Reviews of Mayfair Lounge & Grill

Went for a wonderful dinner at the Mayfair. The headwaiter, Damien, was wonderful and made sure to make us feel right at home. He was quite attentive and made sure all of the guests were having a wonderful experience. Further, our waitress Gerda offered tremendous service and made of it a magnificent experience. Highly recommended stop if you are in London. Food was amazing, we both had the sand sole and truffle chips.
My friends birthday and Damien arranged a birthday cake to our table, was very special.

Went here for my 42 birthday. Honestly, the food was fantastic but the service made it a wonderful dinner. Damian, our waiter was very attentive, friendly and truly exceptional. What a great guy and an asset to this restaurant. The chips were banging by the way :-)

Had a great evening at the Mayfair Lounge and Grill on an unlimited prosecco package. The staff were amazing and very attentive, the prosecco was always available without asking. The food was fantastic such high quality. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Great experience.

Came to use up a voucher for the bottomless prosecco & lunch.
Food was very nice, didn't mind the small supplementary charges.
Our server Janete was absolutely lovely and super-efficient, a credit to your organisation!
Only downside was that we heard the chef rudely shouting at someone 'we're out of risotto, I told you before'. Teach the chef some damned manners and respect, for goodness sake!

Had a lovely bottemless prosecco afternoon tea, the waitresses were so accommodating and kept filling our glasses. The stand of sandwiches and cakes were ample enough for two people.. Will definitely visit again. Many thanks

Visited tonight for a 3 course meal for 2 with prosecco. Quite as it was a Monday night. The service was excellent - Gerda very friendly and attentive as was Kuba - you did a great job for your first day. The food was excellent too - nothing I would change about our evening. And a lovely touch was a little Happy Anniversary chocolate on our yummy desserts - thankyou Gerda for that. Certainly would go back again when visiting London.🙂

Amazing afternoon tea experience. Food was so selected carefully to pair with procesco. We were served by Amanda and Rosen which were so friendly and helpful. We will def come back

Afternoon tea: delicious and at a great price. The sandwiches were fresh, and the scones were warm and crumbly. Pastries/cakes were also wonderful esp. the red velvet. 65 pounds for two and includes endless prosseco - just fantastic!

The cavendish hotel Mayfair bar and lounge elegant unique. We popped in for a cocktail in the lounge was served by Amanda (the manageress) then went into the restaurant where we were greeted by gerda and Damien . Gerde sat us by the window, Damien attended to us explaining the menu and suggested an aperitif .
It was an enjoyable evening perfect service and food was amazing from the scallops sirloin side orders of green beans to the recommendation of the wine from burgundy from Damien.
We shall be back soon

We went for the three course set menu with unlimited prosecco via buyagift!
We started off with a gorgeous terrine, and artichoke soup with a single dumpling inside, which were both rather tasty.
We had the butternut squash risotto and the turkey Xmas dinner for mains - both ok but nothing out of this world.
The cheese and crackers after dinner were really tasty. The crackers had a great crisp and the cheese was lovely. The dessert was also lovely and it was a chocolate mousse paired with raspberry sorbet.
So, as mentioned earlier, the prosecco didn't stop flowing.. our server was absolutely lovely and took care of us well during the evening.
However, on the down side of things - there were a couple of large groups who were super loud in the restaurant due to the endless prosecco, and the decor was pretty dated. But, at that price, we didn't expect grandness. The staff did however recognise this was a bit of a nuisance and offered us other drinks for free which was kind.

Decent food and excellent service. This restaurant is located on the second floor insode the Cavendish hotel, on 81 Jermyn Street @ Saint James'. The Petrichor serves breakfast, lunch, aftetnoon tea and dinner. It also features a pre-theatre and à la carte menu, which is served daily from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. Outside the restaurant, you can find a bar and lounge by the same name.

Absolutely fantastic meal & service.
Can not thank Amanda for all her excellent service & knowledge. F0od was perfect highly recommend & will definitely go back again. Fantastic start to my 50th birthday week

It was my third Cavendish visit and the tea is getting a little worse each time. Let's talk about this one getting 3 stars though. Very disorganised - arrived to an empty restaurant and no one in sight. Yelled into kitchen and ran down to front desk before someone showed up, despite our reservation. Once they noticed us, service was prompt but cool. I like to feel pampered at afternoon tea. The actual tea was brought too early and was cold by the time food arrived. Sandwiches were lovely though and appreciated the grilled sandwich and the battered hake, something different. There was one small fruit scone, although mine had barely any fruit in it, and it was overbaked and tough. The little cakes were nice with one standout - the fudgiest brownie ever. They shouldn't bother with the cream filled chocolate shell though - waste of time! So despite points for the savoury selection and brownie, and the novel sewing box presentation for sweets, it has to be three stars. Good price though, at less than £30.

Really pleasantly surprised with Petrichor as I hadn’t heard anything about this place. We had a great dinner for a more than reasonable price. Excellent value for money! We all enjoyed our 3-course meal in pleasant surroundings. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly, our waitress Ludmila couldn’t have been any nicer. I didn’t get the name of her other colleague, sorry, but she was lovely too.

Lovely food and great service the lady was so funny and very attentative! Will definitely be going back again! @chaybix

We had the most delightful afternoon tea experience. Jurante server us and was absolutely fantastic.

This is my second visit to the recently re-named Mayfair Lounge and Grill Restaurant (previously Petrichor) at the Cavendish Hotel in Jermyn Street with my parents. The food and staff were all faultless. The reason for giving it a 4/5 and not 5/5 was due to how quiet it is there. The music was also rather odd (we thought it was a mobile tel that someone had left on a table!) and it was quite a 'functional' (as opposed to cosy) setting. Minor quibbles. The food didn't disappoint and the service was fantastic; I especially want to thank Amanda who made such an effort to make us feel welcome both before and during our visit. I thoroughly recommend it - and the location is rather lovely too. It sits right behind the famous Fortnum and Masons' Dept store and is close to all the West End shopping, theatres and bars/restaurants.

