Reviews of Chuku's (Nigerian Tapas)
L. R.
Gorgeous. Small restaurant, tapas style. I haven't had true Nigerian food for years and visiting Chuku's brought back the love. Wow, everything was so tasty, I could have had another round of it all. Good polite, informative and professional service.
If they were available on delivery, I would be ordering regularly thats for sure. Especially loved the moi moi and the trio of stews

This place is a hidden gem. The food is an absolute wonder and it just works for any occasion. Just order plates of what you think looks good and you won't be disappointed. I went for a quiet dinner with a friend and then with a big group and it's just perfect for both occasions. The service is warm, super fast and they just know what you need (when you need it). If you're not local, come and seek this place out. It's worth it.

I visited Chuku's recently. We tried a range of different dishes. The portions were on the small side but nevertheless the food had great flavour, the staff were friendly and the co-owner talked us through the menu. The 90 minute window wasn't enough for us to eat dessert but I look forward to returning to try the waffles.

It was so good the first time Chuku’s deserved a second visit. This time on the table was Suya Meatballs, Caramel Kuli Kuli Chicken Wings, Cassava & Ata Dindin (spicy fries), Beef Ayamase (pulled beef), Egusi Bowl (yam dumplings & 3 x stew), Sinisit & Miyan Taushe (rice pancake) & Adalu (slow cooked honey beans). As expected all were delicious! A good feed after a bouldering session near by at Stronghold.

First of all the staff were so friendly! We felt really welcome and accommodated here. We didn't book and it was a busy night but we got put on the waitlist and they called us back really quickly, and they even let two more of our friends join us last minute. Also there were so many gluten free options! And plenty of vegan and vegetarian food too. My favourite was the beans - super simple but amazing flavour. I think overall for tapas it was pretty affordable too. I definitely want to come back and try more dishes! The vibe was immaculate, beautiful food presentation, beautiful decor, and a clean toilet! Perfect all round :)

This has been a real surprise, definitely a next level restaurant! All the food is so interesting and delicious, the complexity you can get from a simple dish of quinoa is unbelievable.
I'll definitely be back and share with others!
Thank you!

My belly was full and my heart was happy! Chuku's serves West African food, tapas style with plenty of vegan options. All my plates were delicious, the food was served hot and fresh with a short wait time, the waitresses were friendly/helpful and overall it was a lovely dining experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
M.
Had a great experience at this restaurant! Food is great and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic! The decor is lovely and you can tell a lot of effort and soul has gone into this place, great vegetarian and vegan options too!
Really enjoyed the quinoa jollof and cassava chips, can’t wait to try more soon!
Much recommended! 💯

Great food, never thought vegan Nigerian would work but it did. This place literally caters to every dietary requirements. So from the vegans to the carnivores, you're bound to find something tasty.Highly recommended.

Chuku's is such a cute resto, lovely decor and ambience. Polite staff. The food is nigerian tapas style and we loved it, delicious. 3 stars because it was very overpriced and the portions are small - we left still hungry.
R. A.
Umm where do I start.. firstly the food is incredible. So many flavours I didn't know existed and the tapas element is perfect you get to try so many dishes. The staff are amazing they make you feel at home from the minute you walk in. This is a real gem in the heart of Tottenham and I'm so glad the owners decided to set up shop here.
A. A.
Outstanding food. Incredible flavours and v vegan friendly but they also have great meat dishes. Highly recommended
K. W.
Friendly staff, amazing customer services. Great atmosphere. I shared the chicken wings, cassava fries, prawns and the rice pancakes. There wasn't anything of fault... All individually lovely annd drumroll for the plantain waffle,
A-M-A-ZING!!! Will be coming back without a doubt!!
M. W.
Really good time here with 6 friends for food and drinks. Great art work on the walls with a nice ambience about the place. Attentive and welcoming hosts, happy to explain the concept and dishes. It was exciting to try a new cuisine with the tapas style portions allowing us to enjoy everything on the menu, without being too full. Would recommend and will be visiting again - also to add that there is a good mix of veggie/vegan and meat options.
C. E.
AMAZING! So good to have small plates so you can try lots of things. Lots available for vegans and vegetarians. Beautiful decor and lovely staff.
S. W.
I've had Nigerian food before but never as Tapas. It works really well. Delicious food and great service.
A. A.
Lovely decor and great service. The food tasted good but was very overpriced considering the tiny portions. I'm usually a fan of spicy food but the beef and chicken were too spicy to taste the flavours. The dumplings and yam brownie were great.
J. M.
Visited Chuku's today with a friend having wanting to try it out from it opened. Finally had a chance to today and I was not disappointed.
From the professional website and booking process online, my experience was a pleasant one. Upon visiting, from entering to the moment we left, the service was exemplary and food, fresh, tasty and indulgent while also healthy. Our interactions with the waiting staff and Emeka, one of the co-founders were warm, friendly and polite.
Great idea, Nigerian tapas and well worth trying out.
J. P.
Really nice place. I've been meaning to come in a while and was great. Lots of small dishes (we had i think ~7 between 2 and this was probably a bit too much).
The staff are really great. Friendly, warm and I came away thinking they had great customer service.
Food was good and I really enjoyed our meal. Maybe a bit sweet for me but it was all very tasty and I think this is maybe just a bit of personal preference (it was my first Nigerian food so i have nothing to reference against).
We will definitely be back and a great restaurant in the area.
K. T.
Visited Chuku's last night for a friend's birthday - such a brilliant evening. The food was all delicious, loved the opportunity to try so many different flavours. The atmosphere is friendly, fun and chilled and we had a laugh with the owner while finding out lots more about Nigeria's food and the decor giving a nod to local adobe buildings. I'll be highly recommending Chuku's to friends near and far and will definitely be back :)
Z. P.
What a treat, the food was top notch, an adventure for my taste buds. We chose mostly from the veggie menu, the sweetcorn and bean stew was the perfect balance of textures. Casava chips, yes please (I will no longer buy potatoes.) Delicious. Fantastic service and the arched door, terracotta and pink paintwork all makes for a visual feast as well.

