Reviews of Clarette
R. D.
Friday treat for a few samples of excellent wine. Beautiful bistro bar area, very intimate & cosy. Great date night option & lunch with close friends. I will be back to try the food for sure.
D. N.
Nice dinner location, went with colleagues from work and was super fun.
Food and service amazing. I had the Cote de beuf and the meat was flavourful and tender. Very nice cocktails and wine as well. Knowledgeable and nice staff.
As desert had homemade madeleines which were the best I had in London.
H. X.
We had our wedding reception in Clarette. It was absolutely wonderful. The place is beautifully decorated. The room was set up per requirements in advance. Food and drink are excellent. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Thanks to Rudolph and Laura and the staff to make such a lovely memory. Definitely recommend this place!
M. H.
Delicious french dishes with generous portions, super rich so take it easy when ordering!
K. J.
By far one of the best restaurant I've been to in London. Loved the food but most importantly the staff was great. Very nice waiters and manager. They've looked after us greatly the whole time. I will definitely come back to this cosy restaurant for my next trip to London.
Thank you
E. P.
Had my wedding reception here and I would highly recommended it if you are thinking of organising yours! Clarette is beautiful French restaurant located in Marylebone. The place looks stunning and the staff is very polite and knows exactly what they are doing. The food was delicious, and so was the wine and champagne. So happy of picking this place.
K. V.
This place just emerges from nowhere to save the day. Their beef on the bone was absolute perfection. Their desserts were top notch. Service was pleasant and friendly. These people deserve to be swamped with bookings.
J. D.
Went here for brunch and everything was very tasty. Service was a bit slow but the food made up for it
J. F.
Had an amazing meal with my friend - great food, fantastic service.
J. P.
Definitely on the pricey side, but well-worth it for the delicious and creative food and really nice atmosphere in a beautiful building. Wine list is extensive, but would like to see some more affordable table wines on offer too because the markup is huge.
A. G.
We were fortunate to visit Clarette during one of the sunniest days in London. We were sitted outside in a table for six.
Staff were very kind, helpful, knowledgeable on the dishes and of course willing to suggest specific options.
Food choices are quite limited but there are more than enough to choose and share. We tasted the fried squid which was delicious, croquetes of pulled pork, scallops (not their best dish) and bream cevice.
We were sitted outside but the main area inside is lovely and same goes for the bar.
Prices were quite high vs the food portion but it is understandable given the Marylebone area. Though, wine prices we have to admit were very high. We paid 27£ for half a bottle of white wine.
Overall, I would visit again.
A. P.
Mouth watering nibbles! Nice wine & cocktails. Chilled atmosphere upstairs, next time I 'll am for the more lively downstairs area! Staff Is very kind and helping! A place you definitely want to go after work!
A. N.
Cozy french restaurant with a rustic charm. Loved the freshness of the food and thoroughly enjoyed the pulled pork croquettes, slow cooked eggs and tarte tartin.
A. S.
Nice place and good food. The taste didn't live up to the beautiful presentation IMO but it was none the less very enjoyable and I would go again.
E. T.
An excellent wine bar with a fantastic wine list and deco and top-class service! The sommelier team is super knowledgeable and friendly - do ask for their reccomendations to explore exciting wines! Very good food, too! Cant't wait to come back!
O. B.
Went their yesterday for dinner with 6 friends. Fantastic restaurant in both food and service. Service was especially outstanding with a special praise to their sommelier. He is a massive credit to the venue. Great recommendations and wine pairing. Thoroughly enjoyed every dish. I particularly liked scallops and a starter with mushrooms. Highly recommend.
K. R.
We booked a private room for a lunch celebration, and had a really lovely experience. The service was terrific and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it!
R. C.
Had a great time here. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The food was delicious. Pretty perfect.
C. K.
A really cosy and plushy wine bar, with amazing food to boot! Was blown away with the creativity of the dishes here... they paired extremely well with wine. Some standouts were the pulled pork croquettes, the cheese and ham goujeres, and the beef tartare.
m.
Have to give a 5 to Clarette. While on the pricey end totally reasonable for Marylebone with food that was well worth it and a fantastic wine selection. Perfect spot for a date!
Service was also super friendly and attentive.
Highly recommend the coq au vin to share - super juicy and generous in size, ask for a little extra gravy to last through the end. Will definitely be back!
M. B.
Small and intimate but absolutely FANTASTIC!! The cocktails were outstanding and very reasonably priced for London. The pinnacle though were the staff- absolutely AMAZING!!
