Reviews of Mahdi Restaurant
N. A.
Cute restaurant with traditional decor. Food was great. We went for late lunch around 2pm. It wasn’t too busy. There was a nice atmosphere. The service was fantastic. Thank you Mahdi’s. Will be back.
J. D.
In my opinion one of the best Persian restaurants for providing good quality food in London. Very friendly and polite staff, and good atmosphere. No alcoholic drinks.
W. P.
The staff was very lovely and welcoming. Food was really delicious. The decor inside was very traditional. Spacious inside and good seating area for customers. Would definitely come here again soon.
M. U.
I am a big Mediterranean cuisine fan but this food was just mediocre. Hummus was dry not served with olive oil, kebabs were fine and pistachio saffron ice cream was good. It had more pan flavor in it. Average customer service but food came on time we didn't wait that long. The restaurant was little bit congested. I may visit this place again when i am in London next time but i had a good time here. They may need to work towards there customer service.
M.
Average food, lacked flavour and taste. Service was okayish. Cold and warm starters were decent but nothing stood out. Mix grill platter was disappointing. Unfortunately wont be coming back here again and I’d stick to my regular Persian restaurant.
S. B.
The service really let's this restaurant down. Doesn't really make a difference if you walk in or book a table - you will be left standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for a table. You'll also be left waiting a long time for food and it is difficult to get the attention of the staff. I would advise visiting at off peak times. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The food is good, large portions.
J. T.
Friendly and very attentive staff, clean and nice decorated restaurant. Loved the minced lamb meat. The fresh bread with pistachios is one of my favorites.
A.
Mahdi restaurant has always been my favorite place to have Iranian food! I have been going there since last twenty years! I love the atmosphere, above all. It's like a warm hug on a cold winter night! The food is amazing! Fresh tandoori naan is to die for! If you want to chill out and try Iranian best cuisine with friends and family Mahdi restaurant is the place to be. You'll not be disappointed. 👍

Excellent place to enjoy a fabulous Iranian dish in London. I had a hard time selecting since it all looked great. There was a lot of food on the menu I had never had before, but I was very much surprised by the taste and quality. When I'm back in London, definitely pay them a visit again. Highly recommended

Make sure you haven't eaten, before you land up here.
Everything was so delicious and scrumptious.
The host Zoey, was amazing and the service was really quick.
Even though everything on the menu is Persian, it's explained in easy English to understand what the dish is made of, or prepared with.
100% authentic, Persian presentation of food.
Welcome drinks and Persian tea to finish off the dinner.
I am stuffed up until my last bit of the oesophagus left inside me. I won't eat for another 3 days after (just kidding).
I will keep coming back and trying all the dishes on the menu.
Servers were so quick and I had a lot of fun chatting and eating, with a mix of all types of crowd seated around us. Cosy environment and lovely dinner time.
By the time we left, ques started forming outside and not even one table was free inside. Now I understand, why.
C.
Came here for date night. The food was delicious, we left very full and happy with the service we received. The freshly baked bread was our favourite.
H. R.
Nice place. Clean sit in. Friendly staff... huge portions like most persian restaurants. Does seem a little pricier than similar places. Skewers were done nicely and not burnt.
s. m.
Over all it was good. Staff was very nice. The rice had some red berries on them which kinda fighting with the taste pallet while having a mix shesh with it. Will go again soon.
H.
Astonishing food as always with huge portions. First class service and great all round experience in the beautiful restaurant. Plenty of the main left to bring home in a box for second meal! Been before and will return again for many more incredible meals.
T. W. N.
One of the best food I ever had. Mix grill was delicious and meat was soft and juicy. Excellent ambience. Customer service need to be improved.

I’ve been here many times and the food is always really good, from the service to the food it’s always exceptional. If you are ever in Hammersmith this is a must as it’s true authentic Persian cuisine. The bread is freshly made and is an amazing aroma when you walk into the restaurant. The menu offers a wide range of kebabs and vegetarian meals along with the best ever Persian tea I’ve had in London.
Although I recent time the service has been a bit rugged but I can let that pass as the food always prevails
The food served here is halal حلال
L. D.
Great food and always tastes amazing! The staff are very kind and attentive! Highly reccommend this place for anyone keen to try Iranian food!
S. U.
Visited with friends for dinner. The staff were friendly and the food was very well presented and my #28 (minced lamb skewer with thin chicken fillet skewer with saffron rice and salad) was an absolutely huge portion, certainly bigger than other Persian restaurants I've been to. The lamb was lovely, the chicken fillet was nice but not quite as tender as I've had before. Recommended.
M. M. N. (. M.
The customer service is top. The food is superbly good. The portions are huge. For now there is only takeaways available due the lockdown, but really would like to sit there with my family and enjoy the ambient with dining in with tea and dessert, as I am really exited after the good experience with take away food. Will use their takeaway soon again and cannot wait to reserve a table after the COVID madness ends.
م. ا. ع.
I don’t really like Persian cuisines, but Mahdi is very amazing, with all the delicious food that they serve. I really enjoyed the Minced Lamb that they make. Definitely recommend to others in London.
S. h.
We came here with family to have dinner, the restaurant is very nice with beautiful decorations. Classic Persian style.
They people who work there are really nice and welcoming.
As for the food, I’ve ordered chelo kebab, it was okay, not the best kebab I’ve had, it was abit dry and tasteless. However I’ve had a bit of the chicken kebab it was nice. Their yogurt drink (dough) was too thick, if more water was added and less mint it would’ve been nicer.
Overall it was a good night out and good experience.
R. P.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They took good care of you with serving and looked after your every need and paid attention to when plates needed changing.
The decor was very personal and very plush. The good seats were very comfortable.
The food was excellent with very large portions.. it was served hot and everything was extremely fresh and flavourful.
The question would I come again? Absolutely.
M. M.
Food was good, service great. Amazing Persian hospitality! The waiter was kind enough to offer amazing tea on the house. Definitely a keeper, must visit for all the carnivores. Oh and kudos for the interior
S. {.
First class persian cuisine marked with excellent service !
Food - the chicken and lamb kebabs were soft, tasty and piping hot !
Presentation - beautifully done ! The salad, main dish and table spacing was perfect, plates and utensils very clean ! Definitely picture worthy !
Service - 5/5, they catered to our every need, very child friendly and excellent attention to customer service !
Washroom facilities - absolutely clean and well lit !
Parking - not bad, evening parking on a single yellow would be the best bet.
All in all - you can’t go wrong !
E. S.
By far this is one the best Iranian restaurants in London. The food is delicious, portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. You need to bear in mind that they tend to get very busy on weekends and sometimes even during the week.
S. q.
This is an authentic Iranian food, with endless varieties. The place serves one of the best Saffron chicken I ever had. You need to try as well their Saffron drink and lemon mint drink especially in summer time
A. S.
Delicious food, average prices, massive portions! Friendly service. If you visit you MUST try their baked in pistachio flat bread and their mint virgin cocktail. The regular lamb kebab platter costs about £18 and definitely feeds 2 people! The lamb was VERY tender and tasty and the bejeweled rice was amazing too. I strongly recommend the saffron ice cream, the portion is big enough for two people (or more) to share and absolutely delicious!!!
R. O.
Really deserve the 5 stars
The vibes were traditional persian style
The food was amazing
I tried many persian restaurants in UK, but this one is the best with no doubt
S. Y.
Lovely restraunt food was amazing, fresh, warm the atmosphere is so soothing the staff are so nice definitely my new place to eat out. I got No.20 which was boneless chicken and some rice and it was fabulous, all around the best place from food to service to decor. Only thing negative I would say was no parking we had to pay for parking on the side roads, but will definitely go back.
K. I.
I go to this restaurant regularly; can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review! Food is excellent, the quality of the meat is also very good. Every time we’ve been, we have enjoyed our meal. The portion sizes are good too, I even like their salad! Hoping their food standards don’t drop as this is definitely one of my favourite restaurants and probably the best Persian restaurant I’ve been too! Only thing is, sometimes I think they roll the flatbread too thin - it becomes hard too quickly!
M. S.
Beautiful and carefully decorated restaurant, this restaurant is easy to get to and won't disappoint you.
Although is normally busy, you'll get a table in not a long time wait and decent service.
Food is delicious and in good portion.
Waiters do their best at the busiest time.
I don't give them 5 stars because I was surprised to find in the menu chicken dishes on the vegetarian part of it. Also because table are crumbled: bit too close from each other.
Anyhow, I've enjoyed it, it's reasonably priced and pleasant.
I recommend it.
I. N.
Excellent food, very nice staff, very clean place
T. K.
Very good place. The portion of food is generous and the tea pot can easily serve 2-4 people. I have tried mixed kebabs with rice and salad. It is a busy place during weekends as Iranian people come with families, but it is also popular among other nationalities. So don't hesitate and pop in for a nice meal to Mahdi Restaurant when you are around!
T. H.
Nice place lovely food. Worth a try.
T. H.
Food was good but not great. Plenty of options to choose from which is a plus point here.
Good customer service and pleasant staff.
M. R. P.
Great place to have a wonderful launch. Delicious and perfect.
M. I. H.
Mid range Persian Restaurant located closed to Ravenscourt park station. Foods are simple but very delicious. Portions are generous, lovely ambiance and atmosphere.
T. M.
Try the mix Grill. This is food from heaven. Once you finish your plate that comes with full portion of Persian rice, try the pistachio baklawa with a jar of tea. It is special and you cannot miss. Also, order pistachio bread with your food. I've never tasted anything as good as it in my life. The Persian ice cream is must if you still have some space after eating all the previous recommendations. The price isn't very expensive. I'd say it falls in the moderately proceed restaurants category.
A. S.
The best Persian restaurant I have ever been to. The food is finger licking good. Loaded with flavors and texture, the food here is simply made with expertise precision and love. Really enjoyed and would love to come here again.
K. Z.
Perfect Persian cuisine specially grill for 1 or 2 person( no 29/30 ) , kobideh (no 50) , barg ( no 53) nan bread , white sauce , red sauce all are super delicious.
Well these are what I have tried so far and I do eat everytime the same things.
But i hope other items are yummy as well.
I would definitely recommend to Persian lovers.
F. A.
Truly authentic Persian food. Absolutely delicious kababs and mixed grill is worth a try. Staff is amazing!
S. H.
Great Iranian food with freshly made bread. Get the pistachio nan as much as you can. It must be their signature nan. Dill and broad beans rice is delicious. Khorma sabzi is a great choice if you don't want you mic meat. The Kebab is OK. The tongue on the hot starter menus is also be I well made.
A. J.
Food is yummy, service is good, staff friendly ambiance cozy. A bit pricey. Recommended for special occasions, for fancy outing.
A. L.
The food was delicious. Had the lamb chops and kofta and it was all tender, juicy and tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive and the service was quick. Highly recommended.
A. S.
Been coming for years and it never dissapoints. The mix grill is a personal favourite with saffron steamed rice and finishing it up with a cup of tea.
H.
Good food, great size portions packed with flavour. Good ambiance and service too. Would recommend

