Reviews of Rasa Sayang Restaurant
S. Z.
Still good place. Been there a few years ago. Laksa was really tasty. Beef was a bit... too chewy, not sure if it was slow cooked. The curry and bread in the starter was absolutely amazing! I ended up dipping my chicken wings into the curry - so spicy but so tasty! Oh do try their milk tea, amazing.
J. L.
Great authentic dishes that bring back memories of Malaysia! Very efficient + friendly service too. Everything was great (nasi lemak, Mee Goreng, roti Canai) except the fried tempeh which was drenched in a very sweet, ketchupy sauce.
A. H.
Authentic and delicious Malaysian and Singaporean food here! The restaurant does get crowded so prepare to wait in line. The roti canai was superb and a must order. I liked the char kway teow and the hainan chicken rice was okay but was more Malaysian style than Singapore man. The chili shrimp was mediocre but we liked the teh (hot tea) here.
f. k.
Really busy restaurant, had to wait in line for 15/20 minutes for table of 5. Service was good. Ordered few different items, laksa was very fishy tasting, I felt the nasi goreng was quite plain, rendang was really flavoursome, prawns and wings in the mixed platter were probably the highlight! Overall good food, more authentic tasting than other Malaysian restaurants. Little bit expensive but expected for central location.
W. R.
Been meaning to go here for a while now and it didn’t disappoint. Delicious, authentic Malaysian/Singaporean food and drinks. The beef rendang was excellent, well spiced and very tender. The staff were also friendly and attentive and I’d definitely come back again to try the rest of the menu!
S. V.
Absolutely loved the food here. Service was great. Can't wait to come back.
We ordered beef noodles, chicken satay, pak choy, and sea bass with lady fingers (bit boney though). All so tasty. We kept ordering the teh peng, a delicious tea.
L.
I was very impressed by this restaurant as food was extremely tasty. We had
Roti Canai
Malaysian Hokkien Mee (Main)
Hai Cheong Gai
And I really enjoyed the food. It was quite busy and I didn’t feel rushed to eat or finish my food. When we did finish it did feel hurried to leave but understandable as it was busy and very much in demand. The drinks were really good and I had the quiet storm. I would recommend this place and would come back. Thanks for this.
J. T.
Very tasty! Really missed having hainanese chicken rice and laksa from my hometown….
Msg is a bit strong tho, quite thirsty after the meal
And the laksa can be more spicy, love the flavour tho, very rich!
Oh and the tables/chairs are a bit crowded….
R. J.
We just wanted a late night snack and tea, we ordered some spring rolls and roti canai with teh tarik. The roti canai was the best I’ve had so far spring rolls wasn’t anything special tasted like all the other spring rolls I’ve had. Teh tarik was spot on just what I wanted. Came here a long time ago and now the place looks like it’s been done up and the prices have gone up. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didn’t like the seating we were too close to the people next to us we could here the conversations of people sitting next to us. There was no social distancing.
n. j. n. u.
Good food, decent size (they can improve the position sizes of their noodles items) fantastic costumer services (which is rare in China town).
But the best one it’s HALAL yay 🥳.
F. N. A.
Good food and service. Always busy. Highly recommend the salted egg prawns and the chilli prawns.. chilli crabs is nice but hard to eat. Prefer the prawns with the same sauce.
R. P.
Staff was very friendly and helpful and food was good, however my friend found a broken piece of metal (looked like a staple) in his rice that he actually chewed on. This was scary as he could have swallowed it and could have potentially caused serious damage. The kitchen should be much more cautious and I hope it does not happen in the future.
Prices are reasonable but it would be great if there are photos on the menu, because based on the description, it is sometimes difficult to figure out what you are ordering, especially if you are new to this type of cuisine.

I was stunned when I got my food . It was beyond my expectations . The vibe of the restaurant gives me south eastern vibes . The woman who served us -Alice - gave us recommendations and I’m glad I listened to her. The food is filling , looks really presentable , fills you with warmth and worth the money! The best part? .. it’s halal for all the Muslims out there :)
It’s been open for about 25 years so I’m shocked I’ve only just come across it . Alice was lovely, good customer service and a friendly face . Everything was amazing !
K. Z.
the food is excellent here; really authentic and flavorful! for best dining experience come early around opening time to avoid the lines and receive better service. have ordered nasi goreng, prata, chicken satay, and chicken rice so far; all of it is phenomenal! one thing though is that the chicken for the chicken rice is a bit dry 😅 the broth is excellent though!!
P. H.
Noodle soups were awesome! Seafood were cooked to the perfection.
The service was helpful and kind.
A. N.
Decent Singaporean food in London, one of the better ones available here. Highly recommend the Har Jeong Chicken and Char Kway Teow.
However , their service is lacking and many items are unavailable on the menu .
M. F.
Roti canai was good. Noodles were ok but the poached chicken was exactly not to the taste. The poached chicken was bland. The spiciness was missing. Staff were friendly.
M. J.
The Singapore chili crab is soooo delicious!Even the satay. BBQ with peanuts sauce. Mmmmmm yummy!
J. F.
Great food, staff are friendly and helpful. We were recommended to come here by a friend and sooo pleased we came. The food came out quickly which was helpful what with the going to the theatre after. Would definitely come back again, thank you.
H. A.
Well impressed with Rasa Sayang. As someone who has visited Malaysia, I can tell the food served here is legit and authentic.
Menu is very reasonably priced for Central London. Though most of the food was tasty, I did find that some dishes were maybe over-sauced/seasoned.
Staff here are super welcoming, effecient and attentive. They really make the experience more enjoyable.
There is plenty of outoor seating and I highly recommend it if the weather is on the warm side. It's a fantastic enviroment and a great way to dine.
K.
Went here because of Uncle Roger lol. Arrived at 19:00 on a Friday without reservation and it was packed. There was a short queue but I was seated very quickly. Ordered the Hainan chicken rice and loved it. Wish they had more dessert options but I liked the sago gula melaka.
H. A.
Authentic Malaysian food. The restaurant is bright, busy, and serves delicious food.
There was a bit of a wait during peak time, but service is quick, there is upstairs and downstairs seating for many different group sizes, including single and large groups, and they do their best to accommodate.
The food was tasty, the portions just the right size, and menu contains a good number of options. The food isn't watered down, and you enjoy a good amount of flavour.
Happy to return.
H.
I ordered the har cheong gai (halved chicken wings) for starters and char kway teow for mains. The mains was a big portion and they were generous with the prawns. An improvement is that the dish would need more wok hei (smoky aroma from the wok) plus some ingredients of the dish were luke warm. It was like it was gently tossed for a few seconds without cooking it thoroughly. During the meal, the huge lightbulb dangly in the middle of the table near the back was flickering constantly which made it very hard on the eyes and seemed hazardous.
L. T.
Rasa Sayang Restaurant located Oxford circle streets. The food served nice hot & quite big portion. Enough for two. We order nasi goreng Istimewa, tasty eventhough cost about £12 but for two..more than enough. We had a great dinner there.
A. M.
So far it has been the best malaysian food i have found in london and yes definitely better than roti king which is a complete garbage (dont go here) this is way better than roti king. Tried the hainan chicken rice and it was good, love the dessert and love the sate. This is recommended if you are looking or missing malaysian food and it is recommended to go back again. I would visit again for malaysian food.
H. I.
A surprisingly good find. Had beef rendang, hainanese chicken rice and chicken satay. Drinks were bandung cincau and hot teh tarik.
Taste wise, all are either good or great, and almost as good as one would get back home.
Even the super efficient service - which borders on the ‘rude’ spectrum for Westerners - was typical Asian LOL
Update: tried their version of Laksa Singapore. Didn’t disappoint. I think they’re short-staffed, because there’re many more seats downstairs where you’ll also find the clean restroom.
G. P.
I got the char kway teow and Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste marinated wings) and they were edible but not great. Chicken wings were very crispy but unfortunately had no flavour at all (is that why it's served with sweet chilli sauce?) and each wing were really small in size. Noodles were lack lustre in flavour and had no smokiness to it at all (this is what makes a char kway teow great). We waited a long time to get in and for the food to arrive and this would've been fine had the food been better.
M. S.
Yet another great mouth watering Malaysian street food.
Unfortunately it was their last day in SOHO, as a result we couldn't order most of the main dishes like Curry Chicken and the Nasi Lemak.
We ordered Chicken Satay, Roti Canai and a refreshing Malaysian tea called Teh Tarik
Can't wait to visit them again at their Chinatown branch
مطعم ماليزي ممتاز جدا و انصح به

