Reviews of Saikei Chinese Restaurant
S. C.
This restaurant is quite an unknown restaurant, more like if you know, then you know but if not then you wouldn't even know it's here type of place. Although its been at this location for a long time. The food on the other hand, it's 👌👌👌 the food is delicious. Can be pricey but with the quality of food you receive then you won't complain. They serve dim sum from mid day to late afternoon which is nice for a light snack if you want. But the main can still be ordered. The decor seems a little out dated but nonetheless I would recommend giving this place a try. Staff are also friendly. A good venue for special occasions too
C. P.
Love coming here for dim sum, seems to be the place be for Chinese families in southeast London. The service is efficient and polite. It's easier to get a parking space and a table if you come early at about 11am on the weekend. You have to pay for parking now, there's a QR code you scan at the table and it costs £3.50...for some reason, you get charged more if you use the app.
D. D.
We went for the Dim sum menu. And we really enjoyed all that we ordered. So go for Lunch if you fancy Dimsum .
P. N.
The food tastes good and authentic. I would give the food a rating of 4/5. Parking costs £3.50. However, the service was horrible and only deserved 1 star. The waiters were not attentive and stood right next to our table and chatted and laughed. When the food was served, they didn't say which dish it was or at least "enjoy your meal". They simply put the dish on the table and rushed away even though the restaurant was not busy. No one came to clear our table after the main so there were used and messy plates when we had desserts. Staff seemed inexperienced. The restaurant automatically applied 12.5% service charge to the final bill but there was hardly any service.

Came here with some friends for dim sum on a Friday lunchtime. The service was great and the dim sum were excellent! Really good quality, and served piping hot and very quickly.
The pricing for each item was very reasonable - we had 10 dishes and tea and it came to £60 for the three of us. Will definitely visit again, thanks for a great lunch!
J. J.
Authentic yum cha and good value! Closest to what you would get in Hong Kong. Don't know why it's rated 3.9. I think it should be rated higher. Will be my go to yum cha place going forward.

2nd visit - Sunday lunch 3/5 stars.
The quality of the food is consistent, no change.
However on the 2nd visit it was a Sunday lunch time and it was packed. The wait staff really struggled to manage with the food and service (it was actually very poor service), missing items, staff just walking past, 20+ minutes to get the bill.
1st visit - Monday lunch 5/5 stars.
Dim sum or Yum Cha whatever you call it.
This is a good place to eat, there isn't a super large variety list but has a good enough variety. Wait staff are great.
Two things to note if you are considering here, arrive early as this place fills out quickly (queueing system) and you have to factor in parking fees (for those that hate paying for parking). (Use the QR code to pay inside the restaurant instead of the outside boards there charge different rates.)
H. V.
Great dim sum with a wide selection of dishes. You are not able to book for daytime dim sum so expect a wait for a table on the weekend. Bit slow to pay but the staff were flying around so must be understaffed, they were working so hard
C. C.
Go for the dim sum menu and go when it’s not busy (late afternoon 2-3 p.m). The quality of the food is comparable to other dim sum restaurants in Chinatown, you do have to pay for parking, but hey it’s cheaper than a trip into central London! I’m so pleased we found this place, sure the venue might need upgrading, but the place is clean and large and service is decent when the crowd has died down. Good for large parties and it’s fairly spacious inside. A decent number of classic dim sum options, all cooked deliciously and prices do reflect London pricing but I feel it’s reasonable for the quality. I haven’t eaten off the western menu so I can’t comment.
This is pretty much our go to yum cha place and I couldn’t be happier. Theres a reason why there are so many East Asians families queuing up here on the weekends - myself included :)

Lovely Big Chinese restaurant with good menu. Been coming here many years.
Every dish was tasty & good size.
Only one let down is Parking. Which used to be free for customers but now you have to scan & pay .
Would of been a perfect 5 * if they cover cost of parking because we spend over over £100.
I don't live in the area have to across town come here. I would still come but less often since they've change parking.
W. Z.
I am a regular eater at this restaurant. I come to here every other week. Dim Sum (morning tea) is available.
Food is delicious and service is good.
Parking is free, you have to enter your reg number in a iPad at reception. At the busy time, you have to wait in long queue to get a table.
Recommended for you.
M. L. S.
Big selection of dishes. Get your parking validated, and get in early to avoid queues. Taste wise, as expected, would gladly come back but also wouldn't have this place in mind as a must when coming back to London either, so 3* for me 👍
S. C.
Food
The food was quite delicious and authentic here. Surprised to read others saying the food was bland. If anything, I’d say it was slightly over seasoned.
Portions were better than restaurants in Chinatown in central London.
Service
I had no problems with the service. Servers weren’t overly friendly but were attentive.
Ambience
Minimal decor.
Price
Good prices for dim sum in London.
J. S.
“Sunday brunch” is like a church service for Chinese across the world. We will do it with our family or friends, we will eat together, laugh together. So, Please allow me to name this restaurant as “Chinese Church of North Greenwich”. He he
K. K.
I have been having dim sum for years. One of the best Dim Sum in London and price is still reasonable esp with everything so expensive.
I have always love the extra space the restaurant provides.
