Reviews of Butchies Shoreditch
R. E.
Had the vegan burger here.
Fast service, clean but not grubby and friendly staff. Will have to come here again to try the real chicken. The vegan ones were okay, maybe needed a bit more substance and sauce.
Look forward to coming again!

Was in the area to try out Butchies to see what it is all about, Got the OG Burger and their Buffalo Fried Wings. The OG Burger was nice and simple, chunky crispy chicken fillet, would want to try their bigger burgers next time. Their buffalo Fried Wings were amazing! Perfectly fried, crisp, not overdone, not greasy at all.

I’m a big big fan of buffalo chicken wings and Butchies was a place a fair few people told me I had to try..
We got to sit at the bar which I really enjoyed, service was quick and friendly and the cold beer kept flowing as fast we wanted it!!
The wings were good, plenty of meat on them and the texture and flavour was good… my only grumble and this is purely a me thing… is that I like my wings tossed or baked in the sauce, I want that all round coating and for the sauce to permeate the meat a little, whereas at Butchies they pour the sauce over the wings before serving them to you..
Don’t get me wrong - I still enjoyed them… just more of a personal preference
Go check them out

Wow wow wow. Ordered a couple of times from here and food is bang on point. Best crispy chicken burger I have tasted in years. Brilliant packaging and nicely labeled. Cheesy fries are delicious and come served with separate container full of melted cheese. Can not fault, will keep on ordering again definitely. Thank you JSINGH
J. S.
I guess if you are in to KFC you'll be amazed and enjoy them a lot as they come fresher and nicer than your standard KFC. However if you are in to saucy wings it is a wrong place. Just put sauce on the side.
Very quick service, that was nice to get and they have a beer.
R. D.
Food was tasty and definitely seemed like it was made fresh.
Chicken itself was crispy but the taste wasn't unique or amazing.
Not sure if it's worth the price but will come again and try something new.
I. D.
I don't really want to tell anyone how good this was as it is one of those places you want to keep a secret......
BUT.... best fried chicken EVER..staff were lovely ... selection was amazing and the price was great...
If you are anywhere east of Tottenham Court Road you have to go here
J. A.
Great spot for a late night fried chicken craving. The Jenny on The Bloq chicken sandwich was so good.
R. M. F.
Great food! Chicken was tender and delicious! Staff very friendly and efficient! Very good quality fried 🍗 🐔. Reasonable price as well. Would go there anytime 😊

If you’re looking for crispy chicken, look no further. Really great tenders and burgers - the latter actually so filling you don’t need the fries/meal their slightly insistent staff try and upsell you. Some of their inflexibility (I wanted different sauces that are priced equally to the ones a certain menu item is meant to come with and the cashier told me this simply wasn’t possible) is a bit off-putting. But sadly quite common in this part of time.

Very tasty chicken. Would say ask for not so much spicy Buffalo sauce if you cannot handle the spice. The management here are amazing especially Ilkar, they care about their customers and it shows with how they well they communicate with customers. These are the businesses that will thrive in the modern world, fake cannot last long.

We travelled from Halifax, West Yorkshire for a Butchies as it is our favourite restaurant in the world.
Today was the best that i have ever eaten, the Chicken was unbelievably tasty and the Cheese Fries were so beautiful, when i got to the bottom of the pot there was loads of Cheese sauce remaining for me to dip my Popcorn Chicken bites in.
Staff were friendly, shop was clean and we cannot wait until our next visit here.
F. V.
Top tier chicken spot in Shoreditch. Camden on draft and great chicken that is extra juicy. Great sandwiches. Would recommend.
W.
Butchies Shoreditch is so good !
Very friendly staff , fast service and great food . Well done guys !
A. C.
Delicious as always. Had the queen b and couldn't eat for 24 hours. The wings are probably the best wings I've ever eaten.
Would highly recommend

* Stratford to Shoreditch on foot to try delicious American chicken burger during lockdown.
The skin is thin and crispy (cuz I don’t like the batter outside too thick) and the chicken inside is tender and juicy. No doubt that this is a must try chicken burger in London.
M.
Pretty decent chicken burger, something like a pimped Mc Chicken Sandwich with the shredded lettuce and tasty mayo based sauce.
Super friendly staff. Would love to eat in when it’s possible (covid restrictions).
Sadly had to take a star off as the fries were a dry, powdery and lacked seasoning.
C. C.
Food was excellent if on the expensive side but worth it. Had the Jenny on the Block and I'd easily have it again.
They lose a star because when I visited, it was chaotic. I didn't get served for nearly five minutes after setting door inside due to them being understaffed by the looks of it. Other customers had some of their orders mixed up (thankfully mine wasn't FYI). The staff were apologetic though.
Hopefully the service will be much better the next time I visit.
S. W.
Great chicken! Especially the chips! Seasoned well and service was quick. Will be coming again to try more.

