Food is absolutely AMAZING here ! Highly recommend. The lady who served us Corrie was an absolute god sent. She made sure everything we ordered came exactly as we wanted it and made our experience so relaxed. I would highly recommend the lamb jalfrezi. Yum

Great food and service! Staff were really friendly and food was ready soon. Also gave us complimentary beer! Will definitely be back!

In this resturant i had the best indian food and they also give us free umlimited beers .i have been in so many resturant and i think this is the best one. the foodis very high quality and the staff are super nice.

Excellent food. I have been wanting to try the food here for sometime. I tell you I wasn't disappointed at all. Had a take away and it was one of the best Indian takeaways I have had seriously. Authentic food and not watered down. Would highly recommend this place without hesitation.
J. M.
I ordered a chicken Malabar biriyani from here via justeat. The chicken was of great quality, well marinated and it was obviously freshly made. I spoke to Pillai on the phone who ensured the biriyani matched my flavour and spice preferences being of Keralan descent. My craving was satisfied, thank you.Jade.

Excellent service, staff are extremely accommodating, enough space between tables to feel comfortable given current circumstances, food is predominantly South indian based - their selling point are their dosas, but they do have a variety of North indian food as well.

I went to this place a very long time ago so I was glad that they didn't remove dhosa from the menu as I recommended it to a dhosa lover. There is enough on the menu for a table of varied preferences. There were some issues including table service timings but overall a welcoming atomosphere.

Had an excellent meal here. Food was tasty and portion sizes were good. Staff were friendly. Worth a visit.

Came here with the family for my birthday and the food and service was just absolutely amazing. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The waiters were really friendly and gave excellent recommendations! My favourite South Indian restaurant hands down and I've been to a fair few. We ordered loads of starters and just about had room for mains! We asked for extra spicy and they accommodated that. And the chai! The chai takes me back.. ask for it to be served traditionally and get the full experience! Will be back very soon!

Spectacular is still modest, the ambience wonderful had lunch on Sunday as my mother wanted Dosa and she did not want to make it rather eat it, so we tried this place, clean friendly our server Vinod was and is A1 organised extra Sambar when wanted I would have taken pictures if the food but let's just say as fast and perfectly cooked as it came is how fast it finished portions are great great selection of vegetarian food and non veg food as me and my brother are meat eaters but also ordered the paneer starters, finally a local place who know how Mogo should be cooked and we have found a place that our mother approves as the vegetarian dishes are cooked separate to the meat which is not always the case compliments to the chef and Vinod we will be deffinetly popping in again and have found somewhere we will be making frequent stops and will visit on an evening already know what I will be trying from the menu next time.

I came to eat in at this restuarant few days ago.. WOOW! i was suprised how fresh cooked the food was... Also to thanks to VINOD for making me very welcome!!
R. F.
Excellent service and food was delicious. Loads of vegetarian options as well, food arrived quickly and was hot and fresh. Highly recommend the Mutteer Paneer! Waiter was really helpful and even gave mum an extra portion of Gulab Jamun to taste 😃 Definitely worth a meal out!

Now without sounding too pompous. Being indian and have eaten in some of London's best restaurants in town where they serve outrageous prices. This restaurant is up there on the top. For what it is in Finchley the quality of food is astonishing. Perfectly balance flavours, properly cooked south Indian food. If it was in town in a silly priced area it would be silly prices. What you get here for the money is more than it is. I didn't share photos of the food because it's about the flavour. If you haven't eaten here I suggest you do. I have eaten well made Indian food my whole life and also all around in India. If you are accustomed to a nonsense korma this isn't your place. This is real Indian food, you'll know by the Dosa's. Hats off to the chef. Eaten about 8x here need to eat more. My family and I swear by this gem of a restaurant in Finchley.

We really enjoy our meal... friendly stuff and value for money

Food is excellent but choice of drinks compared to there serving list marks it down

Food was delicious. The best Indian in London. Staff was very friendly and made sure everything was good. Can't wait to go back when lockdown is over but for now the take aways will do 😊

Delicious food, great service and amazing decor.
Highly reccomended.

Good place for Lunch and Dinner... I love the food and place.

We celebrated a birthday party here recently and have received fantastic communication and service from Joseph and his team from the start.
The restaurant is clean and modern, the food is delicious and again, the service on the night was excellent.
I would happily recommend this place to family and friends for all these reasons.
Thank you Joseph and Cochin for making the night a success.
Edit: Visited for a 70th Birthday Celebration on July 24th 2021 - 4 years after the above review, and was glad to have received the same excellent service and food at Cochin. A special thanks to Joseph, but also to Alana and Sibi, our waiting staff, who were attentive, friendly and worked very hard!

