Reviews of Golden Dragon Chinatown

Absolutely delicious, wow!
My boyfriend and I went here on a whim for Valentine’s Day because the place we originally reserved didn’t have what we wanted.
I love Peking cuisine but it was his first time, I’m so happy he loved it because it was amazing 😍 on our bucket list for when we return to London!
We had steamed garlic prawns, honey barbecued pork, chicken, and mixed veg fried rice. All good!!!

Very good Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown.
We been for dim sum for lunch and everything was good, from hot tea to the meat.
Good friendly staff.
Really recommend

Wonderful Chinese restaurant, with some good outdoor sitting @ China Town, Soho!
The sad bit that the server told us that the government is taking off the road side seating from next month - which they may have their own valid reasons for.
But the food here was excellent and even for vegans on our table they were quite happy.
Recommended!

Delicious! I wish I could name the dumplings we ordered so I could better describe them here but I can say I loved every single one of them. Super flavourful and generous portions at a very reasonable price. Service was fast too.
H. B.
Absolutely delicious dim sum at great prices. Pumpkin Purple Potato Cakes generously filled and probably not commonly seen elsewhere were to die for. All items were made with a good amount of ingredients - no cheating. Staff were friendly. Arrived at around 13:30 on Saturday and didn't have to queue. £36 for 6 dim sum for 2 hungry people.

exquisite beautiful dim sum the crab dumpling in broth was so delicate and delicious lovely restaurant with old school chinese decorations which i love such a lovely vibe and great service
K. M.
Been going to Golden dragon for over ten years, we have tried other Chinese restaurants every now and again but we always ended up go back to Golden dragon as the food here is by far the most authentic. Dim sum and dinner are always tasty and the price is good. Great selection of food and also good for vegetarians.

The Chinese food here are standard but the way they presented the fruit bowl was quite dramatic and made it an exciting experience. Good for large groups of people with friends and family where you can order as much food as you want and spin it around to others to share. Yours truly @fooderarri

Long queue which is a good sign, but was seated quickly. Huge dishes and fast service. Tasty food from main menu and luchtime dim sum. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

We ended up here courtesy of one member of our reunion party. Not sure if it was a random choice but we were very happy with food and service.
The crispy chili beef was fried and not at all greasy. Had a lovely honey flavour. As was the squid which was cooked perfectly (not like rubber!) I would swear they were air fried not deep fried!
I had egg fried rice also which was cooked well and was tasty.
Definitely recommend the crispy chili beef.

A portion of the roast duck was tasty, but very hard to eat without a knife. Most of the staff weren’t particularly friendly, and rushed us out as soon as we’d finished eating.

Best dimsum I’ve had in London (and in the UK too!) and this is coming from a Cantonese person 😉 (we know what’s good). Service is nice, the food comes rather quickly. All in all a great experience, definitely give it a go if you want some authentic dimsum!

Lovely food and service to celebrate Chinese New Year dinner.

Bad bad service. No one to talk to and say you miss a dish or something.
On the good side, amazing food! Authentic, tasty and just right.
C.
It was just okay - The portion was large but the quality was just ok . The service was fast but not comforting. I would not come here for dates or family dinner.

Very much enjoy the dimsum I ordered, everything was perfect and authentic Cantonese dimsum . Will came back again next time in London! 5 stars from me.

We visited The Golden Dragon for a friend's birthday dinner party.
We have visited before so we knew what to expect.
As it was a Saturday early evening it was very busy however we soon were seated in the upstairs dinning room.
The Golden Dragon now offers outdoor seating too
The menu is well presented with accompanying pictures of several of the dishes.
Several of us ordered from the set menu(107) which contains about 5/6 courses which includes a soup dish, a vegetable dish, Shredded Beef Chilli, Egg fried rice and the main course is The Roasted Duck with pancakes.
The meal was delivered after some delay however it was both ample in portions and quite tasty.
I would certainly recommend the Roasted Duck.
The only negative was the long delay getting served however our waitress was both engaging and friendly something not always associated with Soho Chinese Restaurants.
A few more serving staff would be helpful.
The whole meal was priced very reasonably.
We shall no doubt visit again in the future.

Golden dragon, is so busy, and there is a reason why. It's tasty and the volume is very filling. Only knock is, service could be a bit quicker, maybe invest in more staff?

Good dim sum. Rather authentic Hong Kong style cuisines.

I have not eaten in every restaurant in London China town, but out of those I have eaten Golden Dragon wins hands down for taste and service. Some restaurants are only good for family’s and others are only good for groups of friends, this restaurant is suitable for both. Also I remember this restaurant from the mid 90’s, it is still open for business to this day so the restaurant is obviously doing something right. I have taken my three children there for Dinner and Dim sum lunch, they enjoyed both experience’s. The staff are polite and friendly. Highly recommend!

I knew we were onto a winner when we had to queue for lunch, surrounded by 2 dozen Chinese families. Went for the Dim Sum and wasn't disappointed. Particular stand outs were the BBQ pork puffs and the Scallop Sui Mai but it was all very delicious and fresh. Highly recommended.
A. T.
Have been going to Golden Dragon since being a kid.
It’s probably one of the better Chinese restaurants with a nice variety of dishes beyond standard takeaway dishes.
It has gotten more pricey over the years and flavours are on the saltier side now I find.
They do a good takeaway stand for roast duck and pork.
Stars knocked off are for service - i.e. average compared with other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.
There’s typically a queue on weekends for dim sum.
Food is served quick though.
You’ll get handed your bill pretty much as soon as you’re done.

