Reviews of Ognisko Restaurant
A. H.
As a Pole living in London I am so impressed with this place. I can't believe I have only discovered it after 17 years of living here. Delicious food with a twist, like anchovies on the pork escalope or beetroot and chilli Martini. Quality Polish vodkas. Service very friendly. Thank you!
P. J.
Such a romantic restaurant! I truly love the atmosphere. Their food were all really scrumptious and hearty. I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes again.

Flawless! Wide range of options on the menu - the food is excellent. Fig and artichoke salad was light and exquisitely prepared - fantastic appetiser. Chicken tabaka was something new but was packed with flavour and a considerable portion size. Finally, the pavlova was nice to finish off the meal - sweet and Delicate. Service was great and for the large portions the prices were reasonable. Will definitely return!

My first time eating Polish food and it didn’t disappoint. The sea bream was excellent. Service was really good and the place has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.
P. C.
Excellent service! The waiter was super friendly, and we got a cute table in the terrace with a view to the park. It’s not on the cheap side, however the quality was superb. I bet this restaurant-club has many stories to tell.
S. W.
What a surprise this was! Beautiful interior, but even better food and service. Not fussy, super friendly despite the apparent grandeur and the food was delicious. I was so pleased to see things like veal and rabbit on there. Chicken livers were also a highlight! Fab wine choices as well!
T. C.
Easily one of the best Polish restaurants in London. They have a good range of vodkas (including home flavoured) - and I highly recommend the honey vodka at the end of the meal. Steak tartare is offered both un/mixed and the pelmeni and pierogi are perfect starters alongside a more herbal/aromatic vodka. The mains are well portioned, and good quality - and you shouldn't be leaving hungry.

Beautiful, historic place. Lots of events there, you can learn interesting facts about Polish history and culture. There's stylish bar there too were you can relax.
M. S.
Just beautiful! food, drinks, setting all perfect. I can't fault it.portions very generous, everything was perfectly cooked.it felt like fine dining for a really good price.I always thought I can cook traditional polish food very well, but today I realised how mistaken I was😀.we will be back when we are back in London for sure.strongly recommend potato pancakes with chicken liver and cherries, stake tartare and duck

We happened upon this place and were so glad we did! The food was delicious, the Hot Golden Autumn cocktails were perfectly made, and the servers were all friendly. I definitely want to come back to work my way through the menu.
K. K. W.
I had a salmon and it was delicious. Really well made, very soft and well cooked at the same time.
I.
Super delicious grilled cod, dessert, and wine. Situated in the busting south ken neighbourhood, right next to the Prince garden, this place is a hidden gem. If you are craving for polish food, do come by.
C. A.
Fantastic food and service, fine dining thats reasonably priced and actually fills you up.
My favourites are:
the chicken liver with sour cherry's on the potatoe pancake.
The smoked eel with potatoe salad
Mushroom dumplings
And the pork schnitzel which is huge and very tasty.
The lamb is also good.
I'd recommend trying a few starters/ small plates.
I must say this is definitely one of my favourite restaurants and it's been consistently good for many years.
The drinks menu is quite vast and the quality of the drinks served is also really good, I'd recommend having a couple cocktails, they're quit strong so bare that in mind!
N. S.
Amazing experience which went beyond the delicious food. The setting and building is beautiful, the staff friendly and efficient, and of course there is the delicious and authentic Polish food. We dined out on the terrace with tablecloths and candles. The inside was beautiful too though! It reminded me of upscale authentic restaurants in Warsaw. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommend the herring, steak tartare, and pancakes with duck livers. The desserts were delicious too!
M. S.
Our first visit yesterday (04/02/22) and it was great. Nice atmosphere, good service and tasty food. Good drinks menu too, Polish Martini was definitely a hit. Loved honey and walnut cake - not sickly-sweet, perfect balance of flavours. We will definitely come back!
K. B.
My favourite polish restaurant in London ! Just love this place and will be always coming back ! Never fail !
N. B.
Firstly, this restaurant is in a beautiful old building with some really interesting history, so that's what we enjoyed upon entering. Staff was friendly and attentive, and the Polish food just so yummy. Pricey but worth it. It's super close to some amazing museums, which make it such a great lunch stop, pre- or post-museum.
A. S.
Fantastic food in equally fantastic surroundings, with wonderfully friendly service. A special mention to the exceptional Eva, who was our primary server throughout the evening. HRH the late Duke of Kent spent his 80th birthday here in the company of The Queen. Buzz Aldrin has also enjoyed their hospitality - if you have the opportunity, I'd wholeheartedly recommend dining here.
Five Tyskies between us, and copious amounts of vodka shots - lemon, frozen honey, hazelnut, cherry, raspberry, blackberry, alongside complementry quince.
I'd never had lamb with lemon juice prior to this evening - would never have envisaged it, but it really went well. Lard on toast as a shared appetiser; black sausage pancake with apple and onions for a starter; rump of lamb with mashed potato, cabbage, and yoghurt dip for the main course; and honey and walnut cake with sour cream.
Polish food may not be as 'exciting' as Indian or Thai, but it is perfect comfort food, and sometimes that's all that's required.
M. M.
A huge WOW! My first visit and won't be my last. I was in the bar with 5 friends and sampled lots of vodkas with great suggestions from the lovely bar staff. We then went jnto the dining room where we had delicious food and several bottles of wine. When I was leaving I went over to thank the bar staff for a brilliant introduction to Polish vodka and they kindly gave us all a shot for the road. Great experience, great staff and i love the vodkas!!! Very reasonably priced too.
J. J.
Hands down among the handful of greatest martinis in all of London (and the only place that has successfully made a dirty vodka martini to this New Yorker's satisfaction!), and the housemsde flavored vodka selection is 2nd to none. The food is also always absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
j. r.
Possibly my favourite restaurant in London. The food is wholesome, interesting, and satisfying at a reasonable price, location considered. The restaurant is in an historic building just down the road from some of South Kensington's famous museums. Please try the flavoured vodkas (hot honey is our favourite). The staff and service is also excellent and always accommodating.
E. Á.
Amazing food with an amazing service. Good quality-price. I would highly recommend to go there. They offer a wide range of different options plus they also have vodka hazelnut which I found it was amazing!
H. K.
This place was so amazing, we had three appetizers including the dumplings with mushrooms 🍄 and chestnuts 🌰 (which were a dream), the kale and raisin salad and the steak tartar. I also had the chicken liver pancakes which were quite amazing also. Great ambiance and service and I loved the mocktails menu 👌
M.
Amazing tasting experience! It was my first time partaking in Polish cuisine and I was truly delighted.
Food was yummy, just full of taste and pleasant surprises. We had the koptika and pierogi dumplings for starters which were both mouth watering! We went for the half duck for mains as we were promised portions were large. Duck was tasty and beautifully cooked! I was surprised by the end of the dish that I had a bit of liver on my plate too! ( not something I usually like) I was surprised as I would order it again!
For dessert we went for cheese cake and an assortment of sorbet and vodka. Both just brilliant! I also opted for the polish coffee as I had to complete the experience! And I was jolly pleased by the end.
To accompany the meal we had a bottle of white wine. Our waiter Radek was very informative attentive and helpful! He answered all my curious queries with ease. He also helped us make a decision on our choices! Just brilliant service.
The restaurant has a great feel and immaculate decor. I will definitely be returning.
C. H.
What a place! Highly recommended! We went there few times for dinner (always delicious food and vodkas - especially Kafka) and we were the lucky ones to have our wedding there in September 2020.
We had the best day ever, everything went perfectly, atmosphere was fantastic, the venue looked stunning, the food was so delicious (chicken livers were announced the best dish people ever had), drinks were flowing including all flavours of vodka. Everyone was so impressed! We don’t have enough words to explain how grateful we are that we were able to do it despite the crazy timing!
Must visit - you won't be disappointed - staff is so friendly and very helpful, the venue is stunning and the main thing - FOOD is just wow!
C. C.
Great cocktails and very friendly staff! High quality food just like at Jan’s earlier restaurants Wodka and Baltic. Will definitely come back.
A. S.
The perfect restaurant - 1st class service, beautiful interior and the food was spot on. Definitely recommend a visit
F. G.
A great location, a beautiful building, and very helpful staff. Some classic cocktails and some interesting ones too: were they traditional Polish ones, no idea, but they liked and tasted great. The food was beautifully prepared and served, and each dish had a slight twist to it, that added to the experience. We six had a lovely evening.
T. W.
Been here twice and the venue and atmosphere is lovely, very elegant, great service and a good ambience. The food, I would say, was okay... but I'd definitely come here again for drinks and the odd appetizer. Just maybe not a real meal.
A. O.
Glorious food matching its beautiful surroundings and attentive staff. Booking ahead highly advised. Polish dishes, great selection of wine and nalewka (infused vodka)
M. K.
Absolutely incredible! We went for a Polish Christmas meal on the 23rd December and the whole night exceeded our expectations. We will be returning. 95% spiritus to clean hands, vodka for starts and a beautiful atmosphere and most importantly, delicious food. I could not have asked for more.
M. M.
London has so many amazing restaurants but Ognisko holds a special place in my heart. Not only the food is delicious (I am Polish and I know good Polish food) but the restaurant is beautiful. The dining room is so welcoming and elegant the bar area is also elegant and fun. They make amazing vodka martinis and trying a frozen carafe of their in house infused vodka is a must (my favourite are strawberry and cherry flavours). The staff is also amazing the manager Janek is so helpful and approachable, he always finds time to say hello. I simply can not fault this place. It is my absolute number one choice for restaurant in London. Food, drinks, ambiance and location - all perfection! Not to mention the interesting history of the place and the cultural aspects there is more to Ognisko than just a great restaurant.
J. J.
Very delicious experience. The best polish restaurant in London. Highly recommend
J. W.
beautiful setting and alive and buzzing atmosphere. my choice of menu a bit of a let down (salt beef) which reminded me of corned beef! That said the fact it was full of patrons cannot be ignored- it's clearly very popular.
T. R.
We’ve been here before and loved it but we went again recently for dinner and were amazed at how delicious the food is! We loved everything we had and the service was very nice. The ambiance is cozy and lovely as well. We can’t wait to come back!
B. B.
Most enjoyable. Slightly slow service but orders worked brilliantly. loved the food. Efficient and friendly staff. 5 stars.
D. W.
Had a really nice meal here with a large group. The food was all lovely and the staff extremely attentive and friendly. The toilets where an adventure to discover, down in the basement.
Recommended for a nice enjoyable meal with a great atmosphere and good selection of drinks from the bar.
R. K.
I love Polish cuisine so when I found this place on Google o booked a table, this was pretty easy and done within 5 minutes.
The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has a higher end sophisticated feel. Having turned up feeling underdressed we was seated and given a menu with a candle lit table.
The menu I belive changes with the time of year which I would love to try sometime.
As seen in the photos the food is well presented and to my pallet amazing.
You will be paying higher prices for the experience but it is well worth it.
The negative part.
We was seated in a corned and it felt like we was constantly forgotten about. Having waited upto 40mins to have our order taken.
N. S.
Hands down, one - if not the - most beautiful dining room in London.
Inside dining (see photo) + great terrace with a beautiful view, very calm and peaceful.
Excellent service.
Great food and wonderful menu.
Excellent house cocktails.
Z. D.
The most amazing polish authentic food. Nothing we ate wasn’t absolutely amazing. Service was exceptional. Restaurant was beautiful and fancy but atmosphere was relaxed and super family friendly. Will be back again very soon!

