Reviews of Jim's Cafe
V. N.
We went there to have brunch. I chose the Salt Beef Hash, delicious food, huge portion.
Reasonable prices, cool interior design and friendly service. Highly recommended.
D. N.
The perfect cafe if you want much better than your basic greasy spoon but not an overpriced trendy gastro-cafe.
The full English is only a about £2 more than you'd pay at a more basic cafe but here includes a proper grilled sausage, nice streaky bacon, big mushrooms and sourdough bread plus a real coffee.
The place is lovely and clean with a cool diner feel and really friendly staff.
Will definitely be going back.
I.
Super friendly and professional staff and excellent hearty food. We love this place. So glad they've kept it retro and alternative. It's such a reminder of childhood cafés.
M. O.
Loved the Sunday afternoon at Jim’s with the kids. Burger was off the scale and the fries were addictive! Reasonable prices, great service, you can see why it’s so busy!
D. W.
Great authentic cafe/diner spot. Burgers are amazing and the fries are one of the best in London. Good range of drinks and cocktails too. Dogs are very much welcomed!

Great cafe to hang out for brunch.
I love their iced teas and this place is pet friendly.
P. L.
Have been past here so many times, but today thought we would go in and get a breakfast. And we were very pleased we did. The cafe itself is great inside with old style booths in the front and tables with a TV in the back. The food was very nice indeed and we also tried a couple of house cocktails, well why not? They had the world cup on in the back, so we carried on our day with a few pints watching the footie. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Will now be a place we come more often for sure.
D. R.
Had a great quality double cheeseburger with chips (extra) and a pint of larger on draft. Just over £20 including service. I thought the vibes were great (talking heads playing in the background) and staff were efficient and accommodating. I’d go back but maybe only with friends, might be a tad over-priced for a solo trip, despite the high quality.

This place is a neighbourhood staple
Great vibes, great cocktails, and a personal favourite burger
Great Bloody Mary as well!
p. e.
Food good but felt uncomfortable eating my breakfast in front of a starring dog its a cafe for gods sake why you having dogs on a food premises staff helpful
M. S.
Simple but delicious food, great drinks options, and all in a cool/quirky ex-greasy spoon setting.
Z. Z. K.
I love it at Jim's Cafe!! The food is delicious, the cocktails are Fabulas, the atmosphere & decor is spot on & the staff (especially Mimi) are so friendly!! Looking forward to going again soon. 🤘❤👏😉
R. C.
A great place for breakfast or lunch. Salt beef hash delicious and good portion.
S. M.
We went there finally on our last night in Hackney prior to moving...we only lived 300 yards away and it was probably my favourite Vegan Burger I've ever eaten! It's currently the only thing I'm missing from Hackney.
When we pop back to London I'll make a detour to visit for another.
S. G.
Looks great and the food is decent but it's a bit overpriced and staff don't all make an effort...
Hopefully service will be improved and become a top rated caff.
H. W.
A great little diner in the heart of Clapton. We would highly recommend. All of the brunch menu looked delicious but we went for their staple burgers! Cooked to perfection and washed down with some great beer on tap. The service was friendly and it had a nice relaxed vibe. We will definitely be going back soon! Thank you Jims Cafe!
J. B.
Fantastic cafe. Always great booze, food is top notch too. Always a welcoming atmosphere. 10/10

