Reviews of Shaka Zulu

The restaurant decor is just amazing, it's huge, every chair, wall, statues are different, a whole other level.
Food is exquisite, exotic, and has many choices. Cocktails are nice and I was even more amazed by their deserts! The right amount of sweetness and perfect for 2.
The staff are super friendly & very laid-back, yet they attend to every need and come to check if everything is up to our liking.
Looking forward to go there on a night with live music!

Being South African, I had high expectations and the experience was just ok. The service is brilliant, food nice, but setting is quite gloomy which is odd considering all the natural outside beauty South Africa is known for. I can see the appeal if you are there for a night out though.
Pork was good but the description on the menu wasn’t quite what we got - no apple sauce and more carrots than savoy cabbage (if that even was savoy cabbage). The panna cotta was delicious and tasted like jelly and custard. Cheesecake didn’t seem baked also but was nice still.

The food was delicious, the service was excellent we had crocodile, ostrich and beef burger all with chips plus a free drink each all four of us had a fabulous meal would definitely recommend this Turkish restaurant it is not all spice. I am disabled and the staff took me down in there lift we had NO PROBLEM the staff are fantastic.

Lovely vibe, beautiful aesthetics, and our server Omar was really nice. I had mince spring rolls for a starter , which were quite dry and not very flavourful. I tasted crocodile for the first time, but I wasn't really impressed by it. My partner had different started and main and those were quite lovely and so were the desserts. I think what it was, was that we booked using a deal, and those that book using deals have a different menu and there is no variety. I would like to come again and try the different menu as there seems to be a greater selection of food and drinks. I would defo recommend Shaka Zulu for an experience.

Absolutely loved this place. We went on a 3 course meal through wowcher for £59 for 2 oeople that included a cocktail which was very nice. The food was outstanding and the temperature of the food was spot on. We had to pay £6 for each side dish we ordered and to upgrade your meal to steak, buffalo or crocodile steak was a extra £10 each but so worth it. The decor is amazing and the staff very nice, friendly and helpful. It was my son's birthday so I called in advance to tell them and when they brought our deserts there was a big happy birthday written in chocolate around the plate and the cake had a candle in it. Thanks Shaka Zulu for such a great night. We will be back!!

Enjoyed an amazing birthday there on a week day. The service was good, food was tasty and the venue itself is stunning. Definitely worth a visit, would check the menu before booking!
D. M.
Very nice venue spacious situated over two floors.
Each floor has a bar area. The decor was fantastic.
We were part of large hen party.
The food was very nice but the customer service was terrible. I don't know if it was because we were a part of largely group not enough staff. it's a set menu for larger groups.
We had to order ahead of the time and we still had to wait a while for our food.
Round about 10pm the music is turned up and a saxophone starts playing, it dance time now. It a good atmosphere worth going.

Date night with the BF. An impressive looking South African restaurant with a varied menu. The staff were friendly and accommodating and didn't rush us at all. Not the cheapest place which you can expect I guess but we had 3 courses and a cocktail deal which was great so worth checking that out before you book. I do think £6+ for a bottle of beer is a bit steep though! The exit is a little weird as feels like you're going through the back door but not the end of the World.
Overall...worth a visit!

We attended an event 'Badu Brunch' for a friend's birthday.
We had a set menu to choose our food from, I chose the sea bass which was delicious; the cabbage it was on needed a tad more cooking as it was too crunchy for my liking.
The drinks (cocktails) seemed watered down, every drink seemed to of been made different and had to be redone; that was the only issue that was frustrating.
The event ended with a bit of a party which was a good to work of all the food.

Superb! We had a virgin experience voucher and had already read some negative reviews so went with open mind. However we had a lovely evening. Firstly Shaka Zulu is an amazing place! Staff were great, there was a special menu but the cocktails included were decent, food was delicious and did not feel any need to upgrade, it was just £6 for a side each but they were large portions so could’ve shared. There was a service charge on but we’d had fantastic service. I couldn’t fault anything. The only thing I’d say if you’re giving someone the voucher it could be awkward if they weren’t aware of the extra things. Shaka Zulu itself was superb and highly recommend this venue.

Visiting South Africa is on my partners bucket list, so with that in mind I booked Shaka Zulu and i must say i was impressed. Shaka Zulu is a hidden gem. As the escalator decended into the venue i was intrigued, when the doors opened It felt as if i had left Camden and London altogether and entered into a whole new world, and the huge statue at the entrance is there to guard the ' Shaka Zulu' kingdom. I love interior decorating so i was instantly drawn to their attention to detail; with a display of African art and culture right down to the very fabric used on their chairs which were like sitting on mini thrones.
They had a variety of delicious food to choose from: if you are as adventurous as my partner and want to try something exotic like crocodile, which tasted delicious, or if you are like me who tends to stick to the usual. There's something for everyone.
Their drinks and deserts were exquisite.Try their South African traditional shot if you want to be adventurous. You will not be disappointed.
Their customer service was great. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Thank you Monica for making our night perfect.
The lighting, the music, the ambience was impeccable. Shaka Zulu is a speak easy restaurant where edge meets sophistication. P.S, I would NOT recomend this restaurant if you are boring and enjoy being bored.
A. A.
The venue was amazing. Looked beautiful. Apart from the chicken it was amazing food. The chicken was over cooked but a good overall evening.
Parking was horrendous, took me 45 mins to find somewhere to park. So if you go take the local transport.
Chicken was halal which was great.
J. G.
The atmosphere and ambience at this restaurant is just wow 👌🏽. I had a great time, the food was amazing and the staff were friendly. It's a great restaurant to host parties or special occasions as your guests would be very impressed 😊
J. M. L.
Stunning place with excellent service and really exotic food. We tried the zebra steak and the crocodile steak , they absolutely beautiful!
10/10 would come again.
l.
Very impressive decor. Food was OK, we had peri peri wings didn't have much flavour and seabass with sides which tasted lovely.
K. “. G. G.
Lovely evening out with my lovely ladies, for Black History Month. This was the right venue with the natural wooden art deco especiallyfor taking photos.
A cocktail for a starter followed by a 3 course meal. Beautiful night out nice food and service.
A. M.
Right in the middle of Camdon Lock, a lovely place to look around before you go into Shaka Zulu. We were worried about the dress code here as it states on their website smart causal no trainers. But when we got there everyone was in whatever they wanted. So don't worry. Quite a dark place but that's part of the atmosphere. Food was nice but the mains don't come with any sides, you just get the chicken or the steak etc. So you have to buy those at £6 each. Service was friendly overall.
I doubt I would go again. I'd go try something else in Camdon Lock.
S. V.
Omg I love it food great table could be a bit cleaner staff not very smiley but the food was great, don’t like how u have to pay service charge it’s on the check, I’d rather give tips cos u got a choice as I didn’t even talk to the people serving us 😳
D. M.
Very very surprised and pleased, all the food was amazing, the staff are so friendly and inviting and the decor somewhat took my breath away
P. J.
Joined a friend for her birthday meal before viewing a west end matinee. Was the the perfect entree. Good food. Excellent customer service, in fact we had one waiter who went above and beyond to facilitate our needs. Will definitely visit again.
The food was tasty and well seasoned, tasty and fresh.
P. S.
Definitely lives up to the hype. This is by far the most stunning looking restaurant I have so far been to! The atmosphere is great, there is plenty of spots to take some nice snaps.
J. S.
What an amazing restaurant. My crocodile meat was amazing. All the food was on the point. The dinner felt like a little trip to africa. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
z. p.
We bought a lunchtime voucher and my partner had the crocodile burger and I had the ostrich burger. They both looked and tasted amazing and the chips were great! Enjoyed the cocktails, they were strong!
T. M.
Really love restaurant. Went during the day but can imagine it's brilliant in the evening. Staff are lovely and food is outstanding. Definitely good for a special occasion
S. D.
The decor and environment is absolutely out of the world fantastic. Food was quite average and nothing special although you can try the exotic meat here. Either way good experience if you want to go for a date or drinks & snacks with friends for a chilled time and food isn't that important.
V. B.
The design of the restaurant is very nice. The burger was good but the cocktail was terrible unfortunately.
A. Z.
When on a Saturday evening with a group of friends for dinner - drinks and dancing. The atmosphere was amazing and all the members of staff were super nice, friendly and attentive. Special thanks to a magician, who approached us unexpectedly after dinner and made the whole experience even cooler (his name was Stephen Barry). Another great bonus was that the DJ was accompanied by a tech violinist. Very happy with everything!
M. P.
Very nice place!! Unique atmosphere and very tasty food. Highly recommend to all
M. N.
Had a lovely day one here when we arrived for a surprise meal. Warmly greeted by staff and given opportunity to change our seats for something more personal and intimate. Food arrived as described and on time. It wasn’t look warm at best, which was a bonus was we got our drinks delivered quite quickly
C. L.
Shaka Zulu is a Beautiful Restaurant the food is good, the entertainment was epic. They had fire belly dances. The dance floor was my highlight, lovely atmosphere. Customer service was Okay apart from. We had to wait 1hour for our table otherwise it was a fabulous night. 4 star thumps up.
N. G.
Loved the atmosphere the vibe was lit. Was disappointed with the food. Was expecting alot more flavour and choice. The Mocktails tasted liked water. The deco is amazing. The staff are friendly and welcoming Loved it. Will definitely go again.
S. A.
Wow great evening with the family. Loved the food. I had the crocodile steak, didn’t expect much but it was fab. Highly recommended. Loved it.
P.
Loved my experience. Location, staff, food, the music and decor were simply amazing. Will definitely be back.
L. H.
Amazing place, the venue decoration is great, the food was tasty, and our waitress was so friendly and helpful, overall this place is well worth a visit
M. M.
Such an outstanding Restaurant/Bar unlike anything you have ever seen, spectacular Decor entirely based on African history of warriors/Queens & kings..magnificent! 👏You will be astounded.