So I visited here given all the reviews claiming it was the best in London. My findings were mixed...
The Chicken Burger: I had the OG and honestly, it lives up to its claims. Best chicken burger hands down in London that I've tried (so far), simply for the tenderness of the fillet and the crunch of the batter despite not being freshly out of the fryer. It was divine. It wasn't seasoned bar salt (more on that below) and though heavy-handed, it was saved by the sweetness of the bun and the crisp lettuce. Something simple executed superbly.
The Fries: So these fries were yummy out of the box, albeit nothing standout, but I let them cool for 30 mins and they were near inedible. For the life of me I don't know why but they almost became compact to the point that some were chewy! Totally bizarre... my recommendation? If you're buying them make sure you eat them fast. The chicken will last, those fries sure won't!
The Wings: I got the 'Biggie' buffalo wings and they were the biggest disappointment of the meal. Don't get me wrong, they were gigantic (biggest wings I've ever eaten!) And they were crispy. But that salty batter and the lack of seasoning were a NO. And if the taste isn't right, the rest doesn't matter.
Chicken is the type of meat that doesn't often reach its full potential without a well-seasoned accompaniment (with exceptions) and imo this is such a case. If you're used to a fast food/high sodium diet the salt level is probably fine, but for those who are not, those wings were way too salty, so much so that by wing 3 it was uncomfortable. All you could taste was salt, so much that even the chicken's natural flavours were buried, which completely defeats the point. As a wing lover, I was devastated.
The Sauces:
-OG sauce: Couldn't really taste it. Could have been regular mayo for all I'd have known.
-BBQ sauce: Best of the bunch, the tang was fantastic!
-Buffalo sauce: Pass. It had a lovely kick but was overall too one-dimensional. And runny.
The Staff: On the night I went, there were only two people there and the poor things were run ragged, so much so that they ended up closing early. They were also out of cheese so I couldn't try the Mac on Crac, though given the issues with salt that may have been a blessing in disguise. Despite all that, they were still so pleasant and smiley, so plus!
The Price: For what you're getting? Ever-so-slightly overpriced. For an OG meal, 6 Buffalo wings and an extra sauce, I paid just under £20 which given the overall quality of the food (not ingredients) was too much, but only by a slight margin.
Verdict: Go and give the burger a try, see what you think. The rest is pass-worthy. And for that, 3/5. Good but not great and certainly not excellent.
Edit: Went to Chick n Sourz and it is farrrr superior, their burgers are next level. I'll leave the edit at the bottom though, as Butchies does deserve a visit and still have cracking burgers! Just not the best.
R. N.
Burger was good but a single fillet is too small and left me quite hungry. Fries were okay, nothing special. Service a bit disorganised. Also I wouldn't eat in because there is a smell of oil upstairs. Have given it a 3 star on the basis that their burger was pretty good. The staff there were working really hard and were very helpful.

