Reviews of Ugly Dumpling
E. K.
This is a wonderful gem in London that deserves its 5 star rating. We got the soup, Aubergine tempura and 3 different types of dumplings, the duck, the shrimp and the Thai green curry. The food was great, with the shrimp dumpling as the highlight, and the service is also really great. Would recommend it to anyone that wants great dumplings.
S.
Best dumplings I have had in ages! We had the lunch deal which was the perfect amount - 5 dumplings and a bowl of noodles for £10. The dumplings were delicious and the classic flavours are a great selection. The staff were efficient and friendly. I’ll definitely be going back.
G. S.
The veggie dumpling was my favourite. Nice outdoor space and good service.
Also reasonably priced.
The prawn dumpling was too salty and why I didn't give 5 star
V.
Really great little dumpling place. We went at 12 on a Friday and were the only customers throughout. People, get out and support these places!
We went for the veggie platter and meal deal - 5 dumplings plus lovely noodles. We then ordered 3 x 3 more dumplings to finish.
We enjoyed them all. Prawn and Chive was the best. Mushroom and truffle also good. Not had a dumpling with cheese on before!
I’d recommend for vegetarians and I’d go back.

Very interesting flavours like the cheese burger and pizza dumplings! All fried and a bit greasy and heavy though. Staff were a bit too keen to take away plates. Augergine side was very nice too.
G. D.
Friendly service. Outdoor tables in Carnaby Street with QR code menus, but not ordering. I got the vegetarian platter. Honestly, the Asian flavored fillings were great. The ones with cheese and such were disconcerting. Not their fault, it just shouldn't be put in a dumpling wrapper. I loved the idea, but ultimately would not try it again. Next time I'll stick with the traditional flavors.

All I want for Christmas is DUMPLING 🎄🥟🎄🥟
@ugly.dumpling.uk is located in the heart of Soho. It’s a small cosy corner restaurant offering fun & interesting flavours of dumplings. When you are waiting for your dumplings, you can use the colour pens to paint the dumpling coaster.

WHAT I GOT
🥟Xmas Dumplings
🥟New Favourites Platter
🫔Spring Roll
🍄Mushroom & Truffle
🍔Cheeseburger
🍕Pizza Margherita
Spring Roll dumpling consisted various vegetables and the taste was so Spring Roll. I thought the secret should be sesame oil. Lovely😋😋😋
Mushroom and truffle dumpling was my favourite among all coz’ I obsessed in any food with truffle. The filling was moist and aromatic. Love it♥️♥️♥️
Cheeseburger dumpling was so interesting and unique. The beef filling was juicy and flavourful. It’s just like a mini burger. Must try item😍😍😍
Pizza Margherita dumpling was filled with cheese and came along with tomato sauce and basil. I would say it’s a pan fried version Ravioli. Tasty and creative🥰🥰🥰
@ugly.dumpling.uk just launched Turkey & Sage dumplings for Christmas. How it tasted? See my next post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for details 🤗
If you are vegan but wanna try cheeseburger, there will be a great news for you. @ugly.dumpling.uk will launch a Vegan Cheeseburger Dumplings in their new shop during #veganuary . I will defo go to try it😍😍😍

Cool little spot for Dumplings in London. We enjoyed the meal deal and treated it as a little snack on our wanders! Really friendly staff and very tasty food! Watch out for the service charge though 😅
R. M.
Good place to enjoy dumplings. Funny concept of doodling on dumpling coasters. Would have given them 5 stars if the dumplings were outstanding they were ok and some were very hard.
L. W.
Lovely food and friendly service. The savoury dumplings were superb, but the dessert dumplings are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Don't skip dessert here.... 😋
J. M. H.
This place had really quick service. They were ready to take the order quickly and food came out just as fast. They’re dumplings are a bit hit and miss. I ordered the meat sampler and like half of the dumplings. Some were also lacking flavor and it was hard to tell what some of them were. They’re dessert dumplings were a bit more impressive.
L. M.
BEST dumplings! Served with just one sauce i.e. chill sauce which goes perfectly well with literally every dumpling! I ordered the meat platter and loved every single dumpling on it. My friend ordered the vegan platter from which she loved the Thai green curry dumplings (she ordered an extra portion of those aswell).
The only ones I didn’t like at all were the #CookForUkraine ones. Very bland and no flavour, though I wouldn’t let it affect the restaurant rating as it was for a good cause and £2 would be donated to charity.
We ordered the ugly noodles with veggies. It would tasted better without the onions, yet they tasted soo good overall and went perfectly well with the chilli sauce!
1000/10 would recommend! Only thing I did not like was the area where we were sat - we were seated downstairs, right under the stairs, thus it is very likely you’d hit your head every time you tried getting off the table.
E. S.
I was quite eager to try this places dumplings, as have heard good reviews,
But in all honesty I gotta say it was nothing special..
We ordered vegan platters I had jasmine tea and my partner had a pint of asahi.
To pay over £40 for just that, I think it should've been more impressive.
I was a little bit disappointed