5 * goes to Nadena - She provided such an amazing service for me and my friends. Her energy was superb and she looked after us beautifully. We came to celebrate my friends 31st birthday - wouldn't have been the same without her looking after us the way she did.
The food was tasty and flavoursome - just wish it was bigger portions! The cheese cake dessert which was recommended by Nadena - was SO SOO GOOOD!
N. E.
I've been offered the meal as an experience gift voucher. This place is huge (2 floors) with an original decoration (statues, murals) and nice African beat music. The cocktails were nice but the food average: buffalo steak, pork, samosas and boboti rolls. Fun place for a date and drinks but I won't go back for the food.
T. “. I.
The atmosphere was great. The staff was lovely. Good drink selection but I was underwhelmed by the flavours of the food. I would say I enjoyed my sides more than the main. The food was well presented but some dishes had smaller portions than others. I would go back but with moderate expectations.
The dessert pictured is the vanilla cheesecake with raspberry coulis and mixed berries. I feel there was too much coulis and the fruit was a bit sour but overall, a nice dish.
M. N.
Expensive for what it is and the dj didn't play any African music, even nandos seem for African without the decor.
T. B.
Went for a friend's birthday. The atmosphere is amazing, a nice club after 10pm. The cocktails are nice and the food was really good too. The aesthetic is beautiful.
K. M.
Great home főr steak and game meat. This time opted for lamb and pork shops. Great service
K. L.
SHAKA SHAKA, what can I say. Amazing, fascinating and beautiful place to dine.
The waiters are amazingly attentive.
I will definitely be going again.
K. P.
Had a 3 course set meal it was delicious
Great atmosphere
Food was cooked perfectly
M. V.
Excellent friendly service had a great time and great food. Many thanks.
A. M.
A wonderful immersive experience with amazing food.
My waitress Monika was wonderful and friendly, very attentive and I didn't have to wait long for anything.
I tried the Rum Blazer which is in the top 12 unusual drinks in the world... It's an experience!
T. C.
We had an absolutely amazing time. The ambience is stunning, the food was excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic, almost magical. I loved it so very much!
L. N.
Good food and service.
Very quiet on a Wednesday night
L. O.
I would not advise the Virgin voucher experience as it is not value for money when it comes down to what is on offer on the menu. It has a beautiful Zulu décor but the variety of South African food one would expect with the connection to the name, is very limited and you have to pay extra for what is really seen as South African food. The food portions on the voucher experience is also smaller than the normal menu portions and you can only choose one option per category from the voucher menu. Beautiful place, good service but expensive.
L. S.
Celebrated my birthday thank you to my sibling sister for organising such a wonderful place had opportunity to experience crocodile cuisine.....
The sculptures just wow factor the stsff and atmosphere brilliant......
S. F.
Enjoyed the experience. Restaurant has a great african theme to it.
Large cocktail bar and the food is good.
K. L.
The decor and environment score higher than the food.
1. Having got a three course Wowcher deal as a gift, I was disappointed that it did not include the side with the main course.
2. The main course requires a side.
3. I was given the wrong cocktail
4. My main was cold and required reheating.
5. I did not get back my original main after being reheated.
6. The majority of vacant cubicles in the ladies toilet, were not available and not because they were occupied.
Despite all of the above, I enjoyed my time there and would go back.
K. M.
Nice and friendly personel ,food was nice but this is not a quite place to talk
k. D.
The restaurant is visually beautiful, great attention detail on the décor, however the food needs a major overhaul, unfortunately we found the food to be quite dry (overcooked) and portion sizes were not consistent. Some of the waiting staff seemed unfriendly but It could be that we did come on a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy, and it didn't help that there was a full club going on at the same time we were trying to have dinner. Bad idea to come on a Friday evening as the music was so loud we couldn't even hear eachother.
A. K.
Booked a table here this weekend for my cousins birthday and we had an absolutely awesome time. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Service was 10/10. A member of our group lost her phone on the night. We informed the manager and waitress who was serving our table and to our luck he called me the following day to inform me they had found it under our booth.
This for me is rare so i was extremely pleased. Dj's were amazing too!
Highly recommend!
S. B.
Great atmosphere and helps with social distancing due to the spacious layout across 3 floors. The dimmed lights and music along with the decor is calming. The food, especially the starters were great. I will definitely recommend their fish dishes. They were fresh and tasty. Our waiter was not that great. Had to ask for water several times. Then was served with mineral water for which we were charged £13 despite stating clearly that we wanted "tap water". We assumed that the water served was tap water but just in a bottle because the seals were always broken!! So not happy about that either, whether it was authentic mineral water. A couple of glasses were dirty and had to ask to replace them. Service was quick and portions adequate as would be expected for the price. Overall the experience was good.
L. D. T.
After just coming back from Shaka Zulu... have to say it was SO good!
During these challenging times, the restaurant well spread out, respectful, and you feel right at home when arriving.
Being provided with a gift card to visit, we thought let's try it out, as originally was a valentine gift, the decor firstly when entering is beautifully put together. Friendly staff, quick service, excellent choice of drinks and the food was fresh and delicious.
We would highly recommend it's about a 6 min walk from Camden Town Underground station (northern line) and located right next to the market/canal, the heart of Camden.
A ***** from us.
Look forward to coming back again!

