Reviews of Jinli 锦里
m.
Ordered a grilled fish in chili oil and the dry hotpot for 7 people on a Friday night. The restaurant was almost full but thankfully we got a table. The food was nice! The grilled fish is crispy and more like fried than grilled but it tasted good. We ordered beef, dried tofu skin, mushroom & veggies for the dried hotpot and it was tasty too! Loved it.

The staff were so very accomodating with my group of girls with suitcases and helped us find a place to store it.
The guy who served us was amazing, very patient despite this being his 2nd or 3rd day. The food was phenomenol as always with Jinli and I am very happy to have chosen this specific location to have our dinner. We will definitely be going back.
It is rare to find good customer service but the staff here have been exceptional , smiling and patient and I would like to thank them for the wondeful service they provided
F. W.
i love it here it’s so peaceful with the high swooping ceilings, and the lovely soup we tried was so full of nutrients chinese medicinal ingredients I am familiar with from my mothers ‘tongs’—and chicken and tripe together form a lovely velvety silky bone broth. We had it with some fragrant from spring onion, fried rice all in all ~made for a gorgeous dinner. the staff here are ultra friendly and sweet and polite it’s a wonderful experience coming here

Great food! Great service! Sichaunese restaurant(bear in mind can be spicy).
Two floors restaurant with proper chinese food, not made for tourists.
L. C.
Lovely food and nice staff. Decor could do with an update but who really cares if the food is great?
M. K.
Very nice food and traditional taste! There are a lot of options for ingredients in 乾鍋 which is amazing.
M. H.
Insanely delicious hotpot, we had a combo of spicy and traditional broths. One star down for the environment (quite noisy), and service (we ordered spinach twice but it never arrived, overall it took a while before we could order or to even get drinks), our gas thingy started to act up (dangerous in such a small space).
But the food overall was so delicious that I still consider it as a positive experience.
M. H.
If you want proper Szechuan cuisine this is the place. They've got everything, from classic westernised dishes through to frog legs and black fungi and so much more. Service is fast and efficient.
J. F.
I loved their main larger restaurant just around the corner next to the Q Car Park and thought I'd booked a table there only to turn up and find out I had booked at their original location a few minutes walk away. My fault entirely I just didn't realise they had two locations so close to each other and previously had my stepson book as we knew one of the chefs.
Anyway the staff friendly, we ended up on the second floor so a few flights up and down as I'm a smoker but no big issue and to be honest the exercise good for me and stopped me smoking so much lol
Went for my classics, Gung bao chicken, boiled white fish in chilies, fried green beans and decided to try cumin lamb. Fish was lovely, plenty of Szechuan Peppercorns which is what you want and don't be put off by all the dried chillies as it's not a very spicy dish, purely flavour. The Gung Pao chicken reasonable, could have used a little more heat but fresh and can't complain. The green beans obviously blanched earlier and then fried and lacked a little and the lamb not impressed with, crispy but very little cumin and was expecting to have peppered with seeds but think they'd just used a powder. Tasted okay but nothing special.
Was very cold and we had to ask them to turn off one of the air conditioning units as such a draft and that's after we'd moved from a window table as the window badly sealed and very drafty.
Only two red wines available, I'm sure there was a house version although the waitress tried telling me the three house wines were white even though one specified a red grape and I'm sure was a red. The cheaper red one at £38 and the other a Chateauneuf de Pape at £48 which we went for and was pretty decent. Overall reasonably happy but not as good as I have experienced at the larger restaurant.
S. M.
Food was very nice fresh but very very oily. Service was very disappointing. I asked to split the bill into 4 as my friends and I wanted to share the bill between us. I was told no no one card payment only can’t not do more the one card payment. 🤷🏻♂️🤣🤣
h. s.
Lovely restaurant, always go for their Sichuan dry pot dishes. Wish they will make it more seasoned or spicy like before. Friendly staff too!
R. K.
Excelent dishes! Good prices foor food, but drinks a litlle bit expensive. Worth it to try!
L. U.
Delicious!!! We had the “dry plate” which is basically a make your own and it was delicious!!!! We chose pork belly, lamb, spinach and bamboo shoots. It was soooo good as the sauce they use to bring it all together is delicious! Also had a special fried rice which was the tastiest ever!!! Well worth a visit and not like some of the “commercial” places you get round there.

