Reviews of Eat 17 Restaurant
M. S.
Excellent quality and taste. We ordered the sweet potato curry and the halloumi salad - and we were not disappointed! The restaurant's location is also great, the staff was very helpful - overall a great experience. The only reason for the rating of 4 and not of a 5, is because of its limited choices for vegans and vegetarians - other than these 2 options there is nothing. Having said that, these 2 dished are definitely recommended and definitely worth the visit.
B. B.
Lovely staff, they're always happy to help and really kind. The food too is delicious - it does get busy so try and pre-book online beforehand!!
M. W.
Very nice food and great for a weekend lunch or occasion. Staff are excellent and very attentive, wine is reasonably priced and good quality. Fell over a few pushchairs but to be fair they belonged mostly to the customers.
J. W.
My first visit but hopefully won’t be my last.
Even though the menu was understandably reduced due to Covid issues, there was still a great choice of restaurant classics and brunch dishes. The Merguez sausage and full English were the standouts and certainly set us up for the day.
Excellent coffee, cocktails made with care and quality ingredients, and friendly, efficient service from initial welcome to friendly farewell.
A real gem on a competitive high street.
S. Y.
Very limited breakfast menu. And what is available is very seriously overpriced. Having said that it is a nice ambience for a coffee and chat.
The supermarket section is a delight to wonder around but again you can buy some of the same items in Sainsbury etc at lower prices

So accommodating, helpful and lovely hosting my Brother's wedding reception. They couldn't do enough for us, the food was delicious and the mixologist was on point! Wonderful cocktails.

Reserved a table for 12 guests on a Sunday for a wedding reception dinner. Booking staff and management were extremely helpful and went above and beyond with our booking, moving the area to accommodate more guests and an early arrival. Serving staff were excellent, quick and efficient. In particular, our main server Maria was exceptional and really went the extra mile to make sure everyone in our party was well taken care of. We chose this restaurant because of their friendly local atmosphere, excellent food and great service and they did not disappoint. Would 100% recommend (also, try the chicken burger, it's delicious).
W. C.
Perfect place for Sunday Brunch. Excellent, good value food, and wonderfully friendly service. We had a baby with us, and he was as welcome as anyone else. We've been to Eat 17 many times in the past, and will be back again in the future.

I sat in the cafe part on a cold Saturday afternoon in December. It's a small space with a cosy and very friendly atmosphere. I had a (very good, not too sweet) mulled wine and spent a good hour reading a book by the window. Staff seem relaxed and happy, and not at all pushy. Would definitely recommend!
(There were a few families with small kids, so it appears to be kid friendly too)
S. J.
Bloody delicious curry experience. I was anxious about ordering a curry from a place known for its excellent burgers, but alas I was very pleasantly surprised! Would have been 5 stars if it had homemade rather than shop naan. Friendly and professional service. Total bill was not cheap, but still a real treat and I will definitely return.
L. V.
Ordered a chicken burger, which was served with aioli, tomato jam (something like that) and jalapenos with fries on the side. Fries were lovely, burger was nice also - although the jam wasn't to my personal taste, but still very much enjoyed it overall. For desert I ordered a chocolate fondant served with ice cream. Unfortunately the choc cake should have had an oozing chocolate centre which wasn't there at all. It was definitely overcooked so the centre was very stodgy.
Generally speaking it was a lovely venue, a good choice of food and very family friendly.
C. C.
Fantastic three courses and a perfect place for my birthday celebration. Starter of scallops was one of the best first courses I’ve had for a long time. Roast beef also superb and very high quality meat. Chocolate fondant finished things off perfectly. All four of us were very happy. Bravo!
A. G.
Lovely Dinner on Wednesday evening. The food was delicious. The customer service was absolutely amazing (tattooed waiter with the glasses). Unfortunately, we didn't get his name, but by his accent, we thought he is British. Thank you for making us feel welcome and being so conscientious. Superb dining experience!
S. C.
Got some lovely tapas here. Delicious. Lovely atmosphere and great staff. Really enjoyed and fully recommend.
M. C.
Lovely lunch, good varied menu choices, food was excellent, it was well presented and tasty, the service was also very nice. My wife loved it.
S. P.
Great atmosphere. The guys let us in on our impromptu arrival making us feel welcome for breakfast. Coffee & Food was great.
j. b.
The Korean chicken wings are a triumph! Restaurant has a nice atmosphere with modern decor. Service was a little slow for how quiet it was. The Wild Card pale ale is a solid beverage choice.
T. B.
Eclectic, spacious pub/restaurant feel. Great simple British food. Friendly and attentive staff. I had a great time with my companion.
C.
Really nice place with a small grocery shop attached to it. The good was lovely - I got the steak and it was perfectly cooked. The mixed salad was ok, but it tasted like there was a lot of nettles in it - which were quite bitter and a little tough, so not really the salad I was expecting.
E. P.
I had a very positive experience at E17. This warmly lit, minimalist restaurant in the heart of Walthamstow Village offers delicious organic food with an interesting twist. We had scallops with with swiss chard and root veg purea to start, which was perfect to share. I went on to a delicious (and massive!) plaice, while my guests had a yummy vegetarian Sunday roast and a venison pie. The service was courteous and absolutely on point: one of our mains got burnt, the manager replaced it immediately and offered us a round of drinks. Speaking of which, the South African biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc was excellent!
To conclude, a pineapple croissant and a British cheese board. We didn't spend over £110. Great place for a date!
F. S.
My word, I just wasn't expecting it to be so good. Every dish we had was outstanding, a real flavour party. The scallops and crispy pork belly is a match made in heaven. The chef is a pro at cooking fish of the day and elevating it to exceptional heights. The glazed beef short ribs was very tender and complemented and surprisingly almost outshone by the seasoned hisby cabbage.
Very fine food, and sound staff as well

