Reviews of Smith & Wollensky
K. S.
The atmosphere was great and the staff members are friendly and helpful, it’s what you expected in a fine dining restaurant. The ribeye was a good steak however it was a bit over cooked (it should be medium rare but turned out to be medium or even medium well). A bit disappointed as I had excellent experience and great meal when visited their NYC shop back few years ago. Not quite sure if I would come back again, there are better steakhouses in London.. :)
H. K.
Absolutely amazing, we visited on Friday night and the staff were just fantastic, so knowledgeable on the wine, steak and offered some great recommendations. We were served downstairs by Zuzanna and a lovely gentleman who's name we didn't catch, they made the whole experience even more special and couldn't do enough for us. The food was just something else, absolutely to delicious. The whole night was 5*. Thank you!
K. S.
The 28-day dry-aged signature bone-in ribeye steak was meaty and tender. The Wollensky’s famous split pea soup with bacon was nice and flavourful. All 3 side dishes (truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, creamed spinach and hashed brown potatoes) were delicious and cooked to perfection.
R. T.
Food - steak is one of the best in London and the truffled Mac and cheese is to die for!!
Value for money - so expensive!! I had the prethreatre menu which was a bit better but after the mains I didn’t feel like having desert and they refused to let me swap out the desert for a coffee. Then the desert was sorbet which was really powdery - it had gone off!
A. J.
Wonderful restaurant with a great wine list and very good service! Just make sure which meat quality/ type you’re going for as there’s quite a bit of difference between a truly great and an average stake.

We wanted to celebrate graduating from university and decided to treat ourselves here. The food was excellent and so was the service. It was very busy even on a Wednesday night and now I know why. The ambience is very nice albeit a bit loud. Would definitely visit again.

Simply amazing!
This was our first visit to Smith & Wollensky and it was fabulous!
We visited late afternoon on a Saturday as a pre-theatre dinner. Even though it was still early the ambience was great and the restaurant was 75% full. The waiting staff were all very polite and knowledgeable, particularly Alberto who made our visit exceptional.
Most importantly the food was fantastic! My wife had tuna tartare which was delicious and we both had steak for main (USDA fillet). I've had a lot of steaks in my time but this was up there as one of the best I've ever had - tender, succulent and perfectly cooked. After so much food (3 types of potatoes with our mains!) we shared the NY cheesecake for dessert - highly recommended!
All in all a fantastic visit and we will definitely be going back - highly recommend!

First class service from well informed staff, the food was absolutely amazing!
With gorgeous cocktails.
The whole experience made my son's birthday celebrations extremely memorable
S. A.
Amazing staff. The prawn cocktail was stunning and the prawns were huge and tasty. The steak was the best steak I've ever had in my life. Absolutely loved it here.
N. Y.
The best steak in London. Third time coming here and the professionalism is still impressive with an excellent customer service.
Highly recommend the rib-eye and the fillet
G. A.
Delicious steak, so juicy and tender and a lovely burger cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Went for a big birthday boozy brunch. Setting was wonderful, service was excellent (although a little slower due to the big group)
The tomahawk Steak was really one of the best I’ve had in London, but have to give the rosemary roasted potatoes and truffled Mac and Cheese a special mention, really excellent.
T. N.
Thanks for bringing the food for me outside while I was waiting for my clients. I am sure we will be doing more groups after few years. Will recommend.
M. J. C.
Amazing restaurant with outstanding waiter service, food cooked fresh to order and fast!
Delicious tasting steaks and the price is very reasonable considering its London!
Good selection of wines too!
Myself and my Boyfriend Will be back...
S. A. T.
The food was really good I must say but unfortunately it took over an hour surprisingly as there were only four tables.. we came at 3:15 maybe they were resting from the earlier shift.. even to get the bill took another 15 minutes from our waitress who was too busy doing nothing..
R. M.
Fantastic dining experience with mouthwatering Steaks enjoyed by both of us! We also managed to enjoy the 2 course pre theatre dinner which was good value and the Cheesecake desserts were also very tasty. Can't wait to go back
A. A.
New York-style steakhouse. Went for dinner. We both had the prawn cocktail starter. It was "deconstructed" but was very good, even if not quite what we expected. Prawns were top quality.
For our main courses I had the "classic" T bone and my wife had the Aberdeen sirloin. Both were perfectly cooked - really fantastic steaks.
The wine list is pretty extensive and pricey. They have a separate list of bottles under £65 but the majority are over £100.
The service and the furnishings are great and genuinely reminiscent of a classic New York location. Price-wise it is premium quality at premium prices. If you have a starter, a main course and side dishes you will spend at least £60 a head and you can add another £50 if you go for the most expensive main course.
Good steak in London isn't cheap but this is a good place for a special occasion.
R. S.
Smith and Wollensky has a 3 out of 5 food standards rating, dated september 2020.
Overall experience was good but we wouldn't go back for the food. we walked in about 8pm on a july 2021 evening. Having never been before we were curious.
We were seated quickly for cocktails whilst they found a table. The restaurant wasn't full so we could have been seated immediately, but the cocktail was good.
Service was attentive and all went smoothly.
The bread was warm and tasty.
Mains arrived and that's where we come to the three stars. I think they timed the 400g sirloin wrongly as it was still a bit bloody for a medium well done. And our mac and cheese whilst baked on top was rather cold in the centre.. how are they warming this up??
Wine was fine, we went for one of the cheaper bottles on the menu.
Friends of mine would have sent the food back, but we were hungry and tired from a long day and still had a train to catch home. So sadly not a great experience , but clearly other people really enjoyed it.

We visited for lunch on Sunday 08.06.21 as a treat from my partner for my birthday. The food and service was excellent the staff and manager really made us feel specially taken care of and will definitely be coming back.

Smith & Wollensky has always been great in New York and now it's great in London! Fantastic steaks, excellent sides, great wine list and yummy desserts if you have room. If you want a great steak with first class service, look no further.

