had a very nice unexpected spicy kick, very tasty. The lamb chops were large and very tasty, paired with an assortment of beans and a broth which were amazing
A. B.
This is probably the best restaurant I have been to in London. We will be back 100%. Thanks for making our night so fun and special. One of the best meal's I've had in a long time, Brawn has immediately jumped into my top restaurants in London. It has a wonderful atmosphere and a brilliant kitchen team.
D. B.
Great wine selection. Incredible food. What's b not to like?
N. B.
Would be five stars for the food, but I deducted one third of a star for each of three failings: first, the nibble we ordered, some anchovies in olive oil, should have come quickly, rather than with the starters. Second, and partly as a result of the above, I was left without any food at all for half an hour. My wife was given bread but, despite the fact that I had said I was allergic to gluten, no effort was made to bring me anything, which is not acceptable in a restaurant of this calibre. Third, knowing that I could not have the bread, the staff should have steered me away from the anchovies and the mussel starter, which both required bread to mop up the juices.
In fact, I would normally knock half a point of for not taking Amex, but 3.5 stars would be too low for this restaurant.
Having said all that, every dish was excellent in its own way - original, fantastic taste and texture and (with the minor exception of the parsnips under the smoke eel and bacon) each ingredient really added to the whole.
The value of the food was excellent. The wine list was long but it did seem that it was slightly overpriced - but, overall, the meal itself was excellent value for its quality. I'll just have to remember to bring my own bread should I return.
P. C.
What a fantastic meal I’ve just shared. It’s such a special place to eat every time. Big thank you!!
J. J. S.
Such amazing food and lovely staff!
R. B.
Probably a bit overrated for what you get & hipster central, however it is worth a visit for the interesting food. The only problem is that you can waste a fair amount of money on dishes that aren't to your liking.
Service is really good though and the wine menu extensive, & no more expensive than other locales in London. I would certainly recommend trying 'orange wine', which is when the producer leaves in the grape skins during the fermentation process. Again, it's £30+ wasted if you don't like it.
3 stars is probably a bit harsh so I'd give it 7/10.
H. J.
If the great food, awesome wine list and buzzing atmosphere don't tick all the boxes, you can be suddenly that the friendly and knowledgeable staff will! Truly sensational. The daily.menu highlighting the importance of fresh produce this is everything a restaurant should be and more.
C. M.
⭐️ Perfect ! ⭐️ The place is nice and cosy. The food is REALLY GOOD, we have been surprised by all the plates we took. The wine is also good!
Y. G.
Great food, fab atmosphere. Perfect place to come with friends to share small plates. Not cheap, but would be fine without wine. We did over order too. Great, helpful service-needed as menu is slightly confusing.
C. S.
Really awesome lunch here. The pasta was amazing along with the 5 plates of bread and butter we ended up ordering. Great drinks menu and really relaxed vibe. Definitely returning.
A. B.
Amazing food, great atmosphere