I went to this restaurant as part of a private birthday function. The restaurant offers a lovely party space. It has good atmosphere and is clean and bright. We pre selected our meals from a set menu and the staff served these out efficiently. I enjoyed all of my selection. I had heard good reviews about this venue before and it did live up to expectation.
E. B.
Really lovely breakfast with great local ingredients. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and although the place is busy, I’ve never felt rushed.

Eat 17 is my favourite restaurant in Walthamstow. It’s nestled in the heart of Walthamstow village and is extremely popular so would advise booking in advance during peak hours. This is especially true of Sunday lunch which are generally busy due to the fantastic roasts on offer! While the roasts are great, my favourite item on the menu is the award winning chicken burger. I have continued to order this throughout lockdown and they have maintained the same high quality and is equally delicious! Eat 17 also offers brunch menu with excellent egg options. The staff are extremely friendly though service can be on the slower end during peak hours (purely due to how busy the restaurant can get!) I can’t wait to visit again once the restaurants re open with Eat17 being top of my list!
M. J.
Two words : beautiful and delicious !
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and mostly the quality of the products. I had a sage risotto 👌🏼 sweet and light!
Thank you
M. L.
Had few coffees and teas with friends, sitting outdoors. Can't comment on food, haven't tried any yet. Service quite quick and staff friendly.
J. O.
Unusual Sunday roast but tasty, huge meats A+++, shame sausagemeat stuffing bone dry tasteless, nice roast potatoes, red cabbage, cauli cheese. Lacked customer service but was peak time. Would go again.
M. O. A.
Best pork sunday roast I have ever had! I really recommend the food from this place! The staff members are always polite and helpful and the chef is great!
D. H.
The food was amazing, we ordered soup of the day mushroom soup which came with lovely warm sourdough bread and butter, soufflé goats cheese with a side salad which could have tasted better, I would say there was a little bit more salt then I imagined in everything apart from the goats cheese, we also ordered buffalo wings which were yummy, and the best of all, the skin partially on fries with grated parmesan and truffle oil drizzled on top, ordered pan fried hake with a walnut crumb and Jerusalem artichokes it was much bigger than I thought and a little on the salty side but all the flavours were absolutely delicious! Would be happier if you could pay with cash as well as card, as its only card as requested by manager. Would have been good if the service charge was optional, maybe it is but we wasn't made aware. Thanks
R. M.
Beautiful store and the new french cheeses are amazing. The Ecume de Wimereux with truffles is just divine
S. T.
Finally got to have breakfast here and boy it didn't disappoint! Pork belly, egg, ricotta spinach, smokey home made beans... Absolutely delicious!! Oh and not forgetting some of their scrumptious bacon jam!!
Had a burger here last bank holiday and that was also delish. It's a little pricey for Walthamstow - £45 for 3 of us for breakfast - but the food was absolutely yummy so I think is worth the price. Nom nom noooom.
J. L.
Good food. A little premium priced. Will come back and try more of the menu. Dove and truffle sandwich was the best item we tried!
A. S.
Lovely ambiance. The food was tasty and arrived in good time. Staff was welcoming. I will definitely return to try the dinner menu. Located on a street with other artisan food shops.
S. F.
Really like it here, the food is fantastic and the venue too.
The scallops in particular were chosen by 3 out of the 4 of us and possibly the best we’ve had. Seriously good portion size too which is rare!
Would highly recommend the cocktails also.
Only slight negative (and we may have been unlucky) is that it was really very loud and we had to almost shout to hear each other. Would still go again for dinner though and hope it was a one off as I don’t recall this the first time we visited.
Just wish they had more restaurants and one in Leytonstone!
A. T.
Ok so it was a bit weird, but the food was nice. We were greeted by a lovely lady outside who took us inside and explained what we had to do in order to be allowed to eat a burger in this particular room. Fine, everywhere is different with this stuff. I filled out the online forms (some parts of which were slightly illogical but they’re written by insurance companies and not medics I guess) and then once you have read the menu, you have to go and stand in a small vegetable shop. While queuing at the counter, people in front of you are buying takeaway coffee and maybe a pound of onions and things like that. Once you’ve got to the front of the queue, you order your food and drink, and a total is announced to you. Does this include a tip? Who knows, for no printed bill is presented. I assumed so. You also have to show them your phone to prove that you got top marks on the Covid test. You pay the bill and work your way back through the vegetable shop to your table where later on people bring the drinks and food. Bizarrely it seems to be quite possible to order more drinks without going back to the vegetable shop, which is good because frankly you’re not going to go through the whole ‘watching people buying their groceries’ thing in order to get a pint of beer, are you. We had chicken wings, a steak sandwich and a chicken burger. All of it was excellent, although the menu seems to have gone from what I remember in previous visits to pretty much ‘hot things in buns’, presumably this is a Covid thing, like standing in a vegetable shop. Well, it’s as logical as making people wear dirty face masks on the Tube I suppose.
Once you finish, you go back to the vegetable shop and settle the rest of the bill and if you leave through the wrong door, you find that you are in Spar, where you can buy a souvenir tin of cat food or something to take home. It was weird, not like eating in a restaurant or a cafe but the food was good and everyone seemed eager to please. And to sell vegetables, presumably.
E. F.
Bit disappointing this time. The staff are charming and attentive but food took a long time to come out. And the burger was tasty but really meagre - like, McDonald's burger thin. I thought about checking whether they'd given us a child size burger patty by mistake! Looks like the chicken burger is a lot better value.
J. X.
The staff are friendly and there is a nice atmosphere, though it may be slightly too noisy (at times) if you’re looking for a quite spot. The menu has enough options and vegetarians are covered. The food tastes good, but it’s expensive. The chicken burger used to be one of the top 2 or 3 burgers in London but the recipe has since changed a few times (which is a shame). Busy on weekend, so it’s best to book ahead.