What can someone say apart from OUTSTANDING FOOD & STAFF. Twice a year my wife and I come here and every time it's just simply perfect can't fault the service from.the gorgeous decor to.the delicious food simply the best.
We had the pleasure to be served by Jorge tonight that was so very attentive with us what a gentleman 👏 , the chef who cooked our steaks to perfection and Dario that made us the best cocktails we had wow you guys are such a bonus to the S&W team. I hope your manager knows how lucky they are to have you and the rest of the team because you made our dinner so very special and THANK YOU 😀😀🧡
C. V.
Excellent service, delicious steak cooked perfectly in a nice atmosphere, romantic surrounding for a date night
A. B.
Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic. Such a superb meal and brilliant staff.
The food was excellent, the cocktails delicious, and all served to perfection.
The staff couldn't do enough to make sure you were ok.
Highly recommend.
G. H.
Excellent. From the decor to the service. Very friendly and professional. The Meats are top quality and cooked to perfection. All the sides are delicious. Eaten here a few times and the quality is consistent. Bravi!!!!
A. S.
The steak was cooked perfectly, the cocktails were delicious and the service was excellent. No complaints from either of us. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating and polite.
N. D.
Came here for a work dinner and we had a fantastic evening. The food and wine was wonderful. A special thank you to George for his patience with 12 rowdy colleagues, he was super friendly and professional.
M. M.
Found our experience quite disappointing. We went out as a group of 8 for pre-Christmas celebration . Table wasn't ready on our arrival, not a massive issue as we went to the bar, but not ideal as there were small children in our party. Service dropped off after a while to the extent that we we all got quite bored waiting for our main course plates to be cleared, and we were unable to get anyone's attention. Found the festive menu quite disappointing as well, nothing special, although the Irish grass fed steak was well flavoured. The accompanying sides were average. Based on the experience, I probably wouldn't eat here again. Although cocktails were very nice and the bar area was inviting, so I would recommend for drinks.
A. G.
Great food. Set menu was reasonable priced for what was on offer and 3 courses. Steak is amazing.
A. P.
Food was fantastic, the best steak I have had in a long time. Waiters/waitresses were very attentive and kind. We were celebrating our anniversary and the extra touch of a glass of bubbly at the start was thoughtful. Cocktails were delicious, and the giant chocolate cake at the end was incredible (although it left us deafeated!). We will definitely be returning!
s. x.
Really good steak and nice atmosphere. Service here was excellent, always friendly and professional.
J. K.
Wow....do not delay in visiting this place if you want the best steak in London!
The restaurant is in an ideal situation (very close to the Savoy and very stress-free surroundings). It does a fantastic job of holding over 350 guests without feeling too big. The lighting is impressive and the upstairs bar is the perfect place for a post-dinner drink.
The food itself is just delicious- you must try the spinach side and the shrimp starter!
We were lucky enough to meet Nathan (Managing partner) who gave us a tour of the whole restaurant and his recommendation on what to order were spot on.
I cannot wait to return!
R. K.
A traditional and quality steak restaurant. Everything is quality served. It was a pity that I didn’t take photos of other dishes. We were desperate to have them lol.
P. !.
Super food, excellent steak, top top.top.class service, friendly staff great welcome, super service, everything news brilliant. Hygiene health and safety is spot on, Have absolutely no complaints!
C. S.
Fantastic steak restaurant! We have been to this restaurant a number of times for special catch ups and celebrations and we always have amazing food and the service is impeccable. We will definitely be returning in the future, I recommend the USDA Prime dry-aged steak, it’s the best!
H. i. L.
Enjoyed brunch here with two friends. Cannot fault the food, which was delicious. Four stars instead of five because it was difficult to get the attention of our waiter throughout the meal.
J. B.
Arguably the best meal I've ever had in my life. Menu was varied and had something for everyone but the reason you come here is undoubtedly the steak. I had a smaller 225g sirloin and it was incredible. Cooked to perfection, melted in mouth and potentially would not have needed a steak knife that's how tender the cut was. All sides are large in portion and equally cooked beautifully.
Staff are attentive and happy to chat with you about your upcoming meal. Very discreet in asking if you would like another drink/pouring out your next glass of wine irrespective of the occasion.
Cocktails are masterfully made and were a hit all around as well as the wide selection of wines and their year.
Most guests were suited and booted however there was no issues with jeans and a t shirt. Was expensive but then again you knew that when you looked at this restaurant, don't let that put you off though, definitely worth it.
Very laid back overall and an amazing experience if you want to taste the best London can offer.
J. J.
We had our Christmas meal here at Smith & Wollensky and it was superb. A few chose from the wonderful selection of steaks whereas I had the traditional turkey which was very tasty. The main areas on both floors are extremely busy and very noisy at this time of year which may not be to everyones liking but we hired one of the private rooms with our own dedicated waiter. The wine list is extensive and the staff make sure you are happy with every course that is brought to you. This is the second time we have had our Christmas meal here and we would definitely come again. The pictures were taken early on before it got really busy.
P. J. A. C.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Fell in love with the food, service and wine menu. USDA is so good here that I could have it every single day of my life if I lived in the area. Cannot stop talking about this place. We had the opportunity to see how they dry age the meet and they even took us to the kitchen to see how everything goes in there. I highly recommend you ask for it even if they do not offer it to you, I am sure they will say yes.
P. J.
Having visited on numerous occasions for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, we can vouch that Smith & Wollensky is one of London’s premium steak restaurants. On this occasion the visit was for dinner and as always the steak quality was immense and the selection of sides, along with the great service made the occasion as special as ever.
C.
Without doubt one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had. My fiancee and I visited for our anniversary on a quiet Sunday afternoon near to closing time. I had the USDA prime rib eye whilst my partner had the USDA fillet. Both steaks cooked to perfection and an absolute dream. Our waiter was exceptional with his manner and knowledge and the decor was beautiful down to the smallest detail. 10/10 for us and we will be returning.
K. S.
Lovely evening here. Great ambience. Wide menu particularly for meat eaters! Wine list extensive. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Not particularly cheap but you get what you pay for. Will definitely visit again.
T. C.
Have been meaning to visit for the last three years when the doorman kindly let me Park my car opposite the restaurant while attending a birthday party elsewhere and he was brillient and accompanied me with umbrella to the venue as it was pouring down with rain.
Impeccable service with great attention to detail. Fantastic place for steak lovers (we have eaten in many restaurants) our now firmly favorite for steak. Wine selection is just perfect with their Bin end offer even better.
Will be back soon.
Thank you.

The second time I've been to the UK S&W, both times have been excellent. The steak as you can imagine is superb but what stands out the most is just how good the staff are. Friendly and informative both on the phone and in person. It was me and my wife's 10th anniversary and they made us feel very special. Well done Smith and Wollensky and thank you for a lovely experience.
A. C.
The best steak we ever had! Special thanks to Sebastian who was really nice all throughout our dine in stay. Thank you SW!
R. C.
A superb stylish restaurant with a great menu choice. Steak of the highest quality as was the service and attention by first class staff. Keep up the great work and I will certainly be back.
N. H.
Bloody expensive but as my wife pointed out it was only £6 for every year of our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. I'll let you do the maths. The glass of bubbles when we arrived was a nice touch (I mentioned our Anniversary when I booked). Food was nice and the ambience was good for an early post theatre matinee dinner.
S. H.
Great service by the waiter. Unfortunately the bill was served 2hrs and 10 mins to get us out despite over £500 spend with the only reason people waiting in bar - yet tables were free… tomahawk was over cooked. Else food was good and key lime pie to die for… I was expecting a better standard - but hello this is as good as it gets at some places
J. O.
Having visited these restaurants in America i was hoping they would be up to there sister establishments high standards and boy were they. From the minute you arrive to the time you leave you are looked after, the deco esq styling is very well done. The food is phenomenal (even better than there american cousins). Is it expensive? yes, is it worth it? Definitely. Great work people.
Will definitely be back.

I have been to this restaurant before and the one in NYC. The food is top notch. This time we had a travel zoo voucher with a set menu. Sadly the reservation wasn't confirmed by the restaurant and when I called to advise them I'd be a a little late they informed me they had no record of my booking! They were not very apologetic but in the end managed to squeeze a table of four in an hour later. There was no real apology for this error on their part (I had supplied everything needed and had email confirmation). Regardless the cocktails were great we sampled a fair few between my party of four, starters lovely, and the extra sides very good in particular the onion rings! Service in the restaurant was great, they are very attentive. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this restaurant just advise you to double check the booking, maybe triple check...!
G. E.
Seriously good steaks.... Great service, covid safe, not rushed even on Saturday evenings. Pricey but well worth it.
D.
Pretty average really. Expected more for the price and generally felt let down.
Booked a table for eight to celebrate a special 60th birthday. Agreed everything with senior staff back in July and the only decision outstanding was the birthday cake. At the time Covid restrictions would not allow us to supply our own but they could provide something special for us. Days before our party we checked the cake situation only to be told we would be charged £7.00 per person if we served our own cake. I have never heard of anything like this. When we asked what they could provide as an alternative we were told there was nothing available as their pattisierre had not yet come back to the team!
On the night we were greeted and seated. Staff offered drinks and checked back in fairly regularly. Once the food arrived it was difficult to get staff attention to request sauces etc. which were not offered. When coffee was served there was no sugar provided or offered. There seemed to be a lot of staff around but it was challenging to get their attention.
Generally the restaurant is incredibly loud and talking across the table it is difficult to be heard.
The food however was lovely. No complaints at all but I would not say outstanding enough to warrant the price.
Overall I would say it was a disappointing experience and I would not recommend it.
K. “. L.
Went here for a late birthday treat. We shared a seafood platter (1 tray) and Cote de boeuf (1kg) steak between 3 of us. It was more than enough with left over steak to take home so that we could have dessert, the key lime pie was lovely. They have a huge selection of wine so took me a while to decide. I ordered fresh mint tea, think an extra few sprigs of mint will do better. Service was great and attentive. I liked the Art Deco and there were good ambience though l didn’t like it when they dimmed the lights when it was already low light. The only downside was the ladies toilets round from the bar was blocked, smelly and no hand towels, so l alerted a member of staff. Glad the one downstairs was nice and clean.