Cochin is absolutely fantastic. Me and my wife have eaten here three times now and each time has been very, very good. The food is perfect - and the wife is particularly picky when it comes to indian food! Extremely tender meat, very well seasoned dishes, generous but not ridiculous portions, it's absolutely ideal. I particularly recommend their Chicken Jalfrezi and their Peshwari Naan. Pricing here is very good, and lower than you'd expect for the quality of the food and the service. The service is excellent, very attentive and kind. The food came out fairly quickly, and was beautifully presented.
W.r.t COVID safety, they're doing a great job - running at a reduced capacity and minimizing time in contact with service staff. They're providing hand sanitizer on every table and doing contact tracing properly.
I'll be coming back as soon as I can! Thanks for a lovely evening.

Guys you were amazing! Food was very good.after long time I had a typical South Indian food my 83 years old mom was very happy. It was lovely experience. I can't wait to come back!
R. M.
Really great Indian. Looks like nothing special from the outside but possibly one of the best meals I have had of the many choices in London for this type of food. Can't wait for it to reopen (covid 19) so we can go back and enjoy!
A. R. M.
WoW i enjoyed well. It was a first time here . It was Christmas office party. You guys done a very good job. My friends was happy and we will be back soon. Flavour of the food like my mother home made food. Service was excellent. Keep doing the same. All fresh.
I. a. l.
Walked by many times but finally gave it a try. Wish I had gone sooner! Food was well presented with distinct flavours. Sides were very good as well and service was excellent. The best Indian restaurant..
Absolutely lovely restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was impeccable and ambiance was fab. 5/5

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to.
I have eaten here for past few years.
The food has always been consistently excellent. The taste of each individual dish is unique and different.
The food presentation, ambience and service is wonderful. Pricing is very reasonable indeed.
A thoroughly excellent gem of a restaurant.
I. s.
Very, very satisfied. Some of the best Indian cuisine I have had in London! Prices are good, service was fast, waiters and manager asked me a few times if everything was OK, food was delicious! Will definitely be coming here again!
M. P.
Came here for lunch today. Parked in the tesco carpark so it was very convenient. The food was good and the service excellent! Can't complain.
Service charge was £3.98 but worth it as the waiter was very attentive and did not harass us at all but came when I called so I didn't feel rushed to make a decision.
Very quiet at lunch time so I would recommend coming then. The restaurant has had a revamp so it looks better than the profile picture and was a relaxing environment.
The only reason it's not 5 🌟 is because for me I think a price of £43.77 for 3 starters, 1 main and 2 drinks was a little too expensive. If it was maybe under £30 I would have given 5 🌟.
S.
Amazing restaurant. Best Indian restaurant I have been to yet. The food is impeccably presented, taste is always amazing, service is always tip-top, I am very pleased whenever I go here. Highly recommended!
A. M.
Food is freshly prepared and super tasty. They have lots of choices for vegetarians and meat also - from South Indian dishes like Biryani to other Indian classics like Rogan Josh. Try the Chili paneer and Parotta, so good. Service is quick and polite. Tasteful decor. Brilliant little place. Hidden gem in my view!
R. F.
Had lamb dansak saal i think it was called, the daily special. I was very impressed with the quality of the lamb and the 'hotness' was the perfect amt just before it becomes unpleasant. Staff also friendly. Don't understand why it wasn't busier on a Fri night esp since there are only a couple of indians in finchley central (closer one to our house closed that night). Will defo come back, our new curry place perhaps!
S. R.
It is a Kerala restaurant with good ambience. I ordered some chettinadu curry and kerala paratha (nan bread). The curry was authentic but god almighty the kerala paratha was the one of the worst I have eaten. Being a malayali, kerala paratha a speciality of malayali cuisine they should get it right. Disappointed at the end of the meal.