Came for an early evening meal with family - we had risotto, cod and a burger plus desserts. Lovely service, food quick, hot and really tasty - will definitely be returning. Very friendly waitress. Thank you for a great visit.
J. K.
Loved the food, Danielle was an amazing barista. Very sweet, and nice
D. C.
Food is fresh. Service is great. Varied menu catering for all tastes. Highly recommended.
A. Z.
What a lovely place in a lovely location. I was greeted straight away and the service was great. I couldn't believe how good my food was too and they let me sit and do some work for a few hours. I honestly highly recommend the walk along to here
B. K.
Lovely Lunch - intimate venue, good food, good service. Fig dessert beautiful💕
L. P.
A well presented restaurant located in a trendy part of Walthamstow. French and Italian wines ( Barbera from Piedmont) from 26 GBP per bottle. Good food and service.
S. M.
Crab and avocado salad starter was fresh and generously portioned, scallops starter was too good for my friend to share, and his hake and chorizo fish of the day main was salty but tasty. highly recommend it. Nice atmosphere, great decor, super cute garden where they grow their own veggies.
D. G.
Scallops starter amazing, chicken burger amazing, service really great too - thanks to Sylwia and the other staff for making it a special celebration. Always a hit going here
M. F.
Popular cafe / restaurant attached to a grocery store in Walthamstow Village. Busy when I visited (a good sign) with an eclectic menu of interesting and tasty plates. Will certainly return if I'm in the area.
D. N.
This is truly the best shop. So much great produce. Fresh food and ingredients. And tiny trolleys.
C. S.
OK, I 'only' had a burger. However - best burger ever! And don't miss shopping at the 'Spar' adjoining - and be sure to buy some bacon jam.
A. J.
the food came out cold however the flavours were good
A. A.
Nice enough atmosphere, staff cordial , just the food let's it down a bit..
C. K.
High quality well presented meals. Great setting too. The one let down was the tiramisu, a weird one considering how excellent the rest of the menu is. Go for the basque cheesecake instead!
J. W.
Really good service, interesting menu, massive carrot cake.
Impressed.
A. S.
Very good menu, great venue, really nice friendly and knowledgeable staff. I would definitely eat there again.

Tasty fayre in the heart of Walthamstow Village. I think that Eat 17 prices are pretty reasonable. For me the food is fine, some dishes are pretty good, others are relatively mediocre. So yes, a bit of a mixed bag. However, the overall experience was pretty good. Make sure you book in nice and early - it gets full weeks in advance.
H. P.
My sister in law took me for brunch here today as I have recently moved to the area and WOW!
Superb brunch, top notch coffee, reasonably priced and the world's friendliest staff!
Big shout out to Ray for making me feel very welcome in this new town : )
Highly, highly recommend this place.
Thanks again guys and see you soon

Been goining to this place for years and it really has changed the face of Orford rroad and been a big part of why the area has come up so much. The breakfast on a w/e is decent. And their Chicken Buirger is ace too. The staff are always friendly.....the only thing to bare in mind is that you might need to book as it get's poretty busy at w/e and busy times.

