Reviews of Masala Zone Camden Town
p. k.
This restaurant is close to Camden town and the food is not so great but ambiance is really good. We ordered the minimal food and we ended up paying 67 pounds and i felt its very very expensive. Also once we ordered the food they took almost 20+ min to deliver the food. I felt Waiting time is too high. Also we asked for the curry to be more spice however the curry was completely sweet, instead of making the curry spice they gave us the chopped green chills to add for the curry.

Beautiful place! The staff were super friendly. The Manager was amazing! He was very welcoming and genuinely kind and nice! The food was absolutely delicious! Only set back are the portion sizes but apart from that, I would definitely recommend this place! Will come back here with my family!

We were just some hungry tourists and stood suddenly in front of the restaurant. The service is incredible good. The Manager was so attentive! He helped us to choose the right Curry (he gave us a selection of the Currysorts). What a nice guy :) the waiters were very competent.
And the food... So delicious.
An absolute recommendation
Thank you very much

Love this place. Lamb sliders are super cute and tasty, they did remove these off the menu during covid, which sucked. I always go for their prawn curry with roti which is a delicious curry and my fave dish at the restaurant. Mango lassi is a good combination with my meal.

The food was very tasty with a unique flavor also the menu was varied , and the prices were good, but the thing I liked the most was the gulab jamun ginger ice cream

Food was great and came very quickly. The stuff we’re so friendly and really accommodating! The valentines special is just right and fills you up. Would recommend this place for everyone.

One of our favourite restaurant, my cousin and me are coming here for more than 6 years for every celebration and we still love it. Cosy place, delicious food and lovely staff. Highly recommend it.

Different take on traditional Indian cuisine. Interesting approach to samosa that was served in a modern fusion style and a new take on my all time favourite chicken Korma. The staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. They were willing to make recommendations and explain the different menue options. In my view some of the new take on traditional dishes work, but unless you are fully prepared, some of the flavours will take a little while to become accustom to.
The ambience was lively and the restaurant got increasingly busy, after all we went on a Friday night, so you will have to check for less busier times. In terms of price, some of the meals in my view were somewhat pricey, when compared to your local conventional Indian restaurant, but as an occasional treat and if you are willing to try something different, Masala Zone is a good option.
For me, I like something more traditional, hence the ratings. The traditional tali gives a feel of being in India. The food is well presented, very colourful and bursting with surprising flavours.
Would I recommend it? Yes, for those who are willing to try something new, but if you are expecting traditional Indian food, then perhaps this is not the place.

Quality food and lived up to the expectations. Table service can be improved but otherwise great experience

Great atmosphere and ambience. Food is presented lovely and taste was also really good. The small street food portions allows you to enjoy different items of the menu. Good selection of veg and non veg and the samosa chaat is a must have.

Our waitress was great, very knowledgeable about the ingredients and gave us thoughtful recommendations.
The food was beautifully presented and prepared with quality ingredients. We enjoyed all dishes and beverages.
The restaurant was too warm the day we visited. Given London's wonderfully moody weather atm - like summer one day and reverting to winter the next - it's no surprise but should have been better monitored.
Staff may have been distracted by the power issue in the kitchen which caused a delay with food service. This was handled professionally and the service charge was deducted from our bill before it was handed to us with sincere apologies. Could not have been better handled.
Toilets are downstairs, so not wheelchair accessible, but decorated with stunning red tiles and a traditional Indian textile print (so of course I had to take pics! Don't you think the way loos are decorated speaks to how a business sees its diners? Definitely guests at MZ).

A lovely place to enjoy some quality time with yr loved ones .
The service is awesome and quick.
Food -tasty ,yummy, delicious... Tried the Goan prawns curry it reminded us of the Goan flavours ...took us back to our home town ...the butter chicken,Dal everything I would say is simply awesome.
The ambiance is nice, lovely music.

First time at this restaurant and the ambiance is very welcoming and charming. The food was amazing and So many different dishes which we tried and all were very tasty. The service was the best part, the staff member named Celso was really good with the service he provided. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The starter was so delicious, it was unreal! Would love to go again and try more starters. They were also super nice to throw in a free dessert for my husbands birthday. The restaurant itself is also really nice interior wise.

Beautiful restaurant. Haven't dined there yet, but am planning to. Once I've tasted the food, I'll hopefully be able to give it the full 5 stars.

The food taste was average and less in quality and taste compared to the other Masala Zone branch in Covent Garden and many other Indian restaurants. The staff was polite but few and slow in service leading to delaying the acceptance of customers until a later time. The decoration of the restaurant though was excellent. The price doesn’t worth the food amount and taste and I will be very reluctant to visit again.

All delicious Indian food items you can think of are available and tastes great too... Beautiful ambience

The most authentic home-like food I’ve had at an Indian restaurant in London, so far. The chai and samosa chaat were also on point! One star less cause the butter chicken wasn’t great, and it’s a little over-priced.

Very nice atmosphere, food is really Indian and delicious... There is always space for desert, don't miss the Gulab Jamun with ice cream. Service is good, people are nice, but a little slow.