This was my first trip to London. Chuku's kept popping up in my searches of places to eat and was first on my list of stops. I made my reservation, but due to travel delays had to adjust. They were very accommodating. Upon arriving, the staff was friendly and I was seated promptly. It was almost like they knew me when I walked in. You could feel the chop, chat, chill vibe permeating through the place. The food and service matched the vibe. This was very much appreciated as a solo traveler. I will definitely be back!
J. I.
Great food! The moi moi I have to say was particularly smooth and really enjoyable as well as the ayamase beef tasting really delicious! Cute atmosphere and really friendly staff, would recommend!
C. K.
Fantastic food and the staff were amazing.
Highly recommend a visit here.
I'm looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu
T. W.
Nigerian tapas, who could have known how delicious they could be?! We tried pretty much everything on the menu, and not one dish disappointed. The chicken wings and cheesecake where the stand out ones for me! The ambience and friendly staff an added treat. A real local gem!
M. G.
Excellent experience, came all the way from France to try them, crossed London during the tube strike and had no regrets.
Service was of the highest quality, friendly, helpful, and the food exceeded expectations, everything was hot, beautiful and tasty. A delicious dive into Nigerian food.
m. r.
Great food complimented by the friendly staff! The flavours take me back to my time in Abuja. I'll be going back again and again. Don't forget to book your table, they get busy!
M. P.
Amazing food. Especially the beans, Moi Moi, pancakes, and spicy meats. Delicious. I usually don't eat peanuts but now I do. Staff friendly and very helpful. Restaurant modern and clean. Recommended!
T. P.
Absolutely wonderful first time experience. Small plates, however very delicious and interesting flavors. Outstanding and kind service. Make a reservation, this place is busy!
S. H.
Such a fab restaurant! Delicious Nigerian tapas food - most dishes I've never tried before. Highly recommend the quinoa joloff and the prawns. Lovely staff - the guy serving us was a proper gem, and super knowledgeable. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.
A. F.
We really wanted to like the place, but it's highly overpriced compared to what you get. We ordered six dishes, one dessert for the two of us and payed £65 (no drinks). Two dishes were great, others good/okay, but the plantain waffle was not for us. We didn't really feel satisfied at the end, so probably not going back. Also had to wait more than half an hour for our order, although the restaurant wasn't half full.
With lower prices it would be strong 4 stars.
L. W.
One of my favourite places to eat in whole of London. The flavours and textures are incredible, the atmosphere is always welcoming, and the service impeccable. I love all the vegan options. Everyone should go and feast at Chuku's.
d. n.
We went to Chuku's really excited to try Nigerian cuisine for the first time. We travelled a bit too, because of all the positive reviews we had read. Well, our experience would have been better, but it was spoiled by the pushiness of our server. I understand that it is a new restaurant and they want people to order more, but in my opinion retaining customers should be the priority.
Our server told us that she would recommend us to order atleast 7sharing platters. Well we ordered an appetizer and drinks and waited for her to come back for the mains selection. We had selected 3 sharing plates which she did not like I guess and immediately 'told' us that she thinks we would really enjoy a certain dish. We consented for that because of a mix of curiosity and being put in a spot.
Well, to be honest except the recommended prawn dish which was very bland, rest of the food was not bad. After we asked for our bill, a rather lovely lady brought it to us and while we were paying, our server returned, not to say good bye to us, but to check the bill and not in a subtle way at all. No points for guessing that the prawn dish was the most expensive dish in our bill.
I honestly think that we would have enjoyed the food better if we were not forced to order, even after explaining that we had a small appetite. We finished our food because we hate wasting it but did not enjoy it as much we had hoped.
Cocktails were really amazing and refreshing and okra appetizer was interesting. Chicken wings were good. Rice cake and plantain were ok. Prawns could have been done with more flavour.
I hope that my review helps Chuku's realize how they can improve customer satisfaction.
O. S.
We enjoyed a family birthday dinner at Chuku's.
They were able to accommodate 12 of us which was extremely kind of them.
It is not a large venue but it is very clean with a modern interior design.
They specialise in Nigerian cuisine but with a Tapas twist.
The small plates idea is very good as it enables you to try a larger number and variety of dishes than you would normally.
The menu is not extensive but well balanced with representation of the most well known Nigerian Cuisine.
Dishes include Jollof Rice/Quinoa, Moi Moi, Pounded Yam and Eguwsi, Cassava and a number of other dishes. Each with a new twist which I found most interesting as well as very tasty.
The menu is well presented with good short descriptions of the various dishes.
We had a great time and the staff were helpful and friendly although when busy I think they could do with a few more staff.
All in all we had a great time and I would highly recommend Chuku's as a venue to try African/Nigerian cuisine with a twist.
M. G.
Went in for lunch with my family today. The food was amazing, staff were welcoming and kind and encouraged us all to try something new.
Highly highly recommend, we are already planning our next visit!
Brilliant range of food on the menu, plenty of veggie and plant based options as well as a lot of tasty meat and fish dishes.

I spotted Chuku's whilst scrolling through Instagram. From the reviews and pictures I decided to go there to celebrate my birthday with my family.
It really is tapas style with the portioning, but boy do all the dishes pack a punch! Great presentation and full of wonderful flavour. Although we got about 95% of the menu between the 4 of us, we (selfishly) stuck to our ordered dishes. We all left extremely satisfied.
Overall, great place, lovely decor, flavourful food and excellent attentive staff. Cannot wait to go back, where for SURE I will be ordering the dishes I (sadly) did not try this time round :-)
C. J.
Full review is on my Instagram (@bitesinthecity).
I really enjoyed the food and I like the unique flavour combinations they use in a lot of their dishes. You can tell that the owners work really had and their staff is great too!
C. M.
Great concept, food and service! Very strict on the 1.5 hour table booking would have loved to be able to chop then chill! However overall a really lovely experience! Will definitely be back!