I've heard great things about this place and saw the reviews online...and I was not disappointed! We had the chicken and halloumi mains which were fantastic and we were stuffed! The ambience is great with the feeling of being in a very cool tiki hut. The staff were prompt, friendly and efficient. I would love to go back again!
C. B.
Always a pleasure going here. Great staff, gorgeous ambience, delicious food and drink. Yadelin and Kezia were extremely tentative.
Z. J.
Great tasting food and the Shield deal (via virgin experience) was absolutely worth it! We had a three course meal and a cocktail! The service was also impeccable (also helped that it was a Sunday afternoon and was quiet). We ordered the Peri Peri Chicken, Spring rolls and Lamb Samosas for starters, all were delicious! For mains, we ordered the baby whole chicken, and the grilled pork t-bone. The mains were great in terms of portion but flavour was lacking a bit. For sides, we got mac and cheese, which also lacked flavour but was a good portion (this can be shared!). The cheesecake to end was light and perfect.
R. C.
100% the best meal I've had. So tasty and staff all amazing and friendly. The decor was all very nice and the menu had something everyone can enjoy, same as the drinks. Expensive but worth it to have this experience of a meal. However dress code on the website isn't strict they just say smart casual.
E. A.
No delay in preparing orders, it's a fantastic place to be. Enjoyed every bit of service rendered
C. D.
Customer service was AMAZING, The food was ok, Lamb Samosas were just right, The fruit Salad wasn't all that, but they allowed me to change for Cheesecake which was to die for😫. It was a lovely experience and the decor was nice and welcoming.
L. O.
Great place. Great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
S.
Great food and service.
The decor is amazing.
A hidden gem in Camden Town.
B. O.
Great ambience, lovely food! My children.and I really liked enjoyed ourselves.
k. D. (. E.
Not as great as it used to be food is lovely however if your going to charge the prices you do then the rest has to fit.
On arrival the young lady trying to seat us was constantly rudely interrupted by another young girl talking to someone on her headset. Few other member could do with learning how to smiles many looked like they would rather not be there.
Toilet... 2 out of order one door hanging off 2 taps not working while restaurant needs a overall, lift not working not alot of clear signs on how to get out.
Staff need retraining in basic customer service.Serval different People servicing one table(too many cooks)yet simple request for extra side plates only happened after asking the 4th person and arrived after we had pretty much finished eating.
Also dress code on ur website needs to be time specific it states formal no sportswear yet alot of people were wearing jeans, shorts and trainers, When many others made the effort to dress according to the website dress code.
P. R.
What an amazing night! Such a unique place, we went for dinner at 5:30pm and didn't leave till 1:30am! Would highly recommend as the food is really tasty and the service we had was excellent. Really attentive waiting team who really look after you. Great cocktails made by talented mixologists, clubbing was great fun! An all round brilliant place, that we will be sure to visit again.
S. S. N.
Decor and vibe are 5 star!
Rated it down because waitresses and chefs were clearly unaware of what they were serving. They claimed that their boerwors sausage was made of wild boar and buffalo and contained onions!?!? They are not and they never have been in any part of the world!
C. P.
Interior is amazing, must have cost a bomb, lots of different meats to try, deffo made me think about trying different meats again, I tried the crocodile burger, to my shock it was actually fairly nice, bit like chicken. Groupon was doing 2 burgers and a cocktail for 20 quid I think?
M. P.
Wonderful birthday dinner tonight 🎉🎂 Service and food were excellent. Highly recommend the crocodile 🐊
M.
Food was good I like the atmosphere and the deco.. service was ok need a bit more attentive staff. Biltong was tasty. I had the wild hog and it was lovely.
R. M.
Great food and service. Good quality food. Amazing decor which is worth a visit in itself. Would recommend. Friendly staff.
S. S.
Fantastic restaurant. Great food. Amazing decor.
A place to go for special occasions. A little pricier than your average restaurant but this is well above average so value for money. Can't wait ti go back.
C. K.
Really good. Happy people. Lovely food.
O. H.
Great selection of rare meat burgers, even better with a Groupon voucher.
Stressful were amazing, happy and friendly.
Buggy access is far to the left of the main entrance, and not signed
C. D.
Great dining experience. Decor very traditional giving a real African atmosphere. Good selection of drinks including cocktails. Food delicious-had the meat platter-crockadile, wild boar and buffalo. Beautifully cooked and very tasty. Staff very attentive and helpful. Toilets clean-lovely decor. A bit pricey but worth the experience.
S. L.
Great atmosphere with genuinely immersive design. Food was good, lots of international dishes not as many exotic meats as I thought but could be limited due to restrictions. Service was really good only thing was thay we were sat near the server station and there was no consideration to banging plates or the bin trying to get food off of plates. Next time ill make sure I'm not close to the kitchen again!
A. L.
I think this is a big restaurant with an area of 27000sq ft. It is south African authentic restaurant ,bar & club set in the heart of Camden.London. I admired the wooden craving murals on every inch of walls & ceiling. Tribal craving, warriors statue, ethnic prints occupied most of the corner. I have had an amazing & wonderful dining experience here & real fun navigate through this restaurant.

After just coming back from Shaka Zulu... have to say it was SO good!
During these challenging times, the restaurant well spread out, respectful, and …

More selection at the door. Ugly people.
The rest is perfrct.

Good food, good service and great ambience. And if dining with a deal voucher, its very good value.
Definitely worth a visit.

Nice decor but very average food. Dj played whilst we ate but no dancing due to covid restrictions

Beautiful Restaurant with Amazing statues, structures and scenery. Nice pleasant staff and delicious food! Will definitely come back when I visit London again. Definitely 5 Stars 🌟
Y. C.
Great service and excellent food. Everything we had was fantastic. The waitress very attentive and the music and atmosphere were great.
There was a magician entertaining tables near us (sadly he didn't make a stop at our table) but the diners really enjoyed him (I asked ;)
We spent about 212 pounds for 5 adults and a child. We had some main dishes, some appetizers and desserts.
L. S.
Brilliant food! Beautiful venue!
If you are looking for a place for a date night or an evening with the girls this is perfect! Though check your budget first as it is expensive, but great value for money. The starters were very tasty, steaks were cooked perfectly to our preferences and wine was a gorgeous contribution, though personally would've preferred a Malbec on their wine list. The cheesecake for desert was a beautiful way to finish the meal. This place is perfect for pictures also and holds a beautiful aesthetic. Very happy with my experience, would definitely recommend- just check your bank balance first!
B. C.
Great place. Great food. Great staff. Great bar. Live entertainment. So many opportunities for amazing photographs. Not very vegetarian friendly though.
J. K.
Second time I've been here now...amazing food, staff and decor! Shame we didn't experience any entertainment but I'm.sife that is down to covid! Waaah! Deffo worth a visit!
L. S.
Stunning atmosphere and African decor, I can only imagine the work it took to design and build this place! Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent and full of great flavours. Well worth the trip.