A short walk from Tottenham court road in the heart of Soho. The restaurant serves a mix of Malaysian and Singaporean food, with a wide array of food selection at reasonable prices. The staff were polite, both indoor and outdoor seating
W.
It’s not as good as the Malaysian, Singaporean food in Asia, but it is a nice day to go when you’re craving for something like Hainanese Chicken rice or beef Rendang.
The chicken is not as tender and soft as it is in Singapore, but the rice is good. The nasi lemak is much larger in portion compared to the chicken rice, and feels like it’s better in value.
The iced milo will be finished in two sips
C. O.
Second time visiting and it was even better than the first time.
The staff were decent but not standout. However, it's still 5 stars for the food alone.
Between four we had the BBQ platter for 4, roti canai to share, and a main each. I particularly recommend their Singapore laksa, it's a must-try and comparable to the stuff you can get in hawker centres over there. Fab-u-LOUS.
M. F.
Malaysian and Singaporean street food style. Taste very local. Luckily during this (pandemic) time when all seats in Soho are outdoor on the street, very nice atmosphere. The waitress Lee is super sweet to us, exceptional lady!!! They can also adjust some menus to vegetarian like what I had, Kway Teow, delicious!
M. M.
The beef randang was sooooo goooood, everything else was delicious too, the atmosphere was relaxed, the only complaint is when we got there they said there’s no tables and downstairs area is not opened yet but we sat by the window and when I went to wash my hands downstairs, I saw it was open and there were customers seated at half the tables. Disappointed we were lied to like this but didn’t let it ruin the experience
M. A. M.
Visited on Friday with a party of 3 and didn’t have a reservation but they were able to accommodate us to a small table inside of the restaurant.
With regards to the food, in true Malaysian fashion, we ordered a couple of dishes with some white rice. Ordered the grilled stingray, it was amazing; followed with the salted egg prawn and kangkung belacan, again, amazing. All of the dishes tasted authentic and brought me back home to Malaysia.
The only downside was the pricing and portion. I wouldn’t mind getting a bit more prawn and kangkung, the portion of the grilled stingray was alright. Pricing is a little more expensive as compared to other Malaysian restaurants in London but it was still acceptable as food was delicious and the restaurant had a nice ambience.
Would not hesitate to give them another visit whenever I am in London.
D. B.
One of my most favourite restaurants in London at the moment.
The service is incredible, you do have to book bec it does get packed.
The food is amazing, incredible portions amazingly priced.
I needed a table for my dad upstairs and the host sorted it out immediately.
Food is just exceptional my whole family loved it!
Thank you so so much
A. B.
Absolutely gorgeous, could not fault. Nicest meal I have had for ages. Also I was with my adult Autistic daughter. Down stairs is quiet, it has low lightning and she was able to enjoy her meal. Highly recommend you give this place a try 5 *
M. S.
I walked in without a reservation on a weekday for lunch. The restaurant was packed but the staff were attentive. I highly recommend the rendang. It’s one of the best rendang I’ve tried in London in my opinion. The Milo peng was refreshing. Would definitely come back.
M. H.
Despite being my 2nd dinner of the evening, I couldn’t stop eating. The peanut sauce with the satay chicken was THE BOMB. Mix it with the crispy roti… no words for it! The Char Kway Teow was slurpy and tasty, and even the small portion of wonton was cooked to perfection. Definitely my favorite Malaysian place so far:)!
J. A.
The chicken satay skewers were to die for. The rest of the meal whilst serviceable failed to live up to expectations. Prices are adorable however, especially for Central London.
R. L.
Limited menu due to covid but still food was very good and staff was very professional!
L. N.
Beef rendang was amazing, this place did not disappoint at all as it was also halal. First time going here, and i will definitely be returning.
Z. B.
I haven't been home in years and plan to once the lockdown measures ease up. Rasa Sayang is a blessing for when I miss home. The food and drinks tasted authentic and even the ambience of the restaurant reminds me of home. Would recommend booking as it usually looks busy.
R. D.
Everything was delicious! The restaurant was busy but the service was quick and the staff were very friendly.
k. l.
I particularly like the seafood noodle. Roti was amazing as well. Portion is big.
t. n.
Really authentic flavours. Loved the fried fish!
K. U.
I finally visited this restaurant. The food was very tasty and served hot🔥. I ordered the chilli prawn dish, and the roti canai starter. The main came with roti instead of bao buns. The staff did not say anything or explain why or offer an alternative. They just assumed it was ok to give me something else.
I ended up having 4 rotis served (2 with the starter). It's would've been nice to have the option to choose a different main course, if part of the dish had ran out
Overall, I think the menu is great, but let down by lack of communication by staff, hence the 3 ⭐⭐⭐.
K. K.
Ample amount of seats outside. The hainanese chicken was delicious and the chicken breast was juicy. The Char Kway Teow had tasty seafood (squid, prawn and fish balls) and smoky flavour to the dish too. These cost £10.50 each.
F. W.
Great Malaysian food and drink, staff were friendly too. They have refurbished and it looks great.
n. r.
Is one of the best Malaysian/ singoporean restaurants in London that you must surely give a try 😍😍🇬🇧🇬🇧
S. F.
The food was amazing! It was so filling and hearty for affordable price plus it’s halal, I had the Laksa and I recommend getting that if you want really amazing soup noodles. The restaurant is warm and the decorations is incredible.Alice was our hostess were very friendly and attentive! You must visit here
W. A.
Food was average, restaurant was very clean. Expect to queue. Portion size was average.
F. A.
Good Malaysian food. Slightly altered taste to cater to the western palette. Surprisingly, must servers there cannot converse in malay, despite being from Malaysia! Otherwise, I would've given 5 stars.
H. T.
Definately the best Singaporean/Malay food in London. Very authentic and would stand strong against some of my favourite spots in Singapore itself. Love the variety of dishes on the menu, only really missing Otah :D . Preferred the decoration at the old location towards Soho, but the new place is also very good.
A.
First time to attend this place, and I honestly say the food was quality and service was excellent. The most thing I admire was the great and polite service, it was like a warm welcoming Also they have a good supervisor Alice she can help recommend dishes to test. I loved the test of the Roti with curry source and I'm considering to return for another dish to taste.
S. I.
The food here was really nice. Halal menu. Staff were very friendly. Flavours were great
R.
Nasi lemak, Haianese chicken rice, and Teh Tarik. They were all absolutely delicious. Good service as well.
R. R.
I have visited Rasa Sayang several times and have always had a great experience. On this occasion I ordered the Nasi Lemak which was flavourful but not my favourite. Definitely recommend the Roti Canai (absolutely delicious) and Beef Randang.
C. O.
Small restaurant in China Town but really enjoyed the food, which was also a good price. I'd come here again.
P. B.
The food was gorgeous, service was fantastic and really reasonably priced for central!
I'm autistic and was seated downstairs and I was surprised how accidentally perfect downstairs was for someone like me, the lighting isn't as bright and it's much quieter than upstairs, made from a stress free delicious dining experience.
K.
I've eaten food in Malaysia and Malaysians restaurants in London, and this one is with out a doubt the best one. All the food was on point, and even though the mains roti chanai was sold out, the starter was way better than anything else I've had in London. So the food was excellent and the staff were too. Very polite, helpful and lovely people. Will continue to go back there whenever I can. Thank you.
A. A.
Authentic and delicious Malaysian food, with good service. What makes this place stand out compared to other Malaysian restaurants is there they are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. The vegan nasi lemak was really good in particular. Definitely coming back here soon!
N.
This is such a lovely restaurant . The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The service is super quick and the food is delicious and halal - brilliant. It is very reasonably priced and so handy for the theatre. It is our go to pre-theatre dinner venue
m. k.
You would love this place if you like sweet flavours. Would recommend Roti Canai.
r. l.
Food abd service was nice. The mixed grill for two people was very small at £20 and we felt cheated when we saw the quantity. Come on guys, get more meat on your skewers or dress it with veg and salad .
M. A.
Service was friendly and polite. However although we were sat just outside on the table closest the door, the staff often failed to acknowledge us.
The food in general was good without being amazing. The nasi goreng was decent but not as good as I've had elsewhere.
A.
One of the best Malay or Southeast Asian restaurants in London area
A. M.
Felt the need to write my first review after having the Rasa sayang experience. Ordered the nasi goreng, the only dish I'd heard of before. When my food was promptly served, I was shocked at the generous portion size for such a modest price. I wasn't aware that my meal would also come with 5 crispy fried chicken wings fried to perfection, and a heap of crispy prawn crackers which was an enjoyable side. The never-ending rice tasted totally authentic but the best part was that they weren't stingy with the prawns! Cannot complain about anything. An overall delightful meal especially for those looking for halal food!
R. W.
Been here atleast 3 times in the last few years. The food quality and taste was better when it was managed by Malasian owners and chefs. Quality and taste has declined since Chinese management has taken over. There are better malasian restaurants in London that offer originality of this beautiful cuisine. Rasa Sayang is not cheap either so worth considering going elsewhere.
J. L.
I really enjoyed the food here. I had a range of food. I think the food could be a little bit spicier but very nice flavours. I definitely recommend the beef rendang. The staff are nice and friendly. 👍
A. M.
Good old Rasa Sayang. If you’re after a quick, filling meal before the theatre look no further. Don’t expect a fine dinning experience here. These guys know what good Malaysian food taste likes, and they serve it well and they serve it quickly. It can get a little busy sometimes so be prepared to wait if you arrive at peak time. You really can’t go wrong.
B. S.
The crabs were out if the world! Very affordable. The only downfall was the char kueh teow. It tasted a lot better in the old premise.
T. Z.
Phenomenal service. I have a shrimp allergy and the manager personally came over to ensure that I knew what I could order as I didn't realize certain dishes contained shrimp. I enjoyed my beef hor fun a lot and my husband liked it more than his Hainanese chicken as well. Everyone enjoyed the roti canai but the sauce was deliciously spicy. Beef rendang was cleaned out by my brother. The sea bass dish had no bone untouched by my brother in law who is quite picky and my husband despite being full couldn't stop eating it. Prices are so affordable as well.
K. M.
Best rendang I've had!
They nailed the flavours and it was amazing.
Definitely planning to return to try more items on their menu.
10/10
A. W.
Always have the classics like Nasi Lemak and Kuey Teow here, never disappointed but they water down the teh tarik sometimes..
U.
The Singaporean chilli crab was unbelievably tasty! It comes with 4 dumpling/ fried bread rolls, make sure to order an extra 4. They’re great to dip in the sauce.
S. L.
This place exceeds my expectations. I tried the beef rendang, chicken satay, and cold teh tarik, it was delicious. The staff was friendly and nice. It took some time though to get my order ready, perhaps around 25 minutes. But it was reasonable as the place was packed at that time.
c. z.
Delicious and more than enough food for 2, I had to get a takeaway box!
C. S.
What an amazing place. For asian food lovers this is the place to go if you love malayasian food. I had Wat tan hor such a balanced sea food dish i could write pages of it. I tried the well renowned roti and some stir fried noodles as well. All cooked to perfection. All this is paired with a speedy and friendly service. Will definetly come back
H. E. /. O.
really great restaurant with fantastic staff - the sambal was INCREDIBLE. We ordered the cha kwaeoy and nasi goreng. Very good!!!
my date forgot to order her meal as vegan by accident - even though they brought out and cooked the non-vegan version. they replaced it free of charge which was really nice of them.
:)
10/10 - would recommend.
J. A. A. P.
Authentic Malaysian Cuisine at its finest. I visited the new location just a stone throw away from original restaurant in China Town. A lot more modern in decor but I do miss the charm of the previous restaurant. Laaksar noodle was fantastic, the broth had a deep richness from the prawn and coconut milk. Stir fry beef was also delicious with a generous portion of rice and steamed broccoli.
What makes this a stand out restaurant is that it is fully halal menu with no pork however, they now serve alcohol on site which is disappointing and would deter me from visiting or recommending to family and friends! Pricier than previous location but I guess it’s just a sign of the times.
J.
Enjoyed a sizeable feast of authentic Malaysian food here. The dishes are tasty, flavourful and reasonably priced. The staff are very helpful. They provide multilingual services - Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, English and Malay. They also made instructive recommendations.
I was most impressed by their attentiveness and observant eyes. When they noticed my friend and I were trying to have a bit of each other’s dishes, they brought us two small bowls without being asked to.
If you can’t finish the big portion, they would box the leftovers carefully for taking away. They definitely deserve the 10% discretionary gratuity appearing in the bill.
E. R. M.
Cosy halal restaurant in a busy area of Soho. Food was delicious, service was excellent. The food comes out as it's prepared so you may get appetizers after the entrée. The beef in the beef rendang was a little tough but tasted great. Roti canai is always good. The Raffle Singapore laksa was ok, I've had better. Tiolets are clean but up a steep staircase. They have a great restaurant manager. Recommend.
K. L.
Fairly priced and super good! The nasi lamak or hainanese chicken are super !
C. T.
As a Malaysia, I think food is only alright. They are not bad but not very good either. Especially for the price point, you can get tastier malaysian food else where in London. Overall, not good not bad.
M. P.
Its a great place to try with amazing flavours. Their BBQ platter and roti with curry is spot on.
A. Z.
i enjoyed the very delicious malasian food specially the spicy soup. the rice is nearly similar to the egyptian one. the procolli was tasty. the restaurant was croweded and narrow spaces however staff are nice. its not that expensive.. 2 dishes for 25 pounds.
W. H. T.
The roti Plata is very very good. The associated curry sauce is actually better than the ones I had in Singapore. At least one notch better. The cha kuai tiao didn't have enough black sauce and sufficient amount of egg. However it is probably the best version in London.
T. D. M.
The food was ok, we took noodles soup and we were expecting more in term of taste and choices of ingredients. The ambient is not cosy and lights to bright. The service is very good tho.
E. J.
I was visiting London from the states for 5 days and ended up coming here twice for Malaysian food. Good Malaysian food is hard to come by where I'm from so I didn't want to miss the opportunity to try more menu items here! Kind and quick service, but come early or during off hours to avoid waiting for a table.
W. V.
Rasa Sayang Restaurant is a simple no-frills Malaysian/Singapore-style restaurant in 5 Macclesfield Street near London Chinatown. A friend brought me here when I said I wanted something spicy after a chilly day and I’m glad he did. We had Roti Canai (£4.90), Singapore hokkien mee? (£8.90), and Mee Goreng? (8.90). Most of the menu is below £9 and comes with pictures which is great since I’m not I’m not familiar with Malaysian cuisine. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and service was quick. Definitely going back to try their other dishes. 5 out of 5 stars.
C. L.
I was very pleased with my Hainanese Chicken. My friend ordered the Roti Canai with Lamb Curry and the Chicken Satay. We both agreed that the Roti Canai did not have a lot of taste. The chicken satay was ok. The potion sizes are MASSIVE. We appreciated the fast and efficient service. Given the low prices, we were overall very pleased with our dinner.
T. R.
I craved the food from my holiday in Singapore so I looked up this gem. The taste was on point on all the dishes we had but pricing and portion sizes were a bit all over the place. The Laksa was big enough for two people whilst the chicken rice was appetizer size. Iced coffee was half the price of a main course. Nevertheless a very good experience.
s. q.
Tasty authentic malaysian flavours. If ever around the area, this is a must visit place! This starter platter stays UNDEFEATED! C'est le MAGNIFIQUE!
S. T.
big portion, price was okay but food wasn't as nice as before. salted egg prawns more oily couldn't even taste the salted egg, sambal beans was nice but too much oily. roti canai was so good! I wish you would do sweet one with banana as dessert one day?!
S. R.
My favourite restaurant! Have been coming here for years and it never fails to impress. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have the hardest time trying to choose what to eat!
V. W.
This is a small and cosy restaurant in China Town. It serves traditional Malaysian and Singaporean food at an affordable price. In my opinion, the food is not great. It's a bit bland and can be greasy. I think it's a place to fill your belly but not for someone who wants yo enjoy the their food.
d. m.
Food was delicious . We were served by a waitress called Yasmine who was very friendly and happy to recommend us her favourite dish . 100% would come again , highly recommend
C. B.
The dishes were a bit hit and miss. Beef Rendang was good, as was the Rotu Channai, but the chicken breast in noodles was sitting in too much sauce that tasted like cooked soy sauce.
Z. H.
Really lovely and helpful staff who were super friendly! Food was delicious and they gave very generous portions! Nice and cosy seating area.
N.
Came here 2 years ago for the first time and now it’s my usual go to in SOHO. If you want nice homely feeling and belly full food, this is the spot you need to go to.
Chicken Satay was nicely made, melts in your mouth, slightly under salted. Comes with the dip, thick and compliments the skews, but a bit low in flavouring.
Chicken rendang was brilliant, a hint of spice (heat), looks oily but isn’t much at all. Sticky Jasmine rice was well done, better than last time I had it.
Nasi Goreng was great, keropok was crispy and flavourful. Spicy shrimp fried rice, had “good” number for shrimps.
The fried chicken wings were a bit too crispy and dry. Also looked “too boney for wings”.
Sago Gula was the highlight. Although make sure to mix the milk up as the caramel sticks to the bottom and WILL hit your throat if you try to finish it at last. The pudding was excellent, perfect for any sweet tooth’s out there.

