Reviews of OKAN South Bank
I. T.
I was initially drawn to this place because of their authentic interior space and okonomiyaki.
The service was great and the staff was super friendly and efficient. There is a very authentic ambiance to the restaurant.
Food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. The dishes came in a very orderly manner, so there was time to enjoy each single one of them. Definitely somewhere I would want to visit again in the near future.
I. M.
Amazing cozy little place serving authentic Japanese food including Okonomiyaki. Food is delicious and staff is very friendly too. It's advisable to book a table as place fills up quickly. Highly recommended
I. C.
Love this authentic Japanese place. A little jem behind the London eye. I’ve been here many times already and I’d always go back. Best booking in advance because the place is very small. The food is really delicious and authentic, a must try!
j.
Homey and delicious food in an excellent environment. Personable service too, who will recommend you what to order if you're unsure. Decent selection of drinks and food is served not too slowly given the constant full house and few staff.
Especially enjoy the oden which I think is a winter special?? Okonomitaki was a whole vibe, different from what you would usually get in a good way
Same for tamagoyaki. Osakan style cooking through and through! To my surprise the desserts were excellent too.
Make sure to book beforehand if visiting on a weekend or for dinner.

Tiny cute place with authentic decor. Food was a bit too salty but it’s not a big problem. We were sitting in the bar and It was really nice to be able to watch chef cooking in front of you.
Good value for money. One thing, they don’t have a washroom inside.
C. B. K.
I normally go to the Okan in Brixton (which I’ve been going for few years but forgot to post review for). This was lovely and cosy, very Japanese and authentic eatery vibe and layout. Have to say that it was quite cold sitting near the door, which meant we kept coats on during the meal.
Nevertheless, I still loved the food. Loved all the dishes we ordered, great mixture of textures and flavours. Some dishes were simple yet delicious - one of the reasons whilst I have a fondness toward Japanese cuisine. Was a delight watching all the okonomiyaki, omsoba and yaki soba/udon being made.
This place gets super busy and because it’s quite small, it’s definitely worth booking instead of turning up (felt like I should have taken a picture of how organised they were and how they had back-to-back bookings on little blackboards on each table). I saw people rock-up in groups of 4-6 and were turned away because the empty tables at the time would have had their guests arriving within 10-15mins.