Highly recommended for “Marashangguo”
One of the best Chinese hot pot restaurant in london indeed. And must be one of the favourited restaurant for chinese for sure.
Every time i go there there are long queue of chinese.
I tired a dry hot pot. Three options as less spicy, medium and spicy.
Medium seemed nice but Beware It is very spicy. I really enjoyed though.
I would like to give full star for the food but
Not that clean restaurant here. Got something on the dish and cup.
Friendly staff changed them for me with big smile. Lol.
F. C.
Surprisingly good food mixed together with hot and peppery flavours on a hotplate. This is a typical serving popular in China. This type of Chinese Sichuan cooking has some how found its way to London, Chinatown. It can be really spicy. Please seek less spicy serving by talking to the waitress. Ingredients are fresh. You get pork, beef, chicken, and their internal parts too.
S. C.
Authentic sichuan cuisine. There's usually a queue outside here, but when we visited with two we got a table straight away. The service is actually better than usual for an authentic Chinese. We tried a traditional Sichuan chilli fish pot and chicken dish which were pretty good, especially the fish.
Prices are relatively reasonable. We'd definitely come again to try some other dishes.
I. S. (.
-This restaurant has 3 floors, which is not comfortable when you are going to eat with large group. Part of food didn't contain any salt.
They also have not really clean glasses and thin. My friend asked for really spicy food...
And his food was absolutely usual.
+Food been prepared really fast
The menu have numbers and waiter remembered which food is whose, as for me it was comfortable.
K. Y.
Great place to have Maocai (冒菜) and all other authentic Sichuan dishes with good service
C. M.
Lovely food, I would especially recommend the black bean beef. The prices are a little high but otherwise great experience.
J. D.
The best Chinese cuisine I had in the city. The food tantalized my taste buds. Absolutely in love with it. It's a pity I was traveling alone so couldn't have more than one dish. P.S. the service felt a bit rude
J. J.
Five stars for the food. It’s where you can get authentic Sichuan flavours. The service is okay but still need improvement for some waiters.
J. Y.
came here for all you can eat hotpot it was very good value. The portion is generous, and they offer seafood (crabs prawns, squid and mussels) which most restaurants of this sort wouldn't, because of the costs.
I will return and try other dishes.
Z. Y. P. P.
I can't say much about its authenticity as a Sichuan restuarant but as a dinner, was great. recommend you to call and book beforehand though.
K. Y.
Absolutely love this place! Big “dry hot pot” with much froufrou for sure - look at that gigantic pot below. Basically you order a bunch of different ingredients for them to toss into this huge pot - most are 5-7£ and portions are definitely hefty so go with at least 4 people. You can choose if you’d like it to be spicy or not, and the spice level too. Warning though: extremely oily and addictive. Apparently there’s karaoke here too.
J. L.
Top 1 on my list for Chinese food in China town! Can't count how many times I've be there now. A great Sichuan Restaurant for either hot pot or wok or others dishes. Loved it and will continue regularly visiting it :)
L. L.
Overall food was good though a bit pricy if we didn't have the discount for the spicy fish dish (we were asked to share the restaurant's post on wechat in order to get the discount). A few of our friends could not take the heat so we only went for a medium spicy level, which I think lessened the flavour. However, if you're a spicy food lover like me, make sure to go for the super spicy level!
희.
The service was great, but the food was too salty. But it was delicious so we kept eating.
I asked a staff about the amount of food we ordered, and he was right. So thanked him.
R. S.
Always come to eat their food.
So good to invite my friends gather together.
But the service some of waiters are quite annoying.
A. E.
Very busy restaurant, tried the dried hot pot which was very tasty. Service was good and fast. Abit on the pricey side.
H. S.
My favourite place - amazing food! Great service!
A. P.
Mixed meat and vegetables in sichuan spicy sauce is unbelievably superb! Served in a massive pan!
I’m stuffed and happy!
V.
Dishes look very nice, but the taste was a let down. Not spicy, not mouth numbing, not authentic Sichuan cuisine.
簡.
This is my first to tried roast fish, authentic and nice quality, will come again definitely.
口味道地,下飯好吃。
S. C.
Favorite spot in london for some authentic szechuan food.
I. C.
Best service in Chinatown by far! Staff very attentive and nice! And I swear this was the best chinese food I have ever tried! HIGHLY RECOOMEND!
N. G.
Excellent, kind and very professional staff. Very good service!
M. S. L.
Amazing! Will never disappoint you. Highly recommended!
Y. L.
Brilliant food! My favourite Sichuan Restaurant
Y. K.
Been craving these as they are so good!! :))
D. S.
A nice restaurant with good Sichuan dishes but not quite exact to China. Their food lacks a little bit of spice and the ma la that is a heavy flavour influence in places such as Chongqing.
The food was nice and well-made with decent service. Far superior to that of the majority of places on Gerard Street.
In my opinion it is too expensive for the location and the food could be better for the price.
I have not tried the hotpot there but I will in the future.
F. W.
Good place for hot pot, but the limited dining time always puts me off. Food are fresh though.
B. A.
I love this restaurant. Would definitely go again
A. L.
It's a bit expensive but if you compare quality price is alright..Around 30£ person
i. l.
great food ,big portions. The restaurant was very nice.
H. D.
Great food (spicy unsure if they have non spice) rl at a good priced. We ordered dry hotpot which you choose the ingredients to go in. Let them know your spice level and voila dig in! Its a pretty big portion. We had no idea so between four of us... there was definitely left overs. A price estimate for those interested, we ordered all 9 ingredients including 3 types of meat plus rice. A drink each was around £20 per person including service charge. The dish we choose are for sharing just incase people don't realise and individually order on behalf of themselves.