E. M.
Quite expensive, but well worth it. You really do get what you pay for, the food and wine was delicious! Somehow they also made a Tudor building bright and airy inside, with glamorous yet subtle decor.
I. K.
Very exciting flavors and dishes here. But too expensive for the portions. This is not a $$ place.
R. C.
Fine French food beautifully presented and served by a super attentive team. Not bonkers expensive for the location and quality either.
S. T.
Phenomenal. Beautiful interior design, great selections of wines at fantastic prices and attentive service. I would recommend doing one of their “wine flights” where you get 3 glasses of wine (50ml each) chosen by the sommelier. The food smelt delicious - we just popped in for a pre dinner drink and would most certainly come again. It fills up pretty quickly after 6.30pm on a Friday. (Pictures of interior at around 6pm and of wine list! I went for a glass of the St Emilion ) Ideal for friends & couples.
E. G.
Truly special place with excellent service! Broad wine selection with delicious menu. Highly recommend.
November 2019 update
The scallops and negroni were unbelievable!
Rudik!
l.
Review is for the drinks & vibe only: really lovely wine & cocktail bar with an inventive cocktail menu. The flying viking (a concoction by the bartender, Peter) was phenomenal (& at £17 a pop, one would hope so).
A few tables outside, available til 11pm at night, & a cosy indoor setting.
M. W.
This is a perfect place for fine wine and good food pairing.
S. T.
A nice place, don't get me wrong, but definitely charging too much. Most tapas plates were 12-15 pounds and small in size (they recommend ordering 4/5 for a dinner) and an the smallest wine glass (only 125 ml) already 7-9£. Food is good, but portions are small and found it very expensive for what it was.
Y. A. C.
The food is awesome but the wine is average.
A. J.
This is a great little restaurant! Perfect to stop and get a glass of wine (superb collection!). Not been to dine in yet, but will be changing that soon - excellent service and beautifully decorated!
S.
Nice restaurant with some good food. Very good staff and plenty of wine choices.
N. B.
I regret not taking a picture in the bar, and thought to stop for a quick drink whilst waiting for my reservation at the restaurant across the street.
Drinks ordered were Geisha and Cigarette and Chocolate cocktail. Both were spot on, tasted great and properly made cocktails. Well done to the barman. It's a shame I couldn't stay longer.
The setting made me think I was abroad, decor gives a warm and cozy feel. There were some people chose to sit outside the bar. It's a quaint little place, well worth a visit. Staff were very attentive and helpful.
Price for two cocktails was around £30, but it's a classy place with exquisite service and friendly staff.
I'm sure I'll revisit sometime in the future.
T. C.
Short notice supper for 3, absolutely amazing. Warm welcome, shown to our table and given a choice of where we'd like to sit. Prompt and attentive service from the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The food arrived quickly, and we were absolutely bowled over by the standard. 3 courses with wine was well worth the money we paid. We'll 100% be returning!
K. R.
Pleasant service but, on balance, we didn't feel the quality of the food was high enough to justify the prices.
S. P.
Lovely place. Wanted a cozy place to catch up with an old friend over a glass of wine and a bite. Met at the ground floor, which is a charming fusion of old school pub and trendy wine bar. Lively whilst not too noisy to have a conversation. The bottle of ‘house’ Margaux was very nice. We meandered up to the first floor restaurant, where I had made a reservation for dinner. Service was superb and the food was outstanding (fabulous duck breasts). Amazing evening. Can’t wait to go again.
M. B.
Amazing experience incredible wine, lovely friendly service. A very special evening
L. B.
Fabulous dinner, great wine list.
L. G. M.
Probably the best French restaurant in London.
Amazing specials and food from chef Pierre.
A great welcoming from Estelle!
Amazing service and attention to detail.
Clarette is a must in Marylebone!!
Will be back definitely!!
Thank you again for an amazing evening!!
K. W.
We had a wonderful dinner. The bartender mixed up a sour paradis cocktail for us that we loved. Don't miss the pork croquettes or aubergine starters. All of the dishes are well thought out and interesting. The service was good and never left you wanting anything. Can't wait to go back.
A. P. S.
Quaint and chic little pub / bistro on Blandford St.
Small outdoor seating area.
We just had drinks. My vodka martini was pretty good.
