Reviews of Red Dog Saloon - Hoxton Restaurant

Great portions, very tasty, totally recommend it!
I tried the sweet bourbon BBQ burger and it didn't disappoint me.
The cookie milkshake was very nice!
The venue and the atmosphere also nice and the staff very polite and helpful
I'll definitely visit them again soon

Been wanting to try this place for a while and tonight we were roaming around London quite late and this was conveniently open and nearby to where we were.
The ambience is great, music just suits the vibe of the place, staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and relatively quick service.
The burgers are SO GOOD, definitely one of the best burgers I’ve tried around London. We got a bbq platter of chicken wings (it was very dry but maybe because it was later on in the day it wasn’t as fresh) + chopped pork. Philly fries and guirella fries were nice too and perfect accompaniment with the burgers.
Overall great experience and will return at an earlier time of day!

Good BBQ meats. Generous portions. The cocktails were to die for. Fresh ingredients and delicious! Sunday night was a bit quiet but sure it's lively the rest the time. Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

The food here is fantastic, not to mention the actual restaurant itself, a really nice place to be. Staff were fantastic and service was really efficient given it was a Saturday night. I will 100% return here as this was a great place with really good prices considering quality of food and location of restaurant! We were served by Diana and she was amazing, I even pinky promised I’d leave this review lol! Thanks a lot

Love, Love ! Their burgers are so filling I can’t eat too much when I am there as there is so much meat in the burgers. Quality for money definitely worth it. Their mozzarella sticks and chicken wings are very tasty. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Looking for somewhere that does authentic BBQ is tough as most establishments reheat once smoked and that alters the flavour and textures however here… it’s insanely fresh. I indulged on a chilly Saturday afternoon and ordered a tray of hot links, brisket, chopped pork, pork ribs and a side of slaw. The food was very prompt and therefore I can only fathom it came out of the smoker and straight to the tray. The brisket was so moist and melt in the mouth, the pork ribs fell apart with a clean bone removal (not easy for pork ribs) and the hot links was packed full of flavour. The test of a great BBQ place is also their BBQ sauce which was nice and spiced (hints of mesquite) and the pickles, brined in house and delicious. Service was attentive and superb. An excellent late afternoon lunch.

I had the devastator burger and it was immense. So tasty and if you eat the top half then the bottom half its not overly messy or hard to eat. Chips good too. Friends burgers all looked top notch as well. Nice restaurant as well and staff are great.
Loses a star because their 'milkshakes' are firstly just blended ice cream plus a couple of unblended scoops thrown in, and not even good tasting ice cream but like cheap Walls soft scoop. I asked for Malt in mine and didn't get it, they took it back and brought it with whiskey in (I don't drink), at that point I gave up with the shake but they didn't charge for it.
If you want a proper malt shake go to Byron Burger. But the burgers here are next level!

The waitress was really nice and we had a lovely time sipping beers and chatting. Not a huge drink choice (I wanted a good whiskey) but a lovely atmosphere and a great service. My friends nibbled on something and they said the food was really tasty too! Plus, it's in a nice area. Go see it!

This was really good, their fries melt in your mouth. The beef ribs are huge & one can feed a whole family, I made the mistake & ordered two. BBQ is my favorite, this is as close to 🇺🇸 BBQ as it gets over here.

Went on a Friday night
Staff where quick to serve us and we didn't wait long for food either even though it was really busy. The food was delicious, burgers where huge and tasty. I had a chicken burger. Husband had a devastator it was really nice but a bit oily for his taste.
Sides where jus the right amount.
Couldn't eat it all so took it home. Looking forward to eating it in the morning.
Would defo go back there again.

Food was excellent, service was very good considering the place was full. Currently only table service. Quite a few items from the menu were unavailable, which is odd considering it’s pre-book and they should have an idea of how many people are attending each evening. No COVID check in facility? It’s not cheap…the beers were not pints but were £6 each… 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill even though there was less than 6 of us in the group… If you’re feeling flash and like a bit of country and western music. This is your place.

We were served by a really kind guy from Liverpool (sorry we didn't get a name) but the food was AMAZINGLY sized and portioned and very tasty!!! Luckily we went at a time where we could order the lunch deal with the sandwich or burger and it's such good value for money. There was a little bit of a hiccup with my sandwich but it was solved very professionally by the gentleman.
M. I.
Amazing meat amd burgers. Milkshakes were average. Cocktails very nice.
Those hot wings... seriously... SERIOUSLY, EAT THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
N. X.
Food quality is decent but music very loud, was difficult trying to talk with friends. Female bathroom had no toilet paper and ended up waiting almost 10 mins for someone to share some. Waiter got drinks order wrong and my husband found a long piece of plastic in his burger.
F. S.
Been here 3 times and it never disappoints! Who knew a simple cheeseburger with bacon could be so delicious?? The mash is amazing and that Mac and cheese is a pleasant surprise!
R. L.
Friendly staff, great food, we had a great waitress. I can't recommend the oreo milkshake enough.
I had the tower chicken sandwich whichever delicious, I had it hot but, it's not so hot that you can't taste anything. The chicken was cooked perfect I highly recommend it.
It Sunday lunch time and it's very quiet and this is one of the few places that is open in Hoxton square.
If you sit outside avoid the corners as it smells like pee I think is coming from the road side?

I'm not a big fan of these American themed restaurants, the background music is usually so loud that it's difficult to have any kind of conversation; this place is an exception and so when I awoke the next morning, I wasn't hoarse.
We ate the Carnivore platter for four people, perhaps three would have been better as there was so much meat leftover.
The pork rib and chopped pork was succulent and very tasty, the beef rib was also very tasty and true to their claim, wasn't reheated. The thing about beef is that it takes on a different flavour if reheated from cold.
The same was true of the brisket, however some people may find it too salty for their taste, I was OK with it.
The smoked sausages were full flavoured and meaty unlike the black pudding and chicken wings which to my pallette were bland.
The restaurant was quite busy but service did not seem to be affected. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and efficient.
If you like aged sipping rums, they had three of my favourites behind the bar (but not on the menu) and the price's were reasonable.
F. T. R. M.
Food's amazing especially the gigantic beef rib, brisket was great and juicy, the wings are overrated though
A. K.
Okay kind of meaty stuff, tasty yay without blowing any minds. Extra good fries and coleslaw. Fab bourbon and pickle juice shots. Environment doesn't entirely succeed to vibe the Texans way.
N. K.
I don't understand why your overall rating is so low?????
I purposely am describing myself incase you guys remembered me attending today as I want you to know how much I genuinely appreciated my experience.
I came today roughly around 1:30 PM ish, the lady in a white top and black trousers and large sunglasses. I showed the lady what I wanted from the Instagram page and ordered the mozzarella sticks because they are bloody heavenly (not even exaggerating).
Everything is cooked fresh and you can tell it is made with love. Gorgeously, tasting, comfort food to say the least!
The lady who had a slight accent, you were so kind, beautiful and welcoming!
Their was an oriental looking Asian man who was so, so kind and was constantly checking on me whilst I was eating to make sure everything was okay.
Nothing is artificial which makes everything extra perfect.
For anybody who has commented bad comments, shame on you. I've read some of the negative experiences and it's just typical of some losers to be so nasty!
I will stop by everytime I get the chance, so I can try something new and different every single time.
Lots of Love Nooraishah, 😘😘😘🌹

Absolutely banging food, tenders and the mixed BBQ platter were unreal. Only pain was that I was given a dirty glass by one waitress to use with my pitcher of beer, this was rectified but it wasnt ideal and was a minor thing.

I went down to Red Dog in Hoxton ( London ) to make a takeaway order as a treat to myself as I don’t often have the spending funds to treat myself like this often . To say I was underwhelmed with my order when I returned home was an understatement… was so disappointed with my order I decided to take some pics to show my sister as she ate with me last time @ Red Dog …. She knew from my photo just how much it wasn’t a proper RD meal and persuaded me to complain the next day … so I did !
The Outstanding Customer Service I received about my complaint was second to none .. Not only did they Ramake my meal there and then for FREE but also added on some delicious wings and a portion of fries and a free vodka and coke on the house ….. with the most helpful management team and chefs I’m now tucking into the most delicious meal ever and is exactly what I wanted the evening before ….
Top Notch Place and Absolutely Amazing Customer Service ( Rebecca you were outstanding ) ….
10/10 👍👍👍👍👍😋 ( before and after pics )

If your looking for a proper BBQ experience then this place has some mouth water BBQ ribs for you. Definitely try the brisket as this has left my mouth watering even 24 hours after trying it.
P. R.
We had the most fantastic dinner at Red Dog and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty and fun night out.
The deep fried jalapenos and brisket croquettes to start with were fantastic, and the OG special burger was one of the best burgers I have had in a really long time.
The drinks also included a great selection of beers and cocktails. I particularly enjoyed my margarita to start and my Oreo shake to finish!
Finally, the service was attentive, friendly and all round impeccable.
D. F.
Good vibes, average food with slow service. We had the carnivore platter to get a feel for the whole BBQ range. The wings came out cold, which was duly replaced, the rest was tasty with the brisket taking the crown. All in all, you can find a superior version of everything Red Dog has to offer in London, thus the 3*.The Mezcal Margarita we had was delicious.
W. W.
4 of us shared the Carnivore platter. For the most part it was very good although I was not a fan of the chopped pork and the others did not like the blood sausage. The service was a bit slow otherwise it was a positive experience on the whole.
C.
Had a good night on my friend birthday here. Food was tasty (lack of vegan options tho), cheap and good drinks. We could choose music, and our bartender was absolutely helpful and friendly person.
PS: my friend said he is really hot.