A. E.
Nice restaurant with free parking, food selection is very good and similar what you get in London China Town. There are two menus available, the food in photos is from the smaller menu.
M. S.
Good chinese restaurant (mostly Cantonese). The food is good and the service fast. I mostly go on the weekend when they offer yum cha. I recommend the prawn dumplings(xiajiao) and salt and pepper pork ribs. Parking is available on side, although the car park fills up on Saturdays and Sundays at lunch time. Just register your registration plate with the reception. The only downside is that the restaurant itself is a bit dated in its decoration.
S. H.
Food was beautiful , price was ridiculous and pay 2 park smh. But the staff were horrible will not go back again , very rude and offended by the whole situation , a real disappointment for me and my group
M.
Service was ok. Restaurant was busy on arrival. Meal did come out quick. Food was quite nice. Fried Ice Cream was the best dessert. Just a tad pricey. Would recommend Dim Sum
f. r.
If you like authentic Chinese food then this is the place to go in South London. The dim sum is fantastic. We have been a regular customer of this restaurant since it opened. Evening menue is just what you wiuld want. Great food & service.
Unfortunately there is now a car parking charge so be prepared to park & pay.
j. s. P.
Very open and big restaurant. Good for to eating out, work parties and weddings. There are variety of seating arrangements. Lots parking and a Holiday Inn Hotel above the restaurant.
Reception is a bit tacky and boring. Front is often littered with cigarette butt's despite being a Ash Tray there.
T. L.
Got there 15 mins before opening, and already a queue had started, which only got longer after 1h 45 mins. Great quality dim sum , and all other dishes with cooked well (not too oily). Particularly liked thier steams pork ribs dim sum. Thier egg tarts were great too. Give your car reg in a the start to receive 2 hrs free parking.
M. D.
Beware a considerable wait if you're going for dim sum. This place is very popular and you could end up waiting up to an hour.
Food and service was average. Read some real horror stories about the AWFUL service here but thankfully wasn't that bad. It was very cold though if not actively hostile.
Food is average. I suspect Some of it is brought in frozen from the Chinese supermarket that's close by. The less common/popular item seemed better quality.
It's an an ok place but there is far better put there.
M. H.
3.5 slightly above average Chinese dim sum. If they didn't overfry the crispy noodles I would give it a 4. Solid dim sum overall, very good beef Cheung fun with honourable mentions.
P. G.
Other than dim sum, their roasted duck is a must-have. Good staff service and free parking are bonus.
S. T.
This is why you don't order when you're hungry... You end up ordering everything on the menu! Had to eat all of this quick time to make room for round 2.
Lunchtime on a Sunday is super peak time for dim sum, so didn't expect much in terms of service, but staff were pleasant when you managed to flag them down.
Wheelchair access ✔️. Car parking is very limited so we had to park at the Odeon and make our way over. Get there early to avoid long waiting times and queues.
Y. M.
Dim sum was fantastic and quality and quantity were so good. Food very tasty and suited everybody. Service was top class, better than Chinatown. Price was reasonable. We will recommend everyone to go there. Will go there again for evening meal soon.
L.
Dim sum is ok but I prefer to eat other dishes.
Beef filet Cantonese sauce and Japanese bean curd with Enoki mushroom hot pot are my favorite dishes.
P. L.
Extremely delicious. Most high quality dim sum in London. Unrivalled prices. Sometimes have to queue but worth it.
N. L.
A good test of a dim sum/ Chinese restaurant is how they dish out the classic crispy noodles with mixed meat. I was disappointed with their offer, small dark and lacking meat. Overall ok for the rest of the dim sum but slightly expensive. We ordered another noodle dish near the end of the meal because we just wasn't fully full. Ho fun with seafood. Ho fun is the flat rice noodles, this was well cooked and nicely presented dish. £71 for 6 people, would be £65 at other dim sum restaurants. Free parking when eating here, just tell reception your car number plate.
F. M.
Been coming here for years, great tasting great quality food. Payment for the car park is done by q code inside.
S. C.
There are many ways to cook Chinese food and therefore many people have different tastes.
For me, my family and my friends, this is by far the best that we have tried in the South East area including those in China town. This includes both dim sum, normal meals and the wedding banquets (where I hosted my wedding).
They have always been consistent with a comfortable atmosphere and reasonable pricing. They are very accommodating to kids and the waiters and waitresses are often having a little play with them.
Couldn't recommend enough.
K. H.
Not so crowded in the afternoon on a weekday, the food came to the table fairly quickly. Good customer service. A parking fee can be paid at the table where you sit by scanning a QR code.
J. A.
Good dim sum experience. Not much for ambience (and no carts coming to tables) but food was good.
s.
The food is so good, i could eat it until I die. You should try this restaurant
T. D.
Great place to go for dim sum on sunday afternoon. Go early as can wait after 12.
K. A.
Great quality, authentic Chinese food, reasonably priced... two separate a la carte menus, one of which is more traditional Chinese food, lots of unique dishes on there that are well worth a try (including jellyfish, which was very tasty!)
0.
Lovely food! Service is a bit slow but it was very busy around afternoon time.
G. V.
Nice flair good food love to eat Dim sum there with my family always when I drive to London and we are not in to mood to go chinatown.