The roti canai was great, the laksa was just so-so, nothing special. Would like to return to try the beef rendang which they were out of when I visited as I heard that’s very good.

Clean place , good food... but be careful with spicy foods 😅
F. M.
Lovely small but very busy restaurant. Service was fast and prices very reasonable. I ordered an apple and mint drink and the prawn samba with plain boiled rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The portion was a good size for me but I don't like big meals. I would go again just to have that dish. Worth a visit if you are in Chinatown.
S. M.
Amazing food and great service. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. This is the best Malaysian food I've had in London. I’d recommend the roti canai, curry laksa, assam fish, cendol ice and kueh dadar.
M. G.
The food is really good. The laksa is Singapore style and is as smooth and coconuty as it is in SG only the cockles are missing. And they should offer the spicy sambal right from the start.
The Char Kway Teow is nearly as good as in malay and SG hawkers, nice consistency and good amount of prawns. It could have been a bit more lard and of course cockles.
Ipoh Hor Fun was great. We ordered only chicken. The soup was great so was the chicken.
Teh Tahrik was sweet and creamy.
Value for money was good too 8.95 for Char Kwey Teow and 11.95 for Laksa is responsible in my eyes.
If they would freshen up the looks of the restaurant and make it look less than a school cafeteria in the upper floor I would give it 5 stars.
V. A.
Great food, big portion. Tasted quite authentic. The waiter was nice to let us order though it was a bit late. Would come again!
A. T.
Great quality authentic Malaysian Chinese food. Highly recommend their Hainanese chicken rice and wat tan hor. Now that they have simplified the menu, the quality has improved.