Well worth a visit! Sweet & Sour Chicken was great, I know this is a staple dish amongst the British Chinese food lovers! Meal was reasonably priced too. Customer Service was not the greatest, although I will be back and would recommend!
M. D.
Although dim sum is not my favourite, there was clear quality in the food. The decorations around the room were excellent and the overall atmosphere was nice. The staff were very friendly although the food is reasonably expensive.
I. T.
Delicious authentic dim sum restaurant. Came here for lunch and it was packed. The dim sum is made to order so the food was fresh and hot. All of the dumplings tasted great, as good as dim sum in Hong Kong. Also tried the duck and it was great too.
Service was pretty good and attentive. Food was also served pretty quickly.
m. l.
Well worth queueing for! Visited on a Saturday night with three young kids, after a long walk round London - very good prices, and exceptionally tasty well sized dishes (with takeaway offered for any leftovers)
H. B.
Don't be fooled. Customer service was notably remarkable. Yet I seem to remember the duck being slightly on the oily side. Rather flavourless and undercooked in certain areas. Still on the bone (which was broken all over), and accompanied by a terrible sauce. I must say, I have been to much better Chinese restaurants than this! For shame!
H. R.
Excellent. Busy, faced paced, lovely food. Everything you want. A tiny bit more expensive than other smaller places around the corner which are just as good
T. G.
Great place to eat. We come here every year. Duck is a favourite.
B. R. W.
Ordered from Ubereats. The Roasted pork was really delicious. The crispy noodles also good but not what I expected. I was thinking it’s crispy noodle with gravy sauce but It was more like fried noodles.
S. Z.
This is our go to spot for dimsum, always reliable food. Service usually great, sometimes okay as with a lot of places in China town, but we don’t mind. They have a great selection of dimsum and everything is great. There’s sometimes a bit of a queue too on a Sunday but we think it’s worth the wait
N.
Delicious dim sum and very fast service despite how busy it was on a Sunday lunchtime. The food was very flavourful and fresh and the staff were friendly and efficient.
J. W.
Lovely dinner in the heart of China Town. Good service and nice restauraunt. Be aware of a 12.5% service charge. To be fair we would have probably tipped that any way.
C. H.
I was looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine and I wasn’t disappointed. The dim sums were really good, especially the ones with the rice and tapioca flour skin as hakao and the cheung fan. The service is a bit rough but it’s like most Asian authentic places, we are not here for the decor or the service, we don’t care we just want tasty food!
B.
We love it here. Quick service as always.
R. W.
Average food for a reasonable price!
Food: 3/5
- Beef Ho Fun, Ho fun was burnt so entire dish was ruined.
- Fujian Fried Rice, average taste.
I’ve had dim sum here before and that’s much better.
Cost: 3/5
-Fair price.
Service: 3/5
R. T.
Very delicious dim sum to dine in. The roasted duck is done nicely in traditional style.
C. M.
The atmosphere is nice and food is really good. We got seated immediately. Two of us ordered noodles with shredded chicken with sweet and sour pork with chicken and egg fried rice. There was so much left over. They let us pay part cash and part card. The small problem I had was maybe the lady that served us didn’t box our food she gave us the packing but happily boxed someone else’s.
J. M.
A very popular establishment in old Chinatown. Would I recommend the Golden Dragon to visitors? I'd say it is probably a safe place to eat with family, rather than with business clients. The gentleman in the picture, a physicist, may have imagined he was playing Chinese drums! 🤔
c. k.
Good dim sum. Rather authentic Hong Kong style cuisines.
A. B.
We had to wait a while to order but other than that service was great as food was delivered promptly and was delicious, the jasmine tea was amazing at the end of the meal.
J. J.
Very nice Dim Sum. Highly recommended.

I regularly go to the golden dragon when visiting Chinatown. The food has always been excellent quality and plenty of it, the service very good and never a problem getting in. Visited yesterday, lovely dishes of special rice, pork, chicken and a noodle mix. Very good indeed. But for the first time ever I needed to use the toilet facilities. OMG. Not good! You get to see the toilets and they are absolutely disgusting and then you realise the kitchen and store rooms are on the same level. And then your mind plays tricks and then you wish you weren't so full.... Look I love this place. Get your toilets cleaned up. Tidy up downstairs. I will be forwarding these photos onto the health inspectors as it needs doing for public safety. But I will be back as the place is worthy of 5 stars and I want to give it five stars. I had gave it 5 stars before I saw the toilets. ......
B. P.
The food is great! Prices are reasonable. It's quite clean. It was very crowded and loud. The tables are all close together which made me feel a bit claustrophobic. And the fire exit was blocked off by a table which isn't a great idea.
C. T.
My best mate, his brother and I went to the Golden Dragon for some Dim Sum. This was my first time eating dim sum, however not my first eating chinese. There was an initial 20 minute wait because of the high demand of people who wanted dim sum. This was a saturday and to be honest, the way that the host operates is very efficient using ear pieces to communicate with waitresses.
We sat down promptly around 20 minutes after the host initially stated. We were presented with the menu and we focused our appetites to the Dim Sum menu. Order as much as you like. Our waitress was extremely nice and also very talkative. My friends had lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years and they were talking about where each other lives/lived and it was a very nice conversation.
Drinks came swiftly which were, of course the lovely jasmine tea and also tap water we ordered. We started to order and we ordered probably 6/7 dishes in total and the final dish we were going to order the waitress said that the food we ordered would be enough. Not many places would say don't order something because you might not be able to finish it. Dumplings, crispy duck and lots of other small dishes i didn't know the name of were very tasty.
After all the food, which you can see in the pictures, between the 3 of us, (and some more food that was not pictured) eventually we were actually defeated by a huge noodle bowl which I managed to eat a quarter of but the rest we took in a takeaway box. Overall great tasty food which fills you up, that's the main thing!
We did not feel rushed and the food was good for its price and I would go back. I would recommend Golden Dragon.
Y. L.
The food is really great! I am Chinese, so I do know if the food tastes fresh or re-cooked or fried too much, I would write it here. But everything I ordered was 👍👍👍 I will come back!
P. K. L.
Excellent choices of Dim Sum, a whole booklet and also a season menu of dim sum. It was fresh and also very tasty.
Update 01/01/2020
Service is getting better. Highly impressed by the quick, patient and attentive service.
H. J.
Compared to its competitor next door... my experience here was FAR better!
As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were greeted and seated immediately, despite it being peak timing.
We were constantly being checked on to see if we were ready, but it was understandable seeing as they were so busy with people. The food came very quickly and all the staff were incredibly polite!
Food tasted incredible and overall I had a wonderful evening. Would definitely recommend this place for big crowds/families, as well a late commuters like myself.
C. D.
Lovely food, decent prices. Bit of confusion but presume it was a language barrier, which is fine quite frankly. Will come here again.
A. P.
This is the best DimSum in London! You end up full and satisfied and you pay so little, specially if you're in a group. The food is delicious and you can totally tell it's authentic when so many Hong Kong families (or descendants) are sitting around you. There's some wait on Sunday's, but it's totally worth it. Get there early. It's always super cheap (we tend to drink tea only) and the bigger the group, the cheaper the bill!
E. Y.
Been on a binge for Chinese food I’m Chinatown. Good food good service just a little expensive but otherwise positive!
J.
If you fancy yourself a traditional Chinese cuisine then this is the place.
(Note* its a little pricey)
The bad point about Chinese restaurants sometimes Is that you don’t always get great customer service. But with golden dragon it’s a different story.
We went in on a bank holiday Monday with my family of 6 and we had good meal.
We ordered a big bowl of rice to share! With char sui and duck along with a tofu dish with a veg dish along side a hot pot dish.
It’s such a nice environment and they made us feel welcome and they love kids and are interactive.
Would return.
L.
Went here before we went to the theatre, but the food we had wasn’t that good a bit bland and not very hot. Didn’t seem as if they could be bothered.
P. A.
Great food (all dim sums were fantastic) and speedy service! Not the friendliest staff but all very efficient!
A. L.
Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant is among the many great tasting genuine Chinese food here. Price is reasonable and service is great. Lots of tables and quick serving food.
A. M.
The food here is simply amazing. Loved every last dish I tried, and we had a lot off the dim sum menu. If you're in Chinatown, definitely head here.
Z. M.
Great food, efficient no nonsense service. Wouldn't go anywhere else for cheung fen in London China Town, it's (imo) as good as it gets!
Even when it gets super crowded the staff does its best to keep things rolling.
One star less because no accessible bathroom and no ramp!
S. R.
Great place for dim sun and a la carte dishes, definitely go for the crab with ginger and spring onion! Can be busy over the weekend so be careful.

