Reviews of Smoke & Salt

Amazing food at a great price. Six course tasting menu with drink pairing for £75 is good value for money. The food portions are perfect, no leftovers means no waste and you leave filling full. The flavours are creative and the food is fresh. They're changing to a Christmas menu in a couple of weeks so we'll be going back.
A. P.
Divided opinions - at our table of four, some loved the food and found the service lacking while others thought the service great but the food quite average.
Service - Our friends who arrived 5 minutes early (and didn't make the booking) were chased by the waitress multiple times when we were arriving. She had our booking time wrong (thinking we were 10 minutes late instead of 5 minutes early) and made the start of the dinner uncomfortable for our friends. Her reason for rushing them was that "latecomers confuse the chefs" which we found odd as there was no guarantee we would have chosen the Tasting Menu. Throughout the evening the waitress was also quite curt when explaining food and drinks - and service overall did not leave us with a good experience. It wasn't until we left that our friends told us that they were being told off for being late for our booking and I wish I knew so we could have cleared it at the start and shown proof of the booking time on email.
Food - Not for the faint hearted. The flavours on the Tasting Menu changed drastically with every dish. You start off with some lovely warm bread and special butter. Then move on to a Mediterranean dish, then a heavily curried dish, then a mild European smoked dish followed by a sorbet and mousse pudding. It was a wild ride - which I loved, but others in the group not so much. As avid Tasting Menu fans (we've had 4 in the last 3 weeks alone) this is the first place I've seen my partner not eat 2 out of 6 dishes.
Glad we managed to try this Tasting Menu, which was both fairly priced and generously portioned, but we would probably not rush to go back again.

Genuinely one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Tasting menu with optional wine pairing both incredible value (along the lines of the Dairy that used to reside in Clapham and was an old favourite before it closes, but even more inventive). Literally couldn't fault anything we had and the service was top quality to boot. Tricky to get in online but called up on a Saturday afternoon on the offchance and Remi kindly called back able to fit us in so worth trying this avenue if nothing available online. Can't recommend this place enough - we will be back soon!

Wanted to visit Smoke & Salt for some time and was not disappointed. 6 course sharing menu was excellent. Sunchokes with chorizo and salsa Verde was a real highlight. As was the Highland Wagyu beef with Wiltshire truffle. A well portioned seasonal menu brilliantly executed, and for the quality very well priced in my opinion.

Amazing food and great service. We had the six course tasting menu with wine pairing and enjoyed everything about it. Highly recommend.

Our first time dining experience at Smoke & Salt went extremely well and was beyond our expectations!
Smoke & Salt is a modern British fine dining place where we felt special and welcome.
We opted for the 6-course tasting menu. Although it is quite tricky to please us, being 2 meatatarians and 1 pescatarian, and two of us being very fussy about our food, the Smoke & Salt guys did it - they made us very happy, giving us first class service and an absolutely delicious selection of exceptional dishes. They accommodated our dietary requirements and advised us on the wine. They made my husband’s birthday celebration even happier by adding their special treat, which we weren’t expecting.
We couldn’t decide on one dish only which was the star of the night because they were all very, very tasty! The coffee was amazing to boot! The staff were very friendly! The location is good and it is nice that we have got a Michelin star restaurant in our area.
Thank you for the most delicious food, Smoke & Salt!
We shall definitely come again!

Where to begin! Everything and l do mean EVERYTHING was exemplary. From when we were greeted and seated by a smiling member of staff. To the simple yet stylish interior of this restaurant. The table plan and seating arrangements were clever. You never felt you were on top of each other and a clever use of dried wheat and beans in a glass pot separated our adjoining table to two other guests. Then the service was excellent with various staff being so attentive and explaining each dish as they came for our choice of sharing menu. I’d spoken to the owner previously on the phone regarding my booking and spoke to him in the restaurant and he was courteous, knowledgeable and funny. But lets talk about the dishes. So we had the 4 Course Sharing Menu. Homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter, grilled skewers of butterscotch Swede, Truffle Gougère, house charcuterie, Winter beetroot (amazing ) We got up graded from winter venison sausage to BBQ venison cabbage and quince! Then several cheeses with damson jam and rye bread. Finally a rich dessert of blood orange with a light meringue in a dark chocolate case. Each dish seemed small but was filling and in combination was a perfect amount ! No hesitation we would definitely come again

