Reviews of Spiritland Diner

Swanky, classy venue with a good ambience. A great night out supporting quality DJ's. A bit cheeky turning off the draft beer to maximise on can and bottle sales. Apart from that we had a good time

Good bar / diner next to the river and arts center. Good cocktails. Good food. Service was slow. The staff was friendly.

We loved this place. Excellent cocktails Excellent service, comfy cool high bar stool table. Will definitely visit again.

Spiritland staff were fantastic, both polite and freidly. We dined in the area to the rear where they have their bespoke sound system. The playlist they had on really did give a fest for the ears.
The menu is a little more like an American diner, with wings and burgers on offer amongst salads. The wings I got were very tasty, I'd definitely recommended them.

We had a fabulous lunch here. Brilliant food, great and speedy service and staff, and outstanding vegan hot dogs. We are looking forward to paying the festival hall restaurant another visit in the near future! L&R

Called in here because the place we intended to go to was too full to accommodate us, what a much better spot this is. Great espresso martinis and a good selection of wines.

This is a very exclusive bar restaurant!
It has its own custom made sound system and the sound quality is unbelievable!
Ofcourse the contribution of the top djs is significant to the actual result.
I spent all Sunday afternoon listening amazing selection of music and enjoyed the delicious dishes of this place.
There is an artisan cocktail bar and an open kitchen area that you can actually watch your food getting prepared by skilled chefs.
The service is excellent and attentive.
This is one of the most elegant and relaxing bar restaurants in town.
This place has a class of its own!
Highly recommended.

One of my favourite places in London to eat and drink but 100% my favourite place to listen to music! The care and attention to detail paid to the PA and sound installation pushes the venue to another level. The brunch menu is varied and every dish I’ve tried has been super fresh and delicious. The mocha is amazing. Great service.

Loved this bar. Great choice of cocktails. Can't wait to return.
K. L.
Lovely bar with good snacks and an outdoor heated area. The drinks take a looooong time to be served but aside from that it’s worth a visit. Right next to the food market.

Recently opened restaurant at the back of the Royal Festival hall. Went for lunch and enjoyed the food and very friendly service. Will be back to try some of the other dishes. Love how they designed the space and the focus on music. It's looks absolutely fabulous and deserves a visit!

Retro 1970s disc ball and lights and wooden bars and seating areas. Warm, welcoming. Lovely staff. Great place to party if Waterloo is your station.

Cocktails good, mac and cheese very good, burger excellent, service from Mitchell and the whole team top notch. All of this + good soundtrack & comfortable booth made for a cracking night.

My friend and I was in the area to have a mooch around Southbank and to see the hub of activity that often descends that area, especially as it was a couple of days before Christmas!
We popped into Spiritland for lunch. It was Monday 23rd and it wasn't too busy when we got there.
It was decided we would order a mix of plates and share, so glad we did!
Kedgeree was delicious, the right amount of curry flavour and spices, flaky fish, well seasoned with a gooey egg on top.
The red quinoa, beetroot, almonds salad with additional mackerel was fresh and well balanced with loads of different texture and flavour.
Then a portion of their Cacio e pepe "cheese & pepper" pasta. Creamy but not cloying with the right balance of pepperiness and al dente pasta.
Good ambience, a consistent trickle of tourists and locals came through the doors and as our lazy lunch spread over a long period of time, not once did we feel hassled or rushed in any way. We will be back!

Delicious cappuccino made with love and a beautiful cosy yet sofisticated vibe, perfect for a catch-up or working on a rainy day.

Great food, and a lovely environment. Staff were lush and the prices were great!

Great staff, lovely food. A nice calming feel to it.

What a lovely venue for great eating and sounds. My partner and I enjoyed an array of delicious dishes of high quality with friendly and attentive staff. The music was perfect for the atmosphere with low lights and seating that was intimate. Highly recommended!!!

Came here for a late breakfast. Average prices and a decent sized plate. The wait staff are a bit on you from the moment you walk in. There’s no need to keep hassling if I need something. I’m doing quite alright.
The toilets weren’t as bad as another review I read but this was the morning and it could descend into madness later on at night.
It’s a good location if you’re going to the National Theatre.

Good food, a little steeply priced but I think that is standard for this part of London so close to the river.
Nice ambience and friendly staff. Had a great Aperol Spritz with my calamari and the pitta and hummus was delicious.

Love the decor, love the cocktails, wonderful staff ❤❤

I've used this a lot for meetings - food is good, coffee is good and the staff are excellent. Wifi decent (very laptop friendly) and there's always space. What's not to like? Not been in the evening yet, but it's made many a morning a lot easier. Highly recommended.
E. B.
Stunning room, the best cocktails in town, brilliant music, the best sound system in the world and you will find all your favourite meals on the menu! What's not to like? Oh and they hold a monthly club night that is freakin awesome every time.

Resisting the food market outside it’s doors is well worth the time warp decor and delectable food. The menu is creative -be prepared to google/ask and get educated on new foods your going to want take home. By far the best meal I’ve had in town for a long time. The mushroom sauce is full of flavour -perfect for fish/meats.
The cocktails are AMAZING and do ask for special off the menu creations like the Sabotage -am always happy to inspire the barman’s creative wildcard.
The crowd is a cool mix of equally retro dressed, and understated city smart. And just when you think your senses are getting used to the vibe there are speakers in the loo to keep you in the spirit of the in-house DJ (if you do an evening sitting)

Went there for a small birthday party. 12 of us. Was easy to reserve a table day in advance. The interior and the SOUND is amazing, no matrer where you sit. The food was great, and relatively cheap for what we had! The waiter was very pleasant responding to every request very quickly, while being unintrusive and almost invisible when you didnt need anything. But the best part was the Music. We managed to come on the right day where the whole evening was dedicated to works of Stevie Wonder, and even had a chance to view the selection of vynils played during the evening. The DJ was welcoming and shared the playlist with one of my friends on request. 5 stars!