The best burger place with a nice location & staff
G. L.
Red dog saloon has suffered a major decline in food quality. I confirmed with a former staff member that this place has decreased their spend on ingredients, which helps explain the noticeable deterioration.
Can’t emphasise how delicious this restaurant was even back in 2013-2015. The burgers were world class, milk shakes large and tasty and chicken wings that just melt in your mouth. They developed a loyal clientele as a result and then suddenly cut costs little by little. The portions got smaller, food got worse and worse until it became just your average American style restaurant. The milk shakes and wings are now small, burgers mediocre and costs expensive.
I can no longer recommend the Red Dog Saloon despite very happy memories when the food used to be 1st class.

The service was terrible on Saturday 14th August.
We were a party of 13 that booked. We turned up 15 minutes early. Fair enough, we were told to wait. Waiting for 35 minutes was however a bit much! At least we got a free round of shots.
Eventually some of us get to sit, and then after another 10 minutes the rest of us can fit in.
Our drink orders were taken, our food orders were taken, we waited forever and eventually 4 of the orders that arrived were wrong and we had to wait for even longer. Thank you for the free fries. After all that, the drinks finally arrived.
The food was delicious! No complaints about that whatsoever. More veggie mains would be nice.
N. K.
I went today with my friend Meera and we both agree that your food is bloody beautiful. So filling, gave us so much energy, the chicken was cooked to absolute perfection. Your mozzarella sticks are absolute heaven - I now know what my new go to craving is. Thank you so much for providing us with such a lovely meal, these are experiences I will truly never forget especially when somebody puts so much thought in to your food (don't know if you could tell but I clearly adore my food alot). Staff were very attentive, professionally dressed as well as carrying an admirable manner. Hygienic, pleasant atmosphere. Indoor + outdoor + downstairs seating. Lots of variety of food, honestly so luxuriously wonderful. Thank you once again & may god bless.🌹🥰😋

Relaxed. Food is fun (wings etc), staff are nice (even if they are not particularly aware!), in the afternoon the terrace catches the sun, good spot on the green.
Happy hour is an nice throwback!!
But it is a bit of a shambles in the daytime. Space, tables, chairs, staff kind of all over the place. Doesn't make it an unpleasant place at all, in fact it's slightly charming, but it does seem to lack that well organised/run vibe that would put it on a different level.

Great food, good price.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday, wasn't rammed and so food came quickly.
Burgers were lovely and tender, tasty and not too sloppy!
Good range of foods at a variety of prices great for cheaper eats or more expensive meals.
You don't need a side as the burgers are a good size!
D. C. M.
The food is amazing, but the service very poor. We had to wait 15 minutes to order the drinks and the same after having requested the bill (the food came quite quickly though).
Another detail I didn’t like is that they added a 12.5% service charge, and then when paying the terminal also requested a tip.
L. C.
Great food, great ice tea, amazing deals on cocktails, lovely staff! Selena was extremely nice and gave us a great service!
Definitely gonna come back!!!
N. R.
Amazing meal, booked last minute and all staff were very accommodating. Massive food and drink selection and all tasted amazing! None of us went home hungry! Excellent value for money.
D. R.
Fantastic burgers, really good portion sizes and the drinks are made expertly. Great atmosphere for a day out.
H. B.
The burgers were out of this world.
R. (.
Delicious food, for a quick bar snack, a light meal of sides, or a heavy meat-sweats inducing feast.
Only detractor was the wait for initial service, but once that huddle was overcome the quality and taste of the food quickly overcame that hump!
J. T.
Although the menu is more mainstream than it used to be (some of the Southern US treats like catfish or grits didn't seem to be served any longer) this place still does some great burgers. The restaurant has the typical American bar decor you'd expect, but generally there's a good laid back atmosphere. I'd recommend the Red Dog Saloon and I'm not someone that normally eats this kind of stuff.
a. a.
If you’re looking to get full and satisfied, don’t think twice just go and enjoy! This place has really really stepped up the pace and is now killing it! The food is outstanding and the portions are perfect. Definitely a group thing!
j.
Nice find, burgers were cooked right temp and they were delicious. Service was quick and restrooms were clean. We loved it!
Only thing is the area its in, if traveling with kids go earlier in day. We went in the evening and all the night clubs were open and packed. People all on streets not a very family friendly area.
But this restaurant is great!!
M.
We almost didn't attend due to the server reviews but once we went I'm absolutely baffled that anyone could think that! Everyone we interested with was absolutely amazing and so so lovely, we came for my mums birthday meal and they surprised her and sung happy birthday with some free ice cream, she was so touched by this and our waitress was wonderful. Would absolutely go back (food was amazing too - decievingly big sharing platter, lots of food to take away!)
J. M.
Picked up wings, fried chicken, slaw and mac and cheese from red dog saloon and was relatively unimpressed. The tenders were all bread and no chicken. Next time I think I will stick to the burgers and bbq which I expect are much better.
E. J.
Great outside seating area, good service and happy hour cocktails. Food also looks top tier but we were not eating.
Will be coming back if I'm in the area.
M. G.
Been there again and the service was a lot better than last time. I love their BBQ wings and also the honey mustard wings!
The ice tea was really nice, the one with lemon is quite sour and the one with peach very sweet but both delicious.

The food was good, but the Service could be better. Don't bite off more than you can chew :)
J. D.
Mostly delicious food. Average alcohol selection.
First of all, order the Brisket Croquettes. The Philly Burger was mind blowing. The chips were honestly a bit average. The southern fried chicken bits were pretty tough and nasty and there was nowhere near enough sauce on them.
The Mac&Cheese was mega disappointing. It's not a good American Mac, nor is it a good Italian Mac. Hard to understand how it made it to the menu at all, in its current form.
I wish I'd have had two burgers and some brisket Croquettes instead.
A. O.
Can't really fault the place. The food is really good, especially the burgers. The BBQ meats are awesome and the staff are super nice, helpful and attentive. The only thing I would probably critique is that though the ambience of the place is really nice in the early evening, the volume level can go up significantly, as it gets busier.
C. B.
Really good menu, good food and drinks and the quality is there. Milkshakes are fantastic. Staff are helpful. The only negative is that The Devastator Challenge isn't listed with a price on the menu and it actually appears to be more expensive than buying The Devastator Burger separately with a shake. But that's one tasty burger regardless.
J. N.
Food was nice enough but staff were run off their feet. Not their fault but did mean that it took us 2 hours to order and consume 1 drink and a burger...
S. B.
Awesome BBQ food, authentic decor, bad music (tonight anyway). Upstairs was playing club house music, which kinda spoilt the Texas feeling. Music downstairs was more fitting, but upstairs was obnoxious. Still, food was great!
D. F.
Everytime I go here the staff are great. The food is amazing but that could he just the carnivore in me. I go for the platter and always leave full
M. L.
Sam the Bartender was amazing, he served us down stairs, his energy and expertise were outstanding. Definitely coming back just because of him.
C. P.
Great atmosphere and a great place to go with a group. Beer and meat is the basic neanderthal diet and believe me this place has nailed it with good tasting meat. The wing platter was especially a favourite, served up with the most gorgeous cheesey sauce which added much to the flavour. I've now eaten in both the Soho and Hoxton versions and both are very good although I'd say with the outside space the Hoxton branch just wins it for me.
D. M.
The drinks was great, food excellent and the vibes was perfect. A great spot to go for date night or friends
N. T.
I came here last night with a group of 20. I did the chilli wings challenge which was fun (at the time, not later). Interesting the staff sat and watched but never took the photo for the wall of fame. We asked a few times but they seemed to avoid it. The BBQ was pretty good and part from the picture thing, the staff were attentive
M. T.
Lovely food, great BBQ esp the brisket. Nice cocktails too. Fried chicken slightly underseasoned and pudding was just ok
L. L.
Amazing restaurant. One of the best BBQ joints I've ever been to! Their meats are juicy and the burgers are . In love with the hot fried chicken. Delicious cocktails to go with fantastic food. The lovely atmosphere matched with the cool and friendly staff.
Can't wait for my next visit.