Lovely food with lots of choice on the menu. Friendly staff that make you feel welcome. Quick service. Highly Recommend Masala Zone for a family meal.

We were craving south Indian food one day and went on the hunt for dosa - this was the only local place! I would have preferred a plain huge dosa, but this masala dosa wasn't so bad. The filling was a bit strange, English-ified Indian food: full of peas & corn. Odd but still good. The sambar was great though.
HIGHLY recommend the golgappa for starters, it was delicious! So good. The chicken biryani was also moist and fantastic. Great gulab jamun topped it all off wonderfully.
Loses a star for the dosa & for being pricey.

We visited this branch too! Greeted with an inviting smell of curry, big bowl of fresh flowers and polite staff. Clean toilets and you can watch the chefs working. Service was fast and food delivered within 15 minutes. Ordered a variety of dishes and was pleasantly surprised with all the different tastes of herbs and spices. Each dish was full of flavour and different from the next. The portions were not big but you cant argue with such great value for the money, ca.8-9pounds for a chicken masala. My two teenage daughters enjoyed it and you can choose how spicy you like it, the waiters recommendations were spot on. Will be back!

Very good food indeed, all the staff were well informed and curtious. Can't wait to go there again.

✓ Vegetarian & Vegan Options
The wait at another restaurant we intended to eat at had an hour wait time, so we decided to eat at Masala Zone instead as my friend said their food is pretty good and they had vegan options.
The waiters were helpful and accommodated to our vegan needs as we both ordered the Vegetarian Thali – it was abundant! With a nice variety of curries, dahl, veg and chutney. It even came with rice and roti. I loved the variety we got, each side and the main curry were different and delicious! If memory serves me right, it was about £15? It was really value for money for the variety, portion and quality you get.
Overall, tasty, authentic and value for money Indian food at a contemporary atmosphere.
The place has a contemporary interior and upscale vibe to it. The table we sat at was really close to the neighbouring tables which made me a bit uncomfortable.

Great food, very friendly staff. I just wish the portions were larger as the food was so tasty!!

Hii this was my first time to visit masala zone. Very beautiful place to eat indian food it was busy as it was friday but the service and food was amazing specially the jalebie starters. Food was worthy for the price. I would love to visit again

Some of the food we order wasn't tasty and there was a plastic in one of our dishes. Nevertheless, the butter chicken was great, the personel very nice and the local was clean and beautiful.

Went there today! I love indian food and tried Masala zone first time. The food was good, I had butter chicken and vegetarian Thali. However, it felt to me that the staff didnt want to work at all. The waiters were all talking to each other and seemed to be annoyed when taking our order. Other than the service the food was good. Maybe should try Masala zone in other location!

Food was authentic and tasty. We were amazed to find this lovely restaurant in Camden,UK. Price on the high side but its worth it. Will definitely visit again if we go back.

A good place for sharing food.
Food is spicy so be aware to ask exactly "how spicy?"
Appetizers are good, I'd opt for the Samosas.
There are. Better Indian restaurants out there.
There are better places that serve Indian food put there.
Too much pomegranate.
Thats not a criticism. It's a fact.
Overal, I liked it.
I liked the food and decor and service.
Will maybe go again

Good ambience, and the food is cooked well and is tasty. The breads and daal makhani were excellent. The kofta curry was good too, though not the best I've had in London. The only issue is that, you may not get what you expect if you order something that is a bit non-standard. I ordered a ''paturi", something being offered temporarily, which is supposed to be a lightly flavoured Bengali dish made by steaming fish in a yellow spice paste of mustard, turmeric, poppy seeds, and coconut and steamed in banana leaves, but it turned out to be a completely different version of fish in a standard Punjabi/North Indian spice mix, wrapped in a small banana leaf (pictured).
However, the staff members were courteous enough to listen to the grievances, and stated that one may not always get an authentic dish in London, and the fact that the dish was not "paturi" was my personal opinion, to which I of course respectfully disagree. They did offer a discount for the fish and noted down my complaint, asking me about what I think it should have been like though, so kudos.
tl;dr : Good for standard Punjabised 'Indian' food. Might be a hit and miss for other nuanced versions of the various Indian cuisines. Might try again, though. I'd give about 3.5, btw, but can't on Google, and I follow the rounding rule of - round up for even+0.5 and round down for odd+0.5 numbers.

The interior is nice and the staff are friendly. The food portions are decent. The only problem is that the food really lacks flavour. I think if you are not used to eating indian food, it may be ok. However, most the vegan dishes lack spice and flavour. We tried the vegan thali and it was very bland.

Amazing place. Located centrally in camden, it has modern oriental decor, absolutely impeccable service, friendly staff and delicious Indian dishes. Tons of Indians are seen dining here too, which is a really positive sign for the restaurant. The prices are very reasonable. I recommend ordering a large thali plate : that way you will get to sample around 10 different things for £19 and walk away feeling full.

Ok food exorbitantly priced. Also took ages to come. The only good thing was the decor
