Reviews of Soif

Such a lovely dining experience!
Soif has such a long and good list of wines🍷!! Tried two of them (in picture) both were SO good 😋
Their dinner menu was also really good. Ordered pumpkin, artichoke, duck as a starter (can’t really remember their names😅) and fish as a main. Each and every menu was so tasty and rich in flavour🥰
Highly recommend this place👍🏼 such a lovely service as well 🤗
P.
Great experience at Soif. And the name goes well with the experience you get as the knowledgeable staff will recommend you the perfect wine. We tried the natural wine in the pic underneath and it was amazing. Also you can decide to share plates and the famous rotisserie chicken. I will recommend though to share a few plates. The artichoke thé tartare and the fish were amazing!
Will go again

Loved everything about this place - food was amazing, wine list was great and lots of biodynamic options. Can’t wait to go back.
M. J.
Every time I’ve eaten at Soif it has been an EXCELLENT experience. It is a cozy little place that never fails to impress. The chef is brilliant, the food is divine, and the organic wine selection is always interesting and delicious! I really enjoyed the duck rillettes and the halibut main this time around. Cannot wait to return again soon!
A. B.
Had a works dinner their last night, what a great local neighbourhood restaurant…the food, wine and service were all 100%
M. W.
Didn't book but they found a table. Very good French food and excellent service. The charcuterie was superb. Nice wine choice too.
D. E.
It's been 8 years since our last visit. The food a service is as good as we remember. A great little French restaurant.

Absolutely delightful. Amazing menu, fantastic service, fabulous wine. A real gem. Ask the wait staff for their recommendations - they were great.

Food was really nice with niche french dishes as well as the best wine selection you could think of. If you want a glass of something, it's here.

Popped in for my birthday dinner one Sunday night. Loved the ambience and service! Lovely wine selection, really good choice of music in the background. Had plenty of small plates, every single one was so so so enjoyable! Appreciate veggie options for starters as we as for mains, very nice touch when it comes to the dessert! Thank you Arturo for looking after us!
C. d. M.
We had lunch here on a Saturday and it was fantastic! Service is fun and friendly, wine options endless and the food way impeccable. I had a wonderful pork chop w chard that was moist and delish and wifey had a great bevette with the best peppercorn sauce we’ve tasted. The sourdough and butter is a must too!
L.
Foodwise, very nice starters, fresh and good quality. But the main dish really surprised me, not in a good way.
R. C.
Beautiful quiet restaurant in Battersea. Stopped by with a large group of friends and had an a m a z i n g night out. Every single dish in starters was breathtaking, good ambience, veggie dishes were much satysfying, not like other places in the area that just scrapes leftovers into a "vegetarian dish". Very pleasant service, we were looked after by Arturo who had an amazing wine knowledge as well as he was able to pair our food with perfect vino!
Willing to travel London for a genuine restaurant like that, any day!
L. L.
This is a little gem in Clapham. Really delicious variety of wines, which was the highlight for me. The interior design really suits my taste as well- the place exudes a casual chic vibe and is very cosy. Well worth it.
A. B.
An absolutely wonderful wine bar/brasserie in the heart of Battersea! Superb selection of wines; slightly smaller choice of food, but all of it fantastic. I would be interested to return to sample more! The service was also incredibly friendly. Thanks for a lovely evening, Soif!

Its sometimes funny to call out the bad reviews of places as well as giving a review yourself.
1) 2 stars because they accidentally brought you beef tartare and not only did you just eat it anyway but then to complain it spoilt your other dish. LOL
2) 1 star because they don’t have a kids menu at lunch time. Get in the sea
3) 1 star because they gave you a “fatty” chateau briand. Not possible. If you knew anything about food you’d know how ridiculous that sounds.
Our experience - really great place, lovely atmosphere, knowledgeable and fun staff.
Food wise i do think it has the “clapham tax” but i have come to begrudgingly expect that. We had artichoke with curds to start which was deep fried - an unexpected but interesting mix with the curd cooling off an otherwise quite rich crunchy artichoke. Still not sure if it was amazing or not.
Then beef with oxtail and parsnip puree and truffle. Really delicious and every element perfectly cooked. Again a little steep at 25 quid but then this is french food in clapham.
Overall a definite add to the local haunts list.
S. N.
What a gem! Great service, professional but friendly and with a smile. The food was fantastic, we had 3 starters to share and a main course each. I had the braised beef which was cooked to perfection and tried 1 dessert from a friend which was super delicious. The wines were outstanding as well!! Couldn't be happier! Definetely made our friends reunion 100 times better. Thank you!