This is a small corner restaurant in the heart of carnaby street. The restaurant mostly serves dumplings and even dumpling desserts, and they are absolutely delicious!! The portions are generous and the food is reasonably priced. The ambience of the place is quite cool and relaxed. The staff is also nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place, because the food is worth it!
A. A.
Really fun place to go I think. Food is creative you must love dumplings if you want to visit. Everything is a dumpling, which makes sense , cool deserts as well which I think is smart. Fairly pricey for 2 without drinks 57£ but well staffed and cool experience
V. D. G.
Gluten free dumplings are really tasty and I think this is the only place in London that has this option with different flavors you can choose from .
As coeliac this is pure heaven, I went on a Saturday for lunch and the staff was lovely and also really attentive to allergies in general so I felt in good hands. Yes it's a bit on a pricey side but come on coeliac friends, you can treat yourself with some good food every once in a while!
S. H.
My favorite was the prawn and chive! So delicious. Went on a Thursday and it was quite busy. Service sometimes quick sometimes slow. Had to ask for a few things multiple times but worth the wait. It’s quite fun to look at all the different coasters.
J.
Amazing little place! All of the dumplings have a signature taste and pricing is absolutly fair for london city. You should try the negroni drink, i liked it a lot.
P. G.
Nice little spot, have both inside and outside seating, food was good, value for money if you get the weekday lunch deals at £10
j. b.
Really lovely and fun staff, and the food was out of this world! The pork and duck were amazing, and I’d really recommend the cheeseburger ones! For dessert, the pecan pie ones were out of this world! I can’t wait to pop back in! ✨
M. Y.
Really nice Ukrainian style potato and onion varenyky, to help out the Ukraine war effort against Russia! Calm ambiance and friendly service.
S. W.
Service was really good and most of the dumplings are really tasty. It's definitely not a place you'll go for authentic dumplings but it's still very tasty.
C. M.
Hadn't booked but they found us a table. Food was fantastic and our waitress was really polite and friendly
L. J.
Great little dumpling place with fun and interesting flavours. I'd give this place 5 stars but service wasnt the best. I had the vegetarian selection, i couldnt pick a favourite dumpling, the pizza dumplings were fab though. Also had the noodles which were a fab extra!
V. L.
Amazing place with very nice and warm atmosphere, service is absolutely great. We tried almost all dumplings on the menu and truffle, prawns and margherita ones are the best, highly recommended! Will be back for sure!
S. F.
Cheeseburger dumpling. Who knew such a thing existed. Would be nice to be able to select more of your own choice for the mixed platters. But the dumplings are really tasty. The prawn ones, for a change, are not some vague pasty bits of mushed up prawn but actual whole prawns.
f. f.
Actually I loved them. My friend and I ordered the vegetarian platter and it was amazing specially with the sauce. They are a little bit pricey for what you get though, however, it’s not going to stop me from going back.
N. H.
This place is quite unassuming, easily passable, but don't walk by. Stop when you see the peacock blue, wall of hand illustrated gyozas and want a first rate plate. Menu is a great size for the indecisives amongst us, you can sample everything and not be too full. Really enjoyable. The cheeseburger variation is oddly moreish and the chip garnish thing alongside it was a great accompaniment. Worth the stroll to get here, great location, lovely lunch for a beautifully sunny day.
J. O.
Simply the best and most creative dumplings we have ever had, and the aubergine tempura is amazing. Highly recommended, these guys s need to franchise and retail.
J. P.
Cute place, nice staff, quick service! The food is really lovely, if a little overpriced. Don't come here to fill up if you're hungry, you'll go broke! But as something light, it was really delicious.
f. f.
Actually I loved them. My friend and I ordered the vegetarian platter and it was amazing specially with the sauce. They are a little bit pricey for what you get though, however, it’s not going to stop me from going back.
R. P.
Lovely lil dumpling place, small perfectly formed menu, real fresh tasty dumplings.
R. N.
Randomly went in and loved it 😍
R. A.
Slightly overpriced for the quantity of food you get. We ended up spending more than 20 per person and then had to go to the noodle place nearby because we were still hungry. Service is good, staff are friendly and accommodating. The dumplings taste good and are very creative. I loved the dessert dumplings. There aren't many tables here so groups of more than 6 may struggle to fit.
R. N.
It’s an exceptional place to get dumplings
A. D.
The stars are just for the food and speed of service, both very good. However, it was not a good dining experience. Went in on a weekday late afternoon, with my parents who were visiting from India. They told us that all the indoor tables on ground level were booked and if we wanted indoor, we had to sit in the basement and had a 1 hour limit. Basement was a smelly, claustrophobic little place, we couldn't wait to just leave. When we left about 40minutes later, only 1 table was occupied on ground level, the same as when we entered. Not sure why they weren't friendly or wanted us to sit in the main area which was pretty empty for the 1 hour slot they were giving us? I was quite embarrassed to have given my parents that experience.
M. R.
Amazing place. Excellent food and fantastic customer service. Great concept with drawing on the coasters!
J. T.
Dumplings were absolutely delicious and staff very friendly.
We paid £36 (included £4 service charge) for 12 salty dumplings, 6 sweet dumplings and a starter (tempura aubergine).
Very enjoyable but they serve dumplings, if you are one of those who needs a big amount to feel full maybe it's not your place.
E. D.
Fun little place, good dumplings!
P.
I love this place!! A cute little dumpling shop! I must say the dumplings were YUMMY!!! There is vegan and vegetarian options! During happy hour an order of a dumpling is £1 only! How cheap is this! We ordered a sweet potato side and a vegetarian platter and it was so good we had to order more!! Haha.. We enjoyed our meals! Just to note that the seatings are limited. Will definitely come back for more dumplings!
D. S.
I actually loved the dumplings of Ugly Dumpling restaurant. They were perfectly cooked (not those watery ones you find in most of the places), great flavors and delicious. The food menu is pretty small, which makes your experience better since you don’t have to spend much time choosing. We had 2 x 5 Dumplings - “One of each” and 1 x rice noodles bowl (the vegetarian dumpling are the best and everything inside of this bowl was extraordinarily good!)
The only reason I am not giving a 5 star review is due to the dumplings price (slightly overpriced).
I reckon you should try these dumplings if you are around Carnaby street, you won’t regret it!
K. N.
Very tasty and cute little dumpling restaurant just off Carnaby Street. Menu is quite experimental with unique fillings (think burger dumplings, halloumi and even dessert dumplings), but it also stays true to the classics like shrimp. You get 3 dumplings per plate so not the most filling of meals or the best value admittedly, so go during lunch hours if possible to get the best value with their special lunch menu with 4 plate selection of dumplings for £10.
B. B.
Cute small place at a very centric location.
Good for warm, original bites, mixing asian and mediterranean flavours. Most of the menu are dumplings with a wide range of flavours.
C. L.
Fantastic food and service. Lovely atmosphere
S. J.
Some of the most creative food I've had anywhere. Really tasty recipes, beautiful presentation. Service friendly, and good value too.
My advice: Go for the five mixed Dumplings for £6, and get a side order as well. The tempura was amazing.
I read one review that said the portions are a bit small. Well, they LOOK small, but the food is really filling. Tbh, if you're really hungry then just add another few Dumplings to your order - it'll cost you a massive £3...!
V. G.
Small cosy place for dumplings in Soho. Would be great for smaller groups 2-4 or take away. Dumplings are tasty but not zingy. If you are looking for spicy hot dumplings then this isn't the place. Sweet potato fries are amazing though. So is aubergine.
E. L. G.
Ugly Dumpling is not ugly at all but the cutest little cosy cafe, nestled in the heart of Carnaby. We ventured in for a weekday lunch stop and a taste of their inventive dumplings in Soho.
Ugly Dumpling offer a short wine list, a good beer selection and a range of cocktails. As it was a working lunch we opted for the Franklin & Sons ginger beer (£3) and Strawberry & Raspberry carbonated drink (£3).
The menu consists of platters of dumplings (vegan, veggie, meat or seafood) and there are street food style classics listed alongside new favourites. This includes some inventive flavours including cheeseburger and fish & chips!
We wanted to try these so opted for a platter of the new favourites (£8 for 5 pieces). We also chose a portion of the spinach & tofu dumplings(£3 for 3 pieces). The new favourites platter is served with flair and each dumpling comes with tasty garnishes. We LOVED the fish & chip dumpling – a fish stuffed dumpling served on a bed of tartare sauce complete with crispy potato tubes (chips!) on top. This unusual number had the familiar taste and textures that comprise good fish & chips and successfully packaged into dumpling form. The crispy potato made for great texture and the tartare was satisfyingly tangy. We will certainly be back for this alone.
The cheeseburger dumpling did indeed taste of a cheeseburger complete with the crispy potato garnish too and a drizzle of (what I think was) burger sauce. The others included ricotta & spinach, curried jack fruit (sweet and meaty) and mushroom & truffle. The one dish we chose from the street food classics menu, the spinach & tofu was the only one which was underwhelming. It felt too spinach heavy for our liking unfortunately.
There are a range of fresh and colourful sides to add to your dumplings. We had the seaweed & pickled cucumber salad with almond flakes (£5) adding a nice freshness to the array of dishes on the table. The tempura aubergine with golden syrup dressing and peanuts (£6) were also a tasty side, a bit batter heavy but overall I would order them again thanks to the delicious filling.
Ugly Dumpling’s mission of satisfying East or West culinary taste buds is certainly successful with their creative and inventive offerings. If you fancy something a little different in your dumpling, where the comfort of the traditional is still available (the aromatic duck is still one of their most popular) then pop in.
It is super easy to get to being just off Regent street so great as a meeting point or just resting your feet whilst shopping. We shall certainly be popping in again especially as they have a £1 dumpling happy hour from 3-6 pm (and offer 2 cocktails for £10). A fantastic place for dumplings in Soho!
J. L.
The dumplings were very good, I had the meat platter and it was a good mix. The staff were really friendly and provided a great service. The downside would be space, the restaurant was too small.
N. N.
We dropped in here on the way home for a quick snack as we were a bit peckish and didn't want to wait to get home before eating. Dumplings were nice as a snack/starter, but personally I'd have to eat loads of them before I'd come close to being full. So, even with the sides, for me it wouldn't feel like a proper meal. But nice if you're doing a food crawl or you feel like a light meal.
l.
Amazing dumplings in the heart of Soho. Really tasty, not oily and great variety of them! Price is ok aswell but probably won't do for a full dinner or lunch since you'll have to eat a lot of dumplings! Great for a quick bite, or light dinner/lunch. They also have beer , whine and coktails. Friendly and quick staff.