Visit: 5 January 2018
First visit didn't get off to a great start when I ordered the Hot Chicken for lunch only to be told it was off. With only 5 items on the menu you have to wonder why no one could go out and find some chili powder, unless it's a KFC style 'secret' coating.
Settled for the Original which was nice enough although there was no house pickle either in the sandwich or on the side. Chicken breast had been flattened fairly thin and there were several bits of crunchy coating sans chicken but it *is* a tasty coating. Suffered slightly with the garlic & herb mayo being very chilled although with a liberal dousing of the hottish sauce on the table it warmed up.
Fries were okay, a reasonable enough sized portion for the price. If you choose to eat-in something to bear in mind is with an average wait of 10-15mins, you may well have finished any drink you bought.
Overall I enjoyed the sandwich but the chicken to batter ratio could do with some improving. Will return of an evening to try the wings.
D. B.
Tasty! Good price and big portions. Wish the bread was a brioche and cheese wasn’t processed but I would still go back.
T. K. -. T.
Really cool staff. Only small so a bit of a queue at peak times but worth the wait.
G. W.
I was honestly really excited to try this place and when I finally got a chance to try it was disappointing. The level of coustomer service not great i was expecting the food cooked fresh to order and that's not the case. Food had some nice flavours but just not enough for the price tbh the chicken was so flat I had to grab somthing eles on the way home as I was still hungry.
A. D.
Fried chicken restaurant serving relatively sophisticated fried chicken burgers. Even though it is basically junk food, it is pretty good. And the personnel is nice and welcoming. If you go there you should go for the Halloumi fries (in the background of the associated picture). If go there for take away double check they did not mix your order with another
D. T.
This place deserve nothing but 5 starts.
The food is so delicious.
It's the best chicken place I have ever been.
I highly recommend cheese fries.
Every time I eat here I feel like I'm in the paradise.
Thank you.
A. S.
My favourite burger spot, possibly the best in London
E. S.
The chicken burger was tasty but the chips were normal frozen ones, not a great portion either. Chicken not cooked to order. Staff lacking customer service skills.
M. S.
Seriously great fried chicken burgers. The double starch buffalo burger might seem like a novelty but it is absolutely delicious, not for the timid. The cheesy rider was so good too, who doesn’t love a melted cheese sauce? Service fantastic and good seating space upstairs!
Φ. Τ.
Tasty burger but nothing special. Kind staff but the store wasn't so good.
A. V.
Ordered through Deliveroo and our food was late by more than 30mins of the original estimate. I get it was a Saturday evening but there’s no excuse the food to be cold and we had items missing.
M. W.
Was nice to visit Butchies and be able to sit down and enjoy their burgers properly. The chicken burgers are bigger than the broadway market ones and there is more variety. The ‘hot chips’ were really good, might be too hot for some people though. Good beer selection too.
A. P.
Butchies Shoreditch is a cute chicken and bruger shop, serving badass American flavors on Rivington Street. The interior is split across two levels with the first floor dominated by a long bar and bar stools with counter seats. The upstairs offers more seating yet the space feels claustrophobic.
The attendant was super friendly and provided me some useful pointers on the menu. She was also kind enough to bring the my order to my table as each customer is given an order device that vibrates when the food is ready. The menu is a combination of sandwiches, buffalo wings, salads and sides - with a heavy emphasis on chicken. Having ordered The Original for £6.00 i was presented with a good sized chicken burger with the chicken being significantly larger than the bun (which i was very happy to see). The chicken was juice and tasty. While breaded it was not dry. The sauce was spicy enough to tingle my tounge but not burn it. The halloumi fries sides for £5 where a revelation. As they where filled with cheese yet super crispy in the outside.
All in Butchies delivers on taste, portion size and service. Highly recommnded if you have a craving for a chicken sandwich. The only thing missing is more seating in the shop and sauces available to add into the food.
G. W.
Great team here, friendly and efficient. Food is always fresh and arrives quickly. Can be really busy at peak times, (Lunch / 6pm and Saturday Afternoons) but that's a good sign, surly? Food is typical London prices, but good quality and generous proportions
W. R.
Great fried chicken in a cool area. Onur was great behind the till, very warm and friendly guy will come back
E. b.
Veggie burger was great. Staff wasn't so friendly and very loud
F. C.
Amazing and authentic NY style eatery. The OG Burger is on point and I highly recommend the lovely service!
D. H.
Came for the unlimited wings Wednesday, 40 wings later (between the two of us) we concluded we were on to a winner winner chicken dinner. The staff (Hayley and Natalie?) were great and attentive and kept em coming, despite the mad rush. Protip try the wings with just the blue cheese sauce, no hot sauce for some variety. Solid chicken, solid value, solid tunes. 🐔 🔥
R. D.
Had the buffalo wings, buffalo burger and hot shake fries - if you like spice this is good, I'm normally a fan, but this was too spicy for my liking, was probably my own poor decision, rather than the food.
Flip side, portions really good, and the crispness of the chicken was on point. Great in that sense
C. K.
Best fried chicken in Shoreditch, 'nuff said. Do yourself a favour, put down the KFC bucket and go get some.
H. W.
Really succulent, crispy chicken and the staff are awesome. Proper top boys. Small seating area and quite a fast experience so don’t expect a full dinning experience. We were in and out in 30 mins, although I do eat fast. Would be good to see them add a chicken waffle to the menu. Spicy chips were different and decent.
H. S.
Really delicious buffalo wings, I wanted the award winning ones but they had run out of the sauce, which was disappointing. It was really spicy but that's how I like it. The place lacks atmosphere if you want to eat in and despite the venue being completely empty they kept moving me around. I'm definitely coming back to try more from the menu. I think its a great place to go for lunch or a quick tasty bite.
M. B.
Really great fried chicken! We had the spicy burger which wasn't too hot but tasted amazing! Highly recommend! Also you can't go here without trying the paprika fries! Omg they're so good! The staff were super friendly too
J. B.
These guys know what they're doing when it comes to chicken. By far the best chicken burger I've ever had. These guys are the kernel!! If I was to give one fault personally I don't think the addition of bacon gave anything to the burger. Perhaps they have over cooked it. But overall a fantastic burger
P.
I had the jenny. The chicken was good quality and crispy, I also liked the crisp of the bacon. Overall very tasty. Knocking one star off because the music was too loud upstairs. We had to shout to talk. It's a chicken restaurant not a night club.
A. M.
I've eaten a lot of chicken burgers and this was easily one of the best I've had in a while! Deceptively spicy though even though I went with the original. My boyfriend had the award winning wings and thought they were great but also pretty spicy. Chips were a little too salty for my liking but overall some really great chicken! Would recommended.
C. R.
Out of this world burgers and wings, however beer is way overpriced. I first discovered the Butchies name through the Butchies market stand in broadway market on a Saturday ( Situated north at the very top of the market near the park entrance.) At the market stand there is always a 10+ minute wait however the burgers were just to die for, so naturally we wanted more. (I am somewhat of a fried chicken connoisseur from free range organic buttermilk to Dixys chicken. )
So turning up to the restaurant ( shoreditch ) I perched on a bar stool at the pretty cool downstairs bar and ordered a beer as my friends were late, I asked the waitress to recommend me a beer and explained my passion for IPA and pale ale (Yeah I'm one of those) I was given a cute little 330 ml can of ipa which i thought was perfect to start the drinks off (usually these fancy pants hipster beers come in these small cans so nothing was out the ordinary , that was until she pressed the cash register and I realise I am paying the price of 2 pints of beer for one 330 cl can ( I believe it was just under £7.00 - yes pints do exists for 3.50 - living in London I forgive you / we all forget ) I mean it was nice of course it was nice but thats not the point, I felt a bit taken back from the beer prices however apart from that I had a really great time and the food was great, expect to pay around £15pp excluding drinks for a substantial meal but the food is worth every penny. The atmosphere was a bit too "school cafeteria" upstairs but I get it thats the look they are going for, like the fiveguys / posh maccies vibe which for some reason is the trend all us yuppies are buying into after the surge of east London gentrification and actually London as a whole. ( might I add there no physical menus in Butchies because of this "hipster fast food" vibe - which Is good for the theme but what is damn annoying as there are no wall menus upstairs - I had to take a picture on a phone of the menu board and wassap it to my mates as we are all sitting upstairs )
So final notes: The burgers from the market stall are actually tastier (no idea why) I recommend anyone to visit the stall on a Saturday however the selection is poor in comparison to the full menu in the store so it really depends what you are looking for, overall this place is definitely worth a try, I was outraged by the beer prices however I am sure I am not the first to mention the alcohol prices and I am sure if they want to have a chance of staying open for a considerable amount of time and actually attract more people going for drinks I can only assume they will listen to the people and do something about this (Please, please do ) . I will definitely be returning. service was also great and staff are very friendly - cant fault the service one bit! :)