Walking in felt like going to Japan, the interior is so Authentic. We ordered the Padron Pepper as starters which is soooo tasty, followed by a special Okonomiyaki and spicy tofu miso udon. The fried egg made it tastier so would recommend adding one if you order a Okonomiyaki. It is a short distance walk from Waterloo station/London Eye. Very small restaurant so better to book in advance. Been back twice already and definitely will be a third ☺️🤤❤️
T. F.
Very cosy place with a authentic feel, fast service and friendly staff. I'm glad I booked ahead for lunch on a Sunday as they had to turn a lot of customers away because they were so busy. I ate the pork okonomiyaki and house saki followed by chocolate moshi ice-cream - delicious!
D. N.
As we walked in for lunch it felt like we transported into a little back room bar and eatery in Japan. All the cooking is done in full view of the seats at the bar, and I kinda wished we'd booked seats at the bar.
The okonomiyaki were amazing, really authentic, as were the gyoza, best I've had outside of Japan. The sake was also really nice, really clean and crisp.
We were a little disappointed that our initial choice of dessert and the sweet sake weren't available, but our second choice of yuzu cheesecake was delicious.
I'd go back in a heartbeat!
R. E.
Really amazing place for the price! It's great for casual lunches, week-day dinners and with people who prefer something more authentic and understated. Loving the authentic Japanese interior too.
I originally booked this as a birthday booking for a friend. The staff were kind enough to message me and inform that they don't do birthday candles/cake in advance, which is a shame. Just a heads up for anyone looking at this venue for a special occasion.
We decided to go anyway and enjoyed the delicious Japanese style omelettes and stir frys and my friend the birthday queen really enjoyed the food.
Might pop in again for the good value for money for a casual lunch.
W. Y.
Lots of different side dishes and good selection of okonomiyakis to choose from. The decor is very authentic Japanese. It’s like you’ve stepped through into Japan. Can’t go wrong really.
A. K.
Their okonomiyaki deserves a 5 stars no doubt. Also, the restaurant decoration extrapolates that izakaya vibe perfectly.
Only if I had not ordered that rice cake. It’s overly salty like it’s soaked in soy sauce. And the rices were so scattered I can’t even take a second bite without a spoon.
So satisfied midway but walked away with disappointment.
A. P.
Very authentic Osaka canteen vibe. Super casual. お好み焼きと焼きそばがちょう上手い。
After wanting to go to Okan in Brixton for so long it was great to see a branch open up in Southbank!! The moment you walk in, you forget you're in London and feel like you've stepped into a 食堂 canteen in 大阪 Osaka. Highly recommend the special yakisoba and the okonomiyaki.
All the staff are female - and they're very skilled at cooking. Service was better if you speak Japanese - but can be quite curt and not the friendliest to English speakers. My friend asked for a piece of lemon in her drink and got told off. 😄 So yeah come for the food and authentic experience - welcome to a corner of Osaka in the heart of London.
R. S.
Authentic Japanese place next to London Eye. Open kitchen let's you see all tasty miracles happening in front of you.
V. M.
Hidden gem! Tiny place with very nice dishes and atmosphere. The desserts were our favourites: the homemade matcha cheesecake, and the yuzu cheesecake were both to die for. Will definitely return!
A. H.
Tasty okonomiyaki. Would come again. It's very busy even on a Monday night. You must book in advance.
S. L.
Their okonomiyaki is the best dish they do. It was packed with cabbage and seafood. I asked for extra mayo and they do charge £1 for that. The Omu Soba noodles were a little soggy and the omelet around that was quite dry. Their Tamagoyaki wasn't legit at all I am afraid. I think there is a translation error on the menu too. I ordered "rice cake" expecting the mochi-like Japanese rice cake. But it was in fact rice ball (Onigiri), and it was very salty.
Overall, I would come back for the okonomiyaki only. It was busy for a weekday so service was a little slow, but they were very polite. Vibrant ambience but ventilation could be improved.
S. H.
Very authentic Japanese bar. Food was great and services are friendly. Recommend booking in advance as the place only has 6 tables and a small bar.
K. C.
Great little Japanese eatery just off South Bank. Felt like I was transported to Japan with its decor and food offer. Okonomiyaki was amazing and staff was really friendly. Would 💯 recommend if you are in the area.
S. E.
Excellent Japanese street food-style restaurant, small and intimate where the food is cooked right in front of you. Delicious and a reasonable price - I'd really recommend.
M. N.
Very traditional decoration, good service, the food was just amazing, good portions too, we will come back 😋
L. G.
Very small place, kinda reminds me of an izakaya, they serve traditional cabbage okonomiyaki and noodle okonomiyaki, they also have some small bites izakaya-style on the menu too. I've only tried the okonomiyaki - they are great, exactly what you would get in Japan.
Booking ahead definitely recommended, you can almost never get a seat if you haven't made a reservation.
C. L.
The daily specials are definitely worth checking out! The prawn gyoza and okra we tried as part of that were lovely. The famous okonomiyaki and teppanyaki were delicious and very filling.
N. Y.
Street food okonomiyaki restaurant! Place is tiny but looks really cool. I would recommend booking in advance. The kitchen is open so you can see everything. Food was delicious and staff super lovely.
陳.
very nicely decorated japanese eatery.