Wow - what a great find. The food was incredible - I had the Dirty Vegan Burger (despite not being a big fan of mushrooms it just depends how they are cooked) - but it was delicious. In fact I'd like 2 next time please. My husband had buffalo wings and was not disappointed. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly - we will definitely be back with the rest of the family.
R. W. J.
Fantastic food, brilliant service and amazing cocktails. Really cool neighbourhood spot with the best burger I’ve had in a long time. Looking forward to coming back ASAP.
G. P.
Jim's is bloody brilliant. This is the spot to be in Clapton for a casual beer and some fried chicken, or a vegan dish or two!
S. M.
Me and my two friends had a fantastic time at Jim's Cafe. We were served by this wonderful man from the states and another a lady from Australia. They were both extremely accommodating. We ordered the cripsy pork belly (DELICIOUS and crispy), cheese burger (authentic and well prepared) and a dirty vegan burger. We also ordered a few cocktails which was very nice, wine & beer. I would definitely go back! Located in a lovely area too.
p. g.
Great friendly service, lovely food nice atmosphere
D. V.
The home made burger here, for a 6 foot 4 tall guy with a huge appetite was filling tasty and we'll presented. Great friendly service and a lovely refreshing pint made the visit well with it. Also great vibe going on. Lived it.
E. H.
I really liked my experience here! The sweet potato hash was absolutely gorgeous. The service was really good and it’s a really nice space inside. Good food selection, came quickly. Really happy customer.
Y. S.
Had a fantastic dinner with friends on a Monday night! Although wasn't sure if they serve dinner (due to the name) but now I definitely got another favourite on Chatsworth road! :) Atmosphere was great and welcoming. Staff is friendly and kind, definitely know how to make delicious cocktails & meals. Food was delicious, brave and full off flavour! Thanks so much guys and see you soon again!
P. M.
Amazing coffee, good food but small portions..
A. Z. P.
Jim's is a great little diner. It is as I'd expect such a place to be hitting all the right clichés perfectly which I love (and biased too). From the motorcycle decor, American diner layout and simple but great wholesome food to boot.
Highly worth a visit and definitely going to keep coming back.
A. F.
Really great cafe in general. The vibe and decor is really cool and the staff are super friendly and passionate. The most important things, the food is top quality. We went for lunch and had a mixture of brunch and lunch dishes which were all excellent and cooked with largely locally sourced ingredients. The prices are what you would expect for the good quality ingredients and not ce restaurant. Highly recommended!
L. M.
Great spot for breakfast or lunch! Jim’s cafe has a good range of options without being overwhelming and includes veggie and vegan options.
I love the sweet potato hash and the cheese toastie. The interior is cool and a bit kitsch plus there is a larger dining area out the back.
H. R.
Not a fan of American stuff in general but was nice to find something different in the neighborhood - the back room is quite cosy with a bike rider vibe. Staff is easy going and friendly. Tried the mac and cheese which was really yummy, just a shame that a 33cl Brooklyn lager costs £5.50 🤔😲
P. B.
People say nothing is perfect but I have found something that is.
A. C.
I mistakenly walked in at lunch time a couple weeks ago thinking that it would be a basic greasy spoon. How mistaken I was. This was probably by worst experience of hipsterism. The food was pretty decent - nice burgers and chips, the service was fine. The food was just over priced for what it was (£16), and it wasn't what i was looking for. Just beware if you think you going to get a cheap fry-up here.
C. R.
Had such high expectations of this place! Came here for Sunday brunch and ordered two lattes that were lukewarm. Our food took forever to come out, and when asking the waitress how much longer she barely even gave us a response. The food was okay, but for the price, the portions are quite small. This place has great potential, as the interior is so nice
L. V.
I feel that they nailed pretty well an American-esque ambiance. It felt just like some 'previously rough' cafes my friends and I used to go to in New York.
In that vein, however, I would like to see more American food options, I.e., big old full plates. And more veggie options. Basically, I think the menu could be spiced up a bit.
The Full English was good value, though nothing on the plate particularly stood out as being great. £9.50 for avocado on toast is a bit crazy in my opinion.
D. R.
Great burgers, good 80's music and doid beer..just lovely
M. T.
There is something homely, edgy, cool and nu-retro about this place in all the right manner.
Okay it is in deep Hackney but this special cafe is no hipster heaven more a proto biker haven with great fare AND a booze licence allowing it to be part pub, part 60s joint, part after-school kids trough, part business meet-up until 10.30pm on a school night. Staff are great and the music is refined to a leftfield slant. Bring your tattoo and laptop
J. A.
Absolutely brilliant. I eat here a lot. The quality of the food is exceptional and I'm not afraid to try anything on the menu as it's clearly been made by someone who knows their food. Coffee is delicious, staff are lovely. A real treat.
B. C.
£50 for breakfast .... we did have bloody Mary’s (which were good) but it’s a lot of money for the low quality of food. Really rubbish eggs, terrible toast, just not great food at all. Juices were good though but I wouldn’t eat breakfast here again. Staff were nice
G. L.
Great cocktails, great atmosphere for an after-work drink or food and very dog friendly!
F. S.
Love it here at Jim's. I've yet to order everything on the menu as I have some favourites I keep reordering. Super friendly and attentive staff, good coffee, IPA on tap and suitable for all courses of the day
u.
Great cafe. Large breakfasts, soft and alcohol drinks and very friendly staff.
Perfect place to rest and fill up on food.
Popped in after a trip to the hospital and this was exactly what I needed.
Deffinately coming back if I'm in the area.
b. d. m.
This place is a bit of an icon around the area. The food was really good and so was the coffee and the service. Could serve a slightly bigger quantity on the plate for the price you’re paying and the staff could’ve told me of the service charge at the beginning, tho.
R. D.
Hadn't ever heard of Jims cafe before stumbling on it, so was pleasantly surprised. With an old diner vibe at the front, with sunday afternoon DJ included and a biker cafe at the back. We only had cocktails but they were spot on, food looked good - will return.
