Reviews of The Brigade Bar + Kitchen
D. B.
The staff were really friend and service was great. Food was nice and simple but not very warm when it came to the table.
N. H.
Excellent restaurant and bar, fantastic staff, such a good outlook on life, a social enterprise and charity changing lives, and creating fantastic food and corporate experiences at the same time. Brilliant work to Simon and the whole team.

The restaurant looks great from the outside, and it doesn't disappoint inside either. The atmosphere is good, the staff are friendly and the furnishings new and modern.
The menu looked amazing, but I went for the turbot and muscles, which was disappointing. The skin wasn't crispy and the dish wasn't well balanced. It could have done with something to use all the sauce as well, even some bread would've been great.
We were also asked as we finished our meal if everything was OK, which was a little odd. We had unpitted olives (which we delicious!), but had nowhere to put the stones. I also didn't have anyway to put my muscle shells. However, in general the service was really good.
3 stars may be a little harsh, but for the price I did expect better.

Decent food, nice location, comfy interior. It's a bit pricey for the food quality, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. They also have some interesting beers - a good place to chill and have a pint or two.

Absolutely astonishingly tasty meal. It was my first time eating here and I thought everything was immaculate. From the presentation, flavours, attentiveness of staff members. Will definitely return here again.
Me and my friend opted for the shared rack of bbq ribs with chips and broccoli as sides. I really think this was the best rack of ribs I've ever had. The chips were definitely towards the top of the list too. It seemed like each item had been cooked with specific intention and a devotion to excellence.
I also like the ethos of the business with their close ties to supporting homelessness and endeavouring to make the world a better place.
Thanks for the great food and attentiveness of waiters/waitresses. Especially Bianca who kept checking in, what a sweetheart with a lovely smile.
R. S.
Wonderful food and experience. The cocktails were delicious; especially the spicy Firefighter and the dessert wines. Standout food was the cauliflower starter, the crab doughnuts, the chocolate mousse and rhubarb tart but everything was delicious and the service was amazing. I also just cooked some BBQ chicken with the spice mix we were given at the end of the meal which made it absolutely incredible. Thank you and I'll be back soon!

Food was amazing! And the service was so friendly.
Paulo our Portuguese waiter was a dream we actually love him! What a true gentleman and fantastic host!
If I could give this place 100/10 I would! Fantastic.
Will go again!

An all round wonderful dining experience when we went for Friday evening dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome by the friendly and very attentive staff. We went for the vegetable sharing platter and oh my goodness was the portion size huge such that we were absolutely stuffed; the staff kindly boxed up the remainders as it was so delicious we didn't want to leave a morsel behind. Great ambience (we ended up staying for hours because it's just such a nice atmosphere to catch up in), for a great cause also. Would 10/10 recommend and we are already planning our next meal there. Thank you ever so much in particular to the wonderful Julia - she was so kind and friendly, we felt superbly taken care of with her professional and observant service. Thank you!
J. R.
Had the lamb and the treacle tart. What can i even say about the lamb wood fired cooked it was just amazing.
D.
Fantastic service. Our party of oaps knew your story. Food was excellent.
Your were fully booked.
But you were serving food drink and smiles seamlessly.
We even experienced your carry out service when one of our gentlemen (known for his over indulgence of the liquid refreshment kind) collapsed.
PABLO or it might have been Paulo (small of stature but big on delivery) helped carry him out to booked taxi. And when driver refused our man and ambulance sadly had to be called Paulo or Pablo set him in recovery position and got him blankets and waited with us until ambulance arrived.
Service above and beyond. I highly recommend it.
Did I mention the food was excellent?
J. C.
Really nice food and amazingly attentive and kind service combined with good cause they support.
R. D.
Wow wow what an amazing job this people are doing. Had a plain healthy lunch in LB, good coffee and the bread and butter are so good. And at the same time my money in some way is helping fight homelessness.