Nice decor but very average food. Dj played whilst we ate but no dancing due to covid restrictions

The ambiance, food, cocktails and waiters everything was a vibe. I've recommended to everyone I could possibly know. The atmosphere has always been great. I'm back this weekend for my birthday!

Lovely place, beautiful decor, tasty food and helpful staff.

We got a deal of groupon for burgers chips and cocktail. Nice range of burgers i picked wildboar burger. Good and quick service need more bottled beers

We were really impressed with the setting as we walked in.
We were happy with our starters - mackerel pate and chicken wings.. was really lovely.
Disappointed with the mains. We were charged an extra £7.50 for a crocodile.steak - it was a very small portion (1 and a half chicken nugget size) and dont think it was worth the extra charge.
Desserts were fine but nothing outstanding.
Didnt think the service was very good. Not once did we get asked if our meal was ok or if we wanted anything else etc. They only came to our table to take our dishes away and give our next courses. The waiter could've been more friendly and at least smiled!
Will not be coming back or recommending it to anyone.
R.
Good food, good service and great ambience. And if dining with a deal voucher, its very good value. …

Shazam Zulu is a themed restaurant with a mixture of African and Indian decor. It looks and feels as if you had just walked into a wildlife movie set. I was expecting to see one of the animals from Jungle book to appear. Five Stars for appearance.
Most of the food was very delicious but the servings were small for the prices they charged. Our guest felt that one of the deserts was not prepared properly and tasted like eggs. She did not finish her desert. The timing of the dishes were a a bit delayed. But I think the service of the servers was a bit rushed and crude. I think some of there staff need to work on their people skills.
Overall this place needs a bit updating as it looks a bit tired. I can only award three stars due to the expensive prices, not good service and food that has room for improvement.
H. F.
I don't normally give reviews but I felt I had to mention our experience. We dined at Shaka Zulu on Saturday night (16/10) and I can honestly say it was the best meal I've had in a long time, the service was outstanding, at one point we had 4 people waiting on us at our table, nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so friendly and the restaurant is amazing. We will be back. Thank you 😊
Z. M. (.
This restaurant is incredible. Amazing desing and really friendly crew here.
D. B.
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful crafted figurines everywhere, very impressive! Only downside very expensive, portion size quite small for the price. No soft music in the atmosphere would have been great. Great place to impress, but very expensive.
T. C.
The venue is fantastic, spacious and very interesting with the exquisite traditional sculptures are awesome. The food was also lovely, with good sized portions. However the reception staff were not very welcoming hosts at all-young immature and unfriendly. We booked a table for 8 and they lacked the personality and engagement to recognise that their role is vital to the beginning and the end of the Shaka Zulu guest experience. We were made to fell as though we were an inconvenience. Overall we didn't let that spoiled our night I would definitely go back but the service could be better.
m. t.
Badubrunch, Great atmosphere, staff made the night real enjoyable, customer services was on point.

Brilliant restaurant. Super special immersive dining. Food, drinks and service faultless. Decor and ambience truly memorable and the magician was a very enjoyable surprise, though messed with my head as I haven't a clue how it's done!
Would 100% recommend and will be back for sure.

