Brilliant brunch! The ambiance is everything. You walk in and you feel like you're in Roma, Mexico City. The food was delicious and the mains came with a plate of freshly made, warm blue corn tortillas on the side with a thick napkin - exactly like in Mexico and possibly the only Mexican restaurant in London that does this! Food was really delicious and the brunch deal with 3 courses and bottomless margaritas for £55 was definitely worth it. The service was also excellent from the very moment you enter until the moment you leave. The only reason it was a 4 and not a 5 star is that the mains were quite overcooked and slightly charred but maybe this is how it's meant to be. The pink chocolate dip that came with the churro was also quite lacklustre in taste. That said, it was such a nice afternoon that if I could give it 4.5 stars then I definitely would!
N. M.
Bottomless margaritas were amazing, starter (fish tacos) and dessert (churros) were brilliant and couldn't fault them at all. Our only disappointment was the torta aghora main which came out with soggy wet bread and very plain pulled pork.
K. M.
We went for bottomless brunch and it was fantastic all the way through. Food was delicious, drinks were great, four different flavours of margarita, and there was a steady flow of drinks throughout the booking. Beautiful decor and friendly staff too!

Ella Canta has the most welcoming staff of all the posh London restaurants that I visited.
For my first visit I went for the set menu. The margarita was excellent, first course (squid) was good, and the duck mole was very tasty.
I had churros for desert. The chocolate and caramel that came with them were very nice.
During the second visit we went for drinks only and the bar staff welcomed us in even if it was before the official opening time. We had great cocktails again.
Definitely a restaurant worth going back to.

Ella Canta adds spice to Mayfair/Park Lane. The restaurant is stunning and the food is delicious, creative and full of wonderful flavors! Allow the chef to design a tasting menu and be ready to embark on a Mexican journey. Margaritas are excellent and will keep you coming back for more.
I wish the restaurant was in a better location because Londoners do not socialize on Park Lane - only tourists! It’s a bit ‘out of sight out of mind’ in that respect.

Had a great meal here with friends. We got lots of plates to share which is a nice way to eat here as it allowed us to try a lot of dishes. Overall, the food was very interesting and packed with flavour. Small criticism is that our mains seemed quite ‘samey’ in texture (shredded duck, pork, beef cheek etc.). Would have liked a little more contrast. Found the duck mole and rice pudding dessert especially memorable. Ambience was chilled and the service informal yet efficient. Also serve a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Will visit again.

The food was exquisite. Crafted by skilled chefs with knowledge of fine dining.
The wine list is a conglomerate of "New World" wines. Delicious.

Update...went for the gold menu tonight. The sea bass ceviche was delicious. Mango and pineapple sorbet with chilli sauce so good.
Service was impeccable as usual.
Maddie was very friendly and helpful - she deserves a promotion $$$ 👍😉
Further update...25 Dec 19...happy to be accomodated at short notice. Very impressed as the restaurant is in high demand. Wonderful service again. Impeccable manners and extensive knowledge of the menu...indication of a well-run restaurant. The maître d' has a close-knit team. Cristiano is a brilliant waiter; he ensured we had a wonderful dining experience.
The hotel general manager was available to discuss the menu and was receptive to suggestions.
The a la carte menu is high quality and a fine-dining experience nobody should miss.
Latest visit - Amadeo was absolutely brilliant when serving us for a birthday celebration. Glasses were never empty. Amadeo's knowledge of the menu was so extensive we loved everything he recommended. The mexican lamb dish with pistachio and garlic dressing was pure luxury.
Cocktails were special in aztec cups. The BEST cocktails in London.
Amadeo made the evening such a special occasion. Superstar.
Thanks to Maddie for the great welcome and special table 😁

Excellent Mexican food from the great Mexican chef Martha Ortiz. Food is superb quality and cocktails are great. Service impecable, we were there in their opening night and evening was flawless. My only "complaints" would be the music which was very chill out style, just at the end they played some Mexican music, and their wine list didn't include many Mexican wines, but that is more a personal opinion. 100% recommended
T. H.
Great atmosphere, great service, delicious margaritas and fantastic food. We even had a visit from Martha Ortiz, the head chef who developed the menu and all of the dishes. The 3 course brunch menu is amazing value for money - Would definitely recommend and I'll definitely be going back.