This was my best dining experience in London. I still can’t get over how good the 6 course set menu was. Both my partner and I agreed the bun and the dessert were the best we’ve ever had, but every other dish was also flawless. If you’re looking for something that can compete with Michelin starred restaurants, this is it.
R. C.
Excellent food and, unpretentious service at a very reasonable price - highly recommend.
I really enjoyed dinner here with my wife - 6 course tasting menu was interesting without going off the deep-end and every course brought something new.
There were a couple of dishes which I thought missed by a little (e.g. the clams in the tomato dish seemed a bit overwhelmed, or the pairing of the dessert wine which overloaded on sweetness) but there and there were enough great ones that the overall impression was excellent.
Cocktails were very nice, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable which is a great combo.
Will definitely come back
J. H.
First time visiting and It didn't disappoint. Tasting menu and win pairing was excellent. Very good value for money. Staff were fun and very friendly. Would definitely go again to try more of the menu.
A. B.
We tried the tasting menu and had a great time.
Good variety of different tastes. cocktails very really nice.
Nice touch that they remembered during a covid closing our reservation had to be cancelled and we they apologised again. Nothing big but shows attention to detail and care for customers.
We've also bought bread and pastries and these have been very good as well.
J. G.
Unbelievable good food. Worth the trek I made from crouch end. Definitely order all the snacks and main courses and share. Staff extra friendly and helpful. It's smallish so book. Style is canteen and this does create some sound issues. It was a great evening and I wish them all success. Jamie 🍍

Unique, exciting dishes and flavour combinations. I was a solo diner, but they sat me at the bar right next to the open kitchen and the staff were super friendly/ happy to chat, so it ended up being such a great night for me. Coming back on the 2nd, can't wait! :)