R. K.
Amazing food but a little pricy. I guess it’s also time to renovate this place.
E. E.
Good food, and better customer service. They even got the food out pretty quickly I can allys respect that in a restaurant.
J. C.
The oddest experience (as a non-Chinese person) to find a restaurant in London almost completely filled with Chinese people clearly enjoying authentic dim sum. Necessary to come bang on opening time unless you want to wait >1 hour. Food well worth it, particularly the perfect custard tarts.
D. ..
This is our local dim sum place. Free parking. Just need to give your registration number plate when entering restaurant. Good food and service. Never had a problem when we come.
P. P.
Amazing Chinese food, possibly the best I have ever had! Staff are nice and welcomming. Food selection is great! Service charge is a bit of a downer however.
And for people not wanting to pay the parking charge for the hotel, park in the neighbouring retail park who give 5 hours free!
A. B.
I've been doing here for years before and after its refurb. Honestly such good customer service, very well managed. Wish the staff smiled a little more sometimes :,)
The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you get and portions are normally good ( although I'm the recent years it feels the noodle Dishes have gotten smaller. And I completely to not like the 12.5% ( mandatory ) service charge. But they are so good it won't stop me from going there. Just wish I could tip out of choice and to whom I wish to tip too.
There was a lady who served me and my partner recently and omg bless her heart she was nervous and apologised a few times for things that didn't really matter to us. At the end when she was charging our card I told her that her smile and service made the meal ( which it did !) And she told my partner that she is better watch out because she now loves me loooool. But honestly I hope at gets confident because she has the biggest smile in that place that I've seen in years and it was a nice change.
5 star for everything at this place!!! A true diamond of a place to eat.
S. L.
Food is always nice and staff is friendly.
Service is quick.
Best place for DimSum x
T. T.
I have been going to this restaurant for years...and the food has always been amazing!!!!!
Unfortunately, when they closed during covid and reopened a few weeks ago, they must have lost their original chef!!!
Their food is not the same anymore. Its drier, and the ratios of what is in the portions are not the same. Ie the noodles used to be half veg, half noodles....its now if you see veg enjoy it!!!! Because there isn't any!!!
Their prices have also gone up for certain dishes by about 50p each.
Overall....OK. but it will not be my go to place for Chinese food anymore 😕😒😪
W. L.
Good food and good menu. But the new parking charges will make me consider twice about going again
A. L.
Food and service was perfect as before. Ordered a bit too much even though there was 16 of us Inc children.
S. L.
Authentic dim sum experience. Everything is really tasty and not too pricy. Can't believe we only managed to try it today! The only thing to be aware is it can get very busy during peak time and there is always a queue when I walked past it before (including today)
F. D.
Excellent food, but waited to long between meals.
Superb set menu for 2, delicious duck!!!
Busy place', full of chinese guests, which kind of documented, that the food is more than ok 👍
J.
Can’t go wrong at this dim sum restaurant, excellent food, prices are reasonable, service is okay. Been going here since I was a young kid! More than 15 years on and still loving it! Nom nom food!
V. H.
This is one of my favourite dim sum places in whole of london. Best selection of food. The food itself is so nice. Price is better than china town. Best place to park as well. Can be very busy on sunday brunch so be wary.
R. A.
Amazing food, quick and friendly service. I have been coming here for a few months now and it does get busy. The only downside now is that you have to pay £3.50 for parking whereas before it was free.
T. N.
Been here many times prior to Covid-19. Dim sum, dinner and weddings and all were pleasant experiences. Food was hot and service was speedy. However I came once when they just opened after lockdown and the service was very slow which is understandable, but we came at 1pm and left at 3:30pm and even then, some dishes that we ordered were missing! This was quite frustrating as we waited for quite a while and staff were quite inattentive. Hopefully things are better since then.
A.
A real local Chinese restaurant. Great authentic food. Everything tasted great. Recommend it
B. P.
large menu but nice very busy
T. P.
Delicious Dim Sum. Went on a Sunday for lunch. This restaurant is usually v. busy but this Sunday was nice and quiet. The staff are friendly and attentive. They do need to learn more about dietary requirements as had to ask for the manager for vegan options as the staff were clueless. That said our vegan member of the group did find a good vegetable option and our dim sums were great. Will definitely keep returning here. Ps: they also have parking
K. W.
Great food, good service
S. H.
I've been coming here for dim sum for years and still not disappointed. Good value with a relaxed atmosphere. Happy customer!
M.
Fast service, traditional dimsum choices and very lovely simple interior. My Chinese family and I only ever go here to eat our dimsum :)
N. C.
More than delicious! Very traditional Hong Kong style dimsum!
C. T. (.
I've only been to UK for a few months. My family is originally from HK and I've lived there for 7 years in my adulthood. I can definitely say I'll be coming back because a lot of the dimsum actually tastes like it is in Hong Kong.