April 2013: Easily one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. Grilled duck hearts, cured meats and the hanger steak (onglet) really stand out in my memory. (Had plenty of veg, but meaty things are the stars of the show.) Excellent wines and knowledgeable staff.
Visited again in 2016--still a delight! (Added pics from this visit.)
A. G.
The food is exceptional, the wine list is intimidating but the staff aren’t patronising if you need help- most of it is natural / organic. Order as many starters as you can eat and order the meaty bread (I can never remember the name of) twice.
R. K.
This is obviously a well liked resteraunt by locals. Very busy when we arrive at 930pm. The food was very good but when we got there there were several things not available from the menu and when we ordered wine again there were no bottles left. However we had lamb and pasta dishes and they were very nice. There was a huge wine list to choose from. Overall for wine and meal ot was £160 for 3 of us.
V. G.
Nice ambiance and overall attentive and kind service. Food is reasonably priced for the quality of the ingredients used and portion size; however, several dishes were literally inundated with oil (sfincione, raw scallops) or double cream (chocolate mousse). This resulted in an unnecessary and unpleasant greasy feeling. I honestly wonder why they have been executed this way considering the high standard of the main ingredients.
Z. D.
One of the best meal's I've had in a long time, Brawn has immediately jumped into my top restaurants in London. It has a wonderful atmosphere and a brilliant kitchen team.
C. M.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere paired with really decent food and interesting wine. Reasonably priced for the quality of produce. We would definitely go again, great for a quite midweek meal.
J. S.
Food was tasty and well seasoned, wine was good. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe and it is really comfy. The only criticism is that more attention should be paid to the desserts - the panna cotta was miniscule compared to the tiramisu, whilst it is much cheaper to make the former and thus overpriced at 8 quid.
R. R.
A fantastic chef restaurant - every meal there is a different experience. Always the freshest and best ingredients. You see the whole kitchen staff cooking in front of you. Tables are a bit cramped but overall it is a wonderful gourmet experience.
D. B.
A perfect dinner after a troublesome day- Wes and Anna were so warm, thoughtful, and friendly and made the evening special. Anna's passion for and knowledge of wine rare to find and led us to some interesting new finds. All the rest of the team that we encountered were lovely too. Food exceptionally tasty- the pink fir ravioli and gougeres best things I've eaten in a long time. Thanks thanks
Y. L.
amazing birthday lunch.simple as that.thanks.
A. B.
Great ambiance and food - the sardines (save some bread for this) and pumpkin were great starter dishes, the duck main and potato ravioli main were also v good. Large wine list as well
J. H.
I don't come out this way often, and as a boring and very unhip middle aged man I felt slightly out of place, but have to admit this is a restaurant which is really sure of itself. The food is all very well executed down to the last detail - even the simple green salad - in fact even the butter - all really full of flavour. I resented sharing the tagliatelle with chanterelles and black trumpet mushrooms: it had great texture and was full of flavour. The mushrooms had been sensitively handled - I know from experience it's harder than you might think to sautée some types of wild mushrooms to just the right point.
The wine list leans a lot towards the hip side of things - natural wines (a label they didn't seem to like me applying, preferring "made with ambient yeast" - in fairness I suppose natural is a bit vague) and a lot of skin contact whites (as opposed to referring to them as orange wines). Plus a pet nat or two, the one instance in which they seemed prepared to use the common name. I was almost disappointed they hadn't gone with a more niche synonym like "ancestral method". Whether these kinds of wine are your thing or not, the staff really knew what they were talking about, and we leaned heavily on them for guidance as these are slightly uncharted waters for me. We ended up with a slightly funky (in a good way) Cabernet Franc from the Loire which was biodynamic and spontaneously fermented. Some rustic farmyard character (which may not be everyone's thing, but as a cider fan I quite like) on the nose, but still fresh, fruity and with good acidity. Very drinkable, and went well with the food - especially the mushrooms.
Oh and it seems to be a bit of a celebrity haunt as well, one very well know actress was at the table next to ours, and a guy at the bar told us another celeb had been turned away earlier for not having a reservation. So you probably do need to reserve here, even if you are famous.
K. C.
Yummy! Neighbourhood restaurant with excellent, original dishes. To my taste it sometimes was a tad too salty, but hey, it was +30C, I needed the extra salt. Relaxed, unasuming atmosphere with very helpfull and friendly staff. The cook brings the food to your table herselve. Impressive winelist. Excellent value for money.
k. s.
Outstanding food. Service was great. Many Thanks!!!
C. K.
Very high quality ingredients. But I thought the Prix fixe Sunday lunch was a bit overpriced at £28pp + gratuity compared to what other restaurants in London offer & given the fact that the same food is served to the whole table in fairly modest quantities (so in a way it is like a glorified canteen with no selection; a third of tables was empty despite the busy location). Free sparkling and still water constantly refilled from the bar bar, which was a nice touch. I was very pleased with the quality though, it would be interesting to try for dinner.
S. W.
Lovely food (the parmigiano fritters are heavenly) and a seriously wine-nerd-friendly drinks menu--plus great service! Our anniversary dinner exceeded our high expectations.
R. G.
French and Brawn is worth a visit whether you’re looking for a full grocery shop or just for a snack or meal from the the deli! I grew up shopping at French and Brawn for groceries 20 years ago. Now my friend and I always stop for lunch when we return to Camden for a visit. They have the best wraps, sandwiches, and hot soup and the staff are always so nice and helpful. The pastries, muffins, and cookies are the best - we always take some home with us on our last day!
C. F. C. L.
The food was all cooked to perfection, however it was massively under-seasoned. The wine was tasty and the service was friendly. The room itself is lacking something to make it feel like a really special experience for the price.
S. X.
Great experience at this little local gem. The food is fresh and the menu is a nice balance of traditional and creative dishes. The service is great too, cannot fault it.
A. R.
Number one restaurant in London! Lucky we live nearby. Amazing food, natural wines & most importantly a passionate and great team. If you only have one restaurant to visit......... no brainier!
c. h.
Fantastic paris bistro vibes. Simple and elegant flavours. Excellent wine and service.
Small criticism, we asked for a £45 bottle of wine which was sold out. Simply aaked for a recommended replacement for a similae price. Turned out to be £75 at the end of the meal. Didnt dapen the experience as it was fantastic. Others might be upset.
E. G.
Superb food in a cosy, informal atmosphere. Some tables are right next to the a massive kitchen table where you can watch the staff cut the meat and add the final touch to the dishes. The crowd consists mostly of locals, staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.
A. V.
Excellent service, wine recommendations and lovely fresh dishes. Great for meat eaters but vegetarians need not be put off as there are plenty of meatless dishes to choose from.
T. C.
It is important to issue a certain caveat here: the food we had was great.
Sadly, we booked a table for 9:30 pm. We ordered right away only to find out that 6 of the also 20 dishes were no longer available.
I understand that restaurants run out ingredients but doing so on a Saturday night is poor restaurant management. As a customer, I left short of £180 (3 pers) not having tried the dishes of my choice.
Restaurants in London take Londoners for granted. Its disgusting to have to book restaurants months in advance only to be snubbed and left disappointed.
E. C.
Went for the Sunday set menu (3 course at £28 with oysters for an extra £10 - decent value for money). Food was delicious, service was fast and efficient and the waiters were the type that leave you alone unless you need them. Highly recommend.