G. G.
We really enjoyed it. Really heavy so be careful to don't over order stuff. The only thing I found quite annoying was the little steirs to go upstairs, when you carrying you food not the best .
H.
Came here to check the place out after reading about it in time out.
Butchies is based between old street and shoreditch on Rivington street.
We paid £9 for a decent chicken burger, fries and a soft drink, counter service restaurant with down and upstairs seating.
The food itself was ok, I was expecting it to be more of a meatier cut of chicken but they use the thigh.
All in all it's a great place to go if you are on a budget and in the area. With spitalfields up the road and plenty of choices there and in between you may find only curiosity will get you here.
Nearest station is old street
Please like if you found this helpful.
M. O.
Great chicken burgers and wings. The staff were lovely but they could do better with tidying tables after customers
G. K.
Delicious food, can take a while though. Also, recently changed the chips and made them super skinny - not as nice as the old ones
UPDATE - CHIPS ARE BACK TO THE OLD STYLE!
F. S.
I liked the layout of this place, it is neat. The fried chicken sandwhich is quite good (except for the pickles, which are not really pickles but cucumbers).
A. C.
Their chicken burger is the best I've ever tasted, in my opinion better than kfc, better than Gbk, better than coqfighter, better than absurd Bird, so fresh, succulent and juicy and full of flavour. If you come at lunchtime be prepared to queue for a while, as there's always a queue when we come. Their wings are nice too, also big and juicy, worth trying to but the sauce is just average. HOWEVER MAKE SURE YOU DON'T COME AT WEEKENDS. Every time I've come on a Saturday the chicken burgers are rock hard and dry, they are really dark too, looks like they are not fresh and have refried chicken they didn't the day earlier. Either that or the staff on Saturdays need more training and are overcooking the chicken.
N. S.
I was initially surprised that they do only chicken burgers (my fav) and boy do they do it good! Superbly crispy on the outside and really tender inside. The OG sauce was excellent and really good crispy, full of flavour wings too. Washed it all.down with their house pint!
M.
Simply the best. Great food, lovely people, fast service. Hit them after the Friday rush and a bit of a different experience.. poor guys looked shattered so probably unfair to rate them at that point! Tenders spot on, else Diabolo meat was average...
g. b.
Great spicy chicken burger, the chicken was juicy and the batter was super crispy with a kick. High recommend the spicy chips too
J. l. t. a. l. !.
Loved my burger and fries, unfortunately my wings were not fully cooked. Service was good hence the 3 stars but raw chicken is a worry
R. S.
AMAZING Burgers!! The best fried chicken burgers I've ever had. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we haven't been able to come here for quite some time but boy do we think about the food.
M. P.
Bloody brilliant!! Wonderfully peppery & crunchy batter on soft & juicy Buttermilk chicken. Their tenders were amazing, the sauces full of flavour & the burger was a game changer!! Loved it!
T. P.
Pretty good sandwich. I’ll go for something spicier next time. There was no wait when I arrived yet took a long while to get my food.
i. V.
Just went for wing Wednesday! £12 for unlimited wings and oh my they were without doubt the nicest wings I have ever had! Can't wait to go back to try a burger!
R. R.
Wow, this is a solid fried chicken sammy joint. Their Hot Chicken sandwich has a great kick to it and the fried chicken is a delicious juicy serving. Service was pleasant and the vibes of the place are very fun
J. C.
Wicked staff, wicked chicken. Happy Friday free pop was a nice touch. Owners a legend
S. M.
Omg where have you been all my life!? They now serve halal chicken which is great. The juiciest chicken burgers, wings and tenders you will ever taste. I’ve finally found the best fried chicken burger in London!
S. D.
Hands down best fried chicken in London! The love and effort that goes into this food is insane. Ashley and her team in Shoreditch are so fast and efficient also providing such a welcoming service (even if it is only for take away for now). Well done guys keep smashing it and see you soon
J. C.
Not the best chicken place I have been to but not the worst either.
The cheesy sauce gave much needed moisture to the dry chicken fillet.
Cosy place with funky decor and great service.
D. P.
From the new wave of trendy fried chicken restaurant in and around London, Butchies is the best I've had! Amazing burgers !
S. P.
Excellent fried chicken sandwiches in Shoreditch. Food tasted great and was well priced. Lots of variety on the menu.
J. R.
Very tender, good crunch, tasty sauces. It's all good
C. S.
Hands down the best fried chicken in London. Always friendly staff serving great burgers!
S. M.
My favourite chicken place so far in London 😊 the buffalo wings are epic with a very hot super tasty sauce. The burgers are massive and delicious mmmh
K. A. G.
Best fried chicken burgers in London, beating some very stiff competition. My favourite place.
W. T.
Original great tasting fried chicken sandwich! Burger and chicken fried to a light crispy perfection the same great standard as their market stall, cheese fries were a good size too!
T. S.
I love this place for an amazing fried chicken burger!! Stick w the original and definitely get amongst the cheese fries!!
J. T.
Went to Butchies for the first time yesterday. It’s located on one of the nicest streets in Shoreditch in amongst the likes of Popolo, Blacklock and Tram Shed, so I thought it would be decent.
There’s seating outside all along Rivington Street which is handy at the moment in lockdown, and even a parking spot right opposite, so there’s no excuse not to try it out!
Down to the food. Being the OG’s that we are, we both had the Original Butchies burgers, with chips. Without doubt the best chicken burger in London, so succulent and flavoursome with a nice crisp coating. The chips were great as well and it was all super hot. Already looking forward to going back and trying the other Butchies offerings!
M. C.
Always make sure we have an OG burger when I see my daughter at University. Always great burgers and friendly staff.
M. F.
Tasty chicken, tastier than KFC, but not 3 times tastier (price).
J. I.
Heard a lot about it from my friend Charles and wow was he right. I only liked burgers I ate in New York (big burger fan) and this chicken burger was definitely up there very fresh and tasty. Just ordered my second one the following day. Thank you!
C. P.
Great food, but extremely long wait times...
EDIT: Went back a couple of years later and waited like 2 mins tops. Was so fast I didn't even believe it was my order. Fair play.
K. P.
Best fried chicken in London. Super friendly people and staff, service at its best! You cant beat the quality they have on offer and the value is what makes it all the better, I'm so pleased with their realistic pricing that it makes me a returning customer, over and over again! A+++
n. v.
Delicious. Try the Cheesy Rider for 8£ !
The hot sauce on Buffallo wings is hot and acid, great mix !
I. S.
Good-ish wings if you’re looking for a “fast food” meal type thing. Basically KFC type wings covered in buffalo sauce. Would come here if I’m in a rush and hungry but not for a “treat myself” meal. Not special I’m afraid.
A. C.
Let me tell you, I've lived in Alabama, the heart of the Deep South, the place to be for Southern fried chicken. I've been to every reputable chicken joint out there, and little did I expect that the best damn chicken sandwich I'd ever have would be from London. This place, Butchies, is it, folks.
R. G.
Butchies is hands down the best chicken burgers in London and therefore the world. I actually had my birthday here too this year. They let me hire out a whole big long table upstairs, if there's enough of you they will let you take the whole upstairs. All of them are really friendly and helpful and I couldn't recommend them enough. If you haven't had one yet I'd recommend the Cheesy Rider as it's not spicy and crazy tasty and also would recommend the halloumi fries
N. H.
Excellent chicken burgers, amazing, tasty quality chicken, great toppings
F. Z.
Delicious fried chicken burgers. Some of the best I've ever had! I keep coming back every now and then because of how tasty they are. Definitely recommend!
M. H.
After craving buttermilk chicken for a few days and extensive searching for places in London, I'm extremely satisfied we settled on Butchies. The burger options were outstanding, enjoying the Cheesy Rider (just enough hint of spice) and Jenny. Further, I will go out and claim these to be the best halloumi fries I have ever had.
N.
I’d say within their price they have the best fried chicken burgers. The size is big. The meat is moist. The veggie is fresh. The staffs are friendly and efficient. If you want something guilty and evil. Come here.
t.
2nd to none! Food and service is as good as it comes. Very very tasty. Drove 35 mins to taste the food... Was well worth it
J. A.
WOW. Was not expecting it to be this good!
The buttermilk chicken burger was huge. The meat was tender.
I loved the spicy fries. The heat level was just right for me. And the portion size was very generous (enough for two people to share but I don't share anything because I'm an only child).
It's not a large venue but there are some tables upstairs if you prefer dining in.
My meal was £9.50.
I recommend.
B. R.
Great food, great prices (£9.5 for a burger with fries and soda) and great atmosphere inside the joint.
H. T.
Long time fan since I first had their fried chicken burgers at Broadway Market. Great little setting located dangerously close to home. Burgers great as usual; moist, brilliantly seasoned, brioche bun outrageous, and great balance between acidity, spice, and richness. But a few additions to the menu such as wings, fries, and a couple new burgers. Were sold out of the Hot Chicken burger during soft opening so look forward to eating my way through the menu over the coming months.