I've ordered har gao (prawn dumplings), siu mai (pork&crab dumplings), char siu bao (roasted pork buns), nai won bao (custard bun), malay cake (steamed sponge cake), siu lun bao (shanghai buns / xiao long bao), lo bah go (turnip paste cake), egg tarts, and yow cha gwai / fry dough cheung fun. All of them tastes legitimate like it would in HK except for the custard bun, xiao long bao, and fry dough cheung fun. The custard bun was because of our ridiculous standards of having a runny yolk variation in HK, but it was pretty good like the ones you'd find in custard bread in bakeries there. The xiaolongbao didn't have a lot of soup in it as I wished it had but otherwise okay, and the cheung fun was not properly cut and/or the fry dough wasn't fresh. But overall, I would visit again because everything was on point, just as it would be if I was doing yumcha with my family.
I see a lot of other reviews saying that the service is bad but honestly, it is just the authentic experience type of service you'd get in Hong Kong. Are you even in a HK restaurant if the waiters are pretending to not see you? Sure, the waiters might not be too responsive or making sure everything's good like western restaurants, but I gotten way better service here than I would ever eating dimsum in Hong Kong. They actually acknowledge my requests and go get it done, and they are not being impatient and yelling at me (like in HK). So as far as service go, you are getting the real deal, and embrace the fact they are like that!
L. L.
Dim sum was pretty good but service was a bit slow today.
S. W.
Great service, good dim sum and dishes. Vegetarian options are available.
M. A.
Great food, excellent service, clean toilets.
m. j.
Good food and lovely ambiance but the staffs are either grumpy or patronising......
D.
I was lead to a free table nicely when I came there. It was my first time seeing a checkbox menu (if I can call it that)! I was a bit confused about that.
Ordered the food, food came quickly. It. Was. So. Tasty. I can't stress enough how good the food was! Definitely going back to eat there again.
One thing that bothered me was that the table cover were two big paper towels (I would call them that) so my hand would get stuck to it (I had sleeves that had bow ties at the end of them and they would get stuck to the paper). Otherwise there were no problems.
The staff was nice.
A. Z.
Food is ok. Watch out for the parking charges £4 minimum!
N. S. c.
Went here tonight with a couple of friends never knew it was there .well it was amazing gorgeous food very friendly and welcoming staff it's a must if you love Chinese food will definitely return
B. S.
Service was very slow but food was worth it
A. O.
The food is excellent and I would have given it 5 stars, however the starters were taken away before we had finished. They then took my first glass of wine away before I had finished it and then when I went to pay took the second one which was 2/3rds full. They automatically charge 12.5% service charge and felt I had no choice but not to pay this as they had taken away more than that in wine. Sad as the food is of a high standard. When this was picked up with them they denied the wine was taken away!!! I was staying in the hotel next door and it was have been an easy option to return, but will find somewhere else who knows what customer service is!
L. L.
My local yum cha spot. It's ok for a fix but not the best for food quality and taste. There is free parking . There didn't seem to be any measures in place to manage social distancing and tables were arranged as per usual. The waiting area also had no social distancing measures
C. C.
Nice dim sum restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Need to come to the restaurant by 11:30 during weekend to avoid the queue.
f.
This place is a great authentic Chinese restaurant - you will see mostly Asian people here which is always a great sign! My favourite is the dim sum lunch menu which runs until around 4.30/4.45 pm where you can order lots of small dishes to share. I have tried so many new dishes this way. The service is always quick and efficient. Parking wise make sure you always give your registration upon arrival as it's under a hotel and you'll receive a penalty if you do not.
J. C.
Very good authentic dim sum at great prices. It does get very busy, so service not always the best and the parking situation during peak times does get a bit annoying, but definitely worth all the hassle and queueing.
M. P.
Best Chinese restaurant in the South...especially Dim Sum at lunchtime. A little pricey but value for money, especially the seafood...scallops and asparagus superb, and won ton and the hot and sour soup.... out of this world! I have gone so many times this year and now know names of staff. Julie on the door is particularly helpful. Went today with my brother.....delicious meal, couldn't fault it....thank you.
J.
Fantastic food and great service.
Bonus points for free parking!
Also doesn’t break my bank account when I visit… 👍🏼
B.
Decent food, decent priced ; service ….. meh
A.
Gets seriously busy but we'll worth the wait to get a table. Huge selection of steamed dumplings. Authentic and crazy fast service. Don't expect attentative first class service as that's not what this place is about but the food is fantastic and well worth the trip.
E. R.
Large restaurant with parking outside. Accessibility is great for wheelchairs and prams. Toilets inside.
Very long wait if you don't get there as soon as it opens! A large selection of dim sum is available until 4/4.30 and a large regular menu is available all day. Choice for vegetarians is very limited on both menus.
Food is overall very good, have been here a few times and will continue to come back. Staff are efficient but could smile more!
N. W.
Friendly staffs, delicious Dim Sum!! Highly recommended and it’s a must visit when we shop at local Chinese groceries.
M. R.
I was staying in the Holiday Inn next door. This was close and I couldn’t be bothered to travel.
From the outside, it is not immediately obvious this is a restaurant at all.
Inside it is big and very bland! Imagine a hotel function room with round tables scattered about and you get the picture. Totally lacking any atmosphere.
But
The staff were great, the food was really tasty, the beer was cold and the bill was reasonable
If I stay in this hotel again, I will return. I had a good meal and service was great but perhaps they can do something about the layout because right now it’s a bit odd.
2.