Natural non filtered wine is not my thing but they made me try really good ones! Food is genuine and tasty. Staff knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Want to go back!
K. V.
It's been about four months since I had dinner at Brawn, and I still think of it every once in a while. There's really just something to be said about a kitchen that knows exactly how to add salt to a dish, and paces the meal in a way that simultaneously generates calm and excitement. Thank you for a memorable evening.
C. M.
Setting is relaxed and kind of kinfolky minimal. Service was lovely, and then the food is some of the best I've had in London. Great quality ingredients well combined and cooked in the best way... Simply. So simply that you think there must be some kind of chefy trick that you're not picking up on. But there isn't. It's just great plates of food. Wine can be expensive, but as with any really decent restaurant, they stand by their house wine. So a great meal doesn't need to cost a fortune.
T. D.
Really tasty menu that gets updated regularly and extensive wine list. Service is great as well. One of our favorite restaurants in London.
T. B.
Stunning food - if you like offal and that sort of thing. So you need to be a little adventurous.
Great selections of wine too. The only issue is that it can be hard to get a table.
E. R.
First came here back in 2015 and returned last night. Happy to say it is still fantastic. Brilliant service and food. I remembered the lovely toiletries in the loos from when I came before and they are still there!
T. C.
Food was tasty, service was good and staff were friendly. Place has nice atmosphere, and their wine list is huge.
Recommended.
E. W.
A charmingly elegant place to eat. The wine was lovely and the food delicious - had some of the best burrata I've had here: incredibly creamy and tasty.
G. H.
Fantastic evening with a couple of negronis at the Birdcage followed by a superlative dinner at Brawn. Fantastic restaurant using superb fresh produce, short menu, well informed staff and excellent wines! Well worth a visit
I. G.
Cozy and friendly atmosphere. Every dish we tasted was outstanding. Fresh food, classic recipes with a twist. Worth exploring!
O. M.
One of the best meals I have had in London! The food was delicious, the atmosphere vibrant, the space simple but cosy. Cannot recommend enough!
B. #.
Flexible menu that allows for multiple small plates or traditional starter, main, dessert approach. Pleasing to see more fish and vegetarian options on the menu now, compared to when Brawn first opened.
P. M.
Great food service and wine as always
M. S.
This is my favourite restaurant in London: excellent food, a refined but unobtrusive atmosphere, friendly service. The only knock is that sometimes half the menu is unavailable.
C. C.
Excellent food and fantastic service. The place has a nice vibe too, with lighting that isn’t offensive, meaning you get to enjoy your meal rather than want to run away.
L. J.
went for a coktail before heading to another restaurant. food looks scrumptious and seasonal. impecable service at the bar. wine list amazing.
E. P.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff. Definitely one of our favourite date night restaurants.