Delicious chicken huge portions, lovely staff
J. E.
Absolutely incredible fried chicken burgers. The original was just superb with the O.G sauce. I think it was about £6 for a burger and fries were extra but again good value. One of it not the best fried chicken burger I've had.
R. W.
Visited Butchies last night and i have to say that the food was absolutely incredible. Some of the best fried chicken i've had in London. However, in my opinion everything else was slightly disappointing....
Bizarrely there is only one menu in the whole restaurant which is up on the wall downstairs by the bar, which is a little inconvenient when you are sitting upstairs. I was told simply to "take a picture" so i could look at what i wanted whilst i was seated. Odd
Secondly, they had completely ran out of beer, which i found remarkable considering how small the place is and i only arrived at 6.30pm. To be fair it was good of them to let us go outside and bring in our own.
We had to go down the stairs to order which was fine i suppose, although it is pretty steep. Our waiter said she would bring us up our sides and starters, but insisted we come down to collect our burgers (no idea why).
The food is really good value, i'd be happy to pay a bit more though to get slightly better service in my opinion!

Wing Wednesday, £12 for unlimited wings. The kitchen does keep up very well with the high demand, and the chicken wings themselves are a 7 out of 10. Buffalo sauce was good but definitely not the best. I managed about 17 wings before I called it a day. Next time I would probably opt for the burger as others who had that really enjoyed them. The chips are OK but the spicy chips are a little over-seasoned. All in all you will come here and spend £15-20 on a meal that is basically like KFC on steroids. Still good though, but definitely not a 5 out of 5.
S. B.
The chicken here is amazing. Definitely the best I've ever had. The venue is a great downstairs, upstairs is a bit of a mess however. Downstairs is bar seating which is fun, upstairs is dirty table seating with a toilet door that doesn't really close so everywhere smells of either bleach or whatever someone did in there last. We'd have sat downstairs but there were six of us and there wasn't space. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was a real mess. They got the order wrong did some of it twice and forgot the other half.
Go there for the chicken but maybe get it to takeaway.
p. h.
My favourite fried chicken place in shoreditch. Uncomplicated sandwiches with a lot of flavour. For the spicy lovers: they also pack a lot of heat! Really good chips with cheese as well. Definitely worth a late night visit
N. O. S.
In a league of their own, there is nothing average about this primarily buttermilk fried chicken burger joint. Yes, it is the tastiest crispy fried chicken i've personally every eaten but what sets it apart is every ingredient from the brioche bun, to their homemade sauces and lets drool over their buffalo wings on a separate note. Great food, great tunes and not to mention they stock great house wines and beers. Need I say anymore. London's hidden gem, that is certain not to remain under wraps for long.
H. W.
The burgers are always good here. The sides can be hit and miss. Definitely one of the best chicken burgers in the area. There is some seating up stairs but it's not a huge space so can get quite busy at peak times
A. J.
I'm a big fried chicken fan, I don't have it often, but when I do, I want it to be banging. This burger was definitely banging. My husband and I both got the cheese rider. It was cheesy, obviously, but not overwhelmingly cheesy. That first bite was absolute heaven. The definition of foodgasm. The chicken was juicy and crunchy and so unbelievably perfect I could cry.
For 2 people (burger + fries + drinks) we paid £25. I can't wait to come here again.
S. Z.
So. Good. Delicious burger with very generous (huge!) fried chicken centrepiece that is well seasoned and doesn't just taste like batter. Favourite chicken burger in London. Quick service plus they take card!
T.
Best fried chicken in London, hands down. Price is very reasonable also, even, dare I say, cheap?! If you work or live nearby be sure to download the CityMunch app to get discounts.
Preferred order for me is the regular fries and regular fried chicken sandwich which comes out to £9, but honestly the burgers are huge, you could go for lunch and just get a burger and be full for the rest of the day if you're anything like me. Great place to eat in and also to take-away.
D.
Loved the original burger, the kimchi wings weren’t wow for me.
N.
Amazing chicken burgers - toppings are great and well above your average fried chicken. Ordered cheesy fries and they were super generous with the cheese. Will definitely go back.
O. C.
Some of the bigger burgers are ridiculous.. In a good way.. Get those!
S. G.
I write this review with abit of sadness.
Saw and epic burger initially on instagram and made it a mission to get here.
Pros - enjoyed the vibe of the store, has a cool electric american feel to it... Kinda what ud expect in shoreditch tbh. Nice simple menu, easy to understand. Time it took to cook was good too. Hardly waited for more than 10mins for an order of 4.
Cons - i had the "jenny from the block" burger, "buffalo hot wings" and hot cheese fries. I really loved the fries, packed with flavour and right amount. The buffalo sauce on the wings were nice but im not sure if if complimented the wings, maybe just me. The jenny from the block is a great concept but ultimately i felt let down by the burger. It wasnt meaty enough, kinda tasted more like a, steak burger with s likeness to burger king. The coating just wasnt seasoned enough for me.
M. D. S.
Fantastic burgers here if you like chicken. Really fast service for take out. I haven't dined in though, so I'm not sure what that's like.
The staff are pretty friendly and easy going.
S. H.
Good, but not great fried chicken on our Friday night visit. We had an original, wings, strips and fries. Word to the wise; stick to the sandwiches as they give some needed umph and texture to the chicken.
B. P.
Probably the best chicken in London. But don’t expect your order to come quick. Eaten here a few time now and every time it’s been slow but today takes the biscuit. Told it’d be 10 minute wait whilst on my lunch break, ended up just shy of 40 minutes! For a single burger! Such a shame as it really does taint your appetite.
M. B.
We were there for a quick lunch. The food was exceptionally good and staff very helpfull and friendly. That made up for the toilets upstairs - tiny!!! And very close to the eating area for my liking. The sliding door really need a good clean!
Either then that if u going there for food you are gonna love it!
j. v.
The staff were nice and welcoming food was great.
S. B. (.
Such a delicious burger.
Friendly staff and quick service made this the new go-to fried chicken establishment for Friday lunchtime.
Not so healthy maybe, but really tasty. I particularly enjoyed the slaw
K. D.
Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. Great place to go before a night out or for a quick bite, glad they do some alcoholic drinks as well! Only recommendation is to call the restaurant to make sure the table is confirmed, as there had been an issue with the booking due to the company they use.
G. S.
I would love to score it higher
1st visit to them burger and the chips were 10/10
but 2nd and 3rd visit was like they could be be asked to make the burgers