Wow, what a restaurant! Absolutely worthy of 5 stars.
On walking in it’s clear to see and feel that a lot of effort has been put in. It’s really cool, ambient and relaxed.
The service from the first minute was incredible. Shout out especially to Avangelos (not sure I’ve spelt it right, but his nickname is Batman 🦇). He really went out of his way to make it a special, relaxed and enjoyable experience. The girl who also served us was also amazing, but didn’t get her name.
The food was also amazing.
We started with the guacamole and tortilla chips (Guacamole Nacionalista, las joyas Mexicanas* / Nationalistic guacamole, fresh cheese, pomegranate and gold grasshopper) which were spot on.
We then had the four different quesadillas. Multicoloured quesadillas - Poblano chile and cheese, wild mushroom and cheese, beef and cheese, zucchini flower and cheese. Different colours and different fillings. Especially loved the beef and Poblano. Lots of flavour.
Next we had the Shrimps with guajillo chile, lime leaves and oregano mayonnaise. The prawns were huge and juicy. And also the Sea bass ceviche, mango, sangrita sorbet. This was a flavour sensation! So delicious. The different flavours, textures and heats were incredible.
For the “Main Act” we had the Duck with black mole, plantain purée, red rice & the Carnitas(Slow cooked pork, radish, avocado sauce).
The duck with black mole was the only thing we ate that we didn’t like. We thought it was far too smoky, on the verge of acrid. I think it’s one of those dishes, like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I like the fact they haven’t played it safe.
The carnitas, however, was delicious. Batman made our first ones for us at the table which was a nice touch.
We ordered some churros to end, and as it was our anniversary they brought us an absolutely incredible little cake. I loved it.
Batman also organised a little mezcal tasting for us which was fun.
All in all, an incredible experience. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved it! Came for the weekend brunch with my partner and mum, the service was fantastic and everyone was genuinely lovely. Food was very good and can’t wait to come back to try some of the things that weren’t on the brunch menu.
A. H.
Had a lovely meal here. The staff were very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly and were happy to answer any questions. The food was delicious and the two margaritas that I had were fantastic
l.
Excellent mexican fussion restaurant with a beautiful setup. We had an amazing evening with life mexican music for San valentine's. The dishes were carefully presented and very tasty, with the right portions. Nice coktails and wine list. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They do have a cocktail bar in case you fancy another drink afterwards.

We had an amazing dinner at Ella Canta last night. Every single dish we tried was absolutely fantastic. The pork in the pork carnitas was the best I’ve ever eaten. So tender and wonderful flavor. We loved our starters too, especially the esquites (Mexican corn soup). The delicious cocktails are also not to be missed! I will be back at Ella Canta as soon as I can to enjoy the ambiance, wonderfully attentive service and delicious food.

We Celebrated my sister Birthday, we had as first Tamal and Octopus, Tamal remind me my birthplace Venezuela very tasty indeed, octopus was cook well with fresh flavours. As seconds we had the Lamb and Mole duck, I was reluctant to eat duck and cocoa but combination is nice indeed, mole overpowered the duck a bit but very enjoyable. As desert we asked for Nieves but they run out, they offered us a kind of chocolate fondant with corn sauce, did flow, so was perfect chocolate was not so sweet, as stand alone I happily have a second one! To close we had coffee with guava foam and chocolate, veey nive both, special mention the coffee was unusual in a good way. Servive was very attentive and knowledgeable. Ambience was OK. Almost forgot the drinks Margarita Coa de Jima and an Onca, both very refreshing with a little kick. Looking forward to going back.
P.
Superb food, service and drinks. The restaurant is a great experience and perfect for special occasions. The dishes are vibrant, mouth watering and interesting and our second visit was as interesting and as enjoyable as the first
B. M.
The most authentic Mexican I have found in London. We had tacos, pulpo, camarones, carnitas and pastel de tres leches. Tacos were good but the rest of the plates were superb!!! Service was very nice and attentive, explaining all dishes. Ambience is top: the decoration is really something to see and the dj played good songs (Mexican but also Latin and Spanish). There was another area for a bar, I think thats what I'll try on my next visit!
D. D.
Fantastic food with very nice service and presentation in a classy but relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed every dish, so it's hard to pick a highlight, but I'd especially recommend the pickled salmon tostada and the duck mole. The tres leches was also an excellent end to the meal. While my partner and I are pretty familiar with Mexican cuisine, the couple sitting next to us were not and we heard the servers giving them good guidance when picking dishes.

Beautiful setting for Contemporary Mexican cuisine, the food and drinks were exceeding our expectations and truly solid and unexpected. It has its own authenticity that makes you feel you are abroad in Mexico already!
S. N.
Ella Canta is probably the best fine Mexican restaurant outside of Mexico City. It's a fusion of great cocktails and amazing food in a welcoming and friendly Mexican inspired layout. Occasionally Mexican bands play but that only adds to the experience. It's in the corner of the Intercontinental hotel, and is still a bit of an unknown gem.