Y. P.
I’ve been here several times. Cozy place with nice ambiance. Dumplings are great, mushroom/truffle is always the best. They offer a lot of different options to mix and try different flavours. I’d recommend to visit here rather during daytime to fully enjoy the dumpling with some teas as night time is a bit .. too crowded and noisy
N. S.
Celebrated a birthday here - it's a cosy location, with really friendly staff and quick service. We loved the dumplings, including the vegan options! Our favourites were cheeseburger, pork belly, and salmon. The dessert dumplings are a particular highlight, especially the pecan dumpling. Slightly expensive, but it's typical pricing for Soho/Carnaby St.
N. B.
Amazing food! We took the vegeterian and meat platter to share with 2 and 2 sides and it was the perfect amount! Sooo tasty! Staff was really friendly and compliant with covid rules. We sat outside and it was lovely, will definitely come back!
N.
Amazing food, nice and helpful staff. We've took a few sharing plates to try all different dumpling! I'll definitely come again.
C. E.
The dumplings were delicious, there is an option to try a variety of dumplings which I would thoroughly recommend if you are unsure of what to order. They also have dumpling desserts on offer if you are a dumpling fanatic. The restaurant is very tiny and you will be seated extremely closely to others, however it is worth the visit.
C. H.
It’s a cosy little dumpling place that’s warm and friendly inside, just like a dumpling. They offer both meat and vegetarian options and platters. You get two of each dumpling on a platter and for the meat one (which I had the pleasure of experiencing) you get two smooth Chicken Satay dumplings, two perfect Pork Belly dumplings, two delicious Duck dumplings and two Cheeseburger dumplings! The cheeseburger dumplings were unique and surprising, but they tasted incredibly delicious. There is seating downstairs but it is a cosy affair so you may have to wait a bit. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, and offer a loyalty scheme where after your 10th order you get free dumplings!
V.
Nice and cozy restaurants with friendly staff. The dumplings were really good, I'll definitely come back to try the others. Recommenced!
R. M.
Delicious food, and good for all dietary requirements - all the sides are vegan, and they can also make the dumplings gluten free. Nice relaxed vibes, quite small but still we only had to wait half an hour to get a table. Definitely recommend!
s. f.
Popped in for lunch drawn in by the happy offer of 3 plates for £10 which was probably one plate more than I needed. Service was good and the food good for the price. The weird purple crisps on the salmon dumplings were old and chewy but the dumplings were all great. The broccoli would perhaps be better cut in half to make it easier to eat with chop-sticks. Luckily I have a big mouth but can see a potential struggle for others. The team working were great and looked after me like a prince!
R. C.
Pretty tasty dumplings. Personal favourites were the dessert ones. Fun and interesting flavours but a bit pricey
M. S. (.
Very nice vegan Dumplings. Would be nice to have a vegan dessert Dumpling as well. Friendly stuff and more seating downstairs. We recommend this place also with a kid. They can color a ugly dumpling for the wall.
K. B.
Great dumplings, gozy vibe, decent prices and fast service! Highly reccomend it! I like that they have so many different fillings, like truffle, hamburger and nutella 👌
A. R.
I just love this place! The dumplings are not less than delicious, with reasonable pricing. The staff are lovely and there's plenty of room downstairs so don't be disappointed if you see it's full from the outside. I LOVE the truffle dumplings.
S. R.
Great selection of dumplings, good drink list, great music. We took kids who were not that interested in the selection. I would say this is better for adults for sure. The coleslaw with broccoli was fantastic. The beer selection was limited however what was offered was a good selection. Service was good. Interiors really nice. Bathroom clean and smart!
R. P.
Lovely lil dumpling place, small perfectly formed menu, real fresh tasty dumplings.
L. K.
Interesting selection of dumplings but not enough condiments. We asked for chilli and they only had soy sauce. No siracha or vinegar or anything. Even the table next to us said the same. In the end we asked for cut chillis. Really need more condiments than just soy sauce.
D.
The place is cosy an small, the dumplings are ok.
Nothing too special sadly, the waitresses did not deliver the best customer service and it was quite expensive.
E. D.
This place is BANGING. Not even ashamed to say I put away 6 portions of dumplings + a healthy serving of tempura aubergine. My only criticism - too many tasty options! My diet is ruined!!!
O. T.
Excellent selection of dumplings, each was divine. Both meaty and vegetarian/vegan options available.
The deserts too were fab, even with a Halloween pumpkin special which was superb!
N. P.
Good vibe and decent food. Though it's not exceptional, the food came fast and the waiters did a great job.
R. S.
Really nice dumplings, with a variety of unique flavours such as 'cheeseburger' and 'margherita pizza' at a fair price.
J. A.
Delicious dumplings! Would definitely recommend and come again even though the service was a little slow.
W. C.
TL;DR: Traditional fried gyōza/gao-zi/jiao-zi/dumplings with modern fillings that capture the essence of different cuisines from around the world for a reasonal price.
The restaurant is super cozy and intimate with a good selection of cocktails and drinks as well as complimentary tap water. The staff are friendly and attentive removing finished dishes and asking if we needed anything else.
The food is very original and extremely delicious. The dumplings are similar to fried gyōza at Japanese restaurants but with a thicker skin for a better and chewier mouthfeel as well as to provide contrast to the delectable fillings.
Moreover there is a thoughtful selection of sides to compliment the dumplings; I had the tempura aubergine and *ugly* noodles which I both highly recommend to help fill you up as well as for the taste. The ugly noodles has the trademark *wok hei* or slight char flavour which is always a hallmark of Asian Street food and cuisine.
Also innovative dumpling fillings such as cheeseburger among others were a welcome surprise.
You can expect to pay around £10 per person on a weekday if you go for their lunch deal or around £15 if you order extra dumplings.
Highly recommended.
C. Ö.
Different types of dumplings. Not quite sure if they were that tasty but the service and the environment is nice. I loved their dumpling branding. You can have 3 different dish options for £10 in lunch time 😊
M. S.
Really good food! We ordered a veggie and meat platters - both delicious! Same with the sweet smoked potatoes as a side, amazing. One star reduced for the service: firstly we were sat upstairs and then moved cause there was a reservation (we reserved ourselves). Another point was that we ordered a side that was not available - we were not aware of this until we asked about it later. Overall, really nice dumpling place!
M. T.
A quirky little dumpling restaurant (booking is encouraged - it’s really quite little) serving up delicious platters of dumplings and sides of aubergine and noodles. The chicken satay and duck dumplings were the stars of the show for me!
B. D.
Good location bang in the middle of Soho.
Decent drinks (bar red whine which I'm told didn't impress). Dumplings looked delish - not a great choice of vegan options though (my only reservation).
We sat outside but the 'inside' looks small. But then again, I haven't explored so who knows.
Very nice staff.
S. C.
A review for their gluten free (GF) dumplings:
Firstly, as a Coeliac, it is great to have somewhere that makes GF dumplings. Secondly, I can see why lots of places don’t do this as they were quite thick and tough pastry. This meant they weren’t hugely enjoyable and so I personally wouldn’t go back.
The service was also incredibly slow / it was impossible to get the two wait staffs’ attention (even though the restaurant wasn’t anywhere near full and they weren’t busy).
M. T.
The food was good. We were basically ushered out after 45 minutes. We said we wanted to order dessert and the first lady went to get us a menu and never returned, the next lady said we couldn't order one because someone else needed our table. Tables are meant to be yours for 1.5 hours and we noticed that other people who were there before us were still sitting. Just shoddy really we were so disappointed. Wouldn't return, the dumplings were not worth the service
y. m.
I’d come here again for Lunch. Had the lunch deal - £10 for 3 dishes. A good amount of food in the moment, I did leave full. But it didn’t keep me full all afternoon and I felt the urge to nibble. I had the aromatic duck - really tasty, and the prawns/chive - my fav, tasty and nice chunks of prawns. Dumplings were also cooked well with crisp edges and a nice thin skin. A little on the oily side. The seaweed cucumber salad was a little disappointing - I think it was the dressing. Milky creamy, just odd with not much Flavour. Didn’t really match with the salad. Come with 2-3 people to taste a whole bunch of different dumplings.
L. Z.
Best dumplings I’ve had in my entire life!
And it’s not an over exaggeration.
£5 for 3 dumplings but I think it’s definitely worth it!
A. M.
Very creative menu of various types of dumplings. Dumplings are absolutely amazing. Mushroom is the best!!! Reasonable price. Platter 8 dumplings 11 pounds.
S. J. T.
Amazing little spot hidden away in the Newburgh Quarter in Soho. The dumpling flavours were all very distinct and tasty, and the variety of dietary options were awesome! The tempura aubergine side and ugly noodles are 10/10 and a must-try.
D. D.
Brilliant service. Not the best dumplings ive ever had considering ive been around asia but a great variety. Not too pricey and not too. Awesome selection of drinks
L. S.
We stumbled in here looking for a quick bite to eat and to warm up a bit. You know how it goes, the best things come unexpectedly.
Don’t be put off by the name, the Dumplings are pretty on the inside as well as on the outside. Who would have thought you could get a whole sunday roast in a Dumpling?
W. M.
An OK experience overall. Biggest complaint is how little you get for your money! This might be alright if the quality of the dumplings were astounding, but I found them just decent.
Another gripe is having a service charge of 12.5% added on to the bill automatically. Despite the service being a bit zombified and unenthusiastic, they were at least attentive, so I would have happily added on 10%, but having 12.5% added for me riled me a little given the already steep prices.
Overall, you’re basically paying for the location, which is really nice - we sat outside and it was extremely pleasant to be there. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t hurry back.
H. R.
We tried veg, but I think the non veg range of dumplings would be better.
Veg were a bit bland for our taste.
S. C.
Great place, cosy and great music. Loved the dumplings, even if a little oily. Very good value for money!
G. C.
Lovely place by Carnaby street! Dumplings were great, we were spoilt for choice! Definitely popping back here again :)
H. S. W.
Oh so very tasty. Also highly recommend the dessert dumplings.
S. M.
Amazing food and a *must try* when in London. Great place, friendly staff, huuuge variety of choices makes Ugly Dumplings an ideal place for everyday lunch with a date of simply to hang around with friends.
For me, what I like the most was the fact that they use fresh ingredients, everything was superb and tasty! 👌🏻 5/5!
M. S.
Fun restaurant with quick service and friendly staff. Dumplings are nice but not amazing.
M. R.
Amazing place. Excellent food and fantastic customer service. Great concept with drawing on the coasters!
A. C.
Interesting flavours well executed, although if you are really hungry then make sure to order an extra platter or some sides
M. J.
Fantastic dumplings, we got the vegetarian platter + noodles (~£20)
2 * 4 different dumplings