This one is for the parents...
I was told on the phone by staff that this place was child friendly , We were abit shocked & embarrassed when me and my partner walked in with our children and it looked like a british hooters, Young waitresses with huge *clears throat* assets! walking around in the tiniest, tightest pieces of clothing & No other children.
Don't get me wrong it's a great place with tasty food (took an hour to come though) The waitresses were super kind, down to earth and sweet, they really tried their best for us even bought over some crayons and paper for my little ones, but it's definitely more of an adult vibe in there. I would go back but just without the kids next time 😂👌🏾
Food: Great
Portion size: Big
Drinks: Great
Staff: Amazing
Atmosphere: Nice
Child friendly: No!
S. W.
The food was decent tasty BBQ. It is okay pricing for Shoreditch. The chicken wings I had were really caked in breadcrumbs. It also took well over an hour from sitting down to the food arriving. I'm sure there are other easier places to get BBQ in the area
A. K.
Friendly staff and good food. The menu looks expensive especially if you buy by weight but actually it turned out to be of good value. The soft drink selection isn't great and desert choices are limited.
My friend had the standard burger and told me that the meat was really tasty but the burger didn't seem very large for the price. I went for the chicken tenders and was happy with the size of them. I also asked for extra spicy but they really didn't seem spicy at all, just a medium kick. They used powder for spice rather than sauce. My tenders were served on a slice of cheap white bread which was a little off putting for the meal.
Initially the order was wrong and we received something we did not ask for. Upon explaining this it was replaced correctly and we were not charged for the mistake. The waitress was apologetic and still maintained a good level of service with us.
B. M.
Fantastic food & service! Good choice of cocktails that are on & off menu. Limited Xmas menu but was a decent platter.
A. V.
Yummy food. Amazing cocktails. Everything is incredible. The BBQ are my absolute favorite.
Even during lockdown, the food is still absolutely incredible. As well as their amazing staff when you go to collect! Also can't wait to get back there to eat in!
Highly recommend.
A. D.
Cantastic authentic American bbq. Yhere is outdoor seating. I brought my dog and she was happu and treated nicely. The menu is typical meat bbq and all sorys of cocktails and alcoholic drinks. This is great for a catchup with friends a nice date or just terric bbq!
L. C.
Great food, great ice tea, amazing deals on cocktails, lovely staff! Selena was extremely nice and gave us a great service!
Definitely gonna come back!!!
S. O.
Food service was slow for a basic fries and burger meal, and the food was average. But the staff were friendly.
B. D.
Tried the sando which wasn’t too bad but wasn’t hot at all! The chicken again wasn’t hot and was super greasy! Would I be going again! No!
i. p.
This place is the best place is Hoxton/Old Street, if you're thinking of going to have fun, come here. All the staff were so welcoming and quick in service it instantly felt like family.
D. M.
Good themed decor and friendly staff. Food is tasty but expect to pay £12.95 for a single patty burger with NO Fries! A side of fries is an extra £4 and other sides are up to £6, so this is not the cheap and cheerful US smokehouse/burger joint which it is trying to replicate. Ribs were tasty and big but they're not a cheap option. 2 is probably enough for anyone except those with a big appetite. If you go as a family of 4 expect to pay £150 to £200 including some drinks. I would recommend this place but don't go expecting a cheap meal. This is a themed restaurant and you pay for the atmosphere.
Y. S.
We are fans of Red Dog and go the extra 'few miles' to support. So last night we ordered a big order for collection. Were told on the phone that our order will be ready at 6.45
Driving for an hour each way is not trivial and we really expected that our order would be ready on time.
Arrived there 6.40 and were told by staff that our order will be ready in 3 minutes.... just wait outside in the car and we'll bring it out to you.
To cut a long story short... our food arrived 20 minutes late, the manager was extra rude when I asked why they said 3 minutes and then it is 20 and he pointed out that they are not robots! I did not even get an apology.
And that's not the end of the story, we had 5 items missing from the order !!!
When pointing this out to the staff they reluctantly went to the kitchen and fetched the missing items.
Had I not checked my order when received , we would have driven for an hour back home to realise items were missing and be very upset.
So, to conclude, if you ever order from Red Dog, you can expect your order to be late, face rude staff and ohhhh, check for missing items.
Red Dog - you make very good food but very poor experience!!!
M. P.
Totally loved the food! Proper American burgers!
The only thing i didn't like were the toilets but besides this if you love burgers the place to be around Shoreditch.
N. B.
Amazing burger place - fantastic food, great service, excellent seating!
I truly do not understand the relatively low rating.
C. C.
Food was excellent. Had the Chilli Cheese Burger and it was divine. Was busy but waited 15 min for our jug of Beer. Then waited 10 min for a whiskey. Was then told the Corona, Cider, and all the other draughts were unavailable apart from Becks which the entire table hates. The system they have in place doesn't look productive as the waiting times were insane. Another table arrived and they waited 15 min for their order to be taken.
F. M.
The staff is really nice, the ambience is ncie too, but the cocktails were way too sweet, and the dishes were ok, but nothing that would make me or my friends want to go back there.
Y.
READ THIS BEFORE COMING HERE!!!
First time here and I attempt the beastly burger they had to offer me. I couldn't finish it off and cried myself to sleep as my manhood went out the window. It's not until now that I woke up realising that I have a purpose in life and I truly found out why I was put on this earth. As the song plays "Now I can see clearly now the rain is gone" it was at that moment I know what my life goal is and it's to come back and finish off what I started. I will reclaim my man points and show the world that I am not a yellow belly. This burger will not beat me. I will be known as the burger beater!
Also the strawberry milkshake is bomb here.
M. W.
Amazing brisket and beef rib from their new smoker, just divine! With Reds True BBQ gone, it's now top Dog for me in the area
V. R.
Absolutely amazing food brilliant service
Ellie definitely be going back soon
S. C.
Not terrible, just better BBQ options in town. I'd forgotten about the meal by the time I'd got into the cab.
B. J.
Not as good as it used to be. I used to come here specifically for the wings, but they seem to get worse each time I come. I think that my most recent visit will be my last. Very noisy and as previously discussed the food is average.
W. A.
Food was Ace the customer service was great I recommend the 2 meat platter just so you can taste all the different meats would definitely recommend
A. E.
Good food. Had an amazing time here. The staff members were friendly also. Loved every bit of it.
L. C.
Great food, good vibes, happy hour on cocktails!! Will be back
O. A.
Very good food but long waiting time.

This place was a mixed bag really. Myself and my boyfriend arrived and were initially seated in the most draughty spot in between two pillars, despite there being loads of tables. We asked to move and the staff were accommodating enough. It was super dark on the lower floor and even people around us were struggling to see the menus. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, sausages and a chicken burger to share between us as mains. We had the fried pickles and jalapeños for starter. The starter was massive, even for two people and quite heavy as it was all deep fried in batter. The sausage and brisket was nice but the pork ribs were awful - like eating a pure lump of fat and one bite made me feel physically ill. The cocktails were very nice though, so maybe more of a drinks place than anything. Not sure if I've go back for food.

Went for Louie's chicken.
Lovely people serving, chicken was good (though food did take a little while...) though not quite as spicy as expected.
Very happy.

If you like meat. Then this is the place for you.
We had the carnivore platter for 2 with a side of fries and coleslaw. Oh boy, this was a feast. The meats are cooked to perfection.
There are 3 bbq sauces to choose from each more amazing than the last. It is all you can do, not to put them in your bag to take home. PS, Googled if you can buy them. You can't 😉.

Love this place, one of my favourite restaurants in London! Big portions, great food! Highly recommend..
A. L.
Sam is the best ! Had an amazing time in here thanks to him. Absolute legend! Will definitely come back!
J. T. (.
Service is fast and staff is polite, the food is overpriced though, you pay top money for the burgers and they come with no sides at all, you have to pay extra for them... also, burgers are very greasy.
M. H.
Stellar service, great food, generous portions and the staff was both helpful and polite.
D. S.
Very well organised and accessible place. They serve big portions and for economical rates. We liked the meals very much and the staff members were very friendly and explanatory. Recommended.
J. P.
Food was really nice, portion sizes were great, and our waitress was very friendly.
However, I was admittedly disappointed with their lack of attempt to manage social distancing in the current climate. They were sitting people directly behind, or adjacent to one another, very clearly within a metre. No attempts made to direct people in a specific direction between tables so that contact was reduced, etc.

Revisited Red Dog Saloon today.
Still the best burger house in London!
Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. It feels like an american diner.
It is pricey but worth it, every now and then.
I recommend!
C. B.
Amazing food and great setting.
One of the best, proper American restaurants in London.
From burgers, to wings and sandwiches, the food is very good.
They used to have great Nachos as well, which will hopefully be back soon.
R. V.
Amazingll customer survice. Quality food. Quality drinks. Quality survice. You will not be disappointed coming to this restaurant! A****
S. B.
Have come here occassionally since it has opened but not been for a while. It has lost some of the atmosphere it used to have but the food was actually ok. Nothing amazing but alright if you need a feed and a couple of beers.
T. B.
I visited red dog awhile back in person and the environment was great. Friendly and helpful staff all around. We had the bbq platter that came out fresh and hot and a few appetizers (love the mozz sticks!). Same great taste as america bbq and feels just like a true smokehouse. We’ve ordered takeaway recently and still does not disappoint. 100% would recommend.
X. P.
Food was great but service was sooooo bad... 45min to order and 45mins to pay.
S. B.
The food here was absolutely amazing. I had the double Gooey Louie, and could not have loved it more.
M. B.
Top notch food with good service - excellent place to go for lunch and drinks!
R. C.
The food here is amazing. Everything was perfectly cooked the mozzarella sticks were so good with the tomatoe sauce utter perfection!
L. H.
Don't get the bad reviews here, service for me was fine on a Friday night and I can be a real fussy. Incredible burger!
J. H.
I've been to Red Dog Saloon several times over the last year or so. As a vegetarian their veggie cheeseburger is one of the best v burgers I've had. The loaded fries are always great too. However, a few of my friends have ordered a beef burger and a couple have asked for it to be cooked well done. The burger still came out very very pink in the middle. We have asked for it to be sent back so it can be cooked more. However it came back the same! So if you don't like eating pink meat then you may want to try the veggie burger instead. Service at times can also be painfully slow, I think staffing may be an issue.