We had the pleasure to experience the "Painted Black" Menu at Ella Canta. The place is styled in what seems to be like a Mexico of the 1940s Style which strikes a nice balance between elegant and intimate. The service has been exceptional from start to finish, everyone was very attentive and helpful throughout the evening. We very much liked that the staff was having their face painted, which was a nice touch to celebrate the "Day of the dead". The food was spectacular, with the "Costilla de res en adobo de ceniza negra, aguacate" (Short rib, black adobo, avocado purée, radish, purple basil) being the highlight. Meat and fish was tender and fresh, the presentation beautiful and the flavours complex and inspired. An absolute highlight was the presentation of the desert with a small handmade ferris wheel from Mexico. All four cocktails we tried were exceptional and are an absolute must to complement the dishes. Unfortunately, the menu we have tried will be time limited, but I am sure that it represents the overall quality of the food at this place. We can definitely recommend Ella Canta for lovers of real Mexican cuisine and those who want to try it!
M. S.
High end Mexican. Some really interesting dishes. Mole duck a highlight. Creative cocktails and friendly staff. The 3 course meal deal is great value and highly recommends.
C. P.
This place is absolutely incredible!! The food is stunning, I still can’t believe you can have the best gourmet Mexican food in an area (Mayfair) which tends to have only traditional English (but posh) food. Try the duck mole, it is to die for!
Ella Canta just nailed it all: funky atmosphere, very vey friendly staff (and international, not pretentious Mayfair style). There is a great bar, which menu is crazy: the best margaritas you will ever have! The DJ was also great, playing fun/modern Latin music all the way. The place is pricey... but it was certainly worth the experience.
M. S.
The mexican food was full of flavour although limited choices on the bottomless lunch. The waiters were exceptional, quickly building a rapport with everyone.
It dropped a star due to lack of clarity around the alcohol allowed for bottomless lunch. The whole table must agree on Margaritas or sparkling wine. It cannot be a mix of both. This was not mentioned in the booking or on the website.
There can be exceptions for example I have an allergy to sparkling wine so was allowed to be the only person having Margaritas.