Well worth the advance booking. Every dish was tasty, well flavoured and absolutely divine. We had the bread and quail to start, the wok fried greens, desserts and spinach waffle. The waitress seemed to be in a rush always - I’d order and then she’d run off before my friend could order. While the service was good, we found ordering unnecessarily difficult.
A. v. P.
Been here twice so far and each time had a lovely time. I have never had an issue with the service. Each time it was really good. My husband has a chilli allergy which many restaurants struggle with but they have been able to guide us through what could be ordered very well each time.
The food here is good, tapas style dishes which is fun. First time we did tasting menu and second time we did a la carte. I think the first time when we added up costs of dishes of tasting menu we realized that it was not saving you much money. So the food is beautifully presented and well I find that the dishes were hit and miss. There were some great ones and some that were meh. Which is why I am giving this place 4*. Last night when we went the dish which we hoping was the star of the show the wagyu beef dish was our least favourite. We did let the waitress know what our issue with the dish was so hopefully in the future people who order it don't have a dish that falls short.
Turns out the star of the show were the grilled spring onions. The trout dish needed some lemon to make it sing. Luckily we had limes as garnish in our cocktail that we could use that helped elevate the dish.
The cocktails were also really good- worth trying if you go.
As I am local I will return on nights I feel like having a treat and I would recommend.
c.
Have had my eye on the place for a while so was great to get in for a brunch. The food was delicious, but unfortunately it felt like the service was a bit lacking! There was no check back, we asked for salt and pepper and had a nose turned up at our request saying the food was seasoned! Also we had two glasses that were cracked! The drinks were replaced, but after cutting my lip, maybe a good will gesture might have been nice, just small touches that would have shown genuine customer care! For the food alone, will definitely be back to try the evening menu though!
P. R.
Loved our meal here, got the tasting menu and I genuinely really enjoyed everything on it, which (for me) is unusual for tasting menus at small plates restaurants! Really nice service, quick and friendly but never intrusive. Really tasty cocktails too - we tried the negroni, screwdriver, and lime sour (they were jazzed up but I can't remember the proper names), and all delicious. Very reasonable price, it came to £50pp for the tasting menu, two cocktails each, and service. Will def go back when they move to Tooting.
M. C.
Amazing food. Best restaurant in the area. Make sure to splash out on the 6 course menu - you won't regret it!
D. L.
We've never been to this area for food before so weren't sure what to expect, certainly not what we found in any case. For anyone wondering, the restaurant is upstairs.
It's a very small place, we had a table quite close to the kitchen but the food that comes out of that kitchen is certainly big on flavour. We had the seasonal menu which is outstanding value if you're up for it.
There were some more unusual flavour combinations and ingredients but it all tasted wonderful (with minor exceptions - I'm not a big fan of bitter tastes, or pumpkin beer).
Each dish looked lovingly crafted and was a delight to eat and would certainly visit again.
C. P.
So much better than what it was in Brixton. The six course menu is out of this world, full of surprises. The service is super friendly. Highly recommend it!
E. M. L.
We had the tasting menu and the food was super delicious. The service was incredible. Everyone was super friendly. We had a very wonderful experience.
A. S.
A gourmet experience in zone 3.
Amazing food, profesional staff, great wine and excellent vegan options.
Not just the best restaurant in Tooting (easily) but one of the best in South London.
E. P.
One of the best meals I’ve had in Tooting, lovely 6 course tasting with matching wines. Very efficient, knowledgable and attentive service from all their team, though there was no hanging about afterwards as the next sitting was coming in! Hand sanitiser on every table and all staff in masks. They need to soften the “man cave” decor but would overall highly recommend to anyone in the area.
F. O. N.
Really enjoyed this place, best dessert I’ve ever had and the steak was delicious. They might want to turn up the heating as it felt a bit cold or drafty in the back section
N. M.
It has been a great place to eat. Although it may not the cheapest place to dinner, but the food really can match the modern British fine dinner dishes. Funky place to be as well.
J. T.
Fantastic food, excellent atmosphere and lovely service. If anyone could give me the asparagus recipe it would be much appreciated!
D. C.
Had an excellent meal, from a set menu of eight dishes, which were all pretty generous. All very interesting and tasty seasonal recipes. Very reasonably priced too for a tasting menu of this quality. By the end of the evening we were on first name terms with the chefs. We'll definitely be back.
B. S.
Good and interesting food, all small plates designed to be shared. And a smallish place so great for small groups too. The taster menu with wine pairing is plenty of both (6 dishes with 5 wines), we had a great time and enjoyed eating and drinking some different things
P. S.
Great food, service is a bit slow but that's happening most places given restrictions. I recommend sharing the tasting plates. Great wine.
D. R.
We have been here twice, and it has been absolutely exceptional both times. Every course has been absolutely delicious and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The menu completely changed in the 6 week gap between our visits, which meant that we got a different experience, and definitely encourages us to go again and again. The tasting menu is great value, and we have been to restaurants with a menu twice the price which weren’t nearly as good.