5 star place! Smith & Wollensky is a gem and probably the best restaurant in London, they treat you like royalty from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Highly recommend!
Their staff is so friendly and professional! Food was amazing that steak I will remember the taste melting in my mouth for the rest of my life!
I had a Birthday celebration for my dear friend who is 86 and she was so delighted when the candle and a chocolate cake came to surprise her.
We had the best meal and an unforgettable dining experience! Thank you!
D. S.
Always reliable for an evening meal, and simply the best steak in town, but after 5 years of being regulars here we’ve had our first Sunday lunch and I have to say it was very good. We made it an early Christmas do, but the Eggs Benedict as starter was exceptional. Sadly no photo of that, but here’s Christmas lunch.
S. E.
Had lunch with a customer today. Excellent place. Great starter - Prawn Cocktail but not your bog standard Prawn Cocktail- you’ll see! Lovely fillet steak, and Cheesecake. Proper blow out. Classy restaurant for serious eaters with a huge selection of wine. Not a cheap mind you, but in my book you get what you pay for.
G. H.
Best steak I've ever had, best food I've ever had, cocktails, starters, sides, desserts all 10... Server was brilliant too Will be coming back here on a special occasion.... You have to be an absolute mug to go a steak from Salt Bae rather than coming here!!!
S. C.
Smith & Wollensky deserves every star for this review and some. It's a classy place to go to but has a relaxed air about it. From start to finish the service is first class. I booked it for after show dining for my Mum's birthday via Open Table. They even rang me the day before to confirm my booking. We had the Wollensky Butchers burger and it was one of the best we have had and it was filling. Fries are extra as was the mushrooms - it was enough for the two of us. For desert we had the Cheese Cake with Blueberries and it was too draw. Primarily it's a steak restaurant but they do have other mains on the menu. Steaks are not cheap but from what I could see they are premier grade. When we had finished they bought up a scoop of yummy ice cream with a candle on it with happy birthday on in chocolate on the plate - a really lovely surprise for my Ma's 82nd; Open Table booking asked if there was a celebration. No question, I'll be going back when I'm up in Town for the a theatre trip. Top draw and top class.
S. N.
Top of the market steak restaurant that offers style and service that out-does anywhere else. Amazing steaks including a 1kg Tommahawk 60 day aged. This place is a treat for your taste buds.
C. A.
Excellent service, food and ambiance was great 👍 lovely night out!
D. B.
Got a great deal on bookatable for this place 250g steak plus unlimited chips for £19. The service is excellent and wine selection was vast. The place itself is something you would see in old school new york movies. Will definitely be coming back.
J. H.
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience. My wife and I have eaten at both the New York and London locations, celebrating both our engagement and more recently our wedding, and would recommend to all. Staff go above and beyond for you, full of knowledge and advice for both first time and experienced diners.
Some may argue that the price is slightly steep, however in this case you get what you pay for. Tremendous meal service and atmosphere.
Can't wait to go again
S. D.
You absolutely get what you pay for.
The food is fantastic, steaks cooked to perfection.
Sides were excellent also, especially the whipped potatoes and truffle mac and cheese.
Service impeccable, staff were friendly and attentive.
L. H.
Perfect place for steak lovers! The dry-aged steak is sooooo good! Also, I ordered one glass of red wine which was the first one on the wine lists, Italian one, suitable with steak. But the chilli&garlic shrimp was over-cooked and the flavour had no any specialty. A lovely meal with my friends.
M.
Had a fantastic dinner here. Came a little early and had great cocktails - the Old Timer and The Golden Fashion are both awesome twists on classics. Tuna Ceviche to start was so fresh with a hit of chilli which was excellent - ham hock & foie gras terrine was good but not on the same level as the ceviche. The Tomahawk was excellent as you would expect. Creamed spinach really great, as was the truffled Mac and cheese. Would definitely return. The service was also excellent to match - very knowledgable and friendly.
O. A.
Quick service and friendly staff. Food comes out really fast, friendly staff however giving this 3 star as I wasn't really impressed with the taste. Also I suggest they should include hot starters on their menu.
A. K.
If you love steak this place is a definite must xx
A. U.
We had a wonderful birthday meal here. The 1kg tomahawk steak was amazing, perfectly cooked and one of the best steaks I've tried. The only minor detractor was the sides which were nice but nothing special or memorable.
The service however was top class. Extremely attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming. We were given a birthday card from the restaurant along with a slice of chocolate cake with happy birthday written on the plate and the venue itself is impressive! A good place to go if you're celebrating a special occasion.
D. P.
American style upmarket steak house, also seafood. Its expensive but the meat was fabulous. Portions are large. Take advice on the cuts of meat as they do vary week to week.
M. H.
The starter was amazing, i liked they asked how you like your burger, shame you dobt get fries with it especially how much you pay for the brunch. The steak was amazine and the desert was to die for. I would have given 5 stars if the burger came with fries
C.
Great quality food in a well styled restaurant with a classic ambiance. Although pricey the food is well portioned and presented. Amazing staff are very attentive and are able to recommend items and pairings.
Would go again.
K. R.
Absolutely faultless, our server was an absolute delight, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant.
M. D.
Service, decor, wine and food takes some beating in London
M. P.
Wow, I don't know if you can get a better steak than they serve at S&W. We shared the tomahawk and it was otherworldly. They offer sauces to accompany, but they weren't needed. Additionally, the truffled Mac & Cheese was unexpectedly delicious. The creamed spinach was very flavorful, not drenched in cream, but was a but too thin to eat with a fork. Overall, a great expensive meal to suit special occasions!
F. V.
Loved it! Opted for the 3 course bottomless brunch menu which was all delicious and great value. The burger was so juicy and the truffle mac n cheese was incredible. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes. The service was perfect, with very regular top ups and friendly staff. Will definitely be returning.
D. T.
Tasty steak lunch with the family. Great service, starters were lovely and the steaks were juicy. The Italian cocktail went down well too. Daughter enjoyed the sundae table which allowed her to add her own toppings. For a more detailed review, check out my blog, ABC Dad.
H. A. S.
Beautiful food, amazing staff and lovely atmosphere. We dined here for our anniversary and were treated with some prosecco! The staff were all so attentative, knowledgable about their food and drinks and personable. As for the food.. well.. just wonderful!
r. m.
It's kinda like an expensive Miller and carter but... Oddly worse.
Can't knock the starters but the steak was not all that and the wine.. You need to spend proper money for anything vaguely nice.
R. M.
Fantastic food as you can clearly see from the remains of the surf and turf the stake was carved at the table as it was for sharing ,cocktails wow a must ,the staff friendly and attentive , prices to suite most budgets . We will definitely be back there , try the place out you won't be disappointed 5 star's thank you all we had a great time
C. T.
Just Awesome the USDA cuts were just amazing and the chocolate Cake OMG!!! Even had a tour of the Kitchen!! Great service too the manager Richard Chebbi was just great and ensured we enjoyed the experiance!! Will definatly be back very soon!
5 stars all the way from me
T. B.
Very good quality food, I strongly recommend the steaks. Good service as well, perfect place for a business dinner.

Just as good as my new York visit.... Fabulous and a must !!!!
J. I. R.
Lovely atmosphere & decor. Fantastic cuts of meat perfectly cooked. Great service. Would highly recommend.
M. P.
Lovely place, nice atmosphere and classic interior. More on a serious side rather than hipster. Prices a bit more expensive, but nothing crazy. Steaks delicious and drinks we’ve had were amazing.
D. D.
We had lunch at Smith & Wollenksy today, and we ate very well. the Tomahawk was cooked very well. The best steak in London. special thanks goes to manager Falko for the service and the wine advice. A place that definitely worth visiting.
Y. H.
I spent my birthday there. It is not cheap, indeed, but the atmosphere, service and the quality of meat worth the price. Was sent a small birthday 🍰. Thank you:) Anyway I’d love to revisit there for the sirloin and French fries:))
E. C.
Perfect for an anniversary or a treat but it is expensive. The quality of the food is outstanding. My steak was incredible. They do brunch that seemed reasonably priced and it has a 2hr bottomless prosecco or champagne option.
E. O. G.
I haven't even had my food yet and they've already earned 5 stars. When I say "they've" I mean the staff. Friendly, accommodating and attentive. One waitress noticed my glass low on water and refilled it for me. What incredible service. The interior is a mix of old meets new with great attention to detail. Definatly a must go to restaurant if you're in the london area. Maybe I'll let you know what the food tastes like sometime lol.
B. C.
We had my Husband's 30th Birthday at Smith & Wollensky and as always very nice welcoming, amazing athmosphere and unbelievable funny and kind waiters.
He had the 1kg Tomahawk steak (they didn't mind to stick the candles in the steak either) and their Famous Gigantic chocolate cake!!! Amazing, amazing, amazing. Thank you very much.

A nice upscale restaurant with steaks as their main event. USDA and Irish steaks of various cuts. I had a Kansas Sirloin, 600g, £64, see picture. Great selection of wines and beers, and good service. I would recommend booking a table, but I was there on Monday 7pm and the restaurant didn't get more than 10% full. The atmosphere is quiet and not really offering a great deal of excitement in the place, but maybe it does on a busy Thursday through to Sunday. Adjacent to the Adelphi, Charing Cross Station and The Strand.