reasonably priced with a great atmosphere. First time trying okonomiyaki and it was really good! definitely recommend and will be back :)
S.
The single most authentic Japanese culinary experience I have had outside of Japan. The food was absolutely amazing, saké was premium and the staff were lovely. I felt like I was in an Izakaya in Osaka.
K. S.
You have to book in advance because it's a tiny place. But the okonomiyaki is as good as you would get in Japan and the ambience is great. Make sure to tell them you are vegetarian when ordering, because they automatically put bonito (fish) flakes on the okonomiyaki.
D. Z.
What a charming and lovely place. Food was simple and very delicious, like it should be and much like similar fare in Japan. The place is cozy, tiny and very intimate. Staff was friendly and food was great and good value.
N. M.
Most authentic Japanese restaurant I've been to in London so far - the clientele alone is a testament to that. It really makes you feel like you're stepping into a bustling restaurant on a busy side street in Kyoto
K. G.
Wonderful hidden gem of London with a authentic Japanese experience and great service! Will definitely be back!
C. C.
Found this place when walking home from a show - almost missed it, it's a discreet little restaurant right by County Hall Theatre. I went in out of curiosity and I'm glad I did. The place felt cozy and authentically Japanese. Staff was lovely and professional, food looked and tasted wonderful. One of the Southbank's hidden gems.
G. H.
Possibly the most unassuming yet surprising culinary sensation I've ever had. It seems authentic and the staff are extremely passionate and helpful. They really know their stuff. No fancy tricks or bravado, just THE BEST FOOD I'VE EVER TASTED! For central London, it was incredibly cheap, too!
M. m.
Awesome restaurant, I was very surprised by the okonomiyaki, the best I have done so far!
i. a.
What an amazing place! Excellent food (all of the dishes we chose were very yummy), excellent service (all of the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful) and great ambience! One of the best Japanese restaurants in London. Definitely worth going there.
L.
You have to get inside the county hall...I went there yesterday with my friends. It was ok. Not something wow and special or something that we have never tried before but it was good and We enjoyed it a lot our whole experience. We ordered several dishes and three Japanese cocktails. The best one was the okonomiyaki tho. All the others was average
S. Z.
Really excellent Japanese food in a cosy hole in the wall with lovely service - feels exactly like being in Japan! I had the pork gyoza and pork and kimchi okonomiyaki - both super good and so rich in flavour. The people working there are really nice as well!
W. L.
Second time going to Okan, the vibe there is amazing.. really feels like a small corner of Japan in London. The staff are always so positive and happy to have you. The food is so tasty - can really feel all the flavours kicking in as soon as the food goes in. They were quite booked up so we were asked to leave as soon as we'd finished dinner, but they did tell us this before we sat down so we knew what time we were aiming for. Would return again and always recommend!
N. M.
Excellent. Feels like you are in Osaka. Lovely little space, super friendly and efficient service, and we were able to stay at our table for quite a while enjoying outstanding okonomiyaki and gyoza. We will be back soon.
I. H.
Very nice experience, the food was tasty and the staff were friendly and welcoming. You need to book your table though as It is hard to find a free table if you decided to try walking in. It is hard to fit more than 4 people on each table and to stay there more than an hour or so because the stole chairs are not comfortable.
C. H.
Authentic Japanese okonomiyaki. Delicious. Omelette pictured.
A. B.
We were a party of two looking for a quiet place that had good food reasonably priced. Sushi can be hit and miss with the quality but the reviews on this place seemed to be amazing. Going into the place seemed a little strange at first but through the door your greeted by the open space and chef preparing the dish in front of you, there were about 15 tables. The hostess sat us down promptly and we ordered and received our food within about 15 minutes. The food arrived and it was fantastic, the variety was good, the ginger fresh and the quality lived up to the reviews. I will be coming back but next time spending my own money rather than expensing it. Thank you.
T. K.
A cosy and nice atmosphere, with great Japanese food and friendly staff for a reasonable price. I would surely recommend it, but take into mind to book in advance
A. M.
Wow, what a little hidden treasure. Excellent cocktails, authentic atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service and reasonably priced for Central London. I will be back soon!
D. L.
If you like Japanese food, but not only sushi and you are in this aera (south bank) you shold definitely visit this place.
It's small, but have this nice atmosphere.
I've been 3 Times already and 3 times I was very happy.
Simple, but great food for a fair prcie...maybe sake coudl be a little bit cheaper but still , its always great.
Im happy to give a 5 stars
C. H.
Food is excellent at great prices. A niche place with very pleasant staff, advise to book first as usually busy.
C. B.
Great Osaka style food. Strong recommend. You might want to book as not much seating.
K. E.
Great food! Amazing Matcha Basque cheesecake :)
y. 8.
An authentic and reasonably priced okonomiyaki place with the loveliest staff. I went in to ask for takeaway and they prepared it for me even though they weren’t open for dinner yet. Also, the tables were all booked up but they let me sit and enjoy a glass of shochu while I was waiting for them to prepare my order.