This was a fantastic restaurant. I pleasantly enjoyed every moment of our new year dining at this particular place, All the delicious food was served with pure kindness of the waiters/waitresses, I strongly recommend, Thank you so much to the staff and the restaurant for giving me an unforgettable new year celebration experience.
T. D.
Lovely space, great staff but the food was just missing something special to make it worth going back for. Amazing range of great cocktails softened the blow, and very attentive staff also.
M. O.
The ambiance and design of the restaurant were pleasant. The food presentation was great, and the drinks were delicious. Our food was a bit bland, but we overall enjoyed our experience.
A. S.
Really nice service. The tasting menu is pricy at £85 but includes many nice options and some good Champaign. Only drawback was the atmosphere, felt like more of a hotel restaurant with the decour than a true upscale Mexican restaurant.
X. W.
Good selection of drinks. Nice spicy margaritas. Food was pretty decent overall, the lamb was excellent.
I. L.
Delicious food with great service, and beautiful menus! The Pork carnita main and the passion fruit ceviche is a must try. Will definitely visit again.
J. J.
Enjoyed the meal & the brunch special was good. Wish they gave out more tortillas tho. Staff were friendly & attentive. Get the queso fundido. Skip the seafood "soupy" cocktail.
H. L.
Nice, upscale mexican food, but a bit overpriced. Dishes are fancy, but seasoning and freshness wasn’t the best.
K. P.
Mixed feelings about this place... In essence, it felt like a place that tries really hard to be cool with dark lighting, too loud music and odd ingredients to otherwise very tasty dishes, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark.
R. H.
What a lovely spot in London. I’ve been here a few times now and can comfortably say in quality of food, this is the best Mexican place in town at the moment. The flavour is extraordinary, and for once, a Mexican place in the UK is able to get the spice right on there food (provided you ask!) clearly the best quality ingredients are being used and cooked by the best chefs, and the drinks are fantastic! Service staff are very very welcoming and friendly and they make effort to treat you better each time you visit. I would comfortably recommend it
K. B.
My wife and I went here on a Friday night for our anniversary. The food is very impressive! Beautifully presented and the flavours amazing. The staff and service equally excellent. The restaurant itself is also very nice and is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Park Lane. On a Friday night it was a quite a hustling and bustling environment with many couples, friends and families enjoying the atmosphere, service and brilliant food which is the most important to us. We will definitely return to try some more the delicious menu.
C. M.
Great Mexican Restaurant, lots of staff who were very friendly and helpful! Food was good, cocktails too! Great atmosphere! Would recommend...
S. C.
Beautiful, authentic Mexican experience!! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the staff is so nice and smiley we felt so taken care of! It took us a while to choose from the menu but the waiters were extremely helpful and explained everything. The food was so full of flavours and even the choice of the plates was incredible. Totally suggest to try the cocktails because they are quite unique!!
We'll go back soon :)
T. B.
The food was overall OK, but the fried dishes were dripping in oil. The cocktails were too sweet. The service was friendly but a bit too informal. The worst part was the music; I don't know if this just happens on Friday nights but the DJ was playing non-stop salsa and other generic loud Latin music that made the whole experience seem very far removed from fine dining or high-end. The only amazing thing about the restaurant was the decor.
J. S.
Had a gorgeous Valentine's day meal here, with a special set menu. The staff were really attentive and we were well looked after. The food was really delicious, and it was a new angle on Mexican food for us. Loved it here and will definitely be going back.
P. M.
I've been here four times, one valentine's, one relationship anniversary and one wedding anniversary. Every single time it has been an amazing experience. As Mexican, I recognise the food per se it's not authentic. However, the way the chef plays with the flavours and textures is fantastic. I love the food and find they have a decent range for vegetarians although I would add more options, especially for the mains. The cocktails are simply delicious, all of them which I have tried already. I see some people complain about the price, but it's even stated as a '££££' restaurant when you search for the restaurant, do not expect to pay less than £200 per 2 people. Staff has always been amicable and helpful.
R. H.
Really good and interesting take on Mexican cuisine. A wide variety of options and many dishes can be adapted for vegetarian options.
Friendly service and attentive staff. Good understanding of the dishes and beautifully presented.
Music and ambiance is quite load so difficult to hear the people you are dining with.
J. R.
If you want authentic Mexican food, then come here. The flavours are intense, but not overpowering, and the variety is wonderful. You know how margaritas always have loads of ice to disguise how little alcohol is in it? Not here... no ice, just amazing taste, and not wallowing in salt, either. Guitarist was perfect. Staff are attentive, humorous and above all helpful. If I had once teensy weensy notion of what could improve the restaurant, it would be some hangings on the wall to absorb some of the noise. Or carpet. Because it's one big seating area, the noise level climbs as the restaurant fills, making it difficult to hold a normal conversation... Am I going back? Hell yes, there's so much more on the menu I want to try. Full marks well deserved.
V.
Food is decent but far too expensive for what it is. Also disappointingly they ran out of one of their main courses (lamb ribs) when we tried to order it. I had pork carnitas for main which was tender with a nice spicy sauce but it's not worth what you pay for it (£30). Starters are way overpriced relative to portion size / quality too. If you do go have the Aztec hot chocolate though - it has chillies it in and was
very nice.
j. K.
Really enjoyed our culinary experience here. Food was lovely and service was great. We were given a warm welcome and complimentary spicy corn nuts (yum!!) With our tasty cocktails. Only slight negative is that service was occasionally a bit slow. But overall very happy with our experience
S. H.
The concept is great: swanky Mexican cuisine. But the food is disappointing for the price.
We had the tasting menu, which the bubbly staff claimed had a 'sensual' theme. The actual theme was 'unremarkable'. A scallop ceviche should always be a taste sensation, but somehow it failed to excite. The same could be said for most of the other dishes.
While the staff were friendly and enthusiastic the hard sell was a bit too obvious, making for a faintly pressured environment.
The cocktails were the highlight here, which is a massive shame. Mexican food is so exciting and Martha Ortiz can do better than this.
S. A.
The fish tacos were very nice but my lamb main was nothing special. Just a standard lamb shank with some chickpeas. My wife had the pulled port in 'Mexican bread' which turned out to be French bread. Basically a very expensive pulled pork sandwich. Atmosphere was nice but for the high price I would have expected more of the food.
S.
UPDATE: 6 stars
This the best Mexican food I have had in London. (It's not the usual rice and beans slop, so if that's what you are in the mood for, go elsewhere.)
With this kind of cuisine, I suggest going with friends and ordering lots of different dishes as the cumulative effect of multiple flavours makes it even more delicious.
It's reasonably priced (for London) and everything we ate was delicious, although we were a little perplexed by the sorbet ceviche.
The service was warm and welcoming, extremely attentive but not obtrusive. It ticked all the boxes for how a restaurant should be run.
It has a nice warm design, but it does get terribly loud at times. Not really somewhere to go for a quiet chat.
My only quibble would be with the margaritas, that were very weak and not quite right. But the restaurant still deserves 5 stars.
(And if you love Mexican food, I highly recommend La Loteria in NYC where chef Julieta Ballesteros has created a fantastic symphony of modern Mexican flavours. It's not the greatest decor but remains the best Mexican food I have had in the past few years.)
J. M.
Food: absolutely delicious. Although it seems pricey, because you share everything, the end cost is less than you expect which is a pleasant surprise. The Beef in the Mains section of the menu is sensational. We also enjoyed the pork and the duck, fish was nice but could live without. The halloumi fries were excellent, and the rice.... mmmmm. Highly recommend. Oh and the churros for dessert was also lovely.
Service: overall good and attentive. I did have a long wait in between drinks and had to ask a second tome which was frustrating but overall good.
Setting: atmosphere was good, beautiful decor. If you were a couple, you might get disheartened by the groups of men sat on their phones not talking, but go as a group and you won’t notice. Saw a couple of large round tables too which would be excellent for bigger group bookings eg 10 people.
Would recommend.
Paid about £65 per head in our group for those on soft drinks, and about £105 per head for those drinking wine and 2 cocktails each.
C. H.
Lovely interior design.
Very welcoming, friendly staff.
Beautiful 'uniform' in fitting with the surroundings.
The octopus starter was the best octopus I have ever had. The flavours were just spot on and the octopus so tender.
The salmon starter was nothing to write home about.
Main course, we tried black cod and steak fillet. The cod was delicious. The fillet steak was so salty that it was almost inedible but I think this may have been a one off seasoning issue. The steak quality was superb and when we raised the issue about seasoning we were more than satisfied with the reaction which was to offer an alternative. We chose to share a dessert and the waitress offered to choose for us....bringing two desserts both of which were amazing but the cheesecake was something else. We both fell silent because the cheesecake was so subtly flavoured with a great texture that you had to savour in silence. I am very fussy about my cheesecake. This one was probably the best I have ever had (and ive had a few!)
Well worth a visit .....if you don't mind music quite loud. It was tolerable but a bit too loud for my taste.
L. M.
It was disappointing from the start. The hostess blatantly Doubted our reservation until I show her my confirmation email. She then seated us next to a large group to whom our waiter ONLY had eyes and attention for. He forgot items we asked for and never asked how our meal was. We stayed at the Intercontinental that week and finally decided to try Ella Canta for something special on our last night in London. The food on the bright side was absolutely delicious and the Drinks were impressive. It’s a shame the service was far less than perfect for the $$$$. For the lack of service I give it 3 stars.
R. F.
Great ambiance, if a little too dark to see the cocktail list, which were lovely. It took an hour for the rest of the table to get a drink, thank goodness I got one in at the bar first! Food was fine, was excited about the cooked ceaser salad but actually nothing special and my main of turbot was cold, although when recooked was very tasty. Clearing plates when some of the table still eating unforgivable. Ran out of time for dessert. Go back? No.
I. H.
I am giving this restaurant 3 stars because the servers were lovely in their themed costumes and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. However, we were very disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food for such an expensive restaurant. The starters were good, notably the fish tacos, but I’ve had better and less expensive guacamole and the octopus tostadas were just ok. The worst of all was really the main dishes. Very small portions and three of us ordered the pork stuffed Mexican bread which turned out really to be mostly a big piece of baguette “drowning” (ironically exactly as the name of the dish) in a tomatoey sauce with practically no meat whatsoever! The beef dish which cost an additional 5 pounds for the brunch menu, was a bit of a larger serving but very fatty. All side dishes were an extra charge. The margaritas were nice although a bit on the sweet side and even though for brunch they advertise that for 90 minutes drinks are included, they serve you 4 small drinks paced throughout the meal. The excellent desserts were worth the other star I have given the restaurant. Truly I would have liked to enjoy this more as it was a special occasion, and while I don’t mind paying ££££ for good value, this was one of the most disappointing meals regardless of the beautiful setting.
L. F. R.
One of the best meals I have had in my life. Truly special. I have travelled all over the world and eaten at amazing restaurants my entire life as my dad always enjoyed following the Michelin guide. Food was absolutely magnificent. Service was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. And ambiance was outstanding.