Stumbled into this restaurant by accident, and I can’t wait to go back!
Absolutely delicious food, graceful service and lovely atmosphere.
Highly recommend!
T. B. K.
Food was good and tasty, service was good and staff were friendly and nice. Place has nice atmosphere, and their wine list is huge. Recommend

nice atmosphere, good drinks. it's worth to try the home made ginger lemonade, it's great! unfortunately i haven't had a chance to try the food - yet - but it looks good!

Brawn is a very pleasant modern French bistro, at the western end of Columbia Road, famous for its flower market- and very worth the trip even on non-market days. In fact, I suggest you go on a weekday to better enjoy its tranquil charm.
However, on Sundays at lunch there is a very good deal on the food, with a chicken to share, generous starters and sides for under 30GBP a head -minus wine.
And the wine is not playing second fiddles here- the management of brawn is the same as wine bars Soif and Terroir, and it has created a solid selection of (mostly Old World) natural, biodynamic wines for all tastes and on a reasonable price range.
My personal food favourites include the scotch egg, the mackerel and beetroot salad and the roast chicken which is also on the lunch deal!
F. S.
Had a delightful meal here with some local friends while visiting Shoreditch/London. It's not an obvious location, tucked away from the more bustling areas, so all the more pleased to have found it. The wine selection was impressive, and paired nicely with the cured meats plate. But the buttery foie gras—which you can't purchase in California—was the crown jewel.
K. C.
Busy place that slips past minimalist and lands at a bit scruffy and basic. Food is interesting and is OK but doesn't reach wonderful. Prices are middle of the road. Service was good.
j. m.
Easily my fav restaurant in the east. Vibrant dining room, amazing seasonal produce and regularly changing menu, matched with a banging wine list. Be sure to check out Sunday lunch !!!!
G. W.
A beautiful, sunny afternoon with friends, eating thoroughly delicious food, in a pleasant space, being looked after by personable and efficient staff. Well done Brawn.
I am looking forward to another visit.
O. K.
We had such a great experience at Brawn. Friendly, helpful staff and incredible food. A little bit of an expensive meal but worth every penny. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.
A. C.
Simply amazing. Service is really good, food is excellent. Their wine list is long and fabulous! I highly recommand this place.
J. M.
Another wonderful meal at Brawn. Always tasty, great service and lovely wines. Highly recommended!
R. W.
Excellent food. Service was a bit lacking im personability but ambiance is hip yet unassuming and relaxed. Outstanding meal overall.
E. T.
For me, the best restaurant in Hackney. Great for lunch, great for dinner. Top ingredients cooked perfectly with a great wine list and the staff are top.
B. W.
Just wow. Came with some friends and had a wonderful meal. Small plates of some really powerful tastes. Highly recommended.
A. J.
Large buffet. Reasonable Priced. Food all nice with plenty variety. Only con is that it is so busy you sometimes have quite a wait for a table.
C. H.
Food was excellent, anchovies being a particular highlight. I also really enjoyed their wine recommendatuons. Top night!
m. m.
Lovely food, nice wines, great location and friendly staff. Family friendly too! One of our favourite!