This restaurant is one of the most beautiful, lovely and tasty place that I ever been. Staff is wonderful and such a good people with beautiful souls. Great service, great cocktails, great atmosphere and great food. What else do you need? Don’t forget to pass by ♥️
P.
Great welcoming service. My partner and I went for lunch and were seated and greeted promptly. We ordered an assortment of food that arrived within a great time and tasted delicious. Obviously not the healthiest food in the world, but damn did it taste good. Also, make sure you try the restaurants own sauces.
W. H. W. C.
Nice vibes, drinks are the usual expensive London price of £9 plus. Food was good. Enjoyed the beef salt ribs which took forever and a day to finish. Mac and cheese was too wet for my liking, but the beans were smoked and flavoursome. Had tobasco sauce to hand so impressed. Their ice teas were nice especially the white peach tea and their unlimited chicken and sides Wednesday deal my friends had was worth it
R. D.
Amazing place!
Sharon was our hostess and was very observant and helped out with the menu. She had an amazing vibe and was always happy to assist (Even when I broke my glass by accident)
Should be a little bit more welcoming to Vegetarians and Vegans as there is only one main option and nothing for starters or desert.
Would definitely visit again though!
S. D.
Great customer service, friendly and approachable staff and the food was really nice.
J. R.
Good quality food and if you choose wisely capable of having something naughty that won't flaw you an hour later and make you want to go home despite the menu being 50 shades of filth. Staff were attentive and had time to deal with a group of 12 without any major issues. Kitchen had a wooble and food temperature varied wildly along with one dish not turning up until most of us had finished. But the quality was there so definitely somewhere I would be happy to go back again.
A. B.
Came here for burgers and was not disappointed. Make you sure you bring a healthy appetite because the portions are huge and the food is so tasty, you'll want to finish it.
K. S.
Great food, (amazing mozzarella sticks), but big shout out to a great service with Nicole!! She took great care of us and she’s really fun!
X. W.
I went with a big group of people for a random night out. This is a good place for big groups but it's a bit chaotic and noisy if it's just a couple of people. I did the burger challenge and won comfortably because the food was good and I'm a fast eater. ;-)
The food isn't as good as Meat Mission etc but for the money it's great and the atmosphere was good too. Some of the staff are a bit surly but two of the staff that served us were excellent - most fun waiters I've had in ages.
It gets a bit too busy for my normal liking but like I said, if you want to do a group meal then this is a pretty good choice
N.
Great Burger rich in taste, top notch wings and the brisket ... wunderbar friendly service and good preparation time
C. B.
I must say that the food was amazing and the staff couldnt not help enough. great place to go and great food
A. Z.
Friendly place, nice atmosphere and OK food.
Even though we didn't book and it was a Saturday night, the waiters were really friendly and seated us immediately still.
I ordered a cocktail which was nice but not very a alcoholic, and a combo of ribs and pulled pork. With any BBQ meal you get 2 free sides which was very generous! I got onion rings and cheese chilli chips. The flavours were great and portion sizes generous. The ribs were a bit chewy and I kept finding bits of fat in the chips (they had pork in them too apparently?) which wasn't very fun.
Food was a bit overpriced for what it actually was but not too bad. My main gripe was that my combo actually had less food than if i just ordered ribs, and actually cost more!
S. H.
I was a bit apprehensive to go here after I read these reviews but needn't have worried.
Service was fine (if anything, the food came out too quickly!)
The food was tasty; I had the heat-seeker burger and my companion had the ribs and pulled pork. Neither of us had any complaints about the quality of food.
The cocktails (margarita and Beverly Hills iced tea) were great.
It was a bit noisy in there but was to be expected on a Friday evening and you could easily have a conversation without raising your voice.
Decor/ atmosphere were good and lively and the staff were friendly. We could see someone doing the hot wings challenge and all the surrounding diners cheered him on towards the end. So if you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner then this isn't the place for you.
I expected a lively restaurant which inexpensive, greasy, yummy food with the novelty challenges and a decent cocktail. That's exactly what I got.
M. M.
Good food but under staff. We had to wait ages to get served. Staff friendly and hard working though.
J. P.
Been here several times now and the food is consistently good. Great burgers and meat dishes. A particular highlight is the Pulled Pork and Brisket combo which looks deceptively small next to a typical meaty platter but is perfectly filling and absolutely lush. I've never had meat so deliciously tender.
H. Z.
Ah man, am I full! I had the ribs with onion rings and chilli cheese fries, and their portion sizes are generous indeed! You do not need starters and it's difficult to squeeze in a dessert too!
Ribs were lovely, but difficult to chew. The fries weren't the best, and the meat inside them had some gristle. Onion rings were nice. I got a long island ice tea cocktail as well which I cannot fault.
Service was friendly, and I'd recommend booking to guarantee a seat, as it was very busy. A tad more expensive than normal, paying £31 for just the main, a drink and service charge.
Definitely ordering less next time!
T. J.
Highly recommended. Fantastic selection of meats, burgers, sides and drinks. Beef brisket and burnt ends to die for, succulent and melts in the mouth. Good atmosphere with music that fits theme. Venue accommodates parties and special occasions as well as casual diners. Although our overall experience was great, one negative point was that our six strong party felt little cramped in the booth which was provided. During weekend booking ahead may be recommended.
V. j.
I love hot food, this is the first place that had a "spicy burger" that accoually had a punch to it. They had a hot challenge. I didn't do it but the server gave me a bit of the sauce. I think he just wanted to put me in my place cause I said the spicy burger wasn't to bad but it was delicious. It was hot as hell but I loved it. Sadly they don't sell it....
C. P.
Amazing food, omg where do i start the mac and cheese is awesome and the philly fries are delicious alone with the chicken tenders.. amazing cocktails the staff are lovely and went out their way to make sure our food was how we wanted it!! So polite will be back tomorrow it was that nice 👌
A. S.
It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and warming. Amazing cocktails, food and service with good prices. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.
D. S.
Great portions, a dry rub not sauce on the meat something to be aware of. Still great just personal preference
t. j.
Visited this venue after hearing so much about it. Great tasting burger good value for money. Didn't think much of the red dog larger tasted a bit flat. These burger type venues all tend to sell craft beers which tend to be expensive and usually tasteless.
l. c.
I highly recommend!!
Ordered for takeaway some brisket and i must say that it was one of the best brisket i’ve ever tried!! Also tried the hot chicken from the louis menu and WOW everything was banging.I’ll defo order again
S. S.
Meat and food, in general, are fantastic! However, even with a reservation, you have to wait to be seated and order. Something went wrong with our orders so we had to wait for >1h. Even after it arrived items were missing. After we finished eating it took a good 20 minutes for the tables to be emptied again so you are stuck with the smell of onions and pickles (if you haven't eaten them).
M. S.
Visited on Friday night. Had the gooey louie burger which was perfectly cooked and really tasty. Impressed with their condiments. The Texas Mustard is 100%. Although maybe add Mayo as an option rather than having to ask for it. Cant wait to visit again soon.
J. H.
Amazing food and exceptional service, recommended
J. A.
I had the BBQ rib and pulled pork for dinner and it was absolutely delicious and very filling. The sundae I had was equally as good, although a little on the small size for the price, however, I'm not sure I could have eaten much more after the main. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere made for a nice even out.
E. m.
Great hang out place for friends & colleagues. Excellent service. And the food too. But it's abit too salty so there's that. Try out the sharing platters. It comes with Beef, pork, chicken and sausages. Their mac & cheese are also delicious! Oh, and their beer is great as well. Enjoy!
D. L.
We ordered a platter for pork ribs and beef ribs, slaw and fried onion rings. The ribs were a tad dry, the slaw was alright however they did serve pretty mad onion ring. The highlight was their own mustard bbq sauce that was the bomb. I also enjoyed their mescal margarita but I'm unsure if I'll come back for their ribs as I prefer my ribs soft, juicy and the meat to fall right off the bone easily.
L. i. B.
Yummy burgers and fries... Friendly staff... Cozy environment 👍
S. C.
I was disappointed with the food here, the signature burger I had was so salty that all the flavors were totally overwhelmed. I typically like salty food so I was surprised. That being said the starter sharing platters were tasty though. The service was pretty mediocre and we struggled to get the attention of any servers despite the place being only half full.
I wouldn't bother going again there are plenty of better quality and definitely better value barbecue and burger places in London.
R. R.
We didn't have a reservation for this place on a Friday night but they sat us anyway. The menu has a good selection of proper BBQ food like burgers and ribs. Beer is pretty good, I didn't notice other drinks tbf. Good atmosphere. Has a couple of those food challenges where you get your photo on the wall.
T. M.
The entire family turned out for my 70th birthday party. Good food, good service and a great atmosphere.
K. C.
Let me tell you something, if you want to feel like you're living in an episode of Man vs Food and have meat sweats for an average of about 4 days this is the place to come.
Their brisket is a work of art, like seriously it's softer than a cloud. you ever try chew a cloud ? probably not right but this is as close as you will get in your little human life.
O. A.
Came here with a few friends and had an excellent time. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. I went for the gooey louey which tasted delicious and we shared some fried pickles which were amazing! Would happily go back again!
B. E.
Very nice staff, albeit a tad mechanical. Pulled pork is good, fries are good, I hear the wings are amazing and milkshakes are divine. Unfortunately my big piece of brisket was about 40% fat, though what meat I had was nicely smoked. Couldn't recommend this for brisket. Best combo would likely be lots of wings, fries and some pulled pork with a shake.
G. S.
Food was not bad. It was an American style burger type menu. A lot of deep fried stuff. Quite expensive for what it is but you're paying for the location. Right next to bars and clubs in Shoreditch. Always packed out. Service was not bad. Bit cramped. Pretty loud noisy place, good place to go with friends before a night out.
J. N.
The food was nice however we had several issues till we finally could all eat. Once raised our order, the drinks came quite quick, we had to wait a little for the food. Still, when we got it, half of the mains / sides were cold or warm, but definitely not hot. Part of our group sent back the cold food, and we waited more than an hour to get it back. They were also running late with the drinks we ordered afterwards, it felt like they are not prepared for bigger groups, or the place full with people? Finally, when we all finished with our dinner, we got discounts from the bill, but it does not really change the fact that we were kept waiting for more than an hour for everyone to get their dinner.
J. I.
Service is great but food is just OK.
If you praise yourself of being a meat restaurant you need to get the point of the meat right..
We ordered 3 medium burgers and one was medium (slightly red but cooked) the other 2 were actually well done (nothing like red, just overcooked meat) .
Fries with parmesan were a nice concept poorly executed, felt like McDonald's fries with a bit of parmesan and a bit of ranch sauce.
However I appreciate they've updated the menu since I last went and now I like it more.
Although it's not my favorite place, I won't persuade a regular customer to not go, but if you are a meat lover that appreciates perfect cooking points, probably not the right place for you.
C. W.
Our food arrived fairly cold and it took quite a while. I eventually flagged down the waitress (who was a-laugh-a-minute) to get some fresh chips and received a fairly blank, bemused, unapologetic reaction. The burger was very tasty, as were the hot chips. My friend had the chips with cheese, pulled pork and jalapeños, which were unpleasantly peppery and contained bones/gristle! It's generally overpriced too. There are numerous better, cheaper burger places nearby.
P. C.
Food was fine, atmosphere was good, service was decent. As a vegetarian this isn't the kind of place I'd normally go to, but my boyfriend wanted to give it a go, and I saw they had a vegan burger on the menu.