shame really as the first visit was awesome
C. D.
I have been a huge fan of Butchie's since I first had a burger from their Broadway Market stall years ago, and so was really excited to hear they were opening a permanent restaurant - and it did not disappoint. The burgers are just as delicious as they've always been, with wonderful new additions to the menu and a great dining experience - cool music, cool space, good service, great drinks. Love it!
A. P.
Food is great but service is slow and food items run out early
L. S.
Solidly good. Wings are meaty and moist, and even the less spicy version has a tasty heat. The halloumi bowl (thanks for not calling this a salad) was excellent - the halloumi warmed to tenderness, not as rubbery as usual. Even the fries, though definitely not "extra crispy" as requested and affirmed, were lightly crisp and worth the "hot shake" upgrade. The Cheesy Rider wasn't quite as eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-your-head as something with that ingredient list could be.
L. G.
Highly recommend the original sandwich! Had to return back to the shop within a few days! The buffalo wings are not only perfectly spicy but also full of flavour. Can't wait to be back!
K. B.
Not great, many better chicken and wings near this location, will swerve if in the area again. Buffalo wings are breadcrumb coated...is that really buffalo wings? No, not in my opinion
Chicken burger was bang average
The BBQ sauce tasted like curry... Whaaaat
M. P.
Amazing food! Best fried chicken me and my friends ever had. Loved the spicey kick and the crispyness. The cheese fries are amazing! A gluten free option would be appreciated for more to experience this awesomeness. The kimshi wings are great. If you're not into spice, then be ware. If spice is your thing - go for it!
J. K.
It's great food, but just not as good as it is said to be.
Burgers are okay with not much going on inside. The wings are good, but on the other hand wholly overwhelmed by the bufallo sauce (where bufallo is one of my favourite things on earth). Maybe I need to give this place another try.
M. W.
I had the Butchies bowl and the chicken wings and both were delicious!!! It's basically a fast food restaurant, so don't expect any special interiors but if you want tasty comfort food at a good price, it's worth a visit
J. S.
Excellent fried chicken sandwiches. I got the spicy and was rewarding quite greatly upon consuming. We ate at the counter but I could see this as an easy to go street food. Quick, good and won't break the bank.
J. K.
My chicken sandwich was so good. Chicken fresh out the frier - literally steaming - and the salad was crisp (can't stand limp salad in a burger). Perfect burger. Staff were super friendly too :)
L. Z.
Book before you go!!
Chicken here is great, with a biscuitie coating, but £10 for a burger is expensive for what you get, then add chips on top and a drink. Staff here are sweet and helpful, so no issues with service.
s. T.
Best chicken burger! It has dethroned Mother Clucker!
The “orignal” burger was succulent and crispy whilst their nuggets were equally as good! Highly recommend getting these two.
Staff were super friendly and welcoming and the restaurant itself had a really cosy and chill atmosphere.
Will definitely be coming back here!
S. H.
Exceptional chicken! I walked in on a Friday lunchtime to takeaway and waited a bit longer than I would have wished, but it was worth the wait and the rescheduling of a meeting.
They need a better system for coping with high volumes of orders. It seemed pretty chaotic especially with MealPals and Deliveroos on top of plenty of walk ins.
M. B.
Yes to this place! A nice addition to rivington Street. Fried chicken is a generous size. The skin is super crispy and has a nice crunch to it when you bite into it. Definitely get the cheese fries as well!
R. W.
This place is top notch, we had a fried chicken burger with chipotle mayo and guacamole which was super good. You got a huge slab of chicken that spilled out of all sides of the burger, the chicken was well cooked and the coating was nice and crispy not wet and greasy. We also got some of the honey wings which were also great, good size wing and the sauce was A1 since day 1. We both had some fries, one cheese, one regular, both were solid, no complaints. The place itself is super nice, very clean and the playlist was bangin. They were dropping R Kelly, Craig David, Destiny's Child and more, what else can you want. For a meal with main, fries and a beer it was about £18/20 which is about standard these days I guess, the beer is a bit overpriced in there but just get a beer afterwards instead and you're golden. Highly recommend overall.
T. R.
MASSIVE pieces of fried chicken are plonked into alright-but-could-be-nicer buns. They're tasty but for this to be a 4- or 5-star review the buns and chips need to be better. As it stands they're both just a bit mediocre.
Personally much prefer the original popup at the top of Broadway market on a weekend.
S. P.
Superb burgers, and great unfiltered lager.
Z. M.
Nice place and delicious burgers, chicken just melts.... so yummy
A. L.
Enjoyed their cheesy rider with some fries. It's as advertised, dripping with cheese and a dash of sriracha. The chicken was juicy, but imo could use a little bit more seasoning. Fries were pretty good. Pretty happy with the experience.
M.
Had an absolutely amazing time visiting butchies on the Sunday evening. Friendly staffs, first time visit so cashier was really helpful on the whole process. Food came really quick considering there was about 14 of us!!
Atmosphere was great
Food tasted delicious
Great place to take the family for a meal
A. M.
Expensive, but the buttermilk coating is vastly superior to KFC
T. C.
Excellent fried chicken burgers and sides, the only reason it didn't get five stars is because the spicy burger is just too damn hot. The lady behind the counter did warn us, but it was far beyond what we expected - it was an inferno! Maybe we're just lightweights?
J. T.
Good sandwiches, really good / hot chips, decent halloumi fries.
D. B.
Best chicken burgers in town, amazing halloumi fries, excellent customer service.
D. G.
You haven't tried fried chicken till you've tried Butchies. I'm working through the menu, yet to be disappointed. The chicken is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Always a happy afternoon after a lunch at Butchies.
d. s.
Arguably the best burger I've ever had...got chatting to the big lad behind the counter who runs it...he's done something epic with that Clancy burger combo. Bacon and guacamole are perfect, but the bun is the real kicker for me. No scrimping with portions either. Top notch. Coming back regularly!!
I. o. g.
Love this place! Was a big fan of their Broadway market stand but the chicken burger tastes even better at the restaurant. It has to be the best chicken burger I've ever had. Would definitely recommend it.
N. N.
3 stars... food good as always, your cheese is amazing and cheesy rider is one of my favourite food but unfortunately staff is drunk. Clearly 2 women's where serving me drunk. One cashier ( short white lady),I could smell alcohol of her when she was serving me. Second one ( tall black lady) was drinking alcohol while making a burgers. This is really disapoiting. Good food but unprofessional staff.
C. D.
Cheap, fast service, and lager on tap. what more does a young boy want?
C. C.