Vegan review:
Came here for dim sum with the family! Tried to ring in advance but I’m not sure I was understood and they put the phone down so we just went first thing about 11.30 and 5 of us were seated with ease. By the time we left, people were queueing so I would recommend getting in early if you don’t book.
The 2 vegans ordered fried dough stick cheung fun, tofu ho fun (it wasn’t on the menu, we asked them to amend it, it was on the menu as beef ho fun), the vegetable hot pot and mixed vegetable fried rice.
The dough stick and ho fun was really tasty! The rice was bland and plain and the vegetable hot pot could’ve been a lot better.
The service was quick, the staff were pleasant apart from one who was rude after making a mistake - they brought 2 meat hot pots even though we ordered 2 vegetable ones.
The food was good and reasonably priced. I would say the vegan menu needs to expand though.
J. G.
I like this place. Tasty Dim sum, with no flourishes and decent value. If you don't know what you're getting staff are willing to help out and are fairly friendly about it. It's a huge restaurant and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table which is expected on a Sunday. A full lunch came to 17.50 each which I think is great value for lunch in central London.
J. H.
Varied menu with many traditional Cantonese dishes. The menu has clear English translations and photographs of the dishes you were concerned you won't know what to pick. Fairly priced and good value given the quality.
V.
Tasty food friendly staff even though they are eager for you to order once you get in. Good distance between table. Would recommend to anyone to go.
f.
Fantastic food service and atmosphere
L. L.
Good food. Quick service. Standard prices.
During Covid-19 only take away.
K. P.
The food nice and more importantly the staff were exceptional. They were polite, professional and swift in their service.
T. A.
The food was excellent, reasonably priced. The service was quick and very friendly. I would recommend the Golden Dragon
J. C.
Visited this restaurant on the weekend before Chinese New Year and it was obviously busy with dinners wanting to celebrate the festivities. We ordered my favourite starter which is half a crispy aromatic duck with pancakes. The duck looked small and the cucumber slices had seen better days. The service was also below par. Both issues could have been down to the fact it was the weekend before Chinese New Year, I'm hoping this was the case.
J. N.
Always very busy - and for good reason! Superb food, good atmosphere, reasonable prices, helpful staff.
B. G.
Right in the heart of Chinatown, London. I visited at 9.30 on a Tuesday evening. On that occasion the football World Cup 2018 was on T.V so that may have made it a bit quiet. By 10.15 (England's match finished) it was full,ma non potevamo mancare a questa occasione senza inviarti una carta with customers queuing for a table. Bright, fresh decor. Linen tablecloths and linen napkins. Wide menu and very modestly priced. The set menus (for 2, 3, 4 etc) both non vegetarian and vegetarian are excellent value for money. The menu has the usual range of Chinese dishes and you can swap dishes on the set menu if there is something you don't like. The spicy shredded beef was a bit lacking in chillies for my palate but everything was very good. The set menu my wife and I shared included soup, shredded duck pancakes, 2 main courses, steamed vegetables and egg fried rice....... A lot of food! But very tasty.
A.
Lunch time Dim Sum is very good. Dinner time dishes are not as good as what I expected. Service also needs improving.
J. O.
Theres always a massive queue. But the food is totally worth it. If you like dim sum and chinese. Come here. Although checkbacks are not very often so you have to often wave to get attention.
M. C.
Authentic food, good flavor. Services are better than my expectation. Will return.
J. L.
My go-to place in China Town for Dim Sum. Service is fast and the food quality is fantastic.
B. D.
This was good as far as the Chinatown restaurants go. Big dining room with atmosphere. Service fine. My husband loved the roast duck and the special fried rice was fab. My noodle dish could have been better but overall a good Chinatown experience.
A. F.
Food is very good and staff are very friendly thats why I return to this restaurant several times now. The lavatory can be better to be honest .
C. L.
Perhaps my favorite restaurant in Chinatown, despite an unpleasant encounter with an abominable waiter. Two spacious floors, vibrant atmosphere, and delicious/plentiful options make Golden Dragon a good spot for a family gathering or an introduction to traditional Chinese cuisine.
M. B.
Nice food
M.
Unfortunately, this time was just ok. Service was invisible and food wasn't that good like usually. We went for the set menu : the sour hot soup was excellent, the duck was too dry and pancakes were cold and heavy as a stone, crispy beef had 3 kg sugar at least on it and chicken was alright, the best from set menu were vegetables and rice. Hopefully next time will be better and service will be more attentive
S. H.
Thoroughly recommend. Best Chinese meal I've had ever. From a Yorkshire oiyk.
F. R.
Good choice of a dim sum and overall big menu to choose from. The pork ribs and pork in a honey sauce is sooo tasty. Great dim sums but fried noodles were a bit bland with not much authenticity going on. Overall good experience with friendly staff, quick service and reasonable prices.
C. C.
Dim Sum is one of my favorite eating experiences and each city I visit I make sure I can track down the favorite Dim Sum spot so after reading a bit about this location I ventured here.
Upon walking in I was immediately seated upstairs, and wow, what a cold welcoming, no hi no hello, just a quick "one person?" so right away I'm not impressed, isn't this the basics of any human, especially upon entering a restaurant.
I was seated in a corner tucked away at a small table and was disregarded for a few minutes until I waved someone down and we did have some lost in translation when I speaking English and with my hybrid American/Canadian accent, but successfully the order was placed by pointing to what I wanted on the menu.
The food was greatand I've been to some great Dim Sum places in Atlanta and NY and this did not fail in presentation and also in quality of food, I was very impressed, however the service was beyond marginal and again had to wave someone down to get the bill and then to pay and even then it was that cold interaction.
I always leave a tip at any restaurant, and I know the tipping is something different in Europe than the US, but in my travels I make it a rule to leave a 20% tip, but this restaurant I left 10% due to the interaction-or lack of.
Y. B.
Love their Dim Sum, it‘s my favorite Dim Sum restaurant in London. Staff is always super quick and friendly!
I.
Excellent restaurant. The staff makes sure your food is served as soon as possible, which is great when you’re in a hurry. The food is delicious and very authentic. There’s a lot if choice, and every dish is wonderful. The restaurant in itself is very nice, and because it is big, it is very convenient for social distancing.
J. K.
As an American, when my UK friend told me that their dim sum was better than those in the states I had to see for myself. Walking in, it reminded me of your standard Chinese restaurant- the staff was very welcoming and dim sum was available until 5pm and I got there at 4:30pm so I got some of the standard har gow, siu mai, and some extras to do a quick comparison. Long story, short the dishes were, to me, just as good as those in the states, haha. Portions were smaller per dollar, but still just as good. Would really recommend the shrimp dishes :)! I got the steamed tripe that weren't as tender as I'd have liked but just a flavorful.
R. H.
Good dim sum, quick service, perfect for a quick fix for Cantonese food
T. B.
Food was incredible!! Staff could have been more polite, but was a busy Sunday during Covid.
L. F.
Service is polite and Dimsum is good. Good place to have Dimsum & Chinese food.
I. B.
Lovely time here . Friendly staff, tasty food, good atmosphere 😊👏
D. M.
Delicious food. Shame about not having Dim Sun for Dinner and also the crispy belly pork was way too fat and not so crispy.
Y. P.
Amazing lobster.
Jackie is friendly and bubbly.
S.
Recommended to us by friends and served some nice food that was plentiful but not inspiring.
G. M.
A very good Chinese option. Good value for the price you pay. Reasonable comfortable and good a nice staff.
A. M.
We had a great experience at the Golden Dragon! The staff were excellent and attentive, despite it being very busy. They were really great with the COVID safety also which was reassuring considering how busy China Town can be on a Saturday evening. The food was very good, and it arrived promptly. The portions are super generous and we brought home what we couldn't finish. Finally, we sat outside under cover in the rain which was so cosy!
Would definitely recommend this place!
S. O.
Lovely food and big portions! The steamed custard buns were incredible! Really nice vibe indoors, perfect for a comfortable lunch and dinner. Prices are very reasonable!
T.
Dim sums were pretty good and fresh defo would come back again
В. Б.
The food is not bad, but service should be more polite. Toilet rooms are very tired and smelly.
K. R.
A locals favorite...the house white wine is horrid.. the squid fried is amazing. Very busy.
A. L.
I was unsure about the place and expectations were not high. However, food was excellent, service surprisingly very good and not very expensive. It was clean but old style gave somehow misleading feeling. I would recommend this place
S. G.
Popular restaurant featuring a large dining area and lots of lovely decorations.
Ideal for groups.
K. R.
Very friendly restaurant staff excellent food Great,👍
M. L.
Very busy, but we booked in advance, food is tasty
C. G.
The food was okay, but I didn't like the fact that I was forced to pay service charge.
I expected to be served at a restaurant.
I would rather to give a tip and not to be ordered:
"You have to pay service charge, all our customers pay service charge".
It made my bill a lot more expensive than
what I was prepared to pay. You are WARNED!!
K. H.
My favourite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. The foods is superb. Must try if you're in Chinatown. My favourite roast duck. So tasty and succulent.
P. H.
2nd visit. Outside dinning was nice. Food ok. Female waiting staff really moody. Don't expect a warm welcome!
J.
A nice restaurant with friendly staff but a dissapointing experience. The food was ok- the dim sum was delicious and would definitely order that again, but the chow mein was probably the worst I've ever had with absolutely no flavour and hardly any meat. The cutlery they brought us was dirty and service was pretty slow, I don't think I'll be back.
D. K.
Great food (you can tell by the queues outside) and service.
S. K.
Fabulous dim sum here and excellent, quick service despite being very busy.
M. K.
Amazing Chinese food with really fast service. Pekking duck is incredible.
T. N.
Good food and friendly staff! Just a short queue cos the restaurant is always busy!
E. P. M.
We had a really mice meal, dim sum was great!
B. P.
We went inside because there was a loooong line and tons of awards in the window... We understood why!
D. P.
I absolutely love this place for dim sum. The fried custard buns and Thai style chicken feet, amazing! I love the feel of the restaurant too. Will be here again for sure
B. K.
For dim sum Golden Dragon is great. However, I/ we were disappointed when we had dinner asking for Peking Duck. The duck skin was not crispy and had meat attached. It was just like having roast duck.Guess, still unable to find an authentic Peking duck being served in Soho, London. That's my second attempt of finding Peking duck in London😪
D. G.
Busy place. Very efficient service. Good food.
J. B.
Every dish was fresh and flavorful! Don't expect quick service, though, it's definitely worth the wait.
J. C.
Sometimes gets loud for no reason; loud workers (because of the plates), sometimes over waiting (like the picture of the scrambled eggs that I was waiting for a long time), different genders have different location for the bathroom (women have the same level at the toilet but men have the down stairs toilet); no desserts before lunch or after.
R. C.
The service was poor as the staff didn't welcome us at all. They stated that the charge was discretionary, but, when challenged, the manager decided to argue with us about whether it should be paid. Her answer was "You know what I mean", which made no sense.
The charge was removed, as the service was poor.
Food was banging though tbf 👌