My friend and I had a lovely time. Food was great, drinks flowing after the ladies recommendations. The place is a wonder to look around and take photos. Big thank you to Lisa, Stephanie and JoJo. See you again soon ladies x
M. B.
It is actually the second time we came here.
The decor still looks great even through everything seems to be a bit worn down since the last time we were here, 2 years ago.
The food is sufficient, not out of this world but OK.
The cheap Christmas decorations ruined it a bit but overall we had an enjoyable evening.
M. H.
Went with a Groupon deal, it did not disappoint! The food was amazing, I had an ostrich burger and the Mrs had buffalo, both where cooked perfectly. Had a cocktail too. The decor in this place is unreal, strongly recommended 👍
M. B.
Enjoyed my night! The hostess who greeted us was a bit rude as my group wasn't all there, that continue until we were seated. Overall I would go again maybe skipping the meal and just come for the drinks. The dinner was nice but overall the seabass and mac n cheese was the best. Over priced but the whole experience was worth it. Definitely will be back guarantee.
D. J.
Went here on a Groupon deal with the family. Food was nice as was the service. A nice experience. BUT you are paying for the experience and nothing more. Food was nice but looking at the prices on the normal menu and the drinks menu if I had paid the prices shown for the food I got I would have been extremely disappointed. Good on a deal but the prices are ridiculous and you could go to a 5 star/Michelin Star restaurant for less.
m. w.
Lovely looking place to eat out. We ordered a crocodile and buffalo and it was delicious. Good portion sizes. The staff really nice and helpful. I recommend.
R. Z.
The ambience, decor and general feel of the place is great as is the food albeit tiny portions.
N. B.
The decor was breathtaking, absolutely gorgeous and true to the African culture. The service was impeccable, food was superb and the timing for each course was simple perfect. Their blends of drinks was amazing and simply a great venue to share treasured moments and have a fabulous time.
M. E.
Don't look at the Negative Reviews of the past. My lovely wife and I dinned on Friday night 7th Jan 2022 & The venue, The Staff & Food was fabulous Mel & Debby from Cambridge
J. G.
We had our company christmas party here at the weekend and had a nice evening. The decor throughout is incredible and was a great experience. We had a sit down meal which was really enjoyable but my only grevience was that we only had a table for 2 hours. Because of that it did feel a bit get us in and out before our slot came to an end. I would expect personally a christmas party reservation to give you a table to use exclusively for the full evening. The food was really nice (I had buffalo) and the staff were very tentative throughout.
C. P.
Used the virgin experience voucher.
Lovely cocktails and food.
Service was abit slow so would recommend also ordering the dried meat platter to eat between meals!
Amazing atmosphere and generally friendly staff!
m. m.
A definite recommendation food and decor lovely.
R. B.
Love it here i keep coming back. The atmosphere and the food is the main reason. The decor is just stunning works of genuis. Though pricey but if you get a voucher it's worthet to get to experience it
M. P.
From the moment we stepped into the place we felt good.
All the staff were really friendly our waitress I think her name was Monica couldn't have been nicer.
All the food was of high quality from the crocodile cigars to the main course which was the best chateuxbriand we have both ever tasted.
The meal was finished off with a complimentary drink unlike anything I've tasted before.
After diner there was a show of some sort but we were too tired to stay, maybe next time, as there will certainly be a next time
A. J. (.
An incredibly decorated place where they have taken a theme and really really go for it.
The food was good, well cooked and presented- but doesn't match the African theme of the resturaunt and only Cambodian and Malaysian beer was available when I visited.
Service at the table was fine, but not brilliant, but the staff at the door and leading you to your table are not particularly friendly or helpful.
Overall, certainly worth a visit to experience the venue, but don't expect too much.
J. B.
Food was very nice , however would have like to see more traditional African vegetables on the menu. Music was very loud and was hard to have a conversation whilst eating., as felt like I was shouting maybe this was just because it was the weekend though. Felt this was directed at younger people. However I would go again on a week night for a quieter experience Quite pricey for what you get ,£5.50 for a small bowl of veg.
S. D.
We were here on a virgin experience , the food was great & the staff very friendly . Atmosphere great although you need to watch out for the extras on the food which are not covered by the voucher .
M. M.
Amazing experience, amazing decor, delicious food and great service.
V. R.
Absolutely delicious food !! The service was incredible. We ordered the sharing exotic platter, each dish had incredible flavours. Our side dish of peri fries and mash potatoes was served a little late and the manager gave these on the house which shows their quality of service !! Atmosphere was incredible and would highly recommend!!!
P. S.
If you're thinking of going to Shaka Zulu, please come, don't think twice!! The moment me and friends stepped into the restaurant we were amazed! The ambiance is beautiful across the whole restaurant, very lively while still promising an intimate night. I wish I caught the name of our host that night, she was amazing, very attentive and was right on board when I asked for a birthday cake for my sister! Food was exceptional, 11/10! Very flavourful, great portions etc and in my opinion great value for money! I ordered the spicy pork chop with sweet potato fries and trust me, that's the first time I've finished a meal in a restaurant in a long time! Can't wait to go back :D
p. s.
Good restaurant, the whole experience was really good. It's huge and the entire place is decorated with african style estatue and animals. The food is very tasty and well seasoned. The only downside is the price, we spent just over £100 for a diner for 2. Although you can find discounts online to go during weekdays which definitely would be worth it. Would recommend for a special night.
D. D.
I first time eat crocodile 🐊 😋
Nice looking place and good taste food.
J. F.
Went on a wowcher deal so we had the shield menu. It was okay but nothing to write home about. I thought paying a service charge was a bit rediculous but there you go. It was an OK evening.
L. M.
The best thing here is the interior design! :) They have invested a fortune. Service is so far the worst I have experienced in London. And I have been there over 10 times now. Food is OK, though nothing special or really South African. I will go again, just because the unique ambient. Usually taking friends there, for a welcome-to-London drinks.
M. S.
Great experience at Shaka Zulu. The prices are slightly above the average for cocktail s and food but the quality is really high. The zebra steak was marvelous and the Oro Dragon and Rum blazers are now personal favourites. The atmosphere is very good and some entertainment is provide, like magician s and the tables. The dress code that is enforced with the reservation is a little bit of non sense as I saw guests and waiters wearing trainers... But I totally understand why they are trying to keep the general atmosphere on the level. Highly recommended but be ready to try new things and to pay for them.
R. S.
A very unique place with such characters. The place serves a list of very unusual dishes, such as zebra steak, scottish cow steak, even crocodile meats. Definitely not a good place for vegetarians or a very fanatic animal lovers. 😅
I had a 3-course menu. Peri-peri Chicken Wings, High-land cow steak medium rare, and a cheese cake for my dessert.
The starter: 5 stars - the peri-peri chicken wings was super tasty. The seasoning was really absorbed into the chicken. It comes with a very yummy dipping sauce as well.
The main: 1 star 😔. The 'rare' meat steak, which I chose to have a High-land cow instead of a zebra to be cooked medium rare was not cooked as the good medium rare. It was very hard and chewy that I had to swallow the big cut of it because I just can't munch it properly. There was no grave as well or any selections of sauce for the steak. A big no no for the steak. But my friend who had Crocodile meal said it was good. Same as the ones who ordered fish dish.
The dessert: 2 stars. It was super standard. Nothing special at all.
The drinks: 2 stars. The cocktails were very standard too. It was even a bit too plain.
The ambience: 5 stars. The decoration is very cool. The place really have such indentity.
The service: 5 stars. The staffs were super friendly and very helpful.
I give 3 stars because the my main course was very disappointing and the dessert was super standard. I think the only thing I fully enjoyed when I was there was the interior design of the place and my appetizers.
J. D.
Very unique decor, nice food, would visit again. We had a voucher for 3 courses and a cocktail. With supplements for some food and wine we paid an additional £60 over the voucher. We had a good time
D. H.
Great style and decor. Tasty food but a very rushed service, despite asking for a gap between courses. Wanted you In & Out. Shame the way out is less glamorous than the way in. Kinda ends the stylish visit abruptly.
C. P.
Came for a 7pm birthday dinner lastnight and according to recent reviews, Seems like my experience here was so different from a lot of people's. Staff were so incredibly polite, incredibly attentive; our glasses were constantly refilled before they ran dry. Within 2mins of finishing our courses, plates were cleared with a smile. The service was so good I even had to mention it to my bf. Music was a little rubbish but the atmosphere and decor was beautiful. Food was delicious 5 🌟, only downfall was the cherry and apple flavoured sorbert dessert, tasted like a lump of gross, tangy sugar!
S. A.
Amazing place loving it. Food excellent and service fantasic. Great cocktails and drinks Menu. Then finish the evening off with a disco weekends only.. a must try great music, definalty be coming back.
M. A.
Went for my sister's 50th birthday
Nice place, different but too pricey for me. Have escalators and African art. Food was nice but not for what you got. Dj up till 2 am.Nice atmosphere. A must try place.
r. T.