I just had a lovely dinner at Eat17. Service was very good, social distancing and covid rules were observed.
Food was amazing, very fresh and tasty, generous portions and a good selection of drinks. I will certainly be back.
G. C.
Love this place. Date night heaven. Delicious small plates and good options with or without meat. Staff are really friendly
L. H.
There was a vegan and vegetarian choice which was great but I guess I am spoilt because I live in London,so I felt the idea behind the vegan beef Wellington was good but it could have had more taste and I would have made a much greater effort with the vegetables. The shredded sprouts were the best bit but a smear of something brownish,a minute dribble of gravy and the odd carrot just let the Wellington down.
The celeriac soup was lovely and the bread fresh and crunchy. The service was excellent.
Overall could have been more choice and it felt as if the veggie/vegan cooking was done by a chef more used to cooking meat. Sadly.
M. D.
Located in the heart of the Village where you can feel the local community vibes. Big portions of delicious food is a plus.

First time at Eat17 will be back great lunch and staff very relaxed

Great food, great service! Been here a few times since moving to the area and the quality of food is amazin and not ridiculous high prices either.
A. P.
My review may not be helpful to all as I had all vegan dishes, but the mushroom risotto fritter starter was amazing. The sweet potato curry was also delicious. Was upset not to have any decent option for a dessert (Sorbet was offered). Would eat here again.
g. j.
Wonderful birthday lunch with my son .Amazing dish of Jerusalem artichokes ,baked with a delicate cheese ( I'll have to return for recipe !) I've never had anything like it before and I'm well experienced at different cuisines . The hake was very fresh, perfectly cooked and accompanied by a most delicious rissoto. Service impeccable and friendly. WOW !!!

Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Walthamstow village. Great meal, ticked all my boxes. We did arrive early but they still sat us down, I wonder if this is the reason why the staff were a little inattentive. I loved the chicken burger, everything we had was delicious. Would hugely recommend.
A. B.
Delicious vegan main and the most wonderful clementine cheesecake 💜
R. C.
Very friendly, welcoming. Good food, wine and drinks. Shame the potatoes were re heated or vacuum packed as the rest of the meals were great. Good quality and value for money.
I. P.
Went for lunch on a Saturday. Food was very good and the staff very friendly. The restaurant has plenty of space inside and we could keep the baby in the pushchair by our table, which is almost never possible in restaurants in London. When it's sunny they have tables outside, which is a plus. Definitely coming back!
m. m.
Great atmosphere. Celebrated my birthday here. Nice menu. Despite the waiter forgetting to order all our meals free drinks and priority service provided to rectify mistake. Food well presented and extremely tasty
f.
Nice but overrated. Loud music and too dark to read menu so everyone had their phone out. Nope, that's a huge minus. Kids: yep ! (I haven't been in there for a while so things may of changed. But kids....I would like to have my experience and the money I'm going to spend in a kids free environment. If I want to spend the evening out with children, I'll go to a 'Charlie Chalks' themed eatery.
J. W.
Great quality food, good service. Great place for brunch in a very buzzy atmosphere. Top notch
C. D.
Had an idea incredible meal. The waiter, Jerry, was probably the most friendly and relaxed waiter I’ve ever had, he made the whole experience wonderful!
H. k.
Had the chicken burger as takeaway, overpriced and not that great tasting in my view (but others seem to be a fan, so may just be a matter of personal taste)
A. M.
Lovely food and very attentive staff. We’ve been here several times for lunch at the weekends and they never disappoint. Very good wine selection. A bit on the expensive side.
T. M.
Smashing roast meal and possibly the best Yorkshire puds in London! Extremely fluffy!
T. B.
Very very good. Amazing burger, bit of a hidden gem. Add bacon jam to it makes it pop!
Truffle fries maybe aren't the best value, just stick to the normal ones.
G. L.
The food is great, went twice and both times all we had was delicious. I also think the staff deserve a special mention: kind, friendly without forcing it and attentive without being invasive. Definitely one of my favourite places in London.
B. R.
Lunch was really great, but above all Jerry was very lovely and I will be back to say hello to him again
G. C.
Just enjoyable lunch
Can't think of anything that was not up to standards
Worth going
Been there before
Changed layout for the better
Thanks
A. P.
Perfect food, cocktails, music and atmosphere to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary! We had our 2 year old asleep in the pram and they were brilliantly accommodating. Cant recommend enough
L. D.
I never realized Walthamstow had any noteworthy restaurants but there's a bunch of good ones on Orford Road, of which Eat 17 is the highlight.
I've been here several times - it's tricky to make a reservation on weekends (a good sign). The food is excellent overall, even the few misfires have not been bad, and it's not overly priced (though not cheap either). There's a separate Sunday roast menu, and the regular menu has a good selection including a delicious cheeseburger with bacon jam (which the restaurant invented). The scallops starter is a must have!
There's a decent selection of drinks and desserts on offer. The place itself is not overly crowded - tables are spaced out - and the staff service is average to good.
Overall, highly recommended.
k.
High quality produce prepared to a high standard. Bit of a long wait for the main course, but it was worth it.
S. K.
Great service, food is lovely, but not ideal for vegans like me. Very limited options without dairy or meat/fish
D. A.
Good food, fantastic service.
C. S.
Update. Ordered from them via Deliveroo. Order was delayed quite a long time, and the chicken burger was bone dry. Both the chicken and the bun, so I assume it had been held under hot lights for way too long. Cheesecake for my partner was a meagre portion. As below, I've eaten in many times and always found it good, but the Deliveroo version was pretty wide of the mark.
Have had two brilliant meals here. Buttermilk fried chicken burger and fish and chips were both cooked perfectly, very crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Barrel aged smoked negroni was also outstanding, and have also been enjoying some of their retail products (eg good value spices) that they sell at the fancy Spar next door.
N. C. G.
Lovely atmosphere, very good roast. Jerry was extremely helpful regarding my particular mustard requirements!
J. L. D.
It's the second time we come here with my partner and it will definitely not be the last. The service is wonderful and the food is 5 stars. The best value for money found in a while. We both work in hospitality so are quite familiar with the procedures and quality standards. This place should be in all culinary guides.
A. T.
First time at Eat17 will be back great lunch and staff very relaxed
C. M.
Lovely part of Walthamstow. Very hipster vibe. Food was absolutely delicious will beautiful presentation. My boyfriend had the fried breakfast and was able to swap the fried eggs for scrambled and the bacon for an extra sausage. I had bacon, avocado and scrambled eggs on toast. Great value for money.
m. b.
Was very nice atmosphere
Good options of foods
Definitely will go again to try other things
A.
Credit where credit is due. Took a little time however, Roast Chicken for two was tender succulent - a lot of other places can not get this right. All side dishes were also tasty and fresh. Service was excellent from all staff. Negroni sbagliato is very refreshing. Lovely interior.
C. H.
Brilliant place, great food and atmosphere but very small. Bookings in popular times recommended. Sometimes it is overbooked but one can always wait in a bar. Staff is very friendly. I would recommend duck dish and grilled fish there. Popular with locals
m. G.
Favourite food in walthamstow. Amazing roast dinner, brunch and out of this world chicken burger! Friendly staff and always a cool, chilled vibe!
M. T.
Once the only place to dine on modern classics, Eat17 now has some stuff local competition for a good beer and burger, steak or Sunday roast. The place has had a make over and some of the friendly familiarity has gone for me, with new faces behind the bar and the hipster influx of recent times. But this place still has its soul, great food, brilliant staff and a vibrant atmosphere. Breakfast is now a queue-out-the-door affair at the weekends and you have to book or get their as they unlock the doors to get a table straight away. The burgers are heaven as are their starter/nibbles. Never have room for dessert. Not the cheapest - a young family of 4 can expect to spend £60-£70 with wine / beer. Worth it, though
f. r.
Lovely atmosphere and clean restaurant. We went for an early - 6pm - sitting so it fairly quiet before the main rush at around 8pm. Burgers were excellent, especially chicken burger. Would recommend it if you're in Walthamstow.
E. R.
I always like their lunch menu, lots of choice and the food is very good. Plus it's nice to sit outside and see the world go by. Only downside was a plastic straw in an otherwise brilliant pina colada!
J. M.
Excellent food, nice place, won't mark it down because the chef stood at the hatch about ten feet from my Mum's seat and said Motherf#cker when he ran out of dressing for our burgers, that would be unfair on the rest of the staff and the owner who clearly put a lot of effort in. So In future maybe the tall slim chef in his mid to late thirties who has English as a second language should use his impressive multi-lingual skill with a touch more wisdom. The chicken burger is not to be missed.
L. 2.
I've been coming here for years. The food here has always been great and it just seems to get better with every new dish that they introduce. Whether you fancy a romantic meal on a Friday night, breakfast with mates on a Saturday morning to aide your hangover cure or Sunday roast with the family his place delivers time and time again. My personal favourites are the wings and the buttermilk chicken burger. Please bring back the Vietnamese pork guys!
R. M.
Excellent service and the food was even better.
J. P.
Sat in sunshine enjoying the weather and village feel. Staff helpful and polite, good quality food and plenty of choice on the menu. Probably the best crispy bacon I've ever had 👍🥓
D. M.
Really nice place with high quality brunch. Very busy on a Sunday morning but staff were very pleasant and we weren't kept waiting long. Good was perfectly cooked and showed a lot of skill to have a perfect runny egg yolk oozing out.
S. C.
Delicious food. Well cooked and great service. The bread was especially good. Couldn't even finish the main but that was because of eating too much before it!! Prices reasonable for the quality.
W. F.
Very reasonable value for extremely tasty food, good service and a lovely atmosphere.
They catered for our group of 10 with ease.
The burger was delicious and their famous bacon jam was worth a try (comes on the deli board as well as seperately).
S. H.
Such a cute and comfy outside area with amazing food and lovely friendly service.
Will definitely be back