One of the best food experiences in London for years. Incredible Nigerian small plate / tapas restaurant run by a charismatic and inspirational Brother / Sister team. The atmosphere is really welcoming. The food is excellent. Flavoursome and a great way to explore Nigerian food with a modern take on classic dishes. The presentation is eye catching. My favourite dishes were the Jollof, the Egusi Bowl, the Kuli Kuli chicken and Honey Suya Prawns. The deserts are equally good. The Yam Brownie or Plantain waffles. The flavour of the Egusi Bowl and Yam Brownie stayed with me - like a good movie you can't get out of your head. For someone new to Nigerian food this is a great way into Nigerian cuisine. For those familiar with Nigerian food, I think they would enjoy the modern twists on Nigerian classic dishes. For me the food was on a Spiritual Level and I am already planning my next visit!
D. V.
I went with three friends and we ordered everything on the menu except for one dessert. It was literally all delicious, we tried a few of the cocktails which were amazing too. The caramel chicken wings, suya meatballs, cassava fries, jollof quinoa and chin chin cheesecake were particularly delicious! Staff were lovely and attentive. Will definitely go back!
S. R.
My partner and I had an absolutely lovely time at this new-ish local gem. A truly authentic and original take on Nigerian cuisine. Great if you want to try ‘a bit of everything’ (like we did). Also great if you’re not 100% confident with spice. The tapas concept is really accessible and the dishes ridiculously tasty. Personally recommend the plantain chips, the Kuli Kuli chicken, the Jollof quinoa, the Suya prawns and the plantain waffles. Staff fab and place super hygienic and clean. Totes recommend a visit.
F. F.
The best meal out I've had since lockdown. Variety, creativity, atmosphere, service... Everything perfect. Already booked to come back next week.
n. r.
Amazing decor. Great service. Love the story behind the brand. However, I think the familiar flavours were lacking on many of the dishes which made the portion size (despite understanding the concept of tapas and having been to many tapas restaurants) and the price per portion harder to accept as fair. Particular sadden by the flavours in the Suya Prawns, Jollof Quinoa. The Dodo, Ojojo and Moin Moin we’re ok. 7 dishes for 2 people will still leave you hungry IMO and cost on average is high at £70. I am not convinced that extra dishes would have made me any fuller but if the flavours were there, I think I would have been satisfied.
K. D.
I care to do cctv camera installation at Chuku's last week. As a nature of my bussiness I see deep corners, storage areas and ceilings during cabling and installation. That means I see what costumers don't.
Chuku's is one of the cleanest and most organized restaurant I have seen. All ingredients were in closed containers and dated, shelves and other storage areas were also extremely clean. Oven seemed to have never been used.
While he was thanking me for my camera installation, I also thanked him in person for putting an extra effort and care for his customers.
I will return there again, not as an installer but a customer.
M. C.
I really enjoyed coming to Chuku’s. The restaurant was decorated really tastefully and bright and the staff were friendly. I would just say that the dishes were slightly overpriced for the size of what they were, plus it’s a restaurant in Tottenham; these were Soho prices. Plus, it would have been nice to try genuine Jollof rice as opposed to Jollof quinoa.
S.
Incredible vegan options everything was really tasty and creative! If you are looking to try new flavours please visit this place!
On the downside there is a £20 cancellation per head and £100 deposit of you want to book so this can put you off!
Á. E.
Great food, great atmosphere, music (Spotify list, just great) and service. We were a group of 6 people ( austrian, spanish, german, guinean...) and all of them were happy with the new tastes and presentation.
Only a small remark, the spicy grades are on the menu but people don't remember what they have ordered...so a kind reminder when bringing the food would be appreciated for not spicy lovers (which is not my case ;)) we will definately come back 10/10
Y. R.
Nice twist on traditional Nigerian dishes, really enjoyed the Pulled beef & Quinoa Jollof. Very welcoming, Service was 10/10, outstanding hospitality, in a cosy little corner of Tottenham. Thank you M.
K. A.
Would easily say the best Nigerian restaurant I have been too. From the staff, to the food, to the experience. It was perfect, literally perfect. Chukus will be seeing me and my family again..and again. Thank you Chukus honestly, was a wonderful experience for me and my family.
T. P.
Brilliant! Having followed Chuku's over the past few years from their popup in Hackney via jollof wrap stalls all over London, and into their crowdfunding to open this restaurant, we couldn't wait to visit and had high expectations. Chuku's certainly delivered on that!
Despite the restrictions of the current pandemic, the staff made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was buzzing (great soundtrack, cool specially-commissioned art, and modern interiors) while feeling very safe (impeccably clean tables, temperature check & hand-sanitiser on arrival, all staff with face coverings, etc.).
More importantly, the food was fantastic. We enjoyed the delicately-spiced sweet prawns and plantain (which had an original extra crunch of desiccated coconut), and quickly polished off the adalu (honey bean stew, a new dish for me) with the jollof quinoa. I don't normally even like cheesecake, but the chin-chin cheesecake may have me converted!
Can't wait to visit again. If only it wasn't on the other side of London for me!
O. T.
Yet another amazing meal at Chukus. As a vegan, the plant-based option are not only plentiful, but every one of them is delicious with the Egusi bowl and Adalu being my favourites. Definitely worth trying, a little local gem!
C. O.
First time coming here. Excellent service and the decor is very tasteful. Suitable music, the whole restaurant makes you feel awake and upbeat The food arrived quick, everything tasted fresh and the dishes were presented very nicely. My personal favourites were the jollof quinoa, mestballs and the plantain waffle.
The only reason it's not 5 stars is due to the price. Taking into consideration the area where restaurant is located it is definitely on the higher price scale. The dessert which was a small, albeit lovely waffle with fresh blueberries and vegan ice cream was a hefty £8.
R. A.
Excellent restaurant, well priced food, great vibe & attentive staff!
Ideal place for catching up with friends or going on a first date!!
The tapas style works excellently, allowing you to experience a whole range of dishes. It’s impossible to recommend any one dish, so I’d encourage you to try as many as you can (we had 11 plates between 2 of us!!)
I’ll definitely be back!
E. E.
I got the quinoa jollof which had the perfect smokiness, the suya meatballs which were tantalising, the egusi bowl which had me wanting more and then the rice pancake which was my ultimate favourite!!
The music created a great ambience, I couldn’t stop dancing in my seat. The staff were full of joy, dancing at every opportunity and had smiles for days.
That was my second visit since Chuku’s opened. My first time was at their pop up in Hackney. I love this place! And half of their menu is vegan/veggie so there’s a dish for everyone! I’ll definitely be going back, again!
V. O.
Make it make sense how Chukus has not been on the scene and in our lives sooner? Everything about the concept and menu is explosive and trend setting for African cuisine. It's an infusion we didn't know we needed but will blow your minds and taste buds. Service is second to none and the ambience unique. Firm faves personally are the Ayemase beef and the bbq gizzard!! I'm not a dessert person but the chin chin cheesecake... I will say no more! Just go try!!
D. K.
Delicious food. We tried lots of dishes and everything was amazing. The vibe was relaxed and cool and felt safe
M. L.
Really friendly and welcoming atmosphere, highly recommend their chicken wings and meatball, delicious tapas which you know it's been made with passion. Tried my first palm wine in UK - we call it Toddy where I'm from, so it was real nice to be able to drink something so similar in Malaysia! Both palm wine and chapman are so refreshing, perfect summer drinks.