Straight up what you want to know:
Atmosphere: 8/10
Food: 9/10
Staff: 9/10
Location: 6/10
Waiting time: 9/10
--
In depth explanation:
Quick note thats good to know; They don't serve alcoholic beverages here in case that's a dealbreaker.
Atmosphere: Very nice and cozy place with warm colours and welcoming staff as well as quick and easy service to every request.
The place is located on a normal street very close to the Thames river surrounded by other restaurants and smaller shops around. You can easily find the place just by following the river which by the way is a lovely walk in the evening next to it.
The food itself that we had was:
Starters:
Soupe Jo (14B) a sort of chicken soup.
Zeytoon Khiarshur (48) A mix of Gherkens, olives and mushrooms.
Main course:
Mixed Grill for 2 persons. (30)
A shared meat mix with rice on the side. The meats included are; Minced meat, chicken and lamb.
The chicken was very tender and well seasoned.
The lamb I personally couldn't have enough of and HIGHLY recomend it above all else, super tender and delicious.
The minced meat was.. good. Something didn't fit with me with it, think it was the texture that I didn't like but that was just me.
Dessert:
Baklava - a small sweet pastry with honey.
Persian tea - Its tea, what did you expect. One of the best teas admittedly.
Overall score: 9/10
Z. N.
Food was good, a bit overpriced and some of it a bit cold.
Staff were friendly and nice.
The place is amazing itself
I. B.
Really good service and food was given in good timing.
We had the mix grill for 2 and the lamb shank which were both great!
T. Z. R.
Very nice Persian restaurant with massive amounts of food, main courses could be shared by two, beware, they're not selling alcoholic drinks. After a starter and a main we couldn't get a chance to try the deserts.
A. H.
Food here is exception, love Persian food; must try the lamb neck with broad beans, absolutely delicious!!!
Service amazing as well ;)
M. S.
Had a very satisfying dinner here.
E. F.
I’ve been frequenting this place for years and it’s never failed to please. The food is delicious and very well priced. There isn’t another Iranian restaurant that comes close. Get the mixed platter always!
B. B.
Customer services need polishing up, they messed up on our order and wasn’t really bothered, however this has to be some of the best marinated meat around go for the mixed platter and the sesame seed Naan bread
Y. F.
I have been into many Persian restaurants in London as such as Persian Palace, Molana, Boof, Naranj, Brenjak, however Mahdi’s restaurants is one of the best in terms of service, food quality and friendly staff. Thank you very much.
G. C.
Great selection of food and drinks, I loved the vibes in here. On a slightly negative note, I would get rid of the plastic sauce pots with lids and using something eco-friendly
A. W.
My wife and me always come to this place and we have a nice time with delicious food! But be careful! Because the portions of the food are RUGE!! So if you wanna share a dish, go ahead. Just do not forget to take a fresh naan bread with humous. It’s amazing! So tasty food and very nice price for the portions and quality! I strongly recommend that!
B. C.
Brilliant flavours superb Persian atmosphere great service
Will pop back price is good pickles not my thing but the bread a must.
Ty
Y. E.
DELICIOUS! Everything we tried was tasty and filling. Warning: portions are huge! Tip: try the saffron tea. Pro: staff are very knowledgeable and friendly
h. z.
Good food. Love the mixed grill. Polite staff too
F. E.
Good Persian restaurant 10 mins from Hammersmith station.
The decor could do with an overhaul.
Service could be better as some of the staff don't speak English. Can be difficult to explain what you want.
However the food was good and generous portions.
B. M.
As a Turkish person, I'm very fond of the 'decent' kebab culture. The food here is really good. I like the quality of the meat, especially the lamb. Portions are huge. We always get mixed for 1 if we're 2 people or mixed for 2 if we're three! There's always plenty. Try mirza ghasemi for starters and eat it with fresh bread! The service is always good. The waiting staff are very polite.
N. F. P.
I love it. Great food. Unique ambiance. Really Great. Toilet hygiene needs improvement.
F. B.
Absolutely delicious Persian cuisine with a cosy themed seating area. Lovely decor. The chicken kebab was so tender and flavourful. Recommended.
J. C.
A truely magnificent Dining experience . Excellent Persian cuisine , tea with a stick of real honey , freshly baked bread from the oven in front of your eyes, friendly efficent service . Do try
D. P.
The second time we have been...returning customers..it is not hard to understand why because of the authentic decor and the fabulous food paired with friendly service.
M. K. N.
Very nice food however, the sitting area is bit limited. Very nice kebabs, berry rice and I loved those nan bread, very aromatic and tasty food.
They don't generally force you to pay cash but cash payments are rewarded with some kind of discount offers, not sure how much.
The iranian lady on the reception is very welcoming and hospitable and make you feel home.
Good experience overall specially when you are looking for halal food which matches with your taste.
A. H.
Super big portions (platter for 2 is actually for 3 etc.) and extremely tasty !! 10/10
G. Y.
So the place was nicely decorated and the food, people and prices were as aspected but in the beginning they bring sauces and nothing to eat it with??!?! So we have to ask for it. Why bring sauces and nothing to eat it with? I thought they give it to you as a mini starter.
T. T.
Very filling, fresh and flavourful Persian food served in huge and generous portions (including the starters), but the prices are definitely leaning towards more of the higher side. Nonetheless, I had a very positive dining experience with a friend and the staff were nothing short of accomodating and friendly.
D. M.
Great food, however I must mention the insanely high prices!
N. V.
Loved the ambiance and the food was so delicious..specially their Lamb kabab. And guys this restaurant is Halal.
R. l.
Lovely place, good foods
The best Ptisan food in london
F. M.
Great place for dinner or a lunch. I went on a Sunday without reservation and I could still get a nice table. Portions are plentiful and quality is good. Highly recommended
D. L.
Mahdi Restaurant never disappoints! Thank you very much, the meze and the grilled fish were delicious.
M. W.
Well cooked meat and rice, good quick service and nice vibe in the restaurant.
H. V.
The waiting time was quite long. Food was a bit greasy. Rice could’ve been better. Salad not much effort on it. Salad dressing had curry taste!!!! Why would you do that?!
No serve of alcohol drink is the shame!
A. A.
Lovely food. Defo worth going back not bad prices!
R. N.
We ordered mixed grill which is served with rice & Kashke bademjan which is served with fresh bread.. I mean it was amazing specially the lamb kobideh was so tender and spiced so perfectly it was a huge treat after cold walk.. I wanted fresh salad as well with the grill which we asked but never got. The only thing I wasn’t happy was the service, restaurant wasn’t that busy and quite a few waiters working but still was hard to get their attention. They were very busy getting takeaways out of the door which I know is the new norm.
R. M.
They brought the wrong dish and pretend they were going to change it but I waited a while and was hungry so I said it's okay. We clearly ordered lamb cuts on skewer but what came was cheap minced lamb without skewer. What a cheek! Not good
N.
Outstanding Food . Good Service, nice interior and comfortable seating, highly recommend the mix plater, ask for cash discount when paying
Y. Y.
Excellent food, brilliant service, nice bread, polite staff, welcoming
R. W.