K. W.
If I could, I'd give 6 stars. Food was amazing, along with the cocktails. The service was excellent, not to mention very attentive and helpful. I could recommend everything we ate (which was alot mind you), and you could tell everything was exquisitely designed. Everything was delicious, but nothing tasted the same, which is difficult to pull off. There is a lot of work that goes into each food item and you can tell the level of craftsmanship that goes into everything. The restaurant itself is very unique and interesting to look at, and I especially enjoy the historic tutor building plus the unique interior. If you can manage, try and get the little nook on the second floor, nice little spot for a group under 6 if its available. The Sour Paradis was very good 👌👌 as a cocktail. All in all an excellent place for a nice night out.
O. V.
Lovely service. The food was ok. Wine was lovely. Good location
F. H.
Great albeit v.expensive wine list. Great food and attentive staff.
S. T.
Faultless.... Wonderful food. Awesome service, just lovely people.
Tiny wedding reception dinner for 20 that will never be forgotten 👏👌
C. C.
Good dishes and good wine selection. We had prosecco for our brunch and has been a great choice. Portions are not very big, but the food is of high quality.
C. A.
Delicious, freshly made italian food in small plates to share. The service was very kind and attentive. The deco inside bring you almost in another world. The only negative point: the food came too fast, therefore next time I won't order all the dishes at the same time. I will definitely come back and recommend it to my friends!
C. L.
Food is good - French but not too traditional French; there is a twist which I don’t really enjoy. Wine list is strong but the margin is as high as any fine dining restaurants. Good wine and dine place for Margaux lovers.
J. L.
Came in a few weeks ago, not a bad spot for a quick drink. Wouldn't stay there for too long, it's small but done out really well. The prices are about right for the area, it's a little more expensive than the pubs near by but for a much nicer setting, two double GnTs was just under £30.
They have a nice seating area out the front, there were a few mice running around under the tables which was off-putting but I don't suppose they can do much about it being outside and around 10pm.
C. S.
My Brother and Sister-in-Law...newly wed held their reception here. What an amazing place! Well done them both for choosing to celebrate here. Variety of food served was fantastic. The service...excellent, very attentive staff, pleasant and very accommodating. Would certainly come back here again...thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend to anyone! Great job CLARETTE, keep up the good work! Bien joué! 👌
M. D.
An absolutely amazing, amazing place. Truly the best classy drinks spot in all of Marleybone, and potentially best in all of London. The food is absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere is absolutely best in class. Above all is the staff - their attention to detail is on another level, and they consistently work to make it the best possible experience for each and every guest. Chris specifically is the best.
S. I. H.
The staff are incredibly friendly and super helpful. I am gluten free and they were able to tailor almost all of the dishes for me, which is rare, especially for French restaurants! We ordered a sampling of starters and each did the Margeaux Discovery, which was Devine! We will be back.
D. P.
Stopped for a drink on the way home. Nice little restaurant. Shame that they added £5 to the bill as service when we didn't eat
M. C.
I organised my wife's 30th birthday meal here, and am very glad I did! The quality of the venue, food and service was very high, and the prices were better than you'd expect for an excellent restaurant in this location. I'll definitely be back!
B. L. A.
Very posh but relax atmosphere. STAFF well trained and very HELPFUL and patience ( we where a fairly big group and took as 3 times to get all what we wan... we where very indecisive ) high quality food, very nice squid, really cute mini burgers, premium camember cheese but a bit greasy croquet. All tasted DELICIOUS.
F. N.
We had chateaubriand which was delicious and can be recommended. The chef and the staff are doing their job well.
Only three stars because they add the 12.5% discretionary service charge to the bill. Wake up and scrap that nonsense and let the people decide whether your service is worth a tip or not.
J. W.
Despite it being a busy Friday evening they found us a table upstairs just for drinks. Very attentive wait staff and great drinks menu. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat but it certainly smelled fantastic!
G. A.
Excellent place with really great service. A pub building that seems to have been converted to a full restaurant facility, with three floors, private dining room second and third floor, open restaurant wine bar on ground floor. Nicely decorated and a great selection of wine, beer and food.
L. H.
We had lunch in the Salon Privé. Excellent service, spectacular food and exquisite wine. A special thank you to Anne-Marie and Kyriacos for making our lunch so special.
T. A.
Excellent beef and wine selection
d. t.
Food is varied and really good. Wine list is broad and solid. Service is attentive and nice. Great vibe, well done!!
Will def come back!! You need to come and try!
Y. W.
Sophisticated atmosphere good selection of wines, plus taps style food.
My friends and I enjoyed a evening catch up with no pressure and no pretentious surrounding.