We go to Ognisko frequently before concerts. But this time was for a wedding reception. The staff at Ognisko are lovely usually but they were superb for this function. Ok, so half the wedding couple is Polish but that's not why. The setting is glorious, I particularly live the portrait of Rula Lenska. Anyway, the food was sumptuous and that is coming from one of the few vegetarians. I love the wild mushroom pierogi. The others had duck and it was disgustingly good, it looked wonderful but I cry inside for the duck population. Starters were excellent, desserts were too many and too enticing. So all in all, we were stuffed and spoiled. Most excellent. And the staff were still smiling and hospitable at midnight. Bless them.
L. G.
Amazing roast duck, michelin-star level. Wine selection also very decent, there are a few great value options in the fine wine section too.
I. O. (.
This place is so good. The atmosphere, the food, the service... also the queen visited it!!! I mean, what more can you ask? Oh, it is located in one of the most expensive parts of one of the most expensive cities in the world, but somehow manages to keep the prices reasonable! Staff is very attentive and will suggest tasty things if you are unfamiliar with Polish quisine. Very intriguing selection of distilled vodkas.
K. L.
Delicious food and cocktails. Really good value if you get the set menu too - hidden gem in an otherwise inspiring part of town for reasonably priced food
L. P.
Amazing evening in this restaurant! The food is tasty, the waiters are kind and professional and the place is lovely. Last but not least prices are not expensive. You must go
K. S.
Wonderful experience, beautiful atmosphere and excellent food at this beautiful Polish restaurant. Our waitress Ieva made the whole experience even more special by sharing the history of every dish. Not forgetting the abundance of vodka flavours. Can’t wait to go back.
M. D.
Exceptional dining experience. Bumped into this place at random while visiting London with my girlfriend, who is Polish. The food is phenomenal. I can't say I 3ver had better rabbit or duck. Just mind-blowing. And teg infused vodkas were such a nice surprise. Highly recommend. Amazing food for a fairly reasonable price.
V. C.
Currently my favourite lunch destination when I visit London. I am either lucky or make wise choices, but I have never had a bad meal - quite the reverse in fact - and the Polish dishes on offer make a refreshing change from High St staples. The service is good, but most of all friendly and cheerful. And I love the elegant space and atmosphere. In good weather the terrace is simply stunning - and all just a short walk from S Ken tube and museums. Not cheap, but not expensive either!
L. A. ,.
Amazing food! Loved the steak tartare the salt water marinated steak and the meringue. The meringue was incredible and for some reason it made me cry with joy. Must visit if going to Exhibition Road and great set menu.
A. “.
Went to Ognisko for lunch. The outdoor tables were very nice for summer time. Love the veal and pork dumplings. My sea bass filet was tasty. But my friend’s salmon dish was a bit dry and the pickled vegetables was a bit too acidic. Service was a bit slow and not attentive enough. We had to ask for water twice and had to chase for our main because it took quite a while for the dishes to be served.
We definitely prefer their sister restaurant, Baltic’s food and service a lot better.
J. Z.
Second time here, positive experience as always but the food this time round was a bit less exciting. Also we had to wait at least 30 minutes to get the order then another 30 mins between starters and mains. Aside from that the food is good and authentic, with a touch of ‘fancy’.
M. D.
We visited the restaurant on Easter, after having toured the Natural History Museum and heading to Kensington Gardens.Though the restaurant was crowded (and noisy - I guess many Polish families were having their Eater lunch at the premises), we were treated fine and our set menu arrived on time. Everything was delicious - from the traditional Polish soup to the desserts. A better option for lunch than many of the local pubs and restaurants we tried in a week's time.
l. p. r.
One of the best restaurants in London. Pity my pictures don't make justice to the quality of the food. Service is impeccable. Their vodka and cakes are to die for. Dziękujemy za wyjątkowe doświadczenie.
N. C.
Such a wonderful place to eat or visit for a drink. A real little gem, like a gentleman's club. Authentic Polish food (I am reliably informed) and delicious. Excellent happy service.
Superb choice of wines including one of my favourites Barolo
Can't wait to go back...
R. W.
Perfectly cooked Pelmeni (veal & pork dumplings smaller than pierogi), delicious Królik (cider-braised rabbit w/ sauerkraut & little dumplings), & chef Rambo’s hearty, to-die-for cheesecake, w/ a shot of restaurateur Jan’s very own Kavka vodka served warm so that it’s true quality can be tasted.
D. H. W.
We went only 1st time 3 weeks ago as we were around . very nice, very pretty. the service is excellent. I wish I have tried more polish food but we had very little time.
E. B.
Very fancy location and lovely little outside area for when the weather is good.
Was scared to go here at first because of the polish cuisine but my boyfriend whose from Poland convinced me and I wasn’t disappointed!
Had dumplings for my starter which were filled with pork and tasty! Then a chicken covered in tomato sauce and a delicious cheesecake for dessert.
Quite pricy but worth it for Central location and beautiful food
M. K.
Lovely food with a Polish twist (I can recommend the pierogi, the sea bass with salad and the desserts ), prompt service by polite staff. The cocktails are great.
The front has stairs so it's tricky to access with a wheelchair. There is a lift inside. The toilets are in the basement.
A. P. S.
Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Kensington. Service, food and drinks all top notch. Lovely outdoor seated terrace areas #cuerevue #ognisko #polishhearthclub
V. W.
I recently revisited Ognisko and was delighted to find that it is just as marvelous as ever. I had the Ukrainian Fishcakes with Pickled Cucumber, absolutely delightful. Thank you
B. B.
Delicious, genuine and freshly made Polish food right in the London city centre. Staff was very attending and polite. Portions are of good size and after having a soup and main I was quite full. Restaurant serves various wines as well number of beers of Polish origin. Highly recommended.
F. M.
The food and serving were nice however it was way too noisy, so noisy in fact that we decided to stay outside (even though the temperatures were not that high). Also, the portions could be a bit bigger. All in all, a solid 3 out of 5!
G. H.
Very good food in amazing building. Didn't even know there were restaurants here, was a recommendation from a Polish friend, glad we went.
T. L.
A nice place for dinner
I went here for dinner before attending an event nearby. Lovely place. The cherry vodka I had for the aperitif was excellent. I started with pirogi, best I've had in a long time. That was followed by blini and cured herring. Excellent. I also had a glass of red wine, but it was nearly corked. The espresso at the end was good. The service was prompt and courteous. It was a nice place that I will return to again.
P. S.
Ognisko never disappoints. The Polish waiters are the foundation of the atmosphere, always fun to talk to.
R. B.
Friendly and attentive staff, good food, quiet marquee out back overlooking a grassy square with trees, which is a nice place to sit on a sunny afternoon or evening. Lots of vodkas to try, some even before you've started your meal, if you're into that sort of thing.
T. N. (.
Great food in a nice setting with exemplary service.
Placki with Gravadlax was exemplary.
Excellent drinks list including long and short cocktails and of course an extensive range of Wodkas.
k. j.
I have had (at the bar) the most delightful christmasy cocktail there. The barman was kind enough to share the recipe!
S. L.
Amazing food - lovely experience having never had Polish food before, the staff were helpful and friendly. Beautiful setting.
V. N.
Very atmospheric venue with a sense of place and history. Delicious schnitzel too!
D. C.
Visited Ognisko on Friday evening and was simply blown away! The candlelit interior is cosy and food simply unbeatable for the price. A jewel that I'll definitely keep returning to.
M. N.
Very nice experience, my 10th, 11th time there. Food is very nice and they serve a good variety of foods. The interior was very moody and dark. Staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately not much for vegans but vegetarians will be ok.
They could invest in proper menus, paper seems very cheap and unprofessional. Please fix that!!!
Their house flavoured vodka was bomb 👍. Wine list is pretty poor have to be honest. Cocktails are great !
The apple dessert with vanilla Ice cream was made with actual quality ingredients and not some supermarket cake with cheap ice cream. Recommended
D. J.
Lovely food efficient staff only slight problem was a bit noisy and although candle light sets a nice Vibe hard to read menu in that light. Over all Top Banana 🍌
K. M.
Lovely place with an excellent service and great food. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back with family.
B. W.
Beautiful wedding venue in the heart of central London. A stones throw from Hyde Park. A photographers dream!!
J. G.
Elegant restaurant for a romantic date, affordable sets, tasty dishes, also for vegetarians
S. D.
My second time here and I was again delighted with the warming cosy food that was presented and cooked so beautifully. I shall be back for a 3rd visit soon.
Also the staff were very helpful in accommodating my allergies.
N. O.
Great expression of the food from the region, well cooked authentic and loved the home made vodka shots! Really good service, busy vibe so book ahead and great in the summer with the outdoor dining space
A. B.
Food for 2 people was just okay, and bill around £75. A window table request made over 2 weeks in advance and my request was not granted.
D. F.
Been a few times over the years. The food is getting worse unfortunately, it used to be of much better quality.
PLACE: The tables are squeezed one next to another stripping the guests from any intimacy whatsoever.
SERVICE: Some waiting staff seems to be a bit audacious - when I went in and said I had a reservation the waiter asked for my name and after checking the booking system he said “you start in 15 mins” and turned around... this did not sound like it should i.e. “your table will be ready in 15 mins”...there was no offer to sit at the bar for a drink before “we start” either. The waitress serving us was nice, polite and smiling but she unfortunately had no clue about the menu or what is being served.
WAITING TIME: We waited 20 mins to receive the menu and about the same time to receive the food. So overall there was 40 mins waiting time.
FOOD vs PRICE: The food is overpriced - this could potentially be justified because of the location, but it is seriously nothing special. Pierogi are like the “ready to eat” ones in a supermarket. Bliny with caviar were ok.
OTHER: in certain months they automatically add a small amount to your bill for charity. While this is a nice gesture and the amount is really small, they should still inform the guests beforehand - just out of respect and for the guests’ information.
A. M.
Food delicious until dessert, but do expect a tough long wait (over 30 minutes+) to be served food if you wish to eat with the government's scheme.
A. T.
Beautiful food in amazing setting. Polish food like I'd never seen it before. All the traditional dishes, but served with a slight twist by wonderful waiting staff. Can't wait to go back.
M. W.
My absolute favourite restaurant in London. A special occasion, a casual Thursday or a spontaneous drink - this place will never fail me. I visit as often as I can, the food is outstanding and the atmosphere just stunning. I especially love visiting during warm months when I'm able to dine on the terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens of South Kensington. A big fan (if not the biggest) of this place.
M. E. S.
New to me, I really enjoyed my first meal here. The gravadlax in particular was excellent, served with a latke, which was light and crispy, and a dressing that was zingy and well balanced. Counter intuitively, ended with a cocktail: a really delicious Polish Martini. Not cheap, but that's because it's very good, and in a lovely setting, and nice staff. Yes, recommend, beyond doubt.
J. A.
Ognisko is located just opposite the main entrance to Imperial College and is in a delightful building which you enter to a lovely hall and bar area.
The dining room is a picture of elegance but in the summer you can sit outside on the terrace overlooking Prince's Gardens sheltered under a delightful awning.
The rye bread and pickles to nibble before the meal are a delight and I could have eaten the rye bread all evening.
For my starter I had the pelmeni - delicate dumplings with pork and a lovely horseradish cream accompaniment.
My main course was salt beef which was totally delicious with very soft beef accompanied by potatoes and a fennel salad - beef perfection.
We tried a Macedonian wine which I'd never had before which was great.
It was a pity we were off to a prom as we'd have liked to linger, have another bottle of wine and perhaps try deserts but it just means we shall have to return and have a more leisurely dinner.
The service was efficient and friendly but 12.5% is added to the bill which at £20 for the 2 course set menu and £23 for the bottle of wine was excellent value.
A. S.
Beautiful Polish restaurant nearby natural history museum. Very good service, delicious food, nice atmosphere for affordable prices.
S. T.
Great Polish club where you can drink great polish beers , vodka and try our cuisine.
Highly recommended for anyone who would like taste a bit of Poland.
S. B.
What a find ! Hidden in plain sight in the heart of London. Great food reasonably priced means 5 stars
M. N.
Great food and friendly staff. Highly recommended
M. S.
Fantastic and beautiful place. The food is just exquisite. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to try out Polish food, prepared in a slightly more elegant way. On the top of that, they have a great selection of flavoured vodka and delicious meringue desserts
A. L.
Exquisite! Very nice service, fantastic presentation. Fresh mint leaves available all year round for mojito! Excellent atmosphere.
T. K.
Beautiful setting and friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious.
C. C.
Very nice restaurant few min walk to Imperial College and museums! The place is quiet with indoor and outdoor seats. Great service! The food choice is very good! I recommend the veal and pork dumplings.
H. H.
Delicious Polish food. Great place to go to, especially if you want to make discover this type of cuisine to people who might not be that familiar with it
J. U.
I Visited for a wedding function ie 'upstairs'. They delivered a very well managed event, very nicely prepared Polish cuisine. Very helpful and polite team.
A. B.
Great service before Prom at Royal Albert Hall.
Tasty well presented food. Wine list is good with no high end wines.
L. T.
Lovely restaurant. Beautiful setting and excellent food and service.
D. C.
Great food and service. Eating outside in the marquee is a nice bonus. Fearsome cocktail list. As good as Baltic
K. R.
A leaving bash to remember...
Walked in to a warm welcome by the chairman, (shared a drink or two), had some wonderful cocktails served by friendly and clearly knowledgable staff be for moving to tables for supper.
The menu isn't huge, but that's a good thing allowing each to be carefully thought through and served perfectly.
Mixed starters to share was a real treat, a little of everything! Oddly I chose the cheese, apparently the vegetarian option), goats cheese done to perfection. Dessert was a mixture of finger treats and tiny exquisit explosions of cream and punchy fruits.
The atmosphere was friendly, service superb.
A real treat in London to find a rare and truly sofisticated venue worthy of patronage.
J.
Great service, atmosphere and the food is very authentic and super delicious!
L. E.
We really enjoyed the food. It was great and the staff were very friendly!
P. M.
Nice service, good food, really enjoy interior design. What I like the most is voodka selection and that voodka is cold which is rare in London. Barszcz is fine but it comes with only one small croquet, Tatar was fine, and the lamb was really tasty. Downside are the small tables, and it's difficult to feel comfortable when sitting with 3 other people.