I visited Ella Canta on 22 Dec with four friends. We had the bottomless brunch and the starters, mains and deserts were all delicious and beautifully presented. The drinks were also amazing and non stop with a choice of 4 different flavours of margarita. The decor and atmosphere was so great we didnt want to leave. Finally the service from the moment we walked in was 1st class. Cristiano and Mono who looked after us were fantastic as were all the staff we came into contact with. We will definately be returning.
A. G.
Mexican theme and food, inside the Intercontinental hope on Park Lane. Food was cold, service was ok.
C. M.
Great food and excellent service, had a little snag with main meals but was sorted quickly and effectively. Beautiful decor and fantastic cocktails. Food is creative but authentic, dropped one star as some of the dishes don’t justify the high price tags in my opinion.
K. N.
I took my friend for a birthday dinner at Ella Canta last night and I can't fault it. The food was lovely and the staff were absolutely amazing. Upon hearing that it was a birthday celebration they surprised my friend with a cake with a candle in and a really generous special gift for her. It was truly really sweet and made the evening extra lovely.
A. K.
A very good Mexican meal well worth trying. Sadly brunch menu did not include the tasting menu, so I feel I missed out on the true test of their culinary skills. Still, great frijoles side dish and pork main (and I mean great pork dish!), although the octopus starter did lack some of the bold flavour I was expecting.
S. L.
We hosted a work brunch for 22 people on a Sunday afternoon and couldn’t have been more pleased. The staff was engaging, personable, organised, and responsive; the food creative yet true to form, colourful, and plentiful. The guests, many of which had only recently moved to London, truly experienced a vibrant but hospitable first taste of the city. Thank you to the host staff, servers, and kitchen for a memorable afternoon!
R. M.
Absolutely loved this place - the innovative, creative and exciting approach to Mexican food makes for a spectacular feast you're not likely to forget in a hurry! Make sure you try the cocktails (the bar team are incredible) and eat as much of the stunning menu as you can - every new plate that appears will delight you. A definite winner!
T. C. M.
Absolutely loved it. Great food, great service. Not cheap, but worth it for a treat! The staff were super friendly. We celebrated our anniversary there and they made my Mexican wife feel very much at home!
d. b.
The restaurant is nice but no ideal for those who want to have a cibversation over dunber as there is a DJ playing quite loud music. The food looked interesting and was well presented, but in my opinion was not particularly "Mexican"
Everything was quite mild in flavour and not exciting or flavoursome like I had hoped.
I'm sure they are relying on the quality of the ingredients to make the dishes fabulous however it was all a little plain for my liking would have liked to have seen more fresh tomatoes, red onions and fresh herbs and spices.
That said the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, the menu is a little "fussy" in the sense that it's complex and not a straightforward as one would like but once you've taken your time to read slowly over it and absorb the information you can then make a decision. Great for groups in my opion but not one that lends itself to couples unless you don't want to talk!
A.
I have to admit I had never been to a Mexican restaurant before and it was the first time I had Mexican food, however, both the food and the service were exquisite.
I thoroughly enjoyed each dish and cocktail, and service from all the staff was top notch.
Nunzio, our waiter, was especially attentive and helpful!
Overall, it was a really good experience!