So proud to have this as our Tooting local!
M. H.
Great food and friendly environment, with great wine pairings. Reasonable pricing for London too. Well worth a visit down to Tooting for this restaurant.
H. H.
Overall very tasty and unexpected positive surprises. 4 stars because we think the wine is too expensive for the tiny glass you get
S. B.
It's brilliant. Food is innovative and surprising, portions are generous, and overall it's really great value.
n. s.
Great place for breakfast and they bake their own bread. A bit expensive but tasty and has a great atmosphere/staff
J. C.
Have enjoyed dinner with smoke and salt before on numerous occasions, haven’t been for brunch in the tooting branch before. I must say, what a success! Had hot smoked trout with grits and sweet and sour peppers, my partner had a savoury waffle with smoked feta and asparagus , both well executed and delicious (you can add a fried egg...we resisted). We were then persuaded (even though we were both stuffed!) to sample some of the lovely pastries they are now making! We even left with a loaf of delicious rye sourdough. Will be back!
D. F.
Tasting menu was amazing! Wine pairing was on point as well. Staff were wonderful and whilst not cheap it hardly broke the bank, would recommend to anyone!
S.
Can't recommend highly enough. We had the excellent tasting menu which was beautifully presented and full of unique flavour combinations that always seemed to work. Highlights were the roasted pumpkin and the pheasant on mushroom, but I couldn't fault any of the dishes.
Service was very friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive. For the standard of food you're getting this is very reasonably priced - a future Bib Gourmand.
K. N.
Finally had a chance to check this place out and it has truly been worth the wait. Food is absolutely spectacular and a really good value for money, simple ingredients yet very well executed and full of flavour. Service is attentive, kind and staff are super helpful. We had a tasting menu which we expected to be on a small side but we couldn't have been more wrong, even though the portions aren't huge, we ended up absolutely stuffed. It's great to go to a place where you can't find faults with anything. Well definitely be back for more. Highly recommended.
H. C.
Fantastic from start to finish. Unpretentious service, relaxed setting and incredible food. Each plate was a delight, packed with flavour, well prepared and beautifully presented. I wouldn't want to pick favourites, but it's hard not to mention the cure plate's duck terrine, the sourdough waffle with mushrooms and gouda custard, and the melt-in-the-mouth jolloff brisket. Oh and the clam toasts. We left smiling – and not just because of the wine and cocktails. Already excited to come back.
J. M.
Really delicious food, great value and good cocktails too!
D. E.
Amazing tasting menu with great customer service. And all very affordable!
E. B.
Exceptional and delicious food. We enjoyed the six-course menu. Very busy a testament to their popularity.
R. T.
It’s really good. Thoughtfully prepared, tasty dishes. The attention to detail in the food was excellent - everything cooked perfectly and great flavours. The smoked banana manhattan is one of the best drinks I’ve ever consumed.
W. L.
Absolutely incredible, Michelin-level food here, one of the best meals I’ve had in a long long time. The courgette and cured trout dishes were our two favourite, but everything was of fantastic quality
J. S.
Loved this place when it started in Brixton and love it even more now in Tooting. Thanks for a wonderful meal, Team S+S!
A. M.
Amazing food and service. The cheddar meatballs and new potatoes were amazing. Will definitely be back.
D. S.
Came here for my girlfriends birthday before heading to a gig at the Brixton academy. Awesome food, really nice atmosphere, thoroughly recommend it!
J. H.
Amazing meal. Great dishes, great service. Will be back
e. r.
This is my favourite restaurant in Brixton. I have a food crush on this place. I've been quite a few times, and it's consistently sensational. The food is always top quality and amazingly prepared by Remi and the other sorcerers in the kitchen. Had the new potatoes for the first time last week and I have been missing out this whole time! I recommend the following dishes: everything. Plus they always have reds on their wine list too and their staff always have a smile on their face.
P. M.
Everything we had was delicious and the staff were really lovely. Standout dish was the crispy potatoes with chimichurri and beef heart. Interesting wine list and great flavour combinations. Really rooting for this place to be a success in Tooting. We came during the soft launch but I would happily pay full price.
L. F.
Some of the best food I've ever had. The pheasant dish we had was out of this world, not usually one to order pheasant but it was on the tasting menu and it really blew me away. Waiters and table service were amazing. Drinks were lovely. Can't ask for much more. Cant wait to go back!
S. W.
Fantastic evening at Smoke and Salt. The taster menu was fab and we loved the wine pairings. Some of our wine pairings came out at the wrong time however so staff might need to look at how they time the food with the wine pairings to ensure that doesn't happen!
A. T.
Delicious dinner - we both had the seasonal sharing menu and each dish was perfect. Great variety on the menu & lovely wine too. Staff were friendly. Will look forward to going back!
J. K.
The best food in London hands down! We go there on our date nights, when friends come to visit and with parents. It never disappoints. We always go for vegan dishes, but our friends tried meat and also claimed it as top quality. Menu is small and updated periodically. Nice cocktails and wine selection. Great ambience, always helpful and knowledgeable staff.