I knew before going that this was a Polish restaurant but I didn't know that it was in a very plush building.
The menu is excellent. So much to choose from. I was in my element trying all the Polish delicacies. I left full and happy.
Prices are expensive but very much worth it.
I will be back!
K. G.
Nice food. Good section. Vast vodka selection. Prompt and pleasant service. Romantic and classic design.

I can't get over how amazing this resturant is, I have have been here twice now and I cannot wait too visit this beautiful resturant again.
The food is 10/10 beautifully cooked and presented... Massive well done to the chefs and the waiters and waitresses who were professional, polite and always attend to any need you have, also going above and beyond to make sure you have the best service.
The last time I visited before leaving I was offered a polish shot of vodka, no charge, its little things like that that make a restaurant really stand out.
I'd reccomend this resturant too anyone and not place where it will break your bank account either 😊

Friendly service, delicious cocktails and fantastic food. Expensive, but worth it. Definitely worth a visit!
A. L.
Excellent superb food and service. The chicken livers dish is exquisite as is the snitzel. Kavka vodka is a must whether as aperitif or after dinner drink. I am lucky to live nearby so will be returning often.

Really lovely intimate restaurant for romantic dinner.

Having dined here before more than once, and I must say it's been too long since my last visit, I'm happy to say that once again they have met and exceeded expectations, the food (as always) was fantastic, my apologies for the photo but I was never going to wait!, mains, starters and desserts all excellent, I would go as far as to say phenomenally good, staff were wonderfully friendly, attentive and welcoming, if your ever around book a table.
A. N.
Elegant setting and delicious food at reasonable London prices, as usual. It is always a treat to come to this special place - delighted it is open again. Jan and his professional staff are helpful and friendly even at busy times. The chłodnik and the pierogi are scrumptious and delicate: difficult to choose from a wide variety of Polish dishes, new and trad cuisine, freshly made on the premises. Highly recommended this place for any occasion from a casual tete a tete with a friend to a fabulous celebration with 60 or more people. There is a lift for all to use inside the building and a lovely terrace to enjoy the views over the garden.
O. T.
The food was scrumptious, the service - attentive, and the space - gorgeous both inside and out. Instead of ordering mains, we opted for zakuski, different appetizers which were uniformly delicious. Special shout out to the peach and goat cheese salad, and chicken livers with sour cherries served on a potato pancake, but everything we tried was excellent too, including their homemade sour cherry and lemon nalivka (which they insisted on calling vodka, though it is no such thing, at much lower alcohol content, and much greater tasty factor). Save some room for the fabulous Pavlova if you see it on the desert menu!
J. M.
The lumb is very delicious.
Highly recommended.
The place feels premium. If you book in advance to eat in the garden, that would be perfect.
40minutes waiting is a bit too long.
I. F.
Excellent Polish food. Good for date night
A. B.
Had the most wonderful evening here. The staff are fab and food delicious.
M. B.
I was pleasantly surprised ...service was fast and what a great choice of food !! ...the bar offers amazing cocktails and wide selection of alcohol ...def recommend this place