Food is really good. Original Persian perhaps best in London. Their service needs to improve significantly. Their menu states fresh orange juice though we saw them pouring it out of Tropicana box. Upon enquiry they said they don't do fresh juice. Same with cocktails, pre-made and kept in fridge. Best to takeaway food from here as the manager and staff are daft and not helpful. Poor customer service.
L. A.
The food is absolutely delicious, the portions are huge, it's very well priced and the staff always look after us when we come here for some food.
A. M.
Been here a few times now. Mainly had the Kobideh and Fessenjoon (BTW if you haven't tried fessenjoon you must!). Generous portion and well priced given location. Very authentic Iranian food in a traditIonal settting. Service could have been a little more friendlier, I'm probably being a bit harsh though which is why I've given it a three.
A. R. A.
Good chelo kobda and mirza qassimi
H. H.
Dolma pepper is amazing!!
N.
Outstanding Food . Good Service, nice interior and comfortable seating, highly recommend the mix plater, ask for cash discount when paying
M.
Massive portions. Great food. Decent prices.
F. M.
Love it! A very good ambient! And the food was bang bang!
A. G.
If you are looking to escape into Persia for an hour or two and sample some of its authentic cuisine, this is the only place to go outside Iran.
p. m.
It reminded me if iran. I loved it.
T. Z. R.
Very nice Persian restaurant with massive amounts of food, main courses could be shared by two, beware, they're not selling alcoholic drinks. After a starter and a main we couldn't get a chance to try the deserts.
S. A.
Best ever Persian restaurant, very soft and nice meat , very delicious and amazing variety of options. Thanks guys
C. D.
Lovely food...
L. B.
Food was good service could be abit more attentive
M. A.
Good Iranian food, large portions
a. b.
Authentic persian food been there so many times. Food and service is outstanding
m. a.
Excellent food. The meat is very tasty and the rice is the best I've eaten. Waiters and waitress are very nice. They offer you a tea at the end of the meal. The decor is typical of middle East. The music is pleasant to hear. Some people say it's pricey: but given the huge portions they serve, I think the price is fine.
S. H.
Great food, good service and the decor is beautiful. The atmosphere is always buzzing. I highly recommend.
m.
Quick and easy service with friendly staff. Naan breads were fluffy as always.
J. N.
I visited this place with a friend who is Iranian (so that's a good recommendation).
I was a little concerned as the place seemed very quiet for a lunchtime but it is probably because people aren't aware of the place. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and the portions were generously sized too. I'd happily go there again when I'm in the area.
The only thing is that I don't really know much about Iranian food, so it would be helpful if the menu had more info on the different dishes - but that is really minor and all part of the fun with different cuisines
s. r.
Really nice food, big portions plus it’s HMC!
R.
Probably the best Iranian restaurant in London. Great food and the staff AND the owner are very helpful, respectful and friendly every time.
M. S.
We ordered sabzi polo ba mahi, which is herb (mainly dill with lots of garlic) infused rice with fish. I usually dread this as I am not big fish fan. The fish was sea bass and it was easily the best I have ever had. So tasty and fresh. I would guess the fish was fried. I would recommend this to anyone.
s. k.
Very nice ambience, food is good and presented well, food served is stated halal. Location of the restaurant is good
A. G.
If you are looking to escape into Persia for an hour or two and sample some of its authentic cuisine, this is the only place to go outside Iran.
d. g.
Food ok, service was just about ok..... Bill presented in non English and they realy dont want to take Amex 🤣
D. B.
Good menu. It was crawded and a bit slow. Worth to try the cold starters with the home made bread.
i. T.
Nice place good service fine food
Enjoyed
Order mix grill for three person and it was plenty for three of us and Chai (tea) at the end
A. B.
The best Iranian food in London. Me and my husband are huge foodies and this beats any other Iranian restaurant hands down. We have tried many places in London for this cuisine but Mahdi is number one. Even if you are not from the area it’s worth the trip. After you eat here you’ll never eat from another Iranian restaurant ever again. Others I’ve spoken to feel the same way too. Thank you for never disappointing us. Value for money and very very satisfying and yummy food. 10/10.
f. s.
If you need a food to satisfy your soul you have found the right place ! Amazing variety of tastes, fresh and clean, made just after your order goes through. The people are also kind and very helpful; I have called at times after ordering to change or add things; never any trouble !
B. C.
Excellent HMC Halal food
Ps pay with cash (cheaper)
C. E.
This used to be my favourite restaurant, not only is the food great but the price was unbeatable. My girlfriend& I traveled an hour across London today to eat here and the food was still good, but the price has gone up 150% since Brexit. The decor is Persian with sumptuous decorations. The staff are friendly enough, but have always seemed distracted. A good place for a date or family dinner. Now it has priced itself into a band where you expect the food to be good it is no long that hidden gem, and now nothing special. Still good but I won't be travelling across London to eat there again.
n. a.
The best Iranian restaurant in London.. they serve very delicious food and drinks.. beautiful Persian decorations.. the staff is very nice and friendly.. (try DOOG - yogurt drink)
T. C.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant! The food is phenomenal
S. M.
Amazing, this was the best persian food I ever ate around the world
A. M.
Lovely place, amazing food and customer service. 👌
C. Ö.
It is delicious but the staff is rude. The portions are quite enough. It is halal and it is the a few options near Hammersmith central.
V. P.
The best Persian restaurant for authentic food I have ever been to. The mixed grill is just amazing and could easily feed 3 people. Great decor and a very warming atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you like Persian food then this is a must if you live in or around Surrey, west and south London. You will not be disappointed! Every time I come here I end up in a food coma as I cannot day no to all the food.
S. M.
The best iranian restaurant in London. Highly recommended. I just love it.
R. A.
Really delicious food with good service, good portions and really yummy tahini sauce! also very yummy cranberries
R. A.
A flawless dining experience.
We went as a party of 8, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Everything had an authentic feel - from the decor to the food itself. The servers were friendly and our meals came quickly. Everything was delicious, and came as a large portion (even my dessert and the pot of tea at the end were more than a fair size), indicating good value for money. The staff were also more than happy to provide take-away boxes for what we could not finish.
Overall, the Mahdi Restaurant exceeded all expectations. Everyone in our group praised the person who found it for us! I would happily go back there and recommend it to anyone.
L. P.
Best persian restaurant in London. Amazing food especially the koresht fesenjan, an amazing lamb stew with pomegranate and walnut sauce
J. F.
Simply one of the most delicious meals I have had in London. Fantastic atmosphere, kindly staff, incredible aromas and the flavours and textures to back it up. Will be coming back any time I can.
F. M.
Love it! A very good ambient! And the food was bang bang!
M. M.
The best restaurant in London for middle east and halal food