To starr, the staff who meant to show me to the table did not know where I should be sitted resulted in my getting in the way of the other restaurant staff. He could have asked me to wait to be served rather than say "follow me". Order - waved to catch the eyes of the same waiter who showed me to the table but he did not come.over the firat time and have to waved to him a 2nd time. I did catch his attention the first time as he nooded his head. He took our order and missed an item which we have to follow up. Placed for dessert and again missed it. Waited for 40mins for my chocolate fondue. They did not charged for the dessert in the end.
Overall experience, I would not visit again even with 50% off again as the food is only average, nothing special or outstanding, service is below average. Dine there just to help the community, that's all.

You cannot leave here hungry, the portions were generous and delicious. A meat lovers delight! Busy and full of noise, it's a great atmosphere for a fun night.

Went a couple of weeks ago and had an enjoyable experience. Love the fact that it is a social enterprise restaurant and there was a lot of information throughout the restaurant that talked about their work for the community. Prices and portions were very decent, I had a taste of my partners burger and it was delicious, the bun was very fluffy. I had the steak with the chimichurri and the flavour was great, but when it got served to me it was slightly cold. For my side I got the wood fired broccoli, romesco and spiced hazelnut, while it tasted delicious (specially the sauce underneath) it again arrived slightly cold and the broccoli wasn’t cooked through in the middle. I didn’t bother returning to the kitchen as at this point the kitchen was closed (our booking was for 8pm, the restaurant closes at 9pm, and last orders were as soon as we sat down). The highlight of the meal was definitely the dessert, we got a dark chocolate mousse with red wine poached pear, vanilla cream and hazelnut crumb - it was the perfect balance of different flavours and rich enough for too people to share after a big meal. The waitress serving us at the time was really friendly and attentive and the interior was really nice with a busy atmosphere, so I would recommend it for a nice dinner with friends. Appropriate Covid measures in check throughout the restaurant and at the time they were doing the EOTHO scheme.
J. N.
Amazing experience! Massive Respect to Chef Leon and the delightful Paulo. I swear when I get richer I'm coming for both these Guys. You Guys made my Daughter feel like a Queen for her Birthday. Nadia was truly overwhelmed. Members of the Public remember I told you.... Brigade Bar and Kitchen going on!!
A. K.
Great restaurant with a great cause and dead friendly staff. Tops marks all round.
R. R.
Service good. Out of 10. IPA 10. Water 10. Set menu cancelled 0. A la carte Menu 5. Main 2. Dessert 8. Coffee 10. Value 3. Noise level 2. Setting 8. It is supposed to be a charity but the main courses were very poor value. The Dartmoor lamb for £22 my friend chose was inedible as far as I could see.

I found this place nice and welcoming. The staff is friendly and very helpful (advising on large or small portions). Can't comment on the speed of service as there were few tables occupied hence they were really not under pressure. One big negative aspect in my opinion is that the sunday roast was the only option available (you might want to check if you are vegeterian)... while I appreciate it was sunday lunch time I still think there should be some other option available. The quality of the food was nice and it was well cooked
J. C.
Had a very good lunch here, well worth the few extra quid compared to standard places. Nice space, very good service, excellent food. Also, feels like you're not wasting money on a corporate chain, maybe even doing some slight good
F. C.
An unqualified success! 12 of us turned up to eat the most delicious (pre-booked) supper before going to the Bridge Theatre. We ran out of time because we were enjoying ourselves so much but Thomas and his staff were unflappably calm and efficient as well as having been very welcoming and attentive to us all. We shall definitely return! Thank you to all especially Thomas.
K. C.
Service was a bit slow but still friendly and the food I had (buratta and lamb) was really yummy. 👌🏻
A. R.
Lovely place, atmosphere, and staff! A little underwhelmed by the food.
A. P.
We came at the end breakfast service and it was phenomenal. They were very cool about doing breakfast for us even though they were prepping for lunch. And all the food was spot on. Our lattes were perfect, and the full brigade breakfast was so delicious. I would have gotten a picture but I wanted to eat it right away. Please come here for a delicious breakfast!
L. P.
Excellent food, great ethos and very friendly staff. Great place to go when you’re visiting The Bridge Theatre.
D. F.
Loved the concept behind it, stunning building and dining room, v airy! We all really enjoyed our food and would definitely go back, when in London another time. Staff were very nice too!