I was visiting London from the states for 5 days and ended up coming here twice for Malaysian food. Good Malaysian food is hard to come by where I'm from so I didn't want to miss the opportunity to try more menu items here! Kind and quick service, but come early or during off hours to avoid waiting for a table.
C. Y.
The food is getting much better now compared to the previous one.. I tried their Grilled Sambal Stingray, Kangkong Sambal and Beef Satay. It was really good.. Highly recommended
D.
Amazing food & staff were lovely (especially Alice)
M. S.
Great food, service and price! Under rated gem.
J. H.
Rasa Sayang has superb customer service but is let down by the food. I say this because we didn’t even need to raise the fact one of our dishes hadn’t arrived yet; the waitress noticed herself and duly updated us. Now the curry laksa, while generous in portion, had only a few lesser-than-fresh-looking prawns. Good flavour and at one chilli rating, was mild enough for a non-spicy eater such as myself. The set menus are excellent value if you want to have a main & dessert!
C. W.
First time having Malaysian food & it was amazing! Cannot attest to authenticity but the food was very flavorful & the menu was very big with lots of options that we needed the waiter to help recommend what to get. Good service, great food, def recommend.
S. A.
Omg. Amazing!!!!!!! The best Malaysian food in the UK I would say. Every dish we ordered was bang on the mark. We've been there 3 times with friends or family and each time they have been blown away by the food. The food is also halal so give it a try! We're already craving for more ....
(UPDATE - OCT 2019) I came to review them with 5 stars, but for some reason I couldn't. Then I realised it's because I had already reviewed them and I concur with past me. We went again last week and omggggggg AGAIN it was soo good. If you like your food spicy, ask for some fresh chillies and chuck them in! I am currently sitting in Antalya on holiday, thinking about Rasa Sayang's food!
J. S.
Nice, fast and quite cheap Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown. It has the maximum rate of food hygiene something to take into account as other places nearby they have a very low rate.
Nasi lemak didnt seem very authentic with curry chicken so I went for some noodles and they were nice. They have vegetarian options.
T. B.
Love this place. I've come here multiple times and the food always tastes soo good.
F. S.
Absolutely delicious! Owned and run by very lovely people. Hats off to the chef and the crew. I highly recommend this spot if you're in and around Central London. Its also certified Halal!
M. M.
Always wanted to try this place out and finally had a chance. The Nasi Lemak was creamy and delicious. The Hainan chicken rice was flavourful. I wasn't disappointed at all.
E. c.
Really polite staff and authentic food. We ordered the seabass curry where the fish was nice and soft but could have done with more seasoning. We also ordered Roti Canai and Beef Rendang which was so good it gave us Malacca nostalgia :( We'll definitely be eating here again ^_^
T. K.
So my love for Hainan chicken rice is like next level which is my staple when I visit Singapore. However I never thought I would find an authentic chicken rice in london which is also Halal! The beef rendang was brilliant as well, full of flavours. The price is very reasonable for the quantity and authenticity. I think I found my go to comfort food restaurant in London 👌🏽👌🏽
J. C.
A fantastic no frills restaurant on the edge of Chinatown serving Malay and Singaporean food at very reasonable prices.
It’s definitely not a date night restaurant so be prepared to be squashed in but that’s part of the experience. In return, you get some fantastic food, served quickly for a very reasonable price.
The curries are deep in flavour and the meat is so tender. However, the pièce de résistance is hands down, the Hainanese Chicken Rice. This is a traditional dish of poached chicken in a delicious savoury sauce, with rice cooked in the poaching broth, with a side of soup and the most wonderful ginger and spring onion dipping sauce. It’s South East Asian comfort food to the extreme and simply a delightful dish.
S. P.
In the heart of Chinatown, quite busy from the afternoon right until late night. Be prepared to queue. And you’ll have to wait for your order to come, the service is polite and efficient. The interiors are plain and simple and the food is good, but not great - both in taste and presentation.
A. D.
We visited on a Thursday during lunch. The restaurant was busy and we had a short wait.
The restaurant was busy but it was freezing as the front door was consistently being opened and closed.
The staff were very brisk and there wasn’t much in the way of hospitality.
The restaurant was very clean and so were all the glasses, plates and cutlery.
We ordered a few starters which were of average price and average taste. I ordered the nasi goreng and my husband ordered the crab dish with jasmine rice. The dishes were slightly disappointing. The nasi goreng (standard dish) did not have a richness or depth of flavour nor was it spicy. The crab was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and it too was lacking in flavour, the sauce the crab came in was over- seasoned and slightly congealed (perhaps due to too much egg yolk). My husband wasn’t able to eat much of the crab and I ended up sharing my nasi goreng with him.
I don’t think we will be coming back.
S. L. L.
Love the bubur caca and chicken rice the most!!! £4.5 for a little bowl of bubur caca, well tbh it is really pricey. With that amount i can buy one large bubble tea. But, it is very delicious and authentic, both the bubur caca and the chicken rice! Must try the chicken rice, they will give you chilli and garlic which compliment well with the rice. Rice is in a huge portion, worth it, £8.9 per dish. Will definitely come back again. Not so crowded like other Malaysian restaurants but still you can taste the authentic dishes from Malaysia
R. S.
Nice experience. The food is good enough, the service is great (the waiter was helpful when I requested to switch the shrimp fried rice into chicken fried rice), and the toilet is also very clean. Just a little crowded, so expect to wait a little while (~10 mins) to get a seat during peak hour. Recommended place to eat.
S. N.
In London with my sister and was craving Malaysian food. This place was perfect. Enjoyed the Nasi Lemak and some Teh Tarik.
H. Z.
A nice restaurant. The ambience itself feels a bit like a canteen, and I would recommend booking ahead to avoid waiting. The staff are all pretty nice, and service was extremely quick.
There's a good variety of food, albeit mostly seafood. Would like to see the set menu offer a bit more variety. I got the rice and satay chicken I ordered tasted nice, although it was slightly too oily for my liking. The rose syrup drink was also nice, but a little too sweet.
The portion sizes are just right, and it's reasonably priced. Overall, will visit again!
k. A.
Had to wait a little for our tables to be cleaned up but as soon as we entered we knew the Rasa Sayang experience had started, the food was very nice and very well cooked for a picky eater like me, Alice was definitely a shining star she always had a smile on her face was very friendly and kept us informed about our food and drinks and made sure to explain the menu to us. WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK.
J. L.
Yes they served real authentic Malaysian food, but sadly it is not a good as what you get in Malaysia. A proper Satay chicken should be charged grilled on charcoal, not deep fried.
L. J.
Really lovely staff, good atmosphere, very clean, the new interior is cool. With more vegetarian options it would be 5 stars from me! Thanks for a great meal!
B. R. W.
Love this place. Everything was so yum and really big portion. Want to go back there again.
N. C.
Amazing singapore and Malaysian food as always, almost always visit once whenever I’m in London!
L.
First time trying here via Uber takeaway.
We had:
Char Kway Teo
Pan Fried Carrot Cake (actually made of mooli)
Chicken Satay
Roti Canai with curry sauce
Coconut rice
Everything was very nice and the portions were huge - doesn’t look it in the picture but the noodle and mooli were huge.
Highly recommend.
k. m.
It was very nice place. I can say the tastes are equivalent to what we have in Malaysia/Singapore. Its just that the gravy was not spicy. Everything else are superb.
Standard breakfast set for the local Malaysian. Nasi Lemak + Teh Tarik. Awesome!
H. X. W.
Went there with my mum. Loved the nasi lemak coconut rice. Ordered char kuey teow however slightly disappointed. Tasted too salty and the flat noodles too thick n chewy. Surprised that it has “wok hei” which is hard to find in other Msian restaurant. Will come back again anyway.
B.
Taste good, reasonable price and generous portion! Decent Asian restaurant in central London.
H. B.
The food was ok. Contents of the Laksa were a little scarce compared to the same dish I eat in Australia, it was also a bit bland. We had to queue outside so it's popularity was obvious. Not sure I would eat there again if I found myself in London's Chinatown.
H. Y.
Delicious food and excellent service, we will well look after by Alice, we enjoy the meal so much, will definitely come back again :)
P. M.
Very tasty Malaysian food. Excellent Nasi Lemak!
S. A.
Great Malaysian/Singaporean food, reasonably priced. Halal. Casual dining place but clean, great staff and fast service. Highly recommended.
Beef Rendang is to die for!
A. Z.
This restaurant offered me one of the best experiences I've had with east Asian cuisine in this area. It wasn't intimidating like most of its competitors, and the food was served very quickly, to a high quality. I had the five spice chicken noodles in prawn gravy and it was extremely tasty, and a good size too, for under 9 pounds. They also did a lovely rose drink. My friend said she wasn't too keen on the boiled chicken she was served and found bones in it though.
Service was attentive and efficient although could've been slightly friendlier. The atmosphere was also more like a canteen than a restaurant, with its wooden tables and chairs, and bright spot lights and white walls. A little more attention to decor, and simmer lighting could go a long way in my opinion.
A side note - the toilets were very clean!
Overall, would recommend if you're looking for a cheap and tasty meal in the area
J. S.
As a Malaysian I can fully endorse this restaurant. Absolutely loved everything served here because of how close to home it tasted like. The only item I wasn't quite fond of was the Chendol but eh, nobody out of Penang can get it right anyways. Prices are also quite fair for the quality, plus the place is clean and friendly. 10/10
J. W.
Some hits and misses. Attentive staff. But do also value lone diners - they are ambassadors for your eatery too. Quite a few times after I have been shown a table, I was then asked to move to another one - NO! Nasi lemak was OK, chicken rice had overcooked chicken - as I understand it, it's poached chicken
A. J.
Rasa Sayang served Halal food in Chinatown and I have been there twice. The first one, my Malaysian friend introduce me, I ordered a Mee goreng. Do not expect the mee goreng would be sweet and spicy, the color may be dark but it's actually not really sweet and spicy. However, for only 8 Pounds, you'll get worthy dishes and you'll come back here eventually for Malay/Singaporean dish.
H. G.
Really nice place to get some southeast asian food. The price is affordable and the staff was nice. I would come again next time. There are a lot more seatings available downstairs
F. W.
Been here many times, love the mooli cake and laksa. Friendly staff, quick service. Can’t sit inside for too long as they are always busy and would expect you to leave when you finish your food. But food wise they are honestly great!
B.
my girlfriend assures me her hainanese chicken was really nice, so maybe try that? however regarding my nasi lemak, it was below par tbh. The chicken was 80% bone, of the 3 lumps i was only able to salvage any normal amount of meat from 1 piece. the rice and sauce were fine, pretty standard for nasi lemak. so overall not too impressed
i asked for the bill from a waiter and he walked away and didnt come back for 15 minutes, and i then had to ask again.
and then this is just a pet peeve, i dont think its a good look to put the total + service charge in larger font at the bottom than the actual total
v. d.
If you fancy Singaporean or Malaysian cuisine this is the right restaurant for you . So many choices and great taste as well. Value for money and good service.
J. H.
I don't understand Indonesian or Malaysian food well enough to review this restaurant with any real authority, but as a complete novice in this field I found the food was tasty, very reasonably priced and made an interesting break from the norm. Several vegetarian options on the menu, some involving tofu - I think the tauhu bakar was probably my favourite of the three dishes I tried. Service was friendly and welcoming. Tables very close together but given the style of restaurant it didn't seem to matter.
S. R.
While the prices here were about 5x the price in Singapore, the taste of the chicken rice and char kuey teow reminded me of Singapore! It was nice to have a taste of Singapore food again, and I would eat the chicken rice here again! The har cheong gai was quite dry though... for me at least.
D. T. d. G.
happy to have some proper Malay food. Even if the venue itself isn't "fancy" the food is worth the trip. Proper spicy hot and delicious. we had the Beef Rending, Sambal prawns and Me Goreng.
They are also have chilli Crab.....but my wife wanted something more substantial. Worth the visit.
R. V.
Unassuming Malaysian dishes in a cheap yet cosy setting. The carrot cake stir fry is a must. Avoid the satay.
R. Y.
We went there because we found out that it was Halal Malaysian restaurant. I had beef redang with rice and the bread. The food was awesome, staff was good. Next time i am in London, i ll definetely go there again.
F. C.
Good food and reasonably priced. I ate in the middle of the road on a summer Saturday night.
J.
Singaporean and Malaysian verified. (Nasi lemak, roti chennai, satay can be improved, else laksa, cha kway tiao all good)
A. K.
Superb food, great service
S. K.
10/10!!!! I cannot recommend enough! Every dish was incredible and cooked to perfection 😍 The roti cannai is beautifully fluffy and crispy!