The interior is cozy and intimate but I imagine that it must get busy during dinner hours so I would recommend making a reservation.
Definitely will be coming back.
S. G.
I really love the peaceful, friendly and familiar atmosphere of Okan London Eye!
Moreover the food is very good and at a very good price! :)
Today I have eaten pork gyoza, an amazing beef noodle kimchi cheese corn okonomiyaki (here there are a lot of good starting options and then you ask additional toppings) and rice with egg, okra and aubergines...and iced mugicha (barley tea)! The latter two were part of the day's special but the standard menu has a lot of options (including dishes I found only here as tofu gyoza!)...
I really love this restaurant! :)
D. S.
Lovely venue. Very little pork in the Okonomiyaki - but tasty nonetheless. Food service was pleasant but not coordinated - so the main dishes were served completely separately and extras came randomly too. That said - a venue I would definitely visit again.
O. G.
My favourite Japanese restaurant!
I go here every Thursday and the food is amazing, the beer is great, and the service is really nice! If you want Japanese comfort food, this is the place! Making a booking is a good idea, because it can get full in the evening most days! Lovely intimate space. Makes me feel like I'm in Japan again...
V. I.
Excellent escape into Japan's izakayas. Very authentic space and food. Felt like being back in Osaka. We had okonomiyaki.
I. L.
Very good ! veggie option for every dish. However portions are a bit small, one main dish can leave you a bit hungry
S. K.
Really authentic hidden gem in Southbank. Okonomiyaki is their main attraction but there are lovely selection of izakaya style small plates. Lovely decor, really feels like you’ve just entered an okonomiyaki-yasan in Osaka.
L. K.
Came before our evening theater tickets. Had the okonomiyaki and it was amazing! I had the plan special and highly recommend it. Went great with the iced barley tea
S. M. T.
Small authentic Japanese food, great interior really captures the street food experience. Great cuisine.
S. G.
Lovely little place, definitely try the Okan Special with a fried egg on top, delicious! Would be good for dates, but be sure to book ahead as there are only about 20 seats or less.
S. v. R.
an exceptional oasis of amazing Japanese food in central London this is a must visit make sure you book as it’s often packed out
D. M.
Loved it. I tried it for the first time last week and I had an amazing experience.
Real Japanese place with Japanese staff and ambiance. Tasty food, yummy shochu.
I'm coming back ASAP!
H. I. H.
Small cute spot in a very prime location.
F. M.
I am not a Japanese food connoisseur, but this restaurant tops all previous experiences.
Definitely worth a couple of visits.
Good vegetarian and vegan choices too!!
S. C.
Price is quite expensive and we had issue communicating with the staff as they were Japanese. The food was ok but nothing special. Still would recommend for an authentic experience
N. N.
We ordered the special Okonomiyaki. Highly recommended.
Good vibe, very authentic and the food is delicious.
Thanks 🙏
J. C.
Lovely Japanese restaurant just off South Bank. Friendly helpful staff and good quality food.
L.
Very authentic small restaurant. Food was incredible! 100% recommend
K. “. M.
The food is like home cooking, the taste is ordinary. Osaka yaki sauce is a bit salty.
S. T.
Delicious authentic izakaya specialising in unpretentious okanomiyaki. Stool seating only, very friendly staff and quick service.
N. B.
Brilliant place! Totally low key and authentic - feels like being in a little Japanese kitchen/restaurant. The food is prepared in front of you. I had Delicious okonomoyaki (spicy egg, cabbage pancake with a choice of fillings) and a very nice drink too. Everyone should come here! But, literally within the old County Hall, if you didn't know it was here, you wouldn't spot it. So strike out and find it, on Belvedere Road, a stone's throw from Westminster Bridge and the London Eye. You'll be glad you did :-)
C. B.
Really impressed. Authentic Osakan food - beautiful fresh ingredients and lovely staff. Great vibes.
S. B.
I love this place!
Such a fantastic atmosphere inside.
The people working there are lovely and very willing to help and explain things. Be warned there aren’t a ton of chairs and can get busy on the evenings of weekends. Otherwise you should be fine or they do takeaway.
R.
It's a great vibe and setting! The food was a bit disappointing maybe it was just my order. It was good to go once but wouldn't order again.
n. h.
An authentic Japanese experience. The staff were great and the food was wonderful! I would recommend this place as the best in London for Okonomiyaki.
A. H.
Authentic Japanese food! The special Okonomiyaki was spot on, and the staff were lovely. Highly recommended 👌
M. A.
Had such a lovely experience in this quaint little space. The food was top notch, their special okonomiyaki was the bomb and I could have had so many plates of their grilled mochi. To top it all of we had matcha basque cheesecake for dessert and it was so delicious I had to savour every bite. Will definitely be back, the staff were so friendly and gave us great recommendations.
A. C.
This place has great ambience. It is tiny, as it should be for a 'street food's cafe and you are right in there with the chefs which is a foodie heaven.
The food was good (but be prepared to eat a lot of bean sprouts) . Somehow it lacked some punch of flavour or authenticity. I was expecting more wow factor and flavour explosions. They didn't happen.
The Yuzu honey tea was excellent - I would go back for that alone.
M. L.