Great food but you have to pay for parking now
J. F.
Probably the top restaurant outside of Central London and of the southeast in general. Excellent quality food served here, a wide variety of dishes and dim sum at lunch time. Very good price, cosy atmosphere and parking on site. Cards are accepted! Be mindful of weddings, though. Sometimes the restaurant will be booked for the whole day for marriage celebrations.
R. L.
Nice for Dim Sum at lunch time (avoid Sundays after 12:30 as always packed). Just remember to register your car number plate at reception when you go in for free parking. Evening meals are also very tasty with a good selection of dishes
R. C.
Great for dim sum. We always come here for dim sum. Saturday lunch time is very busy, packed with families (then you know they are good) but won't wait for very long. Not expensive, dim sum 4 people within £50. Since we move to this area, it become my favourite dim sum restaurant.
W. K.
Decent food, service is OK. Pricing is average for the food quality, though the downfall would be that local parking is hard, the restaurant only has roughly 10-20 spots, otherwise you would have to use Holiday Inn's car park which is next to the restaurant, though sometimes they shut it down to use for their own customers.
H. S.
No need to go to China town for real authentic Chinese cuisine. Come here for the best dimsum south of the river as well as great dishes. Definitely the best Roast duck in Greenwich. The other places are a let down compare to this restaurant
T.
Had Dim Sum the times I have been there with my boyfriend and really enjoyed each time. The food is gorgeous and the staff are polite and efficient. Looking forwards to our next visit and would definitely recommend it
A. C.
Very good value and delicious dimsum. Free parking.
V. O.
This is an excellent place to have lunch or dinner with your friends. The price of meals is reasonable. The representative at our attendance was friendly and cared for our needs. The food was delicious, and the environment was pleasant. It's the right place for a group lunch or meeting.
b. p.
Great Chinese food in an unexpected place. Fantastic Dim Sum but if you come for lunch at the weekend arrive early or expect queues. You are unlikely to feel rushed but service generally very fast to allow for high turnover. Prices very reasonable. Lots if Chinese families suggests my sense that this is the real deal is not misplaced.
j. p.
A very popular Chinese restaurant for the Local Chinese Community in SE London.
P. (.
Food is good and opens early for dim sum on the weekends (1100). Is the most convenient for those living in the South side of the river and Is located within/next door to the holiday Inn Greenwich. Main to is to come before 12 to avoid having to wait for dim sum on the weekends as it's first come first serve. Also remember to give your registration vehicle number at the front desk to avoid penalty charges in the car park.
A. H.
Popular with the local Chinese and Vietnamese communities. Good for dim sum. Not exactly a fancy place, but the food is decent. Service is generally efficient, though personally I avoid the really busy times on Sunday early afternoon.
C. L.
Delicious dim sum at an unfussy restaurant - service is quick and attentive. I am a regular and being able to come back before Covid has really made my year!
H. S.
Delicious dim sum, great service.
K. Q.
This is the first time I have been to Saikei restaurant. One of my friends gave recommendation about this place The food was okay, and not salty like the other restaurants. I must say that we really enjoyed the food, but the service in the end did not do what we have asked them to do. We were 10 of us and spent £180 on that night. As we had ordered too much of food, we could not finish it, so we asked the waitress to pack it for us. When we came home we open the food bag and was very disappointed to see only 4 containers of food instead of 6 containers. First of all I did not like to waste the food because it cost so much of money.
D. S.
Good food. You have to pay for 6 hrs parking as parking is not free
J. S.
We had Dim Sum here, it was good without being fantastic. However, the total bill was super value for money. I would go there again and expect good Chinese food at a reasonable price.
A. B.
Used to be better value and used to be packed out - haven’t been for a couple of years and the food was good, hot and tasty with fresh ingredients. However the interior has seen better days (carpets worn and toilet areas weathered and dirty in places). Prices have shot up by about 25% and as a result the place was half empty on a Friday night - it used to be packed out with lots of Chinese customers but they were nowhere to be seen - average £25 a head (with no alcoholic drinks). My honest advise is try them - the food is good -but overpriced - you could travel to China town and have a meal for the same price and you won’t be in a restaurant stuck next to the A 2 under a hotel that needs refurbishment - plus they add a 12.5 % surcharge and you’ll struggle to get a smile or friendliness from the staff.

No.1 place for Dim Sum. Been going here since I was a kid and theres nothing like it elsewhere. Good value and great taste.
I.
The place is popular among Chinese customers and the food is usually good. However my last visit was at a probably uncommon time (6pm) and the food was quite bad: the chicken was dry and chewy, the noodles burned and too salty.
Most of the waiters were unhelpful and looked quite annoyed.
B. B.
This restaurant is unusually situated in the ground floor of a Holiday Inn, but this works to its advantage because there is quite a lot of free parking available. The best judges of the food are the Chinese, who readily drive there for a meal after stocking up at the nearby Chinese Cash and Carries. (Sei Woo for one) They cater for Dim Sum, (when it can be a bit of a scrum to get a table), and have a full choice of other dishes available. On occasions, primarily at weekends, the resataurant is booked out for Chinese Wedding reception feasts.
The only downside centres around the toilet facilities. They really need to be upgraded.