Visited: 10/01/2020
Atmosphere: compact Malaysian restaurant over two floors, can be loud at peak times but pleasant outside busy hours , tables slightly more spaced out downstairs
Food: reasonable prices, food served hot, flavourful and tastes close to authentic, portions are filling
Service: friendly staff, quick service
P. B.
Really enjoyed my meal here. Food is reasonably priced, varied and quick service.
Though the fruit juice is too expensive and they could do with having the heating on. Was quite chilly.
G. C.
We have booked a dinner through their website prior to the targeted day. We arrived to the restaurant and I mentioned that we have a booking. We had a sit indoors which is not a great place. I received a mail stating that our booking was cancelled after this but I didn't pay attention at all. We have ordered in just a few minutes which is awesome! They initially served us cold drinks instead of hot drinks but they have sorted this out immediately. All the dishes we had ordered were not great at all, too flat taste, nothing special to justify the hype in the reviews. Moreover we believe that all the dishes were quite pricy for what they offer. In general we didn't feel that we ate something special, not better than an ordinary delivery. Last but not least, the staff was extremely kind and willing to serve us in any way, thanks a lot!
F. Y.
Great authentic Malaysian food, great service and lots of tables on the basement level, though there are tons of people so it might be good to book in advance. Definitely will come back again!
J. L. M. C.
First time having Malay/Singaporean food here with my boyfriend in London ☺️ Food is quite nice (I’m writing a review as a record but yeah the food is really p nice)
T. R.
Food was too bland despite requesting them to make it a little spicy. Staff one of the waitresses wasn’t very polite. Girl who took the order was really helpful. I was asked to pay for extra peanut sauce for my chicken satay, I requested for it as it was really dry.
V. A.
No words!!!..well amazing yummy spicy ..... service is still very good ... family run and the younger staff are friendlier.... anyway we came for the food and they never let us down everytime... love love love this place.
A. H.
Lovely waitress Yasmine served my table, she was really attentive and sweet
K. K.
Service was great. We had the Beef Rendang with jasmine rice and it was really tasty!
W. Y.
Great food!!! Very friendly staff. Normally there is queue but it's moving fast.
J. C.
Everything was very tasty and good value. We tried two classic dishes, the Char Kway Teow and the Roti Canai, I would definitely recommend both.
R.
Halal malaysia food
Very tasty food.. loved it.
K. C.
Great place to have a group dinner with friends. Food is delicious and comes out super quick.
L. W.
Beef rendang was so tough! But grilled sting Ray is quite authentic and brought back memories of home (Singapore). Kopi was good.
n.
really good malaysian food, the roti canai was especially nice- so hard to find in england, and they nailed it!
S.
A lovely restaurant with a very quick service the food was here fast and very tasty what ask of more? Many choices of course and Halal so very very good 👍🏻👍🏻
V.
Cannot recommend this place enough the food here is 10/10 the service is very quick you won't regret it.
P. S.
Very nice, authentic Malay Restaurant, great food and fast service. Very busy place!
S. P.
Alice is the best waitress ever. We were so happy from her speedy service. 10/10 would recommend.
P. J.
Love your Malaysian food?, get here soon for good value authentic dishes.
M. G.
Not sure if I ordered the wrong dish but the lor mee was underwhelming. Broth had hardly much flavour and lacked any depth. Dishes are fairly priced though. Would re-visit to try other dishes.
A. A.
Lovely food, great staff. Plus it is halal
s. n.
In and out that’s there best way to describe this little place. Food comes very fast and it’s tasty however a bit stingy on the meat.
M. X. T.
It was a nice place, and have a variety of Malaysian food. The Lor Mee I ate was a little too salty in my opinion, and the Bandung cincau was way too sweet.
R. V.
Great Malaysian food. The fried carrot cake is delicious, as is the gado-gado.
L. N.
Used to be my favourite restaurant in London until I realised they discriminate their customers. I called to ask if I can book a table and was told that it’s walk-in only, when I came in some tables were reserved (?) and the gentleman asked if I got a reservation and I told him I have called but couldn’t book. He said then I just have to wait 2 hours or so.
H. T. (.
This is one of Chinatown's most consistent gems; I've never had a bad meal at this restaurant and have fond memories of the friendly and good-humoured waiters here, the delicious food, and the happy times I've dined out with family and friends.
You couldn't do better than a tasty Kon loh mee (egg noodle, try with Hainan chicken) and the Nasi lemak is strong if plain (it needs more sambal!) Prices for those dishes are £9.50, which is about average for the restaurant, and decent for Chinatown. Beef rendang is pretty good, and they serve a very nice Hokkien mee. As for dessert, the Sago gula melaka and Kueh dadar are totally gorgeous.
Only gripe from my fairly limited experience (I always order the same things as I got my favourite dishes!) is that the hot lemon tea is very small and afaik, is not bottomless. Otherwise, it's bright, clean, friendly and serves a straightforward menu that dazzles.
Highly recommend!
L. W.
After not being here in several years. I can say the food and customer service is still top notch. Always consistent. Thanks
G.
Lovely and cosy, Service was good and food did come quickly and tasted great only one on the dishes was only not hot enough.
S. G.
Every time a simple, but delightful experience. This time the team was very very busy and the chicken was almost done. The roti was amazing and so was the carrot cake
L. L.
Prawn mee taste good with a mild heat but the prawn and squid were slightly lacking in flavour. Fast eat out with decent prices though.
S. H.
Food quality and atmosphere has improved since refurbishment. Excellent service and delicious food!
V. B.
My first time at a Malay restaurant. The food was full of flavours and spices. Definitely going there again.
L. S.
My wife and I had dinner at the rasa saying restaurant. It was our first time there and we were very happy with our meal.
My wife is half Malaysian and we’ve travelled to the country many times, including getting married there. The food at Rasa Sayang fares very favourably with that we’ve eaten in Malaysia and Singapore.
We shared a Roti Channai and a Satay Chicken for starters. Both were very good and pretty spicy (chilly hot), which is how we like it. For mains we shared a Hainanese Chicken Rice, which, although not quite as good as what we’ve had in Malaysia, was nonetheless excellent for the UK. Alice was our server and she and the rest of the team were quick, efficient and friendly.
All-in-all, this was a very tasty introduction to Rasa Sayang and my wife and I can’t wait to return for round 2!
H. C.
Amazing food...great menu and lovely staff team.
N. G.
The best halal Malaysian restaurant in the Middle of Soho. Food was delicious 😋 the service was great. Staff are very friendly especially our waitress Alice. Made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend.
R. R.
Got the kway teow and while it doesn’t taste as good as the standard fare in Singapore or Penang, it made this Singaporean boy slightly happier. Service is good and portions match the price.
T. Z.
The laksa is really good and flavourful, with a huge portion size. The chicken wings as starter were also a good flavour. However, was a bit disappointed with the roti canai as the roti seemed more like a regular porota rather than the fluffy, flaky, buttery bread that I had at Roti King
J. P.
We went here on the first Friday after restrictions were lifted, to say it was manic would be a huge understatement! Despite that the serving staff were absolutely fantastic and the food came out incredibly quickly.
The dinner was great, such an awesome mix of flavours and textures. Alice made sure we felt like we had a special amount of her attention despite coping with the craziness of Soho on the first Friday out of lockdown.
Would definitely recommend
P. R.
Very authentic Malaysian cuisine. Good quick service too
S. A.
The food was good and the price was reasonable. My favorite was the seafood noodles.
S. H.
Food is good you get what you get, thanks Alice. Recommend the roti and beef rendang but it is spicy and flavoursome !
L. L. K.
Alice was very accommodating!
Food was great, service was good.
Highly recommend 👌
A. H.
Was alright but think it was overrated. Food was nice but I think I set my expectations too high based on other reviews I saw. They were understaffed on the day but my server was still very nice and was doing his best to wait and serve people in and outdoors, whilst also doing front of house duties.
I got the chicken curry with roti. Curry was alright but it was a small portion. I ordered extra roti as I didn't know how big the portion would be but didn't need it in the end.
My mrs got the nasi goreng. She enjoyed her meal. Her egg was runny as requested but the white was still snotty (white bit of egg undercooked).
My daughter had the flat noodles with beef. Was a bit greasy but was okay.
We decided to sit outside under their canopy but I think that was a bad idea as it was a Friday night the very night before, which meant it smelt strongly like urine on the streets, as its an area for going out for drinks. I'm sure if we had asked, they would have moved us inside so I can't complain. I'm just stating it to give others a heads up for where you decide to sit.
A. C.
Great restaurant! The staff is lovely and the food is simply amazing!
A. V.
Really good food and service. I ordered the Roti Canai based on reviews here and it was delicious.
Enjoyed the food, prices are very reasonable for central london and service and ambience was excellent.
Only lost a star because the bathrooms were not as expected and were quite dirty.
Overall excellent experience and would definitely recommend!
H. F.
We have been regulars here for about 8 yrs now. The food here is the best and very reasonably priced. The best stuff to try here are: Chilli Crab, Prawn Mee goreng, beef rendang, chicken satay,
Arguably the best Chinese, Malaysian restaurant for food in Soho..
F. M.
Friendly staff and the food was awesome
I am defo going back x
M. T.
The food was delicious, proper Malaysian food. The curry chicken beef rendang and sambal kangkonh is spicy enough to take you back to the feel of Malaysia.. and now dine on the street.. ahh.. really feels like eating at the hawker in Malaysia 🇲🇾.. love it.
S. V.
The food is delicious ! And the staff really lovely. 10/10 will recommend
H.
I wish I took a picture because the food was amazing!! Really delicious, I couldn't stop eating although I was full! Was served by Alice yesterday who was incredibly kind and lovely, gave very good recommendations when we couldn't pick.
G. S.
Great food and quick hawker style service. The Roti Canai is excellent served warm, crispy and fresh, I love the laksa but be warned it comes with a few juicy prawns and has a richer prawn stock (many other use chicken stock to appeal to an English audience). Overall a great place to eat.
M. S.
Great food, service and price! Under rated gem.
A. N. S.
Food is amazing but music playing in the restaurant is way too loud! Hard to enjoy food and conversations.
M. H.
A great restaurant with taste of South Eastern Asia especially of Malaysia and Singapore 🇸🇬. The dishes are authentic and taste as if cooked in Malaysia. The staffs are very helpful and the service is fast.
M. C.
Still the same quality of food since since I had my first date with now I called my husband !
A. M. S.
Good quality but food its very small portion.
V. K.
Excellent night trying delicious Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine. These were some of the nicest staff at a restaurant I've ever had! We had a group of 20+ people and the restaurant was so accommodating and kind. They food was to die for. The ambiance was really pleasant and memorable. Everyone had such a great time and many had an excellent first introduction to Malaysian / Singaporean food! I recommend this place so much! Thanks Jay and the team!
S. S.
Alice was great!! She was really fun and helpful. Would gladly recommend the place
S.
I like Rasa to a point. I love the fried wontons and the wonton soup. I'm sad they don't serve the marmite chicken anymore. Flavours aren't always consistent but it is a good middle of the road restaurant.
W. v. G.
Delicious Malaysian food, highly recommend the roti canai and the rendang
J. K.
Delicious spicy crab noodle soup! Great value and quick service. Yummy, must visit!!!
N.
We went there for dinner. Ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice (HCR), Char Koay Teow (CKT), Nasi Lemak, Achar and Roti Canai. The chicken and soup for the Hainanese Chicken Rice are good. The chilli sauce was the proper HCR chilli sauce, not one from a bottle. The rice can pass as chicken rice. The nasi lemak was above average, with a mild chicken curry. The achar (cucumber, carrots, pineapple) had the right texture, crunchy and not watery, but not sour and mainly tasted a bit spicy from the chillies used. Tasted as if it did not have enough vinegar or other usual achar ingredients (like lemongrass, galangal, shallots) to give it that achar awak taste. Their CKT had big prawns, fishcake slices and plump taugeh. It tasted more sweet fried than savoury smoky fried but at least not wet or too oily. Their CKT is halal, so if you are after the authentic pork lard fried CKT, this is definitely not it. Roti Canai was okay, but not better than Roti King. Have not tried their satay, so no idea about the taste but it did look good. Nice atmosphere inside with lots of nostalgic posters of old kopitiam items ( like calendars, tiffins and coffee cups). Clean and good service.
R. H.
Fantastic wholesome malaysian food. I had the ginger prawns which were lovely with the rice, would definitely revisit. Also Portion sizes are pretty generous
D.
Amazing food & staff were lovely (especially Alice)
P. L. Y.
The curry laksa is good enough since I've been away from Malaysia
j. c.
Reasonable price
Delicious
Authentic
Quick service
Not intimating
Friendly
I always visit rasa whenever I miss Malaysian food
J. N.
Amazing Malaysian restaurant.
Roti Canai and Char Kuey Teow are surpringsly delightful!
If you like to try something a bit different for the palette get the "Wat Tan Hor" (noodles with a mixed meat gravy).
Would come back day after day.
J.
New review after the reopen/refurb. FYI I used to visit regularly over the years and is basically my go-to in China Town.
Nicer decor. Nothing special but I like how easy it is and doesn't try to be trendy flower walls or stuff. It's simple, I like it for that reason. I didn't see downstairs though. Wobbly tables though, was worried my precious teh tarik would spill, and it would've with a moderate nudge of the table.
The food is still plenty delicious. However, I definitely noticed the Singapore laksa portion is much smaller than before. Honestly, the portion itself is fine for me though there could've been more noodles for sure, but for the price of £13.90 + service charge? It's honestly now even _more_ expensive than the original portion size was i.e. even less value for money.
I feel I may be eating here less as the prices are on the high side while the portions dropped, and to be fair, that is the entirety of central London (which is a joke, but that's a different topic). So although the food is tasty, the price-to-portion value leave more to be desired.