BEST RESTAURANT IN NORTH LONDON!
Today is my fifth time coming here and this restaurant had delivered every single time. Beautiful food, fantastic service, wonderful restaurant, reasonable prices!!!!
I thank the sweet sweet lord every day that I live round the corner from this palace of delight.
B. S.
Cochin was one of the best indian resteraunts I've been to but have found recently the food quality has declined a little and though the staff tried really hard they were not well trained. A good front of house service is important in any restaurant. Am going again in a couple of days and am hoping it's improved
B. D.
its a great restaurant with honest taste and ingredients. It probably deserves a bit more than 4 star if customer service were bit more considerate in accommodating slight changes to food items
J. I.
We attended a party. It was a wonderful experience. The manager was very friendly, helpful and professional. The taste is excellent, and you can't get this anywhere in London. Keeps it up!.
P. H.
Well it was a interesting meal! The girl who served us must have been new. She didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing. A smile once in a while would have been nice.
The food:
The crispy bhajia - well yes they were crispy but that was only cause they were over cooked. Which might have been okay had there been a sauce with it but nothing of the sort.
Chilli Panner - tiny starter not even enough for 2 people to share.
Mogo was mogo.
Then came the main. Nearly a 20 minuet was for the main! We had the okra, vegetable jalfrezi & a masala dosa.
The curries were nice flavours were good. Dosa was nice but the potato curry inside was a bit bland.
Overall the meal was nice & manager was pleasant.
P. R.
Really delicious food especially if you go for their south Indian dishes. Mysore Dosa and idli sambar are fantastic and remind me of my trip to south India. Good selection for vegetarians and meat eaters, vegans catered for also. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes. Nice atmosphere and décor inside, usually busy in the evening. Can't comment on take away as I've only ever eaten in the restaurant. Best Indian restaurant in Finchley? Maybe, it's a toss up between this and Ranni, but Cochin slightly edges it in my opinion.
D. R.
Best biryani I've tasted and parathas were fab too. Beer could have been colder but they were re-stocking so haven't deducted a star for that!
L. M. K.
Tingle your taste buds with authentic South Indian food
The perfectly spiced prawn biryani was to die for , succulent pieces of prawns coupled with tangy raita and curry sauce..a hearty portion that leaves you satisfied. There is definitely a South Indian kick to the spice used in the cooking which elevates the food to the next level. Can't wait to go back and try other varieties of biryani :-)
M. K.
Went into Cochin with a friend on Friday evening. I had the lamb vindaloo with peshwari naan and my friend had Karahi lamb with garlic coriander naan. It was lovely with the kingfisher beer. Highly recommend. We will be back :)
S. D.
Went to Cochin for my 40th birthday party. Fantastic food, friendly service, lovely ambience. A perfect evening. Will definitely visit again to try more delicious dishes.
R. V.
Cochin restaurant always delivers food with high quality and makes u feel having food at home. Warm and friendly staff. Had a great time there!
M. I.
its ok once in a while; but wish they use better oil option for healthier consumption.
R. C.
Saviour... I walked in at 10pm after a long day. I asked them what could be served at this time of the day and they gracefully gave the menu and said they will serve anything I liked from the menu. Had a good meal and left really pleased. Thank you
E. F.
Excellent food at fair prices.
However somewhat lacking in atmosphere midweek and the server seemed a little shy!
Food excellent though
p.
Excellent food, great service.I would definitely coming back, bringing also some friends. The staff is very friendly, especially Joseph the manager,I will recommend to everyone to try this indian restaurant.
J. S.
Reasonable food, higher than normal prices and on top of that ridiculous service charges.
It's the 21st century, people get a wage now, tips were a thing of the past when the waiters didn't get paid by the restaurant ;)
Y. K.
Tasty Indian food with a great ambience to dine out with friends & family. Outstanding service and excellent staff. Well recommended for food lovers.
R. M.
Me and my girlfriend have been going to this and the old east finchley restaurant for years. Can't believe the East Finchley one has closed down!? Tragic. The food in the Ballards Lane one is just as good, and it's got easily one of the best, if not the best, Indian food i've had in London. The food always taste's really fresh, and the curries always make a really nice tasty alternative to the standard vindaloo's/kormas/madras that every other two bob curry house in london offers. Food prob works out a bit pricier than other Indian restaurants but easily worth. Top Notch.
H. S.
Fabulous Food! I have ordered twice in a week :) Staff very nice, restaurant very good, I can't fault this restaurant and I am very particular. Cochin is a cut above the rest.
K. M.
Good ambiance. Delay service.Don’t expect real taste of Kerala food.
B. H.
Lovely place. A bit more expensive than others, but good and original food if you are feeling adventurous.
B. H.

Good place in this area to try something different, like authentic south indian food, good taste. But the price is a little expensive.

Good place, good food. Can improve taste authenticity in some items like Avial.