As good as it gets when it comes to is food.
It was so good, I returned the second d evening g in a row.
They accepted me twice, late and with no reservation. It was highly appreciated.
I loved the food and the crew was very nice and polite.
J. F.
Food average. I truly expected more reading from previous reviews and coming from ex soviet block. Ambience very pleasant and could not fault staff.
E. R. H.
Always a delightful experience - staff are so friendly yet professional, the food is delicious and the surroundings are glorious. Can't wait to return.
T. K.
Attend a wedding reception here and it is a great venue for it. The room upstairs was a nice space with balconies at either end.
A. B.
Excellent food and service. Would certainly recommend.
R. W.
Great food, relaxed atmosphere, good value for money, very friendly staff
A. Q.
Fantastic quality Polish near the V&A museum. Affordable meal, premium decor and service.
A. K.
Good food (especially for carnivores) and friendly service. Outside terrace is cold 🥶 though...
R. S.
Main restaurant or outside covered with heating, good affordable food, good service, bit crowded at 1pm, Albert Hall diners.
r.
Yummy yummy food at reasonable prices. Interesting vodkas - not cheap but not ghastly priced
A. C. G.
Can't recommend this place enough. Beautiful venue, outrageously good food and service to match it. The stuffed duck was one of the best I've eaten anywhere.
A. E. B.
Incredible food. Staff were so welcoming and friendly.
K. Y.
Very good posh Polish food but at pretty affordable prices. Vodka here is so smooth.
M. S.
My husband and I had a celebration dinner here and we could not speak highly enough of the experience we had. We found Jasiu to be accommodating to all our wishes and professional in all our dealings with him. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and many of our group commented on what a great time they had. We will be back many times in the future as they always provide an excellent service!
e. p.
It was amazing experience, really tasty food, nice atmosphere, good service, recommended
P. W.
Great location super friendly service and good food.
M. A.
Big fan of Ognisko. So far every dish we've ordered /, in our 3 visits, has been superb. The wine, often from regions we wouldn't ordinarily order wine from, has always been great. Service is polite and attentive. I don't have any reason to mark them down.
S. N.
I like teh food. And I recommend the smoke salmon BLINIS, they are sooooo good! Reminds me of my motherland Russia
E. H.
Charming summer terrace on the gardens. Central European food of very high quality. Excellent drinks. Friendly service.
P. N.
Great food and atmosphere, recommended!
P. O.
Brilliant! Loved the building, the bar, the food is delicious and huge! Staff was really nice making the visit well worth it! Would definitely come back.
P. Y.
It’s dfinitely a lovely place to go. The apple pine and plum vodka were nice.
A.
I was presently surprised by this Polish restaurant (and proud). Went with my Irish friend who never tasted polish specialities and it was a perfect evening. The dishes were absolutely delicious and brought me back to my mama’s cooking:) Very attentive staff. The whole place has a such a great vibe. Well done!
J. P.
Fantastic venue with great food and bar. Highly recommended.
D. Z.
Amazing food. Perfect restaurant for Christmas dinner!!
J. S.
Phenomenal food and location, but service was a little slow.
T. V.
Superb location, great service, good food - even for a vegetarian.
D. G.
Great food with a difference. Lovely location with an outdoor terrace. Nice staff.
M. M.
The food was impeccable!! Chapeaux-bas 👏
S.
Lovely find. We needed a place short notice to host a family meal after the museums. Got the recommendation from a friend at imperial and couldn't have been more pleased. Staff were friendly and attentive, the food was great. I have no idea how authentic or not it was, but I couldn't fault it from starter to dessert. Not to mention three courses and wine for £40 a head in central london. The only downside is I may now be addicted to hazelnut vodka.Thank you.
S. M.
Beautiful and well run restaurant. Tasty food, impeccable service, wonderful ambiance. Will be back!
H. H.
We have spent a perfect evening there. Food was delicious, tasty cocktails and good service. We will definitely come back.
J. S.
Great to go there again. Ognisko was as good as ever, great service and great food in a smart setting. Always consistently good
J.
We were greeted with a really funny hand sanitizer :D hopefully it works :) our coats were taken by a lovely lady and we didnt have to keep them on top of our seats which made the visit more comfortable.
The service was very warm, the kitchen provided food slightly early which was very nice. The food was not overpriced, I had a starter and a main for under £20. As you can see in the picture - the presentation of the food was great, also, nothing was overcooked or undercooked. We were asked a few times if we need anything, also, given the options. Overall, great experience, would visit again 😊
M. J. K.
Lovely food & super friendly staff. However, those who seek for a taste of traditional Polish food may be slightly disappointed. Good quality although, not always very Polish. Yet still, place worth recommending.
J. T.
Keep you expectations controlled. Albeit, you're on Exhibition road, you'll be surprised with the interior, staff service and also the taste of the wonderful food. We booked a group function and they really did cater for the size and the portions : value, was just right. Recommended as a lunch after visiting the great museums around.
E. T.
Me and my son casually discover this very elegant restaurant, just in front of the main entrance of Imperial College.
Didn’t immediately realized that it was a polish one, but once inside, looking at quite customers and extremely professional and gentle waitresses, was so glad we could have eaten some speciality of one of best and fast growing country in Eastern Europe !
The main courses were really delicious, and the smoked salmon with a sort of warm small pancakes was absolutely 😋😋😋!
Gran finale with their great vodka FIGA 🤩😍🤩
Price around 60£, including an 1/2lt polish 🍺.
Recommended also for a romantic dinner 💞💗💘, but don’t forget the FIGA as dessert 😜
C. W.
A very smart restaurant serving good polish fayre
B. K.
Excellent service- yummy goof and a free leaving shot was amazing! Will defo return!
W. F.
Great food and super value. Delicious staff.
K. P.
Love that place, food , atmosphere and cocktails are just wonderful!
J. A.
Ognisko is located just opposite the main entrance to Imperial College and is in a delightful building which you enter to a lovely hall and bar area. …
M. B.
I was pleasantly surprised ...service was fast and what a great choice of food !! ...the bar offers amazing cocktails and wide selection of alcohol ...def recommend this place
M. N.
Very nice experience, my 10th, 11th time there. Food is very nice and they serve a good variety of foods. The interior was very moody and dark. Staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately not much for vegans but vegetarians will be ok. …
N. F.
Gorgeous food in a beautiful setting.
A. S.
Lovely polish and not only food!!
D. G.
Only went for drinks, but was great.
Service was excellent and we were well looked after and it is comfortable and a lovely place.
M. W.
Food was unreal
A. L.
Excellent superb food and service. The chicken livers dish is exquisite as is the snitzel. Kavka vodka is a must whether as aperitif or after dinner drink. I am lucky to live nearby so will be returning often.
L. W.
Excellent food. Terrible service.
B. B.
Food and wine excellent. We has the set lunch plus the house wine which was very good.
K. K.
Wonderful elegant ambience, why can't all restaurants get it right like this ? Candles & warm low level lighting, but still easy to see food & menu. Lovely food, very filling with proper sized portions. Great vodka choices. Our 3rd visit. Highly recommended
A.
Had a lovely dinner here with family. The different pancakes and dumplings are absolutely delicious, and the wine is very reasonably priced. For the location and the quality of the food, this restaurant is also excellent value for money. The site was initially set up to cater to expatriate polish people living in London, and you can tell by the clientele that the restaurant continues to be popular with them - which must be an indication for the quality of the food ordered
P. K.
Reasonable prices for the area. Good quality wines. I had the fish stew, the taste was excellent and the proportions were filling. My wife ordered a main-dish built around pickled herring from the pre-theater menu, and we agreed it was very well prepared too. I would definitely trust them seafood now. I suspect the meats are good, too. They appeared to have a great selection of vodka. The service was attentive and polite.
J. V.
This is a GENUINE Polish restaurant. No compromises, honest and very tasty food. Nice portions, authentic taste. We were pleasantly surprised to get and tasteful, real polish food that wasn't tuned to the local population and portions that were polish gain, so filing and with food that wasn't tuned. I know I'm repeating myself but that is because it was such a pleasant experience. Our 8 and 13 year old are everything on their late. We were contemplating ordering a second plate each, not because we had had too little food but because it was so I spiring and genuine but above all so honest and real.
P. I. B.
Beautiful, classy place, but food was very disappointing and poor value, especially compared with Daguise just down the road.
M. W.
Wonderful experience - visited with a group and tasted multiple options from the menu, all very tasty, an upscale version of the typical Polish cuisine. Shout out to the staff - very polite and accommodating. Will be back!