We had a lovely time at Soif. The service was super friendly and attentive. Very nice vibe in the place generally. Food was delicious. Very tasty wine. It made for a really nice evening. Thanks Soif. We will be back.
H. Y.
Lovely quiet dinner in Battersea. The food was amazing and steak cooked to our liking. Slightly overpriced for the portions, but worth it to enjoy the nice atmosphere. Would recommend.
I. S.
Local gem. Really nice atmosphere and great food. Selection of wine is amazing.
Y. C.
The food was excellent for both starters and mains. Just a shame the service was completely off that day. Forgot to put our order in, waited for close to an hour for food, and in the end got our orders wrong. They were however apologetic and drinks were on the house.
K. G.
Had the lunch special today - Ox cheek and potato purée with a glass of the house wine. Excellent value at just £15! The desserts were also delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!
N. T.
Was sad to hear their Terroirs in Covent Garden has closed the door for good so thought would pop in to Soif to see how they are doing. This place is amazing. Full of energy, great staff, very accommodating chef, absolutely fabulous wine and wonderful food. Very vegan friendly. They should be more vocal about it, actually. We had fabulous full plant based meal. Thanks for a great evening. Definitely coming back there.
A. B.
Try going on a Monday to take advantage of selected wines at take home prices.
Soif are supplied by Les Caves de Pyrene so if you enjoy exciting natural/organic wines there's heaps of choice.
We had this one with an Onglet steak that was cooked to perfection.
T. M.
The ambience here is just lovely. A truly charming French-style vinoteque. Delicious food and reasonably priced wine by the glass. Huge bottle selection.
p.
It was okay but wasn’t blown away. The service and atmosphere are good, the food mediocre, it was okay but nothing special
I. W.
Fantastic! Great wine list and very well priced. Food was top notch, looking forward to coming back!
J. H.
Every dish we had was so well conceived and executed and the staff were lovely - a great relaxed atmosphere. Not to mention the incredible wines on offer! One of the best meals I've ever had.
I. K.
Lovely French restaurant and wine bar. They run regular wine tasting events, including a free to pop in series every Wednesday. Food is always outstanding and the menu changes regularly. As expected, the staff are very knowledgeable about the wine and happy to suggest great picks from the extensive wine list. Also runs as a take away wine shop and offer a subset of their list at take away prices when you dine in on Mondays.
P. D.
Soif is definitely the perfect wine bar and cosy restaurant for any day of the week! I went there yesterday, Friday, in the evening and I had the most amazing wine and food!
Also the service was just TOP. My friend and I were looked after by Arturo. He was super professional and friendly. He suggested the wine and we were so happy with his suggestion. I will definitely go back to Soif very soon!
I. Z.
Delicious food, decent portions and great wine. Friendly and mindful staff.
Had the orange wine which was a bit sour to my taste - so i'd suggest asking to try it before actually ordering it.
Oysters were tasty, the charcutterie with 3 different types of meats was nice but probably could do with more bread for that size.
Paid around £70 which was a bit over my budget but will definitely be coming back again!
M. S.
Really cosy place with a buzzy and relaxed ambience. Menu is compact but nicely seasonal, good wine list too.
We had the sourdough bread with butter and sardines to start. Both absolutely delicious and very fresh. Our mains of lamb chops took almost an hour to arrive and were very fatty and not very flavoursome at all - very disappointing after a really nice start to the meal.
Overall, a great place for a relaxed date, nice wine and decent enough food but was let down by patchy service and inconsistent cooking.
Z. S.
Had a wonderful meal which sadly I over ordered on foodwise, fortunately we have the rest to a local homeless person and the staff wrapped this up for us. Wine amazing and was amazed that the sommelier got us a fantastic bottle at almost 1/4 of the price I was expecting to pay. Will come back and finally finish more food. Thanks again to whoever was working!
r. b.
The food is damn tasty! Went there with a group of six at lunchtime - we all had different stuff and everyone was "wowed"
Really nice meats and cheeses too, plus an interesting and good value wine list. Friendly service. It was a bit quiet and I'd like to go back when it's a bit busier for a bit more atmosphere.
B. L.
Absolutely beautiful little dishes, lovely and interesting wine, reasonable prices and relaxed uncomplicated vibe. We will be back!
A. B.
Great affordable wine. Expensive food.
R. C.
We had a very pleasant experience at soif! Really nice and cosy place that looks like home if you come from france. The quality of our experience was mainly thanks to Marcel, who has been really helpful in recommending wines matching our expectations. I was surprised how he accompanied us with politeness and professionalism during the whole evening and provided us with great service throughout. I would definitely recommend that place either if you want to spend a nice romantic moment or want to gather with friends or family. Ask for Marcel if you need friendly advices, good wine knowledge assured!
B. L.
I came across Soif while searching for a particular natural wine, and let me just say what a wonderful stroke of luck that was!! I love the whole natural wine movement, and they embrace it with not just a great list, but also a slew of events that serve to educate their savvy clientele. The food is impeccable--inventive, inspired, and well paired with a variety of eclectic sides. Not only will I be returning here, but I'm so tempted to try their other two locations!
S. P.
Everything you could want from a French winebar. Traditional in all the right ways, with an epic wine list that competes with the best in London. Food is a great homage to old school French cuisine, and does it justice. Staff are lovely and super knowledge to boot. What more could you want..
C. B.
Our favorite spot in the neighborhood without question. We happily spend hours here on a weekend afternoon, ordering a few plates and trying different glasses of wine. They also carry excellent French cider.
J. D.
This is a great spot to start your weekend on a Friday night. You can choose a bottle from the wine book, but I recommend sticking with the daily menu, which is focused and straightforward. My partner and I enjoyed a combination of smaller plates and cheeses, and we skipped main dishes. Bonus: Complimentary sparkling water.
F. P. K.
We have been here twice now. The first time was really good but the second not so much. We ordered some of the same tapas. The tomato in the cod tapas was green and hard. The cod too salty as if not soaked long enough. The smoked salmon tasted a bit old and the sea bream was overcooked. The wine choices are good..
S. J.
A bit pricey but it's worth it. I wish there were more Bordeaux on the wine list, but the wine we chose was delicious and so was the food. The staff is also very approachable and friendly. I will definitely come back.
A. R.
Me and my friends we spent a night and dinner at Soif wine bar in Clapham and it was a perfect place to meet and relax after work. We were welcomed by Arturo the general manager, he was really professional and also really kind to us. We had the pleasure to taste an amazing Sicilian Etna DOC wine “kaos”
It was suggested by the general manager and food was perfect combination with this.
Atmosfere was great too.
Thank you Arturo..
We will definitely come back 👍🏻