I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and so my partner and I decided to take a visiting friend there for the Sunday brunch. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was warm and not overbearing, however the food was a bit of a disappointment.
The starters were well presented but tiny and we all felt our dishes were under seasoned. I had the octopus tostada, we also had the shrimp aguachile and the guacamole, all a little bland. For the main I got the slow cooked beef which was dry, tough, and again under seasoned. Our friend got the pork stuffed in bread which was almost all bread. The lamb ribs with potato were tasty, but not particularly exciting.
The churros were, however, delicious. As were all of the margaritas which were promptly replenished.
The restaurant, unfortunately, was more style over substance. Beautiful design and great service however the food was disappointing.
K. M.
Simply perfectection in every way. So much care goes into the quality of every dish from entrees to desserts. Excellently prepared authentic Mexican cuisine. I can’t wait to visit again. I eat at Ella Canta on every visit to London, on a recent visit August 1 2019 the experience was absolutely amazing, the restaurant is beautiful the staff is fantastic the food is the best authentic mexican in the UK
A. P.
Such a tasty night at Ella Canta! The vibrant, colorful aesthetic of the food and drink matched the array of flavors and textures experienced when eaten. I especially enjoyed the salmon tostadas and the guacamole. Very friendly and attentive staff. Will be back soon!

Visited this place last November with couple of friends.
Completely not knowing what to expect, as Mexican food has never been one of my top choices.
I wasn't prepared for my mind (taste buds) to be blow!!!
Fantastic atmpsphere! Food was exceptional. Presentaton of it fabulous. The service, run by Vladimir, was an excellent 5* service - one step ahead of our needs all the time!!
Oh and the coctails! Ahhhh - the coctails... A drop of Heaven in the mouth.
Slightly pricey but overall a superb experience I would highly recommend to anyone :-)))))

Took advantage of Ella Canta's brunch offer, which involves four different flavours of bottomless margaritas and a choice of starters, mains and desserts from the a la carte menu. Chef Martha Ortiz is highly regarded, but I found the experience to be a mix of highs and lows. The drinks were topped up relatively swiftly and were Most of the food was serviceable - the guacamole (an optional extra not included in the brunch offer) was fine, as were the fish taco starters and the beef suadero main was ok, The aguachile was delicious, albeit not as distinctive as the one I enjoyed at Punto MX in Madrid. The Torta ahogada was a standout disappointment - described on the menu as Mexican bread filled with slow cooked pork and red sauce, it turned out to be a baguette stuffed with underseasoned pulled pork covered in what looked (and tasted) like Heinz tomato soup. However, the dessert menu came to the rescue with delicious, slightly chewy churros served with both chocolate and caramel dipping sauces and a generous basket of slightly sweet pastries that were by some distance the best dish of the day.
There's a decent amount of food on offer, and a handful of dishes were truly memorable, with polite service in a light, airy space (and immaculate restrooms). However, the food was a little too uneven to encourage me to return any time soon.