T. W.
They forgot half of our order, and food was OK but not really worth the price. At least it looks fancy I guess.
S. C.
beautiful interior and an outside terrace overlooking gardens for warm weather. contemporary Polish menu. blinis fabulous, main course of duck confit not great (maybe better to stick to the Polish classics). but the service was really excellent, and the ambience lovely, will definitely go back and try something else...
M. C.
I had chance to visit this place on Friday! That was my first and not last time!
*Absolutely amazing venue! Big point will be for atmosphere It’s a very nice and quite environment. You can feel that you are relaxed and you can enjoy your meal without guests loud conversations or the blinking of glasses which is very good for date👍🏻
*Also Food was absolutely great! Very, very tasty!
* And Of course I need to mention staff which was very friendly and professional! 10/10!
Keep going guys! That was pleasure to spend money in such a lovely place❤️
B.
Such a shame! I never knew about it! For such a long time! It looks like hidden gem to me. Who knows if this is not the best Polish restaurant in London!? Well at least is very close..!!
It was really great atmosphere, food, in my opinion, was really good and I was expecting higher prices!! However, there is room for improvement with service, nothing major but could be better, more friendly and optimistic! Location is just great, nice little park at the back, access to the balcony (overlooking Exhibition Rr.) What else to ask?? I don't know! ;-)
T. L.
Great polish food with a modern twist and some some fusion with other cuisines. In the pictures it may seem very upscale and formal and this is mostly due to very elegant interiors but in fact the vibe is more relaxed than it seems and it is also a perfect place for a casual lunch or just a drink.
Very good and swift service too.
D. M.
Welcoming Polish restaurant, part of a members club but not at all exclusive. The dining room has a touch of glamour with its original plaster mouldings, white table cloths and waiters in bow ties. We went for the set menu. The sea trout wasn't available but the waiter was able to suggest a seared salmon that wasn't on the menu as an alternative. All courses were well presented and service was friendly even if it wasn't very fast. There was a nice balance at lunchtime between it feeling like an occasion (we visited for a birthday) and a relaxed atmosphere when our 10-week old baby was a bit tearful. This isn't a kids restaurant but if you have reasonably well behaved children with varied tastes they'll probably be welcome at lunchtime. We left happy with full bellies. Total bill for one two course set, one three course set, two sides and two drinks came to £63 with service.
B. K.
posh polish restaurant with conceited waiters. Feels like they have been instructed to be that way and some seem to be acting, which occasionally appears funny. The food is good but the tables are cramped. There is barely space for 4 at their table for 4. The liver was really good and tender. Not for tourists but good for fat cats and wannabes.
A. S.
Stunning Polish food, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service. All the feel and quality of a members club, without the prices or upward turned noses. Everything is made fresh - the blinis and perogi are really great, but having been twice now I can safely say there isn't anything I wouldn't order on the menu. Don't miss the awesome flavoured vodka selection!
E. S.
Excellent food, well priced deals in off-hours and friendly staff.
There's a huge variety of dishes, from the polish kitchen...
Some dishes are much smaller than the other ones (like the salmon) - but otherwise, it's a highly recommended place to eat in.
A. P.
A charming restaurant in a beautiful old terraced building that feels as 'Kensington' as possible! The interior feels quite elegant, but not overpriced for what it is. It has done wonders to reinvent polish food as modern, tasty and fresh - not words I usually associate with the polish dishes I had previously tried. The salads are great, awesome beetroot soup, nice fish and meat dishes. There's an extensive wine list, but it's a polish restaurant, so definitely try some of the Polish vodka on offer!
S. P.
We had a fabulous function there!
The food was fabulous! Jan and Alex helped us so well with the prep and planning. Alex was brilliantly patient and understanding and the waiting staff were extremely polite. Thanks so much!
J. W.
Fabulous place great staff wonderful service and food. We are so delighted to be having our wedding there next year
D. F.
Unbelieveable food and atmosphere. I was amazed by the whole event I attended few weeks ago. I'll be back.
P. S.
This place is immense. The building and room is beautiful, a real feeling of another time, but without being dated. The staff are really friendly and very attentive, from the waiters down to the cooks. This is reflected in the crowd, which is a mix of families, couples, old, young, loud, quiet, smart and casual. Everyone feels welcome. The food is superb and the vodka is even better. Chicken livers and eel are a must. Polish food is ACE!
C. G.
The place is beautiful and service was lovely.
It loses 2 stars because my husband called ro ask if there were vegan/gluten free options and they said yes, but there weren't.
There was only one starter salad (very good) and a side of boiled vegetables.
H. H.
Great food, especially the mushroom and chestnut dumplings, chicken liver starter and great desserts! Highly recommended to sit in the outside terrace overlooking the small square in twilight.
A. A.
I came for a three course meal and was not disappointed. My food was incredible and I had quite possibly the best cheesecake I have ever tried so far. The restaurant is steeped in history which gives the restaurant a really nice atmosphere and feel. My only negative feedback is that it's quite a cramped space.
P. O.
Spectacular food, vodka, and service. Stunningly affordable for how nice the place feels. Wonderful date night place. Make sure to try their special, house-made vodka! As the servers will tell you, "no hangover"!
J. P.
I always enjoy a visit to Ognisko.
It is a beautiful restaurant and the food is delicious. This time (Sunday 19th January) there were 2 large groups in the dining room. It so noisy that meaningful conversation with my guest was impossible. I know this is unavoidable so next time I will go for lunch during the week when it is usually quieter.
P. S.
Ognisko is a splendid showcase for Polish cuisine. The building has a real feel of history and grandeur without feeling stuffy. The service is professional and welcoming. The food is truly excellent with the blood sausage pancakes and oscypek smoked cheese standing out as highlights. Every bit as good as top Warsaw restaurants. We will definitely return.
J. C.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Oh...and vodka.
M. H.
Great atmosphere and ambiance. Food is great (Pierogi etc) but mains miss the mark a bit. Braised rabbit does not fall off the bone and is served on the bone whole leg, difficult to carve off and eat. Close to great but not quite.
a. v.
you cannot think of a better representation for polish cooking than this place. oh my gosh, it was delicious. the garlic mushrooms, the best I've ever had! and they are friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. Really, a very nice experience.
N. B.
One of most beautiful dining rooms in London with a lovely terrace. The bar is open for non-diners and is a great meeting point for the Albert Hall. Fantastic range of flavoured vodkas.
The menu is authentic Polish but with a modern touch.
R. V.
Lovely place for an after-prom drink and relax. Polish club, welcomes anyone. Had cocktails and polish dumplings. Great service with a smile. Highly recommended.
M. E.
Been coming here for a few years and this place has never let me down. Great caviar, ice cold vodka and excellent perogi, perfect! Service is always good too.
R. W.
Beautiful old building with lots of history. The food is classical Polish cuisine and very nicely done it is. Huge vodka selection didnt have wine. Staff are good, helpful amd attentitive.
S. H.
Good Polish cuisine, with amazing service and great delicacies with vegetarian and gluten free options. Some of the simplest dishes on the menu are of great value, e.g. potato pancakes.
Beautiful interiors with a history. Right in the center of London.
D. S.
Brilliant. Great staff, delicious food and lovely building. Also this is Polish food and the food feels healthy - probably good for your gut bacteria! Prices reasonable but the pre-theatre menu (think it was pre-7:30pm) looked like a bargain.
K. K.
The food was ok although I expected a slightly more authentic Polish experience. The decor is very generic and there is no Eastern European ambiance in the place at all. No actual complaints but I did hope for a friendlier experience, instead they were focusing on fine dining.
C. O.
Really delicious and nice staff - note that portion sizes are huge - suggest to split or share a main!
D. G.
Only went for drinks, but was great.
Service was excellent and we were well looked after and it is comfortable and a lovely place.
M. W.
I LOVE Ognisko. A group us go every Friday 13th as a catch up and the menu is always a treat, the staff welcoming and the range of vodka...., well!! With its Polish Raf pilot history, this venue has a lovely 'private club' atmosphere without the membership
R. C.
One of London's better kept secrets. A lovely room with high ceilings and attractive features, good and seemingly authentic, food at fair prices and excellent drinks - especially, as might be expected, an outstanding range flavoured vodkas. It also has a particularly nice outside area at the back, which makes it much the best choice I've found for a meal before a Prom, especially as it has a good-value pre-concert menu.