The burger was a seitan patty; it was a bit overcooked, dry and too crispy, but I appreciate it as an option. They also definitely could have put more hot sauce on it (I ordered extra hot and got the mildest zing). The onion rings were good; panko bread rather than battered; light and crispy. We also got half and half fried pickles / jalapeños; they were fine, a good vessel for the batter.
My boyfriend really enjoyed his fried chicken; he said he'd come regularly if it were closer to our house. His enjoyment improved my enjoyment :) he also got the Oreo fudge cake which was ok, but pretty overpriced.
The waiter was very attentive; no faults whatsoever!
t. n.
The food was as close to American BBQ as it gets. The Brisket Croquettes were amazing!!
h. s.
Best service hands down they messed up my order waited more then a hour because chef walked out but the staff still pulled it togthere and the manager in the red check shirt she really helped and dealt with situation really good will be going back for sure food 10/10
A. B.
Decent American restaurant. Its all about size here so the quality of the food is fairly standard. The chips were dull and the jalapeno poppers were huge.
I really liked the oreo milkshake though. Staff were a bit oblivious but otherwise friendly.
I think their are other better American restaurants but its fairly good if you are in a large group and in the area.
M. D.
This is a FANTASTIC restaurant! They have two food challenges: hot wings and large burger. I didn't do the burger, but I did do the Hot Wings. They are HOT! I'm very happy I did it though! I later went back with 6 friends who each did one wing from the challenge. They barely survived. It was one of the best days of my life. Great milkshakes. Friendly staff.
M. L. K.
Amazing brisket and beef ribs... Beans and coleslaw was great too. I'm staying!
P. (.
Great food, friendly and honest staff. Good selection of food and the obligatory food challenge called the devestator. Overall, good and fun place to eat. Recommendations wise the ribs and fries where good. However highlight was serving the brisket which was amazing and highly recommended.
T. S.
American BBQ style diner, which is as you'd expect, big portions, pretty well cooked, pitchers of beer and ales available. The tables are quite close together, however it's not the kind of place I'd go for an intimate dinner. Staff are helpful and friendly, and it's in a good location.
G. W.
Tried this place for the first time a few days ago. The menu was good and the quality of food is incredible. "punisher" burger lived up to it's name fully. The fries, onion rings and milkshakes were all also exceedingly delicious. The service was not on par though; with approximately 12 customers and 5-6 people working the floor, my friends and i found ourselves waiting for a very long time to receive our bill once we had finished eating.
K. M.
One of the Best Value burgers i've ever had - not to mention it being one of the tastiest! The Devastator, as featured in the media is an absolute beast - but delicious and good value considering how much you get for under £20.
Service was OK, but the atmosphere is enjoyable and the actual range of food available is impressive. I've heard there's also a Hot Wing Challenge, but I've not tried that.
Very enjoyable, look forward to going back
J. P. J.
The food was fantastic. We did the burger challenge, and though I didn't finish the chips and thus the challenge, I was still very happy just because the food was so good. Our server was very friendly, the environment was nice, and the food arrived quickly.
H. E.
My bf and I were here this morning for breakfast and it was WONDERFUL. The staff were lovely and friendly - they were charming, actually. The food was unbelievable. I had pancakes with banana and pecan - perfect! I could have eaten two plates! My bf's grub was equally delicious. We both felt that the food was great (and very good value for money), the staff were excellent and the whole ambience was just what we wanted. Thank you! Highly recommended!
J. T. J.
My food was nice, but the starters were all cold and the service was very slow. Had to ask for our drinks 3 times and they all came separately. One person didn't even eat as the food was not cooked properly.
L. D.
Went for dinner with friends here. Nice atmosphere, service was a perfunctory and they were also uncooperative in giving us a table together despite having made a reservation (we had to sit at two separate tables back to back). Drinks are par for the course for London (i.e. not cheap), ditto for the burgers. The blue cheese burger was quite good, the onion rings that I had as a side less so. Overall, average to decent. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but would probably go if I was in the area.
S. C.
The pulled pork was a bit of a disappointment after having lived in North Carolina for a few years and the baked beans were nothing to write home about either - however I admit I'm a bit biased.
On the other hand both the wings and the burgers looked fantastic so I will definitely be returning to give the place another shot. I'd advise against the pulled pork but given the beer menu is strong and there are look to be a number of other great choices on the menu I think it's worth a try if you're in the area!
V. A.
Ok food. Really good service, but average BBQ food considering the standard of this type of food you can now get elsewhere in London! Red dog was amazing a few years ago, but needs to up its game to challenge local newer BBQ joints!
D. J.
I had Taylor serve me for my birthday of approx. 20 people.
She was perfect from start to beginning, and even thought of things to make the night go smoother.
She literally made my birthday feel smooth and flawless and 100% less stressful.
Thank you Taylor for an amazing service, and Red Dog please appreciate this great member of staff.
L. K.
I didn't know I love bbq before RDS, I do now
M. W.
Staff were friendly and helped accomadate a large group of over 25 people. However when it came to service there seemed to be a lot of confusion and long delays between people in the party receiving food. But food is excellent and has a great bar menu also
T. F.
Firstly I really like Red Dog. The food is fantastic as was our waitress who we had no problem tipping the 12.5% which was added to the bill.
Everything went well and when the bill came we split it 50/50 with friends. The card machine asked if we wanted to give a tip and after hesitating I gave 5%. The reason I hesitated and the reason it was only 5% was because I was sure I remembered seeing that a discretionary 12.5% gratuity would be added to the bill. In truth I felt awkward and uncomfortable checking the bill with the waitress there so I just gave 5%. When we walked out I spoke to the manager and he made up some strange excuse that their machines weren't working property so that was the reason it asked for a gratuity on gratuity - or something like that, it seemed strange so I'm not entirely sure what the reason was. I told him that perhaps he should be instructing his staff to notify customers about this before handing over the card machine - he didn't seem to agree and made no offer to refund the tip which I thought was poor management and customer service.
Still, really nice food but this incident did leave a bad taste in my mouth.
A. W.
Food was amazing!! A little bit pricey.
J. (.
Hot wing challenge was hilarious. Trust me, I'm a lover of hot food, but these were just insane. The warning is necessary.
Burger was pretty good, although as with all burger places, it's just a burger, not sure charging roughly a tenner is good. But it was very tasty!
I'd definitely go again as part of a large group, seems like the sort of place for that...
C. R. (.
Pricey but easily the best burger I've had in a long time. You can taste the quality! I had a quad-burger which is no less than FOUR patties! 4! Oh and the onion rings were so good I immediately regretted not ordering several.
C. G.
Great spot for food and drink. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.
P. A.
The quality of the the food was terrible. Poor, fatty cuts of meat, underseasoned and flavourless. The only saving grace was the drinks and the attentive staff members.
M. “. O. K.
It's good but not great. I've eaten here quite a lot and noticed a few subtle changes from when it first opened, when it would easily have got 4 stars. The major downer was a change in the burger buns which now almost disintegrate under the moisture from the fillings.
The ribs are what I like best tho, meaty and tasty without being too dry. The combos can be hit and miss, sometimes the chicken is succulent, other times it tastes as dry as a cracker. Keylime pie is consistently good (doubtful if its made on site)
M. F.
Could be better, the menu has promise, but the ribs and slaw definitely average. Nice fries and some interesting ketchup alternatives. Particularly the Honey French Mustard. Massive portion size, but doesn't make up for the quality.
Staff all a bit tied up with each other, and sticking a 12.5% service charge on the bill, especially as I was on my own was talking a bit of a liberty.
Bill's is across the square, plus some other interesting venues. They'll need to try harder to get me there again.
C. M.
Tasty fresh food and delicious cocktails. Relaxing and authentic environment with friendly team members. Louie's Hot Chicken my fav!
M. H.
Some of the barbecue was okay but it just wasn't of a high standard. The beef rib was not cooked long enough and was basically inedible. If you've never had American BBQ then don't go here for your first try or you won't understand how good it can be.
D. W.
The venue was fine, seating arrangements was good, atmosphere was good.
We had a plater to share, to me it was well over priced , and to be fair not even that nice.
A rib for you to share, would have been better with two baby back ribs. A piece of chicken to share, would be better with chicken thighs. £40 for two not worth it. Very fatty and not enough meat.
Wouldn't go again
M. B.
Great food and friendly staff. The burger with brisket in it is delicious!
G. W.
Would have been 5 stars but they have gotten rid of the carnivore platter in favour of over priced "build your own" platters. Food didn't seem as good as last time. Overall pretty average
G. J.
Alright, good value food. Burgers were cooked perfectly.
s.
Food amazing. Service shocking. Completely forgotten about.
J. A.
I came here twice. Both experiences contrasted each other.
On my first visit, I ordered the Carnivore Platter. It was what I expected from it. Unlimited meat for £22.50. The meat was a bit too salty for my liking though.
On my second visit, I ordered the Carnivore Platter. I was expecting the same experience from last time, but low and behold, I did not get unlimited meat.
I am not sure what the policy is on the Carnivore Platter, but I was sorely disappointed by the lack of unlimited meat on my second visit.
C. S.
What Red Dog saloon might not have in terms of fine dining and quality ingredients they certainly make up for in quantity and strong tastes. Whether it's burgers, ribs, steaks, wings or shrimps, their signature smoked flavour permeates through the large portions - perfect for sharing or for big appetites!
Despite numerous reviews saying that the staff are a bit miserable, I've never had a bad experience here (though your mileage may vary), just bear in mind that Red Dog tends to get a bit busy around the weekends.
Word of warning: use cutlery for the Hot Wings Challenge, those things will blow your tongue right off :)
J. B.
The food was good - not the best I've tasted, but it came in generous portions at good value. The service, however, had some serious problems - getting the drinks we ordered was a hassle and it took staff a long time to clean up a mess caused by someone throwing up on the way to the bathroom.
Warning: if you pay by card, the card machines try to add a service charge *on top of* the 12.5% tip automatically added to the bill.
H. S.
Our meal had a bit of an ominous start. When we arrived the table next to us complained about how long they'd been waiting for food and throughout the night we were offered various delicious-looking platters that we hadn't ordered - it seems that they have a problem with labelling their tables. Whoops! Aside from that, our food arrived in good time and the array of dishes was correct.
We went for burger and shakes, the classic artery-clogging combo destined for morning-after regret. The (Heatseeker) burger was good (and very spicy!) but insanely greasy. I'm not sure how the bun accumulates the layer of shiny, shiny grease but it's there. Prepare to wash your hands after the meal (if you don't already regularly do so you dirty fellows). The milkshake (with the extra malt) was lovely and thick. I went for the peanut butter and banana shake which tasted like blended Reeses Pieces with little chunks of banana. Result!
Not a bad start to the Saturday night, worth a try if you fancy playing service roulette.
Warning: a significant portion of the menu is pork-based, so if you're not a pork-eater pickings are slim.
A.
I was honestly a bit disappointed with my visit here. The staff was just all over the place and it wasn't even that busy, coupled with haphazard and disjointed service. They've also got a wings challenge, and while that's all well and good, what I didn't appreciate was the was the contenders kept retching and throwing up outside the restaurant, so that by the time my food came the environment was just unbearable.
The food itself wasn't that special. Not bad, but not outstanding either. It was just your standard fare and it felt very overrated. Parking in the square is also limited and expensive, so bear that in mind
S. R.
The place serves big dishes and for fair prices. welcoming staff members. Will visit again.
J. R.
The staff had a real stinker when we went along, which really tainted the night.
Food was ok - burgers and BBQ. My short rib was a bit tough and dry, but everything else was good enough.
Definitely better BBQ and burger places to try in London.