Best Japanese Izakaya food I have had in London. Friendly staff and outstanding food. Will be coming back
C. 1.
Authentic Osaka cuisine, loved every minute of it. Especially being able to see the chefs at work!
J.
If you want an omelette with BBQ sauce then this is the place for you, whilst the staff were excellent and the place was cool, the food just left some to be desired
E. T.
Amazing good food and service! Highly recommended. Brought me back to my days visiting Osaka!
S.
It is Japanese style pub. It reminded me of my mother’s okonomiyaki.
D.
Japanese owners serving authentic food with great hospitality. Will go again! Restaurant decor feels like being in Japan.
A. G.
Excellent Street Food Japanese Restaurant inside County Hall. Limited but stunning menu, not a big place so booking is advisable, especially as prices are very reasonable given the quality.
A.
Great authentic place that reminds of Japan. Amazing food and lovely staff.
P. W.
Not easy to find but great service - even came outside to help us find them. Atmospheric little dining space with best okonomiyaki outside Japan I’ve had… will be going back
A. B.
Really delicious and great staff!
A.
It's an ok place. Way too small and food is just ok as well. Really good service though!
o. c.
Cute Japanese place mainly serving delicious okonomiyaki, both osaka and hiroshima style. Very friendly staff and good food £9-£13 for a main. They have another restaurant in Brixton.
A. L.
Just perfect. Traditional with two passionate women always smiling. A must two see if you love japanese food.
A. a.
Love this place. Not a huge menu, but food is great, and really is a little slice of Japan in the middle of London.
A.
Reminded me of my travel days in Japan, lovely and quite authentic. Loved the cocktails and the food.
T. C.
Delicious authentic Japanese food!
L. R.
Delicious! Good service and reasonable prices, particularly for the area it’s in. The carefully curated interior is wonderful, you feel you’ve stepped through a portal into Japan.
L. B.
Lovely location: a small hole the wall with five tables and a counter, make you feel like you are actually in a Japanese city. The food is very good with an amazing variety of delicious okonomiyaki as the highlight. A wide selection of specials that changes regularly offers variety and offers a reason to come back again and again. Good selection of sakes as well.
S. M.
Great little place. So peaceful, delicious food, good service and the house sake was the smoothest I've ever tasted.
W. C.
Small teppanyaki/izakaya style restaurant. Food is amazing and staff friendly and attentive.
P. M.
Very good grub, backstreet style, service lovely but only 4 stars cuz the table needed a good wipe. Don't let that put you off.
E. F.
Lovely authentic Japanese restaurant with great tasting comfort food.
A. G.
Great food and a great atmosphere for my wife's birthday.
H. D.
Loved loved loved this place! They make fresh Japanese food in front of you which is absolutely delicious! They had a beef dish on the specials menu the day I visited which was the highlight of the dinner. Rest of the menu did not disappoint either. The setting of the place is good as well and staff are courteous and helpful.
e. a.
Just visited Okan for the first time & it was fantastic - the flavours in the gyozas, & teppanyaki were layered & delicious, and the Okan Special okonomiyaki was superb - the squid & prawns were cooked fantastic. The atmosphere & decor was great fun, and the staff were happy and enthusiastic throughout our visit.
S. G.
Amazing place, food was excelent and thee desserts were put of this world.
A. G.
Some of the best Japanese food I've ever had. The grilled rice ball was delicious. The ramen, despite not being from a ramen house, was also perfect. Not too hard on the wallet either.
It's a small place which gave me a feeling of comfort. Servers were polite and accurate and quick. Lovely place, will never forget it.
O.
Come here for the most authentic okonomiyaki outside of Japan. Great food and lovely staff. I couldn’t recommend it more.
N. M.
Great food in a small quint place, not the fastest service, but well worth the wait
M. M.
It brought back so many memories of our time in Japan. Authentic and delicious food!
G.
Nice little izakaya. We had the gyoza washed down with a couple cups of nihonshu. Highly recommend the gyoza - better than I make. Somewhat pricey.
S. K.
Amazing traditional Japanese food tucked away a stones through from the London eye. Book ahead as it only has limited seating. You are sat in the kitchen and can see the chef cooking your dinner. Friendly service and the Japanese style omelette was delicious. Highly recommended as long as there is room for me next time!
C. I. G.
Although the place it was not live at first sight... Food is really good.
T. L.
This is a great treasure. We tried the okonomiyaki and it took us straight back to our travels in Japan. Absolutely scrumptious. The service is very warm and friendly and are beyond hospitable. You certainly get a meal for your money and don't leave hungry. Would definitely come back.
A. B.
Omelettes looked good (though didn’t get those), some of the small tapas style bites were nice but the mains were poor, the curry was packet sauce with rice and almost no meet, the pork is bacon ( and not great quality) ramen not great
D. M.
Excellent service and food here.
If you sit right by the hot plate you can watch the cooking, you do risk the odd spatter of oil but it's worth it.
We shared the dumplings and Japanese pizza/omelette and house saké.
We didn't spot the specials board until after we had eaten, so we missed the aubergine with honey this time around.
Will definitely visit again.
M. B.
Cosy Japanese cafe with well flavoured food and good sake options
R. C.
The best Japanese restaurant ever