There are so many things I love about this place: first and foremost, the food is just excellent. Well-priced, beautifully cooked, with super-fresh ingredients. The scallops are last supper-worthy and I order them every time I visit. The chicken burger is the best I've tasted in London. Other main dishes I've tried have also been wonderfully executed - I've never had a dud meal here, whether it's fresh fish, a delicious steak or the perfect eggs florentine. Portions are generous but not overwhelming, and the cocktail list is small but perfectly formed. The Amaretto sour and pornstar martini are both fantastic. The other striking thing about this place is the service, which is consistently wonderful. David, the front of house, should win an award - he always goes the extra mile and makes you feel right at home. The other staff are friendly but unobtrusive. Eat 17 is always busy; there's always a buzzy atmosphere. All in all I basically love this place and if you haven't been, go at once!

Nice atmosphere. Very baby friendly. Good food and drinks - chicken burger was delicious, nice selection of wine and beer. Staff not very good at greeting customers when entering restaurant (normal to wait for 5 mins being ignored), but otherwise friendly service.
E. S.
Absolutely perfect. The food and drinks were flawless. I'm not sure I've ever had such a good meal out. The waitresses were all friendly and helpful, service overall was attentive without being suffocating at all. The restaurant strikes a nice balance of feeling clean, cosy and spacious all at the same time. Best of all it was quiet, so conversation was no trouble.
I went for the duck breast with red cabbage and potato dauphinoise, with a pint of Crate Lager. The food blew me away and I'm really not easily impressed. The duck breast was perfectly seasoned and cooked; lovely, tender and full of flavour. The cabbage and dauphinoise worked so well together: very delicate sweet and sour cabbage with a creamy, fluffy dauphinoise. A wine would probably been a better choice than the lager on my part, but that was a very nice lager!
Dessert was a baked cheesecake with a plum and coulis, and a glass of Muscat. The baked cheesecake was creamy, moist and firm, and the soft base with the crunchy brown sugar crumble on top worked very well. The coulis off to one side didn't really seem necessary, and didn't really fit; but that's personal preference really. The Muscat was very good: clean, sweet taste of elderflower, and not cloying at all.
I'm really looking forward to a second meal here!
E. C.
Great atmosphere - light and airy, suitable for our loud group.
Lovely staff - polite and friendly, helpful with menu choices.
Delicious food - make sure stomach is empty due to the potion size.

We went to the Hackney branch:
Beautiful place in a random and unexpected location! Tasty food, unique cocktails, and very smart staff made our Saturday night the highlight of the weekend. Book a table with plenty time in advance.
R. A.
Always good food and although they hadn't trained a new server, it was a nice meal.
E. A.
Good food nice portions.
K. B.
Fab wine selection and starters are to die for. Mains would have been great but sides didn't arrive at the same time. Would have had 5/5 but need to get timing right. Good staff who really understood.
J. S.
I had a great lunch here - the coal roasted beets followed by fishcake from the prix fixe menu were both delicious. With coffee the bill came to £20.
T. C.
Great local joint, breakfast was great!
S. P.
Absolute top dinner and lovely waiter. Couldn't recommend more, absolutely stuffed and such good flavours. Also best Aperol Spritz I've ever had
J. T.
The food is delicious. Especially the burgers and the wings. The wine selection is fab. They're also really accommodating with kids. Overall a little pricey and sometimes service can be slow.
K. P.
This place is great. Breakfast is fantastic (really good veggie option - even tempted me, a non-vegetarian) and the sausages are amazing! Their burger is great too.
H. W.
6 of us lunched well for £22.50 each - including 10% service but not wine. Superb ribeye, vg scallops, ok duck ( tender tho' no sauce or dressing ), yummy ice creams tho' the guineas one was ginger and cinnamon instead. Would certainly recommend it.