The dumplings are just to die for. One of my favs in chinatown.
j. p.
Nice fresh food! Good attention! Bit rushed though...
R. D.
Really great dim sum served here. The staff are really direct/short but that's just their style. Would definitely come back.
C. G.
Quick Lunch! Food and Service were both great!
I. B.
Good food, but few vegan or vegetarian choices.
A. D. T.
Food is dame good. It's a busy place.
V. T.
Dim Sum is to die for. Super nice food, speedy and attentive service
Л. В.
The food is really good but my god the staff are extremely rude!
E. T.
Very nice restaurant. Fast service, no long queues, friendly service and delicious menu.
H.
Golden Dragon is my go-to dim sum restaurant because I know they deliver good standard of dim sum. They have the best xiao long baos (Shanghai dumplings) in China Town - thin skin with lots of pleats holding the succulent flavoursome soup inside.
The service was quick and the food was also delivered swiftly. A nice little gesture they had was that they provide envelopes for customers to place their face masks in. One thing that could be improved is the table waiting system as there was a long queue and no-one knew if the people ahead had been served/ greeted. This could be improved by having a host greet people at the end of the line or they provide a waiting line number.
C. R.
One of my favourite restaurants. Amazing crispy pork & crispy roast duck
K. I. (.
Dim sum was very good. And staff were all very friendly. The only negative thing I have to say is that it's quite expensive. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and the prices has risen dramatically over the past couple of years. Will have to look for somewhere cheaper if they put the price up again.
B. P.
Lovely meal and service definitely go again
E. H.
Very authentic. They're super busy though and you'll normally have to wait quite a bit for a table.
J. A.
Excellent Sunday dim sum lunch. Much joy !
K. L.
Delivious, had some of the half duck with pancakes.the skin was really crispy, meat was tender. Pancakes were dry on the edges and not a lot of spring onion and cucumbers with it. But still very delicious.
Didn't take a picture of the menu sorry.
But each spent £20 which I consider cheap to feed the five of us for a filling meal.
They also have us new face mask which was nice.
I recommend going, also because it has dragon in the shops name
M. G.
Always great food and fast service, soft shell crab is to die for
M. A.
Great food, friendly staff. Will definitely visit again.
1. S.
Everyone goes in needs to pay for £10
The food are nice and the price is reasonable
R.
Service can be a bit slow and you may need to wait for a table but the food on offer is excellent and there is a huge variety on the menu
S. Y. G.
Great service, wonderful food... missed good dim sum after so long after lockdown.. we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there... Amazing!
O. D.
A popular Chinese restaurant. Noisy and cold, and the food was just "ok". They where eager to get us to leave quickly, after we had eaten.
D. W.
Good food.great place but over priced .
r. p.
Bit of a hurry up on the service, normal enough for Chinatown. Food was pretty good
R. D.
Amazing dimsums 😋, service was fast and friendly. Overall a great restaurant! Will definitely go back. Highly recommend! 👍
t. j.
nothing wrong here with the food but would not recommend this place over Gerrards corner chinatown.
if you want really yummy dim sum go to Gerrards corner.
nice service here though
O. A.
It was okay. Good customer service from her waiter who made helpful recommendations on what to eat. I found certain meals slightly too oily but my friend was okay with it. Good seating available. Would be nice to update the linen.
D. P.
Excellent Peking duck, casseroled eel, fried rice and vegetables. Pleasant, helpful service. Fair prices.
M. I.
Came here with the work mates.
Without being rude, there are a handful of tacky Chinese restaurants in China town with not very pleasing service.
This place is not one of them :)
The restaurant is very well kept and decor is super plush with an oriental twist.
Staff are very welcoming, even if I came without my Chinese mate.
Food is very good and high standards. Lots of colours and flavours.
Drinks are also very good. Decent selection.
Pricing is also very good for the portions.
Great to come for any holiday events
D. M.
Personally, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! This place has one of the best quality catering services that I have experienced. Every time I come here, I'm always greeted, welcomed and seated exactly where I request. Not only do they listen and cater to your needs, they deliver outstanding, delicious and flavourful cuisine! It's a beautiful restaurant, modern, clean, with good taste and has a great atmosphere. The menu is fairly priced, in fact VERY well priced for Chinatown and Central London. Without fail, I always order the rice with honey roasted pork and the chicken and black bean sauce with chilli peppers, absolutely amazing! Not only are you getting your money's worth but your also getting great quality, tasty and generous portions.
If want to have a good night out, with outstanding food, perfect catering services and the perfect atmosphere then come to Golden Dragon in Chinatown!
m.
A very big restaurant, did not have to wait long for a table. Busy, noisy, served by several different waiters, rather impersonal. Descriptions of the meals on the menu did not always match what arrived on the plate. My dish was meant to be with black bean and chilli sauce but, although there were black beans and chillies scattered on the plate, there was no sauce as such. The meal itself was tasty enough, though, as far as I was concerned, but my family were not too impressed with theirs. The dumplings were burnt black at the bottom. The chillies were tasteless and not spicy at all.
J. M. P.
Much more expensive than others around, food is good
C. G.
Really delicious genuinely Chinese food, good-ish value.
N. L.
This is a great place. Had some lovely meals here. Old school and feels cosy.
D. C.
Restaurant is centrally located. Menu offers standard Chinese food choices, nothing out of the ordinary nor nothing special either. Food was good and as long as you requested them to be less greasy it would be fine. Ambience is great, restaurant is spacious so plenty of room for everyone. Most waiters and waitresses are fine but oh my days,.what happen to my server, she looks like she wants to kill someone from start to finish of our meal. Price was within reason.
M. M.
Place was okay. Food was quick and most of it was good. Lemon chicken was terrible. Our waitress was extremely rude. She then left and someone else served us our food. Plates were cleared away and waited for 20 mins afterwards to get the check. Furnishings definitely need an upgrade
Y. Z.
Excellent place to have authentic dim sum in downtown London. Will definitely come back.
L. L.
My partner and I had a great time eating lunch here. We had dim sum, including congee (4 stars), coriander dumplings (5 stars), shrimp dumplings (5 stars), glutinous sticky rice (5 stars), and shrimp cheng feng (rice noodles), which we would give a rating of 4 stars. However, we ultimately had a positive experience (5 stars!).
A. M.
Wow this place is busy! My first venture into the world of Dim Sum and I wasn't disappointed. The waiter helped me choose and the dishes were served within a matter of minutes. Staff were super busy and obviously under pressure but this shouldn't stop you from giving a smile and making you feel a little more welcome than I was made to feel. Get you in and get you out although I can't say that I was overly rushed or pushed to finish quickly; more of a feeling.
I thought it was all reasonably priced, especially for London and would have no problem returning.
P. P.