Great place for a quick bite to eat or a Great dinner. A lot of room and spacious seating.
R. J.
This place is great, the staff are all very friendly- a lot are in training and trying really hard. The food was tasty too and has an interesting and changing menu, often featuring the charcoal fire feature. Nicely decorated inside It's a social enterprise so that makes it even more worth a visit.
L. G.
Yesterday we had dinner in this amazing friendly restaurant. The staff are very helpful, the service is good and the food is delicious and well presented. The restaurant works with homeless and unemployed people and trains them for the positions required to operate the restaurant. We will definitely return.
O. B.
The inside of the restaurant is really nice but the food was not wow. A great location though and a very good and quick service.
a. R.
Fantastic food , great service and giving something back to the community. Well done. Highly recommended , give this restaurant a go folks
C. K.
Had brunch here on Monday. Food and service was really good. Brunch menu is a bit smaller now and there's only one vegan option. But we could choose food from the all day menu too. Had the butternut squash hummus which was so yummy. I was glad to hear that this place is still offering Eat Out to Help Out discount during the month of October. Will definitely come back again if I'm in the area.
F. L.
Great food, lovely people. Good facilities
C. A.
Very friendly staff. Good atmosphere and interesting tasty food - recommended!
M. C.
We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised. They have an amazing story here. They employ and train homeless people. The food was great! We started with a few appetizers and then we shared the roasted chicken and it came with the best roasted vegetable dish ever! Dessert was delicious. The bartender made me an amazing old fashioned, I would go back just for that if I could.
P. K.
The service is very attentive and I was asked several times is everything ok while I was eating. All the dishes are very fresh and made of good high quality ingredients. The presentation of dishes is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the aubergine dish was very undercooked. Aubergines are not easy to make well and they ask time.
P. R.
Great bar and kitchen.
Food was excellent and the staff was very attentive.
Value for money well worth a visit

We had an early dinner at The Brigade taking the benefit of their discounted offer during September. We shared the BBQ platter and it was spectacular! Really well cooked meats, generous portions, nice add-ons. Plus the service was very good. We will definitely be going back and it's great to know we are supporting such a worthwhile enterprise.
t.
Delicious array of vegetables cooked to perfection with lovely grilled flavour. Definitely recommend and will return
Z. S.
Amazing roast dinner for our work do. Bespoke menu, great cause and amazing drinks. Can't fault at all.
D. P.
Buzzing busy bar. Service a bit slow but vibe very good
A. A.
Popped in last night without a booking and we were seated straight away.
The service was very friendly. The atmosphere relaxed – we didn't feel rushed and were able to stay there all night enjoying our food and wine, rather than having the 2 hour booking a lot of restaurants in the area require.
The food was excellent, lots of choice. I had the best fish I've had in a long time and there were also plenty of creative veggie and vegan options. To top it off it is a great social enterprise to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
E. M.
A lovely warm welcome that made me feel instantly comfortable, which is a must for a solo diner. The staff were all really friendly and attentive to just the right level. With two choices for the fish of the day the menu caused a lot of difficultly on decision making in a good way. I just couldn't make up my mind as it all looked so good. The food lived up to my expectations and I was really happy to have an English white wine as an option with my fish. I have to go back again though as I only got to try one dessert and I wanted to try them all.

Superb service, good portions and expertly cooked food.

Really delicious food for a good cause. The menu is small and the chefs really put an effort into making the food great. We had the broccoli and lamb main courses, and the chocolate orange for dessert - it was all really lovely. And the best thing about this place is that eating and drinking here supports a good cause - apprenticeships for homeless people. I’ll definitely be visiting again and would recommend others stop by. They also have a large bar area if you just fancy stopping by for a drink.