The Original sandwich was delightful, perfectly crispy, nice and juicy, the fries were also quite nice however could have been a bit more crispy, either an increase in portion or reduction in price would result in a 5/5
D. I.
There are times in life when you ponder about the deeper things in life, where did we come from? Who is god? And where can I taste the best chicken wings?
Well sometimes when the stars align and you have good friends they take you to the place with the best wings.
This place is phenomenal, if someone was to describe to me what constitutes the best chicken wings I would direct them straight to Butichies.
I'm glad to say that the friend that introduced me to Butchies has now become my best friend. Thank you Butchies.
D. H.
What a lovely place to go if you're craving some delicious chicken. By far one of the best I've had in a long time. I definitely recommend trying "Jenny from the block" great price for the meal.
J. J.
Amazing fried chicken. The staff were also very nice and personal. Food came quickly. Very reasonably priced for London, would certainly recommend if you want this kind of food.
R. L.
The food was amazing. I went here about two weeks after they opened. Me and my friend went to order and find seats upstairs, only to be told that where we were sitting was "reserved" so we had to move. After sitting somewhere else, many other customers encountered the same problem as we did, they sat in the "reserved" table and got told to move. The thing is, there was no sign on the table saying it was reserved so how would customers know? The place was quite small as well. There was a waitress upstairs who didn't communicate very well to customers walking up to find seats, or at all really. Other than that experience, I do recommend the food.
K. P.
I’m super impressed. Had a cheesy rider around lunch time and can’t stop thinking about it :)
Friendly service, amazing food and managed to satisfy even a couple of picky children.
L. U.
Upon my first embrace with Butchies' OG burger, it quickly became clear that I was dealing with a very serious assemblage of ingredients. Its buttermilk chicken - imacculately seasoned and cultured, patterned to perfection - paired harmoniously with the sweetness of the brioche on which it lay. It's signature sauce, generously applied may I add, was a welcome surprise and a real testament to the craftsmanship that went into the burger's curation. Please do not be fooled by the ostensibly simple nomenclature of the OG, it's constituents are far from basic.
With a not too dissimilar price point and under a ten minute walk away, Butchies makes Chicken Cottage look like Rashford infront of goal. Even the chips bang.
Bonus points must be awarded for the stunning branding, welcoming staff, and having Camden Helles on tap. Butchies get's an industry-leading first class review from me. 10/10.
b. O. m.
Best fried chicken burger I've had the Clancy Whigam was outrageously good . 10/10 for taste , very reasonably priced for what it is . I would recommend this every time , I will be back for sure . The service was excellent. A clucking good experience ;)
D. R.
Real good food. Ambience and decor basic - in line with most Shoreditch haunts.
Was torn between Cheesy rider and Jenny from the block. Gf went for one I went for the other and we split them. Cheesy rider was the clear winner.
Had the wings too. Good - not anything to write home about though.
Hot shake fries - like what Nando’s peri peri fries dream to be.
If you grab a table (upstairs) you have to get a buzzer and pick it up when ready. not too much of a hassle.
A. S.
Just had an early dinner. Food was nice, would say the chicken was a little greasier then expected for us. However, staff was very friendly and not busy. Definitely book ahead though as there is very limited seating.
D. P.
I might not be the biggest chicken connoisseur but damn....this is THE BEST chicken place I've been to. The original sandwich is something and the cheesy hot fries are a pure unaltered dopamine fix. Bam!
T. L.
Love the chicken burgers! Next best thing to Chick Fil A in my opinion.
C. C.
Pretty amazing Chicken Burger and hot shake fries. Definitely worth a look. Pretty good value for money too compared with a similarly sized beef burger in this part of the world.
F. S.
Very very good chicken. A nice large burgee filled me up without feeling sickly afterwards. Didn't feel oily at all. I recommend the OG burger. Enjoy.
S. S.
Food is top class, real authentic American food. Manager was very tentative, great recommendations, would definitely visit again!
L. P.
Seriously the absolute best fried chicken sandwich you can find and in a great new spot in Shoreditch. The house made pickles are incredible - would eat them by the jar! Get down there and try a Poitin pickleback
A. G.
The best chicken sandos on the planet. Won't hear any arguments to the contrary.
R. D.
Restaurant was nice.
I did reserve a table and when I arrived I was told there was no table.
One lady was very rude however Daniella was very hospitable and an efficient hostess.
Lovely that you can get alcohol too.
D. H.
Best chicken ever! The chicken is crispy and melts in your mouth. Order the OG meal or the Jenny from the block. Cannot recommend enough for a good Friday work lunch.
J. N.
One of the best spots in London I've been to for fried chicken burgers. I often get the Jenny from the block burger which I'd greatly recommend!
C. C.
The food was really nice and the service was very quick. Although the chicken batter was quite crumbly it had a different but unique flavour and texture!
M. D.
Have eaten here 3 times and have sampled most of the menu! Best chicken burgers I’ve ever had plus their kimchi wings are incredible, friendly staff and very quick service
D. C.
Great chicken burger. I work just across the road and love this place. No veggie option for my colleague the other day but then the clue is in the name so we should have known
B. Y.
Best chicken burger and cheese fries!
C. H.
As a long time fan of Butchies I was excited to hear that they were opening a permanent spot, I went on Saturday and the new place is great, I stuck with the original as it never disappoints! Check out the kimchi wings, they were delicious.
A. s. O.
Super delish! The chicken is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!
I hade the cheese drip burger! Oh my god I want to try all of them! I’ll be back soon with my boyfriend!
L. D.
The Butchies Bowl is incred. More guac, please! 😘
Also, I realise it's predominantly a chicken joint, but the halloumi fries are great. They'd benefit from a few more fried veg or fish options. Definitely a market for it in Shoreditch.
A. O.
Decent burgers. Cheese rider was good. Double burger was huge and tasty. Chicken was tender and crisp just like how a chicken burger should be.
J. S.
One of the best chicken burgers in London... These guys know what they are doing!
D. W.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
My new favourite place to eat.
I will dream about there chicken burgers for months to come.
T. T. P.
Chicken burger was excellent, halloumi fries are on another level. Would really reccomend this place, chicken was crispy and juicy. Shame the milkshake machine wasn't working
P. M.
Best fried chicken in London!
K. L.
Awesome chicken! Tangy buffalo wings. Worth a try.
T. F.
I go here regularly with feiends to have lunch. The meal is a great offer and won't leave you hungry. If you want a sandwich only, the Jenny is my recommendation.
D. M.
very tasty, good atmosphere, and top staff
L. F.
Guys, perfect food! big and tasty portion :)