L. O.
The food was really good, the atmosphere was inviting, staff were friendly and polite ( making accommodations for situations that were unexpected). Definitely going back!
I would suggest if going with more than 1 person, try to book before hand. It can quite busy.
J. B.
10/10 - so pleased we found this place! Food was unreal (I had to order one dish twice and would have ordered a third if I wasn't so full), staff were so friendly which really added value to the whole experience. Will go again and recommending to everyone!
T. H.
Amazing food and excellent staff. High chairs available. Music a little loud if you want to chat lots, but staff were very accommodating!
T. W.
I was lucky enough to sample most of the menu. The moin moin was a bit too soft for my liking but everything else was a party in my mouth! I highly recommend the suya meatballs, the beans and the chin chin cheesecake. The plates are small but you won't leave feeling hungry!
I loved the friendliness of the staff and their covid procedures - you're greeted at the door by warm smiles as if you're seeing old friends. They then get one of you to register, check your temperature and give you hand sanitizer. Tables are spaced out and divided so there's no danger of contamination.
Lovely bright, homely restaurant with beautiful food! I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu
c. e.
Everything was delicious, even though we are not vegan, the vegan cassava fries, moi moi and the egusi bowl stole the show.
Highly recommend!
S. G.
Great menu, plenty of veg and vegan options though my personal favourite were the suya meatballs. Pleasant staff. Food reasonable.
D. M.
The place is small, noisy and full of bright colours both on the walls and your plate. Each dish includes ingredients that will be unfamiliar to many diners, the staff are attentive, friendly and clearly enjoying their work. Many dishes are spicy, if you're not a fan of dishes with a kick, ask for help navigating the menu, half of which is vegan, the other half being meat & fish. 3-4 plates are suggested per person, I'd recommend seeing how full you're feeling after 3 and deciding then whether you want to go for more or leave room for the delicious desserts.
L. G.
Food is absolutely incredible. I wasn’t familiar with Nigerian food before eating here and I was blown away by the flavours and variety. As a party of 4 we ordered most of the tapas on the menu and I would give it all 10/10. Service was also great and the place has a really warm family feel to it. You can tell the passion behind the business and the food. Highly recommended!
L. K.
Had a lovely evening at Chuku’s. Cute, cosy vibes, delicious food with incredible vegan options, kind and warm service and very reasonably priced. Loved it <3
J. J.
Super friendly staff who are very attentive, got recommendations from them which were absolutely delicious. Nice to have something out of the ordinary near by. Decor is great too.
D. D.
We had the most amazing and tasty birthday meal this afternoon! The staff took such good care of us and the food was amazing! We highly recommend the jollof quinoa, okta nibbles & chicken wings :-). The sangria was a tasty treat too!!!
L. C.
Lovely service, great atmosphere and above all amazing food. I would personally recommend the Chicken Wings, Cassava fries and the Cheesecake
T. M. (.
A nice little gem that brings an added sparkle to Tottenham high road.
There’s a real cool vibe about this place! The ambience is welcoming and the sharing plates (including a delectable range of vegan options) most definitely did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place along with their delicious egusi bowl. I shall be coming for seconds and thirds very soon x
K. L.
Def the best quinoa I've ever had in my life. Beef stank like no tomorrow, smell was extremely off but the flavour was really good (apparently, according to my guest, I didn't have any), except for the beef all portions are really small, especially for sharing, which wouldnt be an issue if not for their prices. I mean, its seven sisters, not soho and even there you can get more filling meal for less monies. £90 for 2 people (5 small plates, one dessert and 4 beers) and not a single full belly, in this neighbourhood is just ridiculous.
M. T. T.
Lovely concept, nice owners!
a. g.
We ordered all the veggie options (between 2 of us) which was the perfect amount of food. Everything was delicious, textures and flavours were well thought out and executed beautifully. Service was helpful and friendly and the price was reasonable too. Favourite dishes were the egusi bowl and the peanut stew with rice pancake but we were impressed with all of it. Definitely recommend, I can't wait to come back and try the desserts!
M. G.
Highs and lows. The dumplings and rice pancakes were fantastic. A real treat. Cassava fries very nice and the mackeral was good. The pulled chicken was quite uninteresting. And the strips of beef were inedible. Missing from the menu is that they are coated in some type of fish sauce. I genuinely thought they were off.
Decor is great. Service friendly but not attentive. We arrived early and we're told we had to wait outside even though our table and the one next to it was free. Order didn't go through at both ends of the meal and when I raised the fish issue the waitress was shocked then returned and said that's the way it is. Poor response.
For the price 3 stars seems fair.
d.
Great fusion of yoruba and igbo dishes, would definitely go there again. If you go with the expectation that you'll be served large portions as you would in a typical Nigerian eaterie, better not go. But if you understand the meaning of tapas in a delightful mix of flavours, you'll be doing yourself a service...going. Good for a no fuss dinner date or for a friends and family meetup. Although the set up is simple, whoever chose the lighting and wall paint..knows a thing or two about colour psychology. As for the staff, lovely approachable ladies who are ready to welcome and make you feel at home. Again..(and I'll stop here), great place to go and eat at least once! Enjoy my friends, money well spent!
N. B.
OH MY GOD. 😍Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had, so flavorful. Each bite was better than the next. Food was beautifully presented and super friendly staff. Can't wait to go back!
D. B.
Nigerian Tapas left me feeling happy! A few halal options as well!
B. Z.
Firstly, the restaurant itself is very nicely designed, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Most importantly, the food was very nice, with some dishes standing out far more than the others, in particular the mackerel croquettes which were spectacular. The aspect that really let us down was the price! I have been to many restaurants across north and central London and feel as though I understand fair prices well. For two, we paid over £80 for a relatively modest meal size, with dishes costing around £6-10 with staff recommending 4 per person. This adds up to an immense amount of money if you want to eat a decent sized meal. For instance, the croquettes as previously mentioned were around £10, and were very small with only 3 per portion. My beer was £6.50, higher than most restaurants I’ve been to and the cocktail was small for £9. When I think of African food, I think of brilliant flavours at low cost, such as the many Ethiopian restaurants located nearby. Being African myself, and a passionate restaurant goer I believe 4 stars is more than fair for a restaurant that’s clearly very new. I hope to come back and find that perhaps the owners have decided to adjust things, as the food is brilliant and the place has infinite potential
E. R.
Had a delicious lunch here on my own one day and was so impressed that I ordered Chuku’s at home meal for a group birthday celebration I had. Overall the food was great and so easy to prep plus the spotify playlist is 10/10. Didn’t think the chicken for the wraps tasted great but everything else was perfect. Highly recommend for dining in the restaurant or hosting at home!
M. W.
Amazing staff, presented immaculately and tasted delish.
just bare in mind it is Tapas so portions are smaller. I came here after a bike ride and didn't really get my fill. love the idea and the community behind it