Wow, the waiters are unbelievably rude. It was comedic. We had a good laugh about how they blatantly did not bother hiding their disdain for customer service. Shockingly bad! The food on the other hand, was really delicious and well priced. Recommend if you don't particularly care for service/ambience.
A. N.
Busy during Chinese festivals so arrive early for lunch or try to book. Service is good and Dim Sum amazing. Had nine different dishes and each tasted fantastic. Can be very loud and if busy make sure you push to the front to inform the front desk you are waiting and be added to the list for tables. If you queue outside you will never get seated as other visitors and pushing in and getting added to the list ahead of you.
D. P. L.
This is one of the best chinese restaurant in London. As it gets very busy booking is a good idea if you do not want to wait a long time for a table to get free.
As it is gets very busy food always prepared fresh and you taste the freshness in every plate and bite. I would given it a 5 stars if the staff and management were a bit accommodating and polite. I been coming to this establishment for more than 10 years now and always enjoy the food and atmosphere.
E.
Great food, average service.
J. H.
I had lunch in here today at Golden Dragon in China Town
I had Dim Sum which was excellent and the staff were attentive and helpful
You could only sit outside at the moment but I am so glad Hospitality and Restaurants are reopening
I will be back soon
D. D.
Me and my partner visit this place each time we’re in China Town.
The food is great, we’re always seated quickly, the service can sometimes be a little fast and impersonal, but the wait time for food is always minimal.
They offer all the basic Chinese food you’d expect and more!
We both really enjoy the food and the service.
I saw a review about a table charge. There has never been such a thing on our bill.
A service charge is added to the bill. I believe it’s about 12.5%, which is average for London.
Food is really tasty, service is good, atmosphere is good, the interior design could be updated (but that’s a fairly harsh criticism), I enjoy each meal there.
S. R.
Amazing food, so reasonably priced
S. J.
Lovely dinner out with friends. Food was good and I especially liked the beef with cashew nuts. Good portion sizes too. Recommend as a venue to entertain guests. Has an authentic 'feel'. Just note that they will only seat you after everyone has arrived ( or the majority) even with a prebooked reservation. Busy restaurant.
S. N.
Great Chinese food. Had mainly dim sum which was excellent. Fried rice and main dish of monks veg was very good too. (The loos could have been tidier: the bins were overflowing with paper towels - it was a very busy Sunday! Apart from that it was an enjoyable afternoon in a busy, lively restaurant )
A. R.
Love to eat here. The food is good
J. C.
Very nice restaurant in Chinatown.
Have been here a few times now and always had good service and food. Waiters are willing to assist if you are unsure about any dishes.
Good value for money as portions are pretty generous.
Highly recommended.
L. W.
Food was great, authentic Chinese style. The service however was shocking, plates were dropped onto the table in an aggressive fashion while the chopsticks were basically thrown at you. If they polish up the service this would be a top joint.
V. M.
Been to this place 3/4 times now. Food is very tasty and portions are big for a reasonable price. Duck is amazing and salt and chilli squid was one of the best ones i’ve had. Staff is ok but you don’t get a friendly feeling from them. Once we ordered prawn sweet and sour but got chicken and a member of the staff was insisting we said chicken, which we didn’t appreciate. However the manager was quick in responding and trying to solve the matter. Good overall and I’d go again.
G. L.
Delicious authentic dim sum. Suitable for Jain and Buddhist vegetarian.
Sharp and quick service, the same as what you would expect in Hong Kong. It is very cheap due to the high table turnover. You should not expect any English style table service here. You pay for what you get. If you want the slow and attentive service, go to a westernised Asian restaurant instead and pay extra for that service.
For those who complain about the restaurant not being vegetarian, they are, but you have to make it clear to them before you order anything. I go to Golden Dragon with vegan friends a lot and the waiters have always been very helpful. Chef appreciate Buddhist and Jain veganism and made special dishes for us. Waiters are knowledgeable about veganism, asked if we eat spring onion and garlic.
T. N.
This was actually a very Peng place. Me and the while of my family were starving after we went to the national gallery. Lucky for us we came into China town. Here we looked every where for food we all will enjoy. We went to this restaurant because the menu standing outside said some of the orders. We went. We tried. We loved it. We went again.
The price for this restaurant is not at all expensive and is affordable. The food on the menu is absolutely Peng and all of which dishes you would never forget in you life because of the is awesome Chinese restaurant located in the middle of London. I am always looking forward to go to this place and I hope you do to...
K. F.
This is our go to place for dim sum. The food here is pretty good. The queue can be a little intimidating, especially on Sunday, but the wait is never too long. However, to get a seat, you'd have to talk to the host and put your name down, you can't just wait in line.
S. L.
Food was great but hostess was quite abrupt...
T.
Perhaps one of the better Chinese restaurants in the street. Taste is not authentic China but more Western tastes. Two storeys with a fast professional service. It's almost allwa6s crowded but quality is more or less consistent. Nothing fancy or very good but still decent. They include a so called 'discretionary service charge in your bill which I believe is a bit excessive so be warned.
F. M. R.
Delicious food, fast and friedly service (maybe even a bit too fast). The portions are very big! (Beware when ordering starters)
We took the shrimp szechuan and the pork honey BBQ, they were both very good. The only disappointing thing is the sweet and sour sauce - it tastes strange.
T. S.
Unfortunately won't be returning. Never got offered any prawn crackers, neither do they have any sweet chilli sauce to serve. Felt rushed, after being asked several times if ready to order. Especially after only sitting down for less than a minute. Waitress seemed rude and unpleasant. However food was ok from what we had, but I have had better.
R. K.
Tasty food, great value for money!
M. P.
Great lunch with friends. Happy Chinese New Year. Amazing food .
L. K.
Really nice food served in a well presented restaurant. We had the set menu and the dishes were served promptly one after each other which was good. What let the restaurant down was the service. All the servers seemed uninterested and really unhappy. When we were finished and the server took away the plates he just walked off and didn't ask if we wanted the bill or anything so we spent 15 minutes trying to get someones attention to ask for it. So very nice food but rubbish service.
I.
Probably the only restaurant in China Town gluten free friendly, I could had dim sum and they even tasted quite authentic, definitely going back. Definitely.
A. I.
Love this place. Can get busy during prime hours, but the queue is quick and worth the wait. Don't expect anything upscale in terms of wine list and service, but the quality of food is exceptional and the atmosphere is vibrant
S. D.
I visited here for Dim Sum and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my meal. I was initially a little dubious due to the dated interior and stain on my table cloth, but it was great value for money and I'd definitely visit again.