The menu is excellent and food/flavours are very tasty. I often get 2 starters as I can't choose. The service is efficient but isn't the friendliest especially when you're with kids. Definitely book in advance.
G. H.
Nice place, friendly staff, decent value for the atmosphere and food. I had one of the best burgers of my life, but I thought the chips were nowhere near as good, not that good at all really. I'd give it 4.5/5 but that's not an option :)
V. M.
Delicious! Service was great too!
S. D.
One of my favourite restaurants in the Waltham forest area. We have visited this place a few times in the last ten years and have never been disappointed. We once had a christmas eve lunch there to celebrate my wife's birthday and the service was excellent.
C. R.
Went for breakfast and the service wasn't great. We received our English breakfasts minus the toast we had ordered (at an extra cost!), which didn't turn up until halfway through the meal, after we had prompted one of the waiters. It was also a bit annoying that we had to wait for our teas and orange juice to arrive a while after tucking into our food (aren't you supposed to serve drinks first?). My boyfriend and I had to laugh at the tiny, tiny amount of beans on the plate and I actually thought about asking for a side order of more beans as the breakfast was kind of dry without them, but I just settled for rationing them (didn't realise beans were such a commodity?). To be fair, I have been once before this for dinner and the service was much better, and the scallops starter was especially lovely.
R. M.
we had booked table for 6.30pm. Well, that was a good move because the place was full by 7:15pm. The food was nice and plenty of choices. The service was excellent and friendly. Even though the place was buzzing, the service wasn't rushed. I can't wait to go back again. Nice vibe and simple but elegant deco. Highly recommended.
B. B.
Great food at decent prices. This is one of my regulars and I have never been disappointed. Friendly service and great menu. Nice outdoor seats on a sunny day.
H. R.
I have eaten there several times and the reason for just 3 stars is related to the service I have received more recently. When we have eaten there as a group we have had marvelous service from the hostesses, but when Ive been twice on my own to snack or have a cuppa in the bar area I have had poor service. Not sure if it was because I was on my own or because it was the host and bartender who was serving me, but it was awful. The host was cold and impatient with me and certainly the antithesis of service with a smile. The bartender was the same. Asking questions about the menu or trying to get the bill etc was impossible. I saw one solo customer at the bar also getting the cold shoulder so I guess its the norm.
If it was based on the service from the hostesses / waitresses and food Ive had there before then it would be an unequivocal 5 stars but the poor, abrupt service Ive had lately left me too upset to consider going there again.
J. B.
Good atmosphere. Freshly cooked food to a good standard. The pork bites on the snack menu are exceptional. The Tiffin bites dessert are interesting too. A good night out.
C. W.
Delicious food, particularly the cooked breakfast (we were there for brunch). Very reasonable prices. We'll be back. Note: you can't book tables for brunch so arrive a little early for a good spot.
H. C.
Went here to celebrate a friends birthday, and absolutely loved it! The duck was delicious, and for 4 of us- starters, mains and lots of wine- came to about £80. We've been back numerous times since.
O. P.
We had a fantastic meal at Eat17 last night. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. We will be back! Make sure you get the scallops and pork belly 🤤
M. C.
Although the service can be a little slow, the food is great and priced just right.
My absolute favourite is the duck breast, sticky red cabbage & dauphinoise which, at the time of writing, is £12.50.
Eat17 is a ten minute walk from Walthamstow Central; if you're in the area, definitely put it on your list of restaurants to visit.
There is a small range of beers on tap and a reasonable selection of bottled beers, but your best bet is to go with a bottle or two of wine!
N. B.
Stunning place with a nice vibe, fast service and always freshly baked bread. One of the spots around where you can have a wonderful meal for more than a good price.
Nice dinning area, friendly staff.
Make sure you check the daily specials when you get there.
A. R.
Amazing staff members, great selection of wine and excellent food.
N. C.
Amazing staff, good food, atmosphere was amazing and they went the extra mile for the kids
J. R. I.
OMG 10 years on Eat17 is just as good if not better. Full to the brim at 11.45 on a Saturday morning, but thankfully we managed to get the only available seats at the bar for the lunch menu that began service at 12.30pm
We were treated to specially made fresh tea to help ward off our persistent colds (thanks Javier), with a Danish pastry as we awaited lunch service and boy was it worth waiting for.
The tender shreds of lamb that made up our shepherds pie was succulent, the creamy mash delicious, plus a side of sautéed green veg fur balance and a glass of Malbec. FOOD HEAVEN on a cold Saturday afternoon.
My only criticism was that is was too much so we had to take half home for later!
What more can I say.... I'LL BE BACK!
Z. R.
A gem tucked away in the back streets of Walthamstow. Great atmosphere with imaginative menu. Sometimes hard to book a large party in. Always busy which shows how good it is. Parking can be an issue during the day.
S. B.
Excellent food, wonderful service and amazingly helpful and polite staff. Beautifully located in lovely walthamstow village. I am yet to try the bacon jam however!!
A. D.
Often quite busy so booking is recommended. Lovely spot for date nights, food is excellent and beautifully presented. Does fantastic breakfasts and has a big selection of cocktails.
P. D.
Great food and great service. For Sunday brunch I recommend booking as it can get pretty busy. Nice location too.
R. J.
A varied menu, I’ve eaten here a number of times and the food is always superb. The cocktails and desserts are also highly recommended.
M. J. L.
Excellent for two things, the roast and the chicken burger. Fish cakes also decent. Used to be magnificent, now trading on its reputation and a bit stuck up
M. T.
Very clean and nice food and friendly staff check it out
A. B.
I've always had a good meal here, and often bring guests when they come from out of town. Varied menu, fresh high quality ingredients, and friendly staff.
O. W.
It's good if you're in a rush but nothing special
P. S.
Walthamstow institution. Food is consistent and hearty and always satisfies. Staff are lovely though the Manager can be moody and often rude, even to regulars, but apart from that, solid.
R. S.
Great but they close the kitchens for breakfast/brunch before 12 noon.
V. K.
Wide range of nice things, vines, sweets, ready to eat meals
B. 9.
I had a nice meal, price was adequate fir what I had, the only disappointment was the desert, we had a strawberry tart and cheesecake, strawberry tart was lacking in strawberry and covered with what I believe was a vanilla cream and the cheesecake was heavy, but the meat was really good and cooked perfectly.
D. M.
17 off us went for a birthday Sunday roast.
Food was really nice, lovely staff, and a relaxing atmosphere. I would go back in a heartbeat.
O. F.
Nice food & friendly staff.
Updated Jan 2020
No hello, no goodbye and got bill without asking for it (Please go?).
Food was nice?, service was very distant...
I. S.
Lovely food. Few but good vegan options. Nice atmosphere and good service.
S. D.
One of the best brekkies of my life - £6 for chorizo beans on toast with a poached egg. What made it were the mix of beans, kidney, chickpea, etc, mixed with the salty crisp chorizo. Gorgeous decoration (Sixties lamps, cosy leather seats), charming staff and pretty cheap - £16 for brunch for two.
C. M.
Great menu and gorgeous food, great setting
G. N.
Beautifully tender pork belly, delicious quinoa & vegetable curry, melt in the mouth lamb, great fish & chips and good wine. Highly recommend.
O. P.
Lovely restaurant at the heart if the Village. Thr burger was perfectly rare and juicy, with tasty cheese. Great cocktail selection, too!
M. K.
Brilliant place and friendly staff. We were 10 of us and the staff managed all our orders very well.
Highly recommended.
N. E.
Great menu, great service, perfect for any time of day, excellent ambiance day and night
J. R.
I can't eat enough of their vegetarian curry. And afogato with salt caramel ice cream. They are very kid friendly too. Love this place!
P. B.
Can get really busy and can be a wait for a table so time your visit well! The buttermilk chicken burgers are a little bite of heaven.
W. P.
They have changed the menu as well as the entrance. Roads are also now pedestrianised as well as certain Road layouts changed. Personally I preferred the old menu however food was still good.
S. R.
Fantastic roast lamb. Not normally a fan of roast dinners in restaurants but the quality was superb. Friendly service in this busy local restaurant.
J. T.
Great staff, great service.
Highly recommend their chicken burger and the wings. I've had it deliveroo'd a few times now.... Would recommend.
G. J.