I. B.
Jinli Restaurant in China Town is one of the best contemporary Chinese Restaurant in London .
The food is tailored to all European healthy standards but has kept the traditional taste Chinese cuisine. One of the best service in China Town London , good English speaking professional waitrons, everything is up to good standards, spacious and comfortable table settings . good portions and well prised £- ££
Good variation of vegetarian and vegan selection together with the classic chicken , fish, meat dishes .
We enjoy it very much every time we eat here and highly recommend it ❤️🧧🏮👌😋😋
w. R.
I love this restaurant very much food is tasty
陈.
Best Chinese restaurant in London for me.
L. S.
They put meat in a dish even after much discussion with their staff about needing the dish to be vegetarian. Once this was pointed out to them, they quickly cooked up a replacement that was vegetarian. The menus are kind of worn and the staff seem tired too (probably over worked).
W. Z.
This newly opened restaurant really caught my attention so I went there for dinner last week. The interior design was pleasant and room was airy, and the customer service was excellent, however the quality of the food is so average, and I did not like any of the 4 dishes. Both of us are very disappointed. Please make improvement on your regular dishes!
J. C.
Really authentic! Highly recommend.
C. Y. T.
The new Jinli restaurant at Newport Place is very similar to this Jinli branch, located along Leicester Street. In my opinion, this branch has a slight edge over its newer counterpart, in terms of the dry mala pot. The numbing spice takes an equal footing with the raw taste of the ingredients added, instead of overshadowing it. However, this branch falls short in the aspect of customer service, possibly due to the seating layout of the upper floor. It becomes a challenge when the waiters/waitresses don't take much initiative to address the customers seated at blind spots. Overall, I still love the food here.
G.
Pretty busy place and you'll probably have to wait a bit outside before you get a table assigned to you if you're with a group larger than two.
However the food is very nice and plentiful. Price is moderate, but you get true Chinese dishes instead of westernised versions.
S. L. L.
Ordered 烤鱼, fish was fresh and delicious. If you love spicy food, do come to Jinli. Instead it is too spicy for me. Even the vegetables they cook it with chilli.
A. J.
Excellent Sichuan food.
C. W.
Good food! Friendly service!
H. B.
Place is pricey.
Food is quite nice but the staff aren’t so friendly though. But overall they are good.
If you have companies you have to go inside their door together or they won’t assign you seats, crazy no?
Y. Z.
It's one of the best Sichuan restaurants in London! Love the dry pot dishes, especially the combination of fish, lamb and vegetables.
M. V.
Due to the amount of people in Soho, we had to wait a bit but the food was worth the wait. Certainly returning.
O. S.
Had dumplings and beer it was nice also the waiters were really kind
R. H.
probably the most authentic Sichuan restaurant in london! great food (but service is just ok)... recommended Spicy stir fried aubergine , Dan Dan noodle
M. m.
Thanks again for my friend who had been here, have a nice meals
Y. G.
I have only tried Ma La Xiang Guo (Spicy Numbing Stir-Fry Pot) and is really tasty. They must be using some of the finest "flavour enhancers". Definitely will go back for more.
M. B.
Very nice selection of dishes, some of which are impossible to find in 'mainstream' chinese restaurants. Huge portions, rapid (if distant) service, great flavors.
k. a.
My favourite place for Hot pot! Love everything ❤ and friendly staffs! Definitely come again!
W. Z.
Mala hotpot of dreams — best of class in London town!
P.
That dry hot pot is top quality
T. S.
Authentic Chinese restaurant in the hub of central London. Food excellent and friendly staff. The restaurant does get very busy & would suggest going early or making a reservation.
C. W.
Food is great and value for money, the queue can be quite long for dinner and weekend, it requires all people arrive before they can give you a table.
H. C.
Famous for being the most popular chinese restaurant among chinese students in London. I have to say the dood is good, but also relatively pricy as well.
j. d.
I really have to try other menus from this restaurant but i keep order hotpot. can't get away from it
Y. Z.
Very authentic Sichuan. Popular with Chinese students
K. M.
Their flavours are crafted with a passion for the Chinese culture.

J. L.
We had the winter melon and ribs soup, plus a cold dish and rice. Everything was so nice, we left really happy!
J. D. C. (.
Good centric place for having a family meal. The only problem is that drinks are ridiculously small. 20cl serves
W. S.

(Translated) For the Chinese in the UK: After trying many Cantonese Chinese dishes, this restaurant liberated my stomach. It is more in line with the taste of domestic Sichuan cuisine, very good, especially recommend his grilled fish, color and aroma. It is recommended to dine at 5-6, otherwise you will line up. The location is easy to find and the taste is very good.

(Translated) I saw the half-price news of the grilled fish on the red scarf. I didn't have a row number because I went early. The store is very small, about 10 tables. The grilled fish is very different from the domestic. You ca n’t stop it, which is great; fish is cheap, but if you add food to the fish, the price is not cost-effective, and there is a service charge in the store, so even if it is discounted, the price of the dishes and service is more expensive than other stores. Some, weigh yourself, whether it's a taste or a bargain

I have tried several and I think that this has the best food, besides it has an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. We ordered the classic sweet and sour chicken and shezuan chicken and they were delicious! I highly recommend it!