It was a Saturday lunchtime when we visited and quite busy, but we were sat very quickly by a staff member who was very efficient and polite, if a little abrupt. Having never eaten Dim Sum before (I know) I admittedly had very little idea of what to expect regarding portion sizes or price, but I left very full having only spent £13 on what I felt was really delicious food. Worth a visit if you're in China town.
P. C.
Nice atmosphere and decor inside. Food was good, prices par for the course.
O. H.
Food was actually very tasty, however order was wrong and drinks didn't arrive. They are very busy and language obviously plays a part, worth going but don't expect a unique customer experience. As I said, the food was actually pretty good
L. W.
Big Chinese restaurant so getting a table reasonably easy. Waiting staff didnt exactly overwhelm us with their warmth but service was prompt and efficient. Food avoided the trap of being overly greasy but I personally felt it was a little under seasoned. The sweet and sour sauce in particular being a little underpowered.
E. B.
Very good food in the Golden Dragon whilst away on business this week. Ordered 4x mains plus a rice and a noodle dish between 2 hungry guys - I'd say this was borderline too much as their portions are larger than average (that said, we did finish it all!)
All food was fresh tasting and not at all greasy as can sometimes be the case. Recommend the crispy shredded beef!
K. H.
It was okay. Rice was a little bit cold. Some of the dishes didn’t have much flavour however the ones that did were nice. Reasonable prices. Would suggest you try other places before here.
K. I.
All-around favourite place to have dim sum with a large group in Chinatown. Fresh, reliable dim sum that's consistently delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Not as fancy as some other places but the bill will reflect that so no complaints! Also, not as crazy of a wait to get a table. Even with a group of 10, I've never waited more than 20 mins and I've been about 40 times!
C. N.
I love this establishment, been coming for years but our last couple of visits have not been great, the staff are generally not friendly but you get that a lot with Chinese restaurants so I’m not upset by it. I took my Mum here for a nice relaxing dinner after a show, we were in no rush but we were asked every 1-2 minutes if we were finished (not exaggerating).
We were both still eating when they asked us once, we had wine left and they kept trying to snatch it away. Queues were building but I don’t think its unreasonable to expect a meal to last 2 hours when you’re spending over £100 and ordered a bottle of wine. We left unwanted and very rushed. We have been coming here for 5 years but will look for somewhere else in future. Which is a shame as the food is spectacular, the house wine is good and very reasonably priced for Central London.
K.
Really good Chinese restaurant - staff are attentive although the place is very big and busy. The food is very good - try the chilli crab! It is to die for. Also, the crispy duck is very nice. All mains we had were right on the money. If you're in the London West End, go to China Town and try this restaurant. Next time I'm there, I certainly will.
M. S.
We ordered quarter duck pancakes, won ton soup and fried pork dumplings, no drinks = £19.40 inc service charge so a bit steep. Was my first taste of won ton, found it pretty bland. Liked the roast duck in pancakes, pork dumplings nice but obviously can feel a bit greasy after you've had a few. Service was decent and speedy but we were hurried after finishing our meal to leave.
R. A.
Quality of ingredients is good here though slightly more expensive than others in the area.
M. D.
We have been coming here for 20 years, the Dim Sum is consistently excellent and at a very reasonable price. Now that the menu is fully illustrated it also makes it very straightforward to order. Give it a go, you will not be disappointed. Top tip - then head round to Maison Bertaux on Greek Street for their delicious cakes.
C. W.
Excellent and one of the best options for authentic and high quality dim sum normally served from 12pm-5pm. I've had dim sum all over the world and this is comparable to Hong Kong quality and flavors. Be weary that everything is made to order so expect longer wait times for fresh food. I've had dinner here also and equally as tasty. Highly recommended for true Chinatown experience.
K. B.
Nice spacious Chinese restaurant situated in China Town. The service was swift, food was great, courteous waiters, and a good ambience. We tried their Singapore Fried Vermicelli Noodles, the Malaysian Style Fried Noodles, Hot Kung Po Chicken, Deep Fried Squid with Salt Pepper and Garlic. A bit on the higher side of pricing but, good experience overall.
P. G.
Nice late night meal owner / manager was most pleasant and helpful.
l. e.
Lovely food and great staff
T. N.
Great place for Dim Sum. Always a queue for seats even though it's pretty massive inside. A testiment to the quality of food and quick service. We had a fairly short 15 min wait for our party of 7. Well organised.
C. D.
Food here is quite pricey for its quality. Ho fun was greasy and expensive and lacked flavour. However, dim sum was hot and tasted fresh but still not worth the price, especially as the portion sizes were tiny. The food was average and for the price, you could definetely go elsewhere for better food.
J.
I had a lot of good Chinese food in the past, and I have to say, I was really astonished by the quality of the food.
I was here with family and friends (we were a total of 6 people) on a Tuesday evening. We got one of those round tables where you would normally sit with 8 guests.
The food, as already mentioned, was absolutely perfect. We all had the Wonton-soup as our entry.
For the appetizer we had a mix of dishes but I really loved the crispy seeweed.
For the main course we also had a mix of delicious dishes. They were all very good.
The tea I had was also very good.
In the end I can only recommend this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food, i cannot say this enough, is really, really good.
I will defenetly come back, next time I will visit London!
J. W.
eat here on special occasions. really nice authentic food. only considered expensive if you're not willing to pay for good food.
G. A.
I've been here before and enjoyed the experience. It has more of a 'restaurant' feel than most of its competitors which are more akin to cafes with melamine tables. On entering, a man that I assume to be the owner/manager directed us in from the street with urgency, no smiles and very snappy. Almost as if he was ordering us to do something. I'd been here before so we went in. Other reviewers have said that the service was rude, I did not find this. The uniformed staff looked as if this was the last place they wanted to be. No smiles. The manager was snapping at them too, so this could explain why. We had a good selection of dim sum which was ok, but not outstanding. I may well visit again if I was in the area, but may also go for one of the cafe types with a higher council hygiene rating.
R. R.
Food was great, maybe a bit expensive
M. B.
Quite overpriced but you are paying for the location, food and service were ok
y. h.
Since my old favourite Dim Sum restaurant closed down this has become my regular go to. Not for the decor or atmosphere but for consistently good dim sum. It's noisy especially on a weekend but it's good value for good dim sum. Recommended.
A.
Nice chique restaurant. Very busy which is a good sign. On arrival we had to wait 15 minutes for a table which isn't that bad considering how busy the place was. The staff were friendly and greeted us kindly. The food came a very good time we didn't have to wait long and the food was very tasty and presented very professionally. Would definitely recommend for anyone in the Chinatown area looking for a very nice meal.