Nice vibe, good food
S. T.
Good price, friendly people, food was tasty and authentic.
J. A. G.
Great Japanese restaurant. Felt very authentic, not touristic at all and at a good price.
R. R.
The Okonomiyakis were over the moon. Very cozy place and very friendly staff.

Delicious food.

Great Japanese with small but good selection!

Quite good

Nice little izakaya. We had the gyoza washed down with a couple cups of nihonshu. Highly recommend the gyoza - better than I make. Somewhat pricey.
L. N.
Japanese street food and izakaya menu. Japanese beer and sake. Directly from "Midnight Diner"
E. D.
Really small place that sells an amazing variety of Japanese pancakes that are good portions for sharing. The staff are very helpful too.
C. C.
Amazing, authentic Okinawa street food. I went with a friend to dinner and had a fantastic time. Great service that was friendly and quick

What a lovely place, a hidden gem in Waterloo. Amazing food and atmosphere :)
A. T.
A little difficult to find, but a very cute and cosy place. It’s mainly okonomiyaki - whilst tasty, they ended up tasting very similar. Friendly service and funky but small space.
A. B.
Eaten at Okan Ramen in Coldharbour Lane, Brixton since it opened. They are very nice here and dog friendly hence the extra star on my review. The food was incredible when they first opened,Friend took me here and it was amazing. Great for a snack or a meal. Ramen was incredible! Must visit if you like ramen.
r. k.
Strongly Recommended.
You may have lots of chance to eat ramen sushi or something else in many places in London, but you hardly had chance to have this kind of traditional food except at OKAN.
Few euro people know about Japanese other than ramen, but their menu contains more street food that you may not know while Japanese people used to eat them. My favourite ones are spicy miso udon (fried first then spoilt), Yaki soba and okonomiyaki. Each one is totally JAPANESE-STYLED, which you may expect.
Nice workers all from Japan or have stayed Japan for quite a long time. Warm service.
H. Y.
Lovely food and ambiance. Reminded us of our time in Kyoto
C. C.
Visited this restaurant for the first time this weekend.Very busy and needed to book. The service was very slick and professional.A good selection on the menu and you are spoiled for choice.Exceptional service especially as I was an hour late... friendly staff, good food and selection. Lovely little place, cosy, very very accommodating staff! Food was great, but just not my thing.
Ordered the okonomiyaki, which is like a cabbage + co pancake.
A. L.
Delicious! And unique DIY-like interior. Order the speciality Japanese omelettes as a main and make sure to have some sake and the matcha-desserts too!