L. K.
Elegant Polish restaurant near Kensington Park's Princess Gate, truly different and delightful. You don't have to be Polish to love Ognisko. The bar is a great place to sample the amazing cocktail selection and take in one of the most interesting scenes in London. You absolutely need reservations for dinner. If the weather is fine, you can sit outdoors in back under an awning with a lovely view.
K. O.
Found this place completely by accident. My wife is Polish so we thought we'd try the cuisine here. Amazing food and even better vodka! Very reasonably priced too. There were 4 of us and we all had mains, desserts and plenty of alcohol and it was around £45 each. Pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be going back here again.
O. N.
This is a very nice little restaurant south of Hyde Park. One of its main attractions is that it is a Polish restaurant serving Polish food, and where else do you find Polish food in the center of London? Polish food is quite unusual so here we go. And that food is deliciously served, impecabble dish presentation taking care of every detail. Service is excellent, the place is cozy with great interior. Highly recommended!
E. K.
Amaizing atmosphere nice wine and delicious dessert 😋
K. W.
Nice venue, a little old fashioned but has good ambience. Staff were very polite. The rabbit was tasty but quite greasy. Chicken was a bit overcooked. The menu wasn't up to date and a lot of the things we were hoping to try weren't available. Overall the food wasn't quite what we hoped for at this price point Great starters though!
L.
Food was nicely prepared and tasty, delicious coffee and cheesecake,
Recommended
Ö. Ö.
The food was very tasty - I had the fried dumplings with wild mushroom and chestnut sauce as a starter and veal schnitzel with fried eggs and anchovies as main. Staff are lovely, very helpful with big smiles. It was also nice sitting outside next to a quiet park. Will definitely be going back.
M. H.
Took my family here after visiting the science museum. The food was amazing. I definitely recommend the smoked salmon and potato pancakes. I wish we had a great Polish restaurant like this back in Orlando, FL...
D. R.
An excellent menu, superbly cooked and served, in a lovely Regency setting, with outdoor seating available. An exemplary advertisement for high quality Polish food, Ognisko also offers a good range of wines, vodkas and beer. Recommended.
M. C.
Excellent delicious hearty meal, fully recommended.
O. D.
Excellent restaurant near London's major museums and Hyde Park. This is a good place to try different Polish dishes.
We visited it on Easter, although there were many people, the service was perfect, and the food was excellent.
I especially recommend soup and fish dishes.
E. B.
Ognisko What a fabulous restaurant and such a wonderful experience. of Polish food the service was excellent , and the place was buzzing Great bar with fabulous choice of vodkas cocktails and wines and spirits and Oh my gosh the food very tasty the portions are very generous Great bar with fabulous choice of vodkas cocktails and wines and spirits. and the vodkas shots were amazing I have to say this is now One of my favourite restaurants!
M. J.
An imposing entrance leads onto a small bar. There is a good choice of drinks especially vodka. There is also a good range of Polish beers which extend past the usual suspects.
The restaurant is off the bar. The food is very much Polish orientated. Very tasty food served by friendly and efficient staff.
If the weather is good, try to get a seat outside so that you can enjoy the view over the square that backs onto this place.
S. C.
Did the pre theatre 2 courses deal. Lovely setting and service good. The goulash was clearly warmed up in the microwave and needed more heat and but Kiev was delicious. South Kensington doesn't have much good food options so would come again
D. W.
The food is lovely but the portions are small. More like a taster. We celebrated the anniversary with my partner so they prepared “Happy anniversary” shots of flavoured vodka.
J. R.
Lovely Eastern European food and drink in a nice place.
G. G.
Had a lovely meal here, before a show at the Royal Albert Hall. Staff were friendly, food was excellent, service was quick, and best of all they made an effort to make a nice atmosphere.
Would recommend to anyone who asked. The Salted Beef was particularly brilliant.
M. S.
Big plus for staff (perfect timing and very professional like in the Michelin star restaurant - attentive but descrete). I really like the interior and atmosphere. The downside in my opinion is the food actually - it is not bad don’t get me wrong but if you dine often you spot a few issues - dumpling dough was a bit chewy and the filling was on the dry side. Tartare meat should be more minced (personal opinion) and I felt like there should be more egg and bread to be served with. Kopytka was really nice but the mushroom sauce was thick (too much cream) it felt on the heavy side - I could not finish it. Overall good and I will bring friends and family there again but food refinement would elevate the standard.
E. D.
We had Xmas dinner. The staff were looking after 50 of us so well. Recommend it. If you have ordered sour cabbage wait few minutes so the meat soaks the. Juices it seemed they Cooked them separately
B. C.
A surprise location and inside was very pleasant with a nice outside eating area. A Polish themed menu was very interesting, but staff had a bit of a blind spot when trying to get the bill. Would go again if opportunity arises.
J. L.
Schnitzel is great. Steak tartar and other appetizers are all pretty much a win. Large cocktail list and authentic polish fare in a setting that feels like a rich uncle's mansion in a ridiculous location. Especially great for pairing with post museum visit or pre Albert Hall gigs - both just minutes away. Flavored vodkas are a great finisher.
S. K.
Polish club, opened just after World War II. Full of history. Very good restaurant open to non members. Great for a drink or more formal meal after a visit to the Museums or prior to a night out at the Royal Albert Hall.
d. c.
Amazing staff great cocktails
M. A.
Very busy when we visited on a Saturday evening. I ate salmon and cucumber which was delicious. The ladies had duck leg which was nice but a bit dry. Be careful of the flavoured vodka. It tastes like fruit juice but packs a punch.
J. G.
My girlfriend is Polish (and a bloody good cook) and she was in awe of the food on offer here. Great food and drink that is hard to source in the UK. Would recommend but can take a while for food to arrive.
E. C.
A great, refined place to relax away from the crowds of muesum visitors of South Kensington. This is a wonderful place to come if you appreciate high quality Polish food and drink. An impressive collection of Polish vodkas, wines and beers served in a relaxed setting which has played host to royalty. Highly recommended place to escape and unwind.
M. M.
Our experience at Ognisko was very pleasurable. I would recommend it for either a romantic "just the two of us" meal or a group booking with family and/or friends.
The building is spectacular and decor is very nice although we weren't too impressed by the dry roses wall decor (how is it being dusted... if ever?) The ladies who served us were very attentive but not too "in your face". I am not a fan of the ones who disturb your meal by constantly checking "is everything ok? Is your food ok?" So nothing like that here which is great! The food was good but it didn't WOW us that much. Perhaps next time when we try pierogi it might (we saw them served to another table and they looked very appetizing). Barszcz was very tasty but the "pasztecik" which came with it was tiny (literally!) and it wasn't your traditional Polish pasztecik. The dough used was the French one and it didn't work for me at all as it was too dry and disintegrated from the filling inside. The blinis we had were tasty and I must admit the smoked salmon was of great quality, very nice! Then the kopytka with the mushroom sauce were nice but far too cold for my liking. Also more sauce would have been nice. The desserts were very tasty and were probably the best thing from the whole meal. Another nice gesture was the "czekadelko" some 4 slices of bread (very tasty, perhaps home baked?), some butter, pickled gherkins and...beetroot with horseradish (ćwikła) and that was weird. One would expect either a bit of lard or a vegetarian option of some sort of paste or veggie paté. Eating bread with ćwikła was weird. I know it was just a little something while waiting for the dishes to come out but I would have liked more butter, more of these tasty gherkins. That would have been nice! Prices a bit on the higher side but one can expect that in a place with white table cloths and in such prime location.
Overall a nice experience in a beautiful setting. I would just make sure the dishes served are warmer and some more options with the bread.
D. B.
One of the best Polish restaurants in London.
The food is a slightly modern taken on Polish cuisine, but most of the classic dishes still feature on the menu.
The dining room occupies the ground floor of a very elegant Victorian building, which is also home to the preeminent Polish-community members club, established for Polish émigrés during WW2.
The outdoor terrace looking out over a garden square is especially pleasant in the summer.
The bar is also good, with a full range of Polish vodkas and botanical spirits.
T. &. h.
Lovely setting, good service, interesting menu. I had the smoked eel followed by the duck, my friend the steak tartar followed by the wiener holstein. All pretty good. Wine was good too.
D. T. B.
Excellent as always. Staff super management marvellous. Food fabulous. . Wine wondeful