My first time in this lovely chill Nigerian Restaurant with their unique twist on Nigerian food. I was reintroduced to meals I thought I knew. I definitely would be back and would be bringing others with me.

An original and exciting take on Nigerian cuisine (and beyond) with a warm and welcoming ambiance.
II - The Food and mood
I had followed Chuku's inception and crowdfunding, but it sadly had to close so fast after opening due to COVID's impact that I had not yet had the occasion to visit myself. And now that I finally did, I can't say I was disappointed, far from it!
I was (and still am) an absolute neophyte in terms of Nigerian cuisine, and besides the story, the looks and marketing of Chuku's, this was the main appeal to me. As other comments point out, the tapas format can be unsettling, along with a price that might not always match the neighbourhood offering, but let's not forget that going to eat out shouldn't be a daily activity but a special treat. And I'm happy to eat less often outside to try more cooking done with love like Chuku's. The tapas format also allows me to experiment and try many dishes, instead of one massive plate and maybe a shared started. They are very transparent on the format and portions, and not pushy at all, so there is no reason to be disappointed. I don't find it abusive here, but on the contrary encouraging exploration, where in some other places in London, Soho particularly, you can indeed get a mini-burger for £10. Then it makes no sense. Anyway, back to the food!
It was really hard to decide as so many dishes looked excellent, and we eventually settled for a Dodo, a Sinasir, some Moi Moi, the Chicken Wings and the Mackerel Croquettes. Overall everything range from very good (Dodo, Moi Moi) to excellent. The Sinasir was the true gem of the night, combining an incredible texture with an amazing dressing and topping. The wings were also very well prepared with a sticky and delicious sauce, and the croquettes were very satisying with a nice spicy jam that I would recommend to take on the side as we did, particularly if you're a bit sensitive to hot sauce. This way you can dose it your way and still enjoy this very nice dish. We also took their non-alcoholic drink, which was very interesting and refreshing, and concluded with their Yaw Brownie which was also excellent and very gratifying. There are a lot of options for everyone, omnivores and vegetarians / vegans.
The staff, also as often highlighted, is really nice, helpful and efficient. They have really optimised the space for COVID, especially compared to other places we have visited, and everyone is super protected, both patrons and staff. They are taking this very seriously and it is appreciated. The ambiance is great, although I always enjoy less noise, and I loved our seats close to the kitchen. A lovely experience overall.
III - Anything special?
I saw so many dishes I wanted to try and, as I knew nothing about Nigerian cuisine, everything felt special in its own way but the Sinasir and the Yam dessert were fabulous.
IV - Verdict
A wonderful place trying something different in an area that really needs it, offering a lovely concept to a great cuisine that I cannot wait to try again. Highly recommended.

Lovely taste food and fantastic service. Our waitress was so friendly and always smiling. Great atmosphere. There was a wait for some dishes but we were made aware in advance that the dishes would come once they were ready. I loved the contemporary style of the Nigerian dishes. The cheesecake was everything!
J. D.
Staff were super friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. So welcoming. Food was really nice. Had the plantain waffle, quinoa jollof and egusi bowl. Just wish there was more of it lol
D. K.
Tasty Tapas style Nigerian fare, Great vibe, Amazing Afrobeats, Excellent Service... What's not to love?
M. M.
Great food, gorgeous interior and amazing atmosphere!
I'd not tried Nigerian food before so didn't know what to expect but I was not disappointed. The Moi Moi was my favourite and I had delicious Yam Brownies for dessert.
The tapas style was perfect as it meant I tried 6 different dishes. Great selection of vegan options too, that was a pleasant surprise! I will definitely be back and bringing more friends with me to try it out.
Staff were so polite and friendly which can make all the difference! Can't wait to be back and try more 💃

I’m a Nigerian and I have been here twice as well as purchased a chop, chat, chill box.
Have to say this is a great restaurant. I’m really happy to see Nigerian food not only made this well, but with excellent twists that can appeal to a wide audience. Presentation is also exquisite. I hope in the future we will see a change in the menu to incorporate some other Nigerian classics yam porridge etc.
My only issue is the price. I think it’s a little expensive for outside central london. Although I wonder if this a post Covid issue, it’s hard to justify the cost per head as it currently stands. A tweak on the prices to make the average meal price a bit more reasonable and Chuku’s will be unstoppable.

Had such a wonderful eve! From before we'd even stepped into the venue we were greeted with smiles from staff. They were super friendly and had such great energy it made me want to join the team. We initially ordered 5 dishes to share between 2, but before we'd even finished them we knew we needed more as it was so delicious. All in all we had 11 dishes and each one was brilliant. Flavours were perfectly balanced, ingredients tasted fresh and high quality & great attention to detail. The venue has been finished so well, it feels special and fancy but with an unpretentious & chilled atmosphere. So happy to have a new local favourite restaurant!
C. A.
Outstanding food, atmosphere and overall experience!
Being my first time trying Nigerian food I loved the small sharing plates setting - you get to try all the different flavours this tasty cuisine has to offer (p.s. save some space for dessert - the chinchin cheesecake is delicious).
Lots of vegan and gluten free options - the menu is very well designed separating vegan and meat/fish options clearly.
Top-notch covid safety measures with hand sanitising station by the door and dividers at each table.
10/10 would recommend! We’ll definitely be back x

Amazing food, great service and super good vibes all over! Just found this place by accident and will def come back.