Thank You For The Delicious Gluten Free Dumplings!
What a wonderful friendly and delicious place this is. Clean modern and curated menu. Fast delicious food and all healthy and GF options, really a treat highly recommended and will return!
R. S.
Really great dumplings with some fun twists on classic dishes. Staff were really friendly and food was great. I'd recommend booking a reservation as we saw a lot of walk ins get turned away as it's very popular.
T. O.
The Dumplings were fantastic will definitely go back. Just which they had bigger portion sizes. 3 smaller in size Dumplings for £5 is a bit much. But I highly recommend based on flavour and look.
G. O.
Me and my friends went on the weekend and we all had the vegan dumplings. They were great! I really liked the spinach one and would recommend you try it. Next time I go to Carnaby street or Oxford street, I would definitely come back and order them again
C. B.
Great little spot, good atmosphere, quality dumplings and well priced. Maybe not ‘Traditional’ but clues in the name 😉
A. M.
My new favourite restaurant in London!! The dim sum is so good, I ordered the same main and side all over again in the same sitting 😂
J. H.
The food would get a 5 star rating 100% but unfortunately we were told our table was needed by the next booking. We had only been there for an hour and had booked the table for an hour and a half. We still had half a bottle wine to finish and weren’t even allowed to stay for that so were put in to the dark corner of the room whilst we rushed the rest of our wine. Before we could even finish the last sip we were told that this table also was needed for another booking and we were asked to leave.
It’s simply not good enough to ask a table to leave before the end of their reservation.
Food was indeed fantastic but I certainly won’t be eating here again.
N. M.
The dumplings are delicious especially the mushroom and truffle and the prawn and chive dumplings. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
S. C.
Best dumplings in town. Delicious fusion flavours. Will be coming again to have more of the market classics, the fantastic watermelon pickle and burnt corn sides.
c. d. n.
Mushroom and truffle dumplings were absolutely divine. So were the tempura aubergines. Service was great too, all staff were lovely and looked after me and my friend very well 😊
M. E.
Dumplings were very good and the platters were great for trying different ones. Especially enjoyed the cheeseburger dumpling. Nutella dessert dumpling was maybe a little bit dry but still very tasty. I'd recommened to book a table as the seats are limited and it does fill up very quickly.
S. V.
Delicious dumplings, beautifully presented. Great service. Will def be going back. Thank you
L. C.
Had wanted to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint. Lovely dumplings and delicious aubergine tempura. Staff very friendly and helpful
R. N.
It’s an exceptional place to get dumplings
T. K.
Food taste very good but the portion a bit small (even for a person not that big eatery like me). Seating environment acceptable.
J. C.
Dumplings creative but do not expect authentic Dumplings. Staff very friendly and accommodating, a range of drinks (outside patio bar feel). Pork belly Dumplings probably the best, followed by the duck one and mushroom & Trüffel
P. G.
What a brilliant little crack pot restaurant, unusual but brilliant Asian fusion dumplings.
Eat them all. I'll be back soon
P. S.
Brilliant little hole in the wall off Carnaby Street with a delicious but limited menu of, you guessed it, dumplings and some accompaniments. I think the platters which have eight (8) dumplings for £13.50 are probably the best way to experience these tiny treats.
I tried the meat platter, with one substitution for a food allergy, which contained four aromatic duck, two pork belly and two cheeseburger dumplings. The pork belly was good, the cheeseburger was oddly satisfying but the star of the platter in my opinion was the aromatic duck - wow what flavour!
If you value quirky little places that serve interesting & high quality little plates I would suggest you visit the Ugly Dumpling. It's a delicious little place!