K. K.
One of my favourite London restaurants - always so happy to return here and discover new dishes - we tend to basically order everything off the menu if dining with more than 2 people. Very cool setting in a container in Pop Brixton as well. Excellent service and value to money.
G. B.
Probably THE best eating experience I've had. The duck breast! Oh wait, the monkfish Kiev...I could go on. Went for the Feasting menu and me and the missus were blown away. We opted to match the wines as well. Sorry forgot to take pictures (too busy enjoying the food and drink). Planning on trying the next menu. THE DUCK BREAST!
V. R.
Excellent food, thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff are lovely and I'd definitely recommend.
J. M.
Nice staff, liked the decor, hot chocolate was nice (vegan) & a pleasant experience.
S. E.
A truly delicious evening! My husband and I took his parents here for dinner last week and we ordered every item on the menu. Some of our favourites included the lamb with strawberries (never thought they would go together but they totally do... and it’s insanely tasty), the barbecued monkfish and the pig cheek. I also have to mention the moreish new potatoes that I could not stop eating.
The staff were incredibly attentive. I am heavily pregnant and they made sure that I was comfortable and aware of any ingredients that might not be suitable and how they can adapt it so I can try pretty much everything. The host also helped pair a fantastic wine with the meal that my family enjoyed!
Overall a lovely evening with delicious food and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back here soon!
C. B.
Delicious and interesting food - the trout was knockout - warm and welcoming waiting staff with great wine recommendations. Can't really fault anything, easily 5*
S. d. l. C.
Great experience!! I loved the set menu and not having to decide anything :) and I love that it changes continually, as I can go back in the future and be surprised again. All the courses were tasty and cooked very well. Strangely enough, I think my favourite were the Brussels sprouts!! The space is small and cozy, I thought it would feel more claustrophobic, but it didn't, although it got quite noisy as soon as it was full. I recommend reserving in advance.
My only 2 details to improve would be, given the name, that the menu featured a smoked main dish and that they added a craft smoked beer to the drink list.
A. B.
Intimate setting, excellent decor and ambiance. Food is curated to perfection with excellent variety and taste. Perfect for date night
E. W.
This place came recommended and we went last night with some dear friends last night - it did nothing but impress. From the outset the experience was positive, the enthusiastic waitress went out of her way to get us the best seat in the house. The beer 40FT brewed in Dalston, is delicious. The menu was simple but as the food started to arrive you started to get a feel to the thought that had gone into the various elements of each dish. Truly amazing, the team just spoilt us, an off the charts evening in a very cool place, full of people all there for the right reason. Thank you.
W. S.
We had an amazing evening here following your recent move to Tooting. After enjoying your original pop up near Angel and then subsequently in Brixton I'm really pleased to have you down in our neck of the woods! Really enjoyed the 6 plate taster menu and very accomodating to any dietary requirements. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Really loved both the hake (melted in the mouth) and the pheasant whilst the torte was a delicious way to end the evening :-)
Thanks will be back again soon!
Also Remi was a brilliant host and took good care of us too!
R. J.
Second visit to the restaurant.
They have a new Christmas menu that was fantastic.
Although unsure if they could amend the menu for a vegetarian, they had multiple options to adapt the menu, vegan, veggie, pescatarian.
I really love this place, we will be returning again.
L. H.
Great small plates and the cocktails were great too. Portions are small so we ordered 2 dishes per person- the trout was lovely and the pork steak was delicious too. I'm not a fan of the place itself, not the nicest place to sit in( maybe cause it was lunch , might be better in the evening)
a. k.
Always amazing, friendly and menus are always well thought out. My local
A. P.
Probably one of the best restaurants in South London, you have to eat here. I've been a few times and was so impressed I recently privately hired the whole place for my friend's hen do.
It was absolutely AMAZING - we had superb attentive service and plentiful excellent food. Alex really is a class act with customer service and went out of his way to help me make it the best experience - putting up decorations and working around our timings, budgetary constraints and dietary restrictions.
F. K.
Good modern british food, great vibe, solid cooking.
F. H.
Excellent food and service! Really lovely staff; they gave us some extra pretzel bread at our request at the end of the meal (it’s so good!). Slightly expensive sharing plates but a good local community to support!
B. B.
Absolutely blown away by the experience here and incredible value for money. Could easily see these young chefs moving to the more prestigious surroundings soon as their food is creative, easily understood and full of wonderful flavour. Add to that the superb, personable service and it's a dining experience that will be hard to beat anywhere in the city.
N. R.
Friendly and attentive service and an outstanding Christmas tasting menu. Will definitely be back in the new year
H. S.
Hands down one of the best restaurants in London. Food was amazing, service was incredible and vibe in there is great. Owners that know the food just makes such a big difference and to top it off, they're raising awareness for a local charity in Brixton - 11/10 overall! We'll be coming back for sure!