Visited again on Saturday 3rd December 2021. This time we took the kids, 8 & 12. The service was absolutely faultless, every member of staff we interacted with was very friendly and welcoming.
A must if your in the area. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality Smith & Wollensky
Had a few drinks at the bar as we were early for our reservation. Barstaff very friendly and made great drinks. Steak was amazing. We were sat by a bunch of obnoxious toffs being loud and rude to waiters and taking all of there attention. Half way through our meal the waitress left and her colleague was left to deal with far to many tables resulting in very poor service. Just not acceptable when your paying £280.00 for a meal for two
S. N.
By far and away the best steak restaurant in London in terms of quality of food and service, fantastic value and standards. The best London has to offer.
C. S.
Visited for dinner with a time out offer. Offer was amazingly good value and the steak, sides and wines were very tasty. I especially love the service and attention to detail from the waiting staff. Would visit again!
M. F.
Excellent steak with plenty of chips. Of course it's very expensive (£4.50 for a bottle of water), and the evening we were there it was so noisy at our table near the bar we had to practically shout.
B. W.
Wonderful service and the steaks are some of the best I have ever eaten, would highly recommend.
R. L.
Smith & Wollensky is a gem and probably the best restaurant in London, they treat you like royalty from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Highly recommend!
T. B.
I believe this is the only Smith and Wollenski outside of the US. Delicious USDA prime steaks. It doesn't get any better.
The service and attentiveness of staff is on a different level, fantastic.
The Californian muscat wine paired with the New York cheesecake was a revelation.
The only thing is that all this is not cheap, but you do get what you pay for.
P. S.
A family member had a party here which was situated underneath the main restaurant. The art deco is fantastical and really gives the feel of olden day class.
The service, staff, food and sheer quality of the custom made cocktail drinks made this a great evening.
L. H.
Had heard of Smith & Wollensky though North American friends so was thrilled to visit in London.
Really nice decor, recreating an Art Déco atmosphere
The meat was amazing and defenitely worth the visit though maybe not worth the hefty bill. We had booked a very good value offer through Open Table but still ended up with a bill of £50+ pp adding wine, sides and dessert.
Service was really nice but the restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday evening so we ended up waiting for our meals a bit longer than expected
M. L.
Had a perfect lunch. So lucky we didn't have to book. Staff amazing thank you
J. E. L.
The starters were very nice, the meat was amazing. Lastly the dessert was very good. The place is a bit expensive, but the food is very good.
M. G.
Staff are very nice and when we had a problem the dish was replaced and ultimately deducted from the bill. So, can't really fault the service but the food wasn't what you might expect at the prices. It's famous in NYC, but London has upped its steak game in recent years and there are better places to go now. Might improve with time.
C. W.
Lovely art deco building and food is great. Menu is more bar and grill oriented with lots of steaks and burgers. Will have to come back again.
N. T.
Amazing experience, staff were brilliant, food and drinks were divine, would highly recommend
E. H.
Fantastic restaurant, all the staff were super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The steak was unreal, particularly enjoyed the Cajun rub / oil for my ribeye.
J. M.
Very good restaurant. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Very attentive staff.
A. W.
Great special occasion venue for service and steak dinners. Never let down
J. S.
Amazing. Great service. Fantastic food. Cannot fault it. A treat.
J. P.
Up market stake house, very nice setting with experienced knowledge staff.
R. B.
Great steaks wonderful atmosphere, prices are moderate
J. W.
Everything was fantastic, the staff the food and the price. We enjoyed our experience.
P. W.
Great food, great service & great atmosphere! Definitely will be back
L. S.
Beautiful rib eye steak with gorgon style encrusted sauce, onion ring's we're huge, would definitely recommend 🖒
P. E.
Great stake. Interesting trips to the kitchen. Good service. Nice location.
C. P.
Wow wow wow. Seriously great food. Seriously great service. I had beef tartare... YUM! Main was fillet of Irish steak. Melt in the mouth. Really folks, go here, you will not be disappointed.
M. J. S. J.
Staff is nice and friendly, meat is ok, ambient is well designed, good atmosphere.. but regarding food, is just ok.
L. L.
Fantastic food and cocktails, would recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent quality food and drink, with a great atmosphere and staff. We went for my 30th birthday meal, they brought out a little complimentary dessert plate and birthday card.
I. D.
I booked here because the other two well known high end steak restaurant chains in London were booked out, and I’m happy they were. The waiters here were world class in that they were just happy to be open and providing the best food in London, giving us time to chat privately but knowing just when to jump in to ask if we needed anything.. lots of love in this place in the service, atmosphere and of course the food.
T. P.
Not your everyday restaurant, very much for special occasions, priced accordingly with excellent food. First class service with a very attentive waiter.
L. M. M.
Came for the set menu and was not disappointed. Food was delicious, services was on point and the restaurant is beautiful. They have a great selection of wines and soft drinks. Tables are well spaced out and all staff were correctly wearing PPE. I highly recommend and would not hesitate to come back.
D.
Quality evening. Very polite and we'll trained staff. Perhaps the best I've seen. I was a little disappointed in the size of our meals for what they cost. I realise it's a high end restaurant. But, I can't help but think they were taking advantage of a Lovely decor and aesthetic to be able to charge you more for minimal servings.
I think the steaks were cooked perfectly. Also, the sides dishes were very tasty.
I can't say I'll be going back too often, which is a shame. Because the staff made the birthday we were celebrating exceptional. The cost leads me to the conclusion, that I can eat the same quality of food with a larger portion for less elsewhere. Please do not take that as me saying the food was bad, it definitely was very tasty.
The Linen was all spotless, cutlery was super shiny, glasses were sparkling and bathrooms were immaculate.
They are clearly very committed to an exceptionally high standard of service and presentation. Just don't get to crazy with your minimalist servings. You could have easily have added a little spoon of spinach, asparagus, broccoli, carrots or mash on to the side of the chicken or the steak on the main section of the A La Carte menu for not much extra cost. Yes, you made money selling it to me as a side. But, I will now re-evaluate if I come back or bring friends with me again. So who really loses out?
Please consider the constructive criticism, not a be complaint. The things you do well, you do better than many others!
M. H.
USDA cote de beuf cooked medium rare was amazing with 2 sides (fries and mushrooms) between 2 people was enough to fill us. Great cocktails and service.
J. D.
Lovely steak, great wine, great service!
P. L.
Had the most amazing time here. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great. I will definitely eat here again.
j. s.
Good range of USDA steaks. Service not brilliant but kitchen definitely turning out great steaks, cooked well.
W. T.
Great steaks and service, we had tomahawk steak for 2, wow
M. S.
Excellent stake at a resonable price! Soft and juicy. From local and America. Must try!
D. H.
My sixth visit to this great restaurant.
The service food and cocktails are fantastic, you won’t get a better steak in london!.
We were served by a fantastic Brazilian lady called Patricia....she’s a credit to the restaurant.
F. S.
It's hard to say anything, it was amazing. Meet is outstandingly good, prices are fair for this quality. It is hard to find, but this fact will allow you to dine without reservation. Highly recommend it
P. G.
Have done meals in the restaurant in Chicago, New York Miami and London and have never been disappointed with the quality of their Steaks.
K. W.
Been twice loved it each time. The food is delicious here. Big portions. Great service, taking into account our gluten free diner. Will come back again!
UPDATED: in 2021 lockdown we ordered the delivery of a Valentine's steak box it was wow. You can also buy their steak knives and napkins such a nice touch. I hope we can all come out of lockdown soon and get back to normal and visit!
P. P.
Best steakhouse in town !!!
From the moment you walk in you are greeted and treated wonderful by the lovely staff there.
This is my wife and I second year celebrating her special day at S&W.
The steaks are so very juicy and beautifully cooked you can choose a variety of steaks, the menu itself is very rich with great cocktails choice .
I'm so very particular with food especially when it comes to steaks , and this place never fails to impress me. The waiters we had Patrizia & Arlindo are perfect really really amazing in every aspect so attentive to our needs. They would definitely deserve a promotion by their manager whom I hope will read this.
D. K.
10-10 spearos was perfect waiter, the whole experience was first class from start to finish.
M. A.
One of London's great steak restaurants. The porterhouse is amazing. Veggies and potatoes done perfectly. The staff is first rate - welcoming, helpful with suggestions and efficient. The wine list is fabulous. We had a great meal. All this comes at a price but it was worth it.
P. C.
Lovely experience! The place is beautiful, the staff very friendly and attentive, the stake is outstanding. I had my steak with the South Carolina BBQ sauce and pan-fries mushrooms, all delicious.
Downside: The bill took 15 min to arrive and we had to ask for it twice.
R. G.
Brilliant food in a beautiful restaurant. It was incredibly festive!
L. W.
We were part of a large party of people at a family occasion in a private dining room. The food was ok, but if you're not ordering a steak then other dishes were sub standard. The desserts on the set menu were all so sweet no one was able to find finish them. Quality of table service in the room was variable and they seemed easily hassled. The doorman was v pleasant as was receptionist.
T. S.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food... what more could you want ?
G. N.
Great food and amazing service! Went there for a birthday dinner and we had an amazing personalized treatment! Steaks are unbelievably good!
C. D.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. No pressure to rush, we just ate and drank in gorgeous surroundings!
G. J.
The food was amazing but the service was not great. Firstly we got allocated to a table which was too small for the number of people and there weren't even enough place settings for us. Took a while for a waiter to come to us. Took even longer to get drinks. We did get moved to a better table after having to wait. For the amount of money it costs to eat here, I would have expected the service to be great. It was average. The waiter did not know anything about the steaks or wine. When we asked what the difference between one steak and the other was we got the answer "it's bigger" and then a strange look. One of the people's sides was forgotten. When the waiter was informed there was no apology. Just a response of "they're coming". 10-15 minutes after the food had 1st arrived, the sides came. Too late. Again, no apology. Food 10/10. Service 5/10.
R. F.
The special porterhouse of 1.2kgs is really good. Best choice for value-price. The staff is particularly kind. Drinks are good and the desert above average. Don’t come if you’re expecting English food: this is a Classic American Steakhouse. Even though, is really good.
R. M.
Lovely food... Great bar.... Fantastic staff...
D. S.
This restaurant was perfect, the staff are excellent the food as expected was great and the atmosphere was good even in these covid secure times. The measures in place were well explained and followed by all. Cant wait to go back in normal times.
L. S.
Brilliant night out. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere. Staff were attentive - excellent service. If you like your steaks this is the place to go. Delicious. Worth every single penny.
O. P.
Well this was a truly unreal experience. Starting with the vibe and interior design this place is truly next level. Comfy, quality and stylish. Waiters are great, full of knowledge and welcoming. Food was exceptional paid with top top wine. I am really looking forward to going back to try more from the menu.
N. E. S.
Amazing steaks and sides ..pricey so I will keep it for a special occasion..
M. P.
Great steaks good wines great service always a pleasure in London or New York...
H. D.
Best steak ever, but the sides are the thing that will get you.
Not cheap but you wouldn't come here expecting it to be. The restaurant is an art deco building so is beautiful inside. On the night I went I didn't have a reservation but the staff were great about getting me a table with no hassle at all.
Steaks are amazing and really well booked, but the sides are very very good. The truffle mac and cheese was the best version I have had in ages and big enough to take the leftovers home!!!
Well worth it.
C. S.
Food is excellent. Drink is nice and staff are very attentive. Every time I was nearing the end of my pint a well dress server came over and discretely (we were in a business meeting) asked if I would like another.
Every course was wonderful. Steak cooked to perfection. Cannot recommend enough.
A. H.
The restaurant is architecturally really interesting. A beautifully designed ‘club-feel’ creates and ambience that is relaxed and not too formal. The waiting staff and bar team are friendly, engaging and helpful - with insightful and informative tips about the menu and vino. The steaks truly are extraordinary. This is a meal to savour and not rush. Unfortunately we only had 2 hours between part 1 & 2 of The Inheritance play at the Noel Coward theatre so had to skip desert. A great albeit limited list of ‘starters’ (goats cheese is a first class choice). The US beef steaks with mushrooms was very succulent and and very nicely medium rare. Highly recommended!
S. S. C.
Good value for money. The meats were amazing, right cooking, service excellent and the chocolate cake the biggest that I ever seen.
E. a. W. m.
Dishes were generally pretty good. Our server was quite friendly and although the service could have been more attentive, it’s very understandable given it’s a very busy night.
What put us off was the front desk as we were not served according to order and they had also misplaced our coat.
Quite nice as a date night but nothing special to bring us back.
f.
An elegant steakhouse that even imports USDA prime steaks. They have some delicious steaks that come with a hefty price tag. However, it was the best steak I have ever had. Their cocktails are also fabulously crafted, especially the Whiskey Sour. Highly recommend it. The speed and attentiveness of service could be improved. Great experience nonetheless.
F. A.
Went for a Sunday brunch/lunch. Friendly service but poor knowledge of the menu and about half an hour (not exaggerating) wait when ordering drinks. Got tempted by the brunch menu, this was a mistake but that’s my fault for going with it in a steak restaurant. Cerviche pretty good but bacon hash was undercooked and under seasoned. The slice of a Pecan pie was a sliver and devoid of flavour. Someone ordered onion rings for the table. That was the best food I had whilst there.
In its defence, nice decor, decent wine and excellent Bloody Mary.
Seemed like a bit of a tourist trap to me
L. S.
Absolutely excellent. Fantastic food, service, drinks. Would very much recommend.
A. P.
Lovely experience! Incredible steaks, great service.
We dined as part of the set meal menu and was surprised I couldn't change the cocktail as I dislike Whiskey. I wanted an exchange for a cocktail at the same price/ cheaper than the whiskey one but was told I couldn't.
All in all the food was delicious and beautiful interior design
R. N.
Fantastic service and food. Stunning restaurant. We had the private Churchill Room off the main restaurant downstairs. We had our own waiter who was brilliant (I'm sorry I can't remember a name to thank). It was my birthday and we all had a lovely evening. Thank you so much.
嘤.
Great steak! Interesting selections of sauces.
D. K.
Very flavorful steaks and sides. They even make in house jerky from their steak trimmings. The bar downstairs is well stocked and the service in the entire place is very good. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant. You wont get get out of this place for less than 50£ for one dinner with a drink but you will be happy with the value.
I. S.
Great place.
Starters are perfect .
Amazing tender and flavorful steaks!!!! It is really off the charts
P. M.
High end steak house. Perfect art deco setting and the food is first rate.
K. P.
Excellent steak, very good wine list.
K. M.
Good food
Good staff
Good atmosphere
J. H.
We went here after going to see Mamma Mia in London and whilst it is very expensive you get what you pay for. The restaurant was very busy with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious - gorgeous succulent steaks cooked to perfection with a couple of sides followed by a large chocolate dessert meant for sharing (which we couldn't finish but which our waiter bagged up for us in a nice Smith & Wollensky bag!). Our waiter was excellent, attentive but not overly so and very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the whole experience and can't wait to go back. (NB: We have been to several Smith & Wollensky's in the USA and I think this one in London is definitely my favourite - very glad they've finally made it across the pond!)
H. H.
Had a lovely time, the place, the staff and the food were awesome thank you all for making us welcome xxx
K. L. S.
Beautiful surroundings and food. Friendly but not intrusive staff, had a nice evening here
I. R.
Huge space on the ground floor and down in the basement to host larger parties. Dinner is great. Bars on both the floors. Waiters seem genuinely interested in your food well being quick to fill the empty glasses. Go and laugh with your friends and enjoy sumptuous meals.
R. N.
One of the best meat restaurants I’ve been to. Great food, great serving and great wines.
O. O.
One of the best steaks (especially USDA) and side dishes in London.
Better than the JW Marriott Steakhouse.
R. E.
Deffinitely one of the best steak houses I've been to. A little bit of New York in London. Great service. Amazing food. Not inexpensive but worth every penny.
Would highly recommend if you want the above. Also a great selection of wines and cocktails
A. M.
London prices but very tasty meal. We had steak fries mushrooms and spinach...all very flavoursome. Quality staff. Nice decor. Ladies toilet could do with an update but ample soap and sanitiser and personalised individual hand towels
T. K.
My dining guest & myself had a memorable experience at Smith & Wollensky last night.
We had the standard sirloin steak which is anything except standard, the 250g hunk of meat is very sizable and was perfectly cooked and meltingly tender. The endless fries arrive piping hot and kept on coming. It all slipped down nicely with a very bold Australian shiraz that held its own against the beefiness.
We upgraded the meal with some sides which were expertly cooked and beautifully presented. My sauce bearnaise need special mention and was as delicious, rich and decadent as I've ever had. Staff were attentive without being fussy and the surroundings; a luxurious interior of polished brass, chrome & parquet floors with just the right amount of lighting rounded off a great evening.
A. A.
We employed Smith & Wollensky for our wedding meal for 13 guests. We hired one of their private rooms for the afternoon and early evening.
Valerie (and Lily at the very start) was my Events Manager and leading up to the wedding, was attentive and asked plenty of questions to ensure the day went smoothly. She also accommodated our requests, such as storing our cake and wine in the restaurant before the wedding.
On the day, the service and food were excellent. All our guests loved the food, especially the steak!
To top it off, we also received a generous voucher that would pretty much cover a generous meal for two.
A big thank you to Valerie and your colleagues for a wonderful day!
P. B.
Visited this much-loved steak house for a 60th birthday treat. What can I say - if you like steak and can only afford to eat out once a year, then you must come here! The USDA dry aged steak is expensive but 100% worth every succulent, tender mouthful. You won't taste better beef anywhere in the country. For dessert the giant chocolate cake looked and tasted spectacular - accompanied by its own churn of sweetened cream! Service was brilliant - we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked and left feeling like old friends. The decor is authentic, old school, high-end New York - you almost expected Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci to walk in! The bar is a great place to spend time and the weekend brunch is a real treat, so I have been told.
F. F.
Great services. Fabulous steaks, very historic building. Great chef and the tour by the manager was super interesting. Would highly recommend