The small venue has done an exquisite job of adapting to the times and creating an outdoor seating environment with heaters and parasols. Enjoyed the time there this afternoon and would come again.
Four out of five stars because the waiter told us that the teas are non refillable and refused to bring any warm water to the table. However, it appeared the gentleman reflected on his rash decision to snap at us and subsequently brought us a refreshment cup of water for my mother’s cup of peppermint teas.

The classic dumplings are fairly tasty but you can get them cheaper closer into chinatown and whilst I enjoyed trying the modern platter I wouldn't bother going again for them. The mochi was extremely underwhelming and a bit dry. Not a bad experience just not amazing
S. G.
Had a great experience.
Food was good, staff very helpful and friendly and we even found a spot on a bank holiday weekend!
Ingredients are an international mix so it's more interesting than an average Chinese (not to say Chinese isn't super tasty!)
Highly recommended. 👌
k. g.
I am not sure all the flavours worked but when they did it was superb and it was really nice the manager came out and asked for our feedback. Our waiter was very patient and lovely.
M. C.
Was lots of new staff on so was slightly slow. Ordered the dessert dumpling platter and after waiting half an hour, decided to ask how far it was only to be told there were none left which was disappointing; we shouldn't have been allowed to order it if it wasn't in stock. We noticed it was on the bill after we paid so it had obviously been through the till yet were never informed until we chased, so unsure how that breakdown in comms happened! Manager was great and dumplings were amazing (as expected).
T. A.
We had the favourites platter and the aubergines. It was absolutely delicious and the dumplings paired so well with the chilli oil. I recommend the spring roll dumplings. The service was friendly too!
B. D.
Cute little place, I enjoyed the chicken stay dumplings and the beetroot dumplings the most. Drinks were pretty average.
A. P.
Best dumplings I ever tried! Every single dumpling is a masterpiece.
S. B.
Food is presented well but doesn't stand out in terms of taste. The service isn't that great either. The staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than paying attention to the customers.
G. H.
really good small plates, quick and friendly staff and very reasonable pricing.
M. A.
Fantastic staff excellent food. Great and fun place to eat and catch up. Highly recommended
A. G.
Blanca is the best there ! Great customer service and amazing sunny place! Really love it !
K. B.
The food was good! The Nutella dumpling was amazing! Unfortunately for me the variety wasn't present in the menu
M. W.
Tasty dumplings with vegan/vegetarian options. Friendly service. For dumpling enthusiasts, I would recommend an authentic oriental dining place.
J. G.
Excellent dumplings with ususual fillings. The cheeseburger ones taste very much like a McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries (in a good way)!
S. L.
Great little lunch deal - top quality dumplings!
I would recommend booking a table on the ground floor - the basement has less atmosphere and was a little dark.
E. S.
The dumplings all taste great. The service was fab, the waitress was so lovely and made us feel so welcome.
a. c.
Great vegan & vegetarian dumpling platters! Dipping sauce spicy, good. Spring roll best vegan flavour in my opinion

