We ate here last night and absolutely loved it. The whole experience felt deeply nostalgic, from the chutneys arriving in steel serving bowls with crisp poppadums, linen napkins shaped like bishop's hats, and mint chocolates brought with the bill at the end. The owner and staff were attentive and professional and made us feel right at home. I'm delighted that we found a solid Indian restaurant near us and can't wait to go back.

Really one of the best Indian restaurants in the world. Been going here for 20 years or so and they have never disappointed. Sometimes they rush you through a little but that is really just their style. Cant help but still loving this place.

This was my go to curry house in the mid-90’s when living in London. Took my colleagues while visiting in 2022 and it’s still a rock solid great curry. Food is excellent. Service is friendly and professional. Best peshwari naan in London. And always an interesting clientele.
O. H.
No frills. Impeccable service. Sensible prices. The chefs here make the finest curry you can eat. You won’t look back.

Best Indian in London. Friendly staff and delicious Indian food
R. B.
Best Indian food in London. Been dining here for years.
K. E.
Best butter chicken I’ve ever had! I always come here when in London.
Z. R.
Reliable and excellent Indian restaurant, dishes of consistent high quality, delivered over a number of years, friendly staff with a loyal following amongst South Kensington residents, with good reason. Charming classic dining room. Looking for a takeaway idea on a cold winter evening, this is the place.
M. N.
A good Tandoori with the usual suspects on the menu, normally fool and requires booking. South Ken price premium though

Collected food from here for the first time ever yesterday, the food blew me and my wife away! The staff was also so friendly upon our arrival for the pick up. Would recommend this to anyone!!!
J. S.
I have been going here for many years. I am yet to find a better Indian restaurant. Amazing food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Definitely worth a try!
E. N.
Wonderful and attentive staff and such delicious curries! My friend is a self professed lamb curry hater and she has been swayed to eat lamb again thanks to this wonderful restaurant. Would definitely eat at again when I’m back in London.

Best Bhuna and Dhansak I've ever tried! The first time I've fully cleared my plate! Totally recommend, not oily, not salty just tasty!
L. P.
great food and great staff. will be coming back
m. h.
such a good indian and firm favourite of my family! I wish there were more vegetarian/vegan options so I wouldn’t go if you’re a strict no meat eater. If you do eat meat then this is a lovely little indian with lots of options and well cooked food. my family is pakistani and this is our go to for curries so kinda a big deal 🤪 star dropped because sometimes it’s hard to get a table and service can be a bit slow

Fine food, strong in all the traditional Indian dishes, not overreaching into the high end of Indian dining. The staff are very pleasant, friendly and generally attentive, they tend to do best with groups of two to six, it's not ideal for larger groups (but they do cope). A firm local favourite definitely worth a trip.

We went to this place after running out of the Star of India next door. The staff nearly fell over themselves to make us welcome, and it was already hopping. No problem getting us in and serving us drinks and starters. Had a nice Goan fish curry and a nice lamb dish, subtly flavoured. They kept coming back with more and more rice. Puddings were superb. Good wine if a bit pricey. Endless coffee. They were very attentive to our comfort. Worth the trip.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere. The staff are great and always have a friendly vibe. Highly recommend a visit x

Really hit and miss - more from the service and front of house side than the food.
Been here a few times and food is generally good and fairly priced for London. However I've turned up before now only to be told I don't have a booking and when I've queried been treated quite dismissively - to the point where staff don't understand me (OK I'm a Brummie but my accent is not that bad)
R. A.
Food is delicious and staff are always friendly and welcoming! This restaurant has been in South Kensington for nearly 60 years and long may it continue.
B. M.
It's ok. For Indian food it was not as flavorful as I've tasted in other restaurants, but it was good. Portions were ok, service was good, ambiance was good. Walked in with a party of 3 at 6:30PM on a Sunday without a reservation no problem. Restaurant filled in quickly throughout the evening with apparent frequent diners.

A.local institution. So good you probably need to book to be assured.of a seat. Food is just how i love it with a fantastic mix of old school favorites and new things to try. Long may it continue

I've been a customer -they reminded me - for 35 years which is probably why we celebrated my birthday dinner there. As always the staff are on the ball and always friendly. The food has never changed from being excellent so there is always a good reason to go back and back and back

Came here for an early lunch. The food was not bad (and portion sizes are consistent with most other Indian restaurants), but it was lukewarm, which was odd since I was the first customer. The service was ok. The waiters talked to each other a lot, not quietly either. Average experience and not that memorable.
M. M.
I don’t EVER eat Indian food because I’m not educated enough. However last night my friends took me there and I had such a delicious, amazing meal with such a friendly staff. Next time I’m in London, we will return!
R. P.
A very cozy, unpretentious, friendly staff and a good atmosphere feel. All the food are reasonably priced and you get more than what you expected. All orders are in generous amount and can be shared by two people and so I suggest order a variety of dishes to share and you won’t regret it.
J. T.
Amazing food and even better service, highly recommend!
G. J.
My wife has fairly limited curry abilities due to ibs but they accommodated her really well. I also had a fantastic chicken jalfrazi really recommend this restaurant. Staff friendly good atmosphere nothing too much trouble. Would go back anytime.
E. S.
I like this place. Not too big, unpretentious and with a good atmosphere . The waiters were friendly and helpful on making good selections. The food is varied and not too oily or buttery - but you have to be forthcoming if you want it hot. Their curries were packed with the right balance of heat and sweetness. We had butter chicken, house special chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, rogan josh, garlic king prawn, and side of bhindi bhaji and red wine to cool down.
I’m not surprised at all why the Hollywood A-listers (Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and the rest) enjoy the food here, it was delicious and would surely cure your curry and tandoori cravings. Prices may be at the top-end than Brick Lane, but you don't need an A-list bank balance to enjoy a slap-up meal here.

Favourite Indian in London. Tucked away in a small street just off Old Brompton, perfect for a casual dinner. Staff is extremely welcoming and efficient, broad range of delicious Indian dishes at an affordable price, especially in this neighborhood.
R. M.
It’s more than a decade Carluccio’s blue & white sign is brighting up high streets (...and boosting house prices). Unfortunately this chain in general used to be a good place for decent value for money Italian food but quality and standards have deteriorated over the last few years and now it more and more resembles just another junk food option rather than down-scale but still decent food. At least for non-Italian diners.

Great experience, service and traditional Indian food . We had a delicate slightly spicy hot duck masala and chicken butter. Will eat again
M. J.
Good old school Indian cuisine, tasty and sometimes a little oily. The staff are generally friendly except for the old gentleman behind the bar who is actually quite rude.
S. _.
Delicious, we love the warming Butter chicken and fresh Saag paneer. The staff are friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.
E. R.
The food was good with a lot of flavour. It is a bit on the expensive side though regarding what you get. But overall a nice experience.
D. A.
Amazing Indian food with a very friendly staff but they don’t do delivery
C. G.
Staff is very nice and polite. The food is very good. One of the best I had. So glad I found this restaurant.

B. T.
Been living in the area over five years and this is by far the best Indian restaurant around. This is a great local gem!

Excellent service. Overpriced.
Food average. Beautiful layout
Needs a bit of background music. Too expensive for a normal family eatout