Great Birthday meal.....will definitely be back...
S. P.
Celebrated our sons 18th birthday there.
Super restaurant . The food is excellent. Service was first class, really liked our waiter. Lighting and decor created a fabulous ambiance. Can’t think of a negative.
M. K.
Very, very good quality steak at suitable prices!
M. D.
Very good service and nice food. The cocktail which they offered at the beginning was pleasant and the steak was cooked to perfection. It is pricey but that is to be expected
P. H.
Great restaurant pre theatre, sumptuous decor, fantastic service and the steaks are spit on
N. S.
Spotted a number of B list celebrities enjoying a pre-Christmas meal and a very lively bar area fill of people who thought they were celebrities. Very good steak, attentive service as you would expect from such an expensive restaurant. Main dish is priced highly then every extra - sides, sauces is an additional line item on your bill. Thus two sides and a steak sauce can add £15 per person so be aware - don't go unless you are feeling flush! Mark up on wine eye-watering on well selected classics-heavy list. However not all wines available.
J. S.
Impeccable service and beautifully cooked steaks. We even got a tour of the wine cellar and kitchen! Wine list was fantastic, lots from California which I appreciated. The decor is stunning, glamorous yet cozy. Will definitely be returning.
H. N.
Without doubt, the BEST steakhouse in London! Amazing dry aged prime beef from the States is delectable. Beautiful restaurant with superb wine list & extensive wines by the glass selection. Service was professional and polite, as was the management. Forget the rest..this is the best!!
M. Z.
Good restaurant with a great bar just of the Strand offering a good selection of cocktails and wine.
Update: I went back a week later and had an even better experience. The service at the bar really is great and I tried their burger, which is really very very good.
K. C.
Wonderful breakfast, quality ingredients. The ambience is lovely and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Looking forward to coming again for dinner in the future!
C. C.
Best steak I have ever eaten in my life
A. J.
Perfect non rushed dinning experience, with an excellent selection of steaks, from the US, Australia, and the UK. Very friendly knowledgeable staff, who are extremely attentive. Jumped into my top 5 steak restaurants in London
B. R.
Delicious. Amazing food
S. E.
Superb service and amazing food would highly recommend!
O. P.
Beautiful place with amazing steaks!!! The only disappointing thing was...fries! Do not order French fries. It tastes like it's made of frozen (and not the best quality) pre-cut potatoes.... But the steaks are so big that you don't really need to pay extra for the side of fries (which is £6). Better leave the room for the dessert :)
S. B.
This is a top quality eating establishment. Staff make you feel special. Proper silver service. All English China, cutlery etc. Oysters were amazing. Burgers were the best ever. A bit too large, but amazing nonetheless.
Wine by the carafe was very good quality.
Return visit planned.
N. S.
Wow. Exceptional steaks, perfectly cooked, outstanding service and an incredible wine and drinks offering. Our sommelier and waiter (Edgar) knew his beef (and the rest of the menu), was sufficiently attentive that we barely needed to ask for anything whilst managing to avoid interrupting. This goes for all the serving staff. Steaks cooked to order - clearly by a pro' - marbled and medium rare. Off menu cocktail requests created on spec...In short we didn't know what to expect - but were thoroughly impressed. We came for dinner for my birthday - we'll definitely be back before my next.
N. J. B.
Terrific food. Nice staff. A bit loud music, so it might be somewhat difficult to hold conversation going between more than two people as the evening progresses. But still a great place for a better dinner!
M. W.
Attentive but unobtrusive staff, brilliant venue, perfect food. We'll be back!
R. T.
Best steak I've had. Waiter made the evening even more incredible. Excellent evening.
A. A.
Delicious steaks, perfectly cooked, with really good spinach and mushroom sides and a perfect brownie that was chewy, crunchy and truly delicious. My only regret was agreeing to share the brownie, big mistake. Lovely surroundings and good service. Highly recommended.
S. S.
Really not bad. I liked the surf turf slant but I was a little disappointed because I really expected it to be like the Chop House I went to in the States or twice as good as Gaucho, going by price, and actually – I still prefer Gaucho. Of course the meat is king and you pay for it but after that It's all in the detail – finesse in cooking, the sides and the sauces, which we found to be average, not mind-blowing. Staff were fine, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience overall.
J. S.
My review is more negative than positive. When we arrived at reception, no staff to greet us.......eventually barman came to seat us. Main reason we chose this place was for roast dinner, annoyingly had run out due to a big party (12 people) and I stressed the reason we came was for roast and amazingly they had one left....good roast apart from Yorkshire pud tasted like a pancake...no bread for starters, run out of cheese and biscuits too. No wine waiter to advise on wines. Disappointing experience for expensive 5 star restaurant. Sadly, we will not return
A. V.
One of best steaks I've eaten in my life!