Food was good service could be abit more attentive

Definitely the best Persian food in London! Always go here to eat and never had a bad experience. Good sized portions so you’ll never go home hungry.
M.
Massive portions. Great food. Decent prices.
K. R.
Very nice food, big portions but not cheap and need some updating.
H. H.
Dolma pepper is amazing!!

Excellent Iranian restaurant. Great food, great service and lovely traditional decoration.
Highly recommend.

The best Iranian restaurant I have tried ever.

Visited the day before the 2nd lockdown in November and were very dissapointend with their lack of social distancing measures. In addition not all waiters wore masks and stood over guests whilst taking orders, partly due to the cramped space between tables. Nobody including customers wore marks when leaving their tables, which the restaurant should have advised diners to do so, especially as the restaurant space was cramped.
Food - Was ok, wasnt bad, although it's hard to get grilled meat and rice wrong. In fairness we enjoyed the food. One criticism was that they decided not serve any items from dessert menu which was disappointing as we were looking forward to dessert. It would have been nice of them to make us aware of this before started to order our starters and mains.
Service Charge - On this occasion we asked for it to be removed as we preferred to leave a tip, but we're informed that if the restaurant did this, than instead they would have charge an additional VAT charge of 5%, complete rubbish off course.
Decided to pay as the place was very busy and we didn't want to push it considering how cramped the place was, especially as every table had to pay at same area if paying by card.
I. B.
Love the food but just too much salt.
S. A.
Best ever Persian restaurant, very soft and nice meat , very delicious and amazing variety of options. Thanks guys
I. I.
Food is super delicious, portions are very generous. The ambiance is very lively and bright. Every spoonful gives you an idea of richness, diversity and perfectionism of Persian cuisine. It is definitely will be your love at first bite!
W. S.
Lovely welcome. Consistently tasty choices. We had the 22, 25A and 28A which are served with half salad half rice. Bread is delicious. Dough (yogurt with mint drink) excellent. Staff are charming and it's child friendly.
J. Y.
I visited with friends for Nowruz (Iranian New Year), great authentic food and a good atmosphere - one of the best that i have been to in London.
S. r.
Iranian food at its Finest! Amazing.
S. S.
Excellent. Will be my regular restaurant from now on. Far better than the ones I known and either visited or ordered food before for many years. Exceptional tasty, fresh and soft kuftae. It gets busy though at times but never come without prior booking. It is a Gem as for the Persian food.
M. Z.
The meat and rice is great but unfortunately the bread was dry and brittle on this occasion. I will visit again and can still recommend them. The waiters could've been more attentive as we'd probably have ordered more if they had engaged with us.
J. M.
I love Persian food and this place doesn't let down my expectations. High quality meats cooked really tender. Beautifully cooked rice. Polite staff and a decorative environment. No booking was necessary on my visit. The prices are standard, like all persian restaurants. Good price for large portions. No alcohol served here.
B. K.
Delicious food, service could be a lot better.
M. J.
It was very authentic both in terms of food and ambience, staff were friendly and helpful will definitely visit again. There were main dinners that were of Iranian ethnicity which was nice to see. I loved their yogurt drink.
H.
Check you bill!!! hidden charges miraculously appear? Otherwise food is good but the service is rubbish

Mahdi is a fantastic restaurant, serving authentic Persian food in congenial surroundings (very like many restaurants in Tehran). Food is delicious, both grilled lamb/chicken kabobs with rice, stews (khoresh) with ingredients like walnuts, barberries, pomegranate, and desserts, The flat bread baked in the onsite oven, and the dips (eg aubergine (baba ghanoush/mirza ghazemi), hummus etc) are delicious. Friendly staff (especially Hamid) and very good value with enormous portions. Only takeaway at the moment but normally full of multigenerational family groups enjoying a feast! Unlicensed but very good pub next door for drinks before or afterwards.
U. L.
The food is greater taste and very friendly staff.
E. M.
One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in London, will be eating here again when I return to England. I had the shawarma and the freshness and excellent taste and kind staff where exemplary.
T. D.
Ended up in here as there was a long wait for Eat Tokyo up the road and it's fair to say it was excellent. The food was super fresh - the flatbread being visibly baked to order at the front of the restaurant - and authentically Persian. The portions were incredibly generous and the service excellent - resulting in half our mains being boxed up for us to take with us! Would thoroughly recommend.
S. H.
Very tasty food, the meat was beautifully cooked and the rice was the best I've ever had! Little things let it down like a sticky floor. But the place is beautiful with good food, would go again if we were in the area!
U. A.
One of my favorites. Food is amazing. Staff is friendly and helpful. They do charge a 10% service fee but that can easily be overlooked. Their persian tea is amazing
M.
Lovely, fresh food - I always order atleast one new thing from the menu. If you are a dessert person you maybe disappointed. The decor is nice but needs some restructure, it tends to get quite "stuffy" when busy. Staff are nice, when it's not so busy... I guess that's understandable. Overall, I've been coming here for 7 years - so there must be something they are doing right ;-)
M. S.
Absolutely love this place. Possibly the best food, style & service in the area. Lovely Persian decor. Lively spirit. Mouth-watering selection of meat dishes, including lamb kofta, as well as cold & warm starters. Always hope to come back!
N. L.
I was never a fan of Iranian food but this place changed my mind. The food was so good! I ordered lamb skewers with saffron rice and oh my... The meat was so juicy and succulent and the rice was honestly the best rice I have ever had. I'm not really big on rice, to me, it's like bread; I use it to soften the food in my mouth but this rice was different. I could have had it on its own. We were served by Sina who was so hospitable and kind, honestly, no one has made us feel so welcome like how he did. He offered us take away containers for the food we couldn't finish and he was so attentive and caring, he even gave us advice on when to eat the food and told us that the aubergine starter we had ordered makes for an excellent breakfast :D such a lovely guy. Thank you for taking such good care of us, Sina. The interior is interesting and it can be a bit crowded so do call in if you're going with a big group. Recommend!
A. S.
Is very beautiful decorated place ! Food is nice ,but me i had some spinach with prawns and i did not enjoyed that much only because was not exactly my taste like but the other dish which was fish was ok. To be honest prices are quite high for it but is understandable due to location,as i mentioned is super nice! Bread also is freshly made which is great point too.
i. m.
It’s only when you know this restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol you appreciate the atmosphere imbued in place. The food is excellent and consistently so. Humus and flat bread to start then chicken and rice. V tasty. Succulent chicken.
As good to take away as to eat in. If taking away I recommend calling ahead and giving then about 20 minutes to prep your order.
Always found the staff attentive and friendly. Had many meals there over the last few years and always consistently good.
S. R.
I come to this restaurant regularly with either my family or friends. If I want Iranian food in a nice environment then this is the only place I would go to and have been for nearly 2 years now. Food is always great and the staff are always caring towards the kids. Yesterday who I believe is the owner even come out to me and gave me a box of chocolates which I thought was a really nice appreciative touch. I will be back!
F. Y.
Fantastic service and food
R. T.
The portions are generous and the flavours are wonderful. Food is attractively presented and restaurant is very attractively decorated. Quality of service varies, even on weekdays.
Prices seem typical for the area. My US credit card without chip-and-PIN wasn't accepted, so paid cash.
No alcohol, but I overheard from another diner that the spiced tea was good.
s. m.
Food was really tasty and great customer service
M. -.
I go to a lot of Persian/ Middle Eastern restaurants and this one is definitely worth a try. Don't let the cheap restaurant name display outside fool you! Once you walk you, the restaurant is really pretty and tasteful. Many middle eastern restaurants have a 'random messy decor' that looks like someone decorated it with random collectibles. But not Mahdi, its beautifully put together. Even their serve ware, they serve shared meals on a cake stand to help with the space on the table for eating. Service was really good , professional and friendly, food came out fast and all together. Now for the actual food, we had the mixed starter as we were 5 of us sharing. Its nice that you can mix and match which starters you want yourself. We took the Tomato , aubergine, chicken egg x2 and humus. They were all good with their fresh warm naan.
For the main course, I shared a mixed grill for 2. The chops was excellent, so tender and taste full. Same for the chicken fillets and minced kebabs. The rice came served with currents, which if I new I would've asked they to leave out, however still everything was tasty. I would definitely recommend Mahdi and go back if i was in the area.
S. M. H.
Visited 22 Jun 2019 for a dinner, food was nice and service was too! I have given one star less due to ambience, looked old and dusty. However the food is recommended and i will visit again with my family and friends. Probably best kebab and rice in town.
R. B.
Friendly and courteous staff and excellent variety of dishes. Highly recommended
S. A.
Mega busy whenever I've been but that's always a good sign, dont mind waiting and usually seen in 10 to 15 mins tops.
The service to really good with food coming out hot and quick. Mixed sheesh all the way, little bit of everything but it's all good.
Definitely a regular when ever fancying a bit of persian food. A must try for anyone not been.
J. A.
It used to be a good food experience. Lately it feels that they have compromised on the food quality. It does not feel authentic as it used to be. Prices also have hiked. At cost around £26 per head without drink.
k. N.
The food was excellent but we had a horrendous experience with the floor manager (slim man, Afghan accent). We came early (12pm) as we had a big group of 20 girls and ordered 10 meals to share (we are a youth group on a budget). He threw a fit about us not spending£10 per person as it states on the menu or ordering drinks and acted rude and childish whenever we had to deal with him. I tried to give him feedback before I left, telling him that he made me feel small and that we were valid customers . (We spent £147!) But he told me he "is the best and that all customers love him" and when I said I don't really care about that, that I was just trying to explain how I felt, he completely lost his mind and said "I don't care about you!" so I left and he kept shouting after me. I have never been spoken to like that in a restaurant ever. What a horrible, arrogant man.
L. S.
Lovely place , food is super delicious, I haven’t been there for a while but can’t wait to go back!