J. M. R.
Food was tasteless, special fried rice very oily, butter prawns so so, veg spring rolls nothing special. I had wonton soup, came late and did not have much taste. Service just ok.
C. L.
Average restaurant where it is hopelessly overcrowded. The quality of food is average and the time until you get servers and receive your food was below average. The reason we came here was the space they had available. They would not let you in until your party arrived completely, with babies and elderlies we had to wait in the reception area.
J. K.
I've always avoided this place because of the queues, I went here for dim sum lunch mid week where the queue is small and was really impressed. The dim sum is slightly more expensive than nearby places but the quality is very good! Servers were attentative and food came out quickly, I'll definitely come back again. For those worried about the queues there are 10 or so seats to wait in the restaurant so you're not left out in the cold.
Y. E.
I recommend the dim sum menu ! Very good, the soup as well but you can share it with one or even 3 other people ! I think they are quite cheap. Didn't like the stir fry noodle and for the service not too bad but they are not very polite.
M.
I was brought by a Chinese friend living in London. He said that the Dim Sum in Golden Chinatown was the best in London. We ordered a few Dim Sum. Indeed, being an avid eater, I agreed they were authentic! The lady waitress was also very friendly and spoke to us in Cantonese. Thumbs up!
Y. C.
As someone who is very familiar with the Chinese kitchen, this is an amazing restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. We were in London for two nights and ate all our meals (except breakfast) here. Delicious food and not very expensive.
E. S.
Food was good. Staff were efficient and quite friendly. We had ribs for starts which were excellent. And then black bean and rice which was also excellent. Cost was a little high add not helped by the "discretionary" 12.5% service charge. Just was good.
A. K.
Really a nice and big restaurant. The size of the dishes is appropriate. The crispy duck is indeed very crispy and tasty. The staff is very nice but keeps running around between the table. As a non-asian person among many asians you might feel a bit... judged. All in all a very nice place :)
M. D.
Top place for Dim Sum in Chinatown
2.
Small portions but tasty
T. A.
Not sure about the negative reviewers know what authentic Hong Kong food taste like but this is by far the BEST Hong Kong/Chinese restaurant in the UK! The dishes that I have tried are even better than the ones on Hong Kong, this is how good this restaurant is - if you are from Asia and are seeking authentic Hong Kong style food.
My favourite dishes are - Peking Duck, Sea spice aubergine, salty egg prawn!!!
N. N. O.
Superb atmosphere inside with a good menu. Food is very tasty and very reasonable in the price. Limited in the beer they sale but still worth a visit. I prefer here then crowded China Town anytime of the year. Recommend.
T. P.
Food has gone really down hill. Service still pretty surly. Menu has reduced massively. It's very populist dishes and English style cooking. Much better food in Wing Tai and Reindeer Cafe. I'm pretty sure this is only still going because of tourists. We didn't see many Chinese inside on this visit whereas previously it has been mainly Chinese customers. They also rudely assumed we'd want cutlery and told us obvious things about the food in a rude manner. Will try elsewhere from now on which is a shame as I've been coming to this place for 20 years at least.
R. W.
This is a nice Chinese restaurant and the food is nice too, however we had to wait a bit to order and the waitress didn't seem interested.
Food was fast and as I said nice, so I would still recommend this restaurant. However it's nice, nothing to write home about and that's why I gave it 3 stars.
D. T.
Ended up here today after being so rudely treated at the Golden Pagoda! So glad we chose this restaurant instead, the staff were great, the food was fantastic!! Lovely meal, Dim Sum was SO GOOD!! We will be returning to the Golden Dragon...well worth a visit.
A. M.
Good range of dim sum and reasonable prices (£25 for 2 people having 6 dishes and 2 soft drinks). Decor is average for china town. I wouldn't say the staff are friendly, but they're not rude.
J. B.
Large servings of good food. Atmosphere was good (whole restaurant was packed, even on a Monday night). Service was efficient, if not exactly friendly.
Nothing special - but standard, good Chinese food in China town.
B. R.
Busy place. Can have wait times 20 to 30min turnovers. book if you can. Beef tender food tasty. Food came to the table in an odd order. Other than that nice food
C. O.
It's an alright Chinese restaurant and food quality was OK.
If you want better quality then there are better Chinese restaurants (e.g. Royal China) but you will pay more.
It is probably one of the better Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and so try it and see if you like it.
It has another branch in Colindale if getting into Chinatown is a problem and you live closer to North London.
J.
Great food, well priced and the staff are very welcoming. We accidentally left a bag under the table, called in next day and the staff had kept it secure for us. Overall a good atmosphere we genuinely helpful staff and top tasting food!!
S. H.
Absolutely amazing food so tasty great service
Z. D.
Very fast service and delicious food.
O. O.
Freshly made delicious Chinese food.
p. h.
I went here for a bite before heading to a show and having never been to China town before I didn't really know where to go. We had to wait a long time to be seated because they didn't seat people in the order of arrival. The food was ok. Which I felt was a bit disappointing considering where we were. I've had better service and Chinese food.
C. P.
Love this place for proper Dim Sum in Chinatown
L. P.
Tasty and yummy. Very good prices. Compare to other places for dimsum. This one is so affordable. However, there's always queue waiting at least 20 minutes for the table, especially on Sunday.
A. S.
I didn't have a bad experience at Golden Dragon, but I'm not in a hurry to return. The food arrived fast and staff were pretty brisk - there's nothing about this place that encourages you to linger.
We ordered dim sum; although everything tasted fine, the portions seemed a bit mean given the price - the char siu buns had the tiniest slivers of pork inside, and the steamed dumplings seemed a bit on the small side. All in all, I'm sure you can get better value dim sum (and friendlier service) elsewhere in Chinatown.
S. K.
Been going here for years. Food is always amazing. Service used to be variable but has definitely improved recently
H. C.
Nice Cantonese cooking (Hong Kong & Malaysian style cooking). Not too expensive
V. M.
A bit pricey however the Dim sum was pretty good
T. K.
The biggest downside is the loud noise. Definitely can't have a relax evening. You are here for the food. Service fast. Food one of the best in China town.
Not recommended for duck or dim sum dishes.
S. C.
Really fresh and tasty food . Dim sum are home made and refined. Loved the three meats platter. Friendly staff and who speaks and understand english too, which is not the case everywhere in Chinatown.
E. a. E. E.
Our absolute favourite in London. We always come here for dim-sum, but we always come too late for their awesome spring-rolls! If you want those you need to show up earlier. There's almost always a bit of a wait for a table - just goes to show how busy this place is. If you are new to the city or just visiting and are unsure where to go - come here!