Best steak restaurant in London.
Have dined in all of the main branded steak restaurants in London including Goodmans, Hawkmoor, Cut 34 and Gaucho. This restaurant is by far the best. The USDA steaks are expensive but always consistently cooked as you ask. We now come here on every London visit and it is by far our favourite restaurant. Service is very good. Not too fussy. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit for steak lovers but does have other non steak dishes on the menu. First Class!
P. D.
The food is divine, the wine list is extensive and wines great and the service is excellent.
D. L.
Me and my daughter went Saturday evening .
All I can say is an amazing experience . Food, cocktails and Alberto give us the best ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ service we have already booked our next visit
K. W.
I guess it was ok 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ but given the price tag I really wasn’t blown away.
£85 Australian steak that wasn’t given the care and attention a piece it required. Usually this meat is succulent and full of flavour, but I’ve definitely had a better steak from an Australian supermarket butcher.
The worst part was definitely our waiter. He didn’t have a strong handle on the menu and couldn’t answer basic questions like what the seasonal vegetables were.
Further he was significantly unhelpful with their extensive wine list. I understand it may not be everyone’s strength, but I do expect that when a direct question is asked (i.e what is the tasting profile of these two Rieslings, which is more sweet or dry) that they would seek to find out. Instead the waiter said “what do you normally drink? Oh NZ wine is your usual? Then just pick the NZ one”. 🙄🙄
Also as mentioned by others, service is quite slow and getting attention for additional drinks is quite the mission. Overall, I was underwhelmed.

Went to smith and Wollensky for our wedding anniversary, and I can say it’s was one of the best experiences. From the lady at the front desk admittedly knowing that we were an hour early she was kind enough to accommodate. Sitting as at one of the best seat in the room. We were politely greeted by the whom I think was the manager (Richard) and he apologised for keeping us waiting (personally I didn’t even think we were kept waiting for that long). He realised it was our wedding anniversary and kindly offered 2 free drinks. The whole experience was a memorable one my husband who came with expectation of what he wanted to eat (based on an image he’s seen) soon to realise it wasn’t a combination on the menu (however both Richard and Roberto went the extra mile to find a suitable one to meet his expectation. As busy as it was all staff made sure everyone was attended to however big or small the crowd was.
It was all hands on deck from where we were sitting... 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
C. C.
On the pricey side but really really good meat. Shake it was slightly overcooked. The cake isn't bad either...
T. (.
American style restaurant. Sirloin, rib eye and fillet steaks are the main speciality. Good selection of wine and beer. Ok selection of cocktails. Medium range prices for London. Clean in general and very casual between 1400-1630 hrs during the week
F. A.
Poor service. We were a party of 18 and were seated at two tables. Each course for the second table was delivered after table one had already finished that course. And order for two soft drinks took over an hour to be delivered.
V. V. W.
Just everything about this place is impressive. Quality of food is good and cooked beautifully. Service was brilliant and waiters were very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Place is just mesmerising. I don't want to give away too much to take that magical feeling away. It can turn out to be very busy so do have make a reservation because you don't want to be disappointed. I highly recommend this place. It's not cheap but definitely worth every penny. Complete the journey by travelling via river!
L. L.
Lovely meal, the steak was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. However the steak came alone and we had to purchase all our side orders as extras. Which made an expensive meal even more expensive.
A. P.
Having been to Smith & Wollensky in New York several times, I was looking forward to dinner at the London venue on Adam Street off Charring Cross. The decor was a mixture of art deco and brasserie featuring two floors characterised by greens and dark woods. As expected the wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and friendly, providing us with suggestions and explanations on the menu. The feature of the menu is a choice between USDA beef, British Irish beef and seafood, ranging between 350 gram cuts to 800 gram cuts. The price of drinks and food is high compared to comparable steak houses. The Kansas City Sirloin was £62, the 395g Sirloin £48, a Vodka Martini £16. The atmosphere at Smith & Wollensky is electric and it is a major selling point. The meat was tasty and the whipped potatoes delicate, however the meat was not significantly better than other steak houses.
C. O.
Great food, great service and the cocktails wow. Lovely night.
M. H.
Bit pricey generally but we got a bookatable deal which was great! The steak was cooked to absolute perfection. Fries delicious & great knowledgeable bar staff. Lovely decor as well & off the tourist track
T. K.
The T bone was something else...
Also recommend their unforgettable Mac & cheese and my personal favourite, creamy spinach
S&W, I miss you. Pls hurry up and open.