A. B.
Great food, cocktails and wine. The dessert with mashed potatoes is absolutely amazing. Definitely I will be back.
T. d. J.
We had a great night at Smoke & Salt. If possible we would rate 4.5. The food was marvelous and service from staff extraordinary. We were sitting outside and they were very attentive. When the temperature became more chilly they moved us inside. We very much liked the 7 course menu with the cod, asparagus, chicken and rhubarb desert. So far definitely the best place we have had diner in London. Only minor points: food and staff in our opinion too good for the location, playlist could ditch the metal rock music. Remi and team, thanks for the great night! Will definitely visit again.
L. d. L.
I picked this restaurant purely based on the rating, since 4.7 in london is very rare.
I found the price point was absolutely reasonable when i got there and the host was friendly.
I could see that they tried to mix textures and try few unusual ingredients.
However, I guess i was expecting little more on the flavors.
Made me wonder what if they had a bit more pricier tasting menu with more quality dishes.
Smoke & salt had a lot of smoke and salt , it was a bit too much that our eyes were sore on the way out.
The host had a great attitude to listen to the clients opinion. Hope he find this constructive and I wish all the best for the team.
J. F.
I loved the taste of most of the small plates especially the pumpkin soup. The flavours were exciting, The brussels were yummy as was the mackerel on sour dough, I loved the potatoes and my companion had the beef which he thoughtfully enjoyed. Thanks chefs and staff
M. A.
An amazing small business, proving that you don't need fancy premises to offer an excellent dining experience.
The tasting menu is a great spread of food, always left feeling nicely full.
The front of house staff are really friendly and helpful.
I. W.
Wow. What an experience. Stop reading and book now.
I had the tasting menu: a pretty amazing six dishes for 27pounds. They could charge 40 and this would be great value.
i don't do many Google reviews. I dont have online accounts. I have just come back from a meal (and four wines...) and logged in specially to write this. Its that good.
Remi was the chef on this evening. I'm not going to wreck the surprise but they just know food and flavour and four out of six dishes were super memorable smash hits. That rarely happens. Plus they have a very reasonably priced well matched choice of wines. Plus they have lovely easygoing, attentive and fun service staff. Come here and experience happiness.
For context, i love to travel for food and hate coming to London: over priced and over cooked quite often. This one evening didnt just have me changing my mind, it had me wishing i lived in Brixton instead of Sydney, where we have things like sunlight and beaches. There's your endorsement.
C. A.
Welcome to the Pop Brixton family, Smoke & Salt.
I was impressed by the friendly staff and quality of the food. I feel that the settings along the raised worktop/bar are too close to each other for two people to dine comfortably with strangers on both sides.
Expanding the wine list beyond only two red and two white options would be my recommendation.
I felt that £12 for the grilled octopus dish was poor value for money and I would suggest the owners looked into their pricing.
G.
Food was excellent. First time having beef heart, very tender and nice rich iron taste like you get from offal with potatoes that tasted amazing and chimmichurri. Mussel dish was very nice like nothing I’ve had before. Will definitely be going back nice creative and different dishes with alternative ingredients. £82 for a full two person taster and bottle of red you cannot go wrong here.
D. S.
How can a plate of tomatoes possibly taste so good? From this superb start things just got better and better with delightful twists and surprises throughout the meal. Tender strips of beef heart with the crispy new potatoes, creamy courgette babaganoush and if I'm not mistaken some kind of puréed corn custard underpinning the dessert. It was a busy old night in the open kitchen but the chef found time to come to our table three times to check we were enjoying ourselves and explain a little about what he'd cooked up for our delectation. Lovely serving staff too. Top notch.
J. G.
Quite a intimate setting, so be prepared to get cosy with your companions and don't bring any heavy luggage!
The food is exceptional! Particularly the vegetables. Seasonal British ingredients cooked to perfection with plenty of tasty surprises. I've been three times and have revised my rating from 4 to 5*s.
C. C. W.
Amazing food and service, great addition to the area.
B. M.
Incredible eating. My goodness, what godly gifts keeps coming out of this matchbox kitchen (upteenth visit). Service was understated and perfectly suited to the close quarters. They are moving soon to tooting and i highly recommend following the trail of breadcrumbs they leave behind.
M. K.
This is now one of my favourite places to eat in London! Both chefs, Remi and Aaron, are clearly very passionate about food and this has definitely come through as they provided some of the best dishes I have ever tasted. Honestly, everything worked perfect - the textures, the tastes, the whole flow of the menu.
These two are clearly on a path to achieve something great in the culinary world.
Thanks for a wonderful evening and would recommend to anyone on a date/party/whatever. 10/10.
T. S.
I very much enjoyed the seasonal menu in this quirky container-turned-restaurant. Creative and tasty food. Friendly service, good 80s playlist. It's a pity they are planning to relocate. A fantastic addition to high quality food in Brixton.
C. H.
Had a wonderful meal here last night for our anniversary. Absolutely loved the food and the chefs were so friendly! Really well thought through menu and the "table snacks" were delicious. A must-try for any foodie!