Great food and service. It's a bit small but it adds to the charm. The aubergine tempura is a must.
T. B.
This is the best dumplings I ever tasted. Be sure to try the duck dumplings!!!
R. N.
Randomly went in and loved it 😍
M. K.
Really yummy food and well priced. The only thing I didn't like was just how loud it was. We were sat near a large group who seemed to like the sound of their own voices a little too much - it's a small restaurant so there was no need for that. Some sound proofing would go a long way.
N. A.
Lovely staff and lovely food!
The lunch deal is definitely recommended for newbies, but personally the mushroom and truffle dumplings are my fave!
You can also buy some frozen dumplings for your own UD meal in! Perfect for the upcoming lockdown.
It is a bit pricey for the portions, but is perfect for a light meal!
May want to book a table, as it can get busy. There’s also a downstairs area that is very cute and cozy!:))))))
S. M.
Simply delicious - great service, but the food was the star, will be making a beeline to visit again!
A. G.
Absolutely delicious gluten free dumplings! Amazing!
N. K.
Yummy!
V. B.
Very tasty dumplings, especially the hoisin duck and chicken sate, yum!
A. K.
Really nice place with tasty dumplings +vegan friendly :)
We tried almost the whole menu, my favorite ones are mushroom, prawns and mackerel.
M. O.
Food is always amazing, service always dreadful. Top marks for the vegan dumplings and the ugly noodles.
Z. B.
Nothing ugly about these dumplings, they were the best I've ever had! Great food, great service and great fun colouring in the dumpings while waiting for our food. Thanks!
M. B.
Delicious dumplings restaurant in soho. The dumplings aren't traditional but they were all so tasty! We were taking advantage of eat out to help out so it was really good value but even at normal prices it was worth it. Highly recommend
J. T.
Delicious dumplings with a twist. We ordered various of them and all have been super tasty.
My favorite ones are definitely the mushroom ones. :)
Apart from that, it’s mostly packed and there’s not a lot of space, so you might need to make a reservation.
Because it’s small, it is very noisy most of the time.
The staff is nice and helpful.
Pricing is straight forward, but a bit expensive for the amount of food you get.
All over it’s a nice place if you want to try something different.
T. C.
It was quite a fun experience! First encounter with the ugly dumplings was at maltby market. I'm generally not a fan of dumplings but they really do a great job. The place is "cozy" and the waiters are slightly left-handed but that's what makes the place great :)
I had the vegetarian selection, which was delicious. Particularly the spring role flavour. And the tempura aubergine. Shockingly good. And its cheap. Great food quality, great experience.
D. E.
Will definitely be returning, the dumplings were very tasty
c. m.
The best dumplings I've ever had. Super affordable, definitely get a few platters to share if you're in a group!
e. n.
Definitely not a traditional cuisine, this cosy place offers dumplings that suit all tastes. The staff is very friendly.
K. A.
So good! Food and cocktails were great
P. T.
Cosy little place near Carnaby Street. Really tasty dim sum; definitely try the 'hamburger dim sum' and great service too.
N. M.
Amazing food! Price is really reasonable, with a 3 dishes for £10 lunchtime offer. Each dumpling dish has three dumplings. Had to order more, they were so delicious! I cant give specific recommendations as we tried almost everything (including the dessert dumplings), and it was all delicious!
R.
Unusual combination of flavours. Which, is fine. But doesn't really hit that dumpling craving spot. Visit if you want to try some different flavour combinations some of which are a bit of hit and miss.
For the price and the slow service I am sticking to my usual haunts
S. I. (.
Affordable, crispy dumplings 😊 well cooked prawn dumplings, was pleased with the food and nice environment.
J. J.
The best dumplings in London. Hands down. With the coolest staff and wonderful offerings. I'd come back here every week if I could.
Z. A. P.
Really cool place to go to for lunch! We got the 3 for £10 deal
K. A.
The Vegan dumplings are delicious. Also the Nutella dumplings are amazing. Really cute place for lunch.
J. M. P.
This is the place I never regret going to, there are just a lot of amazing options!
I just have a suggestion, you should create an option to choose the dumplings for a platter. I got the "One of each" (which is one of each of the classic options) but I really wanted to try the Halloumi dumpling!
B. C.
I'm not gonna say that I'm an expert on dumplings, but I am going to say that these people make the best dumplings I've ever had. A great variety of meat, vegetarian and even vegan options, including some really interesting and novel ideas (try the cheeseburger dumpling!!) Also the rice noodle and broccoli sides were delicious. There are some great sweet dumplings for dessert, and finally the staff were all super friendly and helpful.
A. Z.
Everything was perfect! Our favourite spot in London (especially for cozy date nights or evenings with friends). Aromatic duck, cheeseburger or strawberry cheesecake in a perfect gyoza - creative and delicious. So good to have you back ❤️
N. K.
Loved this place, a very limited menu consisting of mostly dumpling based food. There are some of you more traditional fare such as a prawn and chive dumpling but these are accompanied by some more out there options such as a pizza dumpling and a hamburger dumpling. The genius of this is that you can try all the different options. All that we tried were quite delicious.
There are also some side dishes that are not dumpling based, the glass noodles with vegetables were a highlight.
The dessert options are also dumpling based and were all frankly delicious.
The location is small so make sure you book in advance, very highly recommended.
S. A.
Apologies for previous low rating, I think it must have happened in error. very sorry and hope this did not cause you any further issues.
F. P.
Extremely tasty dumplings, plus the fried aubergines are a must try. The staff is very attentive and makes you feel at home. Only drawback is the limited space, but hey, who wouldn’t get a little bit closer for really good dumplings :)
C. D.
Menu is interesting and simple. I was really impressed with some of the choices especially cheesecake dumpling and nutella dumplings. But was really disappointed that these were deep fried. Service was not great and seating is very squashed. However, the other dumplings were very nice.
T. S.
Ugly Dumpling has some of the best dumplings in Soho! The vegan and vegetarian options are limited for the dumplings, but extremely tasty you won’t be disappointed! The side options are very veggie friendly and also VERY tasty. I come here occasionally, more often than most places with all the choices in London, and am always craving more by the time I leave.
A. C.
Not bad at all. We went during happy hour where all dumplings are £1 each which definitely made it good value for money. If you want authentic, traditional dumplings I would still head to China town but these were definitely tasty if you fancy something a bit different and can excuse the odd one that was too thick.
N. H.
Dumplings were tasty. Recommend the pork belly, duck and mushroom and truffle (along with sweet potato, of course).
Staff were very friendly and accommodating, took a couple of asks to get the bill at the end but that certainly won’t stop me going back.
К. М.
Such a nice place! The food is delicious! I highly recommend the dumplings with lamb and prawn. My friend , who is not a big fan of meat, said that spinach and tofu dumplings were superb.
Loved the staff and the atmosphere in the restaurant.
Will definitely come back!
D. C.
I had the sweet dumplings at Ugly Dumpling - Filled with Nutella and pecan pie. Absolutely delicious and lovely service as well. Definitely recommend.
R. S.
Good small place... lovely vegan and vegetarian selection. Had vegan platter plus prawn dumplings ... top for us was the Aubergine tempura. Good service , cocktails looked good (didn’t have one) Ate well for 40 for 2 including drinks and service
M. D.
Amazing food and excellent customer service! We’ll definitely come back!
T. E.
*DOG FRIENDLY* We like anywhere that we can take our pooch. It's a bonus if the food is great and the Ugly Dumpling did not disappoint Very tasty dumplings, great variety for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The love dogs. My only negative would be that the service was poor and the downstairs doesn't have any atmosphere. It's cramped and soulless. Great fine. Will return.
L.
Delicious dumplings but lazy service!
The food is amazing and these are perhaps the best dumplings I have ever had, but damn the device is bad!
Staff were not rude by any means but they seemed more like they were hanging out and took ages to get their attention to order/pay bill. They also were constantly dropping stuff
However, food tasty enough that it outdoes the service and I will be bacjk!
M. H.
Love this place, it has a fun laid back atmosphere and a wide variety of food. Of course you can order for yourself but I recommend getting a variety and sharing with whoever you are with. There are just so many good flavours this way you get to try them all. Stand out dishes: the winter special (pork and sage dumplings with apple dipping sauce), also the chicken satay and the spring roll dumpling. I also had the Ugly rice noodles which were delicious, they were light and full of flavour. Vegetables were toasty and yum not just soggy and steamed like they can be at other places. There is also an undertone of citrus which is unusual and really yum! Didn't try any of the desert ones but have made my friends go to try them and they say they are great.
A. N.
What made this place was the warm and friendly service from Shy. Not only were the dumplings amazing! But the cocktails and warm atmosphere were beautifully crafted by the incredible Shy. Highly recommended for a deliciously enjoyable evening!
K. R.
Really good but you pay the price more because of the location than for the food.
D. R.
Delicious mixed plates of dumplings (meat, vegetarian and vegan), with sides to match.
For the location the price is a bargain, we ordered a delicious bottle of Romanian wine to go with the meal which was crisp and fruity also very reasonably priced.
This restaurant is a real gem in the busy cultural bubble that is soho.
T. P.
An average experience...A group of four of us went here last week after work and whilst we knew there might be better options for dumplings around the corner in Chinatown we were curious how the fun menu might taste. In truth everything was rather average. After being seated we asked the waitress how much food we should order to share between us and although she did give advice she seemed rather put out by our questions. The dumplings and sides arrived and they were ok, the satay chicken dumplings and tempura aubergine side were pretty tasty. It was all just a bit over-priced and under delivered but I suppose the rent must be sky high for that spot.
J.
Good food for a quick snack however quite overpriced for something as easy as noodles
T. C.
Stumbled across this place after wandering around Carnaby St. Came for happy hour, stayed for the dumplings! Service left a bit to be desired but the dumplings were delicious! We got the 6 piece vegetarian plate and the only regret is we didn't get the 8 piece. They were yum!
R. Y.
Delicious food and great decor! I've had some of the dumplings at one of their market stalls in the past, and was pleasantly surprised to find they've opened a restaurant with even more options. Will definitely be coming back to sample more flavours.
A. M.
Delicious dumplings! Really enjoyed our meal here, the staff were super friendly and taking Covid-19 seriously without it ruining the atmosphere of the restaurant. Looking forward to going back.
S. P.
Pretty tasty food! We got the variety platters and while not every dumpling is a winner (looking at you, cheeseburger dumpling), they're mostly great!
The place was a bit cramped and loud, but this is London, so that's to be expected, I suppose.
T. T.
Definitely creative menu with interesting flavours, however a bit pricy for dumplings. This easy Chinese staple has somehow become fancy and expensive...I just wanted simple dumplings. The menu is quite simple and somehow you end up ordering a lot, which will add up the bill, too. Definitely worth a try, but if you are happy with more simple and cheap stuff, go to Chinatown.
J. K.
Nice dumplings I would prefer prawns its the best
R. C.
Food was great and the prices were good! We did have an awful time trying to pay for the bill though. They refused to split it in different amounts even after one person paid for their own bill... Kinda ruined the experience. Lovely dumplings, though.
C. W.
Amazing and cute little corner restaurant, the range of flavours for dumplings are good and even have odd flavours that you would never think of with dumplings. The best time to visit is between 3pm-6pm where they have a dumpling happy hour, 1 dumpling for £1 what more could you want!
A. K.
Delicious asian and fusion food in a cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend the classic dumplings.
C. M.
Fantastic Dumplings, full of flavour, and the staff are so nice! Great location. We will be back!
K. S.
Very good value for Central London. Tasty food, good cocktails. Could use more veg options, dessert was disappointing.
J. W.
Dumplings are very unique. Great spot for a quick bite. Lunch prices are unbeatable for the quality of food and service. Must try....also, I might add, this was my first time in London and it's a hidden gem in my book.
K. M.
Amazing dumplings! The service was really good and they've set up the restaurant well for distancing. They also have a lot of gluten free options which tasted so good!
M. E.
Had lunch here today - terrible social distancing measures. The staff were great on disinfecting everything, however it was normal customer capacity in operation. Ie - I counted 13 people in the small eat-in space of approximately 5x5 metres.
J. W.
Wowee honestly my absolute favourite place to eat while visiting Carnaby Street
W. W.
Best meal out I have had in ages. The dumplings are incredible. Also the staff are super nice, they also handled an aggressive customer really professionally. You have got to go here !
C. C.
Beautiful dumplings that taste even better than they look. A must go restaurant in my opinion.
V. M.
Excellent costumer service, friendly service, they answered all my questions about the food items and allergens. Fabulous beetroot and goat cheese dumplings, definitely to try!
A. M.
I came for lunch here the other day and it was fab. I have recommended it to a lot of people after my experience and I am so excited to return. Incredibly well valued for what you get, amazing different tastes of food, it is a hidden gem. There is such a variety of what you can taste on the menu and the aubergine side was epic. Highly recommend and great service to top it all off.
R. M.
A fun alternative to traditional Oriental dumplings. I had an enjoyable meal, the restaurant is not that big and more laid back and informal. I believe they have a basement room also.
I had the cheeseburger dumplings (heard correct), worth a try.
D. v. R.
Really tasty dumplings, especially the prawn one. Courgette and halloumi one was also very tasty. Being critical the spinach & tofu one was slightly bland, as was the beetroot noodle side - we had to add some of the dipping sauce to improve it. Also, the decision to use iPads and have the set up very modern meant that the staff spent a lot of time confused and looking quite unsure what was going on at times. Not their fault but the managerial decision. Would definitely come back though for the quality of the dumplings.
L. B.
Very tasty food, great vegetarian options, and a lovely cosy restaurant.
J. P.
Utterly delicious! A great range of choice. Would definitely recommend!
S. m.
Delicious dumplings. We had two mixed platters. Portions were small for the price but none the less delicious.
E. D.
Perfect for a quick snack around Carnaby Street. Service quick. Goyoza all okay. Interesting flavours but not the best I ever had. Not something I would call a "special restaurant." But if you want to try a cheeseburger gyoza you found the place.
B. L.
Always my first option when it comes to dumplings. I love the Satay Chicken ones and the Cheeseburger ones too. Great veggie options, sides and happy hour! One of my favorite places in London! 10/10
C. S.
Prawn Dumplings were excellent . the staff could be more friendly. Despite enjoyed the food and drink and it was a happy Saturday.
J. J.
So tasty. Lovely to snack on dumplings with a pint. My favourite was the prawn dumpling.
s. 0.
It was a nice, quaint spot. Small but the food was fantastic! I went in January 2020 when things were normal, I'm hoping they are able to reopen post covid, it's on my list!!
A. F.
As you get hungry from around the corner’s wine bar, this gem is the place to be when you want to satisfy your appetite with delicious dumplings. Completely recommend it! From the food to the casual-attentive service!
N. K.
Love it! The £10 lunch special (any 3 plates for £10) is great, and I thoroughly enjoyed my order (pork belly dumplings, duck dumplings, and aubergine tempura). I will definitely be back and have recommended it to all my friends!
L. M.
A great little place for dinner & drinks! Fabulous and concise menu...the shrimp dumpling were amazing & you MUST try the aubergine tempura! Would definitely try to eat upstairs - a much nicer & quieter vibe. Overall a lovely place for a good night out!
S. V.
Really tasty, a little expensive for the portion sizes though
P. J.
Really not worth it, I could give a detailed account of every aspect of the food that wasn't perfect, but that would be a waste of your time reading it. Just trust me, I know the menu looks nice, and dumplings are hard to get wrong, but somehow, the results aren't tasty at all. Especially the exciting ones (e.g cheeseburger flavour) just taste exactly how you expect them to: maccies burger sauce flavour, with some ground beef. Don't give them your money, there are a hundred better cafés nearby.
T. R.
Great Food, very cosy, awesome service
G. B.
Really like this place. The food is great, the variety of different fillings keeps changing. I would recommend this place if you want to taste many different dumplings at a reasonable price! The waitresses there were always nice and friendly.
C. J.
Amazing service from Shy and by far the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had! A lot of time and attention went into serving us our food and drinks and it shows!! 10/10 would recommend!! Thank you for making my birthday treat extra special!
o. c.
The food was good and the price was fair.
If you are a meat or seafood lover then this is not the place for you as options are limited. However if you are vegetarian or food lover, there is a good selection for you here with great flavours and combinations.
The place is quaint and small seating around 15-20ppl max.
The service is below average which brought the whole overall experience down.
Upon arrival yesterday, we went there and there were no tables available, so we left our number to the waitress whom agreed to call us when a table was free.
We went to PIX tapas close by for some wine and tapas which was nice. After an hour we received no phone call so walked back to find the place with plenty of tables. The waitress apologised and claimed her phone ran out of credit when she tried calling.
Moving on from her excuse we seated ourselves and ordered our food. The dishes came out slow between servings and the waitresses would go out for the occasional cigarette during these servings which was unpleasant. They would go in and out through the front door and gusts of cold evening wind would surge through the small restaurant whilst customers were eating.
The table next to us complained as their bill arrived incorrectly and the overall atmosphere in ugly dumpling was generally unpleasant.
My family and I have a small michelin star restaurant and enjoy dinning somewhere new every week. We pride ourselves in the service and food we deliver for a small run family restaurant. I understand that each restaurant has their own objectives and goals in what they aim to deliver but ultimately customer service and experience should always be important.
The point I am trying to make is not matter how big or small you are, service matters. This place has so much potential but lacks the basics of serving food and general care for their paying customer and diners.
L. B.
Unique restaurant with an interesting range! The service here was excellent, and great value during happy hour. The dessert menu could be improved (Crunchy dumpings aren't as tasty as the fried/boiled variety!), but the main dishes were good.
m.
Amazing! Seriously beyond expectations. Little cosy place with good atmosphere and joyful music. Staff is very sweet and professional made me feel like I just popped in to see old friends. What I really liked is that u can order selection of dumplings with different taste and not to stick to one. Thank you guys
S. M.
Great, tasty dumplings! Good price. The side dishes go well paired with the dumplings and are full of flavour. Try the tempura aubergine side and the lamb & Harissa dumplings are my favourite. Will be BACK!
D. H.
Loved this tiny place in the heart of soho.great food and lovely staff.they have a 3 course lunch offer for £10 which is great.I loved the prawn chive dumplings and glass noodle!
G. H.
I discovered Ugly dumpling about a month ago by chance. I work in the West End area so I'm often looking for new and tasty spots for lunch. Ugly Dumpling is my new fave! The menu is short and sweet and consists of (you guessed it) - dumplings! Or gyozas or any of the other names you might like to call it. There isn't much on the menu other than this but they have got it perfect. I'm a huge gyoza fan and I have to say there's nowhere I've had them that are as tasty as here. Plus they do super cool twists on classic flavours and there's so many new things to try. Their lunch deal is 3 dishes for £10 which is more than enough for lunch. Try the cheeseburger or pork belly - you won't regret it!
H. A.
Cute small cozy place with delicious dumplings. Friendly and helpful staff.
Ordered 4 dishes of dumplings and 2 sides for 2 of us. We both were full after the meal. Would go back again for sure.
M. G.
Really cool independently run place. Very tasty food and a new take on Chinese dumplings. The cheeseburger dumpling sounds wrong but it tastes soo right! Delicious!
O. F.
This is a cute little restaurant near Carnaby Street which does amazing dumplings. However, service was quite slow and the downstairs area feels quite oppressive. I would say more of a quick lunchtime spot than an evening meal place.
E. C.
Nice place on the corner in Carnaby Street. Really tasty dumplings and with a lot of choice, make sure you try them all (you can order one for each type).
You won't be filled so order a side dish (the tempura aubergine were amazing)
bit expensive for the quantity of food but definitely worth for the quality.
B. K.
Great to see a dumpling specialist open in London!
This used to be Pitt Cue Co, and the main downside of this location is still there - the squashed, claustrophobic basement seating area. Try to get a table upstairs on the ground floor if you can.
Lunch special of any 3 plates of dumplings for £10 is a great deal. Lots of interesting flavours - definitely give the cheeseburger dumpling a try!
C. M.
The dumplings were lovely but you’d have to order a lot to make it a meal and feel full
K. W.
Good service and.a nice change for dinner. Pre-booked and sat outside under a heater which was fine. Will be back 👍🙂
E. A.
Ugly Dumpling is a great place for good food, drinks and wonderful service! All the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. Our waitress was very bubbly and explained the choices well. The atmosphere was casual and very cosy and the food was exceptional. I look forward to returning whenever I am in the Carnaby Street area.....a must must go if you are nearby!
O.
Delicious dumplings. Not too expensive either, but portions fairly small. I got the veggie platter, which wouldn’t have been enough for dinner if I hadn’t accidentally had a snack beforehand.