Very nice and friendly staff, mixed grill platter was lovely.. the bread was great (hot and fresh). starters was amazing.
Kebab and rise was delicious
high quality food.
Lovely and cosy environment. Everyone enjoyed it
A.
Very good food. 3rd time visiting. Staff are friendly.. fresh nan is fantastic and authentic. Meats are cooked well and good portion size..I enjoy this place and visit whenever I'm close and in need of a Persian fix. Hmc certified . Good all round. Persian tea at the end was a well needed round-up . Parking on the side street has always worked for me.
S. B.
I have been visiting this restaurant for last 20 years. Probably the best and most reasonably priced restaurant for Persian cuisine in London. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. Only downside that u might que up for an empty table as it has become quite popular. Would recommend to anyone.
S. K.
Amazing Persian cuisine Loved their mix grill. The best manager and the great staff. We were bit late but they welcomed us with a great hospitality and soothed our taste buds with their amazing mixed grill and safron rice.
Keep up the team work.

Perfect Dinner
Perfect food and service. Nice environment and the went the extra mile with our table.
I requested Tah dig which is a crunchy rice created when cooking the fluffy rice, toasted and tasteful.
Not on the menu but I got it thanks to my marvellous server Hamid.
😍😍😍

This was my first visit and I was not disappointed. 7 of us went for our works Xmas meal and we loved it. Service was fast, food was hot and delicious, the portions were very generous and we even had doggy
bags. Will definitely go again.

Not bad, good food quality

Enjoyed the mix grill thoroughly. Not too sure about the other food, unless Persian good is what you are in to!
M. G.
I have always one of the best dining experiences in Mahdi. Excellent food and the staff are all friendly and helpful.

Dine here after wedding reception :) made a arrangement week in advance with the manager of the restaurant back in December. They give me the section enough for 30 people with nice set up for us. Food was delicious, go for few mixed grill with their unique traditional rice very fluffy and delicious and mixed starters, along with their Persian style ayran (yoghurt drink) recommended 😋 then they help us with cutting the wedding cake (very kind of them) and had their traditional Persian tea again it was very nice and recommended. All our friends and family really enjoy the service and quality of the food. Fairly priced for the quality of the food they serve and very friendly staff. Again I like to thank them all for having us there much appreciated 😇
A. W.
This is my second favourite Iranian.restautant however it beats every one in town with the sheer variety on its menu. Their stews are probably the best in London and the.pistachio bread alone is worth a visit. If you are looking for something different and dont want to get disappointed by experimenting with a new dish ie anything apart from the well tried and excellent chunjeh, koobideh, and chullu.kebab, Mahdi is your place.
A. S.
Always fabulous fresh food guaranteed. Large portions and very reasonable prices. We always go for the mixed grill and the aubergine starter with the fresh oven sesame flat bread. Would highly recommend.
N. T. W.
The kabob is good and they have improved very much and the food is less oily, the inclusion of salad is also a nice touch if I may say so myself. The highlight of this restaurant is their hygiene which has impressed me a lot.
M. A.
Revisited after lockdown and still remains one of my favourite parsi.
Succulent meats, big portions, Shah era vibe with the beat tea.
J. F.
The elaborate traditional decor creates a lovely atmosphere, the food is only mostly good as it doesn't compliment the lavish decor.
The starter dishes were good, though a touch minimal in the flavour and decoration department.
We had a real issue when one of the main dishes we ordered was not what it said on the menu. The staff were not accommodating or apologetic when I pointed out that there were two major elements missing from the dish. The waitress tried to disagree and then after i pointed out the menus description agreed to add the missing elements, however the dish was altogether not very appealing to myself or my friend. It compiled of rice omlette and a rice mound with one piece of chicken.
I felt the staff could have dealt with the situation much better, it made us feel uncomfortable.

Amazing food thank u guys!!!!!fresh and well presented!!!staff very friendly !!!

Best food ever, nice place good staff and friendly.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The exterior is tacky and should think about making it look more presentable. Interior looked very nice but you can say is a little cramped
Food was delicious. Meat was tender and the rice was also delicious. Seasoned well. And also very juicy.
Service wasn’t the best, staff were friendly, when asked to takeaway the leftovers they just gave us the container and we had to do it ourselves, when paying we had to goto the till and pay although the card machine was wireless????!!!!
HMC certified. No alcohol which is great

This is a very nice restaurant. Really good value. We walked in off the street without a reservation. The restaurant was full, they managed to accommodate us.
The food is fantastic.
Thank you we had a lovely evening.