The food is good but the waiting time are way too long

I highly recommend their NASI LEMAK dish. Other items on their menu is great as well. Excellent value.

Great place, wonderful service and authentic Malaysian food

Decent Malaysian meal. I'll stick to C&R.

Food. Service. Best cheap eat in China town. Love it everything i go.
V. L.
The service was decent and the food was delicious. The amount was decent and the taste was nice. Very busy and popular
C. L.
Amazing food! Definitely will be coming back in the future.

There is a reason why people queue up and especially on a weekend. The food is tasty, decently priced and of course busy. I celebrated my aunts birthday with a party of 8 and yes at times the waiters were busy serving both upstairs and downstairs. But they managed to come and deliver things we requested politely. But the wait was worth it. And the staff were lovely. I've been to restaurants where it was busy, and the staff were horrible. The staff here made us feel welcomed and made my aunt feel special on her 60th. So got a loyal customer here. Also the food. Again. It was delicious. Just reserve if you don't want to wait.

Always delicious food and nice t-shirt

I had the pleasure to taste some dishes in Rasa Sayang last week and they were exquisite: special mention for the coconut rice which melted in my mouth which is watering just as I write these words 😅
Alice was the one who took care of us: she is very sweet and worked proactively to deliver the best service during our entire diner. A special thanks to her and to the man (manager?) who accommodated us so nicely by making room for our shopping bags when he noticed they were on the floor and by charging our 3 phones 🤩
I definitely recommend this great place for its delicious food, the warmest welcome and the efficiency of the staff!
Thanks a lot guys and see you around 🌻