P. B. I.
One of my favourite sit down Chinese Restaurants in London. Perfect for any date! 😉 Their signature fried ice cream is my absolute favourite! 😍😋
L. C.
Great food. However, waiting times can be long because it's so popular, some of the staff are a bit grumpy, and prices are pretty high. But the high price reflects better quality food than you can expect in many cheaper Chinese restaurants.
P. N.
Very popular and good food. There were queues at 10.45am. We spent an hour altogether there. Feels like they want to chuck us out the minute they saw we put our chopstick down.
P. C.
We were the guests of friends so did not know anything about the cost. The restaurant had many chinese customers ,a
good sign I thought. The food was not like the normal dishes you see in a chinese restaurant. The fodd was delicious and varied and the service was first class.Parking is avilable behind the restaurant but you may have to wait for a space.Give reg no. at reception and the restaurant pays the charge. All in all a vey pleasant experience.
A. R.
We had stopped going to the Pennisula (as it was previously called) for quite some years and found ourselves back here because we were nearby and let down by 2 other restaurants since it was Chinese New Year.
We were pleasantly surprised that we got seated relatively quickly and that the food was GOOD. We had had a terrible experience before arriving having been told that crab had been sold out at 6pm at several places. Only one complaint, which was that the crab shell was hardly cracked and we struggled to eat it even with the nut cracker. The crab was a little overcooked and had no sauce but otherwise we wanted crab and crab is what we got and since my friend had come into town to celebrate Chinese New Year together we were very happy.
Another twist in the story is that we will now be back for yum char as I've always gone to this place for dim sum, the free parking is always a bonus.
S. C.
Love this place so much I had my wedding here. The food is always great and has a wide selection. My only gripe is that it gets really busy and you can wait over an hour sometimes for a table, a testament to how good it is.
A. C.
I always come here for special occasions with my family, it is a favourite for dim sum that's better than Chinatown. Huge tables and white paper tablecloths, this place is always bustling with large Chinese families tucking in to their celebratory meals with zealous appetite. I love this place dearly.
L. D.
Doesn't seem to disappoint. Dim sum here is always good. Enough staff to serve the restaurant and food comes out hot and fast.
P. M.
We love the lobster noodles, the prawn and the scallops with vegetables. The dumplings are nice too. Overall I think it has quality food with reasonable price. It is one of our favourite Chinese places in Canary Wharf area. It is walkable from Cutty sark DLR.
A. P.
Good Chinese restaurant. Full of Chinese customers which is a good sign, had a flashback to being in Hong Kong! 😀👍
S. V.
I must say the food is excellent. Isn't that the most important thing? Yes. I'm sure we would all agree but it would help if the staff weren't neurotic, uptight and lacking in sense of humour. To their credit they did try to relax and chill out after the initial Spanish-style inquisition over how many of us are coming, were we sure that many are coming, how do we want the tables joined, is the rest of the group definitely coming, when are they coming, for goodness sake CALM DOWN PEEPS! But yeah, eventually (when we all did arrive) we were asked our choices, given out drinks, starters and mains and I must say its one of the better Chinese meals around (my comparison is based on similar restaurants in Leicester, Birmingham and one renowned one in Hong Kong) - and I would say it was really good. Tasty, filling, and rich in flavour. Well done. Just please provide the staff with some beta-blockers and all would be well!
M. L.
MAJOR ATTITUDE PROBLEM. Seven of us went there on Chinese New Year's day, honestly the food was not bad and very reasonably priced as well. Unfortunately when we were trying to spilt the bill on our bank cards the attending staff muttered 2 rude comments in Cantonese - '幾百張卡' (few hundred cards) and '扑街' (fall in street).
V. T.
Absolutely amazing food!
Always fresh and so yummy - highly recommend! Much better dim sum than most places in China Town.
W. D.
Dim sum and evening menu are above average, very quick and efficient service. Can get very very busy on a sunday and bank holidays for dim sum. Parking can be hard but you can try park near odeon and walk over.
D. W.
We freqently go to Saikei and usually go for a quick dim sum. The quality of the food is decent, the service is typical of chinese restaurants. Don't expect to be able to book a table on Bank Holidays or on Sundays, when the queues are rather long.
J. W.
The food is ok, they do a wide range of dimsum. I have been here many times, it is a mixed bag - I have had great dimsum and bad dimsum here. The service here is hit and miss. Sometimes friendly staff, sometimes rude and blunt staff. Unfortunately one time, we caught one of them insulting us under their breath in Chinese mandarin. Overall, I would recommend coming here for dimsum rather than for their dinner.
N. M.
No one to serve us when we arrived even when not busy. So much service charge. Some foods are extremely expensive. Would appreciate if I got discount next time. Hope this helps.
B. L.
The food here is the best we've had since moving to the UK over a year ago. Excellent menu, and very well prepared. The staff are friendly and the dining area is nice. Highly recommended.
A. C.

R. W.
My second visit to this place. Dim Sum is freshly made. Seating not over crowded. Bright and airy. Staff are friendly.
C. N.
Best dim sum in south East London at the moment. Better than HKC and Lotus. Get here on the dot to get a table, otherwise it will be impossible to get a table. Staff, food and location are great.
K. S.
Great good, totally recommend, especially the duck!
m. m.
