The food was cooked well but wasn't the tastiest Turkish food that I have had compared to other places. Also I could taste fat and meat on my lips even after my meal and dessert. Also it is on the higher price of a Turkish restaurant which is fine but I think they need to match that with their food and service.

This is my go to place whenever I’ve time to take my kids. Mrs is a fan of Turkish food and this one is really a decent one and local. I love their food, their service is second to none. Little bit pricey, specially I think they should add a platter for 2 options with a relatively low price. Minimum price of a platter at the moment is £45 which is a bit too much for many people but I’d give them 5* everyday for the quality. Highly recommended.

Staff were nice, place was clean. Tables too close to one another, therefore conversations were heard from tables behind and in front. Ordered the largest platter, ribs were small and overcooked. Chicken wings were bland. The rest of the platter was was flavoursome and cooked well.

Came across this place by chance, it's certainly a hidden gem. They gave us complimentry bread with the usual garlic and chilli sauce and this unique grilled onion and pomegranate sauce which tasted superb. The bread was also seasoned and tasted fresh and soft. The food overall was well priced, good portion size and flavoursome. I ordered the slow cooked lamb shank which was very tender and complimented well by the accompanying vegetables and sauce. Customer service was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and hygienic and they had a one way system in place as a social distance measure. The only point to mention is that the drinks were slightly overpriced than usual. Overall a great family friendly restaurant which I definitely recommend.

This for me is simply the best Turkish restaurant in Tower Hamlets. Everything from the food to the service is great. The food especially is just on point and fresh /delicious tasting everytime I have attended with family and friends. Put it this way, their starter complementary bread is the best turkish bread I've had in any place, its spiced in a unique way with oil or butter combo that could make this a meal in itself!. Highly recommended and prices are very competitive.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. The Turkish cuisine here was splendid, the lamb ribs and Lamb shank both tender and full of flavours. I came across this place by chance and honestly it exceeded expectations. I really loved their fried onions in pomegranate sauce, I’ve never come across this before. The customer service was so lovely and the staff were so attentive and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

What a delicious meal (Turkish breakfast) Basket of bread and tea not photographed. I caught their lunch special offerings. This was followed by a pot of ice cream with caramelised walnuts (Walnut Wonder). The staff was lovely, I sat outside and was super comfortable. I can not wait to go back again and bring my friends.

In a word ..... Amazing. We come here often for an alternative Sunday lunch and it never disappoints. Humongous portions and so very tasty. The sultan special (pictured) serves 2-3 People easily and at £40 is a steal. Service is always friendly and they will give you a takeaway box for the left overs which I assure you there will be some. Highly recommended.

EDIT: went here in 2020 after lockdown eased and yes it was busy but i was waiting outside with 4 others including 1 person waiting inside and no one bothered to acknowledge us or make any effort of an update. was truly disgusting so we went elsewhere. haven't been back since which is a shame as i used to go often.

Second time @ Sultan Sofrasi. Food on point! The mix Grill was really good and had the right flavours in it. The sea bass with new potatoes was mouth watering. However the Service wasnt there this time. We was put in a corner and had no one attend to us, had to go and get a waiter to order or food. We was served the food and that was it. Overall good place to go as a group and enjoy the food they offer. Give it a try.

Really nice no frills authentic and well priced Turkish place. Locals come often and staff is lovely. Mixed hot and cold mezze platter for less than £14 is plenty for two people, just order some extra Turkish sausage and enough for a meal! We also had the slow cooked lamb shank which was a whole leg (see pics) and very good. Also have a range of cocktails and desserts. Well recommended!

Rear Moment.......5 *. This place today served magic in our family platters and mixed grills. I don't think it was only me but the rest of my crowd agreed the food was more then spot on. I live a long ways away but whenever I am in East London or Stratford - Westfield I try to get here. Came here on reccomendation, to be slightly disappointed. Food was amazing but service was poor. Waitresses have no customer service skills, we waited 10 minutes before anyone came to ask if we wanted drinks, got our order wrong and not even asked how our food was. They also need to be trained how to make certain drinks on their menu and a smile wouldn't go a miss either.

I had to go quite a distance to try this place. It definitely has a Turkish feel starting with the facade and reaching every detail inside. Nice simple clean place, just opposite the Roman Street. The menu boasts a number of Turkish classics. I wasn't too adventurous tough but I did have the stuffed vine leaves as a cold starter which was superb. The hot pawn in tomato sauce starter was unbelievable. And finally my grilled salmon steak was perfect! I must have been there early because when i arrived there was no one dining in, just a few clients ordering take away. By the time I had finished my meal it was almost full. I could see all sorts of amazing dishes handed out to tables around me. The most eye catching of course is the blown up bread! That must be a signature order!

Only eaten here a couple of times, but we regularly order for delivery. If you love grilled meat then this is for you. I'm really greedy so we often get the Sultan Special where you get pretty much everything and it's for 2-3 people. My favourite bits are the lamb ribs and the rice and couscous which is served under all the meat so is mega tasty.

Having recently moved to Gravesend we noticed this venue seemed to be very popular. Having now visited it's not hard to see why. A great menu with food served in great style by very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with a lively vibe. We have been several times and usually have a sharing platter which we found a challenge to eat between four of us. No problem as staff will box up whatever you cant manage to take home. The meal can be finsihed off with a choice form a varied sweet menu and there is a great range of beers and wines etc to choose from.

A benefit of this lockdown has been the need to check out local places. After living around the corner for 4 years and always saying I want to try it, I've finally eaten at Sultan Sofrasi and was not disappointed! The order was ready in 10 min and the workers were very nice when we picked it up. We ordered the chicken doner with chips, mixed grill and bread. The bread that came with the doner was amazing! The whole meal was great. Looking forward to eating in once we're out of lockdown!

Very friendly staff, and very reasonable lunch time pricing. The portion size was more than generous for the price, especially if bought during the lunchtime special pricing times. The mixed kebab was very nice, adorned with a good portion of rice and salad. You also have slices of bread similar to a naan to begin with with yoghurt and chilli salsa accompaniments. You are not rushed to finish your meal which is nice. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I am surprised to read few comments about bad service. I went to the restaurant second time yesterday and again found the service extremely good (may be I am the lucky one to get service by nicer staff :P). Location of the restaurant isn't very good as its situation in corner of Roman market however, for local community its good option to have otherwise they will need to travel far to get some Turkish food. Decor is also decent, they have outdoor seating available, since it was a hot day so we made use of that option. Toilet facilities could be improved slightly. Food was very good quality and priced very reasonably. Their Lavas bread is really nice and comes complimentary with any large order. We ordered Family special mix grill which was sufficient for 4 people. Overall very happy with the experience. I will go again and I would recommend to everyone.

We come here quite often. I have to say the food and service is spot on. The meat is cooked well. The sauces and salad that come with the warm bread, complimentary, are divine. We’ve ordered more or less most things on the menu over the times we have come here. But my favourites have to be the Adana Kofte, Shawarma and when you’re feeling fairly hungry - the mixed platter for 2. We tried their rice pudding the last time we came, and if you have a sweet tooth it’s definitely something worth trying. We loved it. We always finish with a cup of Turkish Tea to wash it all down. Great food and atmosphere for the family.

I like some of their food but went by just after the first lockdown and they raised the price on an item from then enforced a £10 card minimum meaning I had to buy and spend yet more, so I went elsewhere. Why make things difficult?

Good service and food isn't as dry as other Turkish places, quite a diverse menu offering. Alcohol is served here alongside Halal food so can cater to all parties; I recommend the large jumbo platter, difficult to finish even between 8 people even though it's recommended for 3-4.