Ordered the roti canai with chicken curry. Tasted amazing and very authentic. Only downside is the portion size for this dish is quite small for the price.
Good value for money would be the nasi lemak. You get a lot more food!
D. h. P.
Fantastic traditional Singaporean/Malaysian chilli & garlic chicken with rice, very tasty and freshly prepared. Brenda goes above and beyond for the customer service. Highly recommended👍👆
J. C.
Haven't been here for over two years but the food is still pretty authentic and despite the increase in price, is still good value for money.
D. K.
Extremely kind staffs and amazingly tasty food! Their foods are so addictive i will go again very soon :)
M. L.
An absolute London/Soho gem, flavoursome and fun South East Asian food served in a casual setting, and at a great price. One of my favourites in London. Get the Laksa!
M. L.
Exceptional place the food is amazing a special thank you for Alice she served us with a big smile
M. M.
Teh tarik was good, food was.just OK.. food is not as good it use to be but can recommend Mee Goreng. Best out of the 4 dishes we had.
Q. A.
One of the best starters I've ever had wonton and Satay chicken were phenomenal. The mains of Beef Rendang and Roti Canai with Curry Chicken was bursting with flavour. Definitely a must try of London.
l. w.
Authentic taste of Malaysian and Indonesian food at reasonable prices. Loved the beef rendang! Good service.
S. P.
They might have changed their cook in 2018. It is not as authentic as in 2017 (speaking from a Singapore perspective). Not necessarily less tasty though.
K. S.
My favorite Malaysian restaurant in all of London! The new location has a more hip/upscale feel than the last and is every bit as delicious as I remembered. Staff is lovely! The big outside area was very nice too
M. O.
I have been here a few times now and the food is consistently amazing, always managing to impress anyone new that I bring and the atmosphere is lovely. A big thanks to Alice as well for being a great host!
A. Y.
Recommended by our friends from KL. Apparently very authentic! We loved new place much brighter and easier to find. The food is amazing and take away services were very friendly! Five stars
K. O.
Lor Mee was tasty, but the Singapore laksa noodles soup tasted rather watered down and disappointing.
O. Y. (.
Very good with large portions to its price compared to other places. It has a fine selection of Chinese-Malay cuisines with vegetarian and spice level choices. Food doesn't really com quickly but one does not need to wait for long for food after ordering. The restaurant itself is not stuffy nor cold, and it's food is delicious especially their dessert. Service is friendly and casual too.
However, waiting times for seating is long especially on weekends due to its popularity. Do go earlier if in large groups.
A. S.
Delicious authentic food
great service even when they are busy
Value for money
c. s.
They fitted us in, even tho they closing soon😁. But the creamy coconut chicken curry was so spicy hot my hubby had to swap meals with me🤨
C.
My humble opinion on their Malaysia food is just an average. It is not bad but not as delicious as the review by others. In term of their service wise, can be improved better because of their staff comes across less friendly and a bit fierce.
To sum up, this restaurant is a bit over-rated.
J. S.
Went to celebrate Singapore National Day at Rasa Sayang today and had amazing food and fabulous service. Shout out to Alice for being so attentive! Will be back
J. M.
Of all the dishes I've tried from the menu over this past year, one item I feel is not authentic is Nasi Goreng. The chicken that comes with this dish is never deep fried in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia. A piece of braised chicken in curry and, or skewers of chicken satay are usually served with this dish, but never deep fried chicken, and because the pieces are small, when they deep fry they turn hard like stone. The rice here was a bit dry too.
J. L.
Really great Malaysian food. Authentic
X. J.
Very nice laska and rice dishes
S. M.
The food was delicious and came out so quickly. Alice, who took our order provided us with amazing service from start to finish. She was passionate about the food and gave us so many brilliant recommendations. Will be returning soon.
S. C.
Old menu was much better. Shame to see the Lor Me no longer served here and also much fewer dessert options. Hopefully they will go back to old menu now indoor eating is allowed.
N. L. V. 倪.
Friendly and helpful stuff
Local Malaysian food
Please try their sago dessert
L.
Pretty nice food, and a good setting. Disappointed in the service. It was quite abrupt, and they wouldn't serve me a Nasi Lemak without chicken... Having lived in Indonesia/Malaysia for 3 years, this isn't very authentic - would be served as a vegetarian dish quite happily there! Go figure!
B. S.
Food quality is outstanding! However, due to lack of staff customer service was lacking. There was more than 20 minutes difference between the serving of each dish ordered and had to remind them too. Overall, the restaurant can easily be a 5 star if the customer service improves as the food is always fantastic.
A. Y.
Delicious food, fast service and everything is halal! If you want a malaysian fix while in chinatown, this is the place to go. Pictured are the starters, chicken satay, fried chicken and prawn wontons, and roti canai. All very yummy. For mains we had the beef rendang which was very flavoursome and the char kway teow. Would definitely come back and try some other dishes.
I.
The food was amazing! I loved the Satay. I didn't expect the food to be so flavoursome! Service was great, I literally blinked after ordering and my food was in front of me. The only downside is that I just wish the tables weren't so close together because it made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable however, the food made up for that. I definitely will be back!
M. M.
Great food with good price and huge portions. Waiters were nice.
T. T. R. L.
Reminds me of home. Delicacies of Malaysian hawker foods is widely available over here.
Recently ordered the Hainanese chicken rice and it was good. Portion is good, chicken is soft and rice is well cooked. Would give 4/5!
M.
Rasa Sayang is currently at its temporary home on Frith Street while the restaurant on Macclesfield street is under refurbishment.
The food and ambience are as wonderful as ever. As always my favourite, the Beef Rendang is wonderful (one of the best I've had) and looking around at other diners and their food it looked excellent and they were happy.
Special mention has to go to the friendliness of the staff. All staff were absolutely lovely in my visit today and Alice was brilliant and as sociable as ever. A nice welcoming smile and warm hearted people like Alice and the staff at Rasa Sayang is what London needs more of. Well done.
C.
Fantastic! I went there twice this week and will continue to come. The first time I came in the waiter with the glasses gave a great friendly and welcoming impression immediately. The rest of the staff are all friendly and considerate also. Lots of "thank yous" have been said which shows they have manners. Food always came so quick! love that. And obviously the food is amazing, the bubble tea is soo nice and fully flavoured, the food is quite a large portion and filling. However, maybe the desserts can be a bit cheaper or have bigger portions, such as the pancakes? And more dessert choices :) but other than that, the meals are quite affordable. Great place to eat.
J. “. !. S.
We wanted to find sonewhere to eat which wasn't too far off the beaten track and Rasa looked like a good place. I must say the food and service were excellent and I would definitely recommend if in Soho.
C. O.
Not need me to tell u what to do if you are Malaysian here... order All the food...Amazing Malaysian cuisine
M. J.
I have been coming here for a while as a place to catch up with mates! Admittedly, the place is small which can be a little frustrating when its very crowded but the staff are very nice and accommodating and I respect that they are busy for a reason.
Really good quality meals at a fantastic price considering. The have a variety of different dishes which has been well considered for their varied audience ... I have tried a few and thinking of them now makes my mouth water!
This place has become my gem ... really glad i found Rasa Sayang!
A. A.
the place was really good and food tasted amazing!!! Alice was especially good!
S. M.
Truly the highlight of our day, but for all the wrong reasons. Usually the highlight would be the food or the service, but this time the highlight was the in fighting between the staff! The missus and I came once before on a busier night and the service was still good. However it was quite apparent they had a new joiner this evening who was most likely causing more issues than they were actually helping with. We waited 30 minutes for our order and had to remind the staff about it. In addition, I had to eat my dish alone whilst my missus had to watch her dish firstly be incorrectly handed over to another table who came later, then watch the replacement dish sitting in the corner for 5 minutes whilst the trainee fetched a spoon! Still, nothing could have prepared us for the spectacular show we witnessed where the trainee kicked off back at the members of staff that fixed their errors! Truly remarkable! To cap things off, the trainee then had the nerve to ask us why we weren’t paying for the service charge!
In summary, come for the good food, stay for the show!
R. H.
Such good Malaysian food, makes me want to go back to KL!
G. R.
Alice was wonderful as always she knows the menu so well so helps us everytime we are here. A must for food lovers and thank you to Alice for taking care of us when we visit everytime.
S.
One of my favourite restaurants for authentic Malay food in London. I come here when I want home comfort food. Must try Wat Tan Hor, Char Kway Teow. Their roti is pretty good with delicious chicken curry. It gets busy quickly though!
M. K.
Quite authentic Asian food. I've had beef rendang and it tasted as good as in Malaysia. Busy little restaurant, bit dated decor but fully acceptable because food is nice and meals are below £10 :-)
Q. B. H.
Singapore food ! Amazing roti. A must try!
I. J.
Very authentic and excellent food, along with even better customer service. Lady called Alice was very helpful and gave my wife a FREE The tarik on the house as we were waiting for the bill! Will definitely visit again soon!
V. V. W.
Classic Malaysian dishes in this place! Only one floor and it's more like a canteen feel. Lots of regular customers. Try to sit away from the door if you can because of the chilly wind but the place is often full so you don't really get a choice of you walk in. Flavours of the food was nice but lack the wok hei in their noodle dishes. Reasonably priced. Did not notice high chairs for children and if you have a big buggy, it's going to be difficult.
A.
My wife and I found the customer service yesterday evening given by the waiter Hai to be very excellent, it was cold as the entrance was being repeatedly open and I mentioned this to Hai who offered his jacket more than once in order to solve the issue which improved our mood significantly. As of course, the restaurant was busy so we wouldn't have been able to move tables. In addition to this he was very attentive to our needs throughout our experience at Rasa Sayang. The food was great too! :)
K. T.
I have been going here for a few years. Food is consistently good and authentic Malaysian. There are always Malaysians eating in there so I am sure I am not alone in thinking how good the food is. It can get really busy so be prepared to queue for a table.
H. H.
First time trying Malaysian food. As I was unfamiliar with their cuisine, I decided to order from the set menu. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what I ordered, nor do I have a photo. But I enjoyed it - despite it being very spicy for me to handle xD. The curry was lovely.
The Pandan pancake was soft and sweet. Although I’m not a big fan of coconut, I do love the added desiccated coconut flakes and palm sugar.
The Iced Bandung Cincau was exceptionally sweet, but it was a treat to the tastebuds.
Service was okay, although it did take a while for my food to arrive. The staff were lovely.
Would recommend to try
E. S.
Great tasting Chinese’s food for a decent price, a very busy place but well worth the short wait.
S. O.
Lovely little place. If you have ever eaten food in the far east and would love to have the same experience here in the UK, this is the place for you! Very tasty food. Funny the order doesn't come all together, but it's fine if you read this and expect it. And expect to be placed next to someone you don't know, because as I wrote, it is a little place -Who cares though, the food is lush and well worth it!
D. K.
Great restaurant, some of the best malay food I've had, service was awesome as well, shout out to Alice in particular,-deserves a bonus!
A. J. I. (.
Excellent service. Great food. And very reasonably priced. Get the shared grill for 2 (or 4). It's so delicious.
T. C.
Absolutely love this place. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The best Malaysian food I've had in London. I;d recommend the roti canai, curry laksa, assam fish, cendol ice and kueh dadar.
R. N.
This is my first Malaysian food so I don't know how authentic they are but the food I had was very nice and would eat it again. The only complaint I have is that some of the waiters/waitress could be more happy when facing their customers. A little smile would help.
S. M.
Had the barbecue and a range of mains which were all excellent as usual. This is my goto place for Malaysian food in London.
M. W.
Estimable Malaysian grub served here, the nasi lemak is good value.
A. E.
Great and authentic Malaysian food and drink at a good price
J. K.
Super flavourful Laksa. Loved it.
R. R. T.
Just discovered this great place. Halal Malaysian restaurant with an amazing menu and great tasting dishes, friendly staffs, modest atmosphere. Speedy service as its very busy. A great place for a fulfilling meal for the locals and visitors alike. Reasonably priced. Try their beef Rengdang 👌