First time here after the lockdown(s). Tenth or so overall. Consistently great food and drink every time we eat here! Looking forward to the next time already!!
F. P.
Wonderful time. Knowledgeable & friendly staff - the two don't always go together!... We loved both wines, and both cheese, that they recommended us on the basis of our stated taste preferences. Remarkable. We'll be back!
J. P.
Delicious food, can’t vouch for the wine as I didn’t have any but looked like a good range and a new menu every day! The steak tartare with the minced anchovies was up there with the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
S. B.
We had a fabulous dinner. The whole staff cared for us as friends. The food and wine was divine. We shared several small plates and the large plate of monkfish. Chef Ramon took great care of us.
C. W.
Had a great evening meal there. Thanks all
O. R.
I am a longtime customer and fan of Soif - it's our local where we can always expect a delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately it seems to be going downhill. The past couple of times we've had underwhelming dishes - the love seems to be gone. And the last time we went they were playing ACDC, loud, in a restaurant with 3 couples. Soif has always been bustling so perhaps other diners have noticed these changes as well. Seems like it might be under new management...? It's a real pity.
W. D.
Really enjoyed food and drinks here; great selection of natural wines and the charcuterie board was really tasty. Also the service was brilliant.
E. W.
Always really great food and wine. Service is brilliant too. It's not huge, so you do feel close to other people, but it's a great, lively atmosphere.
J. W.
Great service and amazing natural wine list. Excellent selection of botttle to take home too!
N. D.
You most certainly don't want to be 'soif' with the prices of some of the 'regular' wines in here, I don't mind paying for a decent bottle but some were definitely far of that mark. Pretty cramped seating and not impressed with the pasta, but the steak and rillette were very good and the staff very attentive and friendly.
P. K.
Service and food were excellent. Decor and vibe are casual and focused on comfort. I enjoyed a seabream over something like a tomato ragout and potatoes, with a perfectly crisped skin. My friend said his fettuccine was very good. I had an bergamot and earl grey panna cotta for dessert that I'd recommend to anyone and hope to have again (and I don't usually like panna cotta) -- the texture was sensual and the flavours were nicely balanced. Prices were entirely reasonable.