Service was good and food taste good as well.
G. L.
Great vibes and amazing wine and food! Highly recommended!
S. B.
Nice atmosphere, attentive staff, fine wine selection. I did however feel the Cod on the set menu was a bit dry and rubbery.
C. H.
Lovely lunch in the sun with a good old friend, a bottle of Birgit Eichinger’s Grüner Veltliner, a summer salad with peaches and some provençal chicken thighs.
V. G.
Super cozy place, wonderful selection of wine
I. F.
Really great atmosphere. Food was very good and a great wine list. Fantastic!
K.
We were really happy to find this gem! Excellent drinks and tasty starters. Nice atmosphere too and very friendly staff!
L. G.
Tres chic! Absolutely love Clarette! Every time I’ve been the service has always been on-point and the food menu and wine list always have something new and stunning to try!
M. A.
Great atmosphere for couples and small parties. The menu has a few excellent options and everything is delicious. Service is polite and has thoughtful suggestions. I would definitely recommend!
E. S.
What a great little place, extensive list of wines by the glass and the sommelier was incredibly knowledgable and helpful.
M.
Early lunch so restauraunt not busy. Service was good from friendly staff. Food was tasty and fresh. Priced on the high side but it is in the heart of London.
A. V.
Cosy and fitted out to a high standard. Good service. Excellent starters and desserts but Bavette steak was poor (chewy & gristly).
C. W. V. H.
We were three and all thought Clairette has lost its early promise...food lacked interest and flavour..returned plate. I thought the basic red wine by the glass surprisingly uninteresting and a poor offer. This was replaced. Staff explained the usual chef was off duty.
C. W.
Best Wine Tasting Bar there is. Period! .. Owned and managed by no one less then Alexandra Mentzelopoulos-Petit, Daughter of Corinne Mentzelopoulos, owner of the famous Chateau Margaux Premier Grand Cru Classe Wine in Bordeaux. The Number one Wine theres is. Needles to say, that there are only great wines here offered, in an ambience that is romantic and simply beautiful.
C. D.
We arrived a little late for a lunch booking and were told the kitchen was closed. However, after a short fission we were seated and the rest of our visit was superb. Cannot recommend more
J. K.
A very salubrious wine bar with an extensive but carefully selected variety of wines. Don't expect any change, this place it not cheap but the service is concomitantly attentive.
G. W.
Amazing food, incredible service. Everyone puts care into what they do and it really shows. If you do nothing else, eat the comté beignets, you won't regret it.
D. N.
Expert execution for a corporate Christmas evening function. Everything was first rate from the welcome, the range drinks at the bar, and the food - which was sublime.
i. m.
Food is amazing, petit burger and chocolate mousse are the best! Very nice wine list. Love the place, really nice setting!
O. T.
Real nice atmosphere, great service . And the food was perfect. Thanks for restoring our faith in the London restaurant cuisine 😀
C. E.
Fabulous BTG list, including some on Coravin. Food is solid, particularly the croque monsieur! Beautifully designed space. Great service. Will definitely be back.
X. C.
Lovely atmosphere, wines, service and food.
M. R.
Great location, amazing service, top hygiene in rest room, just a little pricy.
A.
Will definitely go back, though everything sold as "truffle" is a hint at best. Food itself is made wonderfully other than the misleading truffle sale.
R. G.
Great night! lovely place. The food is amazing as well as the wine selection. A new destination in London!
E. C.
Great place! Very good wine list, delicious food, nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Great selection of wines 👌🏻
The poulpe is great
The châteaubriant is not exceptional, i’d take the lamb chops next time 😍
Enjoy !
R. H.
Cozy. Nice wines by glass.
M. P.
Cosy upscale bistro with a very serious wine list.
H. H.
Good drink list but the food was ok and quite expensive for what it is worth. I highly doubt I will come back there.

(Translated) Pleasant atmosphere and a whole new experience for me in this classic English ambience. This is so interesting about this district of Marylebone that you can choose from a wide variety of restaurants, bars, flavors and facilities. The service staff at Clarettes Wine Bar was very friendly and showed us the rooms on the upper floor, which we found very comfortable. There is not only wine here, but also a comprehensive menu.

(Translated) Very very nice place, we ate outside in early October and with the mushroom to warm up it was really nice. What I recommend is avocado toast with feta and pomegranate (to me the combination seemed a little strange at the time! Instead, very good) and the salad with the three feta and fava beans!
(Original)