Food was much better this time than the past few times I visited the dishes were great but service is a bit impersonal and could improve hence a 4but chefs need a 5 star 🌟 the place is very busy but parking is available and is popular with families so busy and a bit loud at times. Enjoy
Y. A.
Great food, poor service. Food tastes really great and prices on the par with other restaurants in London this size. Staff are not very friendly though and parking can be a nightmare during busy hours and weekends.
P. C.
Very delicious food except one that not to my liking which is lotus rice pack. Didn't try the siu long Pao as it not recommended by one of the regular client there. All of us quite enjoyed our meal.
D. H.
Great for DimSum which also means it's very popular. Be prepared for a queue although with plenty of tables it moves quite well.
Parking is free but again as it's popular you might have to wait for a space to come free.
C. N.

P. V.
The food tasted really nice. Whilst it came in dribs and drabs and the waiters/waitresses sermed to have forgotten how to smile the food was great with just the right amount in each portion.
P. G.
I had read a few mixed reviews and thought I would book for an evening with friends, the parking is free and they take your reg. at reception. The food was very good service not bad but the place was a bit tired. We enjoyed the evening and I would go there again.
A. K.
Always go for Nam Cha on a sunday whenever we are visiting the retail park. Always very busy, food is good, but some of the waiting staff need to be more observant regarding their customers. Waited over 15 minutes to be served, which doesn't usually happen. Once served the food usually starts.arroving within 5-10 mins.
A. L.
Go to place when eating Chinese locally. Dim sum is really nice. The place is always busy during lunch on the weekends! Great stir fry noodle dishes.
J.
Good food at a decent price, we normally go on Sunday at 12pm for dim sum, if you can't get there by that time on a Sunday I would suggest arriving after 2pm or the wait time for a table can be unbearable.
K. L.
Decent dim sum, free parking but it does get very busy so get there early and be prepared that you may need to queue
J. K.
It is okay, convenient parking. Food is palatable. Perhaps the only decent dim sum in North Greenwich. Not that there are many chinese restaurants in North Greenwich..
I. L.
Delicious
Good quality
R.
Now called Saikei. Fantastic food. Great service. Waiters very friendly, good suggestions off the menu. Food arrived very quickly. I'm coming back tomorrow lunch for Dim Sum. Also 10% for Holiday Inn Guests.
D.
3 Stars is generous. The food was good however, the service was very poor. Waiters did not give eye contact or engage. Other than that I would recommend.
T. G.
This restaurant serves a great variety and quality food, but it is now expensive on its DIM SUM menu
E. C.
The food is really good. It's not busy right now after lockdown though. But it's usually busy from 11 to 12
C. C. P.
Loove thee experience, vibes and atmosphere! ❤ Tea and Dim Sum was 👌 Defo recommend 👌
B. G.
Staff very helpful and welcoming. Some of our dishes were burnt others greasy. Spacious, but in great need of renovation including the toilets. Carpets dirty.
T. C.
Well established large Chinese restaurant. Good menu with traditional classic Chinese dishes and much more. Quality is good although portions are small and price relatively high.
A. C.
Ate there recently, restaurant was very busy. We had the set menu for two and each course was delicious and arrived quickly. Would certainly eat there again if I am in the area.
J. K.
Been coming here for years the Dim Sum is good, and the evening meals the portion size is quite generous, overall the food here is very good.
G. W.
So busy on a Sunday for dimsum. No egg tarts left either! Rest of it was tasty and food arrived swiftly.
M. B.
The food was lovely and the sevice was good. But they should ask whether or not we would like chopsticks and not assume we do not want them to eat our meal with.
M. D. P.
Dim Sum is awesome here. Service is quick however the staff's attitude could be better- on other hand with amount of guests and food coming in & out kind of understand them
C. P.
Proper Chinese Dim Sum restaurant. Food is genuinely delicious and staff is friendly. Love the food there. Highly recommend!!
D. N.
Best place for dim sum in the UK and indeed better than most of the places I have been to in Hong Kong. Local and authentic
D. K.
Wonderful food, very lush looking restaurant and the service is great. Highly recommended, great place for family dinners. Parking is free if you eat @ the restaurant.
R. W.
My second visit to this place. Dim Sum is freshly made. Seating not over crowded. Bright and airy. Staff are friendly.
T. “. T.
One of my family's favourites, the char siu sou and chow ho fun are just a few favourites of mine, with options for takeaway if you cannot finish some of the food.
P. Y. C.
Good dim sum and very reasonably priced. Shame no takeaway is available during Lockdown.
J. S.
Fantastic food, same old good service
P. Y.
Dim Sum in London Greenwich best around. Sunday very very busy. No booking. Open at 11:00. Just wait for a seat.
j. s.
Best dim Sam so far
H. S. R.
The name now is Saikei and it is a great restaurant. Definitely the best Chinese cuisine in London. Have been there on many occasions with different groups of friends and they all love it.
M. M.
Great dim sum and authentic style cooking. Mains portions can be large. Can get very busy.
S. R.
Good and fast service. Portions are well sized and food is good. Nice surroundings to impress your date. Not your typical greasy Chinese.