I am coming back again and again: for amazing pierogi just like my mama used do make...for delicious fried kopytka, for originally composed lemonades and to finish off: mouth-watering desserts like creamy sernik or pavlova. If you are a Pole who misses traditional cuisine you will get some great dishes which will bring memories. If you are not: you will make new memories 😊 there is plenty dishes with a twist - a classic eastern ingredient but in a fresh arrangement or seasoning. Once you get stuffed with all these great foods stay a while in the bar: beautiful decor, bustling with pleasant atmosphere... just a place to be! A big plus: there is no people who get there randomly - entrance is well hidden amongst identical terraces, very subtle so you can be sure no loud tourists will ruin your experience!

Came here for a Christmas bazaar rather than a meal but everyone said the food is excellent. The building is located right opposite Imperial college and in a great location. The interior is really nice and would make a great place for a date or dinner with your loved one.
Free parking on nearby streets in the evenings and Sunday.
R. S.
Fantastic restaurant with very well executed Polish cuisine that is paired with sides to prevent it from being too heavy. Attentive staff and lovely ambience make it an excellent choice for a pre show dinner for Royal Albert Hall.
B. B.
Food and wine excellent. We has the set lunch plus the house wine which was very good.
T. A.
Great space and this place has a lot of history and was critical in WWII for Poles in the UK. Unfortunately since it is ultimately a restaurant in today's London, the food is mediocre and therefore gets a three star. Perhaps the starters are ok, but the mains are not. The pancake and salmon for example is dry and not fresh. The herring starter is not the best in terms of freshness and taste. This place has great potential but the chef's fall short from delivering authentic and tasty polish food. Perhaps stick with vodka and pirogie. Can't go wrong there. The terrace is cute for summer evenings.
J. D.
The food was great- even if you go for food that sounds very ordinary like Chicken Kiev it will leave you with an unforgettable experience. Service was good- timely and responsive. However I would suggest to the staff to smile a little more :)
B. I.
Loved it and will definitely be back. The food and service were amazing. We particularly enjoyed the pierogi and pelmeni.
E. Z.
A Polish restaurant in London. It’s my first time to try Polish food. The restaurant has elegant environment and friendly staff. With beetroot, potato pancakes, dumplings as specialties, It’s quite an interesting cuisine. The dumplings is quite similar to Chinese dumplings, with different fillings and sauces.

Excellent food and drink in a great setting and superb service.
k.
Amazing service… great Rose and Fig cocktail… do get the Duck and Polish Coffee.
L. H.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, food and cocktails. Wspaniałe polskie jedzenie!
T. W.
Taken here by a close friend and although I trust her implicitly where food and restaurants are concerned this one was a new one on me....BUT....the trust remains!!! This place was TERRIFIC....service was impeccable, menu interesting and GREAT wine list. It was difficult deciding what to order but in the end went with Duck Egg with Wild Mushrooms followed by Poached Salt Beef with Fresh Beetroot, Slaw and New Potatoes and finished off with Roasted Pears with Flavoured Vodka Jus and Ice Cream....salivating just thinking about it...IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS....CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE HIGHLY ENOUGH!! 11 out of 10!!
P. W.
Simply brilliant, you need to sample this authentic polish atmosphere and dining at its best, great location on exhibition Road, cannot wait to go back, very popular, advise to book for dining, wonderful bar, excellent staff, loving it. Xxxxxx🥳
R. O. H.
A very beautiful restaurant and good food. They should have more polish specialties.
I was a bit disappointed by the service. It took forever to order something to drink. I think we were waiting 30 minutes. Not the best impression!
B.
An extraordinary and bizarre place. Ognisko is part of a Polish gentlemen as club, easily missed as you walk down Exhibition Road. Inside, you experience a different era. The coat check girl (always girls) lead you into a large dining room overstuffed with tables, where await you a series of great cocktails, and a menu straight out of the home country. Polish specialities are all on offer, and absolutely authentic and delicious. Afterwards, if too full for dessert, you can try one of the many delicious flavoured vodkas. Definitely would revisit, if only for the time travel and the great food.
Q. Z.
Delicious food. Loved the vodka cocktails. Nice atmosphere. Reasonable price.
M. A.
Great location, ambience and nice food. Did not have all the food listed in the menu. May be an exceptional day. Worth visiting plus great history associated with this restaurants as was/is a Polish club too.
B. B.
Perfect. Gorgeous food and vodka. House wine was good. Staff were great.
A. T.
the best meal I've had (so far) in London
T. N.
Elegant surroundings and friendly staff lead to a calm and civilised beginning to the Ognisko experience. Good Polish food with helpful guidance on the menu and staff on hand to help you decide. Afterwards the bar is handy for a chilled vodka or hot drinks.
K. M.
Food was tasty but they had ran out of several of the things we really wanted to try. The atmosphere is fairly minimal while still being sophisticated, however it did feel like something was missing. Probably won't be coming back to be honest
K. W.
Polish centre on Queensgate in the museum district. Home of the long-standing Polish Hearth Club. Nice bar on the ground floor available to all. There's a large ballroom upstairs for receptions and parties. Pleasant staff. Restaurant available.
F. L.
Very good meal. Lovely ambience, tasty food (though the duck dumplings were unexpectedly sweet), quick & attentive service and generous portions at decent value. Would come again.
N. K.
Great customer service! Absolutely delicious and authentic polish food! Perfect place for special occasion or great idea for dinner date! 👌
R. C.
Excellent food, brilliant drinks especially flavoured vodkas, lovely room, very good service, eminently fair prices. One of the areas best restaurants which deserves to be much better known.
K. R.
Ognisko never disappoints.
Fabulous decor, delicious & refined food and great service. This time we also had a child in our party and they made sure to look after him too.
J. P.
Delicious food. The cabbage soup is particularly nice. Desserts are amazing.
Excellent friendly and fast service. Cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended !
M. L.
Among the best martini cocktails in town
M. M.
I cannot fault a single thing about this restuarant. The location is fabulous, if the weather is good you must dine on the outside terrace. The quality of the food is perfect and the portion sizes are huge. I loved it.
S. E.
Posh Polish!! Very nice meal. Service a little slow but was actually nice to have a slower meal and not be rushed. Food was excellent and the vodkas were great.
M. K.
Great flavoured vodka selection. The dumplings were excellent but the main course Veal Krazy was below expectation. However the Shnitzel was great.
N. C.
Great location, ambience and nice food. Did not have all the food listed in the menu. May be an exceptional day. Worth visiting plus great history associated with this restaurants as is a Polish club.
I. G.
What a gem!!! One od the best restaurants I have ever been to. Quick and attentive service. Delicious food - top class quality. Definitely will come back.
A. S.
Lovely polish and not only food!!
K. B.
Interesting place with history. Great for dropping in for coffee or cocktails with a bar menu but also fine dining but booking a table recommended. Close to V&A museum, Royal Albert Hall and Knightsbridge.
O. D.
Delicious food and kind clerk:)
R. P. R.
Pretty good restaurant, not specially expensive but not cheap at all. Lunch menu is awesome. Good quality is great. Smart decoration. A bit slow crew though.
J. F.
We dined on Sunday Lunch time and the restaurant was packed.
Cocktails were delicious especially Ognisko Cocktail with Aperol. Food was very tasty and authentic.
Highly recommended!
G. M.
Just a short walk down Exhibition Road opposite the Imperial College is the discrete entrance to Ognisko. If you're not familiar with Polish food (and we weren't) you won't be disappointed with this as an introduction.Everything we had was delicious (smoked eel with Russian salad, fried Kopytka dumplings, Pelmeni (veal and pork dumplings), Steak Tartar, rabbit braised in Madeira sauce).
And if you're a vodka aficionado then I'm sure you'll find a few that excite.
Prices are extremely good for London and certainly for somewhere like Kensington.
M. K.
Charmingly old fashioned in the best way. Very interesting menu. Loved the Bigos! Service extremely polite and attentive. Quite pricey but not if you consider the location so close to the V&A
H. C.
The service was amazing (has really, really improved over the last two years). The room is stunning and the food exceeded my already high expectations by a wide margin. Definitely coming back there!
J. L.
Great service, nice ambience. The sea bream was very well cooked and seasoned. Would recommend getting starters like the chicken liver and herring.
L. W.
Excellent food. Terrible service.
N. M.
Found randomly while visiting the Albert Hall. Classy venue serving well cooked, tasty stylish plates of Polish and baltic food. Good value pre theatre menu.
i.
Nice Polish food and a nice and relaxing atmosphere in the period dining room.
S. R.
A perfect choice when you're in Kensington. Truly lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff (happy to advise you on Ognisko's vodkas and cocktails lists - trust me, you won't be able to decide on your own! - I wasn't :) )
An absolute must is their 'Sernik' - Polish cheesecake - super creamy and simply delicious.
And rabbit stew? - it just makes you love Polish cuisine!
I'm coming back soon for Dumplings :)
N. F.
Gorgeous food in a beautiful setting.
J. J.
Tucked away Edwardian style restaurant and bar. Specialises in Polish food and is a good unique location to take someone to. Hybrid café, restaurant, bar it also sports a function room. It's good value and part experience. A short walk from the v&a, science museum, royal Albert hall and imperial college London.
J. G.
Very good food. Good wine selection. A bit noisy, as there were many groups. Gentle and helpful staff
V. K.
Excellent food with good variety and Polish courses. The wine list is very good and representative of Central Europe. All this under great surroundings.
N. W.
Great restaurant, atmosphere and food is excellent. Portions are on the large side, keep that in mind when ordering. Will certainly be going back to try their other dishes.
K. W.
One of the few upscale Polish restaurants in London. And one with a history too. The food is food and is a modern take on a lot of Polish traditional dishes. A little pricey but worth it.
S. G. K.
What a lovely experience ~ beautiful tented outdoor space (during covid outdoor eating), with great food, & friendly service... What more could you want!
D. G.
Very good quality of food and perfect people. Restaurant with long tradition.
W. M.
Loved it. Great food and surroundings with service to match. Good atmos too. Will certainly go again. Oh yes... and if it's good enough for HM Queen it's probably good enough for me too.
A. K.
Very good restaurant. Very close to Royal Albert Hall.
A. Z.
I have been to Ognisko several times over the last few years. Good location and great setting for a restaurant however food standards have slipped. my main course (pelmeni) came cold and it was a disappointment.
k. b.
This place is highly recommended for a night out. Impeccable service, an extensive wine list, fantastic food and ambience. One of our favourites.
J. J.
Great terrace to dine on. Food and drink excellent. Service a bit slow the day I visited. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting museums or Royal Albert Hall.
A. L.
Lovely Polish restaurant inside a famous historic Polish Club dating back to the World War Two era. Excellent food & service. Ideal for a special night out.
R. F.
The food was extremely tasty and the services can be rated as high quality. The place is nice and clean. I would really recommend it.
M. H.