This place is not cheap but the food was excellent - everyone with me agreed it was in top 2 or 3 burger joints that they'd ever eaten in. Also, when the menu says certain food is spicy, they are not joking on the heat. Great staff, great food, great atmosphere, would go back at the drop of a hat.
K. D.
The food took bare long to come out, staff gave us free wings. The music volume had a mind of it's own and they need to turn on a few lights in there. Couldn't see ish at night time. Plus, more toilets please.

A nice slice of what tries to be Texas in London, Red Dog Saloon had the best burger I had in almost 2 years of living in London. I came back a second time, but it wasn't as good since I forgot to ask them to make my burger well/medium-well. They also have a burger eating challenge that gives the place some extra character. The only real negative about it is the wait can be long for the food and they should ask you how you want your burger done if they are really trying to be American!

Fast service and busy vibe yet the food was a bit of a let down. We had a sharing plate for just under £20 which included beef rib, chips and coleslaw. The meat was well cooked but I felt it was a small portion size for two people.
B. S.
We went to do the hot wing challenge but had a burger and a cocktail each before we destroyed our taste buds.
The burgers were amazing, the person i was with said that the Philly cheesburger was the what they had ever had.
Cocktails where good , as where the milkshakes we ordered in hurry after doing the wing challenge.
On to the wing challenge ! From the second the wing touched my mouth it burned, by the 5th it felt like my mouth was on fire and only the thought of besting my brother spurred me on. After finishing all six I had to sit and "feel the burn" for 5 minutes without eating or drinking anything in order to complete the challenge.
See you up on the wall.

I'm not sure why others don't have a good experience when they go here. The food is great - simple juicy meats with a lot of different sauce and side options. My all time favourite is the brisket, everytime I had it it was cooked to perfection and we'll seasoned. Meltingly soft. A decent selection of brews too.
Z. R.
Excellent burgers, they are very tasty and I’ll recommend the coleslaw, there is also very helpful and friendly staff

Basically the TGI Fridays of Hoxton but with patchier service. My last meal here was tasty overall but had a few issues. Service was elusive; napkins, drinks will took a while. The bill came rather quickly though funnily enough....
The wings tasted a bit sweaty under all the sauce, like they'd been cooked ages ago and kept warm. They'd run out of slaw, but we only found out when we asked why it was missing from our platter (yes, I actually like slaw!). Ditto for the ice cream shortage that was only revealed when we tried to order ice cream.
It filled a hole, and they do good burgers.

Nice little burger restaurant. Good food and good company. Tasty cheese burgers

Prices are extortionate for what you actually get. Both in terms of drinks and food (which is mediocre/poor). The one good thing about this place is that you can feed somebody their super-hot chicken wings, and I can assure you they are the hottest thing Ive ever eaten in my life, by miles. I like hot food but these are not to be messed with!!!!