P. B.
Sadly the score gets dragged down to 3 stars, the food was quiet nice but not quite like what i had in Malaysia or Singapore, my starter was served after my main but the worst aspect was the cold and indifferent service from the serving staff. In the end my payment wasn't collected from the table so i had to go to the front counter to pay, only then when I spoke some bahasa Malaysia did I get some friendly acknowledgment. I know a place about 2 minutes walk that has similar regional cuisine, will stick to there Tl:dr food quality is great but service is lacking
C. G.
We came for the first time looking for something similar to ramen, however the experience was different and attractive. The food has personality and the flavors are intense. The atmosphere is vibrant and even though you have to queue most of the times, service is fast and attention is perfect.
A. M.
Be prepared to queue on weekends especially if its more than 2 of you. When you get a table the service is brisk but polite. The food was slightly disappointing : the roti canai even as a starter has an accompanying curry which is absurdly small, almost thimble like and is literally a thin paste. The satay kababs were not really bursting with flavour, and the peanut sauce far too sweet. The mains are a little better, although again there appeared to be too much sweetness to the rendang, probably due to excess coconut milk or cream usage. You couldn't really taste much of any other spices other than chilli.
They really struggle with keeping up with orders and we got served the mains well before the starters and had to hang around 20 min after finishing main to get starters. Add on the fact that one of us got served their food well before the other, it really puts a downer on things.
N. H. M. Z.
Amazing food and sagu gula melaka and roti canai is a must try!
R. H.
Loved the food. One of the best malaysian restaurant in London. Food are halal. They serves alcohol as well so bear that in mind. Price is reasonable especially if you consider the restaurant is in Soho. Good portion size. The restaurant has toilet facilities. Good seating facilities with option to seat downstairs. Waiters are very helpful as well.
J.
Lovely food, very authentic flavours. Their raffles laksa is full of flavour, really well done. Beef rendang melts in your mouth, and the assam fish curry is also incredibly tender.
Quick and polite service too, well worth stopping here if you're in China town
A. F.
Amazing authentic malaysian food. All halal. Super tasty! They serve meals that would be eaten back home according to people I was sitting next to. If you like hot and very flavoursome food this is the go to place.
D. C.
Locate centrally within China Town. Food was excellent, service is attentive, price is reasonable, ambience is great, very busy restaurant, clean and nicely decorated. Curious and was chatted to the staff to why they don't open downstairs but to turn customers away instead, really admire the answer / attitude, they were one staff short, so rather turning down customers by not opening downstairs of the restaurant until they are fully staff to ensure customers get a good service than money grabbing and giving below standard service. Well done, keep up the good work.
Z.
🥘Food is good. Service is good. Price is Okey to be a bit pricy as it is in China Town. The awkward thing is the way they put table for customers. If you order more than 2 dishes, definitely you will be struggling for spacing. And the tables are very closed each other and felt uncomfortable for customers.
D. W.
Fair service, staff very rushed however and keen to kick us out of the lower ground towards the end of our meal, as they said it was closing early for cleaning.
Decent food - had a really pretty good prawn and chicken noodle dish. Fairly average decor, certainly nothing special.
Very cheap for central London. Huge main dishes for £7.
M. R.
I visited on a Friday evening, when you would expect your food to take forever, however to my surprise the food was given promptly after ordering. My wife and I ordered the prawn curry which was ok, lacked in flavor, the satay chicken sticks which were very tasty, lamb reng dang was very nice. The serving size is very good! I would recommend this restaurant for Malaysian!
J. Y.
A good restaurant to experience authentic Malaysian food, place is usually packed so arrive early if you don’t want to queue outside the restaurant.
Food was all right, quality varies from dishes to dishes, but do try out for the sambal petai which was great! Due to the sheer amount of customers in the restaurant, service will be slow so patience is key.
K. T.
Great local place for quick beautiful taste of Malaysian/Singaporean dishes. The food is traditional and reminiscent of typical diners. The staff are friendly but be warned they are incredibly busy. Good quick service, great food. The laksa is a gem.
G. T.
I am always slightly less fond of this restaurant each time. I crave the food occasionally, but the service is basic (not quite rude, but rarely good) and canteen style seating can be a bit draughty. The menu is okay but a lot of things were unavailable this visit (strange, because they're 10 seconds from two Asian supermarkets), and although the cooking doesn't need any real finesse it still ruins my meal if I find prawns that haven't been de-veined. Malaysian food is incredibly tasty, and I see a lot of native expats and students eating there. I was also really insulted at £2 for a 200ml bottle of Coke (that's about half a can). What is the point, seriously?!. All of the (non alcoholic) drink prices are outrageous. The menu would benefit from a bit more range - I know there's more to Malay food than this - and expanding the set menu options (starter/main/dessert is fine, but why not adjust price to include any starter/main?). The whole place needs a bit of a revamp and retraining. Maybe they've lost a capable chef or something. They're always busy, so it's not as if they're desperate to hang on to a few regulars. The only Malaysian competition is the equally surly (but just as tasty and busy) C&R nearby in Rupert Ct. It's a real shame because I've seen a wider menu (and better food & service) in a Malay airport cafe overseas, so it's not a technical or logistical challenge. But sometimes you just need some coconut curry Laksa.
A. B.
The food was amazing. It was served in huge portions with reasonable prices. The customer service was quick too and they can accomodate huge families too as they are a 2 floors restuarants. Food taste near to authentic and definitely would love to come here again if stop by in London.
S. B.
Perfect all the time. Chilli chicken and beef rendang cooked to perfection. No one else can match their beef rendang! Current location is also great and spacious.
N. F.
Delicious food as usual! The only thing that annoyed me is that they didn’t clean the table after previous guests left and we sat down!
K. M.
One of my favourite places with great value food normally but AVOID during covid. Tables tightly packed with no screens, more so as they sat eight teens on a table for six next to us, no names taken so if there is an outbreak there's no contacting anyone. Only one staff member in a mask. Appreciate the need to make up after losses but this wasn't the way to do it.
R. S.
Lovely food, warm ambience, reasonable price.
A quaint little restaurant serving authentic Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine. Have visited several times and each time find the food to be enjoyable and the service impeccable, even during busy periods.
Well recommended for first timers as well as people who know their Malay and Singaporean cuisine.
L. A.
We had lunch here today based on recommendations from a number of friends who know what to expect from good Malay food. To put this in perspective - you wouldn’t go to Italy if you wanted to eat good Japanese food but when you live in England & you’re craving good Malay food, this is worth a day trip to London! The staff are friendly & helpful (thank you Alice), the restaurant & toilets are really clean and the food is 100% authentic! As a group of 4, we ate a roti canai with chicken curry, laksa x2 and a char kway teow - we’ll be back when we recover from our food comas!
B. K.
Loved the food! Beef rendang was excellent - maybe the best I've had, and my mother in law is Singaporean, so I've had a fair bit of rendang. But don't tell her I liked this one better! Strongly recommended!
M. S.
Simple and tasty Malaysian food with friendly staff what more could you want.
S. S.
One of the cheapest places around China town. Very tasty and friendly staff
N. K.
Delicious malaysian food and good service. Ambience nothing special.
R. M.
Small, but great food and nice people.
G. S.
Great food and quick hawker style service. The Roti Canai is excellent served warm, crispy and fresh, I love the laksa but be warned it comes with a few juicy prawns and has a richer prawn stock (many other use chicken stock to appeal to an English audience). Overall a great place to eat.
A. O.
This place had absolutely amazing food and service! We were there on the opening Friday after lockdown when it was sooo busy and was served by the amazing Alice!
A must to go to in Soho!
T. S.
Excellent food, bit pricey.
W. F.
Very authentic flavours in this delightful Singapore/Malaysian restaurant.
M. C.
Lovely staff. Great food for reasonable prices. They deserve every praise and the long queue outside the door proves the quality. Love your Hainanese Chicken ❤️
Q. A.
One of the best starters I've ever had wonton and Satay chicken were phenomenal. The mains of Beef Rendang and Roti Canai with Curry Chicken was bursting with flavour. Definitely a must try of London.
J. N.
A great place for Malaysian food footsteps from the West End - for under £10. I had the mask leemak which was a delicious platter filled with flavours and textures. The fried anchovies really give great salt and brine to the spiced, creamy sauce of the curried chicken.
Again, don't expect service à la Savoy. This is an Asian restaurant and the hurried/harried pace of it all and the need to call repeatedly for water is part of the charm of the culture.
R. M.
Large servings so although a main dish might be say, around £8 or so, it will fill you up. I love the char kway teow - no clams too. I've always hated clams 😅 Bandung is lovely. Always a busy place. If you miss Singaporean or Malaysian food, come here to get your fix.
Y. E.
All halal Malaysian. Everything was wonderful
P. M.
Genuine Malaysian restaurant. Our favourite place in Chinatown. Style reminiscent of food available in Thailand as well (we used to live in Thailand). Wide choice of meals, drinks or desserts. Generous portions so good value for money.
K. T.
My favourite place for Malaysian food in London! The staff are always friendly and food always taste fantastic. The price and portion size is great value too. Highly recommend if you want good authentic Malaysian food in London.
R. M.
Food was tasty but portion size was a bit smaller than I expected for the price.
K.
Not bad halal food. If you like Malaysian you will get some experience of Malay cuisine but more a cafe style. Some of the stuff you can see is from packets and heated, Pricing is OK. Worth a try.
D. C.
A Chinese-Malaysian restaurant serving all the staples of Malaysian cuisine including Laksa (curry mee), Nasi Lemak and cendol. The set menus cost up to £20 while individual dishes around £10 each. It’s not the cheapest place to dive into Malaysian food in town. However, given the variety available, it is perhaps one of the best place for someone new to the cuisine to try a few new things. The pace is slower than the other Chinese restaurants around and the staff is always friendly. I wouldn’t consider this a cheap eat venue but again given the limited space and restaurant seating, it’s not a particularly comfortable dining experience.
R. A.
We had
Chicken Hainanese : chicken slow cooked in delicious broth and served with fragrant rice. This with the chili sauce and garlic paste is just so flavourful
Curry Laksa: egg noodles served in a rich curry of fresh seafood! Just awesome... It's a bit heavy on the palate so be sure you come prepared. However the curry is just sensational.
In the winter months get a table downstairs or away from the main door it keeps opening and it becomes uncomfortable. Large portions are served and they offer takeaway!
m. a.
Chinese restaurant in China town but a little bit isolated from the others. When you look at it from outside it doesn't seem appealing. But food is amazing. And is served fairly quickly. It is very tasty and close to what I have tried in Beijing
C. O.
Authentic Straits food, just excellent
F. M.
For East Asian food in the Piccadilly Circus area this is one of the better choices. The serving sizes are generous, the quality of food is decent but nothing to write home about and the service is what you'd expect in a restaurant like this.
I ordered the nasi goreng and it came with a grand total of 2 prawns which, even for cheaper restaurants, is a bit of a pisstake. The satay chicken which it was served with was decent.
The prices are reasonable and roughly in line with the quality of the food so if you're after something quick and cheap then this is a great option.
It's a shame since it used to be a lot better but it's probably fallen victim to its own success.
Z. D.
Great halal food. Highly recommend coming here. Will come again!!
J. K.
The staff members were friendly but all the savoury dishes were far too sweet and overpowered by the sweetness.
P. W.
10/10 food very tasty , good portions and friendly staff. Definitely will be a regular at this amazing restaurant.
C. T.
Got recommended this place by a Malaysia friend, and it really didn't disappoint!! Authentic Singaporean and Malaysia dishes! Reasonable prices and quick serve. One of the best places to go when you get your Asian fried noodles crave!
P. P.
Small place with excellent food. Bit steep for a beer but food itself is well priced. Beef Rendang was amazing and they made a seafood-less Laksa for us because allergies weren't the issue. Roti Canai was a beautiful taste of being back in India/Malaysia! I will be back.