Loved everything about Chuku's - food was tasty, drinks were nice and the story of the place is admirable. Will be returning soon
B. T.
Never had Nigerian food before so this was a great first experience. The flavours were so different to what I was expecting which was part of what made it so great. The service was also excellent, despite the fact that it was rammed the staff took the time to check in and answer questions. Couldn't recommend more highly.
S. O.
Fantastic food- exceeded expectations!
M. S.
Great tasting food. Really enjoyed the infusion of the desserts!
i. T.
Delicious, flavourful and a great variety of vegan options. A slice into Nigerian cuisine, super friendly family-run restaurant with personality. Leave you craving more after, highly recommend it.
M. N.
The food, the service, location - there is nothing little about Chuku's. My partner and I enjoyed the culture infused tapas, and the big flavours in each dish. Congratulations on the progress you have made over the years, Nigerian tapas are the future of cuisine!
A. A.
Faultless experience! Welcoming, relaxed atmosphere combined with totally delicious food. The team were extremely welcoming, the food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Love the decor and music. Travelled across London to give this a try with my family and very much worth it. All of the seasoning and flavour right here! Yum!
M. G.
I knew Chuku's from when they were running a pop up in Brick Lane. Their spirit and food was as amazing back then as it is now! I visited their restaurant in Tottenham and everything was excellent. The staff was chatty and friendly, helping my partner with his order (milk and egg allergy). We felt well taken care of. Chuku's tapas are exceptional. My partner refused to look at me, because 'the food was too serious to get distracted'.
Food texture and seasoning was just right. I think our favourite dish was honey & suya prawns. Really good variety for vegetarians, vegans and people with dietary restrictions. Tangy flavour lovers - palm wine is the best drink you'd ever have. Really glad to re-visited and definitely will be back sometime! I don't know what else to say, anybody who ever finds themselves around North London must check that place out for themselves. They really worked hard for it and they deserve all the attention from all the foodies out there. They'll feed your bodies real good :)
N. F.
Super delicious! We had all the menu items and loved every single one. I really like the tapas concept so that you can Try a bit of everything with a group of friends whilst chatting. The cocktails were all very tasty, we had all 3 of them. Will definitely be back!
S. R.
Amazing! Slightly sceptical that nationwide delivery was possible (we’re in Edinburgh!), we gave it a go anyway. What a result! The kit arrived (on time), foil packaged and still ‘fridge cool’. All dishes were soundly packaged and fully intact. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. The food was excellent and one of the most novel taste experiences we’ve had in ages. And don’t miss the QR code to complete the chop-chat-chill. Highly recommended!
A. E.
Such a great atmosphere and great staff. Food is also amazing, and was definitely full from the portions. Shout out especially to the dodo and the egusi bowl! Honestly I will be going again.
O. J.
Best Nigerian food I’ve ever had! Genuinely everything was perfect, the food (I’d recommend everything but the Sinasir pancake - wow), the atmosphere, the staff. For a small spot you don’t feel too watched or over heard, you can get lost in chopping it up but still feel the family vibes around you. Real family as the sibling duo are bustling around, welcoming you, chatting and offering any advice on what to pick off the menu (all of it, trust!). You don’t feel you loose out on the authenticity of the cuisine with fusion tapas twist, you’ve still got your palm wine even, it works! Also a shout out to the playlists, which they have up on Spotify in case you’re shazaming your way through your meal. Honestly, I can’t wait to come back! And it was well worth the treck from SE ;)
B. M.
So glad I went to Chuku’s today. From the seriousness taken around covid protocol, the effort made to create an inviting and vibrant atmosphere, to the floor staff who were professional and well trained, I would highly recommend visiting.
Great way to spend Sunday. Writing this on the bus home with a big smile and a bigger belly!!
Emeka, co owner is genuinely so lovely. He greets you with a beautiful wide grin, and it’s clear that honesty and integrity are very important for him.
Food is flavoured and very nuanced.
Refreshing, more-ish, delicious and so fresh.
O. A. (.
Extremely good restaurant, as soon as you walk into the well lit shop from the high Street, you immediately greeted by super nice staff, the food is excellently done, small tapas like food makes for an interesting sensory experience. The decor is great, music sets a fun atmosphere and the food is served promptly, warm and good selection of drinks I chose the palm wine, sour but interesting. I have run out of things to say but once you go yourself you will understand how great the experience is. Perfect for the price also.
E. A.
Brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing new flavour combos. Food was perhaps a little on the sweet side (probably because our tapas selection included chicken wings in caramel sauce and pumpkin rice pancake) so we found no dessert was necessary... A tasty and welcome addition to the neighbourhood food scene.
C. W.
We were really excited to try thus place, and were not disappointed. Each dish was delicious, staff were super friendly and ambience was great. But we have large appetites and each dish is super small, so our meal ended up being rather expensive by the time you’ve ordered 4 dishes each and a drink....
C. A.
I've been here twice this week and the food, service and the decor were phenomenal. If I could give it more stars, I would.
S. S.
it took me far far too long to make it into chukus to find out if it lives up to the hype. in short, it absolutely does! (its also taken me far too long to leave this review but thats besides the point)
chukus is the kind of place that makes me wish i had a larger appetite but im going to very much enjoy coming back to sample the rest of the menu.
The three dishes i ordered were surprising and delicious and i struggled to finish them but i left wishing i had room for dessert.
Do take the time to visit, you will not bedisappointed! ive been raving about it to everyone i know
S. I.
The food was AMAZING!!!. We sampled a bit of almost everything and wasn't disappointed. The waitress, Nancy or Tracey made us feel sooooo at home. Cosy atmosphere. We will surely be returning, even did some takeaway:)
More grace
J. M.
Absolutely amazing experience! The staff were all so lovely and the food was delicious - so much variety and love the tapas-style because it means you can try a bit of everything. Every dish was incredible but the chicken wings, prawns and Egusi bowl were out of this world. Would 100% recommend!
M. H.
If you are in London, you have to come here. All of the dishes had the most gorgeous flavours, great mix of vege/vegan/meat options and the flavours were so sexy. If you go, which I hope you will, please, I beg you, to get egusi bowl! you will not regret it. Also got the rice pancake, jollof quinoa and moi moi squares, all so good. And don't even get me started on the mango colada, still dreaming of it tbh. HIGHLY recommend :)
T. C.
The food was really tasty, but the portions were exceptionally small considering the price. I know it’s tapas, but I’d expect more than a shredded wing for £7.25.
The staff were really happy to seat us quite late but they were very short tempered by that time. If you can’t be civil late in the evening, don’t take the booking!
Other than that, the Mango Colada was delicious, we would highly recommend it!
K. D.
We had a wonderful day out at Chukus. The staff were just as lovely as the food which is to say they were both magnificent. Had been waiting for a long time to go to the restaurant since lockdown meant they had to close soon after the opening. Enjoyed every item we had on the menu from the suya meatballs, caramel kuli kuli chicken, moi moi, chin chin cheesecake, jollof quinoa and yam brownie. Chukus is the place to be and the safety procedures they take are top notch I highly recommend them and looking forward to going again 👏
J. S.
Each plate brought amazing flavour of Nigeria. Along with the atmosphere and great service, Chuku's is a must try! You'll be really pleased you went. The Moi Moi was delicious and I could eat a kilo of the chicken wings! Great concept, very well executed!
M. K.
I went to Chuku’s with my mum and we were immediately greeted with a smile and warm welcome. After our temperatures were taken and hand sanitiser offered, we were seated. We ordered the Jollof quinoa, honey suya prawns, suya meatballs, ojojo and kuli kuli chicken. I’d have to say the prawns were definitely my favourite but everything we had was great, followed by the plantain waffle for dessert. I plan on going back with a friend soon.
K. F.
I heard of Chuku’s via press reviews and was curious. On entrance the vibe is that of a cosy neighbourhood cafe with vibrant music- perhaps a touch too vibrant if you are trying to have a conversation. The food as expected came as a selection of small plates and visually it was very appealing and it tasted delicious. Loved the mackerel croquettes, yam dumplings, cassava chips and the okra pre-starter. We had seven dishes all in all plus plantain waffle as a desert. The staff were super friendly yet professional. The only issue I have with the place is that they don’t do hot drinks- please introduce something equally delicious!- and at the end the waitress rushed us to finish our drinks- literally standing over us as we gulped our drinks down so she could grab the glasses. It felt quite rude and I hope it will be rectified as that was the only sour note of the evening. It was only just gone 9:30 so there was still time to finish everything and feeling rushed just felt at odds with the vibe of the evening. Hope you’ll get it sorted Chuku’s.
C. S.
Loved it. Food was absolutely superb. Great service. Can’t wait to come back.
Z. B.
Couldn't recommend Chuku's more! Tasty food - so nice to try something different, yummy cocktails, fun friendly staff, great soundtrack and the decor is to die for. We live locally and are thrilled to have this little gem up the road. Shall return and leave room for pudding :) Also really responsible in terms of Covid19: temperature checked on entry, hand sanitizer given, plastic divide between tables, staff wearing visors - felt safe x
J.
I’m a lover of home cooking kits like Gousto and HelloFresh so when I heard Chuku’s was doing home meal kits AND they were going nationwide I had to get involved !!!
We were lucky to get a meal at Chuku’s before lockdown hit and spent a whole Sunday afternoon chopping the full menu, chatting and chilling so much in the ambience we had to chuck us out.
It was create to see Chukus adapt and get delivery out to the local area around the restaurant during lockdown but being all the way up in Manchester the FOMO was unreal! Hearing the kits were available nationwide this was a welcome change from the standard Deliveroo selection - we got 2 x chicken wrap kits and some cocktails, everything arrived clearly labelled and the make it up instruction manual was so easy to follow. The most impressive part was the flavours 👏🏽, tasted as good as if not better than when we went to the restaurant a year ago. Will definitely be ordering again and hoping to send a kit to some family members across the U.K to bring something different and flavoursome to the weekly takeaway 😊
M. M.
Really delicious food in a restaurant that looks as lively as it’s customers. Great vegan and vegetarian options too.
B. I.
When I heard Chuku's sold Nigerian Tapas I was absolutely intrigued. Unfortunately due to lockdown this sibling run business was closed but we have had the takeaway wrap kit tonight and it was absolutely delicious. The food was incredible, different to anything else Ive ever eaten and the Chin Chin cheesecake was absolutely sensational. Will be going in person as soon as we can
C. E.
A really brilliant introduction to Nigerian food. Tapas seems like a very innovative way for rookies to taste a wide array of Nigerian fare through creative recipes. The food was brilliant and the waiters were on hand to guide you through the food options. Would definitely recommend to anyone
M. K.
Amazing staff who were only bettered by the delicious food! A must visit for anyone living in the area and beyond.
J. F.
Was so excited to eat here and unfortunately was left a little disappointed, the food in my opinion is priced too high, I get its tapas but over 90 quid for two people is steep even for London.
Overall the staff were lovely and welcoming, the food was tasty but sadly not amazing as I was expecting and the jollof quinoa in particular was very salty.
R. O.
Very pleasant surprise! The food was fantastic, familiar but with a clever twist. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff who were always happy to chat and answer questions whilst dealing efficiently with orders. A special thanks to Anna Lucia for taking such good care of us!
T. A.
Such a lovely environment to eat in, the staff are welcoming and the food is yummy! Good if you're new to trying Nigerian food as you can order quite a few plates to get a variety of meals to try. Thankfully they're local to me so will be visiting again soon :)
R. B.
My family had a wonderful time at Chuku’s for Sunday lunch! The service, food, presentation and atmosphere get top marks. It was a foodie experience for all of us.
A. S.
Really fantastic Nigerian tapas restaurant, takes a lot of classic Nigerian dishes and reinvents then with an interesting twist. I was a little skeptical initially but the food is really good, the staff were lovely and the decor is on point. I highly recommend it for any Africans missing home or westerners wanting a taste (with a novel twist) of some African cuisine
J. M.
Went to Chuku's a few weeks back, with, I must admit, high expectations and hope. Suffice to say I was not disappointing.
Firstly, let's address the food, as it is a restaurant after all. Really good, tasty and importantly, interesting food. Definitely a fresh and contemporary take on some of the staples from the continent and that is such a positive thing. Especially as it negates the age old refrain of 'I can make that at home myself, so why should I go out and buy it'!!
Secondly (and just as important), I absolutely loved the service. I was there for two hours or so and from the first greeting to the final goodbye, the staff were pleasant, attentive (without being intrusive) and genuinely concerned that I and my friends enjoyed the experience. The place was packed, but we never felt ignored or forgotten. Well done guys.
I will be returning soon with my wife and some other friends and plan for this to be on the list of regular jaunts.
A very welcome addition to the burgeoning Diaspora food scene.