Fantastic food, incredible wine selection, great atmosphere. All restaurants should feel like this.
D. D.
Excellent neighbourhood restaurant. Duck confit blew me away. Splendid winter bean dishes. Fine wine list. Good vibe. Decent price.
A. M.
THE TOILETS SMELL AMAZING. Also, of course, the food is delightful and the extensive wine list delivers! But mostly the toilets.
X. P.
One of the best meals I had in East London paired with great wines, very well recommended by knowledgeable staff!
R. L.
Every plate was delicious! The coppa, grilled squid and lobster spaghetti were outstanding!
P. R.
I always had a good time at Brawn. Food was awesome, as well as the wine. Perfect place for a romantic dinner ;)

E. V.
Always perfect, always welcoming. Wine list of the gods. A reason to live in East London. <3
R. S.
Fantastic restaurant who catered for 4 of us. Great atmosphere, visited 3 weeks ago. Will certainly go back.
T. S.
This is a little Hidden Gem in the neighborhood around flowers the meals are way under priced service was fantastic would definitely go out of my way to spend some time here we walked in without a reservation we're seated immediately or not hurry through our meal had probably 6 or 7 of the appetizer course is two main courses desserts couple of bottles of wine fantastic place.
G. B.
Great contemporary European food. I love the way that the chef brings your dish out to you and describes what you are about to est.
N. A.
Every-time I’ve been there has been one dish (never to be seen again) that really blows it out of the park -today it was the smoked eel with mustard. Divine
D. B.
This place boasts an incredibly extensive wine list and a menu that varies vastly in flavour and presentation, but still manages to make every dish taste delicious.
G. A.
Great food! Can't wait to eat there again. Love the open kitchen.
A. G. B.
Great restaurant if a little pricy. Fantastic food and drink. Definitely worth a visit for modern European/French fare.
J. P.
Tasty rustic food in good sized portions. Wine list focuses too much on natural wine.
A. A.
Disappointed overall. The service was slow; we arrived at 930pm reservation and took ages for us to even get bread or drinks. Food was good but not standout.
J. W.
Really enjoyed my meal at Brawn. Can't wait to return.
G. M.
I love Brawn. The only thing that would make me love it more is if I could ALWAYS get a table but hey, others need to enjoy it too.
C. M.
The food is AMAZING but the place could become a bit loud of you are close to the kitchen side. Staff is lovely and very enthusiastic though :)
J.
Outstanding food, drinks and service.
Q. C.
Great wine and amazing food with cares! Best wine and food pairing near Hackney Road. A bit noisy so not exactly a romantic venue for dating
G. R.
Great restaurant serving a modern twist on fresh seasonal ingredients.
Restaurant it's self is very cool with an interesting style and unpretentious decor.

Very hip and popular, great food and fantastic vibe
N. S.
The food here is truly fantastic. The service is spot on and the feel of the place is very relaxed in general.
J. M.
Cozy with top notch menu
T. S.

This is hands on the best place in London!
Everything was spot on. The food is fantastic, and everything we ordered was just a joy to eat. Simple menu well done.
The service was welcoming and the venue itself fit the rest of the experience perfectly.
Surprisingly enough, it was among the cheapest we tried throughout this week of restaurant hopping.
Such a jem!!!!!