The outdoors tables in the quiet street are perfect for a sunny day. The burgers are a hit with delicious hand cut crispy fries.
J. B.
Really tasty food. Fairly simple menu but some good options. Will be back to try more.
G. H.
Happening bar/restaurant with attentive staff and some really great dishes - try the duck parpadelle - and known for their bacon jam. Next door's Spa stocks a lot of their condiments etc.
R. W.
A bit pricey but so so worth it. Epic sunday lunch but at £16 + £6-7 dessert (+extra for starters) it won't be something I do every weekend!
P. M.
Went for lunch on a Saturday. Very good food, great wine and kind and attentive staff. Highly recommended
M. M.
Was nice, but not amazing. Halloumi fries excellent, gnocchi a bit forgettable. Friendly service and nice decor though.
C. H.
Great place for brunch and lunch! Brunch finishes 12, great drinks as well! Would definitely recommend.
D. P.
Superb sunday brunch, definitely worth the wait for a table. Service could be better. Warning: family friendly (i.e. noisy kids).
V. D.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Service could be a little faster but it's charming anyway.
M. D.
Very attentive staff. Food was good. Music was a bit loud in there. Not if thays how it is everyday... it was a saturday... me and my party thought it was unnessarily loud.
H. M.
Very good
P. C.
5* all round, for hospitality, service, food, and thoughtful drinks selection.
E. Y.
Normally really great service and food, but last time we came it took a while to have our order taken. Which was then incorrect and had to be recooked which took even longer.
s. m.

Chris Street, 125 ml is small, 175 ml iarge, garrafe 375 ml. That applies to orford Road and Twickenham. Food is gorgeous, price according to home made effort
H. M.
Table10 minutes late despite booking , then 45 minute wait for food. Although food was good when it arrived!
K. D.
First class food and service.
M. S.
Food was very good but menu is limited and strange that breakfast/brunch stops at 12. Service wasn't very friendly.