Delicious tapas!!! Great atmosphere and wonderful service. The decor is also really beautiful
Å. G.
I came back!!!!
I came with my wife and she was equally blown away.
Kudos.
The main thing for me were the small tapas-sized servings. I tried a few tapas and was still able to get up and walk out unassisted.
The meal presentation was exciting and innovative and the charges wouldn't require a bullion van.
Prospective patrons need to be open-minded and ready to be reintroduced to menu items that they thought they knew.
The 'chat and chill' elements of their slogan is greatly enhanced by the ambience: You will chat and chill if you're open to chatting and chilling.
<in Schwarzenegger voice>: I'll be back to get down.
G. C.
Great experience and will recommend. Been a fan since the pop-up days, great to see it come to life. For those that have complained about the 'heaviness' of west African cuisine this is a perfect balance. Tapas style Nigerian bites in a welcoming environment. The set up of the restaurant encourages conversation and they add a new twist on old favorites.
B. I. (. S.
Had a lovely experience. Beautiful Décor with welcoming and knowledgeable staff! Food tasted amazing and well balanced menu.
E. Y.
I was looking forward to trying Chuku's, after seeing the restaurant and reading a favourable Guardian review, which referenced the extensive vegetarian options. The restaurant didn't disappoint with a delicious range of small plates.
I ordered double of Egusi bowl (dumplings with different sauces, including a jollof option) and Moi Moi: beancake.
A friendly, chilled atmosphere and a contemporary vibe. Would definitely go again.
A. H.
I've been walking past Chuku's nearly everyday since it opened. Waiting to go. Owned by a sister and brother I thought it was only right I waited for my first visit/ experience to be with my own sister. Glad I waited and so glad I went. Amazing good and catered to two vegetarians perfectly. Can't wait to go back, although I don't think I have the will power to wait for my sister again.
D. C.
I've been a fan of Chuku's since their early days of pop-ups around London, and love their take on African cuisine, so I couldn't wait to visit their first proper restaurant.
I loved it! They've done such a good job with the space, with lots of tables for groups and counters for couples & singles, and the food seems even better with their own kitchen. I'd especially recommend the Beef Ayamase - so tender, with a perfect level of heat.
S. B.
I had such an incredible evening with my friends at Chuku‘s. The staff was more than welcoming, super lovely and helpful. We were so excited for them to reopen their cool location after lockdown and they even exceeded our expectations! The food is... omg.. insanely good! Loads of vegan/vegetarian options and man, sooo spicy and full of flavours!! And don’t skip dessert!! You‘d miss out ;)
M. C.
Loved it! Amazing food and service so glad to have discovered the place
J. B.
I haven’t really had a large variety of Nigerian foods so originally visited with an open mind. I was blown away. Food was hot, well prepared, well presented; didn’t take long; authentic; and lovely. Staff were super friendly and attentive and the overall vibe of the restaurant was second to none. The palm wine was also SWEET. Can’t wait to visit again and try more dishes.
P. I.
The food was amazing! Especially the plantain waffles and the yam brownies. The staff were so lovely and friendly. I would definitely go again as it was such a great experience were you can chop, chat and chill.
J. E.
I meant to visit before lockdown but sadly, COVID19 had other plans. I was so pleased to see the team successfully reopen. It was a sensational experience. I truly chopped, chatted and chilled with my close friends. The ambience and decor was on point, service was warm and welcoming and every dish was outstanding. The stand out dishes for me were the chin chin cheese cake and deconstructed Egusi soup dish -GENIUS. I can’t wait to come back
A. A.
Lovely food, atmosphere and service. My favourite dish was the Sinasir & miyan taushe 👌🏾
Will definitely visit again.
B. R.
Everything on the menu was fantastic! My Nigerian friends initially turned their nose up at the quinoa Joloff, only for us as a table of 7 to order 12 bowls 😂 Really good job, the savoury pancakes were immense, peanut chicken wings - divine! Heck, order it all. Highly recommended.
U. A.
Heard of the place before and wanted to try because it sounded quite different from your average Nigerian restaurant. Loved the menu items, very creative and food tasted awesome - especially the kuli kuli wings. I was pleasantly surprised at how filling the three small dishes were, but nonetheless they were good and I would love to go back again.
S. T.
Loved it at Chukus. Thanks for fitting us in last minute on a busy friday night. Amazing flavors and textures-food is definitely a winner, even tho we only tried half of the men.
We have to go back for sure, especially when people were so friendly. Highly recommend making reservations, because everyone is trying to get in and the place can get very busy.
I. K.
Wonderful atmosphere, brilliant staff, fantastic mouth-watering food. Would go there again, and again, and again. Highly recommend. Everything comes together so nicely. As massive foodies, were very impressed with the tapas. A tasty selection, and beautiful flavours. 10/10!
T. W. R.
I had a great meal at Chuku's last thursday. I've never had West-African food in this way before and look forward to having it in this way again!
The service was friendly and upbeat. The food was fantastic and came in a timely manner. And above all else the atmosphere was amazing!
A. G.
Loved every single dish we ordered, worth the trip out!!
S. M.
Chuku's was top of my list of new places to try locally, and then lockdown happened before I got the chance! Although I've been cautious about going out since lockdown eased, I was really keen to try it out so me and my bubble buddy went for dinner last night. Great vegan options, my buddy loved the chicken too! There was a screen between us and the next table, we were offered hand sanitiser when we sat down, and we felt really comfortable there. And the food was great! Only made it about halfway through the vegan options so I'll have a dilemma the next time I visit: go with what I know I like or try something new?
S. M.
This place is one of those places that is thoroughly deserving of all the hype. This is what all African restaurants should aspire to, great service, outstanding food and unique beers and cocktails to wash it down with. One of the best restaurants I've been to in my life.
A. J.
This was one of the BEST restaurants I have been to. Traditional Nigerian cooking with modern day twists. Every dish was on point, reasonably priced and good portion sizes. My favourite dishes must be the Ojojo (the scotch bonnet jam was amazing) and Jollof Quinoa. The Chin chin cheesecake was so perfect. I have already booked to return!
A. A.
On the whole the food was great, full of flavour and we loved the tapas idea. They have a comprehensive menu and we tried everything apart from the plantain crisps and chin chin. I wasn’t a fan of the slaw and was expecting more from the egusi; being a Nigerian staple. I like the concept of the raw okara, but it could be better executed. The cinnamon sugar & coconut dodo and the chin chin cheesecake are ‘must-tries’.
The ambience and interior decor perfectly complemented the food and the customer service was great too. I would definitely recommend it!
M. M.
Lovely little place with nice decor and very friendly staff.
Food was nice but the size of the tapas (also given the price of each) are a bit too small. Unfortunately as often happens in London portions get acclimatised to the London style, regardless of where the food comes from.
Really recommend the quinoa!
L.
I've been looking forward to eating at Chuku's since they opened, so it's great they've now reopened! We had high expectations that were totally met by delicious food. There was outstanding, friendly customer service from all of the members of the team we interacted with.
Importantly, their new COVID safety precautions made us feel comfortable and looked after.
E. F.
We had such a lovely evening at Chuku’s! Friendly service, great atmosphere and such good food. My sister has lots of dietary requirements and she had so much choice which was fantastic. Our highlights were all vegan (which I’m not!), particularly the adalu, jollof quinoa and moi moi. Covid secure measures were all in place without ruining the vibe. We hope to be back very soon and can’t stop telling people about it!
M. L.
Absolutely loved it. Beautiful food and a great environment - would highly recomment!!
B. T.
You've got to get yourself to Chuku's. The atmosphere, music and vibe is amazing and the team are awesome. Their vegan selection is absolutely banging - the sinasir & miyan taushe was a real highlight, and the dumplings in the egusi bowl are out-of-this-world fluffy.
S. C.
Despite having to wait over a year to visit Chuku's because of Covid, the wait was really worth it. The reimagining of Nigerian cuisines and great customer service make for an amazing and tasty experience. I look forward to visiting soon.
C. O.
The food was great, the service was great and the music was great. If you’re familiar with Nigerian food, you’ll love the Chuku’s twist on classics like jollof, egusi and dodo. If you’re new to Nigerian food, you’ll love it too because it just simply tastes great. I can’t recommend it enough.
J. T.
I went to Chuk's on a Sunday afternoon with my little brother. I've got to say that the service we received was amazing from start to finish - from the door, to having our meal, and finishing up. There's a welcoming and friendly environment that made my little brother and I enjoy the experience even more. The Stewed Barbecued Gizzard has to be my personal favourite!
D. P. M.
Great staff, great food, highly recommend the palm wine , get 3 dishes each, you'll have a n amazing time.
Y. I.
Ooooh dayam! The decor and music were great and brought back an emotion I haven't felt since lockdown started...I think it's called joy.
And truth be told, those were the least impressive aspects. The food looked and tasted like it was made by a parent who put a lot of thought and love into each and every plate. Though the dishes weren't as spicey as I was expecting, the flavours were full and everything tasted fresh (not just cooked fresh, important distinction). We were really taken in by the staff hosting us most of all. Those working on Friday 14th Aug 2020 after 8:45pm, all of them, did an exceptional job. We felt like we were among friends, that they cared about where they work and, in turn, invested in us having a great time. Infectious smiles and energy all around has me quickly seeing Chuku's as being part of Tottenham's pride. Thank you
I. T.
Best meal I've had in a very long time, every dish was packed full of flavour and the cocktails were incredible. Service was really helpful and friendly, and everything felt very Covid-secure. Thanks!
S. A.
Really lovely service, really fantastic food - will be returning asap
K. S.
Really enjoyed eating here. Love to see variation in the approach to Nigerian food and it all tasted great. Friendly staff too with lots of character and it was busy all night. Prawn dish was outstanding. Definitely going again
O. M.
It's without doubt a calm place to eat and catch up, that slogan is doing justice, especially during early opening hours. The atmosphere is chill and the staff are charming and considerate. I do wish some of the portions were bigger, but that is my stomach typing out of nostalgia! I’d like to try the rest of the menu eventually and would recommend here to a friend, ụtọ!
A. A.
Been a fan ever since it was a pop-up and so glad that not only is it now a permanent restaurant but - more importantly, it delivers just as much if not more.
Would recommend ordering loads, the way tapas is meant to be eaten - plentiful and shared. Personal favourite dish has to be the stewed BBQ gizzard - YUM.
T. S.
never leave reviews which is awful of me but in my years of dining out my experiences never usually blow me away, I’m either unlucky or you’re simply that great, let’s go with the latter.
That has changed since visiting Chukus, WOW.
From the moment we walked in,there was a buzz. My partner booked this table after seeing a tweet from the Chukus account and what a great leap of faith. First of all our waiter Nathan made us feel at home, he taught us how to chop, chat and chill in style. Even though it was busy he ensured that the service we had was never rushed. I don’t think there’s anything worse than going to a restaurant being rushed. He made some great suggestions and made my cocktails to perfection. He really made us feel at home.
Now on to the food, I love the twists and the flavours truly are authentic. I think it’s very hard for brands to find that balance between twists and staying true to the roots, however you don’t fail. Portion sizes were great and we would happily pay full price. A really nice touch with the decour and seeing one of the sibling duo welcome us with her war smile. We love and stan a black owned business. the cheesecake🤯 I want to order a whole one for my birthday! Thank you to Nathan the Chukus team! We love you!