Fantastic place!
I’m sometimes reluctant on social enterprise restaurants because they can lack of quality or attention to details
This place definitely doesn’t.
The products are really good, locally sourced and you can really taste the difference.
The service is exceptional
Amazing rump steak and great wine selections.
They serve it rare which is the only way steak should be served.
The work they are doing is also a great added value to your meal
S. P.
We came in for a cocktail as we are having dinner nearby and wanted to kill some time. I can’t speak to their food menu but the drink menu was excellent. My husband had the Firefighter which has chili infused tequila and is delicious. The service was amazing - the bartender came over to check on us and he was personable and eager to learn of our experience. Definitely recommend.
E. P. A.
It's ok, great back story, food impeccable.
T. O.
Great service by a friendly host and lovely food.
S. M.
Really well converted old fire station, comfortable seating and easily accessible. We were a party of 6, 2 of whom had additional dietary needs. The menu was varied, food fresh, tasted delicious and everyone was catered for. Wait staff attentive and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit...or two.
F. 7.
I had dinner here with friends and what a great place! I recommend it if you like good Indian food and cool vibe. 2 bar areas where you can meet with friends before dining in one of the best spots. Tasty Indian food and designed for sharing. We had the meat and veg dishes which were both delicious. We arrested way too much so go easy! Good atmosphere and vibe. They even have a machine that can convert a real time picture onto the TOP of a Guineas beer. So cool.
M. C.
Great place to eat! Small-ish menu with very varied choices, seemed strange at first but the food we ordered was all delicious. Very friendly staff who were helpful, and nice that the restaurant has its cause behind it 😊 helping apprentices and the homeless. Nice decor inside was very pleasant to spend time there. Good value for money with great quality of food, will keep it in mind for when I'm next in London.

Had a good brunch experience here, it wasn't busy during brunch and they have a lot of seating to accommodate guests, good for small groups. I enjoyed the food, the sriracha with the chicken and waffles was an interesting new taste but the buttermilk chicken burger in the brioche bun was my favourite, great tasting and not heavy at all.
The restaurant has a good cause supporting the less fortunate to gain skills in the food industry.