Amazing service, amazing food and amazing Atmosphere!!

By no means is the food poor, however the flavours tasted in Japan and abroad would definitely be more intense and flavoursome. Service was great. The service charge was unexpected.
L. N.
Japanese street food and izakaya menu. Japanese beer and sake. Directly from "Midnight Diner"
V. W.
The venue is pretty hard to find but it definitely has a different look to it. Almost as if you are on street market but indoors. The food portion size was pretty small and the prices was extremely high. If you have deep pockets definitely try this place out.

Delicious Okonomiyaki and and authentic japanese atmosphere. Japanese locals come here after work to sit at the bar counter and enjoy their meal.
They also have a good selection of drinks, like Sake and three different types of Japanese beer (Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo).
I would recommend booking your table otherwise it’s not gonna be easy.
D. T.
Best Japanese curry I've had in months! Great portion sizes and sake to compliment

(Translated) Absolutely positive experience, cozy place and really well done in old Japanese izakaya style
The service was accurate and the staff always attentive to the customer. The menu is limited but contains a bit of everything in general of the typical cuisine of the rising sun, the one that comes closest to streetfood so to speak and not to sushi and sashimi, prices not own bass anyway Great !!!! To recommend !!
(Original)
Esperienza assolutamente positiva, locale accogliente e fatto veramente bene in vecchio stile izakaya giapponese

(Translated) Okonomiyaki in London.
It is a level that you can fully satisfy overseas. The price is not so high and the taste is solid.
Shochu and sake are reasonably priced, which is enough to enjoy with rice. The chef does all the cooking, so it's not a style of baking by yourself.
All the staff can speak Japanese and the customer service is wonderful. There is a variety of okonomiyaki and yakisoba, and you can customize it yourself (same as in Japan).
There are various types of desserts and snacks, and you can enjoy it with just a little bit. If you miss Japanese food, this is a recommended place.

(Translated) We loved it! It is a charming little place in the heart of London. It was very well organized and the staff wore a mask at all times.
The food was delicious. It has been the only place outside of Japan where I have been able to try Okonomiyaki and it was delicious.
Without hesitation I will visit again.

(Translated) Very delicious Japanese food, tried okonomiyaki, beef fried noodles, and dumplings.
The first two with sauce will have a richer taste
I hope the price can be more affordable, but this is London...
Also, the service staff are very friendly, they are all Japanese

(Translated) The Okonomiyaki restaurant "OKAN" loved by Brixton is newly opened. The location is in the Country Hall near the London Eye (the entrance is on the other side of the Thames, the street with Starbucks). Okonomiyaki, which is cooked by a store owner from Osaka, is a genuine deliciousness that is popular in the Kansai region, where you can eat the zabuzabu cabbage mixed with seeds and the dough that is thick and reasonably thick and the original sauce (this is also delicious!). In addition to okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yaki udon, handmade gyoza and various teppanyaki menus that are perfect as snacks for sake, there are also a variety of sake such as sake and shochu in addition to the drink menu shown in the photo. I think it would be great to have fun with them as well. If you live in London and miss the taste of "Okan", or if you miss the taste of Japan while sightseeing, this is a shop you should definitely visit.

(Translated) In the past, the taste of Osaka is ok, that is, the iron plate bacon egg cabbage cake, the beef rice is really salty, and the service is good. Osaka pancake tastes nice, but the beef rice is very very very salty. Great service.