We had a large group gathering. The food was excellent considering the number of attendees. The steak was cooked perfectly. The staff were very professional.
J. G.
I was pleasantly surprised by S & W. I had known them from NYC but did not even know they were in London. Great staff that was friendly and mixed us some great cocktails. The food was excellent as well.
W.
High end steak restaurant with great service. I went here for my birthday and without request or mentioning it was my birthday, the waiters served me a dessert and a birthday card, really sweet! The menu prices are on the high side but you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommend for special occasions

This is not just a restaurant it's a dining experience. I took 4 of my top clients here and these guys are very hard to impress, they eat out in the best restaurants all over the world. We were all highly impressed. Slick service, great vibe and decor and best of all, outstanding food. I cannot recommend this place enough and can't wait to come back!
J. G.
This place has totally fantastic food. Some of the best all round I have had in London. I could really get used to this kind of a place and eat here easily once a week.
F. B.
wow. So impressed. Amazing restaurant, beautiful decor. From the reservation made by Amanda, the cocktails, the wine list, the food...everything was perfect. Nothing but good thing to say about Smith & Wollensky. I will come back again and again. My new favourite place in London. Try the Chocolate cake for dessert, you will be surprised. Thanks a lot to every single person at Smith & Wollensky to make our dinner so perfect.
A. C.
I booked a private room for a group of around 20 people for our Christmas dinner, and they all loved the restaurant and the food. Our maitre, a Spanish lady (my apologies because I don't remember her name!) and her team delivered an outstanding service. We were very happy and we will definitely come back again!
J. W.
Perfect steak. Good, crispy chips. Excellent sides, particularly the truffle Mac n cheese. Delicious bottle of Malbec. Overall on the pricy side, but great service and a lovely ambience.
E. B.
I have been here with my husband on a few occasions, once for our engagement. The service is always phenomenal and the food is delicious. We are always well looked after and Richard made us feel welcome each time. We recommend Smith & Wollenksy to all of our friends!
S. C.
Expensive but delicious steak dinner. You will not leave disappointed
A. S.
Perfect food and service, steaks are super, oyster very fresh. Diplomatico (Venezuela rum) is one of the best. Every time I am in London I go there to enjoy my dinner
R. L.
The food and ambiance were good, as well as the service. But, the music was a bit too loud.
D. B.
Absolutely amazing! Could not recommend this place enough, I’ll certainly be back! Service was impeccable, thank you so much for a great family dinner.
G. E.
Fantastic cocktails in a charming bar. We were served by Ernest - who's actual job title is Chief Engineer of Cocktail and Cheer. Excellent bar food too: Try the juicy scallops which were caught off the isle of Mull. Also I loved the beef jerky which is hand made in-house and perfectly spiced. Shame it's populated mostly by middle-aged blokes who are there on expenses but never mind!
B. B.
Very professional service, nice and comfortable ambience (lots of leather, wood panelling and parquet flooring). For the price, the steak (in our case a 1.2kg porterhouse shared between 3) was underwhelming. Quite flavoursome but too dry and boring after a few mouthfuls. Star of the show was the truffled mac and cheese side. Fries poor. Puddings (a sherry trifle and a doughy sticky toffee pudding were well below average. Go to Hawksmoor instead!
J. H.
AMAZING steak. Best I've ever had. Gorgeous restaurant - very art deco. Beautiful service -nothing was too much trouble. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
N. C.
Great food, friendly service.
M. M.
Top-tier steak restaurant for the hungry and with a planned budget...
J. L.
It is a bit pricey but... Amazing atmosphere. Great service. Very welcoming and attentive.
Steak was amazing! Nice place if you want to go for a treat 😊
S. D.
Beautiful resturant on 2 levels we dinned downstairs. Lovely surroundings with also a bar . Food excellent, lot of it, staff very helpfull and got my dessert quickly so WE could get to the theatre on time . Very goòd for 2 people or large groups. Lots of space . Special mention to the lovely mens and ladies toilets. Large and very clean . Just off the Strand .Adams st .
A. Z.
I've visited here twice before Covid and it was absolutely delicious both times. Very generous portion sizes and great service!!
P. M. C.
Beautifully designed and finished venue, not far from the Strand and within easy walking distance of Charing Cross and Embankment stations. Friendly and attentive staff. Food was good and the steaks flavoursome. Well worth a visit.
A. G.
Awesome bar. Delicious steaks. Wonderful service
E. M.
Food was divine. Server was excellent and very friendly. We were a little afraid to go in, since all we packed for our over seas stay was casual clothes, but front wait person assured us we were fine. Go.
C. E.
Great food and service. A wonderful experience for my wife and I
D.
I went to this place thinking it would be just a regular old day, boy was i wrong! The hashbrowns where amazing, but the best of all were the chips and steak. I ordered the Dry Aged Bone In Ribeye, it had a magnificent taste, and with the chips it combined into a perfect meal. Thank you so much! it was the best meal i've ever had.
D. D.
Sirloin was good but the Irish fillet a lot better. Would be nice if they had a variety of supplier countries rather than just US and in one case Ireland. Service was excellent.
F. A.
Highly recommended. Expensive but still one of the best steaks in London. Try the C&G shrimp and tomahok steak. Our guys from Arabian Gulf
Don't miss it
T. T.
Very nice place to have a night cap. Kudos to our Portuguese bartender who helped us appease our desire to NOT do touristy stuff. He made some fabulous recommendations! The food was also very good.
G. B.
Just had a phenomenal meal at Smith & Wollensky. Steak was cooked perfectly, house prosecco as a starter was surprisingly great, Stags Leap Artemis is served by the glass, and whipped potatoes that remind you that potatoes can in fact be perfect. Will definitely return and looking forward to more amazing steak.
A. A.
This place made me so happy. Very good food. Order the USDA ribeye (but make sure you order sides too since they don't come with it). Although Russians and Eastern Europeans haven't learned the art of good customer service yet.
A. R.
Fabulous meal and service. Thank you
H. A.
I've travelled a fair amount and been to 5 of the Smith and Wollensky's so far, the London service is impeccable. If you want an experience then Miami is a definitete. I cannot fault the service of Adam, Lewis, Antonio and Costas in London, they really are amazing and their customer service is insane. Take note Smith and Wollensky, you have wonderful employees.
f.
This is a good steakhouse. A little bit more posh than say Hawksmoor, staff all in uniform suitable for the theme. My preference is still Hawksmoor but S&W is miles better than Gaucho.
A. A.
Amazing decoration, reception, ambience and certainly steaks. Highly recommended place but keep in mind that you’ll pay around £100 per person. Make sure you try their cheesecake.
E. B.
Very smart and tasted great but there was far too much oil on my plate and the side of vegetables were really buttery. Fine but for the price would have expected better.
S. K.
Brilliant quality, NY headquarters would be proud
G. B.
Smith & Wollensky cooks exceptionally good steaks in a beautiful restaurant with great service and a good wine list.
Smith & Wollensky off The Strand, just a short walk from Charing Cross station, is a stunning new steak restaurant, opened in 2015. It feels like a grand, classy place with big windows and a few mirrors which probably make it look bigger than it actually is.
The music is nice and contributes to the good atmosphere at Smith & Wollensky.
Service was excellent from the second I walked in. My waiter was great and I had a fiendly and interersting little conversation about wine and London restaurants with the sommelier from Portugal.
I started the evening with a delicious Austrian Grüner Veltliner from 2013 produced by winemaker Ebner-Ebenauer. I think this was probably my favourite wine of the entire evening.
After the Grüner Veltliner, I ordered a 2014 Picpoul de Pinet, Château de Pinet La Comtesse, from Languedoc in France. It was a good, smooth wine, but it did not have the interesting, lemony edginess and high acidity of the Grüner Veltliner.
When talking about the different wines, I also got a taster of the 2014 "Southern Right" Sauvignon Blanc from Walker bay in South Africa. I thought it was nothing special, really.
My final white wine was an American Risling, a 2013 Grace Lane from Yakima Valley in Washington State. A decent wine with the typical mineral notes and oily feel that makes a great Riesling. Unfortunately, it was a bit too sweet for me, maybe a bit like German Spätlese wines.
Of course, I could not drink all those wines without any food. So I started with some bread. It was not outstanding, but a good start.
I came with the idea to try their USDA steaks. But because the USDA cuts were only quite big portions, I settled instead for a Scottish beef fillet "au poivre". In short, that steak was a dream. The pepper crust added a beautiful spiciness that actually enhanced the flavour of the meat. The steak was medium-rare, perfectly pink, with a slightly buttery texture, it melted in the mouth. Truly, one of the beat steaks you can get in London.
The peppercorn sauce was also full of flavour. Often I am a bit disappointed when I cannot find peppercorns in the sauce, this time I was happy with the taste despite the notable absence of peppercorns.
As side, I had selected "thrice cooked chips". Besides the somewhat stupid name, they were very crunchy and absolutely delicious. More thin fries than thick-cut chips, these were just exactly how I want chips to be. I can imagine that some people might even fine them too crispy.
As usual, I had most of the sauce with the chips, not the steak. And the peppercorn sauce went beautifully with the chips. I also tried the ketchup, which was alright. The mayo looked fresh and tasted great as well.
For dessert I had the apple tart. On the menu, it sounded like a tasty dish. The puff pastry was a solid foundation and it came together nicely with the juicy apple. The vanilla ice cream was a good addition, but I would not have needed the salted caramel sauce at all. In fact, I think the dish would be better altogether without the salted caramel sauce. That aside, the pastry and the apple made a brilliant dessert.
When I was about to wrap up my dinner, a friend decided spontaneously to meet me at the restaurant, so I ordered a cheese board and started looking at the red wines.
The sommelier recommended a kind of strong, somewhat fruity and tasty Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend, the Viñas del Vero from Somontano in Spain. Then we moved on to a lighter red, the 2013 Pinot Noir Monterey Wine Co. Poppy frim Monterey in California. Another good recommendation by the sommelier.
Altogether, I had a really good evening at Smith & Wollensky. The food was top-notch, the service was brilliant and I had an interesting conversation with the staff.
A. S.
Amazing service. Best steak I have had for a long time . Thankyou for a great Birthday meal
P. B.
Best steak in the West End! Extremely high quality service, fantastic wine menu and incredible ambience. Will definitely go again.
M. W.
Steak was good and food was OK but service was not great. Took a long time to get served and then poured water in my wine glass and brought out the wrong wine.
S. B.
Want some quality steak? Go here! Best steak I've ever had, staff is friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere, would recommend to any of my friends.
A. G.
Great meal. On the set menu with a few extras.
S. M.
The service was amazing. Very friendly staff & manager.
D. M.
A classic steakhouse chain. Sevice was very good and the steaks near perfection. The dry ages Tomahawk steak was very good, and the truffled Mac and Cheese a solid side dish. The creamed Spinich is one of my personal favorites.
A. W.
A gorgeous restaurant with amazing service and very good food. Private functions are often held downstairs with a great atmosphere too. It's in a great location just off Charing Cross and near Embankment. It's a more pricey affair but worth the extra for a smart meal.
J. G.
Fabulous food, service and venue 😁 thank you x

