Wedding Reception at The Escoffier Room - 10/10 5 Stars!
In October 2021 we got married and held our reception at The Escoffier Room - what a fantastic decision that was! From our initial enquiry with Marc Whitley (restaurant manager and senior lecturer), through planning our menu and canapes with the wonderful Head Chef Jonny (Jonathon) Warner, choosing the wine to be served with the food, selecting the welcome drinks and even planning a photo slideshow and personalised music playlist, all the staff and students couldn’t do enough for us to ensure we had the most amazing day!
My wife and I (!) enjoyed a beautiful wedding day, in no small part thanks to the magnificent efforts of Marc, Jonny, and all the students at The Escoffier Room. This restaurant is a real hidden gem in the heart of London. I first took my now wife here on a date in an attempt to impress her while we were dating - little did we know that we’d return multiple times, and eventually celebrate our wedding here!
Marc was incredibly helpful and attentive in the planning stages of our big day. He is experienced and confident in organising events and so brought a much needed calmness and confidence to our often last minute decision making in the build up. Marc and Jonny organised wine and menu tastings for us, showcasing the restaurants excellent selection of wines and incredible food.
The food Jonny and the students produced for our wedding meal was incredible. Words cannot do it justice, you really do have to experience the delicate flavours and impeccable presentation for yourself. During our main course the father of the bride was heard to say “This food is amazing, fine dining in England isn’t dead!”. And to be honest, there wasn’t much to be heard during the canapes as our guests were busy enjoying how delicious they were!
The students served our guests with a smile on their faces and professionalism in their manner. The service was top quality and worthy of any 5 star hotel restaurant in any major city of the world.
We are so grateful to Marc, Jonny, the students, and all the back room staff at The Escoffier Room for looking after us so well during our wedding celebrations - thank you! xx

We had a great meal there in November 2021. Not busy, and you have to enjoy
It as an experience. To be served by enthusiastic students who are keen to learn, and serve interestingly prepared good fine dining. We had a good, well prepared meal and the young hosts were our entertainers!

I was a guest for luncheon here and was certainly not disappointed. This project gives young trainee professionals an opportunity to enhance their skills. Very reasonably priced. An outstanding service.

I was really impressed by the setting and the food. All the courses were beautifully prepared and served by the students too. I'd definitely visit again.

Went there for lunch and bsolutely loved it. We had a group of almost 50 people and the service was great. Although the staff were young they seemed to manage. The food was really nice as well. On the day I had pear pouched in muled wine for starters and cod for mains. It probably won't be the same if you go but all the food was well prepared.

Fantastic better than I hoped for. Amazing food. Very reasonable under thirty quid a head for seven courses.

Been here a few times now but this time it was s bit disappointing. The service was terrible, food mediocre and no attention to detail. The last few occasions though I would recommend.

Best kept secret in london
I take my hat off to the students in the evening service they have a lot to learn in front of house service they carry out with perfection with slight guidance from their teacher/manager
You are all the best

It's important to understand what this place is before you eat; it's the kitchen and dining room where students at Westminster Kingsway college try out their skills for real. This goes for the waiting staff, maitre'd as well as the chefs. The students aim high so you should get high calibre food at a fraction of the price. All my food was prepared exceptionally and wouldn't look out of place in a Mayfair restaurant. The dining room is calm if a little austere but it's hard to argue with the prices.