We had an absolutely exceptional evening here. The food was incredible, the service sooo friendly and informative and the atmosphere great fun. We would truly recommend it to anyone. Do come! We wish you guys the very best for your next stage. 10-10

Amazing meal and such friendly service as well as great value for money. The tomato and smoked ricotta dish as well as the smoked honey butter with the sourdough we’re particularly delicious but it was really good. Thoroughly recommend!

Unfortunately my friend and I got food poisoning. The menu was very good but they got sloppy with not fully cooking a meat dish. I’m pretty sure part of the poultry dish was raw when it was served.. the evening the day after definitely confirmed this :( real shame because all the other dishes were tasty!

Great food, lovely service, reasonably priced
A. S.
The tasting menu is amazing and putsore expensive restaurants to shame. Go now before they get their first star!
P. J.
Phenomenal chef's who truly care about what they do. British seasonality meets old cooking techniques, mixed with talent and flair. I can't recommend these two enough. I can see amazing future for Aaron and Remy.

Worth the wait. Food and wine pairing was brilliant, however the service was excellent and heightened the experience experience. Will be back!

One of the best meal I had this year! I am a real foodie (an have conditioned my husband to the same) and we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Smoke & Salt. Every dish was full of flavour: The sweet yeast butter that comes with the sourdough bread, the brilliantly seasoned dressing of the tomato & smoked ricotta salad (how good can a tomato salad be, right? well, amazing is the answer!), the aromatic merguez tartar with harissa or the unbelievably tender chicken leg in truffle ponzu (our favourite of the night!). This is top restaurant cooking without the massive price tag. Granted, some dishes might seem a bit on the pricey side in isolation but portions are very generous and well worth the price for the quality of food and abundance of flavour you get. Between two people we had eight dishes incl. dessert and the food part of the bill came to about £50. Would absolutely recommend it! For fans of: 10 Greek Street, 8 Hoxton Square, Naughty Piglets, The Manor, The Dairy, Rok Smokehouse.

Amazing value set menu, hugely knowledgeable and friendly service, great atmosphere. Most importantly the food, cocktails and wine were all stunning, looking forward to going back for next season's menu!
S. M.
When you eat in a shipping container you hope you’ll get value for money and this place delivers! Fantastic friendly, professional service matched with amazing food. They prepared a vegan tasting menu for me on spec. Hope you guys expand east!!

So good! Food was amazing! Had the tasting menu.
Everything was perfect from the cosy setting to the time between courses. And to top it off the waiters were absolutely wonderful!

Just had brunch at Smoke & Salt earlier today (having already tried their incredible 4+ course dinner menu a few weeks ago) with a couple of mates and i think I'm having withdrawal symptoms from the delightful wagyu beef main! It was cooked perfectly, literally melting in your mouth and i thought the combination of sourdough bread and the coddled egg, which you get to crack onto your plate yourself, was a novel addition to the eating experience. Great location (outdoor terrace, that is perfect for summer), great food. I'd give this 6 stars if i could!
C. W.
Really interesting food - particularly recommend the lamb & beetroot and the strawberry & chocolate. And very knowledgeable, friendly staff.
D. E.
Amazing to be back at this incredible spot. Great food, sublime in fact. Super service and very friendly staff and owners. So happy this gem is back and closer to me now they are in trendy Tooting. Will 100% be back!
J. A.
A very cool place to eat on the terrace at pop Brixton. Prices were very reasonable and every dish (we ate every dish) was special in it’s own right. I will be taking my friends and even my family back soon! Service was also very attentive! An absolute diamond.

The best coffee in London! Great atmosphere, good food and excellent staff, highly recommended!