I was aware of Martha Ortiz’s new London restaurant and had dined at Dulce Patria in méxico city. So, I was excited to take my London friend to the Intercontinental at Hyde Park Corner and the Ella Canta restaurant.
Our server, Manuel, appeared also to be a front manager, at least based on his manner, ease, and knowledge. He was engaging and talked foodie with me given we’d done our homework on Ortiz and the restaurant’s specialties. He suggested options where needed in the ordering process and gave detailed input on the dishes.
We opted for the tasting menu and added the Cordero main, even though we knew it was to be a lot of food. We also selected the bottomless margaritas, which were great. There were four unique, signature margaritas, which were tasty and creative. We then had classic margaritas, all part of the lunch menu.
The meal itself was lovely. Great flavors, spicy add-ons like salsa negra and habanero purée for the adventurous. The lamb and beef were highlights, the guacamole fresh and bright, and the tortillas were tender and housemade.
We saved room for dessert, and Manuel surprised us with a tres leches cake, which was not on the day menu. I asked about it, as it’s one of my favorite desserts, and Manuel made it happen. Needless to say, he went out of his way to make this a lovely, special lunch. We ate no dinner that day, as the portions were plenty. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved dining at Ella Canta! We were a big group of 30 adults and 6 children for the brunch menu. I chose Ella Canta for my husband’s surprise 40th and the entire event planning / booking process to the service and quality of food on the day was impeccable! The food was delicious and portions were generous, there was also an unlimited margarita / agua fresca special at the time which went down a treat! The restaurant is also very beautiful! We are looking forward to dining here again! Thank you Ella Canta!

I went here based on good reviews from critics and was generally happy, but it was not quite as good as I had expected.
First the positives: cocktails were excellent, food was well presented and authentic, generous main portions, great quality ingredients, very attentive service from the waiting staff
The negatives: certain items were very overpriced (£5 for a bottle of water), there was a lack of clarity regarding charges (e.g you are offered guacamole when you are seated which gives the impression that this is complimentary, but actually you will be charged £9 for it); we were charged for the birthday dessert they bought out for my partner, when I queried it the charge was removed without any problems but I found this cheeky and a bit awkward. I wouldn't have minded had I been informed of a charge before hand, but that was not the case.
I'd go back but probably only for a set/tasting menu as value for money wasn't as good as other comparable places in London.

Nice experience. Amazing food and staff

The service was great. New world wines usually are not my first choice but we found some great Californian examples on the list. I just wish that the food was not that salty. However very cool evening.

I have been with my mother and my uncle, they don’t like spicy food!!! Doriana and Evangelous did a brilliant job helping my mother to choose only not spicy food !! She was super happy and my uncle too!! Specially with Malbecs and good tequila 😂😂
The goof is superb, grate team work and service!!! Beautiful night!!
Best dishes: Guacamole, pulpo, Carnita, tres leces and churros

Went here for dinner on Valentine's day, so we ate from a set menu. I thought the food was ok but nothing spectacular, really. They had a guitarist and singer playing that night and also gave roses to all the female guests, which was a nice touch. Don't think I'll be rushing back for the food though.

A spontaneous dinner at Ella Canta turned out to be a full blown unforgettable experience full of taste, variety of colours and the stories shared by chef Martha Ortiz herself accompanied by the great staff although the food spoke for itself!
Ella Canta is a total must-go experience destination where the food is as fierce as the superwoman chef behind the brand.

Excellent food, inventive menu, beautifully presented. Service was very attentive and professional. Did we mention this is excellent MEXICAN food in LONDON? Yes look no further for the best Mexican food in town.👌 Visited April 2019.

Fantastic atmosphere matched with beautiful flavours of traditional mexican food. Loved it so much ended up going back for Sunday brunch. The Mexcal cocktails were incredible too with a vast selction on offer. Thoroughly recommend & about time London got a Traditional Mexican aside from street food.

Really really fun! And the food was amazing! We had so many different dishes and starters I got lost! Attentive stafd and super service! The food was perfect and the ambience too... Cool when people started to tango in the restaurant haha! Lovely experience! Go for it!!!! And try a cricket too!