The restuarant really has the wow factor with it impressive decor, but didnt have the best of experinece with the food, my friend ordered the halloumi skewers-they arrived and there was no halloumi on the skewers!! so they were sent back, I ordered a steak and naked fries as dont like the spicy ones they do- the steak was stone cold so i had to send it back, when they brought it back they returned mine with the wrong fries and no cutlery, so i had to try and get someones attention to ask for the correct fries and some cutlery, by the time i got my complete meal and the cutlery to eat it with my friend had already finished her skewers! no apology, or offer to take money off the bill. hopefully it was just a one off but I won't be going back
h. t.
Lovely places to eat, food was great, staff friendly and efficient. Great cocktails
v. T.
Went for a drink with some friends, absolutely amazed by how cool this bar/restaurant is. The design is so unique, really love it. I know they serve food as well, will definitely come back soon to try their food.
M. D.
Food good, bar man did an impressive cocktail at our table.
Staff polite and friendly, a little dark in the area we were sat. Will visit again but may try an evening.
R. D.
Amazing building. Food wasn't amazing but still very good. Staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
J. F.
Food was amazing but took an hour to get it after ordering. Service was poor took half an hour to get a drink and waited 45 minutes to get my change and ended up walking off without it as I was fed up with the waiter walking past me taking payment off other customers. Will not be visiting again.
G. R.
Nice club, music is good, a little expensive for the service.
T. N. B.
Lovely interior, cocktails and food. The chocolate tart is amazing!
W. I.
A truly wonderful experience indeed! Most definetly not like other restaurants by any stretch of the imagination. Go and see for yourself! WARNING to chicken wing lovers.. their wings are delicious! Be warned!
M. M.
Food was very good, limited choice however. Despite a huge location that was relatively empty when we booked (6pm) we were seated adjacent to other diners.
A. T.
What an amazing place. Didn't know what to expect when we went down those stairs but we were amazed at all the carvings and statues. The bar staff were lovely wish we'd had time to sample the food but the whole experience just being in there was totally awesome.
a. j.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, we had a groupon for a burger chips and drinks and staff explained the menus to us in detail, they were very attentive and the food was good. The social distancing aspect was also good as clear signs everywhere and tables far apart as well
As sanitisers everywhere. We will be back. Thank you
S. M.
Service was excellent despite things starting off badly by being taken downstairs and then moved upstairs. Immediately complimentary glasses of Prosecco were brought out for the small inconvenience. After that the whole experience was very pleasant and I found the food very interesting. Ostrich was probably my favourite 😊
N. W.
Zebra and Buffalo steak for dinner? What can I say!
This place is amazing, the building, its setting, the music and the fact that it is located in Camden makes Shaka Zulu unique.
I loved just being there, it reminded me of my African roots.
If you are into something different, I recommended you give it a try. I will be a worthy expirience.
Ps: try the Buffalo, you won't regret it!
T. D.
It was a great atmosphere and really fantastic interior. Food is good. Staff are attentive, sometimes too much, getting the feeling they want you out in an hour. But overall fantastic experience and nice fresh food.
H. A.
I took my here on the 5th December for her birthday and we was served by younge girl and she was amazing so bubbly well mannered everything.she really made my mums day so I want to thank her for making it special xxx
D. S.
Great place. Only disappointment was that the menu has not really changed in 8 years and some of the decor and furniture needs a bit love and attention. I guess when it turns into a club at night it is less visabke
K. K.
We went there on a Friday night for my birthday, the staff were amazing and had a great time.
A. K.
The food and drinks were great. Really good service. The decorations are really cool. A bit expensive, but worth visiting once.
S. D.
I absolutely love this place. It is super safe, packed with security and very very snazzy.
I recently attended a close friend work Christmas party and can not recommend this club highly enough. It is located only few minutes walk away from Camden Town Station. Customer service is excellent. I was taken to my friend table by a lovely Host.
The girl who worked at the 1st floor bar was very sweet, friendly and helpful. She accommodated my wish for "sugarless" Nojito, by offering "Agave Syrup" in stead.
It might well be our New Years Venue this year.
Thank you so much Shaka Zulu.
See you soon.
A. P.
The decor gets a strong 5-star from me. The dessert was absolutely divine and the cocktails were sublime. However the food was (at best) mediocre. Vegetarian main was oversalted and under flavoured, with too hot temperatures.
D. L. L.
I visited using a Groupon lunchtime deal and it was well worth it. Amazing location - there is so much to see and do in Camden before and after you're dining experience. The decor in Shaka Zulu is stunning - loved the statues and the bathroom - I felt like I had been transported to Wakanda! The food was very tasty, my daughter and I had the crocodile burger with fries and we had a choice of cocktail which was lush!
All the staff were attentive and friendly.
I will definitely be returning in a future - it would be great for a special celebration like a birthday or anniversary.
L. H.
Brought this for me and Fiancee on Groupon as a treat. Was told on the phone no sportswear so we dressed up, only to find people had trainers on when we arrived.
The overall decor was really nice. Female Toilets were exceptional; but male toilets had a bad odour.
The complimentary cocktail was gin based (but lacked the gin) and was full of ice-which didnt melt.
Starters - were nice. We had chicken wings and mackerel pate'.
Main was a let down as had chicken and my partner had steak (which had a £7.50 surcharge) and didn't come with anything else. Luckily we ordered some sides (at £5 each). Really think the main should have a lists of sides included in the price.
Dessert - was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful! We choose the cheesecake and chocolate tart, which we shared. The chocolate tart was really rich and the creme complimented it.
At the end of the meal we paid £7 surcharge as well as sides and a service charge.
n. m. n.
Tasty SA food and drink. Decor is incredible.
A. A.
Overall average value for money - went here with a £40 3 course meal voucher, the main was very disappointing for the price, the starter was ok but nothing special again, the dessert was pretty good though! The portion sizes were good as well, and the cocktails available there were nice which was a plus. However, due to the steep prices, the overall experience is less enjoyable, without a voucher you're probably going to be spending £70-90 in here for a two people meal.. the atmosphere in the restaurant is really good and the staff are very polite at least, so this improves the experience. their food needs to be improved to make it worthwhile visiting, at the moment i think its just a tourist spot, probably better taking your money elsewhere!
P. T.
Amazing place, have been going there for the last 10 Years and the food has always been very good, as also the non alcoholic cocktails.
V. V.
Had a wonderful time at Shaka Zulu for our office Christmas party. Yes, the service could have been a bit better, but the food and ambience were excellent. Really liked that there was a bar and dancing area as well which made most of my colleagues stay much later! 🙂
S. T.
Awesome decor, food was lush, little pricey but worth it, only thing was we were sent upstairs as they needed to do the turn over for dinners but there was no seating available so we left but had we been able to stay at table we would have stayed longer
L. S.
Amazing Food, beautiful dinning experience. Definitely reminded me of South Africa. Absolutely enjoyed every moment.
S. T.
Steaks were good but not as good as the first time. The Mac and cheese was unbelievable tho. Atmosphere is good. Place is a bit pricey tho. But overall good date night or trendy work due.
K. J.
Amazing place, great food.
H.
Great dinning. Tasty food, amazing decor. Definitely recommend to visit.
A. F.
We popped in for a drink when shopping. Been before and loved it but this time the Drinks were overpriced and served in plastic and bar staff rude. Amazing place though.
A. G.
Excellent decor! Felt like we were in South Africa! Will definitely go back soon! 😊👌
H. T.
A unique dining experience near Camdrn Market
L.
We didn’t eat so I couldn’t rate the food. But we paid for a table and had drinks for a friend’s hen. It was really nice vibes and good music however one of our friends’ purse were taken and cash was stolen from it. It put a downer on the night but overall it’s pretty place.
A. E.
Lovely place to go with lovely decor. Hugh African statues and lovely tables and wooden chairs. Service excellent and food was brought to the table very quickly. Food was average nothing amazing.
T. S.
Very nice club, every Londoner must visit this place once. Their music collection is excellent and drinks also reasonable.. really enjoyed
J. B.
0 stars for the food 5 stars for the decor of the place and music. I ordered the lamb and chips. The lamb was tasteless and as you can see from the pictures I was served 4 bits of dried chips for £5 😡 RUDE!
N. G.
Perfect place, especially if disabled. Staff friendly, service good and food excellent
w. v. d. b.
Such an amazing venue. The place inside is stunning. The menu has change and was very disappointed with the food. The club after the meal was oky. Such a small place to dance would be nice of the hole place turn into a club or atleast one floor and not the restaurant part.
L. M.
Was really looking forward to a burger, it was really disappointing, like a processed burger you'd by in a supermarket, nothing like handmade. It didn't taste good. Pudding was mediocre and my family had soup with was microwaved, boiling in the middle, cool on outside. Luckily we had vouchers as I would not have been happy to pay the very expensive prices. Not worth it.
R. D.
Very great location and setting and the food was great. However, it was rather pricey and meant we couldn't really take a risk on the more exotic food choices.
S.
The first time you go it’s cool because it’s new. Every time after that it’s just exactly what you’d expect from a bar in Camden. Not bad not good.