Very classy bar restaurant with a focus on music. The bar serves a modern-classic cocktail menu (c.£10 each) including a Clementine gimlet, and a good selection of beers and wines at tall tables. The restaurant is dimly lit and plushly surrounded with red velvet curtains. The menu is really interesting, with lots of words I didn't understand, but the staff are well informed and on hand to help. Starters are around £6-9 and mains upwards of £15. I recommend the aubergine starter and had the sardine main, although my friend's sea bass was delicious.
There's a focus here on music: there's a set of decks in the restaurant and huge speakers set into the walls of the bar and even in each toilet cubicle! There's a programme of DJs playing throughout the week to accompany your meals.
This is a perfect addition to the cool South Bank. Only knocking off a star as there's only one vegetarian main, which I was surprised about.

Had a lovely night with pals.. although Food was a bit hit and miss. A mix of tasty and lazy if I’m honest. Ordering the small plates.. What was described as a multiple ingredients salad with all sorts of excitement - in reality an silly over sized bowl of quinoa with a bit of avo on top arrived. On the flip side the ribs went down very well, alongside the calamari, chicken bites.. however we arrived at dessert and the chocolate fondant was cold in the middle? The Prosecco was room temp... just not really that consistent overall.. a little underwhelming. Has so much potential for the space the ambience the staff are friendly and attentive. Just a bit dissapointing generally when going out is a bit of a treat & the bill for 4 equals close on £200.

I love Spiritland. I was already a great fan of the King's Cross branch and was very happy to see that they've opened this new branch. Really, everything is great here - the food, the drinks, the service, the decor and design and of course the sound system. It's already one of my favourite places in London, so much so that I took family there for dinner twice last week. It is so nice to go somewhere that is so considered in terms of design - a LOT of care and attention has gone into making this place a joy to be in, from the curved tables in the booths, to the lighting, the comfortable bar stools (why so many exist that are a pain to sit on I don't know), the acoustics (so you can enjoy great music, but also private conversation). This is an excellent addition to the Southbank, and I imagine in summer it's going to be even better with the terrace they have. They deserve all the business they can get.

Whilst the drinks and food offered at the Royal Festival halls' Spirit Land are exceptional, the real star of the show is the second-to-none sound system, playing contemporary music with a quality matched by no other venue in London, or the UK for that matter. The staff, and the service they offer, is unreservedly impeccable, with a relaxed feel. A destination not to miss in Waterloo.
J. F.
Great venue. Good tunes, fab wine list and decor simple but slick. Really nice staff made our visit really enjoyable. Didn't have food hence the 4 stars.
D. L.
Food was so so. The Calamari w Aioli starter was okay but for £6.50 it really could have done with something else on the plate for presentations sake - even just a few nice crispy dressed leaves would have elevated it adequately. The main course Sea-bass fillet was cooked well but poorly accompanied by dry and unimaginative roasted fennel. Either braise it or use a lot more oil whilst roasting. Fennel is a fibrous plant and requires those fibres to be broken down sufficiently before serving. Disappointing.
The £5 side portion of “Israeli chopped salad” lacked character. Just a basic preparation of tomato/cucumber/onions - which could have been great if the ingredients were of quality but this stuff looked like it’d come from Lidl, and it looked tired and bored - like it had been hanging around in a fridge for a few days. Was it even dressed?
We didn’t bother ordering dessert.
Also, at one point a roaming waiter almost snatched up my glass of Kombucha for no apparent reason, then another cleared my friends starter plate whilst I was still eating. This is really basic stuff. Perhaps less floor staff and better training is the way forward.
The £1,000,000 sound system sounded good but shame there wasn’t a dj spinning some vinyl at 6pm Thursday in central London - it doesn’t seem like a lot to ask.

Sadly I have to echo the service issues and add that I’ve visited more presentable toilets in student nightclubs. Food is fresh, music is good - albeit played at erratic volumes - but service is not quite up to scratch. If you want the Spiritland experience visit their kings cross branch.
D. S.
Really good cocktails. Care taken to get the balance right. Nice food and brilliant music. All round good time had by all.
D. M.
Spiritland is a culinary asset to the Southbank, a place with a shocking dearth of good places for a drink / meal. A really superb atmosphere that's so complementary to the gorgeous venues here, really unlike any bar or restaurant nearby.
D. j.
Amazing find staff were very friendly food was amazing .The decor was simple and effective. Let’s not forget about the amazing cocktails the old fashions simply the best
C. D.
Nice - but I am going to have to edit this down from a five to a three for two reasons: first time the music was good. This time (sat night - so probably my fault) music truly awful. Second reason: whooping from a private function inadequately screened off. There is never any excuse for whooping.
R. D.
Well appointed bar with short, interesting menu. Respect for gin and whisky... Always a good start. Delightful staff. Will be back.
B. A.
Interesting vibe, cool music, good service. The black ink pasta with crab and chilli was great. Not too expensive for what it is.