Based on the ever more bustling Battersea rise the restaurant Soif has developed a bit of a following and reputation over the last couple of years. I’d heard good things from closer friends so it was about time a visit was done.
On the off-chance my better half (Katie as she shall now be known) and I arrived without a booking on a rainy Tuesday night – not too late into the evening and already the place had a nice buzz to it.
We were sat near the kitchen at what seemed an impossibly narrow table for two people comfortably dining. When i say ‘Impossibly’, I obviously exaggerate, but suffice it to say it wasn't a square table and felt a bit odd. The menu seems quite British, with a contemporary twists and continental elements also.
Selections on offer include Duck Rilletes with Cornichons, Abruzzo Bean soup and Pork Rillons with Lentil Vinegrette & Bitter leaves for starterds – with mains showing items like Whole Dorset Crab & Mayonnaise and Red Wine Braised Rabbit Leg with Prunes, Chestnuts and Panceta, Onglet a l’echalotte with Pommes Frites.
We went for some Moules Mouclade to share as a starter and then the Lemon Sole Meunière and Pork Galette with January King Cabbage, Carrots and Crushed Potatoes.
The starter of Moules was not bad, the sauce was a little watery, and if anything the Moules were perhaps a little overcooked. The accompanying bread was clearly homemade and was pretty good actually.
The mains of Lemon Sole and the Pork Galette again weren't bad, the Sole being well cooked and flaky with the Pork galette also not being too bad at all.
As far as a lot of things seem nice and appetising on the menu the food we were served was OK, but alas nothing beyond that. I don’t feel a lot of people will be shouting from the rooftops about it unfortunately. It is a shame as I had looked forward to it.
Ultimately its up to you. They do say they have a daily new menu, so it could be we were just unlucky and went on one of their slightly off days.
A. C.
I've been to the restaurant last week. Excellent food and friendly staff, especially the Italian guy, with a long beard, he was kind and nice. Recommended.
p. f.
Great meat and wine plus some lovely cheese and the price was quite affordable given the quality of the food. Would definitely recommend and will probably come back!
D. M.
Absolutely amazing food from an independent place and great service too. Great atmosphere. Would be good to see some more veggie options on the menu
A. F.
Excellent dinner at Soif : great plates, wine and very nice service!
K. T.
The food here was good, but beware that a small plate really means a saucer and a carafe of wine is a half a bottle. Otherwise the atmosphere and service was good
E. G.
Nice place, delicious food.
C. W.
A really buzzy brasserie with amazing flavours
A. M.
Not bad - pretty competent steak, etc. Wasn't madly impressed, though. Service was fine, although rather slow to let us actually pay for the bill once they'd brought it. Just distinctly average all around, really.
C. E.
Great value food and fantastic interesting wine list
A. P.
Delicious food and drink, with a varied but not excessive selection. Sadly let down by horribly inattentive staff, would be a 1 star without the food and drinks. Tried to add a 12.5% tip without earning a penny of it.
R. H.
Fantastic food. Even better wine. Really hope this place makes it through covid
M. L.
Although the staff was very friendly and helpful the food didn't match my expectations. The wine by glass selection is also small.
G. G.
Excellent selection of natural, bio-dynamic, and organic wines with traditional French food. Relaxed atmosphere with a indoor and outdoor seating.
L. d.
Always a winner. Great food, friendly staff and efficient service. Wine list is good. Highly recommend!
P.
Really good and comprehensive choice of wines, albeit the service can be slow and the food choices limited.
A. H.
Great wine list, very tasty morsels of food, friendly atmosphere. Not too expensive either, nothing not to like!
C.
Fantastic service from a very patient team member who dealt with us arriving just before kitchen closing. Really great food (especially the creme brûlée!

Such a lovely experience.

I think this is what passes for a bijou quiet homely restaurant in London. To my country-boy ears it was loud and crowded but the food was excellent and we had a great time.
S. R.
Great food and really friendly but polite service
C. W.
Great food, wine and ambiance.

Terrific wine tasting tonight with all Natural Wines from Thierry Puzelat. Staff were fantastic as always.

Lovely, informal, relaxed Bistro with exceptional food & wine. The Steak Tartare is to die for!

A treat, but a very nice one. Great selection of wines and knowledgable staff to help you choose.
R. W.
It's a good French spot, knowledgeable/ friendly staff and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. A new local fave
D. J.
I was disappointed by the breakfast menu. But hey the name gives it away, "Soif" means "Thirst" not breakfast :-/. I think it would be better to go for a drink or some food in the evening or afternoon.
W. O.
A must visit. Absolutely delicious food, great service and amazing wine.
E. C.
Had a really nice Saturday lunch - Good Selection of wine and a great terrine.

I went here with for drinks with a friend on a Thursday evening. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere and on the whole service was good. We ended up ordering a selection of 4 cheeses, a charcuterie platter and the beef tartare, and we both had 4 small glasses of wine each. I think we intended to drink less, so would have ordered a carafe each if we had known! The bill came to £120. The venue was probably only half full but there was a waitress who kept trying to take away dishes from us before we had finished, which definitely took away from this being a 5* experience. Overall a nice wine bar but quite pricey for what it is.

(Translated) Local not very large, but with tables separated enough to be comfortable.
I liked that you can observe the kitchen from any table, and see the cooks working, although perhaps they should put some glass that prevents smoke and odors from reaching the tables ..
The food was very tasty, the sirloin I ordered was very tasty and tender.
(Original)

(Translated) original, I would not have expected that in London. Surprisingly good smaller dishes and drinks