A flawless dining experience.
We went as a party of 8, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Everything …

This restaurant is just lush. I love Persian food and Mahdi is right up there. Can be pricey but well worth the money. Across the road there's a nice park with river walk as well. Such a nice place for Date night
J. 2.
I love the food! Good portion size and value for money. :)

This place is great! The first time I ordered here was for my Iranian boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday, catering for over 20 people. The service was great and the food excellent and I've ordered many times since and it always hits the spot. I've been to a lot of Iranian restaurants in London but I think this is my favourite. The manager Faramouz (not sure of spelling..) is really nice and very friendly!
Highly recommend!!!
F. D.
Good classic Iranian food. Thumbs up for the mixed grill for two!
m. g.
Greatly decorated venue mad clash of interesting stuff all over. Nicely grilled food. Clean staff. Waitress was over run. Sauces arrived at the table ten minutes to the end, of meal. Keep your group under a small odd number. Arrive on time for a lunchtime meal and order quickly for smoother service.
M. S.
Highly recommended. I came here for the first time 10 years ago with a friend from Iran. It has never disappointed me since then. Be careful not to order to much!!
N. I.
Truly delicious.
Rice was very nice and soft. Definitely tasted fresh and not recooked.
The mix grill was all tasty. The chicken was my favourite.
The chips was even tasty. Seemed freshly cut and cooked.
The price seemed a little expensive however it makes sense, as the portions are large.
Definitely worth the value.
HMC approved.
Very busy place therefore book in advance.
Persianly cosy 😋
A. A.
Small place but tasty food
A. E.
Top food. Prices are ok. Portions are very generous. Reluctant to take cards without a sign on the door saying that. When you don’t have cash, suddenly the card machine appears !!
Otherwise would have been 5 stars
N. A.
Food is, as always, amazing, portions are quite generous, and staff are very polite and always smiling.
The halal assurance is a plus, as it is very hard to find somewhere that’s both halal and as amazing as Mahdi is, and although it’s quite the distance, and parking can be a pickle, it’s totally worth it.
Would be happy to return.
A. R.
Family has been going here for decades. For authentic Persian food - cannot recommend it enough. Ambience and decor also great.
S. B. (.
Average Iranian food not lots of choice but the presentation was good and food tasted ok the lamb chops and Kebabs had a distinctive off putting smell which I did not not mention to the owners as it wasn't worth making a complaint bit over priced for the food they served.
C. K.
Food was really good, came out as large portions. We even had a lot of rice left over, and they gave us plastic tubs so that we could take them away. Unfortunstely the waitress who was serving us seemed to be in a grumpy mood throughout the entire evening, which slightly ruined our experience, as we went for a friends birthday. Highly reccomend the mixed grill!
S. R.
Even though the service was excellent I found the food very tasteless. The rice had no salt in it the meat did not have those aromas I was expecting. The starters were very good. I would prefer Behesht restaurant for the tastiest iranian cuisine at a cheaper price but you won't get the best service there like you do here.
B.
After living in Gulf for many years, I would love eating Persian food, but, to my bad luck, there are none even closer to the ones in Dubai.
.
We were guided to Mahdi Resturant by our cab driver and I simply could not bless him enough.
.
The food here was extremely delicious and served with great love and affection. The decor is all fine in Persian way.
.
Falooda Ice cream is highly recommended.
C. A.
Our first time visit and the food was outstanding....we made small orders in case we don't like the food but end up eating it all. Very very delighted. Excellent staff and the restaurant
M. S.
Awesome food. The mixed greens and mixed meats was fantastic.
D. K.
Best Persian restaurant in London! Delicious food, very good service and great management. The owner great customers individually when he's there. You feel so special in this place, with a fairly low price for the experience!
S. G.
Very good and delicious food with nice staff.
h. a.
Great restaurant that serves really good food and massive portions.
W. N.
Great food as always 👍
S. A.
Really nice food. Would definitely come back.
H. A.
Good Persian. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. The meat is good and bread fresh out of the taftoon! Decor is sparkly. I like to take colleagues to introduce them to something other than pret or Leon for lunch. Service could be better.
P.
I have been to many Persian restaurants around London, and this is head and shoulders above the rest. My fiancee is Persian, and we live in Oxford, but the quality of food and service here is worth the travel. There is street parking on the side streets around the restaurant, which is free after 1830, meaning you can drive there and park nearby.
They do fresh flatbread and dip before the meal, a range of Persian stews, kababs and rice dishes for the main and some delightful saffron ice cream. Portion size is large. Thus we always end up taking some home and eating it for lunch the day afterwards. They provide plastic containers for you to do this.
Overall an excellent restaurant, with friendly and accommodating staff.
S. M.
Visited in Apr 2016. Excellent relaxed atmosphere, very good decor. Staff happy to help, explain menu etc.
Ordered mixed grill for 2, which comes with rice; was not disappointed!! Be prepared to wait write a bit for your order (20 mins) but that's because everything is prepared fresh.
Excellent food. Definitely try their 'Qawah' (green tea) at the end of your meal, very refreshing.
Overall a very, very enjoyable evening.
Would definitely return. Highly recommended.
B. D.
Would never had tried this without encouragement from an Iranian friend.
I would have missed out big time. Not only excellent food including gluten free and vegetarian but plentiful quantities. Great service and fascinating decor. Try it.
Y. ..
Great food as always and very efficient service. If you're a fan of persian cuisine and grilled food this is a match made in heaven! I've come here a few times and have never been disappointed.
C. M.
I was glad that we had booked, since we did have a large party. The food was good and the staff were friendly. My highlight of my evening has to be the Nan which was freshly baked and nice on its own or with homous.
We ordered the mixed grills which comes in the choice of being served for 2 or 3 people. We ordered all ours to be for 3 people but it can be shared between 4 people. The mixed grills consisted of grilled lamb fillet, grilled chick fillet, grilled minced meat and grilled chick on the bone. This was all served with saffron rice with barberies and grilled tomatoes. My favourite of the grills has to be minced meat followed by the grilled lamb fillet. The chicken was nice but I found it dry which you expect being grilled.
The meal was great with the Iranian aromatic tea and to warm up in the cold winter weather.
You will walk out of the restaurant not feeling hungry as the food is good and a decent portion size!
A. R.
Been going to this restaurant as a customer for over 10 years. It has never failed to impress me, my friends and family. The staff and the owner are amazing and I couldn't recommend this place more. Amazing value, quality and generous portions.
J. K.
Loving my lamb chops. Husband like his roti naan
A. K.
Mahdi is one of the few places that I go to regularly with my friends and family. Sometimes I want to be selfish and not tell others about it. I think I have brought upwards of 100 people with me. My friends and their friends probably think I get a commission. Anyway, I can only think of two people that didn't enjoy the food here and at 98% it is pretty damn good. Let's just say if you don't like Mahdi then our friendship won't probably last either. Staff are fantastic, their mixed grill is delicious. They win on quality and price.
M. I.
This restaurant is just lush. I love Persian food and Mahdi is right up there. Can be pricey but well worth the money. Across the road there's a nice park with river walk as well. Such a nice place for Date night

Great atmosphere, service and Iranian food
S. S.
One of the best in Iranian restaurants in London with very friendly and attentive staff. A good selection of hot and cold starters, mains and and a small desert menu. The food portions are very generous and a combination of two mains and two starters will be a struggle to finish! They do provide you with very good takeaway containers to take the left over with you. There's no alcohol served but try dough ( Iranian drink with yogurt ) that complements the kebabs nicely.
The decor is very old fashioned and may not be to everyone's taste, but it's something different and similar to some more authentic places you get in Iran, although they could do with some minor refurbishment. The clearing is comfortable and will be good for families.
Y. H.
Very cozy traditional Persian atmosphere. Nice staff. Tasty and well presented Kababs. Decent portions. Mojitos are also amazing. Tah dig was also very delicious and crispy. Quite a pleasant experience indeed, highly recommended.
M. G.
The staff are nice. The lamb tounge as a starter was good. But our other starter (Ash) wasn't actually what we were expecting. It was something else.
Apparently, "kubideh" (minced lamb) is very good there. But we didn't go for kubideh. The Sheeshleek I ordered was medium and the chicken ( zereshk polo ba morgh) was awful.
F. K.
Beautiful place .Nice food . Reasonable price but unfriendly and unprofessional waiteresses, arguing in front of customers .
as soon as a person at our table finished eating one of them started to take everybody's plate away. In the end We received a messy handwritten bill and finally after we left we realised that someting was missed from our order.
J. C.
Decent Persian food. A bit under seasoned perhaps. Service was attentive but a bit confused. They bake their own flat breads, which is nice but do make sure your seated away from the oven!
D. B.
Delicious Iranian food in huge quantities - we couldn't finish a starter between us and a main each. The lamb baked in saffron rice was out of this world. Service was a bit abrupt, but the restaurant was packed and I think they were just trying to get everybody in and served.
J. Y.
This persian restaurant offers great value for money food and is often completely packed on the weekend with families. The service is warm, friendly and quick. Although some of the flavours are sometimes lacking, the general quality is very high for the price and the portions huge.