I Love dumplings so can’t really complain! The dumplings came out warm (not hot) which was the only shame. But lovely staff and a very cosy eat in the middle of busy London.

Found this little gem by accident while taking a walk in the little streets near Carnaby st. Amazing customer service. We were served by 2 girls who easily explained the menu and the promotions. It's a dumpling restaurant so you may wonder hiw the ordering works at first.
The place offers good promotions on food and drinks. And you can have a dumpling filled with nutella!
Recommended to both visitors and locals

Very tasty, but too many tables and to small downstairs
A. M.
Delicious dumplings! Really enjoyed our meal here, the staff were super friendly and taking Covid-19 seriously without it ruining the atmosphere of the restaurant. Looking forward to going back.
L. N.
Best dumplings I’ve ever had
T.
Very tasty dumblings and friendly staff
К. М.
Such a nice place! The food is delicious! I highly recommend the dumplings with lamb and prawn. My friend , who is not a big fan of meat, said that spinach and tofu dumplings were superb. …
L. G.
Really delicious dumplings! Mushroom dumpling was a fave
T. S.
Ugly Dumpling has some of the best dumplings in Soho! The vegan and vegetarian options are limited for the dumplings, but extremely tasty you won’t be disappointed! The side options are very veggie friendly and also VERY tasty. I come here …
M. V. G.
Cosy place, delicious dumplings!
E. K.
Great food and service and amazing helpful staff.

Fusion dumpling restaurant in a very trendy area of London. Not much I can add to the already stellar reviews other than
- mega tasty dumplings
- mega nice location
- mega nice prices
- you can do takeaway
Why risk getting scammed with pricey mediocre dumplings in ChinaTown when you can walk 10 min more and taste something special?
A. G.
Fantastic evening - wonderful food and ambience. Always such a great experience here - a hidden gem if you’re looking for a relaxed and delicious meal in the heart of soho
L. I.
It is a very cosy place! They have options for vegetarians and vegans! The food is amazing and service is outstanding even when the place is fully packed. If you are fan of dumplings you must visit this place!
A. D.
Really great dumpling menu which veers away from the traditional Chinese fillings. It's quite small though, so not great for large groups of 10 or more . Good for small groups or an intimate date
A. T.
Unique dishes (cheeseburger, fish and chip dumplings) is quite appealing but portions are quite small. A quick pit stop as an appetizer before a larger meal elsewhere could be the best option here
P. G.
Mains were good, dessert dumplings were ok. They had gone quite hard from deep frying, also the restaurant was very small, cramped and too loud to be able to have a conversation
J. B.
Amazing food! Had all the vegan options and they were delicious. Nice vibe here also, friendly staff and a cute interior. Must be tried!
C. H.
The staff were really lovely and the dumplings were very good. Enjoyed the creative dumplings. Cheeseburger was... different haha, but the duck and pork were excellent.
C. W.
the rolls royce of the dumpling! this is much better than regular dumplings. it is like dumplings have met italian ravioli and a french michelin star chefs. the filling are just amazing! very refined and tasty dumplings in a very casual place.
H. R.
Would certainly return! Tried the savory duck and mushroom truffle dumplings.
B. J.
Delicious dumpling selection, fast and friendly service. Reasonably priced for central London.
S. S.
Dumplings were great and the staff were super friendly. the veggie stuff was particularly tasty. Great affordable spot in the middle of Soho.
D. A.
Hip (very tasty!) dumpling place with super friendly staff.
We went there half an hour before closing and it was still packed with people. Amazing food and drinks.
Definitely coming back here!