Came all the way from California, and made a spontaneous decision to stop here. What a lucky find! Beyond unbelievably amazing experience here. Absolutely unique entree’s than anything I have ever tried. From appetizer to main dish and desert, my taste buds were truly dancing. You must try this if you’re looking for delicious cuisine and superb customer experience.
R. S.
Fantastic food, service and venue. I have been here a few times and always have a great experience. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Such a good cause. Money well spent and a great example of a restaurant changing people's lives through their apprenticeship scheme.
J. P.
Here now for dinner. Friday night 18:30pm. VERY LOUD. Bar area super crowded. Dining room right next to it, mostly empty. Watched two parties sit down then leave because of how loud the bar area is. We almost did the same. Glad we stuck it out. Food was awesome! Bread and butter was so good. Two of us shared the chicken/greens/chips. Great service from the staff.
p. d.
Food is super delicious. Bit expensive but worth it😊. Would come back again.
A. W.
Came for the Wild Beer x Brigade Goatober event - four named chefs presenting goat themed dishes. Excellent stuff, all beautifully presented, delicious food. The venue is fantastic, production quality is very high, but without becoming cold or showy. Staff are extremely friendly and professional. And all this, as a social enterprise? They've done an excellent job here.
C. T.
Food and service is great, just a bit too slow.
A. K.
A wonderful dinner with many shared plates, all of which were delicious and uniquely flavored. Attentive and prompt service. And the warm feeling of supporting a great project to give homeless folks a hand up into meaningful work.
W.
Staff were lovely and food was great although they could do with more vegan options, perhaps a dedicated vegan starter to go with the main course.
The Brigade and Beyond Food Foundation is an excellent idea and really gives back to the community meaning you can support the homeless by dining in a great restaurant! Props to the restaurant team on such a great approach!
A. T.
Great place to grab a drink and some food. Most importantly, it supports a great cause. You wouldn't think that the people working there have been homeless at one stage in their lives and managed to turn their fate around. A very inspiring place.
T. C.
Lovely place, very friendly staff!
I was unaware of the social work behind it and was very fortunate to have been given a tour of the restaurant, meeting rooms and kitchen.
I'm amazed about what they do and certainly recommend it, when you go there, do ask about their social work. Inspiring place and a lesson to society.
M. L.
What a lovely restaurant. Food was splendid and cooked to perfection. Service was great and price was extremely reasonable. It is set in an old fire station and could have kept maybe a few features to give the place some of the character of the external building. But I love fire stations so maybe that's me being a little bit biased.
K. H.
The fact that it has a social purpose only adds to the very good food and great professional service. Good quality ingredients and a range of food options from smaller bites to mains. The building is a converted fire station, modern decor and welcoming.
J. P.
I really really love the food in Brigade Bar + Kitchen and I also love the service because they are very very helpful. So I recommend you guys to visit and eat here.
G.
Super friendly and thoughtful service, delicious and fairly priced food, nice atmosphere and an awesome social concept!
We were six people eating vegetarian / vegan and loved it.
M. M.
Every thing was so good! I randomly walked in, and I was surprised at how good the food was, and I thought it was amazing that my money went to helping train new chefs. In the end, I would definitely come back, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat!
L. B.
Went here for Xmas meal with friends and it was great! There was a special little area for a large party, we paid £40 plus drinks and there was SO MUCH FOOD! I would definitely come again
L. S. (.
Excellent food, fast service too. Pre-booking recommended.
L. S.
Got up sold before reading wine list. Considered it my contribution to charity but would have appreciated wine list before barman suggested most expensive glass!
Having said that fantastic concept and great place for wine and food
Google there! !!
You won't be disappointed
V. T.
I really enjoyed my dining experience at the Brigade. The food is cooked to perfection, the service is amazing and the ambiance is cozy yet cool and not pretentious. As you walk into the bar, the decor is slick, all white and modern with floor to ceiling glass walls. The kitchen is open, and you can see it from almost anywhere in the Brigade. You can even sit right by it (bar style) and watch the cooks prepare the most ornamented meals. This is a fancy place when it comes to how they prepare the meals. You won't get a simple British meal here. Nevertheless, the food is really good. My filet was so tender and juicy. It was divine. This is a great place to go for a romantic date. But be aware, you will spend quite a bit if you opt for a buying a bottle of wine, have steaks and starters. I do recommend it. The service was great!!
J.
Bone Marrow to start, beef roast for main. Really enjoyed the food service and drinks here. Would have got five stars but the beef need a bit longer to cook. Would recommend the restaurant.
I. S.
Lovely food, attentive and friendly staff. Had an excellent evening and then saw that they give back by help the homeless by teaching them new skills. Highly recommend
R. a. K.
Fantastic social enterprise. We went for a supper club, £65 for a 4 course meal and welcome drink cooked by a celebrity chef (Chris king on our visit) and the apprentice chefs from brigade. Exquisite food, great atmosphere and a lovely feeling from putting money in to a worthwhile cause.
I. R.
An amazing restaurant right in the city centre of London. Food is very good and everything is home baked and fresh. I was there as a part of a charity initiative with my company. Their chefs and kitchen porters are part of a programme to reduce homelessness. An amazing experience! Staff is friendly!
A. K.
Really great meal and we were very well looked sfter... as a social enterprise I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, but have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Brigade. It is a lovely place to go for a high quality, reasonably priced meal, with genial service.
J. B.
The website and front door say they open at 7.30am, but was waiting outside until 7.50am as the doors were locked. When they were opened, was told I could have a table but that they didn't start serving until 8am.
After that, the service and food were both great - recommend grabbing breakfast here.
M. P. (. P.
Good selection of beers and wines and the food is pretty good too. The atmosphere is pretty chilled out and you can really enjoy a relaxed session here.
My only negative comment would be around the speed of service when having a sit down meal, but if you aren't in a rush this won't be too much of a concern.
G. L.
I enjoyed the food. We just hoped we knew about the homeless project.
The waiting stuff was nice and interactive, they even made us laugh!
I passed the restaurant everyday and I had no clue.
We will be back!
D. D. J.
Never eaten her but it's a nice enough drinking spot, not as busy as done of the other pubs and bars nearby. Meantime on tap. Nice venue. Bit of a PWC / EY crowd on Thursday & Friday evenings though.
G. C.
I throughly enjoyed my dining experience here. The service was professional and the food was great. We had three courses along with drinks. The only issue was the long wait between mains and desserts which meant we ended up staying at the restaurant longer than anticipated!
D. O.
Not only a lovely bar with lovely staff, but they are a social enterprise that takes a few young people who have been homeless in as apprentices, and trains them up in employable skills on 8 month schemes. Wonderful place, and nice cider and beer.