J. L.
Great and interesting food, elegant modern ambience and friendly prompt service. Cocktail bar as well. Good place to eat if going to Albert Hall - 5 minute walk.
D. M.
Not the cheapest place to eat but wonderful food and lovely atmosphere. Food was delicious and services were good.
T. H.
What a charming place. The staff is wonderful and pleasant. The food is delicious. They also sport a spectacular bar. Make reservation during prima.
d. p.
Went for drinks only and I must say the cocktails and service were great.
A. S.
This place is bussin'! Respectfully. SHEEEEEEEEEEEESH 🙏
M. L.
Great food, and good service at this club, although the waiting staff do appear to be run off their feet. Very noisy dining room.
Make reservations for Saturday evening, if you want to get in.
I. L.
The food and cocktails were devine! Went there with my husband after the Circus de Solei show at the Royal Albert Hall and absolutely loved it. Highly recommended!
M. T.
Very good food, really authentic and different to the usual London fare. The interior is fantastic and decoration very tasteful. Wine list also excellent
A. W.
Only went for a drink but it had the alcohol content I was looking for so 5 stars. The place did look quite nice and heard they do good food also.
T. W.
Great food, busy but food served with a smile. Cocktails were great and loved their Cherry Vodka. We will definitely be back.
J.
High end Polish food - I didn't even realise there was such a thing! - and absolutely delicious. Great time. Have been twice. Fabulous food.
A. I.
If you are ever craving Eastern European food then this is the spot. The potato latkes and pierogi's are great. So is everything else on the menu. Simple, home style cooking.
D. B.
Really excellent. Enjoyed the beef and the fish on the pre-theater menu, as well as the dumplings.
A. K.
One of the most beautiful and fascinating places in London. The food is amazing and atmosphere is like classic Paris. This is a place the classic James Bond would approve of wholeheartedly!!!
J. M.
Variety is a key to Ognisko's offering. Home made vodkas range is overwhelming - dill & cucumber vodka, honey & horseradish, dark bock beer with vanilla - just to mention few of them. Courteous service makes you feel like a regular even if you're an Ognisko newbie. Lovely neutral decor and unique outside terrace are indisputable assets.
and a confit goose leg to die for...
D. E.
Interesting old Polish restaurant (? once the Polish Club). Lots of old photos from WWII. Good food, nice atmosphere. Lots of expat Poles 🇵🇱.
S. B.
Fantastic Polish food, just like Mom and Baptcha made. The service was great as well and took the time to help me with my much forgotten Polish
A.
Absolutely beautiful inside, the outdoor terrace on Princes Lawn is superb. Really friendly and professional staff. The food and wine was perfect.
K. G.
Lovely food, even if the salmon was slightly under cooked, very nice staff and prompt service. Lovely atmosphere.
t. h.
Love it ,We had the sea bream ,to die for. wonderful atmosphere great wine, that was recommended . I recommend this place for a evening out with friend's.
M. N.
The food here is very delicious, I love them. The restaurant's furniture is also very beautiful and romantic, especially when sitting outside the garden of the restaurant, the garden is very cute.
D. S.
Only went for drinks in the bar. Great cocktails 🍸🍸🍸
M. N.
My birthday lunch was lovely! Food and service beyond reproach!
3.
Amazing place with really good food.
For the service and food you get also well priced.
Went with the family and was really surprised. Will go there again!
M. W.
Always joy visiting this restaurant. Amazing backyard, great atmosphere, service. It's wite posh and pricey, but it's South Kensington so fits in to the vibe of the area perfectly.
C. R.
Such a lovely restaurant. Beautiful room, always busy and bustling, with really tasty and unusual choices. Highly recommended
E. C.
Good atmosphere, service and the selection of drinks. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food although the restaurant was full.
Y. Y.
Soooo nice! Totally gave me a surprise!

That soup reminds me of soup from my hometown China:)))
This roasted duck is amazing as well!
R. U.
A lovely establishment with beautifully appointed dining/function rooms in a stunning location; great menu with a wonderful selection of wines and cocktails; certainly worth a visit.
S. P.

M. W.
Very average in my opinion not going again
M. W.
Delightful Polish restaurant, amazing soups and mains. Service is charming and attentive. Simply wonderful.
B. N.
Great for Polish food and style in quite grand surroundings and in a very central location for the museum area of London. On a sunny day try the back terrace.
A. B.
The only issue is that menu options are limited, although on the other hand it’s a sign they keep their menu fresh. Actually polish dishes are a minority of what’s offered.
S. M.
Great Polish cuisine in nice surroundings, food was very good and filling, staff was very nice! will definitely visit again when in London!
E.
We had a covid reception and we had an amazing time, the food was lovely, the staff were amazing. Thank you. Xx

K. O.
Absolutely spectacular excellent food, very nice atmosphere, friendly professional staff with a very high quality service.
M. &. F.
It is OK, but not great. I found the restaurant pricey for what it offers in terms of the food. The ambiance is nice, but the food is greasy and the taste is not that great. I probably wound't return.
K. B.
I'm Polish and often say that Ognisko serves the best Polish food, even comparing to restaurants in my home country. Defo worth the money.
S. G.
A great place to eat traditional polish food in pleasant surroundings. Not expensive and it's open to non-members.
A. K.

Really good Polish cuisine! Amazing location and great value!
Wonderful beers and Wódka too!

Food is great and authentic. Atmosphere is a bit lacking though. I can't help feeling that I am inside Imperial College.
M. W.