v. m.
One of the best places to spend your evening in London city. Exotic restaurant with great music. The bars offers a huge selection of drinks and the food here is delicious. The price for the drinks are a bit on the high side for a place like this. NO PHONE SERVICE/ INTERNET once you go into this place (underground)! You better ensure you wait out till all your parties arrive before you go in. Security is not great here for a London night place. Toilets are not particularly great but can be better cleaned. No refund for any prebooked table, it’s either you eat or lose your money! Service is good, but not great. There are much delays especially at busy times. Just go for the music and the fun.
I. V.
Great food, but the service is even better. Our waitress was very attentive, Her name is Yadelin, I can't recomend her enough. I am not used to say the name of the waitress, but this Superb service derserve reckonigtion.
J. C.
Good food and nice atmosphere. We really enjoyed ourselves. The one minor suggestion I have is to put ice in the tap water. Thank you
D. R.
Efficient service, really good food. Some of the staff came across as unfriendly, and you felt slightly rushed. Would return though
T. T.
Not worth it
Good for once or as night bar
S.
Great atmosphere and fabulous decor. Staff were very friendly and the menu was interestingly good. Price on the £££ side but worth a try and something different
S. B.
Food was tasty had the crocodile 🐊. Good service excellent vybz. Music was right up my street (Amapiano). Defo a nice night out 🥳🎉🎶💯
M. S.
Little expensive, as everything adds on. Went for lunch and was a bit to dark. But food is good and waitress/waiters are very nice and give good attention
J. L.
Had such a great evening at Shaka Zulu. Great service, very varied menu, really delicious food & fun vibe. Highly recommended!
H. S.
Amazing place! I didn't expect that but it's beautiful! 😍 I really enjoyed it! The food was good and staff nice
M. W.
It was the best experience of my life. The food was great except the too much salt on the Fri
T. F.
The food and atmosphere were amazing. We went for my wife's birthday and they even wrote a happy birthday message on her dessert. Really good food and the service is excellent. Will definitely be returning!
A. P.
Loved the atmosphere, food was delicious and our waitress Monica, was lovely. Felt like a proper night out after being cooped up for so long. There were def people in t shirts and trainers but perhaps that's because our table was early at 7:45.
A. F.
Incredible atmosphere, amazing drinks and awesome food. Definitely a great experience, would recommend to everyone 😁
s. r.
We had been given a wowcher as a present to use here.
We were not asked our details for track and trace or asked to scan a QR code for the venue when we arrived, We were shown a table which was a booth type but sharing with 5 people on the other side, the waitress could see our disgust and then were shown to another table which was much better.
The food itself was quite nice if not fantastic, plus you had to pay for extra side dishes etc, so probably cost more than the voucher.
Overall it was Ok but don't think i would rush to come back
A. “. p.
OMG!!! Stop right there!!! This is it!!! Best place in London, exellent food , decor is breath taking, friendly staff, I highly recommend this restaurant/night club (during pandemic I don't think they are opening the night-club) also I will suggest to check on Groupon or lastminute.com or fever up app before booking a table. Could be very pricey without a voucher
I. P.
The food is very average. The aesthetics, drinks and atmosphere is nice.
S. M.
Bustling as ever walked in for drinks only didn't stay for the party /club both patrons and staff very friendly gorgeous venue background music great
C. D.
One of the best places I've ever eaten at in Camden, service was amazing and the food was perfect - even the steak was just as requested!
J. “. G.
Present for my South African fella and I from my siblings, Really nice place cosmetically, food was over priced for the quality though. Lot of issues over the voucher we had. Eventually we got it sorted and got a free cocktail as well for the mess up. Great place for pictures and in the heart of Camden
o. e.
Great for a fun date night but not the best for something romantic. Has a nice African vibe and details. Tasty meals.
N. B.
Such a beautiful place. Amazing food and incredibly designed. I would definitely go here again. The food and atmosphere was wonderful. We had a lovely night.
R. T.
Went on a voucher and had the Shield menu. The food was distinctly average and bland. While the starters were tasty enough both of our mains were bland. The best dish being the spinach side.
While the atmosphere is nice I wouldn’t go back to sample whether the real menu is any better.
H. J.
The food was really good, it's a bit pricey. Lovely big restaurant that is well worth a visit.
J. C.
Really enjoyed my night out with friends and family. And the meal was really good 👍
W. K.
The Manager Of Our Virgin Experience Was Very Rude And Had A Horrible Attitude With Everyone ...Was Good In Fhs End With The Club Scene But Overall I Would Consider Management Team To Fix Up
R. W. (. o. I.
This gem sits in Camden Market London. They claim to have the biggest array of American whiskey in Europe. Many of the whiskeys are American Brands Lol. I don't do whiskey. I didn't eat but, I had drinks and they were quite tasty. I had a chance to speak to the to bartenders. Great guys Dorice and Saandro Lots of knowledge on this establishment. The African theme is quite phenomenal to look at, They put some money in this place. I know the weekend Must bang with Pretty woman. I came on a Tuesday evening. Bery laid back that day
S. J.
The decor in this place is lovely. The food was OK but didn't have much taste. Service wasn't great either
D. K.
Amazing decor, quality food, great staff!! Say no more what a place!! Loved it
N. O.
Loved it... Service was amazing and fast. Good was fantastic
L. S.
Perfect place for something completely different, the Restaurant is astonishing I loved the decorations and ambience, friendly staff, and to top it up they got downstairs for parties
D. C.
This restaurant has beautiful features and lovely food
A.
Place is great to come as is very different from any other restaurant that I have been to, food was nice so was drinks. Reason for only 3 stars was due to service the waiters rude and rush you to eat and drink and try get you out.
A. H.
I really enjoyed this place. It's very atractive and great restaurant to see. When it's about food, I wasn't highly satisfied with quality. My opinion is that this restaurant has all possibilites not only to keep the level of attractiveness, but to rise the tastiness and quality of the food. ☺
S.
The place is decent! Have some cool fireworks. The boxers didn't let us in initially they thought we were too drunk. Music was a bit of a let down but the fire show made up for it.
R. C.
The food was delicious and the decoration is unique. The service was slightly slow between courses, but a really enjoyable evening.
F. H.
An amazing place! Brilliant atmosphere and the food was lovely!! Definitely recommend a visit!
P. D.
Very interesting subterranean African themed restaurant.
S. B.
The entrance is tucked away inside Camden Market and you go down a escalator and enter a vast world of purple, red, blue, and green light, figures of Zulu warriors and wild animals. Its a unique and large bar/restaurant that some people may like, and some may hate.
We had the lunchtime set menu and it was all quite average and not especially South African. Probably works better as a bar/club than as a place to eat.
S. S.
Amazing experience
This is a very different place with mind-blowing decor.
One-of-a-kind!
I took one star off as Service was incredibly slow even though there was enough waiting staff
K. L. S.
Love the cocktails and atmosphere here. Do feel sorry for the barman as some of the clientele are very awkward, wanting cocktails not on the menu and not appreciating the logistics. Hen dos mainly,
T. Y.
Great fun. Amazing decor a little pricey. Very friendly service.
M. R.
Great food and atmosphere. If you come here make sure you finish with the cheesecake.
D.
What an incredible place. The food is amazing and the drinks are gorgeous. Visit this place if you are in Camden!
J. W.
Went here for a birthday surprise and it was without doubt one of the best tasting and looking restaurants I’ve ever been in. The staff were tremendous and the food was outstanding would 100% go back!
B. C.
Didn't go here yesterday but have been here in the past and it's a great night out, unique environment and highly reccommend
S. M.
Loved it, great service, tentative staff, food was tasty with a different choice to the norm.
G. O.
Great bar, club and music, but music is too loud for talking later on. Fairly expensive drink. Can't comment on food, I didn't eat.
R. A.
Definitely an interesting late bar to come to.. better than most in Camden town.. £20 entry fee for the bar..
Shaka zulu is a massive place with escalators leading to the bar downstairs. The food is an acquired taste but interesting to try for sure. The bar area got strange on Saturday at 12am...
The bar was closed downstairs where all the people were all being contained by security.
So we have to go to upstairs bar. Makes no sense there were 10 waiters downstairs just cleaning and closing time is in 2 hours?
So up the escalators.. and then it's a 20 minute wait to get a drink. Keep calm.
But everyone gets upset by this, especially when you have five waves and layers of people waiting for drinks.. with no clear lines to the bar.. good manners in queueing will probably add 20 minutes to your wait.. and then you have to hold your drinks and cut back through five layers of people ..and no one really moves :) to make your way back down... Ahhh ... and then stand in the wrong place for more than a minute and security comes and tells you not to stand there. Its very militant. I must say...
The bar is round .. and then half the bar is closed. Stand in the wrong place. You can't stand there move on. Ahhhh ...
All this is not a deal breaker.. it's just the way it is. It can be better and more efficient ... It's a great space.. it just needs fresh eyes on staff and management and marketing..
Apart from that.. it's an interesting venue to visit. I would recommend it especially for a late night drink.
K. G.
A fantastic, authentic experience with exceptional decor (every inch of the place filled with exquisite wood carvings) and delicious food and amazing service to match!
C. I.
I loved !!!
Been with Groupon, good service, amazing food and amazing place and atmosphere!!!!
And in middle of Camden Town ! Love it !