W. C.
The best chicken burger I have ever had! Simply perfect, I literally walked down the road moaning with delight as I ate it!
R. S.
Other than the guacamole running out, I’m struggling to find fault with my meal there. Absolutely peerless fried chicken in a cute, clean, tiny restaurant with excellent music.
M. E.
Extremely fast delivery (on deliveroo) and utterly delicious. One of the best meals I've ever eaten!!!
J. N.
Been here a couple of times now and both were very underwhelming. Not bad, just nothin to write home about. Will unlikely be returning given the strong chicken sandwich competish in the area.
M. O.
Best chicken burgers in the world. Super friendly staff. Great location. A winning formula. Thanks Butchies.
C. D.
Meal £9.50. You get buzzer for when ready. Tasty chimkin burger. Chips a tad crispy. Gotta love chimkin.
T. P.
Consistently great quality chicken sandwich and some of the best fries I’ve eaten. Great value too
L. d. C.
Best. Chicken. Burger. Ever. Love this new place - great vibe and the food was immense. Can’t wait to get back for another burger ASAP.

L.
Amazing fried chicken! One of the best chicken burgers I have ever had, worth every penny

Their veggie options are limited but super good as well.

Good Fried Chicken. Grabbed a burger, fries and beer here for £14. Would go again. Only downside was they were out of wings.
L. C.
Great food, excellent service. The fried halloumi salad is insanely good.
T. M.
Great place for that fired chicken burger!
C. S.
Hands down the best chicken burger you’ll ever have - well worth the money!

Great chicken, lunchtime menu significantly less exciting than the evening one. But chicken nuggets are spectacular!!
A. K.
Great food. I'd love for them to get a veggie burger on their menu though.
B. D.
Bang! Great burgers and a great time. Good to see the Broadway Market crew get a permanent spot. Will be back soon!
C. A.
Delicious chicken but somehow preferred their market stall sold food. Good for take away and a small ultra casual dining space
R. H.
So finger licking delicious and extremely good value that I've been back twice in one week. The award winning wings are a must.
M. V.
AMAZING chicken burgers! The vegan option is also absolutely delicious.

A. H.
Best chicken burger I’ve ever had.
Nice staff and good beer.
N. D.
Good fried chicken at good prices, but wasn’t a fan of the butchies sauce (tastes kind of like ranch dressing) and alcohol is overpriced for how much you get.
d. o.
Best chicken burger I've had in a long time. Quick service and good vibe.
c. o.
Best chicken burger ever. The chipotle mayo is hunreal. Please open a restaurant in Ireland. x