Great tasting menu. We've been twice now and the service was brilliant both times, really exciting and experimental food by lovely people. Value for money is excellent.
D. F.
Great place with simple but highly inventive cooking. We had the set menu with small portions of the main dishes and everything was utterly delicious. Highly recommended
J. I.
Had a great meal here, delicious small plates with honest, authentic cooking and friendly, attentive service. I’ve been back twice since and every time it’s been a combination of great flavours and textures in a great atmosphere.

Cozy place, serviable staff, good Atmospher.

They automatically add a donation to the bill and then add service on that donation, which is wrong. They shouldn't charge service on a (discretionary) donation. It might only be a few pence but it shows the lengths some places will go to to charge customers more. Adding a donation in the first place is not good practise, it can't be gift aided (the charity loses out) and I can't get HR income tax back (I lose out) - noone wins. This would have been 4 stars but i can't stand this unfortunate practise of adding service charges to donations.
Aside from that the food is mostly good (and certainly very reasonably priced), Jerusalem artichoke and trout very tasty - the carrot side needs a bit of work however as does the desert. Wine selection very small but good value too. it's not the most comfortable setting however it's priced accordingly.

Heard that these two guys used be chefs at The Shed in Notting hill so had to go and check it out. The treck to North London was entirely worth it, we were treated to one of the most delicious and different meals I have ever had. Starting off with the homemade pretzels with treacle butter, before moving on to celeriac and hen egg topped with a generous topping of Wiltshire truffle. My favorite part of the whole meal was the Rabbit and Rye delight we had. Absolute winner! Well done guys!!
S. G.
Great Sunday brunch experience for anyone looking for something a bit nicer than the norm. The chef came over to describe each plate and the cocktails were sublime. A must try.
E. R.
Delicious tasting menu that is a selection of their plates that you share, so worth adding an extra dish as we did with the tartare which was very tasty. Great cocktails too
A. P.
We had the most amazing dining experience. The atmosphere inside is really intimate, cute and cozy. The food is delicious and creative.

So glad to see the team in their new place. Food is as excellent as ever with a bigger menu (and bigger restaurant!). Can't wait to go again!
J. T.
The fried potatoes and lamb porchetta were amazing. Service was very attentive too. This restaurant will go far. Best of luck with the new place!

Delicious, inventive cooking at a great price. Been before to the Brixton location, but even better in Tooting.
K. S.
Outstanding meal last night. Dishes were inventive, exciting, and bloody delicious. I love the changing seasonal menu.
M. S.
Being in a shipping container really pushes the boundary of what constitutes intimate versus merely cramped. Yet the food and service were exemplary. Would definitely go again.
R. S.
You can't get a better take on small plates than at Smoke & Salt. Everything on the menu is worth a try at least once and the staff are super friendly.

Incredible food in a lovely, relaxed setting, delivered by a friendly team - one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Still dreaming of the pretzel bread…

(Translated) Tastefully decorated restaurant, very friendly staff with good advice on the choice of menu. Very tasty food in many small portions. There is also a 6-course menu with accompanying wine that saves you from being spoiled for choice. Reservation necessary, otherwise there is hardly a place to be found. We would love to come back.
(Original)
Geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Restaurant, sehr freundliches Personal mit guten Ratschlägen zur Menüwahl. Sehr leckeres Essen in vielen kleinen Portionen. Es gibt auch ein 6 Gänge Menü mit Weinbegleitung das einem die Qual der Wahl erspart. Reservierung notwendig, sonst ist kaum ein Platz zu bekommen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

(Translated) They are fast, educated and everything is super clean. A worker awaits you at the door that gives you a menu, you ask and they give you the device that sounds and vibrates when they have your food ready, so you can wait sitting at your table, that if there are always many people, the burgers I liked Pretty, and it's not expensive !!! In a week I was there I ate a couple of times! I recommend it if you want to eat something fast and spend a lot!
(Original)

(Translated) Really one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Balanced and the timing is perfect. Really recommended! The atmosphere and the experience is wonderful. Be surprised because there is a choice of one 5-course menu for a very fair price. All chefs come by to see how things are going and a chat is easily made. Very nice, tasty and honest. Start on time because you will sit for a while. Just do it!
(Original)
Gewoon doen!