Just astounding.
Some of the best food we’ve eaten anywhere.
The Margarita menu was explained to us fully by our most helpful waiter Luca - my wife likes them particularly sour and that is what she got from his recommendation- a “Mayahuel”. Lovely. Mine came in a Mexican deaths-head mug and was a richer sweeter sort of Margarita called a “Calavera”, again, absolutely lovely.
What a great start!
We had the lunch set menu - and had all the starter options and shared between us.
I don’t normally try oysters but this one looked so lovely I had to - and it was great.
Stuffed Panucho, Mushroom and courgette mix were lovely but the Trio of Ceviche was the best starter there I think. The “Red Vampire” was one of those things you eat and find yourself drifting off thinking about the tastes you have just had. Subtle hot, sour and sweet all around the lime juice ceviched sea bass… hmmm… I’m salivating again now.
Alongside the starters we had the Agua Fresca from the choice with the menu: Tamarind and Chile as a drink was just fascinating! Hibiscus with mexican spices similarly (better for my sweeter tooth)
Mains: I had the Aguascalientes style suckling shredded pork with accoutrements to make into little tortillas at the table. Really good pork and fun to do it yourself at the table.
My wife had the Chicken Enmoladas with black mole sauce. There is nothing else in the world that we have eaten quite like the mole sauce. What were those flavours through it?
Again we discussed the variety of textures and flavours all through the meal.
Not as much as we discussed the beers. Beer with a mexican meal sounded right but I had never had, nor even heard of, a Michelada. Again the knowledgeable Luca explained the addition of a tart mix to the beer made of lime juice/tomato/clam sauce/spices…. So we both had to have one: mine being with a darker, sweeter beer; my wifes with a lighter sharper lager… both so refreshing. Like a beery version of a Bloody Mary.
There was an enticing sounding array of Sorbets asa pudding choice but we both couldn’t avoid the Churros: the finest, lightest Churros we have ever had with a sort of off-sweet chocolate sauce - again, a flavour in there with it that I couldn’t put my finger on…. And the lovely dolce de leche dipping sauce to balance the chocolate.
Three cheers for the churros!
Coffees came out: mine the sort of mocha covered in guava and agave cream/foam with cinnamon. Deb had a more straightforward mexican spiced hot chocolate.
Then Luca treated us to a Mezcal with spiced salt and citrus slice… sipped it was like having a smooth malt whisky.
Never had Mezcal before so will have to track a bottle of this down. SO much better than normal Tequilas we have had.
A little petit-fours Chocolate to finish and we were done.
We headed out into the cold of Hyde Park Corner from the warmth and comfort and themed decor of the restaurant and kept talking about it all afternoon on and off…
If I feel particularly flush and we are back in London sometime we might have to go for the 8 course tasting menu.
Go back? Definitely.

Love this place!! I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s a wonderful place to know the Mexican cuisine, enjoy the music, the place and of course have the best food ever! 😍 The cocktails are also amazing!
You have to give it a try!

Me and my husband went for Saturday brunch. Absolutely loved it. Great food and drinks. Great value for money. Service was lovely and also loved the decor. Definitely will be returning.

I had high expectations, but was left a bit disappointed. The atmosphere was pretty thin, the service was just ok (not great) and the food was decent, but with small portions and overpriced. Came to about £80 per person. Overall not bad, not good, somewhere in between. I wouldn't recommend it.
K. G. N. M.
What an amazing experience. Thank you very much for going above and beyond our expectations 😊😊
H. P.
I was not impressed with this place at all. I also don't think Mexican food lends itself too well to fine dining for obvious reasons and the prices are just through the roof. Otherwise it was a pleasant place and good for groups. I don't think it will last too long though that location demands something way better.
T. R.
Definitely got better as the meal went on. It was all nice but starters werent that special. The lamb main and the tres leche dessert however were excellent. Bit pricey but couldn't fault the service.
S.
Went for the bottomless brunch. Service was great, margaritas were delicious and the food was yummy. Definitely worth the money and was really fancy!

One of the best meals I've had in London
H. D.
Authentic, upscale Mexican cuisine has arrived to London via Ella Canta! The food, inspired by Martha Ortiz, is amazing and exotic. The cocktails are innovative, the maguey plant is revered; the space is modern Mexico and on point; the music and vibe is cultured and the team are sexy, several channelling Frida Kahlo oh-so-well. Reminds me of being back in the Palonco district of Mexico City.
J.
Incredible food! The servers knew exactly what to recommend for personal taste and beverages to complement it. Giving it any less than 4 or 5 stars would be an insult
B. H.
Exceptional food, very welcoming staff members, consistently excellent vibes. They charge convenient pricing and the food quality is awesome. Keep it up.
S. L.
Came here for our anniversary. Not an inexpensive affair by any means, but the experience reflects that. Absolutely amazing afternoon with unbelievable food and drink.

J. S.
Service was exceptional, with detailed information on our meals and very attentive staff. delicious, fresh food and innovative presentation. thank you!
H. E.
Fun place, good food, great service. 3 stars though because I’m not convinced the price tag is justified for what is essentially a posh Wahaca; not quite the quality differentiation I had expected.