Massive portions. I would suggest sharing. Mixed grill for 3 easily served 4. Delicious food, good choice. Not expensive for London. Convenient location near Hammersmith Town Hall on King Street. No alcohol.
A. Z.
The dish I ordered was an all around masterclass in cooking. The taste was authentic Persian- dry, seasoned and filled with dry fruits. The doogh drink was made how it should be made in all Persian Restaurants. Coupled with the pleasant eating experience was the decór which may make one feel as if he is dining in some restaurant in Shiraz. Highly recommend this experience
C.
Delicious food. Good service
P.
In my view the best Persian restaurant in London. Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, superb food and very reasonable prices. The "standard" kebabs are of premium meat and absolutely delicious. But the stews (like Gormeh Sabzi) are to die for - they cannot be described, you just have to try them.
S. S. (.
This has been my secret eatery for years! I was apprehensive about going in initially as it felt quite culturally exclusive, it’s got a great atmosphere once inside you just can’t appreciate from passing by and peering through the window, the staff made me feel so welcome and talked me through all their food options to establish what I may like, I’ve learnt so much about Persian food & culture from just eating here & taking to staff. I love that I always have left overs and taking these away is the done thing -rather than being frowned upon.
The stews are so warming & salad olivieh with the freshly baked bread is divine!
I. S.
Very nice ambience to the place. Food was tasty and service was first class. Recommended if you love Persian food.
S. D.
Excellent place if you want to go somewhere nice. The food is tasty, the portions are huge and will probably end up taking some home. The service is excellent and the staff always make you feel welcome. Better make a reservation on weekends.
F. K.
This is a regular visit for us as it is my 8 yr old son's favourite restaurant and we go there to celebrate any of his achievements.
Food is always amazing, portion size is good. Always served hot. Chelov Kubide is out of this world, if you are a meat lover. Their Kashme Badmejan (grilled Aubergines) is fantastic with bread. Humous not so great, very bitter, when spoke to the manager said it was Iranian style and it's made bitter.
We end our meal with a pot of Irani tea which gets you mellowed.
Decor is very Persian style and welcoming. My daughter loves their tiny fish tank!
Service is quite poor as nobody smiles and table given to sit is in the middle of the restaurant and can't chose even though it was only half full.
They also give a 10% discount if you pay cash.
We ignore the poor service and go regularly to enjoy the great food!!
A. W.
I've never been to Iran but this is the best Persian food I've tried. The bread is fresh and so tasty. I love the mirza ghasemi, sabzi and bademjan. The staff are normally nice, although there is one who is a bit surly. The tea is great. Overall one of my favourite restaurants.
C. E.
Came here for an early dinner before a show at the Apollo , as we were stopping in the Premier Inn.
We ordered the mixed grill ( no 30 on the menu) and a side of pistachio bread
The food and servuce were absoloutley fantastic. I would highly recommend this reataurant.
A. R.
Lovely food and amazing service however only 3 stars as they refused to remove the service charge because we were paying by card and said if we pay by cash then they will remove it. Already i dont agree with service charge as i believe i should be able to tip as i want not as directed and felt that adding a condition to it really ruined the brilliant experience we just had there. Such a shame
I. I.
One of the nicest Persian restaurants I've been. Very tasty food. Went there with my friends loved the food so much went next day with my cousins. The kebabs is a must try. Warm welcoming staff

Persian foods. Delicious and fair price. The atmosphere take you to old time in middle east. Polite staff. Weekend usually bueasy and some times good idea to make reservation in advance spetially if you are a big family.

Very delicious food. For appetizer, we ordered Homus and Mast-o-Musir which come with the freshly baked sesame bread. For the main dishes, we ordered Chelo Bakhtiary, Chelo Morgh, and Loobia Polo with lamb shank. All were very good. The virgin mojito cocktail is very good too. The staff were friendly. I recommend it.

Authentic environment, good service, polite staff, food is delicious and pretty large size portions. Prices are reasonable. I especially liked the tea at the end. Thank you.

Amazing food and atmosphere. The food is so fresh, filling and plentiful. Unfortunately, the one lost star is due to the recent change in behaviour of staff- where have the good ones gone and why must the new ones act so rude whilst the wonderful manager is not there? It really is off putting and disappointing but nonetheless, my fave restaurant for the past several years.

Food is simply great and for the price you pay the quantity and quality meet more than your expectations! Would definitely visit again. If you haven't been already you're missing out!!!!
S. I.
The service here is amazing and so attentive and the food is very good of what I had which is a mixed grilled with the rice and chips (highly recommend the chips) with drinks coming with straws to letting you charge your phone there. First class service.

Food is definitely very nice, it’s very clean place and they have good number of staff members.
I’ve visited several times with my friends once we ordered naan bread with mixed grill and they didn’t bring naan but it was included in the bill and they still charged us for the service and Last time we were still eating food and they started talking cutlery not even bothered to ask us that if we have finished yet so I’m not satisfied with the service and they charge for serving.

Amazing restaurant, been here for 20+ years. Friendly staff and other customers, delicious food, be warned the set menus are huge and feed wayore people. Had a lovely couple of hours spent eating and chatting here while drinking mint tea. Loved it
F. E.
Been here twice and both times really enjoyed it. The food is excellent - both times ordered kofta kebab and chicken sheesh with saffron rice. Quality and Serving Size were both really great. Would recommend.
T. P.
I keep coming to this place. I have brought every member of my family and half my friends. The mixed grill never ever disappoints. Everything is good and service is great.
Prices are very reasonable.

Great food and very good service. Reasonably priced but they charge more if paying by debit/credit card. Too cramped, hot and stuffy. Could've done with turning the air conditioning on.
D. G.
Great place to eat, food your mama would serve for her special guest! Good generous portions served, really popular which surprised me for a Monday evening. Staff do their best to please all.
Go there and stuff your face, it's so worth it!

One of the best Persian restaurants in London! We had pistachio naan, Mastokhiar, tahdig with ghormeh sabzi, tachin (eggplant), and chicken kabob. The service was excellent. Food comes out faster than we expected. If you look like you have a question, someone is over quickly.
S. K.
Good food, excellent service. A bit expensive
I. B.
Great value here for the lunch special. Quality of the did was good and the fresh bread authentically baked was really nice. Portions are very generous so would definitely recommend if you have empty stomachs and a modest budget
S. W.
Food was good, service was poor. Whisked our plates away from us before they asked if we were finished (we weren't!). Then we sat waiting to pay for about twenty minutes, and they had a steep £20 minimum for card payments. Just really weird service all round.
N. A.
Probably the best Persian food in London, reservation is recommended because it's very busy. All the staff member speak Farsi and know properly their dishes. Portions are extra large and rich. Recommended dishes are Chelo Barq and Chelo Kubide. Unfortunately their web site doesn't allow orders online or delivery, you can order first and collect yourself. You see on the website the same menu available at the table with descriptions and prices.