D. H.
Favourite food in London right now. Shame it is miles from my house. Friday took a slight detour in pouring rain on my bike to get there. Stuck in Traffic an hour there, and an hour home. Rare Hanger Steak, two eggs, mash, and a banana milkshake. Delicious. Worth every wet sodden minute.
B. O.
Working in the Chatsworth Rd area, it's become my favourite watering hole. Delicious coffee, lovely people, plenty of seating (it's like a TARDIS running a long way to the back). The area is served by the 308 bus route.
a. m.
Coffee is great so that's usually enough for 5 stars, only let down is the price of food and small selection on the menu. Luckily the staff were kind enough to make us something from the breakfast menu despite it being past 12. Ambience and friendly service makes up for a lot
P. Y.
I really love this place. Reminds me of the Toronto greasy spoons I grew up eating. Serious North American nostalgia food. Burgers are good, fries are good, even the mac and cheese is on point. 👍🏻
I. T.
Lovely attentive staff, smooth and silky coffee, tasty food and nostalgic decor.
Only thing i would say is missing is cooked food for people with a sweet tooth! But that's just my personal preference.
Will definitely be visiting again :)
S. S.
Great easy going atmosphere. Fabulous staff. Vegan friendly. Absolutely delicious vegan burger! Yum! A fine establishment all round. Unhesitatingly recommended!
T. G.
Great space and superb food.
On one visit to this usually excellent cafe we received service that wasn't up to their usual high standards. We were really impressed that management listened and were keen to improve things.
N. P.
Had dinner here yesterday evening. Food was top notch - some of the best I've had in the area, service was ace and interior decor was very cool. Friday evening was a nice time to go as it wasn't too busy. Really really recommend this place.. ps: the dexter steak was SUPER !
d. s.
Great place to have a cozy well prepared dinner. It can be a bit too expensive to go there as often as you want to go. They have a chicken with polenta that is just great. Thanks to all the guys working there, they created such a nice place.
m. L.
Really good food. Relatively okay prices for the area. Service is really welcoming and cheerful! Love love love it! 😊
L. M.
Super sweet place ! Love the food and service, artwork is well cool too for a brunch... Must go, will be back for the film's nights too they sound brill! Thankyou
S. I.
Solid hipster breakfast sold here, and very nice it is too. Great coffee and interesting brunch menu. Service can be on the slow side but who is rushing on a sunday
H. S.
Recently hired part of Jim´s for a party. Was brilliant, good value in terms of feeding everyone and Mimi and Steve took great care of us. Recommend it to anyone thinking about having a birthday or small gathering who doesn`t want to spend tons but still do something different
S. V. N.
An ABSOLUTE favourite Place!!!!
Had the daily special duck confit with dirty rice and pickled cucumber salad and I fell in LOOOVEEEE ❤️
Best place to come to for brunch with hungry New Yorkers as well!!!
So glad we live super close by 🙋🏽
E. W.
Great food, great cocktails, lovely service (lovely Irish lady whose name we didn't catch). Very lucky to have this place so close to home. Thank you!
J. U.
I had a beautiful dinner at Jims Cafe, an enchanting evening with some of the most expertly mixed cocktails to start our evening courtesy of Alex at the bar - and an elegant line up of dishes - each complimenting the next. Fast service with sensitivity to the pace of an evening ( i.e.. sometimes you want to nurse your delicious cocktails for a good time ... enough to take in the cleverly designed interior - ) and do try the sirloin steak with orange wine. Oh man I'm going back for breakfast
T. B.
This place has everything and coffee. We had steak and burgers and they were decent. Loved the staff. We had a good time and good food.
B. H.
Good food
Good music
Great staff
Love the vibe
All in, these factors make it always a positive experience to eat, drink or hang here.
Great to have another restaurant with a bar (or is it a bar that does food?) on Chats Road.
C. H.
Lovely food and excellent service. Will visit again!
B. L.
What can i say! Best burger in town..
The atmosphere, service and cocktail are on point.
Will be returning!!
J. S.
A brunch place made to look a bit like a workmen's cafe, which probably sums Chatsworth Road up these days. Enjoyed my food (the Benedict with their homemade sausage) mind even if the service was a bit haphazard. Most of the menu is English muffins filled with breakfast staples with a twist (ie. Egg and bacon but the bacon is maple cured)
A. B.
Most amazing staff I’ve seen in London, dog friendly, good coffee and nice food. Vegan options are not amazing yet but I trust that will change soon.
A. W.
Possibly the best steak and eggs I've ever had. Great service too in the proper Cockney ends
O. O.
Tasty food, I tried sweet potato mash and miso-glazed aubergines, both were so delicious. Also superb retro atmosphere, decor and psych music, fully recommended!
J. W.
Had some drinks here, really good vibe. Looking forward to coming back and eating.
UPDATE: Did come back here for brunch and it was great. Bumped from 4 -> 5 stars
T. P.
A little gem in the neighborhood. Fantastic decor, great food, professional friendly service. A really nice place I can't wait to visit again.
S. S.
The ambience and food is good there and I would recommend a drink there. However, I would recommend getting food there compared to other places on the street it was too expensive and the service was poor; made worse by a 12.5% tip that is added to the bill with out your consent...
D.
Absolutely love it in here. Great food. Great staff. My favourite place in the area to eat and relax in a nice environment
S. S.
Loving the new management here. It's more lively and relaxed. Attracts a cool, unpretentious crowd. Great fresh baked mini pizzas.
t. s.

M. G.
Saving lockdown date night with their 10oz flat iron steak dinners!!! Can’t wait until we’re allowed in again.
R. V.

J. B.
Amazing food. Had the best breakfast I've ever had here. Staff were awesome too.
N. P.
Possibly the best burger in London. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good playlist. Highly recommended!
A. T.
Possibly a 4.5 star but looking to counter the idiots giving one star because they are turning up to a place without knowing what it is or what it stands for.
Awesome. Classic. More London than all most anything left in Hackney #proud
M. C.
Quality moreish food, varied menu, great staff. Interesting decor, great ambience. Good value
R. B.