J. N. (.
Been coming here for years. It is one of my favorite dim sum restaurants with great fresh dishes. I highly recommend coming here for lunch.
M.
Nice food
S. D. L.
With comparison to dim sum food in Hong Kong, it is not the best but it is the best in England I think. Traffic is easy to go near cental London, with free parking.
P. S.
Superb service and spectacular Cantonese food in this enormous restaurant full of happy Asian families. If you dont like this restaurant, you don't belong here in the first place - stick to sausages and mash in your local pub.
A.
Nice tasting food but the customer service was poor. The waiters make you feel uneasy and unwelcome.
A. H.
Great restaurant, the food is exquisite, and the portion sizes are great will definitely be back. Only thing is to be aware that it is part of a hotel - and aesthetically, looks like it is. Nonetheless, the food is great!
N. M.
lovley place to discover Chinese food
I. B.
Enjoied every single dish😋 lovely!
J. K.
The dim sum here is very good. But the parking, queues and the wait are on a next level! (Maybe I shouldn't visit on Mothers and Fathers day!)
B. C.
Good dimsum place underneath the Holiday Inn Hotel. Remember to leave your number plate at reception if parking to avoid a costly fine.
M. C.
most of the time the food here is amazing however it does have too much msg.
A. R.
Delicious as always and great service.
R. C.
It's fine but you'll find better dim sum places north of the river.
Concerns about cleaniness had really affected the reputation.
M. N.
My favourite Chinese restaurant in the whole of London! Would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves dim sum.
K. K.
great dim sum food. Not five-star service, but generally friendly and very efficient..
for the cost of the food, it is worth driving there!
W. S.
Mediocre, would not come back again. Perhaps because I have had better dim sum at same price range at Golden Phoenix and Royal China.
A. P.
Food was good, service was maybe a 3 star but I go purely for the food
M. G.
Reasonably priced dim sum. Gets crowded on weekends so I'd suggest arriving early. Ample free parking for customers.
D. T.
Good choice and tasty food
M. B.
A pleasant place for dim sum or lunch with no parking fee. Just provide your car reg to the front counter.
J. L.
Food was okay but expect to wait 30mins atleast on a sunday. Was upsetting to see so many empty tables when we was finally seated.
H. T.
Best dim sum place in London. Hands down. Great food
H.
Very sweet customer service, we were catered to well right away and a member of staff I'd like to especially thank is Lisa for welcoming us warmly. Would recommend, I'd visit again!
R. N.
Nothing notable about Sakei - and nothing Japanese in it, either. Its an average mainstream Hong Kong Chinese fare. A bit wanting on the service, either inexperienced staff - have to ask for eveything. Eg. Starters arrive at the same time as main course. You have to say that you want the Starter first.
Q. Z.
The restaurant was bright and clean. It was very popular on weekend mornings. However the food was not as good as expected.
C. M. W.
Food is possibly the best Chinese food I've had. However the restaurant itself hasn't got much going for it and the service is not great.
L.
I came here for a party. Some dishes were good, some were ok. I particularly like the roasted suckling pig, lobster, sticky rice
E. L.
Great accessible restaurant with accessible toilet. Very popular with free parking. Go early on a Sunday, its packed out. Kids friendly.
J. L.
The golden standard for dim sum. You know a restaurant serving foreign cuisine is good when people of those ethnicities eat there themselves.
H. T.
Excellent Chinese food and service. Try not to over order as the portions are generous.
d. d.
One of my favourite chinese restaurants. Longstanding family favourites. Condistently good crab and sweetcorn soup, duck and pork dishes.
F. C.
Consistently good cooking with some very good dishes. Parking is a problem as it's very popular. Should move location!! Lewisham..Catford..Lots of parking.
S. B.
The meal we ate was decent. A bit stressful with the waiters watching over you all the time like you had disturbed them.
H. v.
Only authentic Chinese/cantonese dim sum place locally with parking but can be really busy.
Y. N.
Good for dim sum, dinner isn't too bad either and it's a good place to have a wedding banquet
m. 0.
I went to Saikei's restaurant today with my family and the service was 5 stars, the food was delicious and served on time. Highly recommended!!!!
S. L.

T. S.
Service was great. You get 4 hours free parking. Food is so so.. It wasnt tht greatest around the area.
K. F.
Loved this restaurant. Friendly staff. Good price. will go again the food was wonderful
C. H.
Pretty much your average dim sum restaurant, long waits during lunch hours and special days like mothers day etc - may need to book for those special occasions.
h. m.

S. H.
Dimsum is ok. Fast service. Gets really busy on a Sunday. Free parking available.

Fantastic food although decor dated. Worth it for a great atmosphere and proper Chinese food
s. Z.
Great place for dim sum on the weekend. Free parking and efficient service at reasonable prices.
M. L.
Lots of space for families to come and eat. Decor probably from a different era not recognised before 1970s.
T. Y.
Food is good. Services is really really bad. ALL the staff faces show you are not NOT welcome.
J. U.
Much improved; food great; service great; it's just let down by the old carpet and tired decor.
N. L.
So glad they have reopen. Dim Sum was delicious as always.
S. C.
Acceptable but nothing special. Convenient parking and location. Gets very busy over the weekend so be prepared to wait