The dim sum was good. However, the waiters were so rush to us. We have to leave our table as soon as we finish our food and the bill already on table.

One of the best spots in Chinatown for Dim sums. Well priced and fast service. Never had a bad meal here although be warned of heavy queues, especially during weekends.

We spent al long time walking around Chinatown trying to find a place to eat, and I am glad we settled on this one. The Golden Dragon has some excellent food, with the Mongolian beef being the best dish we tried. I wish this place offered a takeaway service though, since the decor reminded me of the film Rush Hour, and looked about 50 years old. Also, the staff are not that great, not being very attentive and they are not willing to help when you ask them questions about the menu.

A great restaurant, quite for a Saturday because of the irrational fear that is gripping the world. Do come and try it before the UK government follows the stupid example of the continent and shuts down business and life in this country!

At 6pm on Friday our group was seated immediately and took our order for fried rice, gai lan, tofu, and a beef dish. The meal was great and quite affordable. I would recommend the place and will return again in future.

It's okay but when we told the waiter one of our dishes were cold inside, he just felt the plate and said its fine, we told him to take it away and make a fresh one but he took our old one and put it in the microwave, something you don't want to see in a restaurant

Very good dim sum, some dishes are great, some are just stock-standard western adapted Chinese food. Staff some very friendly, some less so. A bit over-priced but I'd still say the best Chinese in that neighbourhood.

It's one of the few places open at 11.30 am on Sundays, so we always end up there once a month for massive dim sum fests. The service staff usually look very put-upon when they see our group of 18 or so, but apart from that one time they got our order wrong then tried to blame us for it, we've got a working detente.
The quality of the food is consistent and somewhat higher than other places around Chinatown, which is another reason we keep going back. Must try items inclulde the crispy beancurd roll with prawn, the deep-fried dough fritter rice flour roll and the peppery mushroom and vegetable crystal dumpling.
The gaudy interior can be a little blinding on first encounter, but you'll get used to it after a while.

One of the best options in Chinatown. Dim Sum served until 5 but most of what's in the menu is awesome. Expect to pay around £20 p/p, sans wine, but with delicious green tea

For some authentic (and perhaps not so authentic) dim sum, Golden Dragon provides a good choice at a decent price. In addition to standard dim sum offerings, the xiao long bao were also noticeable as being well prepared to a point that tends to be hard to find. Their menu also includes a variety of more traditional Chinese offerings in comparison to westernized Chinese food. The service was tart but expedient, most likely due to how busy they were.

Easily my favourite dim sum restaurant in London and busy with good reason. Wait times can be off-putting for some but I am always willing to hold on for a table. Dim sum dishes are delightful and can highly recommend their char siu bao and fish cakes. The curried whelk is also an interesting one for people eager for a little extra spice and texture.

Great food and service during the meal.
A bit slow getting any form of bill and paying it.
Still surprised that the only beer on draft is Heineken not a Chinese beer.

Most accurate Chinese food I've ever had, some of the dim sum was better than the dim sum in Hong Kong. Its my favourite place to go in China Town and the service is as fast as possible.

Very nice food been loads of times

Great food, great atmosphere.

We love the Golden Dragon. Its well situated and offers a nice yet cliché setting of a restaurant. Top dish for me would be the Crab Yee Mein and Prawn Toasts. In fact, I don't think I've eaten anything there that I have not liked.

My other half and I are regulars here each month. Have tried other places in Chinatown but nowhere compares to the authentic dim sum experience at Golden Dragon. My personal favourites are the siu long bao, char siu cheung fan, lo bak go and ho fun. Waiting times are normally around 15-20 mins at peak lunch hours. They are even longer around Chinese New Year so I would avoid the restaurant at this time of year (and Chinatown in general)

I have been here many a time, most recently tonight, but also for my graduation lunch and other random visits with friends and family. It has good Chinese food, prices aren't cheap but not particularly pricey. I'd probably say mid range for China town! Wouldn't say this is a favourite restaurant, just a typical good tasting chinese restaurant!

All In all a nice restaurant. It's a little pricy for what you get but that's London prices for you.The Service was ok and the food was good, but our dishes came out at different times. I had eaten most of my main by the time the rice came out. It was alright for a one off, not to sure if I'd eat there again though.

Good food but terrible tea pot. Got a burn because of it. Should replace it with more traditional one.

One of the best (if not the best) Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. The dim sum is excellent, the noodles are amazing, the spring rolls are beautiful and what's more important is the fact that the atmosphere is always buzzing.

Amazing Dim Sum, lots of space, fast service

The food was good, however we received two portions of special fried rice and were charged. This was in spite of requesting just one as we had noodles as well.

Very nice food as always! Dim sum are delicious and the honey BBQ pork is just amazing. Always very busy but the service is fast.

It's well located, not fancy decor. But consistent over the years it has been for me. A good dinner for 2 for £70-80.

Very nice spacious restaurant with amazing workers. Service was relatively fast with lots of covid preventing measures