First visit here. The waitress was very attentive & friendly. Made the whole event a joyful experience. Definately would recommend a visit here after Lockdown.

Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly and attentive staff with helpful and honest menu suggestions. Wasn't at all busy on the Sunday we went, which meant we were well looked after but that it lacked a certain atmosphere.
M. H.
Steaks were incredible but will definitely put a hole in your bank account! Decor is beautiful also. Impressed at how perfectly cooked the Steaks were considering we were a group of 8.
B. H.
Perfectly cooked sirloin, unlimited chips and a cocktail - great value with a Travelzoo voucher. Impeccable service and lovely atmosphere.
S. M.
Awesome steaks and lobster! Easy to make reservations on short notice, very friendly staff, great wine.
Would be even better if they would open for dinner on Sundays

Great steak! Truffled mac and cheese done properly. Gigantic chocolate cake a must have. Everyone should go there again and again. Easy 10 star but McQueens is better.
A. B.
Fancy place with wide range of food and drinks. Spent several hours there first enjoying the nearly-perfect stakes and then checking various beers with the company of colleagues. A bit expensive though.

American style restaurant. Sirloin, rib eye and fillet steaks are the main speciality. Good selection of wine and beer. Ok selection of cocktails. Medium range prices for London. Clean in general and very casual between 1400-1630 hrs during the week
J. E.
Stunning deco, outstanding service and steak like you have never had before.

WOW!! Decided to visit Smith and Wollensky (London) after a visit to the New York branch. Amazing Steak/Food, impeccable service and great surroundings. I will be returning a.s.a.p. and would highly recommend.
G. N.
Attentive staff, delicious vegan options
P. S.
First impression inside good interior decor and service too fast between courses you get the feeling they want the table for the next customer ,this place caters for first class steaks ,if you have the Christmas menu beware you might find some Turkey on your plate or if you have lamb it's over cooked, but the first course was salmon and was delicious also the xmas pudding was excellent ,you are entitled to tea on the menu but you will be charged, we would go again for steaks but not a festive dinner.
S.
We attended a Wedding there on Monday 25th November 2018, the food was fantastic, the staff on that night were very attentive and very professional too, they did themselves and the Restaurant proud, Thank you for a fantastic experience.

J. A.
Great celebration meal after Marathon. Even kept kitchen open for our runner. Very impressed. Really nice place to eat.
J. C.
Lots of fancy steaks at sky high prices. A bit old school and stiff in style. You can get a lot more for your money elsewhere - I wouldn't go back. Try Rules instead.
P. S.
Lovely big restaurant, nice friendly staff. The food was fresh and delicious.
J. M.
Great atmosphere here. Friendly staff. The steak was cooked to perfection
G. G.
Services are top levels, one of the best beef restaurant in UK. Not very expensive.
L. V.
Dinner before a show was an excellent idea. However, tonight felt like I as at a pub with all the noisy women cackling. Never serve women liquor. They get crazy.
C. T.
Best steak in London topped with true American style service. Always my top recommendation for anyone wanting a quality dining experience.
J. G.
A great place to get an amazing steak and a classic martini!
n. b.
Nice relaxed, good food, could be a fraction hotter for longer
G. H.
A very large posh bar and restaurant. I think as big as Hawksmoor Guildhall. Good staff who are friendly and make for a good atmosphere but the bar prices are heavy!
G. W.
Very attentive staff, fantastic steaks! Worth the money for a nice meal out. Highly recommend!
C. H.
Lovely old school restaurant. We got the theatre menu which was good - always a few extras with it but the service was great.
M. B.
Perfect evening! Went as a couple to celebrate birthday.
Seafood fresh tasting and steaks cooked to perfection!
Z. P.
One of the "go to" steak places in London.
The star of the menu is the Indian Wells CabSav.
It has to be done.
Has to be.
C. B.
It's ok, nothing special for the price, food reasonable but not exceptional. Service on the other hand was very good.
M. J. C.
It was perfect. Staff was very friendly and professional. The dining area looked good and the food was delicious.
O. B.
Great food great ambience!
J. R.
Incredibly attentive staff, a special meal deal, and a really strong and very tasty cocktail. What's not to like? Coming back soon.
A. S.
One of the best steaks ive had in London so far. The service was brilliant. You must try this resturant.
J. H.
Food was good but I suspect the meal deal we were on meant the service staff weren't very attentive. Not very good really.
G. C.
Love this place. Excellent service except our table wasn't ready because they hadn't been able to reach me to confirm my reservation. They called the wrong number.
R. O.
Great staff, great food. Flawless steaks for my wife and I, along with wonderful starters and desserts.
M. S.
Tremendous setting! Highly recommended 👌
T. J.
This place was great! The service was great, the food didn't take too long to come out, and it tasted great as well!

S. W.
Great place to go. Food (ribeye steak) was delicious, service was efficient and friendly, beer good and atmosphere was relaxed.
M. J.
WOW, definitely the best steak in London. If you are going for atmosphere then probably try STK but if you are going for meat this place is the best in town.
A. M.
Pretty average food definitely not value for money... Many better restaurants for same or less money. Service was good.... But wouldn't want to eat there again...
E. H.
Had a great time, good quality food and excellent service, the waiter made you feel as if he tailored the experience just for you
P.
This is the place to have a steak in London, great service, bit pricey, but worth the special meal
A.
Fantastic atmosphere with great food. Price is quite expensive so for a special occasion like me its worth a treat for meatlovers,.
L. H.
Superb service and very good steak. But somewhat pricy and feels a little overhyped.
G. H.
Great steaks and service but expensive. Nice decor and busy but somehow the ambience was not classy.
K. S.
Amazing food, impeccable service. The pea soup is one of the best soups I've ever had, we will definitely return.

A brief dinner after work. Lovely steak and the staff are really good. Saw the dry aged room. Thank you.

B. H.
Great venue, very friendly welcoming staff. The food was absolutely brilliant, I can't recommend it enough
W. S.
Our rib eye was a little cold and the service was not great. There are many better Steakhouses out there.
D. M.
Definitely one of the best steaks in London. On a par with Goodmans, better than Hawksmoor or Gaucho in my view!
C. O.
Had a great meal before going to theatre, it was delicious. Service excellent. Thank you.
C. H.
The offer they have was good deal. The waiter was nice and very accommodating. I would go back again when I am near the area.
m. a.
Good food and front of house staff were great. The food was a bit slow in coming out though.
S. W.
American steaks and wines are the focus at this high-end, white-tablecloth spot decked in mahogany.
D. L.
One of the best steaks I've ever had and brilliant service from our waiter.
r. d.
now this was a good restaurant, I really enjoyed the food here, great steak and great service, pricey as heck but for England it was pretty good...
N. S.
Great service and lovely food. Used a voucher which made the price more palatable.
N. M.
Good service, steak was good, but a lot of competition at this price and on that level I'd say average
S. L.
Staff was very sweet and welcoming. Steak and wine was delicious ❤
K. 1.

G. V.
Fantastic lunch special! Ceviche is on point and the steak is perfect.

G.
Best steaks in London by far. Very good service and Good selection of wines.
H. F.
Good food but not worth the wait (30+ minutes between ordering and getting our food)

j. g.

J. L.
Best steak I've ever had, great service. Potions not the most generous.
J. P.
The steak was even better than the picture! So good, highly recommend!
M. S.
Pretty quiet when we went. Decent food, excellent service, but pricey. Limited atmosphere when we went, hence the lower score.
M. K.
Fantastic venue and great cuts of meat! The staff were so lovely too!