I had an amazing night. Atmosphere was fabulous, food and drinks were excellent. The whole place is pretty magnificent. There wasn’t a single fault. The staff were fantastic and attentive. One hostess in particular was the phenomenal Maria. Her personality was outstanding, she was totally brilliant. She absolutely waited on our every need and made our experience memorable and truly outstanding. I would revisit again and again just because of how great Maria was, she is a huge asset to this restaurant/bar. A well deserved 10/10 and I’m not easily pleased. Thank you ❤️

Very shocked at some of these reviews. My partner and I used an experience voucher and had the opposite experience. Service was friendly, the venue looked awesome and the food was absolutely amazing. We were late on arrival, they were very courteous and understanding. I had the cape tower cocktail, the fish paté, upgraded to the bison and ice-cream for dessert. I still can't get over how perfectly cooked that bison was. Could have had 10 of those cocktails, delicious. There was some entertainment and the waiter was kind enough to take a photo of us. The voucher is an 'experience', not the full shebang. If you read the terms- it clearly states that a 12.5% gratuity will be added to your bill but it is optional.

A hidden gem of a restaurant, looks not a lot outside but once inside the decor is truly stunning, good menu leaning towards Africa obviously with game available alongside a bottle of champagne for 1.5k if you want, good service and a good deal on the cocktails if you turn up for happy hour 17/19hrs

Pretty good. Service is good, food is very well done and the environment is totally dope. Not too expensive for what it's offering too.
C. O.
Quite pricey for the quality of food but has a nice ambience and nice playlist.

Beautiful decor, great place and food was lovely. Loved it and will go back.

Service could have been better considering we booked a table. We had to keep looking for staff to order more drinks. However the music was on point.. 🎶🎵

Immersive African experience! Unique, perfect for a special occasion.

We enjoyed our food and drinks. I love the concept of the whole restaurant. Unfortunately some of the equipment are little bit to old.

Amazing place. Could not believe my eyes. And the food..amazing!

Deceptively small from the outside...hiding a huge interior filled with amazing African arts, great atmosphere, picturesque settings... Somehow pricey, but at least you get great value for your bucks!

Bit pricey for what you get. Lovely interior decent cocktails.

The food and service was really nice. Would definitely recommend.

Restaurant itself is beautiful but was quite disappointed with food.. not what I expected
S. H.
Amazing place, good food, bit on the pricey side but that must go to maintain such a huge place. Great carvings and atmosphere
S. B.
Very heavily themed restaurant which is all ways a good thing. With good vibes, a bit pricey for what u get but it's good quality food nonetheless.

Enjoyed birthday celebrations with my bestie, both from SA. Yade was great and manger helped with crucial food decisions. Lamb samousas amazing and bobotie main. Only thing was they didn’t have Chocolate Block wine. But overall fantastic day

Nice place, with amazing servings of the lady, her name is Yadelin😇 She is amaizing, very helpful and great🥰
D. F.
Service not the best , very slow , the food is over priced ,dry cured meat was overpriced, naan bread was actually half a naan , exotic meat sharer is very pricey ! My opinion is the only thing african is the decor ! Also only 1 or 2 beer choices ?
J. W.
Loved it! Great service, good and ambience. I'll go again
S. C.
Good food and nice vibes.
Nice music!
Beautiful artwork and sculptures!

The environment very artistic, the food was very very tasty, the waiter was a bit confused when he got the order, brought extra food. I would definitely return again.
B. J.
The decor and vibe is great and the food is nice enough. Would recommend the cheesecake!
J. L.
Great lunch experience, good Waitress and good quality food. I am sure the evening entertainment would be festivious as well. Great idea for a gift experience, Jason.
S. F.
Loved it nice ambiance. GOOD food. And the staff are very helpful and nice.
S. W.
Cocktails were a bit hit and miss as was the food. The venue is lovely, the staff are helpful.. Would go here again if someone else wanted to but wouldn't recommend it other than to see it. They have live performance/music nights which might be more fun. Fairly pricey too so wouldn't be a place I would choose and not enjoy the food/drinks.
A. P.
Went for three course dinner with a friend, but the portions are so small that we both left hungry :-). But we liked the place
M. P.
Superb food and amazing interior... Friendly staff.
High standard .

Nice venue. There's everything you need. Cloack-room at the entrance. 2 bars at groundfloor. Bar-restaurant and dance floor on the lower ground floor. All in all, it's worth to go.
R. D.
First time at this lovely restaurant, decor amazing, food delicious and staff very attentive, will definitely visit again and recommend it very highly

A little pricey for what it is... Be sure to go at the weekend for live entertainment.
Visited with friends mid week and had a set menu (shield) with a voucher that included a champagne cocktail each. We also had some beers and and another round of cocktails, which were decent. The food is good and well-presented, with choices of unusual meat (I tried zebra), and dessert was excellent. Service was attentive.
The whole place is decorated in an African theme, and perhaps not especially authentic but looks fantastic. It's also huge - it was nearly empty the night we visited. I gather on weekends, there is live entertainment that is quite an experience - so I'll have to good back to see this.
Overall, we enjoyed our evening but had to pay £120 on top of the voucher, so I expect without the voucher, it would be a bit overpriced for the food and drink. Depends how much one is willing to spend on the entertainment.
D. B.
Lovely atmosphere. Food was excellent and cheesecake was to die for.
R. G.
Great music and atmosphere, but the drinks were very expensive.

We had a lovely dinner there, celebrating my Birthday. The décor is outstanding and the food is lovely. Our waitress Ruby looked after us so very well. I definitely recommend