I did visit this restaurant on a weekly basis until after my meal today. Over the past few weeks I have had issues with the quality of food and the portion size. Everytime I visit the food quality has gotten worse. You ask why I went back, well I was hoping they would get their act together and make themselves an enjoyable destination once again. For example, on one visit the establishment had no ribs (which left us speechless) on another I swear the chicken wings served were reheated from a run to Costco and today the portion size was nowhere close to where it had been or should be for the cost of the meal. There are way too many variables in play when eating at Red Dog and it often feels like a game of russian roulette with the food. I am not sure if they have new owners, problems with food delivery, incompetent chef, etc. however something is not right and it is Joe Public who is getting shafted. The lure of the Devastator is appealing (I will credit Red Dog for the picture email campaign which circulated the City) however, you will sacrifice taste and quality for an over sized and over priced burger. Perhaps this quality of establishment is okay with the trust fund children living in the neighborhood but for those of us that work for a living and enjoy a decent meal it is sub-par and nowhere close to what I or anyone should expect on a visit-to-visit basis.
S. M.
Goodish American style BBQ diner. Used to be the place to go but with the advent of so many others which are brilliant. it's now more average than amazing. Still, you can get bottomless ice tea if that's your thing.

Great food and staff went extra mile to make something not on menu for us
A. J.
Lots of negative reviews for this place but I enjoyed the food, if not the rather patchy service. Meat was plentiful and tasty. Bit weird that they shut up shop so early- we were hustled out well before midnight- despite being modelled on an American style bar. Would probably have to visit again if willing to recommend- it seems that it's very hit or miss.

This place is known for 2 great food challenges. A tough hot wing challenge, I've tried and failed. The second is a huge burger challenge. The food is slightly over priced but tastes great. Its comparable to The Diner with a slight twist on the menu. Worth visiting if you're down for a milkshake and some delicious greasy food.
D. G.
Had the southern fried chicken with mac and cheese and onion rings. Everything was very tasty although the blue cheese sauce I ordered for the chicken was quite mild. Also ordered the Mississippi mud pie which unfortunately was out of stock. Would go again, and would recommend it.

Red Dog Saloon is the place to go for American comfort food when you are in East London. I’m talking big juicy burgers, sauce covered ribs, buffalo hot wings, crispy fries (not chips!), and of course thick decadent milkshakes. It’s nothing fancy and not the best food you’ve ever eaten, but damn if it doesn’t satisfy!
The burger was tasty with a soft bun, juicy patty, and salty crunchy bacon. It was all in all a good bacon cheeseburger but lacking the wow factor. Everything worked just as it’s supposed to but I’ve grown spoiled with burgers in London and I wanted a twist.
The ribs were tender and cooked perfectly with the meat almost falling off the bone. I would have preferred more sauce given that I was introduced to bbq in the sauce-loving Kansas style. The fries were excellent and I easily devoured my portion (and almost tried to steal my mate’s portion). Healthy, this meal was not, but tasty it covered in spades.
R. M. S.
My girlfriend and I agree: best ribs we've had outside of the United States. The brisket is good too, but I guarantee you'll pretty much just want the pork ribs. And then you'll want them again.
N. B.
Actually went to louie's which is downstairs . The ambiance was nice and can tell its new. Ordered the chicken wing bucket, chips, onion rings and mozzarella dippers. Had to remind the waiter that the chicken came with bread and gherkins and was brought 4 slices of buttered hovis and sliced gherkin( not what i expected - more expected nice breakld and mini gherkins). The wings were delicious- a little oily. Chips and mozzarella dippers were 5 star. Ordered desert and was a oreo pie -which i didnt like. Could have been put on a plate rather than a cardboard board. Overall was nice. The fish bowl rum punch was a winner
A. M.
If you want a good slab of meat in your burger, this is the place to go. The food is great with a lot of different options as well as usual and unusual beer to wash it down with.
And if you are feeling up to it, you can try the Devastator, which has 3 burgers, 6 rashers of bacon, 200g of pulled pork and 6 slices of cheese.
Would fully recommend this place, but it is busy quite a lot of the time, so book a table
D. C.
My experience at Red Dog is fantastic! Bringing me and my friends back to the 60's America. Very friendly staffs. Food and wine is good as well! A very pleasant dining experience with friends or couples. A must go place for all spicy lover - this place totally nailed it!
E. M.
Service was very mixed - our waitress kept us waiting 30 mins+ for our drinks (twice!), but her manager was very apologetic and sorted things out.
The food came quickly however, and the starters were delicious. We had the mixed platter and the mozzarella sticks were perfectly cooked with a lovely cripsy crumb. The wings also were good, but the prawns overcooked and mushy.
Moving on to the mains, I had the pulled pork burger and was very disappointed. The burger was lukewarm, without sace and just uninspiring. The pulled pork was dry (as many other peple have said). The chips were nice, and you get a good selcetion of sauces. Pity they don't see to use them in the kitchen.
Overall I wouldn't recommend - go to Bodeans instead.

Amazing BBQ. The beef rib is so good. The fried chicken tenders were disappointing for the price
T. W.
My order: 12 wing sampler with buffalo sauce, spicy Korean, and BBQ. Pit master sandwich with fries.
The décor of this restaurant has the usual odds and ends you'd expect of an American style BBQ house. Buffalo skull on the wall, rusty road signs and plenty of Americana to give it a unique theme. The main area red dog saloon fails to impress at is the food. The wings were average and didn't taste especially fresh. The pitmaster sandwich came in a brioche bun so was more of a burger than I had expected. It was filled with pulled pork, beef brisket, gherkins and a few sauces. The pulled pork was dry and lacking in flavour but the beef brisket had great barbeque smokiness and was juicy and tasty. In hindsight I wish I had gone for a sandwich that contained just beef brisket as the flavour was what I had been hoping for from a restaurant priding itself on its barbecued meats.
If you're looking for a place for great grilled meats I'd suggest somewhere such as hotbox or smokey tails (literally opposite - great pulled pork and nice BBQ ribs). However the beef brisket was very tasty.
On a side note drinks were average to expensive and were not great at all - would suggest avoiding any cocktails and stick to beer or go for something different altogether such as a shake.
J. S.
Service was consistently poor, across the board, which was the same as it was at odds with the All-American atmosphere of the decor. Dismissive on arrival, mix ups with orders and requests for things like knives and sauces. It felt like all the staff were rushed.
In terms of food,I had pulled pork with ribs, mac+cheese and collard greens. The pork and greens were excellent - full of flavour and leaving me wanting more. The ribs were tasty but not the tenderest I've had, and a struggle to tackle without a steak knife (which took two attempts from asking wait staff to get hold of). The mac and cheese was disappointing, ok it's not haute cuisine, but it was a bit watery and lackluster.
Overall I think the food wasn't enough to make me want to go back - good selection of american beers though.

Lovely food, great BBQ! Nice cocktails. And amazing staff! I highly recommend that place!
J. E.
Unreal food. Came a while back and it wasn't as good, but my god did they deliver. The meats were unreal. I recommend the Texas Fries and the Brisket. Skip dessert and double down on the meat for a good time.
S. T.
Nice vibe to this place. The Philly fries are a meal by themselves and delicious.
C. F.
Excellent food and service. Milkshakes are very delicious and great atmosphere slightly off the main road. Only downside is slightly expensive, but worth it in my opinion
M. N.
Cane here after a friend recommended it to me and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is really good, especially their ribs and chicken combo. They have a special sweet and spicy sauce which goes really well with the chicken. Definitely coming back!!
J. B.
Had the pulled pork and ribs combo meal with fries and coleslaw. portion was small compared to other BBQ places (e.g. Bodeans), but tasted OK. Fries were nice and crispy and coleslaw was actually pretty good. Nice Camden beer on draft.
It's a shame that the stand out element was the coleslaw - I expected more from a BBQ joint that came recommended
J. B.
There's a general warm, fresh feel about the place when you walk through the doors of The Red Dog Saloon.
It attacts quite a few business people during lunchtimes of which many no doubt have heard of The Devastator Challenge. There's the feeling that those who walk through the doors, walk through with a grace of "Yes, I have come to take my thrown when I take on the Devastator Challenge". In reality they're probably going for a large burger and chips. There's still a feeling on the looks of people, that they have found somewhere special.
The staff are noticeably friendly, with many on hand. The place looks good from within and outside, and is situated in a good location.
The Punisher Burger was tried, and I can say that it is very tasty. Bacon, beef burger, pulled pork, tasty cheese - all are crammed within the confines of the burger.
It's different and worth a visit. I'll be going back there once I've recovered from that burger!
S. H.
Passable BBQ, but definitely better to be had in London and in the neighborhood - go to Smokestak. Chicken was dry, and brisket was pretty bland.
Notably one of the only places in London I've found to do pitchers of beer, they've got north american cuisine right in that respect.
D. M.
The amazing smell when you walk in gets you extremely fired up for the food to come. It does not disappoint. The meat platter I shared was sensational, highly recommended for a meat eater with a taste for barbecue.
D. C.
An interesting place if you're up for food based challenges.
They do a massive "devastator" burger which is several kilos worth of meat and would be enough for a whole table normally. They also do spicy hot wings, which require a disclaimer to be signed before eating... Avoid these if you can, they are so spicy you will either end up going home ill, or spend the next day regretting what you've eaten!
The place itself is American in theme, has a decent atmosphere and has a good selection of cask beers - including one from the local Camden Brewery
A. M.
Simple place to visit, typical american fare burgers wings ribs and milkshakes. Good cocktails. Staff are attentive and friendly.
Try the hot wing challenge at your own risk.
G. L.
Wow! Superb chicken wings and AMAZING burgers!
D.
Pros: Good Food
Cocktails
Good American Atmosphere
Spacious
Friendly Staff & Helpful
Cons: Music too loud!
Drinks expensive & Too small considering how much Ice they put
in your drink
No Happy Hour
Overall: Great Place to eat but reserve a table as it gets busy..

