My son in particular loves this place. Always opt for the bigger portion, easily feeds 2. Always good quick service and never had a duff meal yet

Good food, good price, generous portions but limited options. If you like a nice decent take away, this is your place.

Great affordable and tasty food with very good portion sizes, the chicken katsu curry is particularly nice

I have never left Kokoro feeling unsatisfied. I have only had the chicken Katsu curry with white rice (Large which is the largest option) but everytime I get it, I am full towards the end and feelings like I over ate at the end. Despite this and me telling myself when I leave that I will get regular (The next size down from large and the smallest option), I still continue to get large because the food is just that amazing.
The hot food and sushi/sashimi variety is many and so is the cold food in the fridge but the amount of cold food pales in comparison to other Kokoro around England. An example of a food item that is missing in this location is cheesecake.
When you have the food ready to eat, you can either choose different plastic cutlery like forks, knifes and spoons or you can choose their traditional wooden break away chopsticks. Feel free to use the plastic cutlery but it's much more authentic if you learn to use chopsticks. You can take some home and practice. They also don't seem to mind if you bring your own chopsticks (which is what I do).
The building has two levels, the ground floor where the entrance, fridge and counter is on has a few tables, chairs and a cutlery station but upstairs have many more tables and chairs as well as a second cutlery station. The first time you go upstairs might feel weird because it's up a spiral stair case and down this strange corridor which opens out into the room as you go around the corner. On the second time and beyond, it'll feel normal.
The food service is relatively quick and the staff are also very kind. Some will ask you where you want the sauce whereas others will just add it on in a specific way without asking. If you use a tray with your food, it is unclear what you're supposed to do with it when you've finished. Originally I left it on the table which I now believe is wrong but after taking it downstairs, I realised there is no where to put it apart from in the hands of a staff member who you might have to get the attention of from the kitchen. It's not too bad after your third time going and beyond but can be a slightly confusing the first couple of times.