Absolutely fantastic meal & service. Can not thank Amanda for all her excellent service & knowledge. This restaurant is located on the second floor inside the Cavendish hotel, on 81 Jeremy Street @ Saint James'. The Psychometric serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It also features a pre-theatre and cart menu, which is served daily from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. Outside the restaurant, you can find a bar and lounge by the same name.

Went for afternoon tea with a couple of friends. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the quality of the sweet items. The scones had too much raising agent which was noticeable in the taste. The other sweet items were just okay and very simple. The service was friendly and generally good. However at times it was difficult catching the waitresses' attention, even though the restaurant only had a few customers. We could order teas and coffee which was appreciated.

The food warrants at least another half a star without a doubt, but the room could do with a bit of a lift, particularly the pub standard tables. Great presentation on the plate, styled like a top tasting menu thats equal of anywhere. Highlights were the scallop starters with finely shaved slices of curried cauliflower and absolutely perfect herb crusted loin of lamb mains. Well done chef!

We had an amazing 3-course birthday dinner with a bottle of Prosecco at The Cavendish London last night. The service was truly exceptional!! The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Thank you again to all the staff at Cavendish Hotel for making our night special.

Had a fabulous free flowing prosecco afternoon tea with a friend. I've done many free flowing deals and there occasions when you sit for long periods with an empty glass, but not here, it was truly flowing. The food was of excellent standard and the staff very friendly and attentive. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is that in terms of views of London, you're in the heart of St James, so all you're looking out on is other buildings/shops.

Found out about this restaurant through a Groupon deal (£29 for 3 course meal and wine for two!) and we really enjoyed it. Lovely food, atmosphere was great, and service was excellent. When I expressed that I wasn't too fond of the risotto I ordered, they immediately offered me an alternative dish, free of charge. Was very happy with the meal and we left with our tummies full and appetites satisfied.

Absolutely fantastic from the services to the food. Well done to all the team .
Excellent !

Absolutely brilliant, it was a birthday meal for my partner a night both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves xxx

Clearly affected by staff shortages, the menu was reduced and served in the bar. Food was however good, and staff very friendly.

I didn't know what to expect but had heard the food was very good. From the start the staff were exceptional introducing everything with their enthusiasm that was clear they had for working there. I had a collection of dishes and had certain flavours that were more of 'experiences' than just food. We all have our top 10 things in life, but the taste of their wagyu beef might just creep into my list!! After this experience I just had to meet the chef, and he was very happy to introduce and explain the flavours of my fav dishes. I will definitely be coming back again!!!!!!

I decided to grab Sunday breakfast here (apparently it cost extra for me as my room didn't include it!) while staying at the Cavendish. Service was great, very friendly. The waffle was also an extra with my meal, which I guess is the norm, but curious to me as an American. So a bit pricey, but atmosphere and food is good. Your typical continental breakfast. Coffee isn't very strong and I drank the whole pot, so that was new lol. Yet to be determined if watered down coffee is just a British thing, as this is my first time in London, but I haven't found a strong cup yet.

Excellent service, afternoon tea with free flow Prosecco, Prosecco was filled instantaneously and with a smile !!

We had a lovely meal, food was excellent, portions especially the veg could have been bigger. Service was very good, lovely atmosphere. We weren't rushed and spent 3 hours there. Well worth a visit for a special meal.

Went for afternoon tea. Fantastic food and service. It was truly free flowing prosecco! So much so you sometimes hope the staff don't notice your glass is near empty!

To sum it up - Fabulous. We dined at Petrichor last night and from the bubbles to begin to the desserts (and dessert wine!) the experience was top notch.
Upon arrival we were seated and menus presented, champagne was poured and a trio of butters with fresh baked (warm) breads offered to wet the appetite. I asked to try 2 wines (being indecisive!) there were poured promptly and allowed me to choose a lovely bottle to complement our menu choices. I can highly recommend to Baron Syrah, the wine menu is manageable and well chosen. Just enough variation.
Starters of Smoked duck and roast quail were both sublime. Served perfectly cooked and the presentation was stunning (this was a running theme). The slivers of duck with the poached egg won my vote - well seasoned and delicious.
Mains we opted for the Suffolk chicken which was served ballotine style stuffed with a truffle mix. Very well balanced as the truffle was not over powering and the subtle chicken flavours still came through. Not an easy feat! Irish beef was served medium rare (as ordered) and the knife slipped through the cut. Served on a bed of creamy mash - this is any meat lovers dream dish. Highly recommended.
We ordered sides of hand cut chips and steamed veg. The vegetables had to be sent back as it was overcooked, limp and luke warm. I'm not going to dwell on this as it did not effect my overall opinion of the quality and cooking we experienced. Everyone makes mistakes. It was removed, apologies made and we were not charged.
To finish the baked Alaska was well executed with a crisp meringue however the chocolate avalanche stole the show - I wont spoil the surprise but any chocoholic will die happy after this dish. Stunning!
Thank you to the staff and compliments to the chef - last night was one to remember.

The service wasn't the best having to wait to have our glasses filled etc but the food was great, well presented and tasty. I would recommend the 3 course set dinner menu (pre-theatre menu) all you're classics with a twist Throughly enjoyed and would recommned to anyone.

Great service and wine list very welcoming. Real French feel to the place. Will give nearby restaurants at higher price a run for their money. Recommended.