Top drawer food and such nice friendly staff. Really enjoyed ourselves

I went on a dinner date to Chuku's about a month ago. What a fantastic place! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and super delicious food. My highlights were Jollof Quinoa and Suya Meatballs, but everything was so tasty! Also, tried palm wine for the first time - so good. Cannot wait to revisit when they reopen after the current corona crisis. Much love to Chuku's!

Came to Chuku’s after a climbing session with Rotimi and some friends from CLMBXR. It’s my first introduction to the African culture and the food! It was a great experience combining some of my favourite ingredients like yam and coconut and many others!
I had a Jollof Quinoa and the Yam Brownie, which were amazing! The Jollof Is definitely better than Jamie Oliver’s! And the place is vegan/vegetarian friendly in many of their dishes! Will definitely recommend my friends and come back again soon!

Small delicious Menu, great Staff & owner, great Ambiance / Music.
This type of places are called little gem. Recommended :)
H.
All the of the food was absolutely delicious. Especially impressed by the interesting range of vegan options but also loved the chicken wings! The atmosphere was fun and friendly too.
G. O.
properly flavourful food and a hugely warm welcome. The menu is a real treat - the tapas format means you'll make discoveries (really recommend doing in a group!). Wash it all down with a Star lager - happy days!

A lovely decor, lovely staff but the food is overpriced (for Tottenham) for the portion size and the taste. If each dish was £1-2 less this would have been 5 star. We spent £70 for two of us on a Wednesday, we had about 3-4 dishes each (which is what we were advised) and one drink each. I get they are starting up but if they want regular reoccurring business they do need to reduce the prices/do an offer.
Suggestion:
Do a buy 3 dishes get the 4th dish for free deal midweek.

My wife and I had the best time, coming to Chuku’s for my birthday. I’m not usually a big fan of tapas as I usually don’t like most of the plates but we got so many plates and I love ALL of it! I couldn’t stop bouncing in between all the food, I love what they’ve done with Egusi and the Suya meatballs. I’m not gonna lie having a Nigerian mum I was apprehensive about the Jollof Quinoa but it’s SO GOOD. They even sang happy birthday to me with a candle on my waffle, was so lovely. Can’t wait to go back.
R. R. L.
A fantastic idea delivered with imaginative flair. Leveraging the very best of Nigerian cuisine and staying true to the taste, texture and flavours. I'll be back!
H.
I was full of expectation before my visit and Chuku's didn't disappoint.
A varied and delicious menu was on offer and in true tapas style we tried a number of dishes, which were small but moreish. My fav was Adalu; had to go back for seconds!! The jollof quinoa did not taste of jollof, would have preferred the real thing.
If you fancy something sweet, the plantain waffles are a hit. Who knew that would work so well?
It was my first visit but it won't be my last. Oh yeah, the waiting staff were on point too. Polite, friendly, informative and happy. Great banter.
T. H.
Amazing. I’d been to several of the pop-ups over the years and so had high hopes for what could be done with a permanent space. My high expectations were surpassed easily. Every one of the 9 dishes we had was excellent. Fantastic flavours and combinations of textures, with so many new inventive dishes (alongside the classics like jollof quinoa and moi moi)!
N.
Chuku's was amazing: everything from the food, the service, the vibe, and the decor! I went with a group of differing diet types and there was something for everyone, especially a whole load of vegan options. I'm looking forward to my next trip.
C. J.
Stunning food, kindly squeezed us in as we were walking by at 4pm on a Sunday. Best meal this year! All the rave reviews are entirely deserved!
M. E.
Excellent food and warm welcome! There wasn't a dish we didn't like! Thanks so much!
C. K.
The most chill and welcoming vibes, and unbelievable food. We pretty much ordered one of everything and were not disappointed! Our favs were the jollaf and the chicken wings- we will be back for multiple date nights!
B.
Delicious food (egusi bowl was 10/10), great service, bit pricey (£80 for 2 people with 2 beers) otherwise I'd probably go more often!
J. A.
Very tasty food and great atmosphere, staff are very welcoming and the food is very very good
S. H.
We got a meal kit from here and it was fantastic! Super easy to cook and delicious flavours - we'll definitely order again...
T. E.
Chukus is an amazing restaurant with great food and service to match. It is definitely a spot to come down to with a few friends for a chop, chat and chill. The chin chin based cheese cake and plantain waffles were 10/10! Would definitely recommend.
A. M.
We went here for lunch on Sunday and the food was incredible. My favorite was the Suya Meatballs and the Cassava & Ata Dindin. The Mango Colada was also exceptional. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!
E. R.
Absolutely loved Chukus and we will be going again! Great local hangout that serves unique and varied dishes. We also loved the curated playlists which was a lovely touch. Awesome value and friendly staff
P. E.
We tried the Ojojo( yam and smoked mackerel croquettes), the Egusi bowl (more of a dismantled Egusi), the meatballs suya was good and so was the honey prawn suya, impressed with the Quinoa jollof. The perfect closure with the Chinchin cheesecake. It's good to see the growth from the fundraising days to this cute Nigerian tapas with a twist and revisitation of the Nigerian traditional dishes.
L. R.
My favourite restaurant in London! This is Nigerian food done right. Make sure you try the plantain. Great interior, music and staff. I live this place!!
O. A.
The experience was amazing! Food was super delicious and the customer service was phenomenal. The staff were super attentive and quick to offer recommendations. Would highly recommend.

Where to begin?
Firstly, the decor. It's truly epitomises #ChopChatChill vibes. Intimate, rather than small, beautiful colours reminiscent of warm days, hot spices and tradition, it's the perfect venue for a relaxed afternoon with a friend.
On the tables, the cutlery holders are adorned with Nigerian names, heavy with meaning. Hoped to find mine, but no dice... All is forgiven, however, because, the food.
Oh yes; the food.
I visited twice in a week (once with my sisters and once with a friend), so I was able to try almost everything on the menu.
Adalu- my sister is a beans connoisseur, and was ready to fight us for this. I don't think she understood how tapas is meant to work. I'm not into beans like that, but this dish was delicious.
Cassava and ata dindin- I love fried yam, but I am now ready to give it up for fried cassava. The crispiness of yam, but the softness of a potato. I picked this on both occasions, and this is now a favourite.
Dodo- fried plantain is elite, and no one can tell me nothing.
Beef ayamase- this ayamase was LEGIT, and if you are a lover of this dish, you know what I mean. BANGED.
Suya meatballs- spicy, saucy, meaty. All the good things.
Egusi bowl- I am ending with this because it was my favourite. This dish is the string to Chuku's bow. Egusi and pounded yam is one of my favourite dishes in life, and so I had very high expectations, and these were surpassed. Every component was prepared perfectly, assembled beautifully, and unfortunately I don't have a picture because we dug in too quickly. Oh my days. Order this!
Desserts!
That chin chin cheesecake is made from ambrosia, which is nectar from the heavens, but nothing can ever and will ever surpass my deep bond and love for plantain waffles. Order both- indulgence is good for the soul.
If you're a fan of Nigerian food, and worried you may not like this- fear not. You'll love it. Run, don't walk and #ChopChatChill !
E. S.
So tasty!! Our table went through the whole menu and enjoyed every dish. Warm atmosphere, great decor and friendly staff. Will be heading back soon!

Great Idea with an awesome start. I think the Tapas idea for nigerian food is one that is very much needed. There are a lot of great things on the menu. I particularly enjoyed the Quinoa Jollof and the Chapman drink. I did find some of the items on the menu a bit too far from the original stuff but I guess that is the idea since the Chef gave it their own spin. A bit on the pricy side too but nothing close to a deal breaker.
h. b.
Ooo this is legit Nigerian cuisine...no dilution. I experienced new food and completely new flavours...it was wonderful. They menu was different and you went you for different...that was some serious fun trying out food from an incredible culture.
P. S.
Loved the food and great service. As the menu focus on tapas, it is pricey, but for the quality it was worth it. :)
P. H.
My second visit and the food was still delicious, a great mix of good sized small plates, and the staff were lovely. They are a big part of the warm, fun atmosphere.
F. C.
Incredible food, with such an extensive range of vegetarian and plant based options. The experience was made even better by the wonderful staff and beautiful decor. Will definitely be going again!

Chuku's! Chuku's!!! What can I say? I have visited on a weekday, and at weekends too. The food and vibes has been constant! Nigerian food, TAPAS STYLE! Flavoursome and serviced with a smile. That Cassava fries with Ata din-din! The Suya Meat Balls, The Okra, The Chin-chin Cheesecake, the Plantian waffles!!! Walahi! Lots of vegan options too. We did plenty chop, chat and chill.
A. R.
No where else like it, lots of exciting new food and friendly staff, plus a whole vegan menu! I was particularly a fan of the pumpkin peanut stew and the plantain waffle!