It reminded me if iran. I loved it.
A. M.
Food is good but the service waa bad. Impolite waiters. While laying the cutlery the waiter rested his leg on the chair on which we were going to sit. The salad they served was just raw leaves on stalk and whole spring onion stalks !!
S. S.
This place is always full and now I know why! Simple, delicious food! The lady that helped us recommended 2 amazing lamb dishes and an aubergine starter with pistachio bread, it was delicious!
Z. A.
Try the mixed grill and the Salad Olivia! Some of my favourite things on the menu and the home made nan is delicious too! When I was last there the veggie options were limited so keep that in mind
A. P.
Fantastic food, good prices and good service.
This was my first experience of Iranian food and I am very glad I was shown this place.
A. T.
Great Persian food and generous portions, too bad they don't always take phone reservations even when there are tables available. Quite a nice experience overall.

We have been travelling around London and sampling the best of Persian cuisine. The Mahdi Restaurant is a lovely place to visit if you have never eaten Persian food because it offers a buffet sou can you can sample a variety of stews and kebabs at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly but not over zealous as I expect Persian hospitality to be. Only drawback was that they took a while to refill certain foods and the bread!

I am a big fan of iranian food, and of all the restaurants I've visited this is by far my favourite. In fact at times I've visited 3times a week, even twice in one day. The service is impeccable as is the Iranian style, great manners, warm people and very hospitable.
The restaurant attracts a variety of people, families, young professionals, hungry students - ive been part of all these groups during my seven years in hammersmith.
But by far, what brings me back time and again is the food - Amazing portion sizes of the juiciest largest portions of meat. Every dish (ive tried them all) is delicately flavoured to suit all palettes
I have to go now - my quick recommendations are:
1) Kashke Bademjan for starter - with their delicious nan
2) Chelo kabab koobideh
3) chelo kabab joojeh
have fun!

It was recommended to us, good was good, but we ordered on dish and the chicken came frozen, I mean actual frozen i asked the waiter and he was shocked. They only appologised which i thought for such an embarrassment they could have tried harder.
A. I.
Lovely food, busy place over weekend. Bit expensive.
M.
The food is good but a bit expensive. I had combination chello kebab - kobideh was great, barg was ok, and rice could be better. Decor is amazing, a bit OTT but seems to work. Service is great. Well worth a visit.
M.
I've been there 3 times. Food is very decent. Very good sesame naans. Staff is very helpfull. It has a nice atmosphere.
C. F.
Fantastic quality/quantity for a very good price. We usually order the hummus with pita bread, the mixed grill and pistachio ice cream. Staff very kind and friendly
K. U.
First experience here was very good, simple tasty kebabs with rice. Very good lunch price.
Second experience ok - they didn't have the starter we wanted and we "had to pay cash"
M. F.
We had a very nice experience at this resturant.
The food is tasty and comes piping hot.
Staff are very welcoming.

Delicious, juicy tender meat. My favourite place to go with my family. I've tried many of their dishes but their kofte kebab definitely tops the list.

Best persian food in London. Very friendly and cordial staff. Tasty food with lovely ambience

Yummiest food and best grill they serve.

Mahdi is one of the most famous and known persian resturant in london. Beautiful design and suitable for families
Quality Food is what you would expect to get in a good persian /Iranian restgurant in london. Unfortunately parking close to resturant is not easy to find a part from Saturday Sundays. And MAILNLY as I TRY many persian resturant around london. This one is one of the expensive ones and I don't carry cash more than £50 with me all the time. Over tgghe past few weeks I was told machine is broken and they only accept cash which I had to go out for cashmachin while my guest were waiting.
B. G.
A fantastic place for large plates of grilled meats with spiced rice all at a great price. Be warned though, it gets busy at weekends. The decor is kept comfortable and cosy yet functional. I had the Chelov Kabab Barg which is a grilled skewer of lamb chops. A great place if you're seeking some grilled meats.
I. A.
really great taste, first time i tried and love their rice, properly cooked meat and good service as i done lunch there...will visit again with family..tea definitely worth to try. good service thank you.
K. H.
What a great place, lively, great service, wonderful surroundings and fantastic food. We had stuffed pepper and Aubergine to start and the mixed grill for 2, amazing flavours but make sure you are hungry, as the portions are massive!
R. L.
Best Iranian food in town. Only down side is that they don't serve alcohol. Fantastic choice of dishes and the bread is to die for.
A. A. S.
Delicious, fresh, authentic Iranian food. Friendly and welcoming staff.
A. B.
Was told this place is the best Iranian by many people, so maybe I had high expectations... I found service to be average, and food to be good. That's it... local Iranian food is as good.
S. S.
There is one of the best Persian restaurants in London.
However, the prices are a little bit higher than other Persian restaurants with the same quality,
H. A.
The meat is as delicious as always. I think the quality of rice has dropped. No saffron just colouring. But the biggest gripe is that the prices have risen considerably.
英.
Incredibly good restaurant, the food here feels like home, especially the lamb is very authentic, you can eat the most authentic Persian food without going to Iran, I always take my friends here, Everyone was impressed, I highly recommend this Iranian restaurant and told my friends countless times
S. D.
Food was wonderful and so was the service
L. H.
Excellent food with lot of variety from the Persian cuisine. Big portions and good service. Definitely a place you'd want to return to.
U. L.
Been going here for years, the food is tasty big, served up hot with love! Bring your appetite...
Great for value, casual and simple.
A. S.
It's one of the best Iranian cuisine you can get in West London I believe. Worth every penny you spent. JazakAllah Kher for the brothers who are serving there, appreciate your efforts and hard work in terms of food and hospitality.
D. L.
The food is excellent. Especially the Joojeh Kabab and bread straight out of the clay oven, however, they don't seem to offer friendly service to non-locals.
B. H.
Cool design, big portion reasonable price.
S. H.
Food is tasty with large portions. I could not finish my plate and took leftovers home. Staff are friendly. Been there before and be going to Mahdi again.
M. A.
First time I eat Iranian food and loved it. Very crowded however and you might need to wait for a vacancy if you come in rush hours.
S. M. J.
Mixed grill is amazing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good serving size. All in all a very good experience ended with nice tea.
M.
Amazing hospitality, generous portions. When I went to collect an order I made earlier. They served me sweet tea while I waited. You won't regret visiting here.
s. S.

Wonderful and delicious food. Even though the vegetarian selection is considerably smaller, it has some great and delicious dishes.
A must in London.

Best Persian restaurant in London with great staff and lovely service. They were our wedding caterers and everyone loved the food and still speak about it to this day.
A. M.
Food was nice ,i would give 7.5 out of 10 specially chalo kebab , saffron tea and pistachio baklava. Service was bit slow .
M. S.
Fantastic food. Great value for money. Never been disappointed and we are eating there about every two months if not more often.
R. R.
Lovely aubergine starters and amazing lamb stew with ocra. Generous portions, I found myself wishing I had a second stomach!

One of the best places in London for Iranian food. Really good service and friendly staff definitely recommend to go check it out. Family friendly really nice environment
A. K.
By far the best Iranian restaurant in London.
The BBQ tasted like heaven. The portions are huge, so careful when ordering.
D. T.
One of the best Persian restaurants in London, huge portion, delicious food, nice setting and service. Minus point: sometimes it is cash only.
m. a.
Top quality food (especially their skewers of mince meat) and friendly staff. I would highly recommend the mix grill.
H. A.
They don't accept cards payment anymore , bit inconvenient if you visit with large family. They asked to go and withdraw cash from outside.
Unfriendly staff
Apart from that the food quality and quantity is very good
M. R.
Perfect meat ( chicken, lamb, duck 😍), really tasty rice. Highly recommended to visit that place. Nice stuff! Thanks guys for very good dinner☺️

Well decorated Persian restaurant and Real Middle East environment!!! The food is delicious and the portions quite big for the price!!! Highly recommended👌👌