went to have a quick meal with a friend. food was great, loved the vibes, service was also great. would go again!
M. K.
Tasty AF! Need I say more? Great value considering eat out to help out promotion.
A. S.
Really tasty, friendly staff, very reasonable pricing. exactly what one might be looking for when wandering between the shops...
B. W.
Slow service and not great food, to be honest, especially for the price. Also the beers were very expensive!
J. F.
Great food and great staff. Unfortunately 2 teenage boys who were customers were very rude to the staff. To their credit the staff were very professional despite being baited. The staff and the manager are a credit to this restaurant. We will happily come back here again.
R. B.
Very very good vegetarian and vegan dumplings! Loved the mushroom and truffle one the best, artichoke was great too.
F. R.
Best dumplings ever! Seriously, Aromatic Duck tastes like you are biting the heaven! 10/10!
유.
Good dumplings generally but not sure if I'd definitely go here again as I've had many better dumplings/more authentic ones.
A. C.
Nice dumplings, specially awesome the duck and hamburger ones! The beers were a bit expensive though.
A. Y.
Amazing new dumpling place! Go for lamb 🐑, mushrooms 🍄, prawns 🍤 and spinach 🌱. They are the best! The blueberry dessert ones are delicious! Definitely worth visiting and trying 👍🏼
S. W.
Yummy dumplings. Even had vegan options! Tiny place to sit and super loud but tasty food for a good price considering it's Central London.
N. P.
Amazing dumplings... On the pricey side but definitely worth as a treat
R.
Great little aesthetically pleasing dumpling spot in Soho. Happy hour is from 3-6 Monday - Thursday (maybe Friday too) and this means £1 per dumpling (absolute steal). Unfortunately, I ordered mine 20 minutes before my eyebrow appointment and had to get them to go, the waitress advised it would only take ten minutes so I assumed that I would have time to eat them quickly, but after 15 I asked if I could keep them there to stay warm and she then bought them out to me, so I had to eat them cold about 30 minutes later (hence no photos of actual dumplings). They tasted good non the less but would have obviously been better to try them warm. Would definitely visit again and sit in to try them!
K. F. B.
Had a table booked for a Friday night. All waiting staff super lovely and helpful with ordering. Prices are really reasonable for central London and the food is delicious! Can’t wait to come again!
N. B.
Amazing I wish I could give them 7*
m. k.
Great food, good price and friendly staff
Very recommended.
T. S.
Great food, good for a light dinner or lunch. Vegan selection could improve though!
B. A.
Amazing food and we had a really nice waitress.
S. B.
Er, YUM. I loved this place and the service was good and fast. I recommend going early for the best seats and for happy hour cocktails. Definitely get the Aubergine tempura. Cheap, would go again.
R. W.
The food in this place is good and reasonably priced however the service was not great. We had to flag someone down to ask for menus and to order - it seemed that only one waitress was actually working and the others didn't care too much.
T. K.
Affordable and delicious dumplings 🥟
V. S.
Lovely dumplings, great atmosphere and tunes. A+ service especially from Kristina. Will definitely return!
S. T.
Cool little spot, quiet on a Sunday afternoon, good price for a platter of 8 dumplings and good music and ambience. Friendly staff too. Would recommend.
S.
Cosy dumpling spot. Quite pricey for what you get but worth it to try something different!
m. W.
Get the pecan pie dumplings! GET THEM NOW!! ...Also the other dumplings are great and there's decent atmosphere and drinks. Recommend.
N. A.
Amazing! They have great platers where you can try different tastes, and all are delicious!
J. H.
The dumplings are ok but probably won't come back. All dumplings given the same generic dip which was a huge let down
M. M.
Very nice dumpling! But a bit too expensive for the portions
r. t.
Loved it here. Great service and the dumplings looked great
D. G.
Nice dumplings, but at £5-£6 for a plate of 3 small dumplings, lunch is either going to be expensive, or you're going to be hungry. Maybe taking away is more affordable.
O. v. W.
Very tasty, but too many tables and to small downstairs
S. “. R.
The dumplings are really good, but the service is just to slow and they looked stressed. We waited too long for our food...
v. b.
I feel like they’ve got a great selection of fillings, but paying 5 quid for 3 relatively small and unimpressively served dumplings is a bit much
A. C.
Really wanted to like this place, the staff were really friendly and it wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t really all that good. The place is super small and weirdly for a cosy place, has no atmosphere. Got the street food classics and miso courgette salad, it was ok.
A.
A great place for dumpling lovers- but I got food poisoning from eating at this place today (10.09.19), hours after I had the food. For this, I give it 3 stars instead of 5.
T. T.
A fun place to eat. Food is excellent and the staff are very helpful.
T. W.
I really liked the food and think it’s at least 4 out of 5 stars. However, the service was rather slow hence 3/5. Also it’s quite expensive for rather small plates.
R. P.
Soooooo we ordered every dumpling on the menu. And each one was just amazing. If you are up for dumplings this is the place to go.
J. N.
Exquisite food and fun flavours. Staff are always so friendly. Thank you!
Л. В.
It’s ok, the dumplings are pretty good.
K. W.
Super tasty and was able to get a reservation not too difficultly. Would recommend!
N. A.
I love the dumplings, I love the price, I love the atmosphere. Perfect for dates, probably small groups too.
K. L.
Why are they called Ugly when they are So Beautiful?!!
Each mouthful is packed full of flavour!
Interesting and unique menu, well presented, nice atmosphere, good experience! Highly rerecommen!
C. G.
Great food, nice place. Definitely recommend it. It is quite small so you should make sure to book.
B. ,.
Very cute looking place. Liked the food. Waitress did not double check how was the food. But I liked the experience overall therefore I would recommend.
B. B.
Nice little place to eat dumplings. It is what it is, nothing more. Feels like it is meant to be a quick stop to eat a bit and move along (but not in a rude way).
J. S.
Really good value for money. Absolutely friendly and warm place. As advice I would recommend the waiting staff to look a bit more interested and check back to the customers. Basic 101 of hospitality.
J. S.
I am at a loss for words. I really am. I am so content, happy and surprised right now. The head chef coming over and saying thanks, a hug, dessert and I will be here again and again and again. Til next time, my gorgeous dumplings, you rock!
M. G.
Delicious food with friendly and helpful staff!
J. P.
Interesting dumpling fillings. Can cater for gluten free too!
Y. K.
Great vegan options and very tasty!!

Great food, tables outside have heating and service is super friendly!
D. M.
Nice place. Just had some wine and beer. Dumplings looked good however!
.
Y. Y.
best dumplings ever!
G. C.
5 star for taste but a bit overpriced for what they are/portion size.
Also fairly slow bringing the food out despite it not being very busy that day.
P. C.
This restaurant is just very cool and good. Simplicity and quality. What a concept! Looking forward to go back soon for another nice experience!! 😀THANK YOU
K. R.
I loved this place. It was a tad pricey, but I did not try a dumpling that wasn't outstanding or at least great.
R. G.
Delicious as always and they've plenty of outside seating which is great at the minute. Highly recommend 😊
z. m.
This was ok. It's not the taste of the Asian dumplings you'd know of, it was was more of a Italian pasta fusion
A. M.
Great tasting food! A little cramped downstairs but worth it. The food is pricey but full of flavour! A real treat!
K. P.
Love the veggie options, speedy service too!
C. M.
Had the pork belly and cheese burger dumplings. I have to say the cheese burger worked surprisingly well. Would definitely go back.
Z. B.
i keep eating lunch here! highly recommend the 3 dumpling plates for £10 lunch deal (get the aubergine tempura!)
J. C.
Awesome place for dumplings. Good price as well.
The Japanese beer is very good too.
M.
Very cosy place, good vibes! Excellent dumplings - savory and sweet!
j. h.
Unusual flavours but all super tasty
D. L.
Really cute little shop with yummy dumplings. Service is quick and lovely, and prices are okay.
D. W.
Good taste but not sure the quantity is worth the price. This is London though.
D. M.
Delicious dumplings - had the lunch time special. Recommend the Nutella dumplings to finish off...
A. W.
Lovely & bright casual restaurant. Quality of food wasn't bad, but the portions were far too small for the amount they charge.
E. V.
Recommend from the Off menu podcast and really enjoyed the Dumplings the cheeseburger one was amazing!
H. A.
Tasty dumplings and cool interiors featuring beer mat art
J. T.
Great food place. Really nice food and nice outdoor seating.
M. B.
Love the veggie platter and the Nutella dumplings. Extremely tiny but worth it!
I. M.
Cute place, quick service. Food is good.
M. T.
Expensive prices for average dumplings.
G.
Love this place! Offers such a cool mix of dumplings and very unique flavours.
G. S.
Goid location, friendly and helpful service and nice dumplings.
K. A.
Tasty, friendly, inexpensive (especially for Soho!)
O. H.
Excellent dumplings and service. Bit tight on space and not the cheapest - but this is not a cheap part of town.
I. J.
Variety of choices! Cheeseburger dumpling is our fav! Lunch menu set is quite cheap
A. D. B.
One of the best dumplings! New taste and very welcome staff!
C. G. L.
Really nice place in Soho. Very good dumplings, tasty and at a reasonable price.
A. A.
Very good food but expensive for the size portions... went on 50% timeout discount and it was good value then!
M. Z.
Super small dumplings but inventive flavors and fun atmosphere
C. A.
Fantastic dumplings, you can try a mixed plate
J. F.
These dumplings aren't ugly, they're GAWJUS
P. T.

Not ugly! Nice place and it was good 😁
M. A.
Really tasty dumplings. Slightly on the pricy side but worth it!