After hearing many good things about red dog, myself and a group of friends finally got around to visiting. We were all hoping for good US bbq food. We were all disappointed. The ribs and pulled pork were very dry, I didn't even know you could make them that dry... The taste was also poor and was only saved by dousing with their barbecue sauce. The burnt ends pie was also very dry... how can you make a pie dry?? I tried a bit of my friends cup of chilli was respectable, but otherwise the food was poor. I think this place is living off of 'devestator' fame. AVOID if you want a tasty meal
A. T.
Good food but not as good as Bodeans. Service was poor. 2 staff per table yet poor/no service. Menu had to be asked for, staff too interested in hanging out/chatting with each other. Waited ages for food, then orders were wrong. Staff were desperate for the bill to be paid to see if they got the tip (that was already added!)
A. K.
All ways good food and service from here you must try the Devastator burger
A. K.
Our group came for the "Devaster Challenge", which is basically 6 large burgers, chips and a shake all to be eaten in 10 minutes.
The service is very poor, no excuses for it being for it being a group - especially when we are all ordering the same thing!
The burger is good, but the pulled pork was too dry and detracted from things. The "suicide wings" challenge is very spicy; speaking as someone who likes things spicy, wear gloves!
L. D.
I'd come to this place again and again and again - always very satisfying to dine here. The main restaurant can be crowded at times, and if you don't mind, the next door take away place is just as brilliant and cozy (there are tables for sitting down). Have the pitmasters sandwich, or Pho Boy sandwich with some chips and onion rings. Oh did I just mention their Onion Rings? They're fantastic. Three other things to note: 1) food portions are very generous. 2) the take away joint does not serve any hot drinks. 3) chicken wings can be dry.
B. D.
Good burgers with a bit of American flair. They are a bit greasy though and loaded with mayo. Not the best burger you will ever have but tasty all the same. Also they have some good American whiskeys!
A. P.
Helpful and pleasant staff.
One of the places to visit for a nightout for sure.
D.
The burgers are alright but the atmosphere is pretty good, their spicy chilli sauce is extremely hot. I would recommend this place because of the atmosphere. That and you can also get beers by the pitcher.
P. 9.
Great food and service. The bar is good, wheelchair accessible with a flat entrance and disabled toilet available. Friendly staff. Finding car parking can be a bit difficult here.
T. A.
Food was delicious, service quick and staff lovely. Would definitely recommend

Great atmosphere, fun team, good food!

As a Clapham resident, I walk past the new Red Dog South Saloon most days. It's a lot nicer looking than the previous tapas restaurant, and a lot busier.
However.. I was disappointed with the portion sizes. I ended up spending 27.00 for two ribs, three small pieces of brisket, and a pint; a little overpriced for Clapham. I don't think I'll be back unless there's a 1/2 price deal.
Still haven't found a place better than Big Easy in Kings Road, which is the gold standard for BBQ in my opinion.
M. G.
Amazing food and kind people! The last meal of our trip to London, a perfect ending!
C. W.
I had the devastator burger which was amazing, might even try the challenge next time. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Although I don't like when restaurants add a service charge especially when it's 12.5% like this place. It's excessive.
J. P.
Great outdoor space, delicious wings, and the tower chicken burger was incredible. If you're ordering cocktails, the margarita is a bit sweet but the mojito is really nice.
A. G.
The first time I had a burger, The Punisher, from here it was fantastic, one of the best I'd tasted, but the next time it wasn't as nice. Hit and miss and probably not as good when they're busy and rushed. Apple Pie and Chocolate Brownie are both very nice.
D. M.
Really good selection of American style meat dishes and bbq such as brisket, pulled pork and rotisserie chicken. The burgers are excellent and portion sizes are large. They also run a number of food related challenges such as the naga chilli hit wings and devastator burger.
R. E.
Had the pulled pork and brisket. Pulled pork was tasty, serving size a tad small, brisket was a bit dry but still ok. Staff were friendly and food was served quickly, but nothing really stood out.
S. C.
An American fast food diner, nothing special, food was good and so were the portion sizes.
Would have preferred some good old American Rock N Roll music to the common stuff played at nearly every other venue in London.
R. A.
Food was good and the drinks flowed as they had a great variety!!! Staff were very nice too. Definitely be back for the beef brisket!!! Hmmmmm it was lovely!!!
i. w.
Hadn't been here for years. Went back and wasn't as good as I remembered
R. M.
Decent food, with good service. this is a good place for large groups but with the profusion of good barbecue joints near by and the increase in standard, it falls squarely in the middle of the pack.
if you want better barbecue, Bodeans and Pitt Cue and better, if you want atmosphere and booze, Reds True barbecue my suit, and thats without considering MeatMission, which isn't really barbecue but captures something else
K. N.
Did the hot wing challenge here with a group of friends which was good fun but overall the food, service and ambience is very average. Recommend for a quick burger on a night out in the area but would not come just for the food.
N. A.
Amazing place with great food and the people that they work there they are such an awesome ,friendly and very polite . I will come back for sure . I love it ! 😄
D. C.
Delicious, fantastic food. Been here a few times and thoroughly enjoy! but this last time service was a bit slow around bill time. 25 minutes...
M. M.
Whilst the food was very tasty it was a bit too expensive. I was particularly disappointed with the Devastator challenge in that you have to pay for it if you complete the challenge! The Devastator is £23! It's a great burger but nowhere near worth that kind of money. Just a marketing plan really.
M. G.
Everything was perfect. Honestly some of the best food I've ever had and the service was super quick. Would definitely visit again. If you come here, you'll never be able to go to TGI Fridays again because it will be garbage in comparison.
N. I.
It was packed but we found a place outside. I had my first Pickleback and it wasn't horrible. After that, I couldn't really remember much about the meal itself but the mac and cheese side was a delight.
R. S.
Really tasty burgers. Nice range with plenty of different ingredients and plenty of meat. Size of the burgers is always generous, not much of a queue at the takeaway diner.
g. b.
Top quality burger, enjoy!
T. C.
I'm a big fan of Red Dog Saloon, the portions change everytime I visit one of the restaurants. The food is amazing! But they need to keep to an agreed portion size.
A. C.
Loved it, as soon as i walked in i loved the feel of it, loved the music and the decor, was asked to wait for 2 minutes as she said the place normal has to take bookings to get a seat, but because there were 2 of us we got a seat straight away, was told we could stay for 2 hours maximum which was fair enough as i dont like sitting around after eating.
Service was good come up to us straight away and asked what drinks we would like,
Drinks came straight away, we then ordered and i had the 16 hr smoked pork butt burger, and my boyfriend had the standard hamburger,
both were deliciousss could not fault it, the meat was so succulent and the chips were extra crispy and tasty.. also loved the slaw on the side.
The waitress was a bit annoying as she kept walking over and looking at our meals, like we were going to commit a crime or something, and one of the male waitresses did keep touching up a female waitress but other than that, was amazing.
Price was good 26pound for both of us,
Will deffo be going again! Ribs next time :-)

London’s Hoxton Square isn’t short of quality food establishments, but right at the head of the pack is Red Dog Saloon. This American BBQ joint offers a selection of the best classic staples from across the pond using the highest quality ingredients and a huge dollop of expertise. Want an authentic sit down American BBQ experience? Here is your answer.
When meeting owner Tom his passion for his business was immediately clear. No wonder why his feathers were hardly ruffled when told by the negative folk when leaving his previous job that the American restaurant had already been. His answer: “It really hadn’t” was all part of his vision to take traditional fast-food recipes and elevate them to restaurant quality levels using the best ingredients.

The food was tasty, also did the spicy chicken wing challenge! It was beyond hot very deadly lol. I was made to side a form before taking the challenge, i didn't even manage to eat one wing
S.
Amazing food, good service. The super spicy chili chicken wings are as advertised - need to sign a waiver and wear gloves when eating them. I tried one bite, surprised I'm still alive.
A. F.
I think this is a venue where you would only bother going to if you're doing one of their food challenges as the food really isn't that great.
Staff were fine and the decor was nice enough but unless you're coming here for the spicy wings challenge or the burger challenge, I'd go somewhere else.
S. G.
The food is delicius and very friendly staff
Good atención quick serving
Love it
Recommended 100% 👏👍👍👍👍👌

Carnivore platter, chicken wings, burgers and thick shakes... freakishly amazing. Go - you won't be disappointed!
H. S.
Decent American BBQ - i had the Philly Cheesesteak burger
M. T.
I had there one of the best burgers ever (American Hot). Delicious fries as well. The overall impression topped with the vintage atmosphere of the place.
j. m.
It was ok and staff work hard shame the meats where dry
